- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome to our podcast unloaded.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: This is Michael Seahorn.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Shannon Moreau.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Glad to be here today with our listening audience.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Shannon, how about you today, man?
- 0:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, glad to be here.
- 0:13SPEAKER_01: This is pretty fun.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's it it's been fun to kind of see how this podcast has developed.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: You know, it's kind of looking back at those first episodes, that first we had those first dozen or so.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: And I mean, like you said, we're I think in our well into our twenties now, and it just oh, nice.
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Uh sneak that in there.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so feels like we're starting to hit stride a little bit more.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: You know, it's not as new.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Uh it seems like we're getting more comfortable.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I I would agree, man.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's been a it's been a good ride and been a good journey, um, for sure.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Um if I'm being honest today, which I generally am, yeah.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Uh today might be the first time I wasn't 100% sure if I was gonna do the recording today, man.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Ooh, you were on the cuss.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: It's been a uh very, very uh difficult last week.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Shan, I haven't even had a chance to even talk about it.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So unfortunately, I can't talk about it on the podcast.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Man, come on, let's just do a counseling session right now.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, we can talk around it, but we can't talk on it.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: But that would be hard for the listeners and it would be just too abstract.
- 1:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so we'll we'll save that for therapy sessions.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, we will.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: And I I think there's some definitely some things we can talk about that you know, internally as a human being that has been a a struggle.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: You know, I think you and I had session Friday, and you know, you're aware there were some things going on, I know that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Um, and then obviously this week has has transpired.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: So you know, as much as we talk about um how to deal with weight here on our uh podcast unloaded, you know, e even for us, because like I always say, we're still human too, you know, it still comes there are certain times that it's it's just difficult.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And uh this weekend, man, I'm I'm not gonna lie to you, this weekend was difficult, man, because I I felt like I I was just being overwhelmed by thoughts, which is which is not my repertoire.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: No, it's not.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And the funny thing is, is you know, when you're dealing with a difficult thing that we we've talked about hundreds of times over the last 30 episodes for sure, the root cause sometimes is buried below the emotions that we're feeling on top of that, right?
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: So so a lot of times for me, it's you know, we've talked about in the past, it's like, okay, well, I yeah, I'm feeling X, whatever X might be.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: But you can't really see the root too much because of all the emotions that are sitting on top of that, right?
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: They they're coming in those waves.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: That's the nature of emotion.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm feeling very angry right now, and of course, we are just experiencing that anger and whatever is before us in the moment that we attribute that anger to, but actually it's um usually much more something deeper down within us that is creating that anger, which is exactly what you're talking about.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you know, the f the odd thing is is I f I felt the continued thoughts that kept trying to override my brain.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And the weird thing is like being able to recognize internally that hey something just occurred, it's overwhelming my thoughts, you know.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: My my old self was I I I wasn't practiced enough to notice that because it my norm was just going through it, yeah, right.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: That's normal, right?
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Just doing whatever it was at the time with the process.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: Well, now it's it's unusual because I I can recognize that those thoughts keep they're coming, right?
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: And early on on Friday, um well later on in the day on Friday, definitely into Saturday morning, you know, I kept recognizing those thoughts.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: And you know, and then I would turn inward and I would tell myself, like, don't make this worse than it is.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Take it for what it is, take it for what it's at currently.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Uh it was just a very interesting process that you know throughout the day, then it was coming back.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Then I sit with it again and I tell myself the same thing.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Just don't make it worse than it is.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Let's just just keep it for what you know is real, right?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Which is tough.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: It's tough to do because internally your your thoughts, you know, whether it's your ego or whatever the things are that are going on in your brain, man, like you know, they can run away quick.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: And I kept finding myself pulling it back.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Trying to make sure that I didn't just you know feed that yeah, feed it and sprint, you know, full speed 100 yards in the opposite direction, right?
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: So struggled with it on Saturday, and then I struggled with it on Sunday.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Monday came around, had to deal with it head on.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Then Monday became you know just a more difficult day, and then that bled into Tuesday, got some relief on Wednesday, got some relief yesterday on Thursday, and you know, here we are on Friday.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: And I struggled this morning, man, because I was sitting at my my my office at the house, and I was thinking to myself, man, I don't know if I have it in me to to do the podcast today, man.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: You were that worn out, yeah.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then I was like, no, I can't, man.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I gotta I gotta I just I gotta go do it.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: And I have I had no idea even coming into the uh parking lot today.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I you know, I was still very empty in the head, just trying to be present, trying to remain present, right?
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: And it was crazy because I was like, for the first time walking into our recording session, I had zero idea on what to talk about.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: You know, uh Shann and I had zero time today because I got here a little early, got everything set up, and you know, he sat down to seat and you know, here we were recording.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: So it's it's been it's been a son of a bitch, man.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: And you still showed up even though you were almost ready to call it like nope, uh after the week I've had, I I I don't got it in me to do another recording today.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: And yet you dug deep.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: Here you are now, and yeah, thank you.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: You there was zero, like, okay, where are we going?
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: And then suddenly here we are.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: This is where we're going.
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: And I appreciate your description of kind of how the weekend went, and into the start of the week, you know, this thing that continued to come up for you, and you you cope with it.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Um, like, nope, nope, what what's real?
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: How do I just stay present?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: You know, let's not add fuel to the fire, feed that wolf or anything.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Let's just, okay, you know, keep returning to like, but you the big statement you said was like, don't, don't keep thinking about the and even that, any any kind of like um negative, like like stop, don't, you know, like is a form of resistance.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: And um resistance um to that that thought pattern or whatever it is that kept trying to get your attention.
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, what is this thing here that why does this keep coming back?
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: Why I I keep trying to stop it, I keep trying to tell it don't.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: I keep, hey, stay over there, don't, you know, and you know, and it just keeps showing back up, demanding your attention.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: So it's there for a reason, you know?
- 8:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and um it yeah, we want to push things away, and sometimes that can perpetuate the very thing because it it's there for a reason.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: It's trying to get our attention, and so it's very counterintuitive.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: But to like, huh, okay, here it is, and to actually honor it, to give it a little of our attention, say, huh, okay, let's just allow for this for a moment.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Like, okay, hello, here you are.
- 9:06SPEAKER_01: Okay, what is this?
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: How you know, in a way, uh, how may I help?
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's point well taken, Shannon.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: So let me let's let's give a little more context because I think it'll help Shannon understand kind of what I'm saying, and probably help the listeners as well.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Is so when I say that things come back for me, and I have to stop allowing the the mind or the ego to override the common sense portion of what's happening.
- 9:38SPEAKER_00: So, what I mean by that is if I'm dealing with a difficult situation like I was since Friday afternoon, my personal ego of past wants to be fed, and we've talked about that.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: It's it's neither positive nor negative, it just loves being fed.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And we've talked about when we go inside our own head and we make things bigger than they are, and then you start feeding into that, and the next thing you know, you're doing rash things or or saying stupid shit that you probably shouldn't say.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: So by by me saying that I I I had to push that away, I was referring to I have to stop that ego and push that portion away because I don't want it to be able to cloud my ability to look at the situation objectively.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Does that make sense?
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: So because I I was such because there was an emotional attachment to the thing that I was dealing with, we know intuitively that it heightens that.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Oh yes, right?
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: I'm not dealing with a stranger, I'm not dealing with something that I don't know.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: This is intimate, it's personal, so then our feelings really start getting ramped up.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: So I was I was just trying very, very diligently to keep the ego in check, keep the thoughts grounded in reality.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Good work, the actual reality, um, and just keep centered, which is you know, it's very difficult.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Very difficult, man.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: And so I had to find things this weekend to help occupy that subconscious, right?
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: Because if you're not if you're not really mentally engaged in some things, then that subconscious is easy to run, it's easy to keep coming back and you know, feeding, feeding into your to your to your mind.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: So it was a it was a rough weekend, I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: Um but we got through it.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: And like I said, you know, um I had to make some hard decisions internally about some of the things that I'm looking at in my life, in my journey, right?
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: So excuse me.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: You know, thank goodness for your your inner circle, you know, the people close to you.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, it's just good to know, man.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Like we talk about you have someone to call, you can call somebody, or you can reach out and you know, be hey man, like I'm going through some shit right now, bro.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: I need your help.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And uh so that was that was good, uh, because we talk a lot about that here on our show.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: But even as difficult as it has it has been today, what time is it?
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: Uh one o'clock.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: So two hours ago, three hours ago, I got I got a little text message.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and um a little little light of good news, man.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: And it's amazing in these like dark times, right?
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: We talked about the storm, we talked about that shit.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: I think the last episode we talked about being in the storm, the light's still there, even though you can't see it, the sun's still shining, right?
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: So we just got a little glimpse today, man, of some just refreshing light, man.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: You know, and it's it's amazing how quick it can refuel you in a I mean in a nanosecond, you know, where you just feel like, hey, you know what?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: I I see an option.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's an option for me, right?
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: Oh, thank goodness.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, just the timing of that, like, ah, it can make such a difference.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: It's to me, it's divine intervention at some level, man, because you know, even today, I told you, I I was struggling coming to the show today, man.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: I was like, why do I man, why do I feel like I can't even do the thing that I love, right?
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: So it was just divine intervention, man.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: You know, at 10 30 this morning, getting a little text message, and uh it just you know helped so much, dude.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: So much.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Great.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Plus our weather today.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: So here tonight it is cloudy and rainy, and just I love that.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: Uh it's just something I enjoy.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: So yeah, first rain we've had for a while.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, temps came down, so you know, that's always pleasant as well.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: But yeah, so that's that's where I'm at today.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: And thanks for sharing that.
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, again, it's re-emphasizing just being able to return to reality and staying centered and okay, what what's actually real?
- 14:17SPEAKER_01: You know, not within my thoughts or even these really powerful emotions, but just even sensory input.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: Okay, what am I seeing in front of me right now?
- 14:28SPEAKER_01: What am I hearing?
- 14:29SPEAKER_01: What what even can I touch, can I feel, you know, and just okay, this is what's real right now, and it helps, you know, when we're turning our attention toward out here, then we're not fueling what's going on in there.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was um you know we will I have a feeling um down the road here we'll we'll be able to revisit this time and get some get some more clarity to our listening audience and to Shannon too.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: So um But I guess that's a good segue into maybe today's episode, man, is that you know um it just you have to keep practicing the things that help you as a human being, man.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: Because like I've always said, like training, training is what training is for, right?
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Go to the gym, you train your muscles.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: Well, because when you need them, you're there, you're ready to go.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And I think a lot of that has a lot to do with what we've been talking about for you know the last 30-some episodes is man putting some things into practice to help you fall back on some type of training, some type of discipline when these uh dark, difficult times come at you.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: You know, and you've talked about it a lot.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, sometimes you just need someone to talk to, you know, and um it's just life's gonna keep throwing stuff at us, man.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: It's inevitable, yeah, for sure.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, it's just a really good reminder that you know, just try and stay present.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Like that's all I've been focusing on, man, every day this week since Monday is just try and be present right now, man.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Because if I can do that, I that's easy.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: I I can do that, right?
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: I can I can be present in this moment of time.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: And you get a little bit of an a you know, you you kind of get an apprieve a little bit in there, right?
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Because you're just like when you focus on right now, for a moment you're not thinking about it anymore.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Then you get on to other tasks and other things that you could do during the day, and then all of a sudden what happens starts to come back.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: Refocus on now.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: What am I doing right now?
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: What am I trying to accomplish right now?
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: So it's worn me out, man.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: You've had a big workout this week.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're really uh developing those muscles.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: The good training, man.
- 17:08SPEAKER_01: You're yeah, you're gonna be nice and strong after a week like this.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Man, I'm sorry.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: You catch, of course, the the both sides.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: Hard week, man.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: You've been going through it, you know, and thanks for your awareness and just coping with it as you have, and being able to even express it here and now.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: That's that that all helps.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: No, it's it's been good.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, even in our darkest times, even you know, it doesn't have to be dark, it could just be difficult, right?
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: I don't want to use the word dark all the time, but even in the most difficult times, there are always good things that are around us.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: There are all there are always good things you know in our life.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: You just you just really gotta you know focus on that, right?
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: And I don't think I've done this ever in the 30-some episodes of Unloaded, but um, you know, there are two quick stories.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: I think I've shared one with Shannon.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Um I listened to another podcast, uh, it's a sports podcast, and I'm not going to get into the name of it right now, but something I listened to in my spare time and even in the office or driving, just a good sports podcast.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: I I enjoy the two hosts there.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: And um, one of their uh actual listeners and one of their supporters was having a very difficult time.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: And um I saw that he was openly on their uh podcast, was you know, saying he was going through some difficult things and uh, you know, he was going to be absent for a little while until some of things settled down, and he happened to be an another veteran, U.S.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Army veteran, and um I don't know, it was maybe like a month ago.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just it was just on my heart and mind, dude.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Like, I want to reach out, see if I can reach out to this guy.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: This is what I created this for.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: Exactly what I created Unloaded for was for when people feel that they are at their darkest moments and they're they feel absolutely and utterly alone and you know, put out on their own little island, right?
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: So I reached out to the co-host of the show.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: I sent a simple email that hey, this is who I am.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Uh my partner Shannon and I, we co-host this Unloaded podcast.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: I'm a veteran.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: I notice one of your uh listeners is having some difficult time.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: And if you if you know how to get a hold of him, or I would be just elated if you could just send him my information.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: With no hopes, obviously, of of uh an outcome.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Just a just an olive branch, if you will, right?
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: A few weeks later, uh I get a response from the the co-host, and um they asked me if it would be okay if they included all my personal information that I gave them.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: I said, uh, for sure.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: He said, Okay, I'll I'll send it off.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: We appreciate that, man.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: So I thought, uh uh, okay, good, you know.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: A couple more weeks went by and uh I got an email from this person.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: No way.
- 20:06SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: And um he just he thanked us um up and down and said he was gonna try to uh listen to some of our podcast, and he was just going through a very difficult time and now he's homeless.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Oh and he's got some court things going on, and just just kind of a laundry list, man.
- 20:24unknown: Damn.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: But he said, It's amazing that you reached out when you did, man, right?
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: And I was like, wow, man, like that's that's the real that's this is the real deal.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right?
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: This is why you're doing this.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and um because we are two veterans, um, that was an easy and a very seamless uh connection, if you will, but um I sent them my actual personal cell phone number and just said, hey man, any time, any hour, you text or call me, man.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: Here's our information.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: So I wanted to share that with everybody.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: Thanks for sharing that, Michael.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: To you reached out to a stranger who you've never met, and you just heard you heard it in his voice, you heard his story a little bit, and um you you care that much.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: It it like you said, it kind of landed on your heart, or however you put that, you know, to reach out, and sure enough, he got your information, he followed up with you, and you were like, hey, anytime, day or night, here's my personal cell, call me, I'm I'm here.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: And uh that just speaks to how much you care.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: It was it was humbling, it's humbling, you know, because you only see and hear what we see, right?
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: And I always saw and heard what I saw on the podcast.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you know, to get to get the message that you know, not only is he struggling, but it's got worse.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Oh man, I just you know, it hit hard.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: But you know, he did say in his uh message to me that, you know, he was still good and you know he will still fight the fight.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: So I mean gotta honor that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Great, great.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: So that's that's what you want.
- 22:15SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: So that was the that was the first um story, if you will, that um kind of relates directly to what we're doing here on the on the podcast.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Second story I I'd want to share, uh, because I think it's another amazing story, is um I was uh so I'm on LinkedIn, and that's not a you know shocker or surprise, but I'm I'm on LinkedIn, obviously as a professional, I'm on LinkedIn.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: And I was looking at some of these other companies out there that are doing some uh technology stuff in the in this in the space that I'm in.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: And I happened to come across this company that's doing some amazing stuff out in the uh construction world.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And I was watching the video and during the video I see the gentleman that was talking, he he kind of reached his arm out as if he was pointing to something, and on his forearm I see the letters I G Y six.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Now, for those of you who don't know what that is, it's I've got your six.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Just like your tattoo.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Just like my tattoo, that's correct.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: It's in a different form.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: I literally stopped the video, rewound the video, watched it again, saw his name tag on his helmet, on his construction hard, had his name there.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I searched his name from the company that I was watching the video on.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: I found him on LinkedIn, and I sent him a very personal message in reference to hey, I saw your IGY six tattoo.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: It is a very uncommon tattoo, but I understand wholeheartedly the meaning behind it.
- 23:54SPEAKER_00: I just wanted to reach out to you and to say that I noticed.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: That was it.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: And then I also had my own I've got your six tattoo.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: About three days later, I I get a message back from this uh uh gentleman and he said he appreciated me reaching out.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: He said it's nice to know that somebody out there knows what this tattoo means.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: He goes, Because in today's new world nobody knows what it means, nobody even asks anymore.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: He said that he had a his best friend uh committed suicide over in Afghanistan in one of his last deployments.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: He also thanked me for just sending a message.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Uh and it meant the world to him.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: I guess he was going through some things as well.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Well, man, good on you.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: Thanks, man.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: Those things bring me lots of light, man.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: Ha.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: This is yes, yeah, they do.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: This is who you are, this is what you do, this is why you're here.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: Is man the difference you're making in these quote-unquote strangers' lives, you know, just reaching out, providing that contact, that communication, that care, you know, it's huge.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: It is, and you know, each one of those stories is just it's unique.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Uh and you know, like I've always said, I I don't believe that everything is random.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: That's just my personal opinion and in this life that we're living.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: But you know, to see a guy's tattoo on a video and then reach out to him on LinkedIn, that's crazy.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: You know, zero expectation.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Again, it's it's not a plug, it's not a ploy, it's just it means a lot to me.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: You know, so when I saw that on that video, man, I'm like, I I need to know who this person is.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you know, turn into one of those weird social media stalkers.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: No, I'm just could be, could be.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: If it I mean, if it wasn't a you know a highly produced video that the company put out, right?
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: This is LinkedIn, this is professional, and this this was actually yeah, very meaningful.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I think he he messaged me back again and just you know thanked me profusely for uh you know just kind of reaching out to him and acknowledging his uh his tattoo and um said he would hopefully be able to uh hop on and listen to some of our podcasts here on loaded and he wanted to keep in touch.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: So cool.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you you got a new friend.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you know, it's just those things help tremendously, man, when you're yeah, just getting freaking drug out.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: Like the little text you got this morning at 1030 when you were pretty drug out, and just that little glimmer of light, like thank goodness that that'll get you through the day.
- 26:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's um it's pretty profound how this crazy universe works, man.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is, and it's it's not just one thing, there's a lot of things that you know have transpired over the last you know months as we've talked about some of those here on the air, but things like this just keep keep coming around, man, and they just reaffirm like it's worth it.
- 27:06SPEAKER_01: That's what you need, and that affirmation, like okay, I'm I'm doing this for a reason.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: Anything exciting in Shannon's world, man, right now?
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, put me on the spot.
- 27:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, I'm trying to.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: My house needs a new roof.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Oh shit.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's it happens.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: We all need new roofs sooner or later.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: You know, it's my turn.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: Go metal.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I wish that's twice as expensive.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: I was blessed we have metal roof, but neither here nor go ahead.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: That's unfortunate.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: So Shannon needs a new roof.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: I would love.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: I just had this conversation with my wife.
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: Uh we'd love to go to met metal if we could afford it.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_01: But um, yeah, but in order to get a new roof on my house, first I had to reinforce my entire garage because um the it was not structurally sound.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: It was kind of, yeah, the couple old beams.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: It's an older house, a couple of the old beams, um, these old two by sixes, man.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: One was twisting really bad and had some big cracks going down.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: The other one was sagging.
- 28:15SPEAKER_01: In fact, the roofer, when he was giving me the estimate, he came in and looked at looked at, came into the garage, looked up at all these, you know, the beams, and he's like, Oh, there's no way we can redo your roof until you have this taken care of.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: You gotta you gotta fix this.
- 28:30SPEAKER_01: We we'll we'll have our crew up there, right?
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: Putting safety putting material up there.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Like, no, this is not safe.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: And uh few other people who looked at, like, dude, you you got lucky, man.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: It was one good snow load on this and this thing, it was gonna sketch the whole garage.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Um, so oh, not only do I need a roof, now I need my whole garage reinforced.
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and and also before getting the new roof, I need all to all the fascia to get painted all the way around because it's all peeling and stuff, and so that's a big job.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: Scraping all that, repainting all that primer, just because we want to put the flashing on that little metal drip edge, so it won't be as bad in the future.
- 29:13SPEAKER_01: So, anyways, yeah, lots of fun.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: Just homeownership, you know.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: We all homeowners deal with this kind of stuff, but uh just trying to figure out, you know, oh, it's never as easy as like, oh, let's replace the roof.
- 29:25SPEAKER_01: No, because in order to replace roof, you gotta fix your garage.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Well, in order to fix the garage, you gotta empty your garage.
- 29:30SPEAKER_01: Well, in order to empty your garage, like, oh my goodness, it just I've been busting my ass here these last few weeks.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: I'm long answer to your short question, how you doing?
- 29:40SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm a little worn out because I was up till 10 o'clock last night and it's like consecutive nights like this, just choring, trying to get everything back in my garage before this rainstorm we mentioned earlier.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, so yeah, it's it's it's just fun.
- 29:59SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, it keeps keeps me active.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a good way to put it.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Keeps me physically active.
- 30:07SPEAKER_00: So there's there's your silver lining right there, buddy.
- 30:10SPEAKER_01: There's a bunch of silver linings.
- 30:11SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, getting to sort through some stuff, get rid of some stuff, get a little more organized, you know, it'll all be worth it.
- 30:17SPEAKER_01: It's it'll be nice to have a new roof and the garage much more structurally sound and and everything looking better around the house, you know, the outside.
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: And so um yeah, just but winter's coming.
- 30:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's coming, it's coming quick for sure.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: We're already uh getting ready to turn into September here.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: So we're almost to September.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: And uh everyone's talking, you know, record level temperatures in the ocean and El Nino, Super El Nina, look out, atmospheric rivers.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: You talk atmospheric rivers, you're like, oh shit, my roof is not gonna be able to be the survivor river.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's yeah, that's crazy.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Well, I'm glad you're getting that that fixed up.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, we're not there yet.
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, to yeah, to be yeah, more to come.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, to be continued, TBC, man.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: Well, um uh we've come to their end of the show today, and um, I just like to thank everybody out there that's listening to us and um definitely our regular listeners.
- 31:20SPEAKER_00: I I see the numbers, so I appreciate it.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Like always, um, if you are out there and you need some help, man, 988's out there, just call or text.

- 31:42SPEAKER_00: But uh as for me, Mike Seahorn.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: I'm Shannon Morrow.
