- 0:00Today's episode is brought to you by surprise guest hosts no one asked for.
- 0:04Let's see how this cameo goes, folks.
- 0:07Please rest assured, I am not here as part of some cunning rearguard action.
- 0:12King Charles addressing a joint session of Congress.
- 0:15Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Sarcast.
- 0:19I give you the news and maybe a laugh. I am not Lindsey Vernick,
- 0:23and today is April 30th, 2026.
- 0:26Another surprise Daily Sarcast, folks. My name is Ray Farrow,
- 0:29and though I'm not Lindsey, I do have a messy history of dating guys who need
- 0:32to get their lives together.
- 0:34That's right, I'm gay, but you knew that because I support Women Ran Podcast.
- 0:37I'm also a man, but you knew that because, you know, I feel like I can step
- 0:41into a Women Ran Podcast and do just as good as job despite having no relevant experience.
- 0:46If you don't like today's episode, relax. Lindsey will be back with a special episode tomorrow.
- 0:50A British guy came to Washington, D.C. and achieved what President Trump has
- 0:54been unable to do in either his first or second term. be a real king in the
- 0:58United States of America.
- 1:00King Charles III and Queen Camilla officially touched down the U.S.
- 1:04For a four-day state visit, the first by a British monarch since his mummy,
- 1:08Queen Elizabeth II, in 2007.
- 1:11Since their visit, the U.S. has experienced the worst financial catastrophe
- 1:15since the Great Depression, a global pandemic, an insurrection,
- 1:18and elected a reality TV star to the White House twice.
- 1:21So maybe these royals know how to play the long game, and maybe we shouldn't
- 1:24trust them on U.S. soil, but that's neither here nor there.
- 1:28With the 250th anniversary of the U.S.
- 1:31Declaring independence from Britain right around the corner.
- 1:34King Chuck brought some old-fashioned British tea and diplomacy vibes to Washington, D.C.
- 1:39And New York City, aiming to smooth over some very shaky transatlantic ties.
- 1:45Things have been a bit rocky between the White House and Downing Street lately.
- 1:49While the king is technically supposed to stay above politics,
- 1:52he was walking into a landscape where President Trump has been openly dragging
- 1:57UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over their lack of involvement with the war in Iran.
- 2:03Charles and Camilla started with a private tea with Donald Trump and Melania,
- 2:08and they even checked out the White House beehives.
- 2:11And I was today years old when I learned that the White House even had beehives
- 2:15and that Charles was super into bees for some reason.
- 2:19King Charles became only the second British monarch to ever address a joint session of Congress.
- 2:23He joked that 250 years ago was just another day to us Brits,
- 2:28which got a solid laugh. It's not exactly like Pride and Chris Rock,
- 2:32but you'll hear like way worse than Oban Mike.
- 2:34He also highlighted the special relationship, emphasizing, despite tense times,
- 2:40our shared history is pretty tight.
- 2:42Which is true, because if you think about it, less than 250 years ago,
- 2:45we were mortal enemies with Britain.
- 2:48And if you want hope for world peace, in less than 250 years,
- 2:52we went from fighting them for our independence, and then 30 years later fighting
- 2:55them in the War of 1812 for.
- 2:58Nobody knows why we fought the War of 1812, but we fought them in two wars and
- 3:02now we like watch Harry Potter.
- 3:05So world peace is right around the corner, folks.
- 3:08They had no plans to extend the trip to California, which means the king and
- 3:13queen would rather hang out with like everybody in Congress more than hang out
- 3:17with Harry and Meghan Markle. That's crazy.
- 3:21Queen Camilla struck a more feminist tone in her remarks, stating that,
- 3:24and excuse me while I pull up her exact words to not misquote her royal highness,
- 3:29Queen Camilla said, quote, shout out to all the side chicks out there,
- 3:33stay true, and one day you'll be with your king.
- 3:35To people who have no business in politics, Elon Musk is back in court,
- 3:39and this time he's not ducking child support payments to one of his 14 kids.
- 3:44The world's richest man is taking on his former buddy, OpenAI CEO,
- 3:48Sam Altman, in a blockbuster trial that's essentially a $150 billion tech soap opera.
- 3:55Musk claims Sam Altman, quote, stole a charity, unquote,
- 4:01by turning the nonprofit AI research firm they both founded together in 2015
- 4:06into a massive for-profit Microsoft-backed juggernaut.
- 4:11Before jury selection even kicked off, Musk was busy on X calling Sam Altman,
- 4:17quote, scam Altman, which, eh, a little hack for an open mic crowd.
- 4:23This caused the judge to warn both the tech bros to tone it down,
- 4:26making them look like two kids fighting over who gets the last piece of cake,
- 4:30when really they're two very powerful grown-ups fighting over literally who
- 4:35will control our attention for the rest of our natural lives.
- 4:38The crust of Elon's argument he poured his own cash into the startup based on
- 4:43the promise that it would stay a non-profit quote open source AI developer and
- 4:48not a commercial monster,
- 4:50and honestly Elon has a point and Sam
- 4:54Altman should go straight to jail for making me agree with the monster who shut
- 4:57down USAID and greenlit the disgusting cyber truck design in Lindsay life I
- 5:03hope she's still not lost in FIDI things I'm thinking about when we're young
- 5:07we sneak out of our houses to go to parties, and when we're old,
- 5:11we sneak out of parties to go home. Cooking tip of the day.
- 5:14Nothing beats coming home after a long day, and suddenly remember,
- 5:17you still have Girl Scout cookies in the freezer.
