- 0:00Today's episode is sponsored by Being Sick. When you have actually so many things
- 0:04that you need to be doing, it's the worst.
- 0:07Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Sarcast. I give you the news and made you a laugh.
- 0:12I'm Lindsay Vernick, and today is Friday, March 13th, 2026.
- 0:17Happy Friday the 13th. I'm still not feeling too hot, and I have a lot of new
- 0:23listeners on the pod, so I figured today might be a good day to reshare my chipmunk story,
- 0:28which is when I was a chipmunk on a dating show on Netflix called Sexy Beasts.
- 0:33If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend you take the eight minutes out
- 0:37of your day to turn on Netflix Sexy Beasts season two, episode four,
- 0:43Sully the Bat. It's super fun.
- 0:45And this is the story of how I became a producer and the whole story of what
- 0:53happen in detail of when I was a chipmunk on Netflix.
- 0:57So I hope you enjoy. Let's go all the way back to the year 2020 when I was living
- 1:03in Philadelphia with my best friend at the time, having the best time of our
- 1:07lives, partying every weekend. I had a ton of girlfriends I loved to go out with.
- 1:12Everything was so great. I had this amazing, amazing 9-to-5 in marketing I loved.
- 1:17Unfortunately, one day I got let go from the job and I was so crushed.
- 1:23I felt that the world was over for me. I was so upset.
- 1:28For weeks, I'm applying to jobs. I'm taking some calls online over Zoom.
- 1:33COVID's starting to come. It's starting to come out from China that it's this weird bird virus.
- 1:40And people are starting to get sick but no one really knows what it did yet
- 1:44and it's probably just nothing right at the time too i was doing stand-up at night in philadelphia,
- 1:50and i'm really really enjoying it and i love being
- 1:53creative and funny and i it was a really great
- 1:56time when i did it but i still knew i had to make money so i'm
- 2:00going online i'm on backstage and i see this ad for
- 2:03single like a fun single dating show
- 2:06and i'm like this is cool and it
- 2:09was pretty indescript it just said if you're a single
- 2:12and if you're single and you're fun and
- 2:15you want to do something new try out this new dating show
- 2:18on netflix come come sign up
- 2:21so i was like hell yeah so i hit apply i fill
- 2:23it out nothing we a couple weeks go by i'm interviewing and nothing sticks taking
- 2:29some zoom calls over the phone and covid's starting to become more and more
- 2:34of a thing and more and more people are starting to get laid off and it's starting
- 2:40to get a little scary, but I'm still going about my daily life.
- 2:43And as I'm applying to more and more jobs, I'm like, you know,
- 2:48why? I never heard back from that casting director.
- 2:51And I go, so I go back on the ad one day and I'm like, I'm so bummed.
- 2:55I never, I never heard back from the show.
- 2:58It would be so cool to be on a dating show. So we go back to the ad.
- 3:02At the bottom, it had the casting director's email on there.
- 3:05And I'm like, oh my God, obviously I'm just going to email him.
- 3:10Previously, I think it was about like a month before, it was the,
- 3:15I don't know if you've watched Schitt's Creek.
- 3:16It was the Schitt's Creek series finale.
- 3:20So my family and I, in spirit of Schitt's Creek, because it was COVID,
- 3:25and I was like, guys, let's get into this. It is Schitt's Creek series finale.
- 3:30This is huge. So my dad took out his tux from 30. He has some worn in 30 years.
- 3:35He put that on. He dressed up as Johnny. My mom dressed up as Moira, as the mom.
- 3:42Nicole, my sister, was David. And I, of course, dressed up as Alexis.
- 3:46So my, of course, if you saw Schitt's Creek, and assuming that you did,
- 3:51I did the Schitt's Creek Alexis dance, and my dad taped it. I'm a little bit Alexis.
- 3:57So I said, you know what? Screw it. I'm going to just email this casting director.
- 4:01So I send an email to him and I said, I want to be on, I'm going to be on your show. I love this.
- 4:08And I sent a video of me doing the Schitt's Creek dance.
- 4:11An hour later, I get a phone call or sorry, an hour later, he emails me back.
- 4:17I am dying and I haven't even seen the show before.
- 4:21I get a call 20 minutes later from somebody in casting saying,
- 4:26Hey, Lindsay, we love that video you sent over. When are you free?
- 4:29You're doing an interview.
- 4:31So fast forward. Now this is July. Now we are in COVID and I'm back at my parents'
- 4:37house and I have my big interview for this show because you have to send,
- 4:43do a casting tape before you get selected and
- 4:47So I do my my dad gets my dad's a photographer in his free time and has a really
- 4:54nice camera. So he set it up for me in the kitchen and get my hair and makeup all ready to go.
- 5:00And I'm sitting there. I'm talking about my date stories.
- 5:04My dad's like sitting in the other room. They thanked me. And that was that.
- 5:07Over the next few months, I started to get back to normal life. I get emails.
- 5:12Hey, don't. Hey, sorry. Like we didn't forget about you. We're still moving along with this.
- 5:17I end up moving into a new place in Philadelphia.
- 5:22I still didn't have a job. I don't even think I had a job. I don't even know
- 5:26how I had money to move. I'm thinking back now, I moved into a totally new apartment.
- 5:30I mean, at the time, our rent was so cheap. I literally spent,
- 5:35when me and my two roommates in Philly, we literally spent $500 or $600 a month
- 5:41each on rent and had our own bathrooms in this beautiful place.
- 5:44Anyway, That's besides the point. Come September, they send me like this weird
- 5:48email and they're like, hey, you're going to come to London and this is going to happen.
- 5:53But first, like, but maybe we're not really sure if you're going to get picked.
- 5:58So can you just like send us some pictures of your face?
- 6:01Okay like they're like it's a mass show
- 6:05so like we need some pictures of your face first to make sure
- 6:07it'll fit right so he sent over pictures of my face
- 6:10and like okay great thanks and then I think like
- 6:13a couple weeks later I get another call and they're like and it's like hey
- 6:16Lindsay what's up can you can you come to London
- 6:19in like two weeks to film and I said oh
- 6:22my god what and pretty much
- 6:25gave me no details still on the dating show all I
- 6:28know is I'm gonna wear this mask I'm gonna and it's
- 6:31my episode like it's not one long series it's just one
- 6:33episode i'll be on and it will be either be me going
- 6:36on a date with three guys or i'll be going on a date or one
- 6:40guy will be going on a date with me and two other girls who knows so my parents
- 6:44are like lindsey like this is weird why don't we have enough information they
- 6:48start digging around about the production company and everything and and then
- 6:52it's like getting assumed like maybe this is like a sex trafficking ring we're
- 6:55like just not sure maybe i'm getting kidnapped like do i even go like what's the deal.
- 6:59I'm like, no, guys, like I'm going like risking this.
- 7:02I'm going to be on this show. Maybe like I don't think it's a sex trafficking ring.
- 7:07And like even if it is like I want to take my chances because like TV,
- 7:11you know, I want to be on TV.
- 7:12So then they tell me that there's going to be this reveal at the end of the
- 7:18show. No matter what happens, I'm going to have to show my face and it'll be like this huge thing.
- 7:23So my mom, my sister and I get in the car and we go to We're the King of Prussia Mall.
- 7:28Mind you, nobody's there, obviously. Like, it's getting to the end of summer.
- 7:33Everyone, or sorry, it's in September.
- 7:36COVID's here, yet we're basically the only people at the mall.
- 7:41And it's this huge to-do. Like, think prom mixed wedding dress shopping together.
- 7:47Like, that's the kind of energy that was going on in these dressing rooms.
- 7:50Like, it was the most stressful thing.
- 7:53My mom was like, I love this dress. I hated some of the dresses that she wanted.
- 7:57My sister didn't like this one, but I liked that one. It was this huge ordeal.
- 8:02A lot of fighting in the dressing rooms of the Kenya Prussia Mall.
- 8:07Finally, we land on this dress, and it was this whole thing.
- 8:09But then don't forget, there might be like a fitness date.
- 8:12So then we had to go to Athleta and Lulu and try on these different outfits
- 8:15because I had to get like a cute fitness outfit, too, that, by the way,
- 8:19I never ended up wearing.
- 8:21Finally, one day in October, they send the car to come pick me up and like whisk me away to London.
- 8:27And they send me along like all this COVID gear, too, because like going in
- 8:31them, just going to London in the middle of COVID.
- 8:34Like, who does that? So no one's at the airport.
- 8:37And like, I'm terrified. terrified I'm gonna get COVID and like I wanna follow
- 8:42the rules too they're like you must wear this mask and this face shield and
- 8:46like eye protectors or whatever like in this airport so I'm in this airport
- 8:50nobody else is there I'm like in face mask face shield like literally head to toe covered.
- 8:58Ready. I get on the plane to go to London. Nobody's on this plane.
- 9:02Like, I'm pretty sure there's four other people in there. I thought about sneaking
- 9:05up to first class, but I'm like, because there literally probably was maybe one person up there.
- 9:10But I was like, you know, I'm not like that episode of Seinfeld when she gets
- 9:13up there and they kick her back out.
- 9:15Like, I'm not I'm not going to do I'm not a mess. I'm just going to enjoy my
- 9:18my huge row to myself and close my eyes and, you know, pop my Xanax and wake up in London.
- 9:23So I get to London and I get picked up and they take me to this little one bedroom
- 9:29apartment because I have to quarantine for two weeks before I get on set with everybody.
- 9:36It's like this little one bedroom apartment that they put me in.
- 9:39I didn't know it at the time, but it would be one of my very first,
- 9:42one of my very many furnished apartments. So they said, here you go. This is your apartment.
- 9:48Do not leave for two weeks. Yeah, we'll send
- 9:51food and whatever so they sent me like I
- 9:54had two PAs who I had contact with every single
- 9:57day and they took it was a girl and a
- 9:59guy and they took turns calling me and checking in and I would tell them if
- 10:06I wanted to order like order delivery for that day or if I wanted groceries
- 10:11if I wanted to cook and the girl PA would like help me like come up with like
- 10:16fun recipes to make and it was really fun.
- 10:19I also like didn't want to go crazy in the space either.
- 10:23So like in the morning, only in the mornings and at night would I be in my bedroom
- 10:27or if like I took a shower and had to get dressed, that's the only time I would
- 10:30be in my bedroom. I tried to keep it just for sleep.
- 10:33So my day was pretty much like I would wake up in the apartment.
- 10:36I would go out to my dining room table. I would write the Daily Starcast in
- 10:41the morning because we were six hours. I was six hours ahead. So I.
- 10:47First thing in the States in the morning. So it worked out well.
- 10:51And then I would make breakfast on one side of the apartment.
- 10:54And then I would do like, I would probably work out for like two hours a day
- 10:59in like this little tiny nothing space.
- 11:01They like sent me weights and that kind of stuff.
- 11:03And then I would spend the rest of the day like six feet over on the other side
- 11:07of the apartment, like watching TV.
- 11:09I watched like a lot of TV. And I
- 11:11talked a lot to the PAs and about like what they do and
- 11:15how they got into it and I was really fascinated
- 11:18by their jobs I was like this is your job just like to
- 11:21talk to me all day and they told me how like you know to have fun with people
- 11:25and like order food and stuff like this is kind of a cool job isn't it and they
- 11:29were telling me like oh yeah like you can easily find this stuff when you go
- 11:32back home like you just get like these like month contract a couple month contracts
- 11:36and that's what you do and I was like Hmm.
- 11:39Interesting. And also at the time I was interviewing for a new job,
- 11:45like back in Philadelphia, because right, I mean, I was going to go on this
- 11:48TV show and then it was back to the grind back in Philly.
- 11:52So I'm interviewing at a metal refinery to be a marketing assistant at the time too.
- 11:58And I was so excited. Like I got the, like I was in the entire interview process
- 12:02while I was in quarantine and I got the job while I was in quarantine.
- 12:05It was a very, very exciting time for me at the time like I was literally like
- 12:10doing it was a the metal refinery this is like.
- 12:15Sidetracked so it was a company where dentists could sell like teeth and it's
- 12:19really gross and you don't you can you don't need to hear this but yeah so it
- 12:24was a very strange job I didn't last very long there.
- 12:27Clearly so i'm talking to the pas all the time like what
- 12:30is this show going to be like can you literally tell me
- 12:33anything like what's gonna happen and they said okay look
- 12:36you are going to be one of the girls who
- 12:39goes on the dates you're not gonna be like the girl with three guys
- 12:42and i was so bummed i told my best friend at the
- 12:45time and she was like well that's only from the main girl
- 12:48can only be like a model or something and that's why
- 12:50she's my ex-best friend and i'm getting ready for the
- 12:53shoot and they tell me to wear an outfit that
- 12:56covers my whole body so you know
- 12:59the guy can't see what i actually like look like they
- 13:02didn't want to give anything away like skin color anything so
- 13:04i said okay here's my turtleneck they got me stockings i was covered head to
- 13:11toe like also like i'm hoping if you've seen this i'm hoping that you've seen
- 13:15the show before sexy bees on netflix because i'm season two episode four i probably
- 13:21should have put that in the beginning.
- 13:22I was like, I'm going to play by the rules, obviously.
- 13:25So it's a few days before the shoot. A nurse comes to test me.
- 13:30Like the nurse comes to just give me one last COVID test just to make sure somehow
- 13:35I didn't pick it up over quarantine, whatever.
- 13:37It was TV was crazy with COVID. Like I came to find out later,
- 13:41like COVID testing and television was crazy.
- 13:44Like we tested a lot. And then he, this COVID nurse man goes on to tell me that
- 13:50he was once arrested in New Zealand for robbing ATMs and stole millions of dollars
- 13:55and pulls up YouTube on his phone and shows me all these videos of him robbing ATMs. I'm like.
- 14:01What are you doing here? Like, is this legal? And he was like,
- 14:04yeah, they'll hire anybody. And I was like, okay, that's cool.
- 14:08And then he tells me, he thinks he was just at the guy's house,
- 14:11like the guy's apartment who I'm going on the date with.
- 14:13And he's like, yeah, he's like smokes a ton of hookah. Okay. Interesting.
- 14:18Finally it ends and they take me out of the hotel and they drive me to,
- 14:24I think it was like an hour away at whatever.
- 14:27They drive me to this new hotel to put my stuff down
- 14:30and they tell me this is where you're going to stay for the remainder of
- 14:34the shoot and then they take me to another hotel to get
- 14:37into hair makeup to start filming so by the way so i like that is the amount
- 14:43like this is the most amount that i know about the show what i've told you so
- 14:47far like i still have no idea literally what i'm walking into so but all i know
- 14:52is that I'm about to find out what my mask is.
- 14:56So I'm walking down this hotel for my hair and makeup and I open up the hotel
- 15:01room door and on the bed is the chipmunk mask and I see two hair and makeup
- 15:06people smiling at me all excited ready to go.
- 15:10So I sit for like hours and hours. Okay, it was literally like three hours.
- 15:16But they're putting this crazy makeup on me. It's called FX Makeup.
- 15:21And the guy who did it, I still follow him on Instagram. He is the sickest FX makeup artist.
- 15:27He has done a ton of really cool horror films and stuff.
- 15:31I mean, I look like I was in a horror movie with my makeup.
- 15:35So they put this mask on me over my head.
- 15:38And I could not hear anything and
- 15:41I also couldn't eat anything either they let me they
- 15:44were like okay before we put this mask on like do you want to like eat or
- 15:47drink or do anything like before this goes on because like that's
- 15:50probably it for you for a bit I was like oh no
- 15:54it'll be fine they put the head on me I could barely
- 15:57hear anything that's going on like I'm pretty sure I
- 15:59spent that whole day just no I know I just spent that whole day
- 16:02just nodding and smiling even though they couldn't even see me
- 16:05smiling I'm like yeah whatever whatever you guys want sure so
- 16:08then i'm finally done i'm in hair and makeup
- 16:11i walk back to this hotel mind you this hotel is open
- 16:14to the public and all these people are looking at
- 16:17me like what the fuck this girl is walking with a chipmunk
- 16:20head in clothes just through
- 16:23the lobby very casually surrounded by people like this is
- 16:26strange they take me to i forget somewhere
- 16:29close by to this castle i don't know if you have ever seen
- 16:32the if you've ever seen that show you on netflix
- 16:35it's filmed at that same castle i thought
- 16:38that was cool i'm in my costume and they take
- 16:41me to the castle and the castle is like decked out
- 16:44for filming they take me upstairs to my photo shoot room
- 16:47where they do all the photo shoots and they have me stand at the photo shoot
- 16:51and start taking photos of me and videoing me of me just standing and dancing
- 16:57around and at first i'm like this is so awkward and weird but then eventually
- 17:00started getting into it i'm like smiling and i'm batting my eyelashes and i'm
- 17:03like chattering my teeth.
- 17:05I love that one. But the chipmunk teeth, it was really fun.
- 17:09So a little bit later, they are like, okay, next thing. Now we're going to go
- 17:14meet the other girls that you're competing with.
- 17:17And we're going to like film some stuff with them. And that's when you'll go
- 17:20on your date. Go downstairs into like this like big living room area.
- 17:25And I see they put a little microphone on me. This cute guy puts a microphone on me.
- 17:32And I forgot what his name is. Oh, no, my God. It was Archie.
- 17:36Archie puts a mic on me. and i'm sitting and
- 17:38i meet the other girls so there's the skeletons and
- 17:42she's wearing like this green dress or no
- 17:44no no sorry she was green and she was
- 17:47wearing a black dress and you
- 17:50lit i'm telling you like they really did the airbrush great like
- 17:53you could not see anyone's skin color like at all like no idea
- 17:56what she actually looked like and i sit down
- 17:59with her and then there was this girl that was a tree i for
- 18:02camary i forget her name the three of
- 18:05us sit down with drinks they like literally make us cocktails and
- 18:08they sit down they're like okay just talk and we're
- 18:11gonna film you guys so i'm like sitting on this couch and i've all these
- 18:13like three cameras pointed at me and we're
- 18:16i'm like supposed to be talking to these girls and so they're
- 18:19like they'll come in and like yell us stuff at us
- 18:22and be like talk about this so like we're chatting whatever i'm getting
- 18:25to know these girls the skeleton girl her ex-boyfriend
- 18:29cheated on her ex-fiance cheated on
- 18:33her with her stepmom while she was sleeping upstairs but
- 18:36she's got to keep the house though and then she shows me
- 18:39this giant side tat of harry potter cute we teach take turns going into the
- 18:44room going on dates with him sometimes when i would run out of my drink i would
- 18:48like wit i would be like guys i need another drink like whisper to the girls
- 18:52and then suddenly like one would appear and i'm like how did that drink just appear in front of me.
- 18:58That's so crazy. So funny now, like, being in production and looking back at this stuff.
- 19:02It was finally, it was last but not least, it was my turn.
- 19:05By the way, they cut that whole scene, by the way, of us, like,
- 19:08sitting in the living room chatting,
- 19:09which there was so much great content in there, but apparently,
- 19:12like, the EP called me later to let me know that the show was coming out, which is actually,
- 19:19like, now I'm thinking about it, it's actually pretty cool that the EP individually
- 19:22called every individual contestant,
- 19:26because there was a ton of contestants on that show so that was very
- 19:28nice of her to reach out personally to every person and let
- 19:31us know that that scene got cut but also the show was premiering so anyways
- 19:35i go on this date with so i go into the other room with this guy and i sit down
- 19:39with him and i'm like looking at him and i'm like what is he is he a bat like
- 19:43what you know i'm like trying to figure out like what ethnicity he is i'm like
- 19:48is he white is he asian like what like i'm literally.
- 19:52My brain is working overtime to try to figure out who I'm on this date with.
- 19:57And he's asking me questions, and we're talking, and I'm, like,
- 20:00trying to, like, think of, like, funny things to say. I'm so nervous, too.
- 20:04And then he, like, asked me if my cheeks were balls, like, my chipmunk cheeks
- 20:09were balls and, like, touches them. I'm like, no.
- 20:12And then, like, the producer came in, actually the one who I was just talking
- 20:16about, the EP, and, like, yells.
- 20:18She's like, hey, guys, can we keep this, like, PG?
- 20:22So the date was, like, 20 minutes or whatever.
- 20:25When they filmed my otf which is it's
- 20:28called an on-the-fly interview i got so excited i'm
- 20:31like oh my god the talking heads and it's so funny to
- 20:34now look back and years later and i'm the
- 20:36one who's like if i would have known that like three years later i would be
- 20:40the one producing and being one the one standing behind the camera doing that
- 20:45quote-unquote talking heads is pretty pretty crazy it's pretty cool to look
- 20:51back and be like wow like three years ago or four years ago or whatever.
- 20:56Actually, yeah, like four years ago now, I had no idea what it was.
- 21:00And now I'm like the one doing it. Whatever. Anyway.
- 21:02Anyway, so I do like quote unquote talking heads, which is fun fact called an
- 21:06OTF, which is an on the fly interview because it's on the fly and it's an interview.
- 21:12So now, you know, they're not called talking heads. So next we film the elimination round.
- 21:18So at this point, the guy, I don't even remember his name.
- 21:22Oh my God, this is so bad. I can't even remember what the guy's name was.
- 21:26Whatever, it doesn't even remember the bat.
- 21:28So at this point, the bat has to vote one of us off. And I'm like so scared it's gonna be me.
- 21:35It's not even like I really liked him. It's just the fact that I just, I didn't wanna lose.
- 21:40I felt it was like embarrassing to lose on a TV show
- 21:43you know so when he did vote me
- 21:46off I was so crushed like
- 21:49I don't take rejection well like I just it felt like a gut punch honestly and
- 21:54you could see it in my face too like you could when on the show when you watch
- 21:58it like I my eyes just well up and I'm so upset so I've been working with this
- 22:02one casting director I kind of felt like that little kid at a party like mom
- 22:06mom can you come here and she's talking to all these people.
- 22:09And I'm like, can you come out here with me? Like, I really need to talk to you.
- 22:13And I'm literally at any point, like, I'm choking up. I'm about to burst at
- 22:17any point so I could barely talk.
- 22:19So I finally am able to, like, pull her outside. And she's like,
- 22:24don't you need a jacket, love? And I'm like, oh, my God, my British accent is so bad.
- 22:27Don't you need a jacket, love? And I was like, no.
- 22:30And then as soon as we get signed, I'm like, I can't believe you voted me off. I'm so upset.
- 22:36I just wanted to win. She's like, oh, my God, I'm so sorry. I'm like,
- 22:41I just wanted to win. This is so embarrassing.
- 22:44She's like, this isn't embarrassing at all, love. Like, don't worry.
- 22:49And I was like, no, I am worried.
- 22:51Everyone's going to laugh at me when this comes out. I mean,
- 22:54everyone did laugh at me, but like for other reasons. And it was also very funny.
- 22:58Like now looking back, it's very funny how I reacted.
- 23:01He was like the real like top, top guy comes outside and is like, what's going on, dear?
- 23:07And I was like, oh, my accent's so bad. Please ignore this.
- 23:10And I was like, I just wanted to win. I'm just sad.
- 23:14And he's like, because it's all, you know what, love? It's all just telly. It's all telly.
- 23:20That's what I tell myself at 4 a.m. when I come here. It's all just telly.
- 23:25I'm like, OK, but I wanted to go on the dates.
- 23:28And he was like, you're he was like, but aren't you staying like five extra
- 23:32days here? Like we're literally doing all that stuff like you.
- 23:35You're going to have so much more fun on your own in London than going on these
- 23:39stupid dates and getting filmed. Like you don't want to be on camera having to do all this stuff.
- 23:44And I'm like, but I do, though, I do. Ew. Calm me down. He's like,
- 23:47just, it's fine. Like, this is literally, like, over tomorrow.
- 23:51Like, it's the fastest shoot day ever. Like, don't.
- 23:54Like, you would be filming for one more day. Like, I literally,
- 23:57like, the shoot days were literally two or three days long, depending on when you got voted off.
- 24:01So silly. So I'm, like, so sad.
- 24:04Get in the car with like my hair and makeup team and they're like
- 24:07he shouldn't have voted you off and i'm like i know i'm
- 24:10like it's just so sad so funny looking back
- 24:14get home i call my dad derrickly crying
- 24:17and he calms me down per usual you know
- 24:20they ordered me food and i'm like i'm not even hungry as
- 24:23i'm as i'm eating they're like just go to bed like tomorrow
- 24:26i'll be fine you have your reveal you're gonna have a great day
- 24:29and i was like i guess but i'm still voted off the
- 24:32show the next morning I get up
- 24:35and they say well you don't have
- 24:38to get up as early today because you don't have to get into three hours
- 24:41of hair and makeup so that's great and I'm like but I
- 24:44still wanted it I pack up and they're like you will not be returning back to
- 24:48your hotel room and again so I go back to the same hotel for my hair and makeup
- 24:53and the girls who did my makeup were amazing actually one of the girls it's
- 24:58they did my quote-unquote glam makeup one of the girls who did it.
- 25:03She was one of the makeup artists for Barbie last year.
- 25:07So that day I also decided that I'm going to flip the script on that.
- 25:12Fuck being upset about losing the show.
- 25:14Like I was like, you know what? I'm, I am about to go make my big reveal.
- 25:19I'm going to show these people what I actually look like and I'm going to have fun with it.
- 25:24How many more times, you know, how many times do you get to be on Netflix and have fun?
- 25:30Like how many times do you want, like this is a TV show. I'm gonna
- 25:33have fun with it because me being sad and
- 25:36upset about it is not gonna make anything better for me and it's only gonna
- 25:40make me look worse and so I came up with this great line and I told the makeup
- 25:46girls I said you know what I'm gonna say when I leave that room after my review
- 25:51I'm gonna say good luck girls you're gonna need it.
- 25:54And they were like, yeah, that's a great line. You better do that,
- 25:58Linz. And I was like, I will.
- 25:59They take me back to the photo shoot place in the house. And I do my photo shoot.
- 26:04And the director was like, beautiful, gorgeous.
- 26:07And I was like, oh, my God. At first, I was like, wow, he's really,
- 26:11he's so nice to his cameraman.
- 26:13Like, wow, he's so motivating. Like, wow.
- 26:17And then it took me a few minutes later. I'm like, oh, shit, he's talking to me.
- 26:21I thought he was just, like, complimenting his cameraman. And I was like,
- 26:24that was nice of you. I do my little photo shoot. I'm having fun.
- 26:28And then I do my reveal. And I say my line. And I'm so mad they cut the line.
- 26:34I literally, they kept the hair flipping.
- 26:36Because I say at the end, good luck, girls. You're going to need it.
- 26:39And flip my hair and walk out.
- 26:41Cut it. That was like the one thing I wanted in that show. Like the only thing
- 26:45I wanted them to keep. And of course they cut it, whatever.
- 26:48And then I spent five days in London because I asked them to book my flight
- 26:53for a later date and time because why not?
- 26:56And so to answer your question, how much did they pay me? I basically broke.
- 27:02I didn't break even. I definitely lost money. I definitely lost a lot of money there or like, sorry,
- 27:06spent a lot more money there than what
- 27:10I actually like I made I'm so lucky and
- 27:13so happy I did that because if it wasn't for being
- 27:16a chipmunk on Netflix I would never be a tv producer it's
- 27:19really cool to look back now like
- 27:23doing even doing this podcast telling this story and I don't
- 27:26know like I think the moral of the story too is if you love something like you
- 27:30should go after it because life is too short I don't mean to like get all sentimental
- 27:34right now because I know you know this is a comedy podcast but also just like
- 27:39I think it's also really important that like we all go after what we want.
- 27:43And yeah, of course, like money is always a factor.
- 27:47But it's just so crazy to think that like if I wasn't a chipmunk on Netflix
- 27:52that this I wouldn't be where I am right now and for something so crazy and drastic to happen.
- 27:57So I think also learning that, like, what you think might be the worst thing
- 28:00in the world could also be the very best thing, because also if I didn't lose that job.
- 28:05Marketing job back in Philadelphia all those years ago, I highly doubt I would
- 28:11be here right now telling this story.
- 28:14So, yeah, I hope you guys enjoyed that story, and I hope I never have to tell
- 28:19the story again, and I hope I never have to watch that show again,
- 28:21because I am so fucking sick of it.
