- Jessica Figueroa: Good morning listeners. My name is Cindy and I love being here with you. One of the things I tell my children all the time is that your reputation walks through the door before you do. I tell them I tell them to think about it like that. Like imagine there's another person that walks through the door before you, before you even enter the room. And that person is your reputation. So before you walk in the room, what people think, what they have heard about you, it walks through the door before you do. And we don't want to be people who are over concerned what people think, but we should know that people are making snap judgments. Malcolm Gladwell talked a lot about snap judgments in his book Blink. It's a great read. Highly recommend it. But he's talking a lot about snap judgments. So just know that your reputation enters somewhere before you do. And when it enters that room, what is it saying before about you? Is your reputation walking in a room and saying, gosh, they're so negative? They always see the downside to something. They'll be here any minute. Hold on. Or is your reputation walking through the door before you and saying, You have never met anyone full of more joy than this person? They're about to be here. Wait till you see it for yourself. Or is your reputation walking through the door before you that, they're non-committal? So if they tell you they're gonna meet up, you have a 50-50 chance of that happening. They'll be here in a second, see for yourself. So I want you to imagine this other person that walks into every room before you and tells a story about you to the people in that room. And then you walk through that room, but you didn't get to choose what that person said about you. The life you're living decides what was said about you. The life you're living typically Dictates what's going to be said about you before you walk into a room. I do want you to remember that reputation is how others perceive you, and then your character is who you are on the inside. So there are people that have a bad reputation given by other people, but their character reveals itself. And especially in this age, day and age, we love tearing people down. We love making up stories and lies about them. But I'm talking about in your circle of people who know you. I'm not talking about social media, people who don't know you. But in the room of people who know you, your reputation's gonna walk through that door before you do. And what is it saying? Something to think about. See you guys tomorrow.
