- 1:04We are live.
- 1:05Hey, everybody, what's up?
- 1:06This is Jeff Zimphur, host of Mortgage Marketing Live, and I've got a special guest
- 1:08today, Renee Rodriguez.
- 1:09You're going to hear from him in just a minute, and we're going to get started, so don't
- 1:14go anywhere.
- 1:22Thank you for joining this wonderful world we're in now, which is nothing but virtual online
- 1:37Facebook lives and such.
- 1:39Hope you're holding up well.
- 1:40I'm doing good, man.
- 1:42Just make sure my camera's on there, right?
- 1:44Yeah, I'm doing, I'm an introvert, man.
- 1:47So, working inside, I'm good with it.
- 1:50Wait a minute.
- 1:51How can, as much of an established speaker as you influencer from the stage, speaking to
- 1:57thousands, how can you be an introvert?
- 2:03How, I don't know.
- 2:04I don't think I always, I don't think I always was, I don't know if I always was, but
- 2:08I think introvert, introversion and extroversion is also pretty misunderstood, too.
- 2:13It's really not about, it's about where you gain your energy, where you refresh from.
- 2:18And so, being on stage and influencing and training and speaking, very fulfilling, but
- 2:25it doesn't re-energize me after I'm done.
- 2:28Being around people doesn't re-energize me, I have to be alone, or a very small group.
- 2:32And so, that's what re-energizes me and kind of gets me going.
- 2:37So I can, I do find energy from the work I do, but it's also, it's not what re-energizes
- 2:45me.
- 2:46Let's put it that way.
- 2:47It's very interesting.
- 2:48I'm kind of wired in the same way.
- 2:50And I can go out and speak and do all this, you know, host shows and all that.
- 2:54But yeah, I need my recharges alone, time, quiet time, or small groups, but some people
- 3:00get recharged in big groups.
- 3:02Yeah.
- 3:03Yeah.
- 3:04He's done it that way.
- 3:05He's just, he's missing his interaction with people, and so I feel for those that need
- 3:09that.
- 3:10It's a real deal.
- 3:11I mean, it's definitely different times for a lot of people right now.
- 3:15Yeah, my son is the same way as well, my younger one.
- 3:18So he said that-
- 3:19And so I feel for those that need that.
- 3:20It's a real deal.
- 3:21I mean, it's definitely different times for a lot of people right now.
- 3:25Yeah.
- 3:26He's had to make some adjustments for sure with that.
- 3:28All right.
- 3:29So let's get into the content here today.
- 3:31Today what we're talking about, and I'm just checking in on our Facebook feed.
- 3:34If you're here, let us know that you're watching live.
- 3:36So we're talking about how to show up in a crisis today.
- 3:40And obviously, normal has been canceled, and I know you've been having conversations
- 3:46with people.
- 3:47Let me get a sense of, is there a recurring theme, a word or an emotional description that
- 3:54are you seeing this show up in your conversations?
- 3:56A recurring theme, a great question, by the way.
- 4:01Is there a recurring theme?
- 4:03For me, I look at, and I get hypersensitive during crisis and stress.
- 4:09And when I say hypersensitive, it was, I begin to observe.
- 4:12I don't.
- 4:13I'm not a panicker.
- 4:14I'm not somebody that begins to become an alarmist or anything like that.
- 4:18I look and I watch and I observe.
- 4:20It's when I learn the most about people.
- 4:23And something that I said in the beginning, it's been the impetus behind the article that
- 4:28I wrote around the 10 leadership brands.
- 4:30You don't want.
- 4:31And why I'm doing the Lighthouse series is looking at who we are during times of crisis
- 4:37is really burns in the brand of who we are as a leader.
- 4:42And so I've been telling people, I said, look, whoever you've been during this time get
- 4:46used to it because that's what people are going to see you for the next 10 years.
- 4:50And when we look at it from that perspective, we have to ask ourselves tougher questions.
- 4:54How am I acting?
- 4:55How am I behaving?
- 4:56The piece that probably I'm going to be doing next is what's our parent brand?
- 5:01What kind of parent leadership are we showing right now?
- 5:04Because our kids are watching and it's so easy, me included, it's so easy to forget that
- 5:09our kids are watching every single thing that we do.
- 5:12And I got to keep asking myself, how am I showing up in the world through their eyes?
- 5:17And that changes the equation again.
- 5:20So yeah, that'd probably be the first answer I give you.
- 5:23All right, so that's a topic that I've been talking about a lot with some of the trainings
- 5:27that I'm doing is how do we show up in a crisis?
- 5:30And to your point of how you show up now, it's interesting how this heightened sensitivity,
- 5:35the awareness, the memory that's going to happen because I think everybody's attention
- 5:41is so crystallized.
- 5:42We've heard the stories of how brands are showing up and everybody's getting the emails
- 5:46from like during this time of crisis, right, COVID, we're here for you and you haven't heard
- 5:50from them in six months or whatever.
- 5:53So how are you advising mortgage professionals to show up?
- 5:56And by the way, as we know, the only way to show up today is online.
- 6:00So where do we start?
- 6:02Begin by being aware of how you are showing up because you're showing up when you're trying
- 6:06not to show up.
- 6:09That's deep, man, as deep you're showing up when you're not trying to show up.
- 6:13Yeah, everything you decide to put online is part of your brand.
- 6:17So if you're putting out memes every 30, 30 minutes, if you're the one that is known for,
- 6:23if you find value in being the first one to show a meme and to show the joke, and now
- 6:29don't get me wrong.
- 6:30I love jokes.
- 6:31And 100% of my close friends know that we have meme wars going on all the time, but that's
- 6:36not where my brand is.
- 6:37Those are personal relationships.
- 6:40And but everything that you post online, what you decide to forward, how you decide to
- 6:44comment, the things that you gravitate towards is how you're showing up.
- 6:49And if you forget that that's what you're doing and then you try to lead in another way,
- 6:55forgetting that the previous 20 things you've done have been outside of brand, it doesn't
- 7:00make any sense.
- 7:01And so imagine showing up at a Burger King or McDonald's or somewhere and they're serving
- 7:06lasagna.
- 7:07You'd be like, what?
- 7:08I don't get it.
- 7:10The same way that the jokester is constantly joking shows up and tries to inspire for a minute.
- 7:15It doesn't make any sense.
- 7:17And I'll never forget Dave Chappelle in his standup when they were talking about, forget
- 7:24what crisis it was.
- 7:25I got to go back and they were saying, well, let's go to Jaw Rule and see what Jaw Rule
- 7:30has to say.
- 7:31And Dave Chappelle goes, well, thank God they got an expert because we want to know what
- 7:37Jaw Rule thinks.
- 7:38And his brand has been a rapper and a part, you know, thrown a party.
- 7:42And then just the lack of judgment on the reporter to think that we'd want to know what
- 7:49Jaw Rule thinks during a time of crisis.
- 7:52And it was so funny because it shined a light on how ridiculous that was and all it does
- 7:56is illustrates that we all have a brand and when we aren't aware of that brand, that's
- 8:04the scariest point.
- 8:05And then now, here's the part, if you do realize that you're an alarmist based on your
- 8:09historical post, if you realize that you're, you know, Donnie Doomsayer, if you're Jester,
- 8:14the Joker, if you're constantly joking around or if you've been apathetic and tone deaf,
- 8:20you know, then you go, okay, is it who you want to be?
- 8:24Because if it's not, if it is who you want to be, then keep going.
- 8:26If you want to be the jokester, that's awesome because we do need humor and levity and all
- 8:31that sort of stuff.
- 8:32I am not downplaying it.
- 8:33I'm just saying it's not the brand I want.
- 8:37And if you want to be a leader, you have to just ask yourself, is that the best brand
- 8:41for you?
- 8:42And so then start asking yourself, what do I do and how can I show up?
- 8:47Very, very thoughtful and insightful.
- 8:48And before we get into our next section here, I want to give a quick shout out to Katie
- 8:52Shive, who's watching us on YouTube, Katie.
- 8:56We appreciate you showing up here today.
- 8:58Watch us on YouTube.
- 8:59Thanks for being here.
- 9:00So you talk a lot about this strategy or concept of the, I believe you call it the Lighthouse.
- 9:07Is that correct?
- 9:08And that's kind of what I've been in the trainings I'm doing with real estate agencies, trying
- 9:14to make it clear for them that this is, and I think for mortgage as well, this is our
- 9:17opportunity to show up and be that lighthouse, that beacon.
- 9:23But I want to understand in the context of what you just said, I mean, do you think if
- 9:28people haven't been the lighthouse before, can they not pivot and be that now?
- 9:33You can totally do that.
- 9:34You can totally do that, but it just might not be received right away.
- 9:38It might not be received right in the right way.
- 9:40So brands take time to create, but the good news is, is you can shock people in a grid
- 9:47way by showing up during times like this, because again, people are hypersensitive to what's
- 9:52going on.
- 9:53How many times have you had somebody in your life that say this person showed up and it
- 9:56was the last person I expected to be there for me, but they showed up during that time
- 10:00and they were solidified forever as somebody that I trust.
- 10:04And so why it wasn't about that they showed up is about during the time in which they showed
- 10:08up.
- 10:09So we all have an opportunity to show up right now, and to be different now.
- 10:12That again is an overused term.
- 10:14How you showing up, how you showing up, how you showing up, what do I mean by that?
- 10:18Think of the closest centers of influence or the people that you influence right now.
- 10:23Sometimes showing up just means with your kids.
- 10:26If you don't, I have a platform.
- 10:27If you're not lucky enough to be invited to speak on a podcast or whatever it is, then
- 10:33who you influence?
- 10:34If you've got 100 friends on Facebook, then you got 100 friends, or was it at 16% of
- 10:38the people only watch?
- 10:39So you have 16 people watching you, whatever it is that your influence circle is, you
- 10:45just start there.
- 10:46And I tell people, so what do I want to say?
- 10:48I've had so many people saying, I want to show up differently.
- 10:51What should I say?
- 10:52Wrong question.
- 10:54Question is, what's on your heart?
- 10:57And what do you want to share with the world?
- 11:00What are you feeling right now?
- 11:01Because sometimes showing the journey of the emotion is showing up.
- 11:07So what if somebody is confused or, you know, deals with the whole, well, in total disclosure,
- 11:14right?
- 11:15I mean, I've been there before.
- 11:16It's just like, you ask yourself, what could I say that would make a difference?
- 11:20You go through that little phase.
- 11:22We all do that.
- 11:23Yeah.
- 11:24Help there.
- 11:25But so it's because it's what can I say to make a difference is I think is the to make
- 11:31a difference is the wrong question, because we're doing it for the wrong reason.
- 11:35We, and that's the, that's the whole, excuse my language, after part about influence is
- 11:40we want to be influential, but the moment we try to be, we're not, because we're trying.
- 11:47Well, we're doing it for the wrong, yeah, we're performing.
- 11:50And that's the difference between expression and impression.
- 11:53Once we get into trying to impress people, we've moved out of an expression of what we
- 11:58believe for the most powerful and the most impressive, the most influential, the most impactful
- 12:03thing we can do is let our hearts speak.
- 12:05And what does our heart speak mean?
- 12:07It means that we speak from our history, our memories, what we believe, our values, our
- 12:11principles.
- 12:12When we, when we speak from that area, that place that we have so much conviction that
- 12:17even if we don't agree, we respect it, and we like it, and we can trust it, because
- 12:24it's you.
- 12:25That takes some courage, though, doesn't it?
- 12:28Huge, massive, because I mean, you're asking for rejection, because most of the people
- 12:33aren't going to agree with you.
- 12:35You know how scary it was for me to post that the Lighthouse series and things that are,
- 12:39I hold very dear and the 10 leadership brands, I was like, I don't want to post this because
- 12:44I'm going to piss some people off.
- 12:45And then I just said, you know what's good, and I just hit send and walk away.
- 12:49And what's what's been the impact of that so far?
- 12:52Very positive, um, silence from the people that I kind of thought would be silent.
- 12:57Hmm, really?
- 12:58Oh, okay.
- 12:59Yeah, it's okay.
- 13:00I mean, and here's the thing, somebody called me and said, did you write this one?
- 13:03Was this one about me?
- 13:04And I said, I don't know, did it have, did you resonate with it?
- 13:07Because if it did resonate, then yes, I wrote it for you and for all of us.
- 13:12But in there, it's, I find myself in many of those brands I don't want to be.
- 13:16That's the challenge.
- 13:17There's so many times, I know you've probably done this too, you're about to post something
- 13:20you're like, delete, I'm about to comment and like, delete it.
- 13:27So it's, it's a hard one, man.
- 13:29It's not easy.
- 13:30And that's the beautiful part.
- 13:31It's a struggle.
- 13:32And anybody who says it's easy is going to lie to you about other things too.
- 13:34This is a struggle.
- 13:35It is a dilemma.
- 13:36It is a challenge every day, which is why we need to engage in the dilemma.
- 13:39We need to engage in the challenge and embrace the fact that that's where we get better.
- 13:44It reminds me of the, probably overused, at least for me, military term of embrace the
- 13:50suck.
- 13:51Yeah.
- 13:52Yeah, it's overused until you have to do it, then you're like, this does suck.
- 13:57But the War of Art by Stephen Pressfield, which is a great book.
- 14:01The War of Art.
- 14:02I haven't heard of that one ever.
- 14:03I mean, art of the war, of course, but the War of Art, I like that idea.
- 14:07It's a very, you know, which is good.
- 14:10But the whole point of it is, is that anything that we're trying to create something like
- 14:13you're creating your platform, you're, you're speaking your influence when we are trying
- 14:17to create and step into something new or different, right?
- 14:20You could categorize it as art, in a sense, right?
- 14:23Because we're evolving into something we haven't been.
- 14:26And the point of the book is that you're going to hit resistance.
- 14:30And that's the war, right, between creating and becoming the new and you've got a big willing
- 14:34to break through that.
- 14:35Yeah.
- 14:36I agree.
- 14:38So tell us about Amplify, because I'm seeing you blow up all over the internet with Amplify
- 14:42influence.
- 14:43And it's like, you can't get in.
- 14:44It's sold out for years in advance.
- 14:47And I'm hearing incredible stories of transformation with people that come through Amplify.
- 14:52So what is that?
- 14:54So Amplify is a course that I've done for about 15 years, but I never opened it up to
- 14:58the public.
- 14:59It was something I did with private clients.
- 15:00And the only reason I didn't open it up, it wasn't I was trying to be secretive or
- 15:03anything like that.
- 15:04I didn't want to get into the business of event planning is literally a boring reason
- 15:09for that.
- 15:10But it's event planning is hard, you know, and so, but it's something that for years I have
- 15:15been asked, how do I change my presentation style?
- 15:19How do I become a more effective leader?
- 15:21Like you're doing something that I've been trying to get people to do in the digital world
- 15:25right now, which is digital body language.
- 15:27And when we're speaking, we have what I call the influence zone, which is from your belly
- 15:32button to your eyes.
- 15:34And if your hands are within the influence zone, you're influencing.
- 15:38If they're here trying to, and I'm saying, hey, I'm really excited to be here and my hands
- 15:42aren't here and I'm there.
- 15:43All of a sudden it's out there.
- 15:45But most people forget that there's an influence zone in here and you were talking about right
- 15:48here and you're kind of in our face with your hands and doing this, you know, and all of a
- 15:52sudden that becomes more engaging because I have this square, where is it?
- 15:56The square from right backwards here, from right here to influence, right?
- 16:02So I've got this area, and if I'm utilizing this area like this, and if I'm hiding behind
- 16:08the microphone and I pull out my pretentious pop filter and, you know, all of a sudden,
- 16:14like, yeah, yeah, we're really good here and you know, I can't even see me, you know,
- 16:18I try to hide this thing as much as I can, but it just, it just sounds so much better.
- 16:22But the, there's other things that, you know, from an amplifier perspective, it's taking
- 16:28you look at the three, five, three to five hundred things like that, they come together
- 16:32to create influence.
- 16:33The use of a pause, ums and aves, how to get, how to tell a story by looking at history
- 16:40versus trying to create.
- 16:42You don't speak from the heart by looking forward.
- 16:45You look at from backwards of what you believe and that's, that's a reverse process.
- 16:50You look back and you uncover what you've done.
- 16:53That storytelling, making things up is, is looking forward and you can always tell when
- 16:58that's happening because your body language changes, your tone changes and it's not as
- 17:02believable.
- 17:03But when you're recalling history and events and learning to tell your story and what
- 17:07it calls getting your heart to speak in sequence and first, getting your heart to speak is not
- 17:11an easy thing because we have been trained to not, right, right, yeah, absolutely.
- 17:19It's, it's what it's painful.
- 17:21And then, of course, we speak when we're hearts do speak at first, it comes, it comes
- 17:24out kind of sloppy and not very sequential.
- 17:27And when I talk about sequence, I'm talking about the neurological sequence with the brain,
- 17:30how the brain listens best.
- 17:32And so when we combine this sort of breakthrough moment of allowing ourselves to come out with
- 17:36a scientific methodology, now all of a sudden that comes together and it does become a pretty
- 17:41life changing awareness.
- 17:43And so people walk out of there going, seeing the world differently, seeing how they tell
- 17:47their story differently, their value propositions, seeing other speakers and other things vary,
- 17:52very, very, very differently.
- 17:53And so you can't unsee it then.
- 17:55And so then begins the journey of amplify is when you're done because now every talk
- 18:01you have this little person on your shoulders, like, okay, we hold on, I didn't tie it down.
- 18:05What's my frame?
- 18:06You know, am I using enough contrast and have I am I speaking from the heart, you know,
- 18:11all these questions that sort of are drilled.
- 18:12And so amplify is a combination of learning the science, but then putting it to practice
- 18:19for three days.
- 18:20So you're in front of the room with me anywhere from five to three feet away from you almost
- 18:26the entire time, starting and stopping you over around every single bit of body language
- 18:32quirk, you name it, it's being called out and we're fixing it now.
- 18:39It sounds quite honestly like it meant some for some people like, you know, want to respond
- 18:44like a little intimidating, it is very intimidating.
- 18:50It is and it isn't for everyone.
- 18:53It's definitely isn't and it's it is, but I'll tell you this, we use, we make the process
- 19:01safe.
- 19:02We make the process very fun three days goes by very fast.
- 19:08Most people come back to in three, if not four times because of the, it's a 10, it's
- 19:14limited at 10 people so that people, everybody has their own different experience in there.
- 19:19I've had, I've had speakers in there that speak 80 to 90 times a year at $25,000 each.
- 19:25In the same room with somebody who's barely can get a few words out.
- 19:29And there's value for both because the, because there's only 10, I can customize the experience
- 19:35for everyone.
- 19:36That's, yeah, it looks very transformational so I put a link by the way in the notes
- 19:40here.
- 19:41It should be showing up and everybody's feed and we'll make sure people can, can get
- 19:44access to you and the website and all that stuff before we're gone.
- 19:49So speaking of transformation, we mentioned this earlier, speaking from your heart, I mentioned
- 19:53the word courage that that takes courage.
- 19:55First of all, I want to shout out to Owen and Carolyn Jean Pierce, you both showed up.
- 20:03That takes courage.
- 20:04Thank you for showing up here today on our Facebook live stream.
- 20:07So speaking of courage though, you did something that I really didn't have a lot of time to
- 20:12dig into yet, but it looks very intriguing and that's the courage scale.
- 20:15Can you just unpack that a little bit for us if you don't mind?
- 20:18Yeah, I highly recommend people watch the video, it's just, it's pretty, it's pretty
- 20:23in depth.
- 20:24But it was a, courage scale was a concept developed by a guy with a name of Dr. David Hawkins
- 20:28and he was a world famous psychiatrist, psychologist and medical doctor.
- 20:32So I mean, this guy was, he was, he was very smart and he had very large practice, 50 consultation
- 20:41rooms in New York City and left that to study these different states of being and I always
- 20:44keep one by my desk here.
- 20:46But it talks about, you know, being above this line or below this line and below the line
- 20:52are the feelings of death, shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, anger and what he says is
- 20:57those are the taking side of life, right?
- 21:01And he signed a logarithmic number to him, sending how much energy, how much vitality
- 21:04was given off.
- 21:05But so you reach this number of 200, which is the courage line and above the courage line
- 21:09are openness, willingness, reason, logic, joy, peace and enlightenment.
- 21:12All the things that are would be considered the taking side and so it's pretty simple when
- 21:16you think about it because I, we all know that there's givers and takers in this world.
- 21:21And so you can think of somebody right now that lives their majority like below the line
- 21:25and in fear apathy guilt, shame, anger and the moment they call you, even on the caller
- 21:29ID, you see them and you're just like immediately you just feel your energy drain versus somebody
- 21:35that's above the line that's open and logic and love and joyful and if we're lucky enough
- 21:40to know somebody who was enlightenment in light and that'd be great too.
- 21:43But then they give you energy.
- 21:44And so what the reason I started with that in the lighthouse series was I wanted to give
- 21:49people a framework to understand where they were at.
- 21:52Am I above the line or below the line and it was that simple.
- 21:54I don't want to make it over the complex but and we all know when we look at it that
- 21:59way, we know where we're at.
- 22:01We know when someone walks in a room where they're at.
- 22:03We know the entire room if it's above the line or below the line.
- 22:05This is a skill set that's innate to being human.
- 22:08Most of us just never put a code to it or word to it.
- 22:11So I wanted to give it a word because my good friend Dave Savage always says that if you
- 22:15can name it, you can tame it, right?
- 22:17And he took that from something.
- 22:18He's a David.
- 22:19He's watching this.
- 22:20Give me the quote source on that one.
- 22:21If you can name it, you can tame it.
- 22:22I thought that was really, really smart.
- 22:23But it's really the beginning process of emotional intelligence is understanding the
- 22:26self-awareness of where I'm at and then the empathy to understand where somebody else
- 22:30is at.
- 22:31And then the skill to be able to change how I am to best effect to the person I'm working
- 22:37with or the group I'm working with.
- 22:38And so by giving people a way to look at this, and you can download it, you can go to
- 22:45the courage scale.com or you go to my website or it's in the Lighthouse series, all that
- 22:49stuff is there.
- 22:50You're on scale free.
- 22:53But yeah, there's beginning to create that self-awareness that empathy and then the skill.
- 22:57Those three things coming together is what really helps us create a framework.
- 23:00And it's all the things I'm creating now are designed for families as well.
- 23:03I want people to take them to their sales groups, to their leadership teams.
- 23:06I've had CEOs of billion dollar organizations call me and to the shangit with a team all
- 23:09the way to family members.
- 23:10They're saying, I should watch it with my kids.
- 23:12That was what I tried to create it for.
- 23:14Wow.
- 23:15That's really cool.
- 23:16I'm going to dig into that as well.
- 23:17Because face it, when throughout life are there not times when we need courage.
- 23:23For all the different roles, we play right, family, business, relationship, all that we're
- 23:28called upon to have courage.
- 23:30100%.
- 23:31OK, so before we wrap up, because I know you're busy, if anybody's watching here virtually,
- 23:35you've got a question for Renee, probably one of the most renowned people when it comes
- 23:39to influence and obviously communicating with your heart, having courage, especially
- 23:46in times like these, right?
- 23:48I'm leveling up my communication skills and I think that's what you and I are probably
- 23:53saying in many different ways here today is that we need to become better communicators
- 23:59today.
- 24:00Yeah.
- 24:01And in a different way too, because we don't have the in person right now.
- 24:05So body language and animation of the face, our hands, what we're wearing, our background,
- 24:12I mean, I was going to take down all that stuff.
- 24:15That's what I'm working on.
- 24:16Those are my white porch.
- 24:17And so that's just part of the deal.
- 24:18That's the real you.
- 24:19Yep.
- 24:20And you chose something that's critical to you that's success, looks like this, feels
- 24:24like this, but it's actually like this, those are core messages.
- 24:27And if we learn to pay attention, we know it's important to people.
- 24:31So look behind them.
- 24:32Look in that, what's going on.
- 24:33I'm not a big fan of the fake backdrops and things like that.
- 24:35I think they're kind of layman.
- 24:37But it's better.
- 24:38Zoom.
- 24:39It's fun.
- 24:40Yeah.
- 24:41I'm involved in, you know, it makes big indentations on my head that really work.
- 24:45I hear you.
- 24:46But yeah.
- 24:47What's up, Kimberly James?
- 24:48Good to see you here.
- 24:49And by the way, I got a shout out for you, Kimberly James.
- 24:51Are you ready?
- 24:52Congratulations.
- 24:53You are a winner.
- 24:54Yes, Kimberly James, because you showed up, you get a free copy of my soon to be released
- 25:00book, Disruptor Die.
- 25:02How to survive and thrive the digital real estate shift.
- 25:04It was ready to go live.
- 25:05Can you believe this or not, Renee, but then all of a sudden COVID happened.
- 25:08And I'm like, hold on.
- 25:09I think I have a few things I need to add to the book.
- 25:11Good for you, man.
- 25:12Congratulations on that.
- 25:13That's a big accomplishment.
- 25:15That's a courage award right there, man.
- 25:17Absolutely.
- 25:18So Kimberly, hit me up on Facebook so I can get your, your mailing address and we'll send
- 25:23that out to you.
- 25:24All right.
- 25:25So I want to close this out with, I'm curious about this, Renee.
- 25:29What drives you, man, like, what, what turns you on, you know what I mean?
- 25:35In the right way.
- 25:38There's a difference between what, what gets me started sometimes versus what drives
- 25:42me.
- 25:44Sometimes what kicks me on isn't always positive.
- 25:50Sometimes it's a, can you swear on your podcast?
- 25:53Yeah, man, go ahead.
- 25:54Sometimes it's a big fuck you to someone or to a group.
- 25:57So that motivates you to say screw you, pal.
- 25:59This isn't, yeah.
- 26:00Somebody that didn't believe, right?
- 26:02Or a, I have lost so much respect for Grant Cardone in the last week.
- 26:14And I'm going to say that and I have friends that were closely with him.
- 26:17And I was like, you know what that deserves, right there, man?
- 26:20And here's why, right there, right there, right there.
- 26:22And I'm going to say that also those that know him well say that he's a very good man.
- 26:27So I want to say that as well.
- 26:29I don't know him personally.
- 26:31I don't know him personally.
- 26:32So I'm not judging him personally.
- 26:34I don't have enough information to do that.
- 26:36But those that I do know that know him say he's a very good-hearted person.
- 26:39But I think he made a big mistake.
- 26:41And he made a big mistake with his hoax around saying that he was going bankrupt.
- 26:46And it was a mistake because of what he did, people followed.
- 26:51And then the next day saying, and if you watch it saying that it was in today's world,
- 27:00you have to be crazy.
- 27:01You've got to talk about things like murder and bankruptcy.
- 27:05And I'm like, oh my God.
- 27:07And I thought to myself, how many people are going to follow this advice?
- 27:13And then start flooding our feeds with hoaxes and attempts by overusing and crying wolf
- 27:21when things aren't real.
- 27:23And to the thought of, you know, it may not have been his intention, I don't know what
- 27:28it was.
- 27:29I don't know if he cares.
- 27:30I don't know.
- 27:31I'm nobody in his mind in his world.
- 27:33But the fact that he didn't realize that influence goes against everything that I believe of
- 27:38use that influence.
- 27:39Now, here's the other thing.
- 27:40What I believe doesn't get much follows.
- 27:43And so I'm not teaching you how to get a thousand, a hundred thousand followers.
- 27:47And so that's not something that I'm qualified to do.
- 27:51He's way better at that.
- 27:53I'm just talking about for myself personally, that drives me double down on sharing how
- 28:00to be influential in accordance to your values, whatever your values are.
- 28:05And so that to me is something when I see that kind of stuff, it makes me say, I got to
- 28:10start getting better at what I do so that people can listen to what it is that I'm talking
- 28:14about.
- 28:15So that drives me.
- 28:17But what keeps me going is more spiritual, probably, I don't know if there's a right
- 28:21place for it.
- 28:22But it's, I believe that God has given us all gifts.
- 28:25And I believe the most important thing that we need to do, I mean, if this guy created
- 28:29us, or this gal created us, right, if it's a he or she, whatever it is, and they gave
- 28:34us his opportunity.
- 28:35And as a part of that gift, here's something that's special for you.
- 28:39And at the end of my life, they go, dude, I gave you this gift and you did nothing with
- 28:43it.
- 28:44I don't want that conversation.
- 28:45I want the conversation to say, I gave you this and you flourished and you shared.
- 28:50That's honestly what drives me to maximize the gifts you've been given to further and
- 28:56further away to God, your creator, whatever you, whatever the spiritual thing or the energy
- 29:00or the spiritual thing, whatever it, it doesn't matter to me.
- 29:04But something gave me something and I want to help make this a better place utilizing
- 29:10those things.
- 29:11That's it.
- 29:12All right.
- 29:13I was going to let you get off on that one, but I have to ask this final question then
- 29:15because you said God gave everybody gifts, but why do some people struggle to recognize
- 29:23that or identify comparison?
- 29:25Because you watch, I mean, Tony Robbins has a gift and he's influencing millions.
- 29:32I don't, I'm not influencing millions.
- 29:34I'm influencing a lot of people, but not millions.
- 29:37And so if I were to compare myself to a Tony or a Grant Cardone or something, I'd be
- 29:41depressed.
- 29:42I'd be depressed.
- 29:43I feel like I was a failure every single day.
- 29:46I got to compare myself to the best of my ability every day.
- 29:49And who is in front of me?
- 29:51My mother told me one time she said, I don't like working with leaders.
- 29:54But for me, for some reason, they listened to me.
- 29:56So that's my call to power.
- 29:57I have to do it.
- 29:58Your mom said that.
- 30:00Really?
- 30:01That she didn't like working with the leaders?
- 30:03She didn't, but that was, but they listened to her.
- 30:05She wanted to work with communities and the poor, but for some reason, business leaders
- 30:10listened to her.
- 30:11So she had to listen to that.
- 30:13For some reason, that was a gift.
- 30:14And if they were listening, then she had to step into that.
- 30:17And we have to start paying attention to who's listening.
- 30:19What is it that our job is?
- 30:21If it's through art, if we're a janitor, if we're a landscaper, what is it that's, what's
- 30:26our contribution to this?
- 30:29If you're a carpenter, you know, whatever it is, if you're an engineer, if you're a musician,
- 30:34who is it that I just saw somebody post today and I kind of wish I remember what was,
- 30:38but they posted, hey, for those of you that want better backdrops for your Zoom and artist,
- 30:41release a bunch of photos, they're beautiful, perfectly designed as backdrops.
- 30:45Yeah.
- 30:46I was like, that was really smart.
- 30:47They're affecting the world by making it more aesthetically beautiful and maybe more
- 30:51engaging so people engage in a meeting.
- 30:52That is influence.
- 30:53That is utilizing your gift.
- 30:55And I hope and I pray that people will remember that artist.
- 30:58Interesting.
- 30:59Very interesting.
- 31:00Good insights.
- 31:01And I know one of the things that you're gift, by the way, and I would agree with you
- 31:03that that is part of your gift just because I've watched you over the years.
- 31:08People have shared stories about the impact you've made through your training, education,
- 31:12the amplify program.
- 31:14So if anybody's watching live or on the replay, I put the link saying, we'll put them
- 31:18in again.
- 31:19First thing I suggest you do is go follow Renee everywhere you could find them, right?
- 31:22From the socials.
- 31:24Secondly, go to his website, which is crenayspeak.com and then you'll get links to amplify and
- 31:29everything else out there.
- 31:30But just watch the videos, right?
- 31:31The series of videos that you put up are like an extension of this conversation, the lighthouse
- 31:36series, right?
- 31:37Wow.
- 31:38That's just an amazing journey you've taken people on there.
- 31:41So man, that's for your gift.
- 31:43Appreciate that.
- 31:44Thank you.
- 31:45You do a one-on-one course on how to make all of this looks as good as you do, man.
- 31:49You're doing a great job.
- 31:50Listen, dude, I'm fumbling by the minute here.
- 31:52Yeah.
- 31:53You just fumble more often and quicker so you go through the learning curve faster.
- 31:57You're living that success road right there behind you.
- 32:00Well, see, that's just that's part of having courage, I guess, right?
- 32:02Where some people will remain frozen by fear, like, I don't want to look stupid, where
- 32:06I'm like, I'm a perfectionist with all this stuff.
- 32:09That is right.
- 32:10I don't understand you looking dumb because I'll just get back to up the next day, you
- 32:13know?
- 32:14That's awesome.
- 32:15I'm just going to remember it anyways, right?
- 32:17It's lost in the feed, but anyways, man, listen, I know you're busy, incredibly, you
- 32:21know, with all the stuff you got going on, so thank you for being here and thank you
- 32:26for contributing what you do to the industry.
- 32:28Just remember this, man.
- 32:29Those of us who have things to share, I was doing 100 events a year, they are all cancelled.
- 32:34Some are coming back, but the fact that you're doing things like this gives us a platform
- 32:37again.
- 32:38Don't forget your influx, keep pushing, keep doing what you're doing because without people
- 32:43like you that are willing to fumble and learn this technology, I'm stuck in my office
- 32:46talking to myself.
- 32:47So, I appreciate it, man.
- 32:49And I know we'll see each other again in person at one of these upcoming events, for
- 32:52you.
- 32:53We will get you there, man.
- 32:54All right.
- 32:55So, here's the one we're going to do.
- 32:56I'm going to try and go out by using one of these fancy little slides with a video that
- 32:58I bring in.
- 32:59Let's see if it works.
- 33:00I'll connect with you at a later point, man.
- 33:02That's a good one.
- 33:03Thanks, man.
