- 0:00SPEAKER_01: I'd like to welcome everyone to our podcast Unloaded.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: This is Michael Seahorn.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: And Shannon Morrow.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: I'm glad to be here today with my cohort Shannon.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: I'm glad everybody out there is once again tuning in to two dudes behind a microphone.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: What does cohort mean?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Like uh you just you know, partner.
- 0:20SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 0:21SPEAKER_01: Partner, cohort.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Uh could be it could be co-host, co-host, yeah, cohort.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: I mean you could be like podcast partner, could be the getaway driver.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: You know, if we were if we were, you know, back in the 30s and we were you know robbing a bank or something.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: If you came out of that bank and your your driver's gone.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Like, where's Shannon?
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: He's done like left.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: He said, Good luck, dude.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: It got too hot, man.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: They're on to us somehow.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Too hot, man.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: I had to I had to roll out, dude.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: I think that's fair.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: That's fair, man.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Well, it's been an uh interesting um week and some days.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, as usual.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: As usual.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Life stays interesting.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: How about how about for you?
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Good man.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm in a pretty good place.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: It's good to hear.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: It might be a good chance to um just kind of catch some some of our listeners up.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: I know, shoot, man.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: I'd say probably the last four or five weeks, man, we we've had some pretty deep episodes on some deep conversations, both uh with some of the stuff that you've been dealing with and some of the things I've been dealing with.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'd like to put some positivity uh back into the yeah, not that it hasn't been positive before, and not that things were so binary, negative positive.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Good positive energy.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Keeping it light, keeping it fun.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:49SPEAKER_01: Um we we talk a lot about when you're going through heavy things and on how we deal with it and um how to deal with that weight, how to deal with that adversity, if you will.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: You can plug in whatever words you like.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I think it'd today'd be a great chance for me to maybe um talk a little bit to our listeners about what happens when when the tide turns, if you will, when you're feeling like the world is upon your shoulders, you're feeling like you just can't you can't get a good fresh breath of air, you're just you're just under that weight.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: So today I I I think it'd be great to talk about what happens when the tide turns for you.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: Cause that we we don't I don't know if we've really talked in depth about that.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: No, per se, right?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: No, this is great, you know, because right, thank you.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: There's the other side.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: Like, yeah, often life can get fairly heavy, we're kind of trudging through, and just like you said, needing that uh just come up for air once in a while.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: And um while also sometimes ooh, yeah, we get to come up for air, and suddenly it doesn't feel as heavy.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: It's actually much lighter, and it's like, oh man, ooh, made it through that feeling feeling much better.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's uh it's a it's I gotta be honest, man, it's a you know maybe if you if you're not really in tune, if you're not really looking inside, or if you're not really in this present moment where you're kind of really looking inside, you you might miss it sometimes because it's just the way things come and go.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: Some because sometimes it's very quickly, right?
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: Things come in, go out, come in, go out.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: But if you have an opportunity to really have a moment of almost like wow man, I I feel I feel better today.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: You know, if you if you sit with that just for a moment, man, and and just ask yourself, why am why am I feeling so well today comparatively maybe to yesterday when I woke up or maybe when I went to bed last night, right?
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: Um that's a hard question often.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: It is, and I think even in my own personal experience, um, you know, when you're dealing with a lot of heaviness, uh, whatever that heaviness might be, it's very easy to get tunnel vision um where you're just you're just dealing with it the best way you can.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And I noticed this week, uh Shane and I talked a little bit prior to our um us getting the episode runs today.
- 4:34SPEAKER_01: Um last Friday I made a personal decision.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: Um and I took a I took a I just took uh action, hard core action.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Committed, like up, okay, literally like pulling the trigger, like yep.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: On on some things that I've been waffling on for some time.
- 4:55SPEAKER_01: And it, you know, it was Friday evening.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: Uh I had a I had a I had a good day Friday, but um when I got home and just I kind of got settled, you know, just thinking about all the stuff that's been going on over the past six weeks with you know, with my uh anniversary of my mom passing away and just all this stuff.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: And just had this thing in the back of my head that I've been I've been not ignoring it per se, just putting it on that shelf.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: It but it was it was on the shelf where you you're looking at it.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: It's it you're not ignoring it, it's just hey man, I'm gonna get to this in as soon as I can, right?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: Comparatively to the the shelf that we put things on where you can't see it, and you're just like, yep, that I'm not gonna deal with that for I don't know, ever.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I've forgotten about some of those things back away back there.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 5:43SPEAKER_01: But this one I wanted to keep on the burner, if you will, uh, and I didn't want it to just be disappeared from me.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: So so Friday evening I I took massive action on some things I've been wanting to do, and I just committed to it.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: I got after it Friday, went into Saturday, worked on it some more, uh, took Sunday to enjoy um watching some football, hanging out with the fam.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: And then Monday came.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: You know, Mondays are tough.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: Um, not because it's Monday, just because it's it's a little bit of a gear set, you know, switching gears.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: You're like, okay, I gotta get back to the office.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: You know, I've got staffies and uh, you know, a multitude of things at hand when you get to the office.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: So Monday's always just a you know, switching those gears, right?
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: But when I woke up Monday, I I was like, I just I felt very present, but very I don't know, uh joyful maybe.
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: That's maybe that's the word I'm looking for.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: Just I just felt joy Monday morning.
- 6:47SPEAKER_01: And I didn't do a lot in my morning routine on Monday just because um I was pretty sore from over the weekend.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: So I just I was just really trying to sit in the office and just mentally kind of going through some things and putting some things on paper.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, I feel good today, man, and got up, got things moving, and you know, headed off to the office.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: And you know, Mondays being Mondays, things started and your day begins, and then I got a ding on the on the cell phone, and that ding had a drastic positive impact on my life at the moment.
- 7:25SPEAKER_01: I cannot talk about it right now, unfortunately, but we will one day.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Um that set some other things in motion that I've also been working on behind the scenes, which um Shannon's been a part of.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Um it seems to me when the tide changes sometimes the sky's the limit.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Uh you just don't know what what the what's possible until it happens.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: True, true.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: It it's such a difference from you know when we are feeling pretty stuck, just kind of the same old grind, uh getting worn out, and wondering, oh, you know, and then yeah, it change and um how you know from feeling stuck not knowing what to do, and then suddenly like it's it's movement, is what it is from from lack of movement and feeling pretty stuck to something moved for you Monday when you got that dean.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: Something moved for you even Friday evening when you just decided to commit and move forward with that thing that was up on the shelf for you.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: Like it's you know, so I think a lot of what we're describing with the you know, the tide changing, you know, or moving from feeling who pretty under a heavy load to feeling more joy, you know, is generally uh something moves, you know, and it's and we aren't as stuck anymore.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: And so, and as you just experienced, you created a lot of movement, you received a lot more, and and that you know, change movement is can be so relieving, and uh, I'm glad you're experiencing that.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: I appreciate that, Shannon.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: And I probably need to clarify that the ding on Monday and the thing that I chose to take action on Friday, they those two things were coinciding.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: So I the thing that happened on Monday, I assumed that that was a dead end because I I I just thought it was a dead end.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: And so that's what led me to take that massive action on Friday on the other option that I was weighing out, right?
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: That's interesting how that works.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Ah, this is a dead end, okay.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: Well, then I'm going to take this massive action myself.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: And as not almost as soon as you did that, pulled the trigger, and like, okay, here we go, committed.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: And then, oh, ding, here's here's that other thing now.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And it's almost like we demonstrate to the universe, or you know, like, hey, okay, I'm committing this direction, and then ah, it's about time.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Here you go.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: Ding.
- 10:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean it's you you can't design it any better.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: Because I'm gonna be honest with you, when I and I've talked about it before, is when I I'm a very hyper-focused person, you know this.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: Out of everyone on the planet, Shannon knows you um I get hyper-focused, man.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: And you know, my family talks about it all the time.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Like, when when dad gets something in the brain and he's gonna do it, it it's it's all or none for me.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: I I that's just that's just me.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: And that's the way I was Friday night when I decided to pull the trigger per se on that action.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: I was like, I'm all in, I'm all in.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And I just started just getting after it into the late evening hours of Friday night, back at it on Saturday, like I said, and then boom, Monday, that thing that I thought was completely off the radar.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: It was like, oh, back on radar.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: And I and I still pursued that because I I don't ever believe that I personally don't believe that when when uh any opportunity comes, it's okay to have a conversation.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: What are you gonna lose?
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: You're just gathering more information, more information.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: And to me, it's literally a 50-50.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: It's you know, it's that old like sales thing, right?
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: Either the guy's gonna say yay or nay.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Yes or no.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: But if you don't ask, it's always a no.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: So in my case, I was like, well, it's back on the radar.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: I'm not going to ignore this, so let's have a conversation.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: You know, and unfortunately, not unfortunately, but fortunately, uh, that was a great conversation, and we'll we'll see where that leads um down the road.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: But it's it's just sometimes, man, it's hard to put things into actual words when you're dealing with things that most of us probably don't even understand.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: You know, especially when we're talking about things on this podcast which we can't provide any details once again in order to say, wait, wait, wait, but I really want to know.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately, that's just where we are, but um, I I have a a feeling, and I'll just put it out there for the universe.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Uh I I will have a definitive answer next week.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you will be able to talk about some things.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then that answer and that journey is going to open up a lot for me to be able to discuss moving forward in our episodes.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So looking, I'm looking forward to that to be honest with you.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: It's been it's been a lot, man.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're used to that.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: I hate to say I am, man, but gosh darn, man.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's been going on.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: And today I uh went out and had some more conversations with some people, and you know, something dawned on me today, too, when I was coming to the podcast.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: I um there's so many people, no matter what we're doing um for a living or a job or a role or whatever you want to call it out there.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: We have all these relationships out there, right?
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Um people have labels for them, I don't want to get into that, but just relationships.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: And it's sometimes it's very refreshing when you have an opportunity to talk to some people and to see immediately that they see value in you and they see value in what you provide, but more so they're willing to pull alongside of you, man, and just offer their some assistance.
- 14:33SPEAKER_01: You know, and sometimes it's from people that you would honestly you're not expecting that from.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: And over the last seven days now for sure, um, I've had a lot of conversations with some of the relationships I've built.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: And it's just been an amazing thing to see people you know come alongside you and be like, hey man, if you get this thing going, you call me and I've got some, you know, blah blah blah blah blah, you know.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: That that's kind of next level because the first thing you describe just I'm I will sorry, I gotta do my duty as a therapist.
- 15:14SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: Mostly we gotta be able to provide that for ourselves, you know, the knowing we are valuable, that more internal validation and stuff.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: And while also it's nice to get it externally when others recognize our value and you know and but the next level, not only do they recognize, hey, this dude's money, but then they put their money where their mouth is, and like, dude, uh, how you not only do I recognize you are a value, and I I want to come alongside you, I want to support you, partner with you, do business with you, whatever it is, because I recognize your value and I want to be a part of that.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean I would like to say, you know, I I know where my value is, and I've I've talked about a lot here in this in this room and on our podcast.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: Like I know my I know the journey I'm on, I know my path, I know what I want to leave on this beautiful planet once I'm gone.
- 16:12SPEAKER_01: But you know, when you are be careful how I say this.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: When people take things for granted, whether it's other people, other relationships, whatever the case may be, and you're used to that, when that's your norm for a long period of time, when it's just you're just used to not feeling appreciated, or you're not used to feeling whatever the word is for a long duration of time.
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: It hits a little bit harder when somebody uh sees it instantaneously.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: Thank you for that.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: I I understand that excuse me.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: This for example, this happened well much too much throughout uh history throughout our society, you know, but just you know kids growing up in a family in which they they just didn't feel um a lot of um love or support or safety or super cared for by their caretakers, whether parents, you know, often usually parents or whoever, you know, just for whatever.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And there's no judgment, there's no criticism or anything, but just kind of, you know, it it's pretty common, you know, it's a lot of kids being raised in um some pretty tough situations, have some pretty tough upbringings, you know, to where yeah, like they don't even know that that even exists, you know.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: Um and then fast forward many, many years, they're adults, you know, and they from their upbringing they have that conditioning of just like oof, having to rely on self or you know, just ooh, try to earn it, you know, be good enough, perform, perform, you know, work hard.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: If you work hard enough, you'll you know, you might be acceptable at least for today and and all that.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And then suddenly someone in their life comes along beside them and says, Man, I see you, I see who you really are, and you you are incredible, and you and and that's not because of what you do or how hard you work or for any other reason than I just I s I like you, I see valuing you, I you know, I d XYZ, and and when when something like that is almost new and then like to your point, it can hit really hard because that had not really ever been received like that in the past.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it I mean it's just it's just a very pleasant feeling to know that let's use this as a uh hypothetical, you know, it's like you slap your resume down in front of you know a couple strangers per se, right?
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: And immediately they're like, uh, when do you want to work for us?
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: You're like, what?
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Like why would you hire a guy like me?
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: They can see it immediately, and that's just on paper, they haven't even got a chance to meet you as a human being or a person, right?
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: They're just yeah, they're just looking at your snapshot, right?
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Because that's what a resume is just a little snapshot, and they're like, Man, we see the value, and that value I need in my company.
- 19:51SPEAKER_01: So let's have a conversation.
- 19:53SPEAKER_01: And I think a lot of times, man, we just we get so ingrained in the day-to-day, man, and you get so ingrained into the grind that I think just sometimes we might lose sight of some things along the way.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: More specifically, how valuable we actually are, because the day-to-day grind when we're just okay, working, working, working for it, earning it, doing trying to do good enough, trying to keep up, trying to do our best, da-da-da-da-da.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: And then it does start to it just pushes us right back into those old conditioning, you know, performative, you know, based.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Um and so once in a while to have that reminder to experience like, dude, no, actually.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Just um I see you be beyond you know all this cool stuff you're doing.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: Like, wow, you're you're an impressive human being.
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: And that we forget that.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: We we forget that.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: And it's it's so nice to have that reminder once in a while if we have a hard time reminding ourselves.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know I don't know if we've if I've made the statement before, but I'm gonna make it today because I think it's very valid and important to say.
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: Somebody asked me one time, as a leader, a leader of people, what what would you want what's the one thing that you would hope or that you would want people to say about you as a leader when you have led people?
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: And I could not answer that right away.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: I I really couldn't.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: I I said can I can we come back to this?
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Like I I really want to put some thought into that because I didn't want to give an emotional reaction, I didn't want to give an emotional response, or I didn't want to give just some dried up canned response, you know what I mean, that floating around my subconscious somewhere, you know.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: And uh Jesus.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: And he's The person said no, he goes, actually I I I think that's a great answer.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Is take some time to think about and let you know, but I want to come back to this.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: I said, Oh okay.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: So I thought about it for uh it was probably two or three days, I think.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: I I just I really was thinking about you know, not just my leadership as uh in a corporation or in the military or or in my family, but just as a leader of other human beings, you know, like what what would I hope they would say about me and what I came up with with for me personally as a leader is I would hope that whoever I've had the honor to lead or be their leader would say that I made them feel comfortable enough that they felt value and that they were important.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Because I as a leader I don't think there's anything, in my opinion, that would mean more to me is when I have a staff member or somebody that was in the military under my leadership that would say, Mike made you feel you were important because you were important to him.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: And we're gonna sorry, I gotta do my therapist thing.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: We're gonna pause and just of course nobody can make anybody else feel anything, but we we know what Michael's actually describing.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: We don't want to try to make other people feel any certain way, but if Michael pr creates the circumstances in which his employees or whoever feel important, feel valued, you know.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And you know, he's not doing that trying to make them feel that way, but just like, no, because it's just legit.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: He values these people, he really cares about these people, and and they recognize it, they experience it, they're they're just experiencing it and feeling it because it's just a natural byproduct of Mike's leadership.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and the reason I bring that up is because it's come up a lot over the last eight weeks and um pains me uh as a leader, and it pains me as a human being to hear other people say, Man, I just I just I'm just another number, man.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I'm just I'm just collecting my check, I'm just another number.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: And I'm not speaking specifically of what's going on in my inner circle, but outside of that.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Um I I talked a lot about that today with a uh a fellow acquaintance of mine, and we talked a lot about leadership, and you know, he was telling me the same thing.
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: It's he's like, Mike, I don't understand.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: He goes, why can't this industry be different?
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: And I said, it can be different.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: It can be, but there's a lot that goes into that.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: It's not just black and white, man.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: It it's it's a very deep answer, and there's a very deep-rooted path that I think a lot of people have to have all the same buy-in, right?
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: Because if Company A has one guy that is all leadership driven, and he understands in his personal role that that's what his focus is, and you've got nine other leaders that are like, I we don't really care.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: We're just here, we're doing our thing, we're taking care of business, we're getting paid, everybody's happy.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: That's a tough road.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Comparatively, if you have some a few like-minded people that also support that leadership and what the importance of leadership really means to people, then I think you have an ability to really start to maybe have some good conversations on what does that change look like for our for company A's people, right?
- 25:48SPEAKER_01: The culture, the the importance of the employees.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Because that's a hard conversation because in most industries, and especially present day, um how way, in my opinion, way too much um importance is given to the bottom line to profit making money, yeah, and so much so like that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's uh I I'll stay off my soapbox right now, but yeah, when making money becomes more important than human beings and their quality of life, and and these huge companies, organizations start making a lot of decisions based more upon dollar signs than the people who they employ.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: You know, the um these conversations are, you know, I mean, we could show up all day like, hey man, like it we could can we take better care of our people?
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: And of course the answer is gonna be the slap back, no man, we need to make more money, you know, because that is often given precedent.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's uh there's definitely a there's definitely a thing out there that you know needs to be addressed.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: And I think there are people out there addressing it.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: I think there are some really great companies out there.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: Thank you, many, many companies out there that do take good care of their people, while also, I mean, this is both and you you gotta be profitable, you gotta make money, you gotta be able to pay your employees, you you gotta be able to, you know, provide for your customers or whoever.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: And so it's it's that balance.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: It definitely is, and you know, I'm I'll stand on this for forever.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: Is when you take good care of people because it's actually genuine and you actually mean something to you, I don't think you have an issue with people buying into your company.
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: I don't I think the culture will take care of itself and people that want to be there and people who want to be underneath that flagship of whatever the flag is that you're flying, they'll buy in 100%.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: And uh contraries, if you begin focusing too much on profit and start neglecting your people, yes, good luck with that.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: You're gonna lose people.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: It's not gonna go super well, uh, you know, if you get too imbalanced the other way.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we're gonna wrap this up here in a couple minutes, and I'll I'll just leave with this.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Uh, I love it.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: You know, people don't leave good companies.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: They leave bad leadership.
- 28:35unknown: Yeah.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: And that's the saddest part of what we do as leaders is people aren't leaving the company because a lot of people don't want to leave the company.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: But they just can't stomach the bad leadership anymore.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: They can't stomach the bad supervisor or the bad manager anymore.
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: So they leave.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: So many stories, so many stories from so many clients who across lots of industries, right?
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Oh, you you name it.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: And that you get that one uh just I was gonna say a-hole, but I'm gonna actually but translate it to poor broken individual who isn't who isn't even aware of their big behaviors.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not like they're intentionally being an a-hole, but they're so they've been so like messed up and broken that they just they have these really gnarly behaviors that are tough to deal with, but they can make people's lives hell.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: They can like we've seen it, there's countless examples of you get that bad boss, that bad supervisor, someone in power who like I'll just come out and say personality disorder.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: Like, oh yeah, there's a lot of them out there, cluster B, and yeah.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: And you get one of these disordered individuals in a position of power, and they're very good at attaining these positions of power because of some of these disorders.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: And man, they can make people's life hell.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: They just have to show up to work every day and feel almost nauseous just having to try and drag back in the office because they know how they're gonna be treated.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: They know, and um I I oh I feel so bad for so many who feel stuck in positions like that.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: Like, well, I gotta make money, I can't just quit my job, but man, I I'm so tired of being treated so bad.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: And yeah, and that's that stuck feeling.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: That's that, you know, just when things can get really heavy, and um and eventually, you know, um opportunities present, something changes, shifts happen, and um good people will like energy attracts like energy.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: Good people will gravitate toward other good people who are running good businesses, who are good leaders.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well said, man.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: Well said.
