- 0:08Hi guys, welcome back to Mom Gone mild.
- 0:11I'm your host Lex, and welcome to episode 13 Lucky 13.
- 0:18And funny enough, it is going to be Friday the 13th this week, so
- 0:22I'm super excited about that. Usually me and my best friend,
- 0:26we go, we get matching tattoos. I know, Cliche, whatever, we
- 0:31love it. We have probably like I think 3
- 0:34matching ones. I love her.
- 0:36Shout out to her, Nina. But yeah, so if you're new here,
- 0:41I am a first time mom. I'm a wife.
- 0:46I am a former party girl, someone who's basically trying
- 0:51to just figure out motherhood, dealing with my mental health
- 0:56and life 1 chaotic day at a time.
- 0:58If you've been here from the start, first of all, thank you
- 1:02guys so much. I am always going to be thankful
- 1:06for you guys listening because sometimes I do this podcast and
- 1:11I'm like, who is listening? As you guys know, we've talked
- 1:15about a lot, so go ahead, binge episodes one through 12.
- 1:21And we talk about postpartum, we talk about marriage, we talk
- 1:24about love, we talk about diet culture.
- 1:27Right now I'm in a whole fitness era.
- 1:30So yeah, go back. Binge episodes one through 12.
- 1:34But today, today is a feel good episode.
- 1:37Why? Because I feel good for once.
- 1:40I just not for once because I have been going in this kind of
- 1:44Wellness journey and it's just been helping me just clear my
- 1:48mind getting out of that bunk that I was in because let's be
- 1:53honest, postpartum depression is real and I am climbing my way
- 1:59out of it. If I haven't already scared you
- 2:01away from motherhood with my postpartum stories, let me tell
- 2:05you guys the best parts. Yes, we finally have arrived to
- 2:10the best parts about motherhood. I know 13 episodes in motherhood
- 2:15can be summed up by basically what happened the other day.
- 2:19Me and my husband, we took Axel out for his first time like to a
- 2:24store. We decided to go to Lowe's
- 2:27because I'm trying to build a she shed.
- 2:29Anyways, that's not the point. But you know, he had a full
- 2:33blown meltdown. I'm sure you guys know how that
- 2:37is. You're if you're like leaving
- 2:39the store, you're putting the baby in the car and boom, just
- 2:43crying snot just anger. Like he literally is in like
- 2:49this like new phase where he's just like shakes and it's just,
- 2:53it's like, and then he has like a piercing like low cry and it's
- 2:58just so sad. It just makes me all like
- 3:01emotional. But yeah, why did he cry?
- 3:05Because he was so infatuated with like looking at the flowers
- 3:08he loved, like the ceiling fans. He was obsessed.
- 3:12He was a fan for sure. Comes up perfectly.
- 3:16Motherhood, because motherhood is chaotic.
- 3:19It has its days, it has its UPS, it has its downs just like
- 3:22everything else. It is so random sometimes it
- 3:26makes absolutely no sense, but it's also the best thing I've
- 3:30ever done, honestly. Here I go with the same word.
- 3:34Honestly, I am so sorry that I used that word so many times.
- 3:37I think it's like a nervous little tick that I have.
- 3:40My favorite thing is about motherhood.
- 3:42Basically it is just being able to raise Axel and just being in
- 3:49awe, like wow, I made this tiny little human.
- 3:53He is my built in bestie. We have so much fun at this age.
- 3:59He he's seven months now, so he's just so fun.
- 4:03He had he's getting like his personality and he makes me
- 4:07laugh, he makes me cry. But you know, that's motherhood
- 4:12sometimes. We have our really good days.
- 4:15We have so much fun, we play games and just I'm right now in
- 4:19that kind of trying to entertain him all day because he no longer
- 4:24takes like long naps. So it's literally just playing
- 4:28all day. And I'm trying to cut TV time
- 4:31because I know it's not like the best but honestly if you're not
- 4:36a mom and you're just like I'm so against TV time.
- 4:41Let me tell you when that baby is crying or when you just need
- 4:45like 5-10 minutes to yourself. TV is OK at a certain point.
- 4:50Am I letting him watch it all day?
- 4:52Absolutely not. I'm not for that.
- 4:56TV is not raising my baby. But also, mom needs like a, I
- 5:01mean, sometimes I just need to relax and enjoy my coffee.
- 5:04And like I said, I'm just so excited to be raising Axel.
- 5:08I get to be there for every milestone.
- 5:10I get to be there through all his years of growing up.
- 5:13He's just at such an amazing age right now.
- 5:16The word privilege really hits me sometimes because there were
- 5:21moments in my life where I never thought I'd be a mom.
- 5:28I suffered a loss of a baby. I have issues with my mental
- 5:35health. So there were times where I was
- 5:38like, am I even enough? Can I really be a good mom to
- 5:41this baby that's going to need me constantly and I'm going to
- 5:45have to just give him my all? And the answer is yes, I am.
- 5:50Because I have put, I am trying to put in the work.
- 5:54I am trying to be a present mom. There's days where I don't want
- 5:58to get up. There's days where I'm so tired
- 6:02because, you know, he doesn't sleep through the night.
- 6:05But you know what? I'm there every day.
- 6:07I'm present. And that's all that we can do
- 6:11for our babies, to be honest. He's a happy baby.
- 6:14He's healthy, he is perfect. So he's doing good.
- 6:19Trust me. OK.
- 6:21But Speaking of kind of like my old life, because I always like
- 6:25to just go back in time and sometimes just think of not the
- 6:32good old days because good days are now, but like the funner
- 6:37days, you know, the crazier days.
- 6:40You know, I really had a time when I was young, one time in
- 6:44specific. I was just talking to my one
- 6:46friend about this not too long ago.
- 6:48It's so funny. So we were in a lounge and yeah,
- 6:51this was like one of those lounges where people just win
- 6:54and had like, you know, drinks after work, nothing too crazy.
- 6:59And of course, in comes me. People are sitting, people are
- 7:03drinking, people are relaxing, enjoying their day, talking,
- 7:07hanging out, very calm, very normal.
- 7:10In comes Lex. Somehow I end up dancing on a
- 7:14table. Now mind you, it was a glass
- 7:17table, so you can probably already guess where this is
- 7:21going. But I was dancing.
- 7:23People were just like, chilling probably.
- 7:26Look at me like, who is that girl?
- 7:28Well, yeah, I ended up falling through that table.
- 7:33Glass table completely breaks. I fall straight through.
- 7:38The whole lounge is silent. They're all just staring at me.
- 7:43Of course I got kicked out. The party still continued, and
- 7:48that pretty much sums up my life back then.
- 7:50If you want to hear more kind of wild Nights out, I definitely
- 7:56have a few episodes. Go ahead, listen to them.
- 8:00I think they're funny now. Probably, yeah.
- 8:05Just go and listen to them. I hope you'll go ahead and enjoy
- 8:08them. Life is so different now.
- 8:10It's just when I say I had a time, I had a time when I was
- 8:15young. I definitely enjoyed my youth
- 8:20and actually I'm so glad that I did because even though
- 8:22sometimes I look at some videos on, you know, social media, when
- 8:26I see my friends going out, I'm like, Dang, I have some kind of
- 8:29FOMO. But in reality, I have lived
- 8:32that whole life. I've partied, I've stayed out
- 8:35late. I've done pretty much everything
- 8:38that you do when you party. So I feel like that time I'm
- 8:43kind of good, especially when I see my friends out, like past
- 8:46like 10, I'm like, Oh no girl, go back to sleep, what were you
- 8:51thinking? And I'm fine.
- 8:54And I'm just really grateful because now I just get to enjoy
- 8:58motherhood. I just wouldn't trade this life
- 9:02for anything. Even the depression, even the
- 9:05anxiety, everything that came with motherhood.
- 9:08I definitely wouldn't change it because in the end I got the
- 9:12cutest baby. I know.
- 9:15I know everyone says that they have the cutest baby, but I
- 9:18really do No, but in all seriousness, because I got to
- 9:23live my crazy era, my wild nights out.
- 9:26I really just get to enjoy life with, you know, like planning
- 9:31vacations, planning, like going to Legoland and planning to go
- 9:35to Disneyland. And just like, I love how my
- 9:38life looks now. But can we talk about one thing
- 9:42that I just feel like is so chaotic?
- 9:45Spring cleaning. I don't know.
- 9:47Do you guys ever look at your clothes?
- 9:49I was looking at, you know, my dresser today and I was like,
- 9:53Dang, I have a lot of clothes. So I went in and I was like, I'm
- 9:57just going to grab a few things like donate.
- 9:59I ended up donating almost all of my clothes.
- 10:03So I basically only have like, gym clothes, sweats and large
- 10:08T-shirts. Yeah, that's my whole wardrobe
- 10:12right now. But do you guys ever get in like
- 10:13the mood where it's like, Dang, I just want to like, rearrange
- 10:16my whole house? I am no way am I like do I have
- 10:22like the money to do that, but I want to do it like with $100
- 10:25budget. I don't know.
- 10:26Am I the only person that feels like that?
- 10:28I hope not. If you're listening, let me
- 10:31know. Is that how you guys feel during
- 10:33spring cleaning? Like I just want to like get rid
- 10:35of everything and just get everything new.
- 10:38Is that like a millennial thing? I always see kind of like post
- 10:42like millennials like simple things.
- 10:45They don't like clutter. They like it just very
- 10:49minimalistic. And I just feel like, yeah, I'm
- 10:52in that era right now where it's like, I just want, I know like
- 10:57the whole typical grayish Gray is not in, but Gray will always
- 11:02be in for me. I could care less.
- 11:03I do like the Browns. But, you know, is that a
- 11:07millennial thing? I don't know.
- 11:08I feel like because like, back when I was like living with my
- 11:12mom, it was like since I had like, little brothers, little
- 11:15sister, it was just so chaotic. There were so many things all
- 11:18over the place. I just felt very overwhelmed.
- 11:21That might actually be an anxiety thing.
- 11:23I'm not sure. So yeah, realistically, well,
- 11:28honestly, in my perfect world, I would have like the perfectly
- 11:31like, Pinteresty cute aesthetic house.
- 11:37But yeah, that's just not the reality now.
- 11:39And I feel like that's not going to be it for a long time,
- 11:41especially because I am a boy mom.
- 11:44I do know how boys get. I do have little brothers and
- 11:48trust me, they are messy. They're gross.
- 11:52And I'm pretty sure that's how Axel will be too.
- 11:55Of course I'm going to teach him to clean up.
- 11:57But I mean, I am very realistic. Should I have gotten white
- 12:01couches? Probably not, but here we are
- 12:04here we go. So he is starting to kind of be
- 12:08like a little bit more mobile. So we're going to have to start
- 12:11baby proofing the house, which I'm actually a little excited
- 12:15for because I can't wait to have just a little 1 running around
- 12:18here. I just want to clean everything
- 12:22up. I want a fresh start.
- 12:24I want a fresh start mentally. I want a fresh start physically.
- 12:28I I just am in that whole spring era, just new refresh, reset.
- 12:35I love it, really love about being a mother, especially at
- 12:39this age. At seven months, he is not
- 12:42fragile anymore. And I know my baby is a big boy.
- 12:46He is, he's probably like 27 lbs now.
- 12:50But you know, he's just not fragile anymore.
- 12:52And we get to like actually like play around.
- 12:55I get to like, I don't throw him, but you know what I mean?
- 12:58I'm a little bit more rough with him.
- 12:59He starts laughing. He loves it.
- 13:01But also I really miss newborn stage guys.
- 13:07I know, I know, I know. I said I'm one and done and that
- 13:10still is the case. But sometimes I look at newborns
- 13:13and I'm like they are so cute. I just miss having him just here
- 13:18just sleeping all day. Now he's just Wilding out and
- 13:23I'm sure he's going to get more wild as the time comes.
- 13:27Don't like let this fool you because motherhood is great, but
- 13:32teething right now is a bitch. He is such a good boy, but when
- 13:38those he is like he has two little teeth right here one's
- 13:42popping in right now and it's just ah, it's getting to me.
- 13:47I know, and I'm just like, how much longer does this last?
- 13:50I'm assuming like every tooth he's going to be crying like
- 13:53this right For now, we're just enjoying every cuddle, every
- 13:57hug, every kiss. By the way, I am so proud of my
- 14:02baby. He said Mama and yes, he was
- 14:07crying, but obviously he was crying for me.
- 14:09He did say Mama. He says it all the time now when
- 14:12he's crying and it's just like it makes me want to cry.
- 14:16I just feel like motherhood makes me cry all the time.
- 14:19My hormones are so damn up and down.
- 14:22It's crazy. And yeah, we're getting through
- 14:27this together. We're getting through the tears.
- 14:29We're just, we're doing it all. We're full on in mom mode.
- 14:33And I absolutely love it. I want to know what's your
- 14:37guys's favorite part about being a mom?
- 14:39OK, so we're kind of trying, I was trying to do that baby lean
- 14:44what where they basically like feed themselves and it's like
- 14:47solids, but it's just he's not really too into a he's more into
- 14:52purees. He likes when I feed him and you
- 14:54know what, it's fine. Eventually he'll get there.
- 14:58But right now we're just really enjoying kind of trying new
- 15:00foods. He's not a big fan of eggs, just
- 15:03like his mom. But yesterday I fed him yogurt
- 15:07and I made him like a little like blueberry like jam kind of
- 15:11thing, and he loved it. So I'm just excited.
- 15:16I get to see, you know, the world basically through his eyes
- 15:20and everything is just so new. He's just in awe of everything.
- 15:24And I just absolutely adore it. It's like I get to relive all
- 15:31that I have already gone through and I get to just guide him and
- 15:34I just get to be there with him is I have had so many new
- 15:39followers because I am doing this whole 75 hard and yeah.
- 15:43So I just want to give a quick update on that.
- 15:46And if you are a new follower because of that, trust me, we
- 15:49will be getting into that. I talk about it way more on
- 15:52Instagram and stuff like that. But so quick update on 75 hard.
- 15:57I have lost a total of 7 lbs when I am since I'm filming this
- 16:02now it is day 10. When this airs it will be day
- 16:0712. So your girl is down 7 lbs?
- 16:15Dang I know I'm excited. I just I feel energetic.
- 16:22I feel like I have less cravings.
- 16:25I'm not going to lie. I would kill for a coke 0 though
- 16:29if I'm honest. Kill.
- 16:32Yesterday I had like protein pasta and it was all healthy and
- 16:36it was all good and I was like Dang, you know how to feel like
- 16:39really? Even better, a Coke 0.
- 16:43Yeah. So even though I have had less
- 16:45cravings, I still crave. But of course, I was so excited
- 16:49to weigh myself. And then my husband weighed
- 16:51himself. Guys, he lost 10 lbs.
- 16:54I'm so jealous of men's bodies. I swear they blink and they lose
- 16:59weight. 75 hard has not been bad.
- 17:04I feel like if you pick a diet that's sustainable, which is the
- 17:08Whole Foods diet, I am definitely going to implement
- 17:11this in my days after 75 hard because I love it.
- 17:15Like I just feel like my guts feeling healthy.
- 17:18I feel like my skin is clearing up.
- 17:20The water of course, is ice or me and water right now are
- 17:24enemies. I know.
- 17:26But, you know, we're doing the thing.
- 17:28We're reading and yeah, basically, I'm really actually
- 17:32enjoying the two workouts a day. I feel healthy.
- 17:36I I just love it. I maybe I'm a freaking weirdo,
- 17:40but maybe also I'm on day 10. I have 65 days left.
- 17:44We'll see at the end of this. So as you guys also know, and if
- 17:48you don't know, I am going to be doing a mud run in September.
- 17:53So I'm starting to train for that.
- 17:55And you guys are like probably like, girl, it's in September.
- 17:58Well, yeah, I just went up a freaking hill that was high.
- 18:02So I need to get my butt to start working, running, doing
- 18:07like some jumble the the jungle gym thing.
- 18:11I need to get on it because September, you guys, the months
- 18:15are passing fast here. But you know, it's awesome
- 18:20because I feel stronger. I feel like my body's getting
- 18:22tighter. I'm getting a lot of compliments
- 18:24from my hubs, so that always feels good.
- 18:27That's making me feel sexy. It's making me feel seen, and I
- 18:31just feel overall like this is going to be a lifestyle change.
- 18:36I feel like everyone says that, but I really do feel like I'm
- 18:40going to implement a lot of the things that I'm doing now into
- 18:44my day-to-day when I'm done with 75 heart.
- 18:46I also took my first Pilates class and yeah, I signed up for
- 18:52three months, so I better be looking snatched.
- 18:56I do see all these Pilates bodies and I'm like, yes, this
- 19:00is exactly how I want to look. So right now, I guess you can
- 19:03say I'm in my Pilates era now. Of course, guys, I'm feeling
- 19:08good, but I still have my days. Those intrusive thoughts kick
- 19:12in. There's some days, like I said,
- 19:15I don't want to do. I don't want to do the two
- 19:18workouts. I don't want to eat healthy.
- 19:20I want to eat a burger. I want to eat a Coke 0.
- 19:22But you know what? I just stopped my brain from
- 19:25spiraling and just literally tell myself, Alexis, you're
- 19:30doing this for yourself and your baby to be healthy because I
- 19:34want Axel to just have a healthy lifestyle.
- 19:39I wasn't really like into health when I was younger.
- 19:42So I feel like right now, that's why I'm really struggling with
- 19:45it because if I was born into this and you know, my parents
- 19:48would have like taken me for runs and made me like walk more,
- 19:52I feel like this wouldn't be such a crazy journey.
- 19:55Will these thoughts ever disappear?
- 19:58Probably not because I've been struggling it with them for my
- 20:03whole life, but I'm definitely not going to obsess over them
- 20:07like I used to. Another thing that I'm doing is
- 20:10I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone and I am going to
- 20:13be joining like mom walks and just like I'm doing like a
- 20:18Pilates class in we ho. So I'm going to be trying to
- 20:21just get out of my comfort zone right now.
- 20:24Right now I'm. Choosing to be present, I'm
- 20:27choosing to be mindful. I am choosing to be active.
- 20:31This feels so good right now because at the end of the day, I
- 20:34am a mom. I'm raising this little human,
- 20:37but I'm also needing, I have to be kind to myself because I just
- 20:42grew a human as well. So it's kind of like a balance
- 20:46that I'm trying to figure out it all out together through the
- 20:50cuddles, through the hard times, through the good times, through
- 20:52the laughs, through the park dates, through just everything.
- 20:57And I absolutely wouldn't trade this for the world.
