- 0:00Doing Marriage Well for April 9th, 2026 The Armor of Fear Finding Emotional
- 0:06Nudity in Your Relationship Today's No-Closed-Doors Challenge is to open up
- 0:10your deep emotional places.
- 0:12I realize what I've already discussed this week has a lot of emotions attached
- 0:16to it, but today I want to get more raw.
- 0:19Aside from your past and any wounds, how emotionally vulnerable can you be with your spouse?
- 0:24To reiterate what I said on the first day, safety is a valid issue here.
- 0:28If your spouse can't be trusted with your naked emotions, you must protect yourself
- 0:32If you're not sure they can be trusted,
- 0:35go slow That said, some folks armor up not because of their spouse,
- 0:40but because of their own fear or past injury When you choose not to close any emotional doors,
- 0:46you don't hide your feelings What's more, you make an effort to share your feelings,
- 0:50even when it's difficult Handling emotions takes care
- 0:54It's fair to say emotions are never wrong But that
- 0:57doesn't mean what emotions drive is correct Emotions are
- 1:00indicators of our heart condition Even when they aren't based
- 1:03on objective truth Feeling jealous is a valid emotion Getting angry at your
- 1:07spouse for no reason apart from your feeling is unacceptable Getting defensive
- 1:12or hurt because your spouse admits to jealousy is also unacceptable If you have
- 1:16done nothing to justify jealousy That is a reflection of their internal struggle
- 1:20rather than any actions you have taken.
- 1:23You can accept your spouse's emotions without taking responsibility for them.
- 1:26You can express compassion for painful emotions without feeling guilt.
- 1:30You may be able to help lessen the emotion, not because it's your responsibility,
- 1:35but because you love your spouse.
- 1:37Imagine being able to share or hear your spouse express feelings like jealousy
- 1:41without ending up in a big fight.
- 1:43Imagine how healing it would be to discuss the issue calmly.
- 1:46Imagine reassuring your spouse without anger or defensiveness,
- 1:50and then praying together that they will get over it and that you won't inadvertently
- 1:53do anything to make it worse.
- 1:55Imagine dealing with the whole thing as an us thing with mutual grace and understanding.
- 2:00Yes, opening all the doors to your emotions can be terrifying,
- 2:04but if you and your spouse can both do it and handle it well,
- 2:07the result is extraordinary.
- 2:08Fear and shame melt away, and you feel heard and loved in the ways you never thought possible.
- 2:13If this sounds like something you might like to do, have a long talk,
- 2:17or several talks, about it before
- 2:19you start. This is Paul, and emotional nudity is doing marriage well.
