• 0:21
Speaker 1: Hey tolerators, listens to all the men I've tolerated before
• 0:24
Speaker 1: with Nabley Katona, your weekly look at everyday misogyny. Today,
• 0:28
Speaker 1: we are welcoming my friend Shana's. It's Chanaz's first time.
• 0:35
Speaker 1: Shana's and I met through the Glamorous Trash Book Club
• 0:38
Speaker 1: and she's one of the funniest people you could have
• 0:40
Speaker 1: in your inner circle. She's here to set me straight
• 0:43
Speaker 1: on the America Sweethearts docuseries about the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. Yes, yes, because,
• 0:51
Speaker 1: as we know, my initial in like a in like
• 0:56
Speaker 1: a fugue stay of watching the docuseries, I was like,
• 0:59
Speaker 1: this is about sisterhood, this is about empowerment, this is
• 1:03
Speaker 1: about women. And then everyone was like, this was about
• 1:08
Speaker 1: not allowing women to have eating disorders and get helped.
• 1:12
Speaker 2: Yes, wait, I'm chiming in now right, Yes, yeah, absolutely, yes,
• 1:19
Speaker 2: so yeah, go for it, and about women just like
• 1:23
Speaker 2: not being paid for they're also that for their talent.
• 1:27
Speaker 1: I did have to break it to my dad and
• 1:30
Speaker 1: his wife downstairs at dinner that they get paid like
• 1:32
Speaker 1: thirteen dollars an hour, and my dad's response was, well,
• 1:37
Speaker 1: in the eighties, they didn't get paid at all. I
• 1:40
Speaker 1: was like, okay, okay, okay.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: But still like I think in the eighties or in
• 1:48
Speaker 2: the seventies, I think that's when Victoria's mom was a cheerleader, right,
• 1:52
Speaker 2: was it the seventies or eighties? I forget around that time.
• 1:56
Speaker 2: And she said we were justsed and I wrote the quote,
• 1:59
Speaker 2: we were as into disco music and snapping our fingers
• 2:02
Speaker 2: and we were just happy to be there and looking
• 2:04
Speaker 2: cute and doing whatever. But it's like times have changed.
• 2:08
Speaker 2: These girls are doing damn Simone Biles gymnastics out there
• 2:13
Speaker 2: they are and their bodies are going through it. Did
• 2:16
Speaker 2: you see the one scene where I uh Anna Kate's
• 2:20
Speaker 2: sister Caroline I believe was her name, came out with the.
• 2:23
  Speaker 1: Like mobility aides.
• 2:26
Speaker 2: Yes, I was like, oh, I was in shock.
• 2:30
Speaker 1: You're like girl no. And anyone who has a back
• 2:34
Speaker 1: a dance background, or a cheerleading background will tell you that,
• 2:38
Speaker 1: like it ravages your body, you have like no mobility
• 2:44
Speaker 1: after you're done. Like I cracked during the Lady Gaga
• 2:46
Speaker 1: docu series because of how much pain she was physically
• 2:50
Speaker 1: in all the time. I couldn't handle watching it.
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Did you cheerlead? Were you a cheerleader?
• 2:55
Speaker 1: No, I did you cheerlead?
• 2:58
  Speaker 2: No?
• 2:59
Speaker 1: No, I was fat and funny in high school. That
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: was my job.
• 3:05
Speaker 2: I was goofy and uncoordinated. So there I was mine.
• 3:10
Speaker 2: I did try out. I did try out and not
• 3:12
Speaker 2: make it. So the whatever.
• 3:16
Speaker 1: You stood in front of your own Kelly's with a
• 3:19
Speaker 1: clipboard to be like, oh, okay, yeah.
• 3:22
Speaker 2: It's Judge Charshley. But I have so much respect for them, yes,
• 3:28
Speaker 2: and their obvious talent and their dance talent and just everything.
• 3:34
Speaker 1: One of my first memories is my kindergarten graduation ceremony.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: You know when they're like kindergarteners, you did it, You're
• 3:41
Speaker 1: moving on to the first grade, and they have like
• 3:44
Speaker 1: a little reception for parents to come in and whatnot.
• 3:47
Speaker 1: And they had us like lay on butcher paper and
• 3:50
Speaker 1: a friend traced your body and then you decorated that
• 3:54
Speaker 1: body with what you wanted to be when you were
• 3:56
Speaker 1: growing up. And I must have not known what jobs were,
• 4:00
Speaker 1: so I was like, I want to be a cheerleader,
• 4:02
Speaker 1: like it was my only frame of reference.
• 4:06
Speaker 2: And little did you know that although it could be
• 4:10
Speaker 2: possibly a career, a short lived one anyway, but you
• 4:14
Speaker 2: still wouldn't be paid the.
• 4:15
Speaker 3: Way right, I would have to sell my soul to
• 4:20
Speaker 3: TikTok and to U appearing yes to Kelly and Judy
• 4:26
Speaker 3: to make twelve dollars an hour.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: But no, that's my background and cheerleading. In kindergarten. I
• 4:31
Speaker 1: didn't know what jobs were, so I was like, I
• 4:33
Speaker 1: want to be a cheerleader. I don't even know if
• 4:35
Speaker 1: I had ever seen a cheerleader up to that point.
• 4:38
Speaker 1: My uncle might have still been in high school and
• 4:41
Speaker 1: we may have gone to his games, and that's why
• 4:43
Speaker 1: I knew what cheerleaders were, but unknown. But I do
• 4:48
Speaker 1: remember like my great aunt's cheering and telling my grandma
• 4:51
Speaker 1: like it's because she's so talented, and my mom was like,
• 4:55
Speaker 1: at what I took?
• 4:59
Speaker 2: Balance think about it. I mean I did have one part.
• 5:02
Speaker 2: When I was in elementary school, I took ballet, which
• 5:06
Speaker 2: I loved, but I was not flexible at all, like
• 5:10
Speaker 2: with them doing the high kicks and the splits at
• 5:13
Speaker 2: the end, Like I can't even touch my toes.
• 5:18
  Speaker 1: No, and I'm.
• 5:22
Speaker 2: Pretty sure I'm loaded. I'm closer to the ground than
• 5:25
Speaker 2: most people and I cannot touch my toes. So it's
• 5:27
Speaker 2: like I have no flexibilities whatsoever.
• 5:30
Speaker 1: I have a video to send you after this. That
• 5:32
Speaker 1: cracks me up every time I see it. But I
• 5:36
Speaker 1: so I took ballet right around kindergarten in first grade
• 5:42
Speaker 1: because it was when I lived near my grandma, and
• 5:45
Speaker 1: I remember that my mom and my grandma made me
• 5:48
Speaker 1: quit because I got too tired walking around the JC
• 5:50
Speaker 1: Pennies with them and I didn't want to go and
• 5:53
Speaker 1: I cried and they were like, okay, no ballerina for
• 5:55
Speaker 1: you don't get to be a ballerina. But we did
• 5:58
Speaker 1: a tap dance number to les Poisons from The Little
• 6:02
Speaker 1: Mermaid and that's all I remember.
• 6:05
Speaker 2: Oh my, that sounds awesome actually.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: Honestly, Okay, can we talk about what tricked me during
• 6:13
Speaker 1: the docuseriies, Oh, what tricked you? What tricked me? Did
• 6:18
Speaker 1: you watch the original Making the Team on MTVVH one?
• 6:22
Speaker 2: Okay, no, But after I watched this documentary, which I loved,
• 6:29
Speaker 2: but I was so obsessed with it that I went
• 6:31
Speaker 2: back and I found it on Amazon and I watched
• 6:34
Speaker 2: like a couple episodes and then I just didn't really
• 6:37
Speaker 2: finish it from there.
• 6:39
Speaker 1: So, when I was in college and we had like
• 6:41
Speaker 1: bad college cable, Making the Team was my shit because
• 6:45
Speaker 1: they would play all day long, so you could just
• 6:48
Speaker 1: turn on the TV and know that you were going
• 6:50
Speaker 1: to watch cheerleading. I also love like cheerleading and dance
• 6:55
Speaker 1: shows to begin with, like dance bombs, center stage, all
• 6:58
Speaker 1: of those. So when I turned on the first episode
• 7:02
Speaker 1: and it was still Kelly, I was like, girl, you
• 7:04
Speaker 1: still kicking it like I had been watching the MTV
• 7:07
Speaker 1: show forty years ago. I was like, look at you.
• 7:10
Speaker 2: Oh, she's been there thirty four years. I wrote it
• 7:13
Speaker 2: down thirty four years with them.
• 7:15
Speaker 1: I know. And to me, I'm like, oh, they didn't
• 7:18
Speaker 1: even like trade you in for someone new and hot,
• 7:22
Speaker 1: because you would think that eventually they would, right right, Yeah,
• 7:29
Speaker 1: But they like truly have a really high esteem for
• 7:32
Speaker 1: her and Judy in the corporation. So I was like,
• 7:34
Speaker 1: they love strong women. Now do you have a.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: Question about this. Do you think they're getting paid?
• 7:43
Speaker 1: I believe they have to be getting paid because they're
• 7:46
Speaker 1: hired by the association. Well, I guess the cheerleaders would
• 7:50
Speaker 1: be hired by the association too, but they're like, not
• 7:53
Speaker 1: like CEO, but they're at least middle managed it on
• 7:57
Speaker 1: the totem pole, right.
• 7:59
Speaker 2: Yeah, I would think somebody's been there so long and
• 8:02
Speaker 2: Judy's been there forever too? Was Judy still there?
• 8:04
  Speaker 1: Yeah? Old?
• 8:05
Speaker 2: Oh so I would think they were getting paid.
• 8:08
Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't so, I wonder we could. We probably
• 8:12
Speaker 1: could have looked it up.
• 8:13
Speaker 2: Yeah right, let's just speculate.
• 8:17
Speaker 1: Another thing that tricked me into lulling me into this
• 8:21
Speaker 1: false sense of like white feminism, like everything's finally, don't
• 8:26
Speaker 1: think about it too hard is number one. We had
• 8:29
Speaker 1: a rough like summer, like emotional and mental wise when
• 8:32
Speaker 1: it came to women in general. I feel like every
• 8:35
Speaker 1: day I was just fighting for my life for someone
• 8:38
Speaker 1: to be nice on the internet about anyone, about anything.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: But I there there's that sorority.
• 8:47
Speaker 4: Type as sisterhood that these women present having, Like they
• 8:55
Speaker 4: ushered Reese into the Starbucks for the first time to
• 8:58
Speaker 4: be like, we will help you order your first iced tea,
• 9:02
Speaker 4: and I was like, that's beautiful.
• 9:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, I liked. I felt like they had that like
• 9:09
Speaker 2: sisterhood between each other and that like helping each other.
• 9:12
Speaker 2: And like the first episode, I believe when they were
• 9:16
Speaker 2: had the first cuts and like some of the what
• 9:20
Speaker 2: did they call them, the veterans got cut and they
• 9:24
Speaker 2: were crying and they were like, we're really happy for
• 9:26
Speaker 2: you rookies that just got into training camp but were
• 9:29
Speaker 2: really sad also and they're crying, and I just didn't
• 9:34
Speaker 2: really I was trying to connect with that. But I've
• 9:36
Speaker 2: never been a sorority type of girl. I'm not one
• 9:39
  Speaker 2: of those people that's like, I'm not a girl's girl.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: I'm not one of those, not one of those. But
• 9:43
Speaker 2: I'm just saying I've never like had the desire. I mean,
• 9:46
Speaker 2: I didn't go to college at the college age time,
• 9:50
Speaker 2: and I never had that desire to be in like
• 9:52
Speaker 2: a sorority or anything like that. Although I guess it
• 9:56
Speaker 2: seems kind of interesting, but I don't know. So I
• 9:59
Speaker 2: just didn't neckt with that crying over. I don't know.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: For me, it was more like, this can't be that
• 10:07
Speaker 1: toxic of a workplace environment because everyone is super close.
• 10:11
Speaker 1: But I was also like, but every toxic work environment
• 10:15
Speaker 1: I've had, I've gotten inappropriately close with everyone because you're
• 10:20
  Speaker 1: trauma bonding.
• 10:21
Speaker 2: And your family, you're such a family work family.
• 10:26
Speaker 1: You have to be doing it for the team. And
• 10:28
Speaker 1: that's another thing that it's hard to shit on the
• 10:31
Speaker 1: Cowboy Dallast cheerleaders because the girls are so ingrained in
• 10:36
Speaker 1: the culture and so sold that this is what they
• 10:39
Speaker 1: want to be doing.
• 10:40
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, And I do believe that some of the
• 10:46
Speaker 2: girls would. I mean, they were basically doing a lot
• 10:47
Speaker 2: of it for free. What am I saying? You know,
• 10:50
Speaker 2: they were working as the one a veteran said, they
• 10:53
Speaker 2: were working like it like equivalent to like Chick fil
• 10:56
Speaker 2: a or whatever. Yeah, I do believe kind of the
• 11:00
Speaker 2: they would do it for free. But I also believe
• 11:02
Speaker 2: they're they are they are the team, They're the asset.
• 11:08
Speaker 2: It's not the association or the company that's you know
• 11:13
  Speaker 2: what I mean.
• 11:14
Speaker 5: Like, Yeah, I just felt like, go on strike, go on,
• 11:18
Speaker 5: you know, That's all I was thinking.
• 11:21
Speaker 1: For as much as I've watched the Cowboy Dallas cheerleaders,
• 11:24
Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders and all of their like numbers
• 11:28
Speaker 1: and stuff, I've never sat down to watch a Cowboys game.
• 11:31
Speaker 1: Like I don't care about football, never.
• 11:34
Speaker 2: Don't even wasn't even thinking about them the entire time
• 11:37
Speaker 2: I was watching the documentary. When they had the part
• 11:39
Speaker 2: at the end where they're losing, I was like, oh, yeah,
• 11:42
Speaker 2: there's games, right, there's an actual game happening. Like I
• 11:47
Speaker 2: didn't give a crap about them.
• 11:49
Speaker 1: You're like Oh that's right. Men are trying to get
• 11:52
Speaker 1: to the super Bowl and Travis Kelsey is going to
• 11:54
Speaker 1: ruin that for them.
• 11:55
Speaker 2: Right right, Yeah, And I didn't even think about him even,
• 11:59
Speaker 2: Like I was like, Travis Kelsey's on the concourse, Like
• 12:02
  Speaker 2: that's how dumb I am, Like I don't know what's
• 12:04
Speaker 2: going on with football.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: So yeah, so it's like hard to ship on them
• 12:08
Speaker 1: because they're so happy about it, and I'm like, if
• 12:11
Speaker 1: you're that happy about it, then it must be good.
• 12:15
Speaker 1: But then, like I was telling my dad downstairs, I
• 12:18
Speaker 1: was like, so you do start to like see if
• 12:21
Speaker 1: you really squint at it, and if you think about it,
• 12:25
Speaker 1: and if enough of your friends yell at you about it,
• 12:27
Speaker 1: you do start to see the cracks.
• 12:30
Speaker 2: Yes, And and don't you think any think about other uh,
• 12:36
Speaker 2: other groups that women really really really want to belong to,
• 12:42
Speaker 2: and how these groups tend to be kind of toxic,
• 12:45
Speaker 2: like I would. I was comparing it to like pageants,
• 12:49
Speaker 2: like women really want to be in pageants, women really
• 12:52
Speaker 2: really wanted to want it to be in Playboy at
• 12:54
Speaker 2: one point, Like how toxic that is?
• 12:56
Speaker 1: Like you know, we need for a plate because you're
• 12:59
  Speaker 1: a play I.
• 13:01
Speaker 2: Don't even get to start it on Playboy, I will.
• 13:04
Speaker 2: There were so many connections though to Playboy with this.
• 13:07
Speaker 2: There was even like a snippet of like the Playboy
• 13:10
Speaker 2: Buddies in this. I could see so many connections with it.
• 13:13
Speaker 2: But but yeah, like just a model and a magazine,
• 13:16
Speaker 2: Like anything that's glossy, shiny, beautiful, seemingly on the outside,
• 13:22
Speaker 2: I feel like always on the inside there's something rotten.
• 13:25
Speaker 2: And I did feel this way about DCC totally.
• 13:28
Speaker 1: Yeah. And so one of my positives was I feel
• 13:33
Speaker 1: like they went over the top to keep the women safe.
• 13:38
Speaker 1: But so like you know how when they do photo
• 13:42
Speaker 1: ops and they're like that you can't touch the women.
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: I love that. I love that don't touch me, don't
• 13:49
Speaker 1: even look at me. You cant to stand next to me,
• 13:52
Speaker 1: but you never get you can look at me when
• 13:54
Speaker 1: the picture is on your phone. But I favorite part
• 14:00
Speaker 1: is they're not going to scream at men, no, you
• 14:03
Speaker 1: can't touch her the entire day, because that brings down
• 14:05
Speaker 1: the vibe and that makes everyone stressed out. So they
• 14:08
Speaker 1: gave them like a little emotional support football, like oh no, no,
• 14:12
  Speaker 1: don't touch.
• 14:12
Speaker 2: Her, like a child, like a dog, like a dog, literally,
• 14:17
Speaker 2: like a dog, which I kind of love because I
• 14:20
Speaker 2: do feel like I was trying to like put myself
• 14:22
Speaker 2: in their shoes, because it is kind of an instinct
• 14:24
Speaker 2: to like put your arm around someone when you're taking
• 14:26
Speaker 2: a picture. Like I get that, and I think even
• 14:29
Speaker 2: more for a man with.
• 14:30
Speaker 6: A beautiful woman, they're probably just like, oh, like turn
• 14:35
Speaker 6: into mush when they're around someone like you know, young
• 14:38
Speaker 6: beautiful cheerlader girl, whatever woman.
• 14:42
Speaker 2: But it was hilarious.
• 14:43
Speaker 1: They were like hands on the football, on the football, Oh,
• 14:46
Speaker 1: you get to touch this? I because all I could
• 14:48
Speaker 1: think about was gaming conventions that I go to where
• 14:53
Speaker 1: I watch like female actresses and like female voice actresses
• 14:57
Speaker 1: or whatever have to walk through them masses of the
• 15:01
Speaker 1: nerds to get to their seat or get to lunch.
• 15:04
Speaker 1: One time I watched summer Glow from.
• 15:08
Speaker 2: Fire Okay yeah yeah, her.
• 15:10
Speaker 1: Boyfriend and or her bodyguard. He was some beautiful man.
• 15:14
Speaker 1: I was jealous was touching her, literally had her pin
• 15:18
Speaker 1: to his side. I didn't even think that her feet
• 15:21
Speaker 1: were touching the floor because she, like you could just
• 15:25
Speaker 1: tell she did not want to be like left to
• 15:29
Speaker 1: her own devices in this crowd. And I imagine I've
• 15:33
Speaker 1: overheard like actresses because I show up to everything early
• 15:37
Speaker 1: and I talked to everybody, so I've overheard actresses say
• 15:41
Speaker 1: to like the gen Con handlers like I don't want
• 15:45
Speaker 1: to you will come back and get me at eleven,
• 15:47
Speaker 1: like I'm not walking out of the room by byself,
• 15:50
Speaker 1: Like I like, I want an escort to my uber,
• 15:53
Speaker 1: to my hotel. And I'm like yeah, because people, Because
• 15:57
Speaker 1: I also watched to get that women who in cosplay,
• 16:01
Speaker 1: who have no bodyguards get taken advantage of the entire con. Ugh,
• 16:08
Speaker 1: so could you imagine?
• 16:10
Speaker 2: No? No, honestly no, No. I did love that though,
• 16:14
Speaker 2: and I I uh, and it made me also think
• 16:17
Speaker 2: of Kanu Reeves, you know Kana Reeves when he takes
• 16:19
Speaker 2: a picture with anyone.
• 16:23
Speaker 1: I love that he didn't even touch Dolly part In it,
• 16:26
Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, I would have had to
• 16:28
Speaker 1: cling to Dolly part In like a spider monkey, like
• 16:30
Speaker 1: take me with you. Like, no, he never touches an article.
• 16:35
Speaker 1: And at first I used to think that that was
• 16:37
Speaker 1: sus because I'm like, are you so much of a
• 16:39
Speaker 1: weirdo that you can't touch people appropriately? But then I
• 16:43
Speaker 1: was like, no, I think it's literally him over corrected
• 16:46
Speaker 1: to try and be the nice guy.
• 16:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, and probably he doesn't want to be touched either,
• 16:50
  Speaker 2: you know.
• 16:51
Speaker 1: Well, so Will Wheaton didn't want to be touched at
• 16:54
Speaker 1: gen Con because he had the like a cold or something,
• 16:58
Speaker 1: and like people who were real bummed out about it.
• 17:00
Speaker 1: I was like, you'll just get to touch will we
• 17:02
Speaker 1: end because he's here.
• 17:04
Speaker 2: No, I don't think you should touch anyone literally, just nobody.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: No. Like, I had a really great encounter with one
• 17:12
Speaker 1: of my favorite, uh actual playpeople, d and d uh
• 17:16
Speaker 1: Abria Erongar, and like we were chatty and I asked her.
• 17:20
Speaker 1: I was like, hey, would you be up for a
• 17:22
Speaker 1: picture and she was like yeah. She's like like I'm
• 17:26
Speaker 1: setting up my phone or whatever, and she like flicks
• 17:28
Speaker 1: my shoulder and she's like, by the way, it would
• 17:30
Speaker 1: be really fucking weird for you and I to be
• 17:32
Speaker 1: like getting along and having fun and for you to
• 17:35
Speaker 1: be like hey a picture and me be like, no,
• 17:37
Speaker 1: fuck you. I had this and like storm off, like
• 17:42
Speaker 1: and then I asked her it was like, you up
• 17:43
Speaker 1: for a hug and she's like yeah, we're besties now.
• 17:46
Speaker 1: So like there are ways to get around it to
• 17:48
Speaker 1: where it's like cool and part of the vibe. I
• 17:51
Speaker 1: don't think that men have those social skills. I'm just
• 17:54
  Speaker 1: gonna say it.
• 17:55
Speaker 2: I don't think so either. Now I fully agree with you.
• 17:58
Speaker 1: No, because I didn't get the during the docu series
• 18:02
Speaker 1: until men were in the dressing room just looking at
• 18:05
Speaker 1: pictures of them, and I'm like, I hate that.
• 18:07
Speaker 2: Is I hated that. I didn't like the person that
• 18:11
Speaker 2: was showing them around and doing the jokes and stuff.
• 18:14
  Speaker 2: I just I just didn't like. I mean, I'm sure
• 18:17
Speaker 2: he's a perfectly nice person and maybe it's funny in
• 18:20
Speaker 2: the moment or something. And that was totally stage too, right,
• 18:23
  Speaker 2: I mean, that wasn't a real thing.
• 18:24
Speaker 1: You don't think well, number one, everything was stage like
• 18:27
Speaker 1: anything that had anything official to do with like the
• 18:30
Speaker 1: actual corporation. Kelly had her hands all over it.
• 18:33
Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, true, true.
• 18:34
Speaker 1: And because you can tell there's a difference between how
• 18:38
Speaker 1: the Corporation was filmed and then everyone's one on one interviews,
• 18:43
Speaker 1: because what I thought was so interesting was the women
• 18:46
Speaker 1: were secretly allowed to tell us like the cons of
• 18:50
Speaker 1: being a cheerleader, and it was men geotagged my car,
• 18:54
Speaker 1: they find my Instagram and dos me I've had guys
• 18:58
Speaker 1: show up to my apartment, So that was something irrifying, terrifying,
• 19:03
Speaker 1: So that was something else that like really I was like,
• 19:07
Speaker 1: oh no, this is doing the work because it's finally allowed.
• 19:10
Speaker 1: Like they can't go on TikTok and they're like, another
• 19:12
Speaker 1: dude geotagged my car or whatever, because the Dallas Cowboys
• 19:16
Speaker 1: are probably watching their instagrams all the time, but they
• 19:20
Speaker 1: can go on this very official Netflix documentary and then go, well,
• 19:24
Speaker 1: I was just answering his question.
• 19:27
Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that was Yeah, thats scary.
• 19:30
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, but I love that part because I was like, yeah, no,
• 19:32
Speaker 1: these are the things that women have to talk about,
• 19:36
  Speaker 1: because I mean, I I think I was like twenty
• 19:40
Speaker 1: six when a woman working retail told me that she
• 19:43
Speaker 1: wears a fake name on her name tag, so creepy
• 19:47
Speaker 1: guys don't know her real name. Yes, And it never
• 19:51
Speaker 1: occurred to me that that was like another layer of
• 19:53
Speaker 1: protection you would have to have at your job at Target.
• 19:58
Speaker 2: Yes, because people get very familiar with you. You know,
• 20:01
Speaker 2: I work in the climber and I have my name
• 20:04
Speaker 2: tag boom right there. But yes, people do get very
• 20:07
Speaker 2: familiar when they see your name tag and they start
• 20:09
Speaker 2: it's weird having a stranger, like call you by your name.
• 20:13
  Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
• 20:14
Speaker 2: I definitely had that in uh as like a cashier
• 20:17
Speaker 2: and stuff hasn't really happened to me at my current job.
• 20:19
Speaker 2: But well, let's just get into the whole like assault
• 20:23
Speaker 2: that happened. Then, what did you think about that? Like,
• 20:26
  Speaker 2: let's I mean, I feel like we're kind of moving
• 20:27
  Speaker 2: towards that.
• 20:28
Speaker 1: We're moving towards it. So in the last couple of episodes,
• 20:32
Speaker 1: they're at a game. I'm just giving context to people
• 20:35
Speaker 1: who may or may not have watched the docu series
• 20:38
Speaker 1: and a camera man who was clearly hired by the
• 20:42
Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, or not the cheerleaders, but the Dallas Cowboys. See,
• 20:46
  Speaker 1: I don't even realize that it's a separation. Yeah, there's
• 20:50
Speaker 1: a whole corporation that has nothing to do with the cheerleaders.
• 20:53
Speaker 1: But he's like a sports photographer or videographer or whatever.
• 20:57
Speaker 1: He's on the field and as one of the women
• 21:01
Speaker 1: is passing him, he grabs her. Yeah, yeah, what the
• 21:07
Speaker 1: buck number one? Like forty people had to have seen you, right, like.
• 21:13
Speaker 2: The raps are from behind, grabs her waist.
• 21:16
Speaker 1: In her butt right and like presses himself into her.
• 21:21
Speaker 1: Where did you put your camera? Did you throw your
• 21:23
Speaker 1: equipment down to get a growth?
• 21:26
  Speaker 2: I thought processes.
• 21:29
  Speaker 1: Well, And I think that I think that's a clear
• 21:33
Speaker 1: indicator of how normalized the sexualization of women to begin with,
• 21:38
Speaker 1: and how unsafe women are in public to begin with.
• 21:41
Speaker 1: Is that that man did that maybe on national television.
• 21:45
Speaker 1: He doesn't know where all the cameras are.
• 21:46
  Speaker 2: Exactly, and he's a cameraman and he's.
• 21:49
  Speaker 1: A gunny man.
• 21:50
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's happened to me. So I get it. I
• 21:53
Speaker 2: totally get it. I'm just I'm not surprised about the
• 21:57
Speaker 2: act itself. I am surprised, Like we're saying, like the
• 22:01
Speaker 2: so the public ness of it.
• 22:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, And she immediately she finishes her routine because
• 22:10
Speaker 1: she's a professional, right, But then she goes off and
• 22:13
Speaker 1: she finds one of the like on duty cops and
• 22:17
Speaker 1: she's like, I'm filing charges and it was that guy.
• 22:21
Speaker 1: And then they roll back tape to validify her story
• 22:26
Speaker 1: and she does get to press charges and that man
• 22:28
Speaker 1: loses his job. But I don't think it goes any further,
• 22:32
Speaker 1: Like I think everything was dropped. A lot of us
• 22:35
Speaker 1: in the cookies had some differing reads on this situation.
• 22:40
Speaker 1: And this is how you can tell. I'm always playing
• 22:42
Speaker 1: on my phone when I'm watching TV. As I put
• 22:45
Speaker 1: my phone down, and Kelly goes, she's talking to who
• 22:48
Speaker 1: the police? So her boss goes, she's talking to the police.
• 22:51
Speaker 1: Oh okay, good, that's exactly who she should be talking to.
• 22:55
Speaker 1: And my brain goes ally like she's she's sticking up
• 22:59
Speaker 1: for her, like the organization is going to protect this woman.
• 23:03
Speaker 1: Never happens. The last time I was harassed at a job,
• 23:07
Speaker 1: my boss said, can you just change the direction that
• 23:10
Speaker 1: you walk to the office, Like can you Like, there's
• 23:13
Speaker 1: not he's a known one and there's nothing we can do.
• 23:16
  Speaker 2: Oh my god.
• 23:18
Speaker 1: Yeah. And then the next within months of that, we
• 23:22
Speaker 1: got a new my boss's boss, so we got like
• 23:26
Speaker 1: a new head haun show, and he fired that guy
• 23:29
Speaker 1: like he went through people's HR records. Yeah, fuck that guy.
• 23:32
Speaker 2: Fuck and fuck that guy by the way.
• 23:35
Speaker 1: That guy. But yeah, and like so I was just
• 23:38
Speaker 1: told like tough enough, I don't know, like change your
• 23:42
Speaker 1: walking pattern. I was also told to stop engaging in it,
• 23:46
Speaker 1: stop talking about Yeah, oh okay.
• 23:48
Speaker 2: Stop walking, stop walking.
• 23:50
Speaker 1: Stop walking. So so I so in my eyes, Kelly's
• 23:56
Speaker 1: on everyone's side. The woman gets to tell her story
• 24:00
Speaker 1: to Netflix and police and all of it, and the
• 24:04
Speaker 1: women rally around her for the rest of the game
• 24:06
Speaker 1: to make her feel safe and that she's not walking
• 24:09
Speaker 1: to her car alone or anything like that. So I
• 24:12
Speaker 1: was like, oh, green plaids all around every one, ten
• 24:15
Speaker 1: out of ten. But you had a different read on it.
• 24:18
Speaker 2: I had a slight well someone, well, well, I can say, Chelsea, yeah, Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea.
• 24:24
  Speaker 1: Yeah.
• 24:25
Speaker 2: He felt like she felt like she thought she wasn't
• 24:30
Speaker 2: protecting her like that she had kind of like a
• 24:32
Speaker 2: look on her face and stuff. And I kind of
• 24:34
Speaker 2: agreed with that too. I thought she kind of was
• 24:38
Speaker 2: maybe putting on a little for the cameras and just
• 24:40
Speaker 2: like I felt like Kelly was hyper aware of the
• 24:44
Speaker 2: cameras at all times. Like there were very very few
• 24:49
Speaker 2: slip ups, very few, I thought. And I did sense
• 24:54
Speaker 2: a little bit of like maybe a look or and
• 24:56
Speaker 2: I could have been just maybe just super like, I
• 25:00
Speaker 2: don't know, suspicious possibly because who wouldn't be suspicious of
• 25:04
Speaker 2: like that corporation being like horrible to their staff. But
• 25:10
Speaker 2: I did notice a look she gave Judy at one point,
• 25:13
Speaker 2: and she was like oh she's pressing charges. Oh okay, okay,
• 25:17
Speaker 2: like kind of a pause, Oh okay, And I don't know,
• 25:20
Speaker 2: something rubbed me the wrong way about it.
• 25:23
Speaker 1: Well, yeah, there's like a passive aggressive diss to it.
• 25:26
Speaker 1: And I do think when you watched it through another time,
• 25:30
Speaker 1: like I said, everything that I actually had to do
• 25:33
Speaker 1: with the stadium and the audition process and the actual
• 25:37
Speaker 1: Cowboy Corporation, very stage, very scripted. We're giving the inn.
• 25:44
Speaker 2: You think the audition process, all that whole process is staged.
• 25:48
Speaker 1: Probably not the audition process, but I believe that we
• 25:51
Speaker 1: probably picked and chose what got because it was way
• 25:57
Speaker 1: shorter than it's ever been. And that's my favorite part
• 25:59
Speaker 1: is the it's the like preformed dance auditions where it's
• 26:04
Speaker 1: like a million people doing group routines or whatever. And
• 26:08
Speaker 1: it was a very short part of the documentary. But
• 26:11
Speaker 1: rewatching it, I missed this the first time. There is
• 26:15
Speaker 1: a guy who I think after Reese's routine, someone does
• 26:18
Speaker 1: like a firecracker job, like she just like hits into
• 26:22
Speaker 1: something and does a little hip hop or whatever, and
• 26:24
Speaker 1: everyone's blown away, and I think it's Reese.
• 26:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's incredible, incredible.
• 26:30
Speaker 1: So Reese walks off of her audition or whatever, trying
• 26:33
Speaker 1: to get water and some guy was like, can I
• 26:36
Speaker 1: have a cigarette? I saw yeah, And at first I
• 26:41
Speaker 1: thought he was saying it to Reese, but I think
• 26:44
Speaker 1: he was like it was a like a vocal overlay
• 26:48
Speaker 1: and no one was actually harrassing rees Oh, but it
• 26:52
Speaker 1: was something that they do that they didn't think was
• 26:56
Speaker 1: bad enough to cut. When he was like, I need
• 26:58
Speaker 1: a cigarette after that, I caught that too.
• 27:04
Speaker 2: That's so funny. I, oh, yeah, we're kind of dropping
• 27:08
Speaker 2: around they there. When I said there were some slip ups,
• 27:14
Speaker 2: like probably had a few slip ups where I was like, hmmm, like, okay,
• 27:17
Speaker 2: she maybe she's evil or something. One slip up was
• 27:21
Speaker 2: during the audition process when she said what is she
• 27:25
Speaker 2: like about Anisha? And then Judy was like, she's Indian.
• 27:30
  Speaker 1: She's like she's beautiful.
• 27:33
Speaker 2: She's beautiful like my spider. Yeah, okay, like and then
• 27:40
Speaker 2: another slip up wasn't from her, but it was to
• 27:43
Speaker 2: her about one of the girls having like a chubby
• 27:48
Speaker 2: face or something about her face being full or something
• 27:51
Speaker 2: like that, and that I.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: Was like, what, well, I do have like a whole
• 27:57
Speaker 1: part of my outline where it's like These are the
• 28:00
Speaker 1: easy indicators of masadany like the ones that I had
• 28:03
Speaker 1: already grieved and moved on from when I sat down
• 28:06
Speaker 1: to watch and we talked about the low pay. These
• 28:09
Speaker 1: women work countless hours, put their body at all sorts
• 28:12
Speaker 1: of risks, and get GEO tags on their car just
• 28:15
Speaker 1: for like thirteen dollars an hour. I will say, it
• 28:19
Speaker 1: would be interesting to get the actual average data of
• 28:24
Speaker 1: if you factor in what the Dallas Cowboys pay them
• 28:28
Speaker 1: plus modeling deals and like ticked, Like Victoria's on TikTok
• 28:32
Speaker 1: all the time with her daily affirmations.
• 28:35
Speaker 2: I don't follow her. I take that. I follow her Instagram,
• 28:38
Speaker 2: but I don't follow her TikTok.
• 28:39
Speaker 1: But you know what I'm saying, Like they're probably getting
• 28:41
Speaker 1: paid from that or whatever, so like how that's evolved,
• 28:44
Speaker 1: and if like it's starting to like close that pay
• 28:49
Speaker 1: gap or if they're at least a little bit taken
• 28:51
Speaker 1: care of, because for me, the low pay is such
• 28:54
Speaker 1: a privilege for some women to be able to take
• 28:59
Speaker 1: because they're very rich dads or husbands are invested in
• 29:03
  Speaker 1: them being cheerleaders.
• 29:06
Speaker 2: But then there was Kelly. I mean, her family wasn't rich,
• 29:11
Speaker 2: her family they like they were really trying to support her,
• 29:15
Speaker 2: and they you know, they put a lot of money
• 29:17
Speaker 2: into her, yeah, to be able to do that. And oh,
• 29:21
Speaker 2: I dang, I had a thought and if Oh, did
• 29:23
Speaker 2: you think the actual like documentary paid them?
• 29:27
Speaker 1: Oh? I think there are certain rules and this could
• 29:31
Speaker 1: just be a true crime rule, but I feel like
• 29:34
Speaker 1: you don't get paid for your documentary time because it
• 29:40
Speaker 1: invalidates the like purity of the documentary, you know what
• 29:45
Speaker 1: I'm saying. Yeah, And I could be wrong, but I
• 29:50
Speaker 1: feel like that's true that you don't get paid for
• 29:52
Speaker 1: like being on a documentary, yeah, or dateline or anything
• 29:58
  Speaker 1: like that.
• 30:00
Speaker 2: Okay, that makes sense then, And like I get that
• 30:03
Speaker 2: they get like some opportunities from being in on well
• 30:07
Speaker 2: plus on the show and being a cheerleader and all
• 30:10
Speaker 2: of that, but those aren't guaranteed opportunities that and they
• 30:13
Speaker 2: still have to hustle. They have to market themselves, like
• 30:17
Speaker 2: Victorious whatever she's doing on TikTok, like they have about Victoria.
• 30:25
Speaker 2: Oh yes, whole conversation. Whole conversation. But I just still
• 30:32
Speaker 2: feel like, let's let's really quick, I just wanna we
• 30:38
Speaker 2: were saying fuck you, just let's say a big fuck
• 30:40
Speaker 2: you to Charlotte Jones, the owner of the tells Coowboys.
• 30:45
Speaker 2: I just thought it was so disgusting. I was disgusted
• 30:50
Speaker 2: at this owner of a.
• 30:53
Speaker 1: Football team, neo baby football owner.
• 30:56
Speaker 2: Baby Yes, at her finest, sitting there and talking about
• 31:03
Speaker 2: the non existent wages of her employees that were are
• 31:08
Speaker 2: that our integral to her to her business, and sitting
• 31:14
Speaker 2: up there and just saying, yes, I want to acknowledge that.
• 31:19
Speaker 2: I want to acknowledge that they're not getting paid and
• 31:22
Speaker 2: uh and and I still don't care.
• 31:24
Speaker 1: Basically and they shouldn't.
• 31:27
Speaker 2: And I just thought that was so gross and everything
• 31:33
Speaker 2: that's wrong with this country. I'm just gonna put it
• 31:35
Speaker 2: out there like that. I just really it really infuriated
• 31:39
Speaker 2: me the most out of anything in this entire documentary.
• 31:45
Speaker 2: I think that is what.
• 31:46
Speaker 1: Sickened me the most, because it's very much like you
• 31:51
Speaker 1: made it to the top and instead of going and
• 31:54
Speaker 1: now we will pay the cheerleaders the reason why people
• 31:57
Speaker 1: come to the games, Yes, you instead with in fact
• 32:02
Speaker 1: no never And I stand by this, thank you Daddy
• 32:06
  Speaker 1: for my paycheck.
• 32:08
Speaker 2: And and you talk about like white feminism, and I mean,
• 32:13
Speaker 2: I think that's the queen of white feminism, right thing.
• 32:16
Speaker 2: I mean closing not only just closing the door on women,
• 32:21
Speaker 2: you know, below them or coming up behind them, but
• 32:24
Speaker 2: you're closing it, you're locking it, you're gluing that bad
• 32:27
Speaker 2: boys shut Like she is really not doing anything to help.
• 32:32
Speaker 2: And I feel like I think people would argue that
• 32:34
Speaker 2: because they were like, no, but she's putting them on.
• 32:36
Speaker 2: She's doing this, She's giving them opportunity. Da da da.
• 32:39
Speaker 2: But really, if the opportunity is not if you have
• 32:43
Speaker 2: the ability to pay people what they're worth and you don't,
• 32:49
Speaker 2: then you're taking away opportunity because I mean, let's just
• 32:52
Speaker 2: face it, you have to be paid to live, to
• 32:56
Speaker 2: pay your rent, to eat, to live in this country
• 32:59
Speaker 2: and in any country. But and I just think that
• 33:05
  Speaker 2: is so.
• 33:06
Speaker 1: Well and we do. Yeah, we have a time honored
• 33:10
Speaker 1: tradition in our country of taking advantage of people in
• 33:15
Speaker 1: the name of opportunity. Like be an unpaid intern being
• 33:19
Speaker 1: in a bedroom in New York and the bedroom's a
• 33:24
Speaker 1: closet but owned vice a nate lady named Nancy, Like uh,
• 33:31
Speaker 1: be an unpaid intern. Teachers and librarians, it's see opportunity
• 33:35
Speaker 1: to grow the youth of America and to make them nice,
• 33:39
Speaker 1: like all of these female labor and the invisible labor
• 33:43
Speaker 1: of women, and all of it go unpaid in the
• 33:47
Speaker 1: name of but it's gonna get better, so you can
• 33:51
Speaker 1: be better. And I can't pay my mortgage with opportunity
• 33:57
Speaker 1: to lie. Yeah, it's a lie. Well, and because the
• 34:02
Speaker 1: American dreams a lie. Never forget it. Never forget it,
• 34:08
Speaker 1: never forget, never forget. Uh yeah, No, the pay thing
• 34:13
Speaker 1: and that lady just being like, of course they're paid
• 34:15
Speaker 1: that much. If they were worth more to the team,
• 34:18
Speaker 1: we'd paid the more. And it's like, oh, okay, okay,
• 34:21
  Speaker 1: how about they.
• 34:21
Speaker 2: All quit, right, but they all quit on day one,
• 34:25
  Speaker 2: first game.
• 34:26
Speaker 1: Well, and that's part of the cult of it all,
• 34:29
Speaker 1: is that you do have a crop of hundreds of
• 34:32
Speaker 1: women who'd be like, thank god, they all quit. Now
• 34:35
Speaker 1: it's my turn, Like that's true, and it's part of
• 34:37
Speaker 1: the Yeah, it's part of the insidious part of misogyny
• 34:42
Speaker 1: is there's always someone who's going to make it a
• 34:46
Speaker 1: little bit easier on themselves by playing into the system.
• 34:51
Speaker 2: Right, And you can't blame them.
• 34:52
Speaker 1: No, we watched the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. We
• 34:55
  Speaker 1: watched it.
• 34:57
Speaker 2: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I haven't finished it though I
• 34:59
  Speaker 2: haven't been well.
• 35:00
Speaker 1: And like Chris DeRosa and I talked about how on
• 35:04
Speaker 1: the on every Real Housewives franchise, what eventually starts to
• 35:08
Speaker 1: happen is the women are using that show and they're
• 35:12
Speaker 1: like paychecks at Bravo to eventually leave the husbands that
• 35:16
Speaker 1: they hate. Right, Yes, that's what's happening. And it's like
• 35:22
Speaker 1: their form of like independence or whatever. But in order
• 35:25
Speaker 1: to do that, they have to play into the stereotypes
• 35:29
Speaker 1: of a housewife and like make their bag and then
• 35:32
Speaker 1: all all of a sudden being like I actually hate
• 35:34
Speaker 1: you and divorce. And my story arc that says it divorce.
• 35:40
Speaker 2: Because financial independence really is the goal, and that's really
• 35:45
  Speaker 2: what you want.
• 35:46
Speaker 1: Mm hmm yeah. And it's at this point a need,
• 35:51
Speaker 1: like an absolute need.
• 35:53
  Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right, it's a need.
• 35:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, another gimme of like well, also their misogynists in
• 36:00
Speaker 1: this way, who would have thought it in cheerleading, there's
• 36:03
  Speaker 1: no body diversity.
• 36:05
Speaker 5: None, net or not even And did you notice too,
• 36:09
Speaker 5: not even with the women that came back no from
• 36:12
Speaker 5: like the seventies and nineties and everything.
• 36:16
Speaker 1: No, that's what I'm saying. Late, I did notice that
• 36:20
Speaker 1: one of the veterans that was walking away crying when
• 36:22
Speaker 1: they didn't even make it to camp or whatever. She
• 36:26
Speaker 1: was the tallest woman I had ever seen, and I
• 36:28
Speaker 1: was like, Oh, they found shorter women, like more petite
• 36:31
Speaker 1: women to be on the team, and that's why you
• 36:33
Speaker 1: got caught. Like also, you have to be if you're
• 36:36
Speaker 1: planning on being a fifth year cheerleader, you have to
• 36:40
Speaker 1: wear the same uniform for five years and it's molded
• 36:45
  Speaker 1: to your body.
• 36:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, that was weird with the uniforms. And they weren't
• 36:49
Speaker 2: allowed to keep them, no, which I would guess is
• 36:54
Speaker 2: because they don't want them wearing them outside of they
• 36:59
Speaker 2: want to try to control the brand, which is what
• 37:02
  Speaker 2: I'm thinking.
• 37:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, and they probably don't want you selling it on
• 37:06
Speaker 1: eBay when you're done, because.
• 37:09
Speaker 2: They don't want you to have any money, right.
• 37:11
Speaker 1: Because they don't want you to have pay so money.
• 37:13
Speaker 2: You can't even have money like after that, you can't
• 37:16
Speaker 2: make any money off of them.
• 37:18
Speaker 1: Well, and could you imagine in twenty twenty four, like
• 37:21
Speaker 1: Susie gets cut from the Dallas Cowboys, takes her uniform
• 37:24
Speaker 1: and starts the Dallas Cowboys. Only fans like, oh my god,
• 37:30
Speaker 1: what was that? Porno called what was it was like
• 37:32
Speaker 1: one of the very first was it like.
• 37:34
Speaker 2: Oh, Debbie does Dallas.
• 37:36
Speaker 1: Debbie does Dallas. Yeah, and you're just doing Debbie cheerleader.
• 37:40
Speaker 1: I think she never never seen it. I think right
• 37:44
Speaker 1: was it? The whole gimmick was she was a cheerleader
• 37:46
Speaker 1: doing all of Dallas. So could you imagine they take
• 37:49
Speaker 1: their uniform home and they're like, fuck you, Kelly, pay
• 37:52
Speaker 1: me thirteen dollars an hour and you started Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
• 37:57
Speaker 2: Only fans fans, Oh my god, would make millions.
• 38:01
Speaker 1: You would make millions. And that's why the Dallas Cowboys
• 38:04
Speaker 1: are like, no, now give me that thing, the integrity
• 38:08
Speaker 1: of God country and football.
• 38:12
Speaker 2: You've got something there, though, I think.
• 38:16
Speaker 1: I mean, there are Halloween costumes, Yes, there are are
• 38:20
Speaker 1: Halloween costumes. Also, the thing the thing that got me
• 38:28
Speaker 1: about the uniforms and like them having to stay the
• 38:31
Speaker 1: exact same size four five years, let alone a whole year.
• 38:35
Speaker 1: I was like, how did these cores not blow? My
• 38:39
Speaker 1: body changes three times a day.
• 38:42
Speaker 2: The size, Yes, my stomach it's huge. When I'm when
• 38:46
Speaker 2: I'm like pmsing, it's like, oh there's no way, no.
• 38:52
Speaker 1: I changed cup sizes.
• 38:54
Speaker 2: Well they said they put on to two pantyhose at
• 38:59
Speaker 2: the same time, which probably maybe constricts it a bit.
• 39:03
Speaker 2: And they're so they were all there were a lot
• 39:05
Speaker 2: of the more so thin. Now, what did you think
• 39:08
Speaker 2: speaking of this, the body types of it all? What
• 39:14
Speaker 2: did you think about stamina?
• 39:17
Speaker 1: Oh, about fueling your body?
• 39:20
Speaker 2: Well, just the word stamina itself. I feel like that
• 39:25
Speaker 2: was code word free eat right.
• 39:27
Speaker 1: Well, so it was fueling your body because someone being sick,
• 39:30
Speaker 1: looking sick, looking sick. So there was a lot of
• 39:33
Speaker 1: coded language around the Now don't go tell on Netflix,
• 39:37
Speaker 1: We've got Anna Rexa problems of running rampant through our
• 39:42
Speaker 1: cheer leaders. And it was especially jarring when Victoria would
• 39:48
Speaker 1: be talking a lot about her binge eating and her
• 39:52
Speaker 1: starvation methods and whatnot and how she struggles with that
• 39:56
Speaker 1: and how it's an indicator of how stressed she is
• 39:59
Speaker 1: when she struggling with that, and then you would cut
• 40:02
Speaker 1: to Kelly looking at a girl who's about to pass out.
• 40:05
Speaker 1: I mean, like, did she have a bar today? Like
• 40:08
Speaker 1: did anyone throw her one of those oat bars? Is
• 40:11
Speaker 1: she fueling herself? And it's like, no, you with that
• 40:14
Speaker 1: oat bar? Yeah, with an oat bar? And I was like,
• 40:17
Speaker 1: the Cowboys have enough money to have I bet you
• 40:19
Speaker 1: they have a team dietitian.
• 40:22
Speaker 2: Yeah, why not have all that stuff? Yeah, they have
• 40:26
Speaker 2: all of it for the guys.
• 40:27
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we all saw that. Yeah, we saw
• 40:30
Speaker 1: ted Lasso. They can hire mental health support and dietitians
• 40:34
Speaker 1: and all of it. So if you're if you're very
• 40:39
Speaker 1: aware that number one, cheerleading does take a lot of
• 40:42
Speaker 1: calories to do. You're kicking a hundred times a game.
• 40:47
Speaker 2: They were out there in a hundred degree weather.
• 40:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, that just and you and you know that, like
• 40:56
Speaker 1: there's a lot of core strength. I mean, think of
• 40:58
Speaker 1: like and that they're athletes, their athletes, gymnasts, ballerinas, all
• 41:03
Speaker 1: of these places where women are felt the need to
• 41:06
Speaker 1: like do binging and starvation methods like Victoria was talking about,
• 41:10
Speaker 1: and you're gonna look me in the eye and be like, honey,
• 41:13
Speaker 1: how's your stamina level today? Are you rueling yourself? Like gross?
• 41:18
Speaker 2: It was gross looking a little it was really gross.
• 41:20
Speaker 2: And I didn't like obviously it was that was horrible,
• 41:24
Speaker 2: but I also just didn't like the way they were
• 41:26
Speaker 2: critiquing them. It just made me feel like when they
• 41:31
Speaker 2: were first critiquing them when they first had the training
• 41:33
Speaker 2: camp and we're doing those cuts, and something felt very
• 41:41
Speaker 2: I'm sure I saw a movie like this or something
• 41:43
Speaker 2: very sick, voyeuristicky. It was a lot of older women
• 41:48
Speaker 2: and men h on the in the stands, and then
• 41:53
Speaker 2: all these young women, young, you know, thin, very thin,
• 42:00
Speaker 2: beautiful women, and the way they were critiquing them. They
• 42:04
Speaker 2: had them on the big screen, blowing up their face
• 42:06
Speaker 2: talking about for instance of Victoria, Oh, she looked better,
• 42:10
Speaker 2: I think she looked bad. She looks better this year
• 42:12
Speaker 2: than last year. No, you do, oh, I think she
• 42:15
Speaker 2: looked better last year. It's like what in the only
• 42:20
Speaker 2: And I hate to say the word like jealousy when
• 42:22
Speaker 2: it comes to women a lot of times, but I
• 42:25
Speaker 2: do feel like it was kind of a jealousy thing
• 42:27
Speaker 2: because what they had over these women they was wealth. Yeah,
• 42:34
Speaker 2: I thought, in power, because they were in a position
• 42:37
Speaker 2: of power that they could cut them. Yeah, and they
• 42:40
Speaker 2: were all obviously had a lot more money than they
• 42:43
Speaker 2: did as well, so well, yeah, I don't know.
• 42:45
Speaker 1: It's just and then you get to be like your
• 42:48
Speaker 1: most awful critiquing self and judgmental self in the name
• 42:53
Speaker 1: of well, we have a standard to uphold.
• 42:56
Speaker 2: Yes, and I felt like that was the greatest excuse
• 43:00
Speaker 2: ever to be cruel. Yeah, honestly, just I mean just
• 43:05
Speaker 2: to be cruel. And I think they they justify.
• 43:08
Speaker 1: It, yeah, because then you're because then the question is, like,
• 43:13
Speaker 1: what they're going to have an overweight Dallas cowboy chair later? Yeah?
• 43:17
  Speaker 2: Why not?
• 43:18
Speaker 1: Why not? If she can listen, she can move. When
• 43:22
Speaker 1: Lizzo was still doing stuff because the Internet was kind
• 43:24
Speaker 1: to her, Lizzo could like run laps around me, and yeah, literally,
• 43:33
Speaker 1: and me and my entire household and maybe everyone except
• 43:37
Speaker 1: for my toddler nephew. My toddler nephew might be able
• 43:40
Speaker 1: to wear out Lizzo.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: Yeah, but like this.
• 43:46
Speaker 1: Idea and I have this argument all the time, like
• 43:49
Speaker 1: this idea that like the size of my body means
• 43:52
Speaker 1: dictates what I can and cannot do, even though we
• 43:58
Speaker 1: know scientifically that like we has very little to do
• 44:01
Speaker 1: with like how strong you are, how healthy, wealthy you are? Yeah,
• 44:05
Speaker 1: this afready. And we were at the musical Young Frankenstein
• 44:12
Speaker 1: on Saturday. Have you seen that movie? Yes? Yeah, yeah,
• 44:16
Speaker 1: I've never seen the movie, but I saw the musical
• 44:18
Speaker 1: and I was like, wow, this was a lot of
• 44:20
Speaker 1: tits and dick jokes just a lot, yeah, just one
• 44:23
Speaker 1: right out for the other lots of dad humor and
• 44:27
Speaker 1: in the like little speech. Like the opera house that's
• 44:31
Speaker 1: in town here, they had done a really big renovation,
• 44:35
Speaker 1: but they said that the next phase of their fundraising
• 44:39
Speaker 1: opportunities and what they wanted to do next was that
• 44:42
Speaker 1: they wanted to make the stage and the and the
• 44:48
Speaker 1: dressing rooms which I guess are in the basement of
• 44:50
Speaker 1: the opera house and all that eighty eight compliant, Like
• 44:54
Speaker 1: they want to have people with all amount of mobility okay, yeah,
• 44:58
Speaker 1: Like they want to make sure that if you have
• 45:00
Speaker 1: mobility aids or a wheelchair or things like that, you
• 45:03
Speaker 1: can get under the stage and backstage into the dressing
• 45:07
Speaker 1: rooms and things like that. And currently, because it's a
• 45:10
Speaker 1: historical building, it's a harder time. And my dad was
• 45:16
Speaker 1: surprised by that. He goes, they want people in wheelchairs
• 45:19
Speaker 1: to be able to get backstage. And I didn't want
• 45:21
Speaker 1: to make like a stink about it. I didn't want
• 45:24
Speaker 1: to be all like, yeah, people in wheelchairs can be
• 45:27
Speaker 1: in movies now, who knew? Right? Yeah, Like we had
• 45:34
Speaker 1: the first actors in a wheelchair win a Tony within
• 45:38
Speaker 1: the past, what it's ten years because I was working
• 45:41
Speaker 1: in theaters, so it's got to be five or seven
• 45:44
Speaker 1: years in Oklahoma and the revival of Oklahoma she won
• 45:47
Speaker 1: the Tony. Yeah. And so to have this like juxtaposition
• 45:53
Speaker 1: of like, oh, it's twenty twenty four and like racism
• 45:57
Speaker 1: has ended, and so as homemokphobia and we're all equal
• 46:01
Speaker 1: and we love women, and to have literally nowherewithal that,
• 46:06
Speaker 1: like maybe you should consider having body diversity, Like Okay,
• 46:12
Speaker 1: that woman who's a rugby player who's doing Dancing with
• 46:15
Speaker 1: the Stars would love to see a woman with her
• 46:18
Speaker 1: body type being a cheerleader.
• 46:21
Speaker 2: Right, And I'm surprised there aren't more women that were
• 46:24
Speaker 2: her body type out there, to be honest, I'd bet it.
• 46:26
Speaker 2: But I think that's why they had the calorie restruct you.
• 46:29
  Speaker 2: I mean, they didn't say.
• 46:31
Speaker 1: They don't say out loud, but they don't say.
• 46:33
Speaker 2: They didn't say any of that. But that's what I'm
• 46:36
Speaker 2: thinking because you see Victoria eating like a bowl full
• 46:39
Speaker 2: of watermelon, like it's like it's ice cream, you know.
• 46:43
Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, I mean, and you would think they
• 46:47
Speaker 2: should have they should be muscular, they should have that
• 46:51
Speaker 2: a little, wouldn't you think, because they of what they're
• 46:53
Speaker 2: doing and what they should probably be eating well.
• 46:56
Speaker 1: And what it means is is that all of your
• 46:58
Speaker 1: routines are floor routines because you're not throwing anyone into
• 47:02
Speaker 1: the air. Like if you're all tiny in compact and
• 47:06
Speaker 1: you have like no muscle base or whatever. That's why
• 47:10
Speaker 1: you have body diversity on a team, so you can
• 47:13
Speaker 1: do a variety. Like there are no male dallists cheer right, I.
• 47:18
Speaker 2: Was thinking that too, because there are male I think
• 47:20
  Speaker 2: there's a male Patriot cheerleader. If I'm not, I'm not,
• 47:25
  Speaker 2: I don't quote.
• 47:25
Speaker 1: Yeah you know, I probably not, But you're saying cheerleaders.
• 47:29
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeh right, right, Okay, it's happening.
• 47:32
  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's happening.
• 47:33
Speaker 2: Thinking that too. Why didn't they have any male cheerleaders?
• 47:36
Speaker 1: Well it really like I get it, like the thunder
• 47:39
Speaker 1: sounds real fun or whatever, but like you think within
• 47:41
Speaker 1: the last thirty to forty years, like we could change
• 47:44
Speaker 1: up what the like routine is you think the.
• 47:48
Speaker 2: Song, Yeah, a lot of it is based in tradition,
• 47:52
Speaker 2: a lot of tradition, and that could be like I
• 47:56
Speaker 2: don't know, yeah, culture of Southern cal the culture of
• 48:01
Speaker 2: that particular cult that I also.
• 48:05
Speaker 1: The way that they would like break up shots and
• 48:07
Speaker 1: never really take a whole, like overpanning view of all
• 48:10
Speaker 1: of the women made it hard for me to see
• 48:14
Speaker 1: racially where we were diversity wise.
• 48:17
Speaker 2: Yes, I did notice obviously that a lot of the
• 48:21
Speaker 2: black and brown women were being cut it seemed like.
• 48:25
Speaker 2: And there was a mention by one of the judges
• 48:28
Speaker 2: in the first kind of round about the uniformity or
• 48:32
Speaker 2: the look of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader and I'm thinking, okay,
• 48:37
Speaker 2: white and mostly blonde, then yeah, and so where do
• 48:40
Speaker 2: these other girls kind of fit in? And although I
• 48:43
Speaker 2: loved all the like, I fell absolutely in love with
• 48:46
Speaker 2: all the girls, Reese and Victoria and Madeline, all them, Charlie,
• 48:50
Speaker 2: oh my god, and Kelly, all of them I fell
• 48:53
Speaker 2: in love with. We never really get to see any
• 48:58
Speaker 2: of the other girls that are on the team, that
• 49:00
Speaker 2: were or that were rookies. We never really get except
• 49:05
Speaker 2: for Anisia. She had a big she had a big part.
• 49:07
Speaker 2: But other than that, we really don't get to get
• 49:10
Speaker 2: to know any of the other girls well.
• 49:12
Speaker 1: And like Anisha Hadna the Browns. Yeah, Anisha had my
• 49:18
Speaker 1: soul from the very first dance move. I was like, oh,
• 49:21
Speaker 1: my entire heart, like you have to keep her. She's beautiful.
• 49:26
Speaker 1: And the fact that she gets eliminated because like her
• 49:29
Speaker 1: toes aren't straight enough during the kick, Like and I
• 49:31
Speaker 1: was like, prove it, Like I need you to prove it.
• 49:35
Speaker 1: I see these I want to see the tapes, Like
• 49:38
Speaker 1: I was like number when she has a cheerleading background,
• 49:41
Speaker 1: I was like, she can't the kicks she.
• 49:44
Speaker 2: Was she was a cheerleader on another team.
• 49:46
Speaker 1: On another team, on a basketball team.
• 49:49
Speaker 2: I also think maybe there's a little bit of agism too,
• 49:52
Speaker 2: because when she found out how old she are she was,
• 49:55
Speaker 2: she was she she gave a little Kelly I'm talking
• 49:58
Speaker 2: about Kelly gave a little when she found out she
• 50:00
Speaker 2: was like thirty two. Yeah, there was a bit of
• 50:03
  Speaker 2: a positive.
• 50:05
Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, it was she wasn't
• 50:07
Speaker 1: flexible enough. Yes, And I believe they used some sort
• 50:12
Speaker 1: of word to describe, like we get we understand that
• 50:15
Speaker 1: your background is in and it was like urban or
• 50:18
Speaker 1: hip hop or some sort of like dance training because
• 50:21
Speaker 1: she was a basketball cheerleader, right, a little bit of
• 50:27
Speaker 1: a mm hmm yeah yeah, yeah, and so and I
• 50:35
Speaker 1: tried to, Like I talked about the privilege of well,
• 50:37
Speaker 1: like there's a lot of privilege that goes on with
• 50:39
Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders because someone has to be supporting
• 50:41
Speaker 1: you because you can't support yourself on the thing.
• 50:46
Speaker 2: Well, that's what I was thinking. Were they paying for
• 50:48
  Speaker 2: the hotel?
• 50:49
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 50:49
Speaker 2: Now, what was happening?
• 50:51
Speaker 1: That's why? Well, and so it's a million things that
• 50:55
Speaker 1: Kelly's keeping in her mind though too, because like, let's
• 50:58
Speaker 1: stop forget they we did have an America's Next Top moment,
• 51:03
Speaker 1: a model moment where they dye of girl's hair just
• 51:05
Speaker 1: to cut her the next day.
• 51:08
Speaker 2: Yes, like, what did you think about what did you
• 51:11
Speaker 2: think about Kelly's hair?
• 51:13
Speaker 1: Because that was kind of a book Kelly's hair has
• 51:16
Speaker 1: Oh are you talking about cheerleader Kelly or boss Lady Kelly?
• 51:20
Speaker 2: Oh? True, I'm sorry cheerleader Kelly. True? What did you
• 51:22
Speaker 2: think with the America's Next Top Model? Like, so, what
• 51:25
Speaker 2: did you think about that whole?
• 51:27
Speaker 1: So I grew up in the toxic America's Next Top
• 51:31
Speaker 1: Model culture, watched every Sindlan would watch Tyra's shave a
• 51:35
  Speaker 1: girl's hair.
• 51:37
Speaker 2: Right, didn't think anything of itn't.
• 51:38
Speaker 1: Think anything of it would literally just like be placing
• 51:41
Speaker 1: bleach on her every night before she went to bed,
• 51:44
Speaker 1: being like, I swear it's going to get the color
• 51:45
Speaker 1: that we need it to be, and like giving women
• 51:47
Speaker 1: chemical burdens or whatever just to be like, you're not
• 51:50
Speaker 1: smising enough in this photo and send them right home
• 51:55
Speaker 1: after crying. Crying, after you've lost all of your eyebrows
• 52:00
Speaker 1: like an eyelashes, and your hair is fourteen different colors.
• 52:07
Speaker 2: Just experimenting on people.
• 52:09
Speaker 1: So to me, it was like, okay, so you didn't
• 52:14
Speaker 1: want them fitted for uniforms. If you were gonna have
• 52:17
Speaker 1: to shell out money for them to be invested in
• 52:20
Speaker 1: this program, then you were okay to cut them. But
• 52:23
Speaker 1: some girl got a baylage like a dye job, and
• 52:27
Speaker 1: then you sent her right home. You were like, honey,
• 52:29
Speaker 1: you looked at her as a brunette and then.
• 52:31
Speaker 2: Bye, good luck with that.
• 52:34
Speaker 1: Good luck with that.
• 52:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, that had to be for the show, right, I mean,
• 52:37
Speaker 2: or do you think they do that off? And because
• 52:39
Speaker 2: they were kind of talking in the beginning about people's
• 52:42
Speaker 2: hair color, Oh is she too blonde? Do you think,
• 52:44
Speaker 2: oh she needs a makeover? Da da da da, stuff
• 52:47
  Speaker 2: like I don't know, and.
• 52:49
Speaker 1: I wonder if it was ever covered in the original show,
• 52:53
Speaker 1: and I just can't remember it, but I do believe
• 52:56
Speaker 1: that at some point there's like a makeover console Haitian.
• 53:02
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know.
• 53:04
Speaker 2: I think they were trying to tweak them the whole time,
• 53:08
Speaker 2: like yeah, maybe it's this, maybe it's that, just to
• 53:10
Speaker 2: be cutting them, just to find something that they could
• 53:15
Speaker 2: pick up that they just didn't like.
• 53:17
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the beauty standards are ridiculous.
• 53:20
Speaker 2: Yeah, but not well. And I don't want to say
• 53:25
Speaker 2: anything about any others.
• 53:27
Speaker 1: And another like privileged thing is I'm sorry, and like, girl,
• 53:32
Speaker 1: I'll be your friend, I promise, because you need one
• 53:35
Speaker 1: good one. Victoria wasn't out dancing anyone, and she kept
• 53:41
Speaker 1: and like the nepotism kept picking in and they were
• 53:44
Speaker 1: just too And I also didn't know if it was
• 53:46
Speaker 1: because that they thought that they were going to get
• 53:49
Speaker 1: a lot of people like me who would remember Victoria
• 53:52
Speaker 1: from the original show and be like calmed to see
• 53:55
Speaker 1: her or invested in her or whatever. I was invested
• 53:59
Speaker 1: in Victoria because I wanted to save her.
• 54:02
Speaker 2: Like, oh my god, you're making me think I never
• 54:08
Speaker 2: realized that. I think you're right. I think they did
• 54:11
Speaker 2: because Victoria. She probably should have been cut from the
• 54:15
  Speaker 2: very beginning.
• 54:16
Speaker 1: Yes, for her to have to go to her cheerleading
• 54:21
Speaker 1: boss because she know it broke my heart every time
• 54:25
Speaker 1: Victoria talks, because she'd like love her. She'd walk into
• 54:29
Speaker 1: a room, she'd be like, Hi, I'm just wondering if
• 54:34
Speaker 1: anyone's ever going to notice me and Kelly, and Kelly
• 54:38
Speaker 1: would be like, what do you mean? What do you
• 54:40
  Speaker 1: mean you know you're a good dancer. I don't understand,
• 54:42
Speaker 1: And she's like, I just thought that maybe I could
• 54:44
Speaker 1: be like team team captain or something. And then Kelly
• 54:48
Speaker 1: would be like, why you don't talk to anybody? Why
• 54:50
Speaker 1: would we make you captain of anything when you're a mute? Like,
• 54:53
  Speaker 1: I don't understand, Victoria, you.
• 54:55
Speaker 2: Have the situation. I'm laughing at your impression of Victory, Kelly,
• 55:01
Speaker 2: because they're so spot on, because that is exactly the
• 55:06
Speaker 2: desperateness of the exchange. Like I think Kelly like not
• 55:10
  Speaker 2: then like, couldn't give a shit, couldn't.
• 55:12
Speaker 1: Give a shit. I think Kelly would be like, I
• 55:14
Speaker 1: love you, Say hi to your mom, say hi to
• 55:16
Speaker 1: your mama before me, and then would just send her
• 55:18
Speaker 1: home like the most toxic ant you could ever think of,
• 55:24
  Speaker 1: and I didn't.
• 55:25
Speaker 2: And I wonder if Victoria really only try it out
• 55:30
Speaker 2: again because of the show then to get back on
• 55:33
Speaker 2: because she really didn't seem like she wanted to be there.
• 55:36
Speaker 2: I mean, she was miserable.
• 55:38
Speaker 1: She was miserable, she didn't have any friends on the team.
• 55:41
Speaker 1: Would we later found out may have been because her
• 55:44
Speaker 1: mom was a snitch? Yes, And I believe that, Oh
• 55:47
  Speaker 1: I believe. I don't. I don't even think I had
• 55:53
Speaker 1: to feel like. I don't think she had to feed
• 55:55
Speaker 1: her information. I believe her mom would go, how is
• 55:58
Speaker 1: your day, and she'd be like, oh, Meghan gave me
• 56:00
Speaker 1: a chocolate chip cookie, and then that mom's just live
• 56:04
Speaker 1: texting the K list. Yeah, just be like Meghan is
• 56:08
Speaker 1: just like eating edibles the entire time and just sing
• 56:12
Speaker 1: it yes, yeah, yeah yeah.
• 56:16
Speaker 2: Or Victoria, what did you think? Do you think the
• 56:21
Speaker 2: room was real? Her bedroom? Do you think that was real?
• 56:24
Speaker 2: Because I cannot believe that here was her real bedroom.
• 56:27
Speaker 1: So here's the thing. I because the Real Housewives franchise
• 56:30
Speaker 1: is starting to break the fourth ball a little bit
• 56:32
Speaker 1: more in these newer seasons. I recently had to come
• 56:37
Speaker 1: to terms with that their confessionals aren't done in their home.
• 56:40
Speaker 1: They're done on like a green screen of a foy.
• 56:44
Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, so she was in a room.
• 56:49
Speaker 1: She was in a room, she was sitting.
• 56:51
Speaker 2: She was sitting on like a bed that was like
• 56:55
Speaker 2: like one of those showroom beds that you'd see in
• 56:57
Speaker 2: sears or something. That's what it looked like to me.
• 57:00
Speaker 1: Well, I bet you everything is perfect in her room. Yes, yeah, And.
• 57:04
Speaker 2: She had this like Ballerina slipper, like a bunch of
• 57:07
Speaker 2: slippers that like formed a heart.
• 57:09
Speaker 1: Yeah it's her, you see my crazy whatever.
• 57:13
Speaker 2: But she had a bally slipper thing. And then like
• 57:16
Speaker 2: everything was Dallas cowles, every single thing. And then she
• 57:20
Speaker 2: had like a pile of books, which made me think, okay,
• 57:22
Speaker 2: good read. You said she can read. She does have
• 57:26
Speaker 2: extra like regular activities that she's into besides Dallas Cowboys.
• 57:30
Speaker 2: But what I was like, what is this bedroom? It's
• 57:34
  Speaker 2: kind of like.
• 57:35
Speaker 1: Sinister So you hyper focused on the bedroom. I was
• 57:38
Speaker 1: still too shell shock from the birthday TikTok, where I
• 57:43
Speaker 1: thought streamers on the door, that was balloons covering every wall,
• 57:50
Speaker 1: streamers covering all the lights, pomp pums, pomp poms, giant
• 57:54
Speaker 1: on fire cake the cake or a and so I thought, oh,
• 57:59
Speaker 1: that's cute. She's making tiktoks before people come over for
• 58:02
Speaker 1: her birthday. No, the birthday party is four times. Yeah,
• 58:06
Speaker 1: it's just for TikTok. The whole thing was just number one.
• 58:11
Speaker 1: I should be making more tiktoks, and like this is
• 58:14
Speaker 1: me every time. I'm just like, hey, everybody was and
• 58:17
Speaker 1: it's like me and my glasses and my hair is
• 58:20
Speaker 1: sometimes brushed, and I'm just like, misogyny is real? Have
• 58:25
Speaker 1: you heard? And Victoria's literally throwing herself a birthday party
• 58:29
Speaker 1: for a ten second TikTok, which I get, get you
• 58:31
Speaker 1: those likes and those shares, baby girl, But I truly
• 58:36
Speaker 1: my brain thought, oh this is nice, Like people are
• 58:38
Speaker 1: coming over for her birthday because why would you decorate that? Yeah,
• 58:44
Speaker 1: yeah that was And then she sat down to eat
• 58:47
Speaker 1: one nibble of cake with her mother and I burst
• 58:49
Speaker 1: into tears. Yeah, I was so upset. I was like,
• 58:53
  Speaker 1: this is dark.
• 58:54
Speaker 2: I was thinking, run get out of that house. It
• 58:57
Speaker 2: was like a mixture of like care with like a
• 59:01
Speaker 2: little bit of like whatever happened to Baby Jane kind
• 59:04
Speaker 2: of vibes going on.
• 59:06
Speaker 1: I was a little mummy theorist, like.
• 59:08
Speaker 2: Dear Sprinkling, she needs to go which she.
• 59:12
Speaker 1: Has, which she has, And I tell you, I'll come
• 59:17
Speaker 1: visit you. I'll come rejeggorate your apartment. I'll come whatever.
• 59:21
  Speaker 1: I'll call the Rockets. I don't know.
• 59:24
Speaker 2: I loved it. Have you seen the rockets? No, incredible.
• 59:29
Speaker 2: They are so incredibly precision precision, like so talented. I
• 59:34
Speaker 2: mean it could be another bad crockets call it like
• 59:38
Speaker 2: worse than like DCC could be. But but yeah, they
• 59:42
Speaker 2: were incredible, So I'll give them that. Hopefully they're getting
• 59:45
  Speaker 2: paid too.
• 59:46
Speaker 1: And I think like that's one of the things too,
• 59:48
Speaker 1: where it's like it kind of like breaks the facade
• 59:52
Speaker 1: of like this is all about sisterhood and girls empowering
• 59:55
Speaker 1: other girls and everyone making each other feel nice because
• 59:58
Speaker 1: no one's spending Victoria's part pay with her, right.
• 1:00:01
Speaker 2: But it seemed like they like like the like the veterans,
• 1:00:04
Speaker 2: like the one veteran I read her name, that Kat
• 1:00:07
Speaker 2: and Caroline. I believe we're both talking about her and
• 1:00:11
Speaker 2: like seem to really like her and love her and
• 1:00:13
Speaker 2: like had protection, protective vibes. It seemed like when they talk.
• 1:00:18
  Speaker 2: So I don't know what the deal was I couldn't.
• 1:00:24
Speaker 2: Maybe Kelsey had like.
• 1:00:26
  Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, but
• 1:00:32
Speaker 1: I know every time like someone would say something about
• 1:00:34
Speaker 1: Victoria and I would just because she just makes me
• 1:00:37
  Speaker 1: deeply sad, like.
• 1:00:38
Speaker 2: We just love her down, though, love her down. I
• 1:00:42
Speaker 2: thought I'm not gonna like her. When I first started
• 1:00:44
Speaker 2: ith I first started the doc, I was like, oh,
• 1:00:47
Speaker 2: this girl, this is the villain. Probably they were setting
• 1:00:50
Speaker 2: her up, but oh my god, just I just wanted
• 1:00:53
  Speaker 2: to hug.
• 1:00:54
Speaker 1: Her because again, it's really hard to like hate someone
• 1:00:56
Speaker 1: when they're down bad, crying at the gym, Like, no,
• 1:00:59
  Speaker 1: I don't, I don't have it in me, like my
• 1:01:03
Speaker 1: sister and I get into not into it. But I
• 1:01:06
Speaker 1: noticed that that's like a difference between me and my sister.
• 1:01:08
Speaker 1: Were like my sister could care less if someone's having
• 1:01:11
Speaker 1: a bad day or whatever. She hates you, she hates you,
• 1:01:14
  Speaker 1: And I'm like, I can't. I can't just watch her
• 1:01:18
Speaker 1: just be like crying into a pillow about her like
• 1:01:23
Speaker 1: fight with her hubby or whatever, and deciding that like
• 1:01:26
Speaker 1: I'm above it to call him a motherfucker, Like no,
• 1:01:29
Speaker 1: I'm always ready to call somebody a motherfucker, like, just
• 1:01:32
Speaker 1: call me up. But yeah, you can't hate Victoria to
• 1:01:35
Speaker 1: kicking a pubby. I know I loved her down because
• 1:01:40
Speaker 1: we all know those women or who have been those
• 1:01:42
Speaker 1: women who would do anything for anyone to say something
• 1:01:45
Speaker 1: nice to you. And all all she wanted was for
• 1:01:50
Speaker 1: Kelly to be like, I'm so glad you're here, and
• 1:01:52
Speaker 1: Kelly be like, what do you want? You can kick?
• 1:01:56
  Speaker 1: That's why you're here?
• 1:01:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, get your stampa.
• 1:02:01
Speaker 1: Are you fueling yourself? Well? I do have to say that, like,
• 1:02:05
Speaker 1: as nice as I am and as supportive as I am,
• 1:02:09
Speaker 1: if you are the friend who needs constant validation, I
• 1:02:12
Speaker 1: eventually become Telly when I'm like, what do you want?
• 1:02:15
  Speaker 1: I don't know, I'm exhausted.
• 1:02:21
Speaker 2: Yeah, I maybe, And maybe Victoria was a bit needy
• 1:02:24
Speaker 2: like with them, you know, but she needed something she needs.
• 1:02:29
Speaker 2: I mean, you do need feedback, I think from any job. Yeah,
• 1:02:32
Speaker 2: am I doing a good job?
• 1:02:34
  Speaker 1: Like?
• 1:02:34
Speaker 2: What am I doing here?
• 1:02:35
  Speaker 1: You know?
• 1:02:36
Speaker 2: And I feel like that was her and she wasn't
• 1:02:38
  Speaker 2: getting well.
• 1:02:39
Speaker 1: Mis did not then, And I do feel like it's
• 1:02:42
Speaker 1: a very late It's a very distinct experience to have
• 1:02:48
Speaker 1: when you know that everyone at work is talking about
• 1:02:51
Speaker 1: how you should be fired and yet no one's firing you.
• 1:02:55
Speaker 1: And I feel like Victoria picked up that. All they
• 1:02:58
Speaker 1: ever did was like her kick, they're sloppier, her thighs
• 1:03:01
Speaker 1: are bigger her, I mean, she looks like she's asleep,
• 1:03:06
Speaker 1: and they were never going Victoria is our girl, our
• 1:03:09
Speaker 1: go to make her a captain. She was like, why
• 1:03:12
Speaker 1: am I here if no one actually thinks I should
• 1:03:15
  Speaker 1: be here? Right?
• 1:03:17
Speaker 2: And they didn't tell her straight up exactly, and they
• 1:03:20
Speaker 2: didn't tell her straight up we want you here for
• 1:03:23
Speaker 2: the show basically because we think you'd be good for
• 1:03:26
  Speaker 2: the show.
• 1:03:27
  Speaker 1: Right right.
• 1:03:28
Speaker 2: You're a plot point because now I think that because
• 1:03:30
Speaker 2: you because I truly do like when you when you
• 1:03:33
Speaker 2: brought that, I was like, oh my god, that's so
• 1:03:35
Speaker 2: why she was there.
• 1:03:37
Speaker 1: Yeah, because you do have to craft plot points in
• 1:03:41
Speaker 1: our reality TV, like there has to be something that
• 1:03:45
Speaker 1: we're filming a schedule around, like but yeah, I mean
• 1:03:48
Speaker 1: like Reese's husband was another plot point.
• 1:03:51
Speaker 2: Would let's get into Reese because.
• 1:03:55
Speaker 1: Our Disney princess, Reese Disney princess.
• 1:03:59
Speaker 2: I also threes for a hot second, a very very
• 1:04:05
Speaker 2: hot pinch of a second. I was like, this is
• 1:04:08
Speaker 2: too much. This is like sickeningly sweet. You know, I
• 1:04:12
Speaker 2: can't this is too much.
• 1:04:13
Speaker 1: Oh she should be a girl, Yes, she totally.
• 1:04:17
Speaker 2: Should be with Jesus and not everything.
• 1:04:20
  Speaker 1: You know.
• 1:04:20
Speaker 2: It was like, all right, give it a rest. But
• 1:04:23
Speaker 2: she won me over.
• 1:04:25
Speaker 1: Listen when she had her bachelor att party and it
• 1:04:29
Speaker 1: was just going around Disney and having Disney princesses signed
• 1:04:34
Speaker 1: her autographed book and telling them that she was getting married,
• 1:04:38
Speaker 1: and people were making fun of it. I'd be like, listen,
• 1:04:42
Speaker 1: I would rather have ran to that caught in a
• 1:04:46
Speaker 1: drunk Jojo Siwa trying to scream the lyrics to Karma
• 1:04:50
Speaker 1: at me, trying to make me convince that I know
• 1:04:53
Speaker 1: the lyrics to her song through osmosis, because that's what
• 1:04:56
Speaker 1: Jojo ci what was doing that day.
• 1:04:59
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, she's just a sweet, sweet girl and just
• 1:05:05
  Speaker 2: I don't know, I feel like there wasn't a bad
• 1:05:07
Speaker 2: bone in her body, and I mean, who knows, who
• 1:05:10
Speaker 2: knows what could come out tomorrow, But.
• 1:05:12
Speaker 1: But not me sticking up for a man. But her
• 1:05:15
Speaker 1: man did uproot his entire job and life and leave
• 1:05:19
Speaker 1: their very small hometown that they went to high school
• 1:05:23
Speaker 1: together and where all of his family and her family
• 1:05:26
Speaker 1: were so she could do this that as.
• 1:05:28
Speaker 2: He should because he was goofy as hell. He was
• 1:05:31
Speaker 2: a goofy as how he matched her goofy because she
• 1:05:34
Speaker 2: was goofy too in a way, but like cute goofy,
• 1:05:36
Speaker 2: cute to goofy, like you were saying Disney Princess, and
• 1:05:39
Speaker 2: he was goofy as hell. Let's just all admit it.
• 1:05:42
Speaker 2: When we first saw him, we were like why. But
• 1:05:46
Speaker 2: I think the more they were together and like had
• 1:05:49
Speaker 2: scenes together and stuff like when she killed the deer
• 1:05:52
Speaker 2: and whatever and they were cooking it up and there,
• 1:05:56
Speaker 2: I was like, what is happening? But it was actually
• 1:05:59
Speaker 2: really they were. I was like, Okay, now I totally
• 1:06:02
Speaker 2: see them. Yeah, I see them. And he was her
• 1:06:05
Speaker 2: he's her first boyfriend, I think, yeah, yeah, which I
• 1:06:10
  Speaker 2: mean relatable. I haven't dated really a whole a ton
• 1:06:13
Speaker 2: of people either, and like I get that. And she
• 1:06:15
Speaker 2: was like I was afraid of guys.
• 1:06:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, like she should exactly have to touch a football
• 1:06:21
Speaker 1: instead of touching you.
• 1:06:22
Speaker 2: Right, And she's super beautiful and how wild was it
• 1:06:27
Speaker 2: when she dances? Oh my god, it's like watching gem right,
• 1:06:32
Speaker 2: It's like huh, synergy and it's like and then it
• 1:06:35
Speaker 2: was like Reese that Yeah, like she was a knockout.
• 1:06:41
Speaker 1: No Disney princess in her like old Jessica.
• 1:06:44
Speaker 2: Right, Yes, it was wild.
• 1:06:48
Speaker 1: And then just like sticks the landing and then giggles
• 1:06:51
Speaker 1: like Cinderella and is over it. Yeah no, I adorable
• 1:06:58
Speaker 1: her husband to do a solid I mean, what else
• 1:07:01
Speaker 1: was he going to do if not follow her or whatever.
• 1:07:04
Speaker 2: Exactly as he should because yeah, he landed. He knew
• 1:07:07
Speaker 2: he landed himself a diamond.
• 1:07:09
Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean because there was another cheerleader who
• 1:07:13
Speaker 1: was not going to do her last year because her
• 1:07:15
Speaker 1: and her husband had decided that like it was time
• 1:07:17
Speaker 1: to focus on whatever he wanted to do and like
• 1:07:20
Speaker 1: having babies or something.
• 1:07:22
Speaker 2: Oh who was that?
• 1:07:23
Speaker 1: It was one of the bets.
• 1:07:25
Speaker 2: Oh was it the one where they went to like
• 1:07:27
Speaker 2: that baby shower or something like that?
• 1:07:28
  Speaker 1: Yeah?
• 1:07:29
Speaker 2: Probably, okay, yeah, and I think they were all like, oh,
• 1:07:33
Speaker 2: after DCC, like then it's like time to get married
• 1:07:38
Speaker 2: and have a baby. It was very like.
• 1:07:41
Speaker 1: I don't know, cotillion yeah, yeah, like just prepping for marriage.
• 1:07:47
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, something that I didn't even put on my
• 1:07:50
Speaker 1: outline because I forgot about it. The sisterhood was such
• 1:07:54
Speaker 1: a big theme of the show. But then also you
• 1:07:59
Speaker 1: had been veteran sister and Rookie's sister sharing a bed
• 1:08:05
Speaker 1: so that Rookie's sister could try out, and veteran sister
• 1:08:08
Speaker 1: has aged out of Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, and everything they
• 1:08:13
Speaker 1: said to one another was just coded resentment back and forth,
• 1:08:16
Speaker 1: and I was like, Oh, this will be cute, Yes,
• 1:08:19
Speaker 1: this should be the next show. It is just like
• 1:08:22
Speaker 1: them trying to pretend that they like one another for cameras.
• 1:08:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, the actual sisters you mean Anna Ke, Anna Kate
• 1:08:30
Speaker 2: and Anna Kate and Caroline. Yeah, Okay, I had to
• 1:08:33
Speaker 2: write these names down because I was like, what, Yeah,
• 1:08:37
Speaker 2: I they introduced Anna Kate Anna Kate kind of late. Yeah,
• 1:08:42
Speaker 2: so I didn't really connect with her as much, or
• 1:08:46
Speaker 2: did they? Did they? I guess she was there.
• 1:08:48
Speaker 1: No so much. Yeah, I could really connect on Like
• 1:08:54
Speaker 1: how through no fault of your own, you're somehow pinned
• 1:08:58
Speaker 1: up against your sister and neither one of you know
• 1:09:02
Speaker 1: what to do with it, So you're just sniping and
• 1:09:06
Speaker 1: it's like one has aged out and now she has
• 1:09:09
Speaker 1: to watch you do all of the fun parties and.
• 1:09:12
Speaker 2: It did you? Yeah? Did you feel that way though?
• 1:09:15
Speaker 2: I felt that way kind of with like Victoria and
• 1:09:17
  Speaker 2: her mom.
• 1:09:18
Speaker 1: Oh yeah right, yeah, well in Victoria's lot of that
• 1:09:22
Speaker 1: going on, Victoria's mom wasn't even like one of the
• 1:09:25
Speaker 1: like super professional cheerleaders. She was still one of the
• 1:09:28
Speaker 1: cheerleaders that just like showed up and did jazz hands
• 1:09:31
Speaker 1: and was like in dada and then left. So I
• 1:09:35
Speaker 1: think a lot of those older women all of a
• 1:09:37
Speaker 1: sudden became very like uniformed and looked all the same
• 1:09:41
Speaker 1: or whatever, mostly because of like Dallas culture, but also
• 1:09:45
Speaker 1: because like then they got to be a part of
• 1:09:49
Speaker 1: the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders that didn't exist when they were cheerleaders,
• 1:09:54
Speaker 1: when it was all just like tailgating and showing up
• 1:09:57
Speaker 1: on a field and buying your own pow palms. No hm,
• 1:10:04
Speaker 1: So I bet you Victoria's mom is just mad that, like, well,
• 1:10:07
Speaker 1: that wasn't what it was like when I was doing it.
• 1:10:09
Speaker 1: When I was doing it, it was a lark.
• 1:10:11
Speaker 2: Yeah, she didn't she didn't understand the culture what was
• 1:10:16
Speaker 2: going on now with like like because she didn't even
• 1:10:18
Speaker 2: understand like the pay no, like the pay conversation. She
• 1:10:23
Speaker 2: was just like well we just like you said, like whatever,
• 1:10:28
Speaker 2: and then and then Kelly was saying about Victoria's mom
• 1:10:30
Speaker 2: also just real quick, she said, Kelly the the other Kelly.
• 1:10:34
Speaker 2: She was saying that when they were roommates that she
• 1:10:39
Speaker 2: just had like so much personality. She just kind of
• 1:10:42
Speaker 2: like went in there and like just gave all her
• 1:10:45
  Speaker 2: personality and.
• 1:10:46
Speaker 1: She was the personality higher, Kelly says at one point.
• 1:10:49
  Speaker 2: Personality higher.
• 1:10:51
Speaker 1: Kelly says, at one point she was like Victoria's mom
• 1:10:53
Speaker 1: could not dance right, that was not her forte or
• 1:10:58
Speaker 1: her straight right. That's how she winked up the camera
• 1:11:02
  Speaker 1: one time.
• 1:11:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, because she was. But she definitely, like you were
• 1:11:08
Speaker 2: saying that sister dynamic and how that was kind of
• 1:11:12
Speaker 2: like contentious I guess, or like subtly contentious. Yes, I
• 1:11:17
Speaker 2: felt like that with Victorian her mom for sure. Yeah.
• 1:11:22
Speaker 1: As you know, I went and saw The Substance last
• 1:11:24
Speaker 1: week and I think, yeah, yeah, I think we're doing
• 1:11:27
Speaker 1: an episode about it. Yeah, I did to see you
• 1:11:29
Speaker 1: and who because I know Julie is not gonna me
• 1:11:33
Speaker 1: and my horror best days Elizabeth and Darcy, who have
• 1:11:36
Speaker 1: been on the podcast before to talk about scary movies.
• 1:11:39
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So I need you to see it because
• 1:11:43
Speaker 1: I need other people to talk to because like it
• 1:11:45
Speaker 1: just truly, but the substance is all about female aging
• 1:11:49
  Speaker 1: and like.
• 1:11:50
Speaker 2: And I'm so into that because like being forty five now, yes,
• 1:11:56
Speaker 2: impairmentopausal and all these things that are happening you know,
• 1:12:02
Speaker 2: mammograms and colonoscopies now and all that. So it's just
• 1:12:08
Speaker 2: like that it does like affect you well.
• 1:12:12
Speaker 1: And I think the thing of it is too, is
• 1:12:14
Speaker 1: like as a society, we haven't we haven't figured out
• 1:12:17
Speaker 1: like the gentle balance of like grieving the fact that
• 1:12:20
Speaker 1: you're aging and then like talking to younger people about
• 1:12:24
Speaker 1: that creed. Like I feel like the contentious part of
• 1:12:29
Speaker 1: like the sisters or the mom in Victoria or whatever
• 1:12:32
Speaker 1: goes away if the older person just looks at the
• 1:12:36
Speaker 1: younger person and goes, you know, I just miss it.
• 1:12:38
Speaker 1: And when I look at you sometimes it reminds me
• 1:12:41
Speaker 1: that I miss it and like having a mature conversation
• 1:12:43
Speaker 1: about it. But we're not like taught to be like
• 1:12:47
Speaker 1: accepting of like youth and age and all of it,
• 1:12:51
Speaker 1: so instead we just get like so passive, aggressive.
• 1:12:54
Speaker 2: Very and like she looks at Victoria probably like like oh,
• 1:12:58
Speaker 2: I want to be you through like how I put
• 1:13:02
Speaker 2: all of my shit onto you and our want to
• 1:13:07
Speaker 2: mold you into the way I was because I was
• 1:13:10
Speaker 2: young and high and had whatever body and this whatever
• 1:13:14
Speaker 2: personality and this and that and you should beat that.
• 1:13:16
Speaker 2: But Victoria is her like in anybody, everybody's your own
• 1:13:21
Speaker 2: person your own personality, your own totally different. I feel
• 1:13:25
Speaker 2: like she can't be that, and like it's got to
• 1:13:28
Speaker 2: drive them both crazy.
• 1:13:29
Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, my mom got wind that we call
• 1:13:31
Speaker 1: her hot mom on this show, and then she got
• 1:13:34
Speaker 1: wind through stitches that I keep saying that all my
• 1:13:38
Speaker 1: mom wanted was for me to be as hot as her,
• 1:13:41
Speaker 1: and like it was never gonna happen. And then my
• 1:13:43
Speaker 1: best friend is always in the comments being like you
• 1:13:45
Speaker 1: were as hot as your mom. You and your mom
• 1:13:47
Speaker 1: are both hop mom, and but my mom has like
• 1:13:50
Speaker 1: been trying to rewrite that story in my head to
• 1:13:52
Speaker 1: be like you're not a loser. You've never been my
• 1:13:55
Speaker 1: loser daughter. And I'm like, oh, thanks mom.
• 1:13:58
Speaker 2: Great, Wait, I didn't say all that.
• 1:14:01
Speaker 1: You've never Well, every once in a while, I'm like
• 1:14:03
  Speaker 1: I think I'm your loser daughter. I'm unmarried, i'm never
• 1:14:07
Speaker 1: game fully employed, Like I just think like I'm the
• 1:14:11
Speaker 1: bad pancake you should have thrown out. And she's like, never,
• 1:14:14
Speaker 1: you're my strong daughter. You're my daughter who's trying her
• 1:14:16
Speaker 1: hardest to live the life she herself once and I'm like, okay, mom, no,
• 1:14:21
Speaker 1: I love that. Yes that's not true. Yeah, well it's
• 1:14:23
Speaker 1: tawn you the truth. Listen, where was that mom when
• 1:14:25
  Speaker 1: I was thirteen? That's all I'm saying.
• 1:14:28
  Speaker 2: That's true.
• 1:14:29
Speaker 1: Where was when I was thirteen? Well?
• 1:14:31
Speaker 2: You know what, but people, and I want to say
• 1:14:33
  Speaker 2: this because I'm a mom and I know I probably
• 1:14:35
Speaker 2: you know, I need help myself. But but like people
• 1:14:39
Speaker 2: do grow like and people do learn, and she probably
• 1:14:43
Speaker 2: does feel that way now and probably back then it
• 1:14:46
  Speaker 2: was just you.
• 1:14:46
Speaker 1: Know, well, yeah, she was drowning in patriarchal shans and
• 1:14:51
Speaker 1: mom's sanders and all of it. So it's easier to
• 1:14:54
Speaker 1: have a little bit of understanding for your loser kid
• 1:14:58
Speaker 1: when you yourself have relieved yourself of some of those pressures. Exactly,
• 1:15:04
Speaker 1: Is there anything else you wanted to bring up before
• 1:15:08
  Speaker 1: I move us.
• 1:15:09
Speaker 2: To Yeah, the one thing, okay, I wrote down a
• 1:15:12
Speaker 2: couple of things. The one thing I noticed I noticed
• 1:15:16
Speaker 2: something new rewatching. All their hair is down? How come
• 1:15:22
Speaker 2: they don't tie their hair back.
• 1:15:25
Speaker 1: You know. And I can only say this from experience,
• 1:15:28
Speaker 1: as my hair is pulled back all the time now
• 1:15:31
Speaker 1: because I haven't cut all of the nasty purple out
• 1:15:34
Speaker 1: of it that's faded. But I remember being young and
• 1:15:41
Speaker 1: thinking that every time I pulled my hair back, it
• 1:15:43
Speaker 1: was like defeminizing myself, like it made me less feminine.
• 1:15:47
Speaker 1: So I think it's still part of the like sex
• 1:15:49
Speaker 1: factory uniform. Yes, but could you imagine doing all those
• 1:15:54
Speaker 1: kicks and flips and all of that in your hair
• 1:15:56
  Speaker 1: with this hair?
• 1:16:00
Speaker 2: It gets in my eyelashes, Like look at this. Yeah,
• 1:16:03
Speaker 2: it's always in my mouth if I have gloss on
• 1:16:06
Speaker 2: or it sticks to it and they're flipping it all around.
• 1:16:10
Speaker 1: And my like. So every time my nephew facetimes with me,
• 1:16:17
Speaker 1: he laughs his ass off because usually I'm like sitting
• 1:16:19
Speaker 1: on the couch, and if I'm sitting on the couch
• 1:16:21
Speaker 1: and I want to rest back, I can't have that
• 1:16:24
Speaker 1: giant ass claw clip on my head just poking me.
• 1:16:28
Speaker 1: So I literally pile all of my hair into a
• 1:16:31
Speaker 1: crazy mass on the top of my head and just
• 1:16:33
Speaker 1: like manically clip it to the top of my head.
• 1:16:36
Speaker 1: And he's like my aunt looks like a crazy person
• 1:16:39
Speaker 1: and he just shrieks with laughter. So I couldn't be
• 1:16:42
Speaker 1: a cheerleader. My hair touched me, you.
• 1:16:46
Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I was thinking that. I was like, oh God,
• 1:16:49
Speaker 2: like I couldn't the wind blowing like just everything like
• 1:16:53
Speaker 2: I anyway, that was just one thing I noticed. But
• 1:16:55
Speaker 2: you are so yeah, you're so smart, oh so smart,
• 1:16:59
Speaker 2: And that is the perfect That is exactly why they
• 1:17:02
Speaker 2: had hair down, because they're supposed to look like these
• 1:17:05
Speaker 2: beautiful sex pots sex bots from Austin powers. Yes, but yeah,
• 1:17:12
Speaker 2: I think that's probably We didn't talk too too much
• 1:17:15
Speaker 2: about Kelly and Judy, but I mean obviously we did,
• 1:17:19
Speaker 2: because we did. Okay, there's always like, here's the thing.
• 1:17:23
Speaker 2: The thing that's the trickiest about the patriarchy is that
• 1:17:26
Speaker 2: it knows how to hire and employ women to make
• 1:17:28
Speaker 2: you believe that patriarchy isn't happening.
• 1:17:31
Speaker 1: So Judy and Kelly are just good enough at being like,
• 1:17:35
Speaker 1: oh honey, we hate to cut you, but we're doing it.
• 1:17:39
Speaker 1: Here's this lady whose entire job is to walk your
• 1:17:42
Speaker 1: sobbing ass out to your car. Sharpie, charpie, sharpie. Wait.
• 1:17:48
Speaker 1: I was like that size they have a whole lady
• 1:17:50
Speaker 1: on staff to just like cuddle those women when they
• 1:17:52
  Speaker 1: need it.
• 1:17:54
Speaker 2: Yeah, he's probably getting paid way more than.
• 1:17:56
Speaker 1: Them, honestly. Uh. And so like it's all that facade
• 1:18:01
Speaker 1: of like everything's okay, everything's okay, don't question it, because
• 1:18:05
Speaker 1: everything's okay, Mama's here. But they're just like the people.
• 1:18:10
Speaker 1: They're also not moving the needle to where it needs
• 1:18:15
  Speaker 1: to be, not.
• 1:18:16
Speaker 2: Even it's going back. The needle is behind me.
• 1:18:19
Speaker 1: Kelly is upholding a standard. She's not pushing boundaries, not
• 1:18:23
Speaker 1: at all. And that's all.
• 1:18:25
Speaker 2: My god, was she like riveting to watch?
• 1:18:28
Speaker 1: Oh my god, I love her?
• 1:18:30
Speaker 2: Yes, and I do too, And I don't like that
• 1:18:33
  Speaker 2: I do, but I do.
• 1:18:35
Speaker 1: Would love to meet her, would love to have one
• 1:18:37
Speaker 1: conversation with her, Yes, would love to know what feminism
• 1:18:41
Speaker 1: means to her and Judy.
• 1:18:43
Speaker 2: Imagine getting a compliment from.
• 1:18:45
Speaker 1: Her, Oh my god, I die. It's the same. It's
• 1:18:49
Speaker 1: the same as a lady who was the cheer coach
• 1:18:51
Speaker 1: on the Netflix show Cheer Monica. Yes us with Monica.
• 1:18:56
Speaker 2: And the same people that did Cheer did this, which
• 1:18:59
  Speaker 2: I loved Cheer.
• 1:19:00
  Speaker 1: I love Cheer, Yes, I well, And it's it's like
• 1:19:06
  Speaker 1: anything it's like, Oh, a grumpy old man who's a
• 1:19:09
Speaker 1: judge on Dancing with the Stars loved my chat chat.
• 1:19:12
Speaker 1: I'm dead. I which my latest hyper focus is how
• 1:19:18
Speaker 1: misagydimistic the uh scoring is on Dancing with the Stars,
• 1:19:23
Speaker 1: because I think Tory Spelling went home too early.
• 1:19:27
Speaker 2: You know what, I have never I have I have
• 1:19:29
Speaker 2: to admit I have never watched Dancing with the Stars,
• 1:19:32
Speaker 2: although I usually am very interested in like who's going
• 1:19:35
Speaker 2: to be on it? Like who's on it? And I
• 1:19:38
Speaker 2: knew Tori was on it, but she got cut.
• 1:19:40
Speaker 1: She already got cut. She was one of the first
• 1:19:42
Speaker 1: two people cut her and Anna criminal lady oh Anna. Yeah,
• 1:19:47
Speaker 1: they got caught on the same night.
• 1:19:49
Speaker 2: And we those ankle bracelets, they can be a little heavy.
• 1:19:53
Speaker 1: So we've got two men, two very old men, who
• 1:19:57
Speaker 1: were the men that were the sac officialmen to make
• 1:20:01
Speaker 1: them go home early. They're barely doing anything. But because
• 1:20:04
Speaker 1: men are barely required to do anything, and those cute
• 1:20:09
Speaker 1: girls just chatcha all around them or whatever, they always
• 1:20:12
Speaker 1: score higher. And I'm horrendously mad. Yeah, I've stopped watching
• 1:20:18
Speaker 1: because I can't handle the judging. So I just watched
• 1:20:20
Speaker 1: the clips on Instagram.
• 1:20:23
Speaker 2: That's annoying. I think, Well, Phaeder's on it, right on it.
• 1:20:28
Speaker 2: She I wonder if she's is she good a dancing?
• 1:20:31
  Speaker 1: Is she?
• 1:20:31
Speaker 2: Have you seen her dance?
• 1:20:33
  Speaker 1: You know?
• 1:20:34
Speaker 2: Oh sorry, I'm just going off on it.
• 1:20:37
  Speaker 1: I can't remember if I watched Phaedra. I love Pedra.
• 1:20:40
Speaker 1: I believe that Paedera should just be able to take
• 1:20:42
Speaker 1: up space wherever Pedra wants to take up space to
• 1:20:45
Speaker 1: my favorite, to my lady.
• 1:20:48
Speaker 2: And well, I love her because of Housewives too, And
• 1:20:51
Speaker 2: I know there was something I didn't watch why she left,
• 1:20:54
Speaker 2: So I'm just I'm just choosing to like, not acknowledge
• 1:20:57
Speaker 2: that really and not know anything about it. But I
• 1:21:00
Speaker 2: loved her obviously on Traders.
• 1:21:02
Speaker 1: Too, so we love all Right, Well, let's move on
• 1:21:07
Speaker 1: to our closing ceremony, where we take a life lesson
• 1:21:11
Speaker 1: from what we've discussed the misogyny within cheerleading, who knew
• 1:21:14
Speaker 1: there was some and who knew who knew? And then
• 1:21:18
Speaker 1: manifest for a better future. What do you think you
• 1:21:21
Speaker 1: learned about yourself, misogyny or America by watching the Dallas
• 1:21:26
Speaker 1: Cowboy Cheerleaders docu series.
• 1:21:28
  Speaker 2: I learned. I think I just learned. I'm more passionate
• 1:21:32
Speaker 2: about an wage equality, yeah, and just giving raises to
• 1:21:42
Speaker 2: those who deserve it and paying people what they are worth.
• 1:21:46
Speaker 2: And I don't know if I realized it as I mean,
• 1:21:49
Speaker 2: I think I've always known I had those beliefs, but
• 1:21:52
Speaker 2: I think especially after watching this and being so disgusted
• 1:21:56
Speaker 2: with the owner who has more to multi multi multi
• 1:22:01
Speaker 2: is a multi multi millionaire, being so disgusted by that
• 1:22:05
Speaker 2: and seeing the obvious disparity and just really no care
• 1:22:10
Speaker 2: in the world about it, it really piss me off.
• 1:22:12
Speaker 1: And so, yeah, I think one of the things that
• 1:22:15
Speaker 1: I learned about myself is that I am still very
• 1:22:18
Speaker 1: quick to give women the benefit of the doubt. So
• 1:22:21
Speaker 1: if I see a gaggle of women, I'm like, this
• 1:22:23
Speaker 1: has to be healthy. But it's like, oh, but then
• 1:22:27
Speaker 1: you have the Then you have to look at the math,
• 1:22:29
Speaker 1: and you have to think about how many white women
• 1:22:31
Speaker 1: voted for Trump, And then you have to think about
• 1:22:34
Speaker 1: like how many women are sitting at the top of
• 1:22:36
Speaker 1: organizations and not getting other women paid? Yes, and who's
• 1:22:41
Speaker 1: calling someone's face too chubby to be in a calendar?
• 1:22:44
  Speaker 6: Like?
• 1:22:45
  Speaker 1: So I still like and I think it's because I'm
• 1:22:48
Speaker 1: so exhaust I'm exhausted, Like it's easy to be exhausted
• 1:22:53
Speaker 1: with men, like it's just easy. But when you look
• 1:22:57
Speaker 1: at a gaggle of women, you want to be like, oh,
• 1:22:59
Speaker 1: I can feel at home here, it's fine, And I
• 1:23:01
Speaker 1: start to like lower my defenses.
• 1:23:05
  Speaker 2: Yes I have You're right, And I think I feel
• 1:23:08
Speaker 2: the same way. Honestly, actually I do because and I
• 1:23:13
Speaker 2: think that's what made me so angry, is that these
• 1:23:15
Speaker 2: women are here at the top and they can do
• 1:23:18
Speaker 2: so much. And maybe it's because she took over the
• 1:23:22
Speaker 2: ownership the CEO. Let's call her out again, Charlotte Jones,
• 1:23:25
Speaker 2: fuck you, And she took over this team from her father,
• 1:23:31
Speaker 2: I believe it was, and she's upholding those same beliefs.
• 1:23:38
Speaker 1: It's like another lesson in itself where it's like, I
• 1:23:42
Speaker 1: think this is what I struggled with in the substance too,
• 1:23:44
Speaker 1: because it's like, how angry am I allowed to be
• 1:23:48
Speaker 1: at women for still being poisoned by misogyny? Like how
• 1:23:52
Speaker 1: angry am I? Like I didn't even have that much
• 1:23:55
Speaker 1: to say about the secret lives of Mormon wives because
• 1:23:59
Speaker 1: I'm like, well, of course this is how they act,
• 1:24:01
Speaker 1: why would they act anyway else?
• 1:24:03
Speaker 2: But still like I think I would want to protect them,
• 1:24:10
Speaker 2: and I would want to protect even Charlotte Jones. I
• 1:24:14
Speaker 2: would want to protect her. I would want to protect
• 1:24:16
Speaker 2: Kelly and June. Okay, I want to protect all the girls.
• 1:24:19
Speaker 1: Like when that it ends with us, drama was all
• 1:24:22
Speaker 1: over my feed. I was like, I know the man
• 1:24:24
Speaker 1: is bad. I know the man who has built his
• 1:24:28
Speaker 1: entire brand on being a non toxic man and getting
• 1:24:33
Speaker 1: over miss Agyne himself. It's suspicious and actually secretly toxic.
• 1:24:39
Speaker 1: And then Annie, who's on the podcast all the time,
• 1:24:41
Speaker 1: I had feeling like they're both. I'll tell her that
• 1:24:46
Speaker 1: she's who I went to see the substance with. Oh nice, yeah, oh,
• 1:24:50
Speaker 1: but I I She had to remind me she's like
• 1:24:56
Speaker 1: Blake Lively is also a bad person who loves plantation.
• 1:25:00
Speaker 1: And I was like, that's right, nuanced me, that's right.
• 1:25:03
Speaker 1: But I wanted to protect Blake because I'm like, she
• 1:25:06
Speaker 1: should have been given Why does he get to tell
• 1:25:09
Speaker 1: the stories of domestic violence and women to begin with?
• 1:25:12
Speaker 1: He has no right? And I get like, very like
• 1:25:14
  Speaker 1: haughty about.
• 1:25:15
Speaker 2: It, because I think you want to protect women. I
• 1:25:21
Speaker 2: want to protect your first instinct, and I think that's
• 1:25:23
Speaker 2: a good instinct to have. I still do, even even
• 1:25:26
Speaker 2: you know, as data as we could get, and there
• 1:25:29
Speaker 2: are obviously we acknowledge bad women in the world and
• 1:25:33
Speaker 2: women that are, like you said, they're the needle. They're
• 1:25:35
Speaker 2: pushing the needle as far back as they can. You still,
• 1:25:40
Speaker 2: you know, you still have the the inkling to protect women.
• 1:25:45
Speaker 1: Did you see Speak No Evil? Did you ever reschedule
• 1:25:48
Speaker 1: that ate for yourself to go see? Oh?
• 1:25:51
Speaker 2: No, but I did. I see the French version. Either
• 1:25:57
Speaker 2: I saw it or like I saw clips of it,
• 1:25:59
Speaker 2: so I actually know what happened. So did you see it?
• 1:26:03
Speaker 1: Yes, I've seen it twice because my sister couldn't go
• 1:26:05
Speaker 1: the first time, and I wanted to watch my sister
• 1:26:08
Speaker 1: watch it, like oh my God, and my ally and
• 1:26:14
Speaker 1: my true newest best friend. James McAvoy has the best
• 1:26:20
Speaker 1: use of a song in music in movie history, and
• 1:26:23
Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with him in this movie. I actually enjoyed
• 1:26:26
Speaker 1: it better than the substance. But I there's a part
• 1:26:30
Speaker 1: in the movie where I literally looked at my sister's
• 1:26:32
Speaker 1: friend and I was like, you can't save them all
• 1:26:35
Speaker 1: because they have to like come to terms with this
• 1:26:37
Speaker 1: woman being too embedded with this evil guy. I was like,
• 1:26:41
Speaker 1: you can't save them all like that. That's what I've
• 1:26:44
Speaker 1: had to like swallow that, like some of them just
• 1:26:48
  Speaker 1: get left behind.
• 1:26:49
  Speaker 2: That's true.
• 1:26:50
  Speaker 1: That's true dark.
• 1:26:51
Speaker 2: So thank you, Jatar true.
• 1:26:54
Speaker 1: Yeah, Ally, James, back boy, what would you like to
• 1:26:57
Speaker 1: manifest now that we've watched the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders docu
• 1:27:01
Speaker 1: series for a Better Future? What's a better future look
• 1:27:05
Speaker 1: like for the Dallas Cowboy cheerleader all of us, just
• 1:27:08
Speaker 1: like the collective energy, but they're there too.
• 1:27:11
Speaker 2: I want to manifest. This is sound, this is so off.
• 1:27:14
Speaker 2: I want to manifest a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader show like actual,
• 1:27:20
Speaker 2: like they're in the stadium, but it's we're watching that
• 1:27:23
Speaker 2: like the almost like the football game is like the
• 1:27:27
Speaker 2: cheerleader halftime and like the actual the whole show is
• 1:27:31
Speaker 2: the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders like they.
• 1:27:33
Speaker 1: Go on tour, like the Dancing with the Horse people. Yeah.
• 1:27:37
Speaker 2: Yes, And I want to see like those light up
• 1:27:39
Speaker 2: uniforms that glowed in the dark and all that, Like
• 1:27:41
Speaker 2: I don't see that. And I want to see all
• 1:27:43
Speaker 2: the routines. I want to see the kicks. I want
• 1:27:46
Speaker 2: to see well, I don't know, I feel bad when
• 1:27:47
Speaker 2: they did that split. When they go down a split,
• 1:27:50
Speaker 2: they call it the hitbuster or something like that. Yeah,
• 1:27:52
Speaker 2: I don't know that they don't want to do all that,
• 1:27:55
Speaker 2: but yeah, I want to see them on the road.
• 1:27:58
Speaker 2: I want to see them getting paid number one.
• 1:28:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a but I want to see you point
• 1:28:02
Speaker 1: for them if they're on tour.
• 1:28:05
Speaker 2: Yes, I want to see them on tour. I want
• 1:28:08
Speaker 2: them to have their own thing, like apart from everything
• 1:28:10
Speaker 2: else where they're getting paid and they're doing their thing,
• 1:28:14
Speaker 2: and I don't know, I want to see these girls thrive.
• 1:28:19
Speaker 2: I want to see everybody thrive. I want to see
• 1:28:20
Speaker 2: Victoria on the rockets or doing whatever the hell she
• 1:28:23
Speaker 2: wants to do, TikTok ceo, whatever she wants to do.
• 1:28:28
Speaker 2: I want to see them Reese, you know, getting married
• 1:28:31
Speaker 2: to Disney. Oh she already got married, right, Yeah, I
• 1:28:34
Speaker 2: want to see all of them. I want to see
• 1:28:36
Speaker 2: them thrive, for sure, but definitely wait, I want I
• 1:28:40
Speaker 2: want the entreladers to be paid just as much.
• 1:28:44
Speaker 1: If not more than the football players. Honestly, what is football? Yeah?
• 1:28:49
  Speaker 2: Who cares?
• 1:28:50
Speaker 1: I think my manifestation is that within the next ten years,
• 1:28:54
Speaker 1: maybe even five, because climate changes a ticket that we
• 1:28:59
Speaker 1: start seeing body and ability diversity on the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. Yes,
• 1:29:07
Speaker 1: I want like openly gay Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, which is
• 1:29:11
Speaker 1: something I always want. Is just like openly gay moments
• 1:29:14
Speaker 1: in time right in front of me for consumption. But
• 1:29:18
Speaker 1: you know, just like people with mobility aids, people I
• 1:29:25
Speaker 1: am always suckered into TikTok of like watching someone with
• 1:29:29
Speaker 1: down syndrome and a dance recitle or something and then
• 1:29:32
Speaker 1: like I cry, But then I want that to be
• 1:29:34
Speaker 1: so normalized that I stop crying because it's not inspirational.
• 1:29:39
Speaker 1: It's just everyday life, just them dancing. Yeah, it's just
• 1:29:42
Speaker 1: them dancing. Like do you see what I'm saying? Like,
• 1:29:44
Speaker 1: I understand why I cry because it is inspirational and
• 1:29:47
Speaker 1: it does mean something that they're doing it. What did
• 1:29:50
Speaker 1: I almost cry about today? It was so stupid.
• 1:29:54
Speaker 2: Well, I cried when I saw Star Wars, when I
• 1:29:56
Speaker 2: brought my kids to Star Wars. When I brought Eli
• 1:29:58
Speaker 2: to Star Wars and we saw like a black man
• 1:30:02
Speaker 2: holding like a lightsaber, I cried. I burst into tears
• 1:30:06
Speaker 2: because it was just like, so I get it.
• 1:30:09
Speaker 1: It was during Young Frankensteid when the monster gets to
• 1:30:14
Speaker 1: do a dance routine and his whole role is to
• 1:30:18
Speaker 1: like tap dance badly and stiffly because he's Frankenstein and
• 1:30:22
Speaker 1: then say, putting another rits, Yes, I literally I'm like,
• 1:30:26
Speaker 1: I'm gonna cry. I'm in the front row. He's gonna
• 1:30:29
Speaker 1: look at me and be like that lady's crying like
• 1:30:32
Speaker 1: but I was like, I was like, why am I
• 1:30:33
Speaker 1: so had every time that like somewhat against all odds
• 1:30:39
Speaker 1: did it? But like that's where I am. I just
• 1:30:41
Speaker 1: burst into tears. I also think I burst into tears
• 1:30:44
Speaker 1: at the diversity in Star Wars when then popped off
• 1:30:48
Speaker 1: his helmet. Listen, the new Captain America movie about to
• 1:30:52
Speaker 1: make all these white men angry.
• 1:30:54
Speaker 2: Oh yes, well wait and all the Disney like The
• 1:30:58
  Speaker 2: Little Mermaid.
• 1:30:59
Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, but everything. Here's the thing, like there's
• 1:31:04
Speaker 1: no one who can get mad like a Marvel man,
• 1:31:07
Speaker 1: all these white men. True, Like I don't even because
• 1:31:10
Speaker 1: here's the thing. Those men just caught on that the
• 1:31:12
Speaker 1: boys was making fun of them, right yeah, So now
• 1:31:17
Speaker 1: they're gonna they're gonna be watching like iron Man black
• 1:31:21
Speaker 1: or not iron Man, but black foutin taking over Captain
• 1:31:25
Speaker 1: America and they're gonna be like, is he saying one
• 1:31:27
Speaker 1: more time that America is bad? What happened to these
• 1:31:29
Speaker 1: movies being fun? And it's like Stanley was always telling
• 1:31:32
Speaker 1: you guys that America was bad. It was it was
• 1:31:36
Speaker 1: his sec It's bad here like it's bad here. Ah
• 1:31:43
Speaker 1: Jana's thank you so much for being my friend and
• 1:31:46
  Speaker 1: for being here.
• 1:31:47
Speaker 2: Thank you for being my friend, and thank you for
• 1:31:49
Speaker 2: having me. I'm so honored.
• 1:31:50
Speaker 1: Do you have anything you want to plug?
• 1:31:54
Speaker 2: You're not at all. I have nothing to plug.
• 1:31:56
Speaker 1: I have nothing to plug.
• 1:31:58
Speaker 2: I have absolutely nothing to plug. Please do not find
• 1:32:00
Speaker 2: me on any social media.
• 1:32:02
  Speaker 1: That's why I didn't use her last name. Don't look
• 1:32:06
  Speaker 1: at her.
• 1:32:07
Speaker 2: I want to plug.
• 1:32:08
Speaker 1: I want to plug you.
• 1:32:10
Speaker 2: Oh wait, that's under weight. Oh that's another show. No, no,
• 1:32:16
Speaker 2: nothing to plug. I'm just so happy to be here.
• 1:32:18

• 1:32:31
  Speaker 1: I don't even know if I've told you this. I
• 1:32:33
Speaker 1: have dreams all the time where Shanaz and I are
• 1:32:35
Speaker 1: on the Like I drive up to a cabin and
• 1:32:38
Speaker 1: it's because Shanas and I are on vacation together.
• 1:32:41
Speaker 2: Oh my god, I wo love that.
• 1:32:43
Speaker 1: Like it's you, it's Alrinthia. It's like all of like
• 1:32:46
Speaker 1: our girl power girls. And I'm just like hugging people,
• 1:32:48
Speaker 1: but you're always the first person I hug. And I
• 1:32:50
Speaker 1: think it's because we haven't gotten to hang out in
• 1:32:52
  Speaker 1: person yet.
• 1:32:53
Speaker 2: I know I can't wait until we all get to
• 1:32:55
Speaker 2: like finally have our like big vacation. I can't wait.

Speaker 1: in the stand, being like her thighs were smaller last year.
• 1:33:44
Speaker 1: Smiles are for joy rolled the name of
