- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:41Hi, it's. Adam here.
- 0:42And in today's episode of The Hypnotist, you're going to be
- 0:45listening to a hypnosis session created for a.
- 0:50Client that was. In academia and they were
- 0:54procrastinating over the final part of a research project.
- 1:01They'd written the paper, they just hadn't done the citations,
- 1:05the references, and they were dwelling on that.
- 1:09And there was an element of certain fears is always daunting
- 1:15to do the final step because it represents a change.
- 1:19And sometimes we get into this feeling of overthinking about
- 1:23what stuff really means and what it takes.
- 1:26We turn the molehill into a mountain and that can happen.
- 1:30What you're going to hear in this particular session is about
- 1:33anchoring resource states. There's elements of future
- 1:36pacing and there's also elements of breaking it down to make
- 1:41something that is, let's say, daunting into something doable.
- 1:47And I think that's the key thing, where the rubber meets
- 1:49the road is actually doing the very thing.
- 1:52And sometimes all you need is to take a little bit of action just
- 1:56to break inertia. And when you start doing that
- 1:59little bit, you end up doing the whole thing.
- 2:02And most people can relate to at least one area of their life
- 2:06where they feel this way. It might be this, you know,
- 2:09creative project they've been thinking about for ages but just
- 2:12haven't started. Or it might be a tax return or
- 2:15something like that. But once you actually start, it
- 2:18takes on a different connotation.
- 2:21Then it's about just continuing doing what you're doing.
- 2:25And there's an element of timeline element in this as
- 2:29well, of the version of the client that never submits the
- 2:33dissertation is going to be worse off than the version of
- 2:38them that does. And, you know, there is this
- 2:42feeling of, well, this could change everything.
- 2:44Yeah, some, some things can change everything.
- 2:46But life still comes one day at a time.
- 2:50And it might give you opportunities or doors open that
- 2:54lead to possibilities. But you can still be discerning
- 2:57as to what you say yes, what you say no to.
- 2:59So even if, you know, suddenly you were offered incredible
- 3:05opportunities, you couldn't say yes to all of them anyway.
- 3:07You'd have to be discerning about which ones you say yes to,
- 3:10and thinking about it in a way of it gives you the option
- 3:13without the obligation if there is fear connected with.
- 3:17Let's say. Fear of success connected with
- 3:20doing something. You can mitigate that fairly
- 3:22easily by thinking, OK, but I can still decide whether or not
- 3:25I take that opportunity later. So there's a bit going on in
- 3:29this session, but at its core it is about releasing hesitation
- 3:33and procrastination related to doing something that could
- 3:39create some kind of ripple of change.
- 3:42The reason that there's a reference to an.
- 3:44Invisible wall. Is that's the reference the
- 3:46client gave me? They said it almost feels like
- 3:48there's this force field, this invisible wall stopping me from
- 3:51doing that. Great.
- 3:53You know, as a hypnotist, I'm going to harness whatever
- 3:55metaphor the client gives me. And that's why it's included in
- 3:59this session. It was created for an
- 4:01individual. Not all of these suggestions and
- 4:03and references are going to make sense for you because you're
- 4:06someone else. But if you do like the idea of a
- 4:08bespoke, customized hypnosis session for you, there will be a
- 4:12link in the show notes where you can reach out and schedule that
- 4:14free consultation call over Zoom.
- 4:16For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:19won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:49Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 5:00resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:05And as you exhale, just allow yourself to feel that any
- 5:15emotions you're holding onto that don't serve you are
- 5:22starting to dissolve. Breathing in relaxation and just
- 5:30allowing those emotions to melt away.
- 5:39As you breathe out, feel that those emotions, the ones that
- 5:48have been hanging around holding you back, just imagine how good
- 5:58it would feel to feel like they're leaving your body in
- 6:04your outward breath. When you breathe in, breathe in
- 6:13deeper for longer, and as you exhale, just elongate the
- 6:21outward breath to feel like you're breathing out longer.
- 6:29Exhaling any of that tension, stress, or worry, feel it
- 6:36leaving your body. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:41relaxed you become, and the more how relaxed you become, the
- 6:47deeper you breathe. Notice with.
- 6:51Your eyes closed. That you can give more of your
- 6:54attention to the sound of my voice, allow your body to relax
- 7:07and of the inward breath. Invite calm into your system,
- 7:17and on the outward breath, give yourself permission to let go,
- 7:24to let go of any tension, any thoughts, any expectations.
- 7:33And before long, your breathing finds its natural rhythm.
- 7:41And when it finds that rhythm, I want you to imagine a gentle
- 7:48wave of relaxation beginning at the very top of your head.
- 7:58Feel that wave of relaxation spreading slowly downward like
- 8:04warm sunlight, beginning there with the crown and then going
- 8:12down your forehead, into your jaw, down through your
- 8:18shoulders, all the way down to your fingertips into your chest,
- 8:26your legs. I wonder if you could even
- 8:30imagine your toes feeling heavy and relaxed, warm and at ease.
- 8:42I want you to feel that this is a safe sanctuary.
- 8:47There's nowhere else you need to be and nothing else you need to
- 8:53do. I want you to get a sense of
- 9:03what it would feel like to stand right at the very top of a
- 9:09beautiful spiral staircase, where each step down is a step
- 9:17deeper into your mind, your imagination, your unconscious,
- 9:25deeper into clarity, into focus. You get to imagine what kind of
- 9:32spiral staircase this is, perhaps made of marble or iron
- 9:40wood or something else. And with each number I count,
- 9:46imagine yourself taking one step down this spiral staircase. 10
- 9:55and then 9 deeper, 8 and then seven more relaxed.
- 10:04Six and five. The world just fading away.
- 10:08Four and three drop, leaping down effortlessly, and then two
- 10:13and one nearly there until zero. You get to the bottom of the
- 10:18staircase, a part of your subconscious mind where you get
- 10:25to let go of those things that are holding you back and embrace
- 10:32new resources, new feelings that move you forward.
- 10:37So in this place, imagine seeing something in front of you.
- 10:43I want you to imagine a representation of a wall.
- 10:54Not a thick physical wall, but one made of something less
- 11:00solid. Imagine feeling it.
- 11:04It's invisible, yet present. This is a wall of resistance,
- 11:11inertia, resentment I want you to feel as you walk closer to
- 11:22it. It's a wall separating you from
- 11:31a desirable future. A desirable future could be the
- 11:40relief of getting something done that's been holding you back.
- 11:46But a desirable future could be your career, your life.
- 11:53Years from now. This wall is getting in the way.
- 12:00A part of your mind felt that this wall is protecting you.
- 12:07What if the wall that was designed to protect is now an
- 12:11impediment, a barrier, a prison that's holding you back from the
- 12:20future you desire and deserve? This wall is not a mountain.
- 12:31It's not even a wall of a maze. Just a strange, invisible weight
- 12:40of a wall. But what if the weight of this
- 12:45wall you built yourself from the pressure of what hasn't been
- 12:55done? What should have been done?
- 13:00Frustrations, resentment, resistance built the very wall
- 13:05that is now holding you back. I want you to imagine you're
- 13:14holding a sledgehammer. Feel the weight of it.
- 13:25This sledgehammer is a metaphor for action.
- 13:33The wall doesn't go by itself. Something needs to be done.
- 13:40Might be 15 minutes or half an hour of dedicated time, but
- 13:47allow the sledgehammer to represent focus and action.
- 13:55And imagine. Imagine smashing that
- 14:00sledgehammer against that invisible wall.
- 14:05At one point he felt this invisible wall was impenetrable.
- 14:13But as you imagine hitting this invisible wall, you can hear the
- 14:16sound of damage to bricks. You get a sense that the
- 14:25invisible wall, this unknown, is becoming real.
- 14:32You get to see it as a wall that is not like a fortress wall, but
- 14:39more like like a wall of a standard building, and your
- 14:44sledgehammer can breakthrough it.
- 14:50What you thought was an impossible barrier.
- 14:54The more vulnerable than you think action is breaking the
- 14:59barrier. As you continue to smash into
- 15:03that wall, you can see cracks, see it wobbling.
- 15:13As you stand before the wall, something is beginning to shift.
- 15:19Place your hand on the wall and feel that it is way more fragile
- 15:24than you ever thought it was. The cracks are getting larger
- 15:30and the wall is starting to crumble.
- 15:36Give it a little nudge, a push push and feel that that once
- 15:42invisible wall is crumbling down.
- 15:49You don't even have to push that hard.
- 15:53The weight of the wall itself creates a cascade of bricks
- 16:02falling on bricks that were once invisible and now you can see
- 16:06them. Bricks of resentment,
- 16:09frustration, resistance all come crumbling down.
- 16:15All it took was some action and less than you thought.
- 16:24This resistance that you've been carrying wasn't about this small
- 16:29thing that you needed to do. What if it was the weight of
- 16:34holding something unfinished, something that you thought
- 16:41protected you but actually became a weight that held you
- 16:45back? And now you can feel that
- 16:48lifting, as if a fog is clearing, as if the heaviness
- 16:55that used to live in the future is now dissolving into the past.
- 17:02And I want you to scan your body and feel a surge of motivation,
- 17:09feel a focus drive, not to do the final step, but to do the
- 17:19thing that's been getting in the way.
- 17:23Imagine that hour or two of just doing that thing.
- 17:29It's easier than you thought it would be.
- 17:32It gets done quicker than you thought it would take, but
- 17:37whether or not you do the next thing, that's for you to decide.
- 17:45The initial thing is just to break down the wall.
- 17:51This was never a mountain. Just one more step on a path
- 17:58that takes your future into the direction you intended.
- 18:07Feel that surge of energy to do what is necessary.
- 18:12I want you to feel there's something wise inside you.
- 18:22The delay of doing the final thing is a gift, gives you a
- 18:28pause of breath, time to review, to revise, but this time free
- 18:37from any pressure, free from the resentment, the heaviness you've
- 18:45been carrying, free for many stress and concerns.
- 18:55The step after the step will be something you're completing and
- 19:00not rushing, preparing and not reacting.
- 19:08Allow your mind to be open to two futures.
- 19:13There's a version of you that never does this final few
- 19:18things, meaning all the work you've already done goes to
- 19:22waste. And this resentment, this
- 19:28frustration, this resistance, you keep carrying that forever,
- 19:40and there will always be that. What if the wandering, the
- 19:42doubt, that unfinished energy that never gets fully released.
- 19:50But there is a different timeline, the version of you
- 19:55that does what is necessary. Earlier than you planned, you
- 20:08take it to that next level, you submit whatever comes your way.
- 20:16After that it's just information.
- 20:23In life, you either win or you learn.
- 20:26The only way to lose is to not try or finish.
- 20:35See that version of you doing whatever is necessary.
- 20:41Citations, revisions, the final checks before submitting, but at
- 20:54a time when it felt right. And that version of you doesn't
- 20:59feel forced. Free of any resentment, any
- 21:05resistance, any procrastination, any any fear, that version of
- 21:11you does what is necessary and is rewarded with so much relief
- 21:18and release and momentum. This version of you has turned
- 21:22inertia to momentum, and that momentum will carry on far into
- 21:27the future. This is the strong, courageous
- 21:33version of you. All of the options and none of
- 21:39the obligations just open doors of possibility with the choice
- 21:48of which ones you walk through. Any fear of the unknown is
- 21:56softened by patience and wisdom, because the future only ever
- 22:01comes one day at a time. So imagine seeing a future
- 22:09version of you, perhaps as early as tomorrow or the day after a
- 22:17week from now, doing what is necessary to get done.
- 22:25See that version of you doing whatever is necessary.
- 22:37See yourself doing it with focused attention.
- 22:43See yourself resolute, determined, tenacious.
- 22:53See yourself like an artist stepping back from a painting
- 23:00with calm, clear eyes. See yourself passing the true
- 23:10finishing line. Not the one that you thought was
- 23:14the finishing line, but the true finishing line.
- 23:19And beyond that finishing line, there will be other races to
- 23:22run, other projects that inspire you and capture your
- 23:30imagination. But for now, those are just
- 23:34choices, not a chore. And when it's all finished, you
- 23:41can just rest and reflect before you decide what happens next.
- 23:50I want you to get a sense then that resistance and resentment
- 23:54feels like it's already lower. And when you do this thing
- 24:04that's been a cause of procrastination, that's when you
- 24:09finally let go of the weight of all of this resistance.
- 24:15Some people wait for the feeling to go before they do the thing,
- 24:18but sometimes doing The thing is what creates the change.
- 24:28Doing what's necessary is breaking the invisible wall.
- 24:34And if you feel that you've unlocked a resource is necessary
- 24:40to break that invisible wall, let me know.
- 24:42By nodding your head, you can see it, you can feel it, and you
- 24:48are just an hour or two away from freedom.
- 24:56The wall that was there to protect was now holding you
- 24:59back, and that wall will very soon come crumbling down.
- 25:05It's time to return to the here and the now, taking these
- 25:10resourceful feelings with you. So take a deep breath in through
- 25:13your nose and out through your nose.
- 25:18Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 25:20Start to connect and calibrate with the here and the now as I
- 25:24now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 25:29Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
