- 0:52Disclaimer. results can cause unnecessary overthinking checking their location
- 0:56and sending a completely unnecessary lol no worries text.
- 1:00Hey everyone, you can dislike me or disagree about what happened without being racist.
- 1:05The amount of racist comments DMs I've received in the last few hours is insane.
- 1:09Lastly, I'm not a cheater or a thief. Coco golf on getting a lot of racist comments
- 1:13after winning at the China Open.
- 1:16Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and
- 1:19me be a laugh. I'm Lindsay Vernick and today is October 6, 2026.
- 1:24In real news, an Irvine real state agent was arrested at LAX yesterday after
- 1:30a federal prosecutor said that she was spying for China.
- 1:33So according to the FBI, this 35-year-old Weining Heather Zhang went to Seattle
- 1:39to watch the son of Taiwan's president. Like, how exciting, right?
- 1:43She and a friend, okay, her co-worker, I call all my co-workers friends,
- 1:47rented a black Nissan Rogue and then waited near this kid's house.
- 1:52They took photos and videos and then sent everything back to the people in China.
- 1:57But she wasn't the world's most mysterious spy.
- 2:01Apparently, she texted one of her friends back in China, again,
- 2:04her co-workers, I gotta stop calling co-workers friends, and said,
- 2:08saw him, young male, it's that young one, which is the exact text that I said
- 2:13to my friend after I see a cute guy.
- 2:16So she was arrested at LAX while she was actually on her way back to China.
- 2:20Bad luck, I guess. So if you're an Irvine relator and your side hustle is international
- 2:26espionage, maybe don't put surveillance under a list of specialties on Zillow.
- 2:31Or maybe you should because then China will reach out to you and you'll make some extra money.
- 2:36The Supreme Court kicked off its new term this week, and already it's facing
- 2:40questions about its legitimacy and the future of the court. Whoa.
- 2:45So the justices are returning with this huge slate of cases involving voting,
- 2:50immigration, guns, and presidential power.
- 2:53And Americans, like, we're all being asked to trust these nine people to make
- 2:57decisions about the country, even though we can all barely collectively agree
- 3:01on whether a restaurant should have a four-star rating.
- 3:04The court has also been dealing with a lot of public confidence.
- 3:07Like, as we all know, everybody hates them.
- 3:10There's like a few good people in there. And people on both sides of the aisle
- 3:15are questioning its decisions and whether or not they're being too influenced
- 3:19by some big orange people.
- 3:21So this is a little awkward, right? I mean, the whole point of the Supreme Court
- 3:27is that it's supposed to be above politics, above the law, above everybody else.
- 3:32It's basically the judicial version of saying, don't worry, I'm completely unbiased,
- 3:37while wearing your favorite candidate's campaign t-shirt.
- 3:41So, this new term is officially underway, so buckle up because this reality
- 3:45show just got renewed for another season.
- 3:48Amazon is giving some Prime customers their money back.
- 3:51So that's great news for everyone who has spent way too much money than they
- 3:54would like to admit with that company.
- 3:56So Amazon is sending out refunds as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the
- 4:01FCC because the company signed people up for Prime without their consent and
- 4:05made it really hard for them to cancel.
- 4:07So now millions of people are eligible for automatic refunds,
- 4:11with the maximum payout increasing from $51 to $200.
- 4:17So the payment started going out on October 1st through PayPal,
- 4:21Venmo, or a check. And right now, if you're like, wait, am I getting money back?
- 4:25You don't have to fill out a claim or anything to do it. So you might get it
- 4:30back. It's just going to hit your bank account.
- 4:32So, I mean, that's honestly refreshing to hear, right? I mean,
- 4:35usually when someone tells you that you're getting $200, there are like 14 different
- 4:39forums, a password reset, and a captcha asking you to identify literally every
- 4:43traffic light in a photograph that you apparently cannot figure out.
- 4:47And if you already did get your $51 back, you could get another $149, making your total $200.
- 4:56Whoa, guys. So check your PayPal, check your Venmo, check your mailbox.
- 5:01And if you get a message asking you to pay money to receive your Amazon refund, that's a scam.
- 5:07Because even your refund needs a scammer trying to steal it.
- 5:10And Lindsay Life, I just want to shout out to everyone who reached out to me
- 5:14yesterday about speaking up about Title IX on my podcast.
- 5:18I always knew that when I had a platform someday that I was going to talk about
- 5:23how Title IX affected me.
- 5:24And I definitely want to continue to make it a thing because this is such a
- 5:29big deal that this has become such national news. So that's really exciting.
- 5:34And this week has been really full circle for me. I guess, yeah, it's Tuesday. Okay.
- 5:40So the past day has been really full circle for me.
- 5:45I went to Fideye yesterday to see a movie. I saw Verity.
- 5:49If you didn't see the book, don't watch it. It's not good.
- 5:52You only should go see it if you read the book. Anyway, so.
- 5:56I went to Fideye and about five years ago now,
- 6:00I lived in a hotel room with my cousin who was in high school at the time she
- 6:05was taking an acting class
- 6:07and I got fired from my corporate job I was doing marketing for a metal refinery
- 6:13yes I know I can get into that a different day,
- 6:16but anyway so I had no job that summer I was looking I was super lost I like
- 6:21literally didn't know what I was going to do with my life I was doing stand-up
- 6:24back at the time and I was like,
- 6:26I want to do something with comedy but I'm not exactly sure how and this is
- 6:30before I started being like a PA and going on set and all that stuff.
- 6:34So being down there yesterday felt like really full circle as well because I'm
- 6:39like, wow, I finally kind of figured out what I'm doing and,
- 6:44you know, five years later.
- 6:46And yeah, so that felt really cool. And this isn't funny at all,
- 6:49but that's just my Lindsay life update.
- 6:52Lindsay lessons, a lesson by Linz. Don't be surprised when your mom gets upset
- 6:57when you tell her all the little dirty details of your life.
- 7:00She is your mom after all.
