Transcript
- 0:07If your ex is a woman or an avoidant, especially a fearful
- 0:11avoidant and or you've been in no contact for months and months
- 0:16and have lost all hope of ever hearing from your ex, then this
- 0:20video is for you. My client got his fearful
- 0:25avoidant ex back after 9 long months and once they started
- 0:31seeing each other again, he asked her the question that most
- 0:34people never get the answer to. And that is what made her
- 0:38finally reach out after such a long time.
- 0:42And she gave him a very detailed answer that I know you'll be
- 0:45interested in hearing. So I'm going to walk you through
- 0:48the story in my client's own words.
- 0:51He was nice enough to write this up for me of how the
- 0:54relationship fell apart, what happened during no contact, what
- 0:58I believe caused the breakup, and what finally made her reach
- 1:02out with a substantial message instead of a breadcrumb.
- 1:06So stay tuned. Hi, this is Lucia with the Art
- 1:09of Love. I'm a deity and relationship
- 1:11expert specializing in helping you get your ex back or to get
- 1:15over to your ex. And welcome back my beautiful no
- 1:18contact army. Have you been a good little
- 1:20soldier and stayed in no contact?
- 1:22If you have, then hope you're using my app Silencio to stay in
- 1:27no contact and the link to that is underneath every single video
- 1:30and podcast. And if you'd like to read, you
- 1:33can also check out my book No Contact Secrets available at
- 1:37nocontactsecrets.com where you can read 2 free chapters before
- 1:41you purchase the book. OK, let's get started, get your
- 1:44popcorn. This is going to be long but
- 1:46interesting of course. OK, so he says from the very
- 1:49beginning, sparks were flying left and right.
- 1:52She would routinely tell me you're so attractive.
- 1:55I can't believe this sex is this good with a guy this hot.
- 1:58What is she saying? Is she saying you can't have
- 2:00good sex with a guy unless he's ugly?
- 2:04I don't know. She called me trouble.
- 2:07I love that. I bet you did.
- 2:10She said the feelings you give me scare me.
- 2:12Well, there was clue number one that there was trouble up ahead.
- 2:17That's me saying that, not him. So I told her, it scares you.
- 2:21And she said, yeah, it's like, I mean, it just makes me kind of
- 2:23crazy. Like, I'm a control freak, man.
- 2:27And I said, well, you don't seem like a control freak to me.
- 2:30Trust me. If someone says they're a
- 2:32control freak, they're a control freak.
- 2:34Trust them. And she said, oh, but I am.
- 2:37I don't like to lose control of how I feel and what makes me
- 2:40feel good. And, you know, when you really
- 2:42like somebody, it can make you kind of lose yourself.
- 2:45And there was yet another clue at that time.
- 2:50I kind of just brushed that off and chalked it up.
- 2:52I was like, oh, well, that's interesting.
- 2:54But hey, that's good, right? She likes me.
- 2:56Yeah. After we'd been dating about two
- 3:00to three months, it happened. She pulled away from me.
- 3:03She went cold where she was texting all the time.
- 3:07She was suddenly texting very little and not reaching out.
- 3:11She cancelled the get together with no reschedule.
- 3:14I reached out to her a couple of times and I just got short
- 3:17answers. So I responded to cold with
- 3:21cold. I started to take my time
- 3:23replying to her texts, would give short answers and sometimes
- 3:27only give a reaction to her text.
- 3:29A couple of weeks would go by and she would warm up and she'd
- 3:33say hey, what are you doing this week?
- 3:35And we'd start talking and then we'd start hanging out again.
- 3:38But every time this happened, something about the connection
- 3:42took a hit. It was like there was this
- 3:43tension there that kept increasing but I thought nothing
- 3:47of it and we kept going. Ended up seeing her one night.
- 3:51I could feel the tension. Something was off.
- 3:53She was extra Moody. She was hyper critical of me
- 3:57criticizing small things. I left early that night, didn't
- 4:00give a reason other than hey I got to work tomorrow.
- 4:03She knew something was wrong. She tried to get me to
- 4:06communicate with her but I just said no I'm tired.
- 4:08And I left the old oh, I'm tired excuse.
- 4:12Listen, if someone uses the I'm tired as an excuse, it's not
- 4:17true. It's an excuse.
- 4:18Don't ever believe it, OK? As you expect.
- 4:22As you'd expect. Not long after this, she broke
- 4:24up with me. I thought we'd recover from this
- 4:26one like all the others. It absolutely blindsided me.
- 4:30She said maybe we're just not right to be in relationships.
- 4:33And I don't think we can go backwards to friends with
- 4:35benefits. I guess friends with benefits
- 4:38was kind of our safe space. But anyway, I guess that's just
- 4:40how it goes. So I said you don't want to see
- 4:43me anymore. And she said, I think you're a
- 4:45great guy, had a really good time with you and I really do
- 4:48care about you. And I know we care about each
- 4:50other. I just think that we suck at
- 4:52relationships. And I said, well, you think we
- 4:54could see each other just once just to kind of talk things
- 4:57through. And she said, now you're being
- 4:59that low, smooth talking guy. I know that I would get feeling
- 5:04that you would get your feelings hurt if we met in person.
- 5:08Those words cut me deep. She was worrying about hurting,
- 5:11hurting my feelings. I said, OK, well, I guess let me
- 5:14know if you change your mind. Yeah.
- 5:16OK. OK.
- 5:18Someone's been listening to Corey Wayne.
- 5:20You know, you're not going to talk to someone out of breaking
- 5:22up with you when they've made-up their mind.
- 5:25So there was no point. But of course, he was
- 5:27blindsided. He didn't know that you're just
- 5:29supposed to say, oh, OK. But it's OK.
- 5:32This wasn't a fatal error. And so she said I lost myself
- 5:36trying to make you like me. I gave it 100% this time.
- 5:39I can't try any harder. I'm sorry.
- 5:41So I said, OK, peace be with you.
- 5:43And she said, but you're a good guy.
- 5:45You'll get treated like a king. Peace be with you too.
- 5:48Are we in mass here? Are we in a Catholic mass?
- 5:50Why is there we're saying peace be with you?
- 5:51What is this? And I guess by since you have
- 5:55weird rules about texting your exes, and I just said, I don't
- 5:58talk. I don't want to talk to you
- 5:59because I still care about you and I still like you.
- 6:01And the only reason I'd ever talked to an X would be if I no
- 6:04longer care about them or if I dumped them.
- 6:08And I felt guilty about it. And she said, yeah, yeah, toxic
- 6:11X's, whatever. And that was the last straw.
- 6:13I was ready to do no contact. I was so angry.
- 6:17I felt she so easily threw me in the trash.
- 6:20Well, no, that's not what happened.
- 6:21But of course, that that's how it appears.
- 6:23I knew at that moment I would never reach out to her again.
- 6:27I began drinking. I was confused, I missed her.
- 6:30I wanted answers. So I contacted Lucia.
- 6:34I received some valuable insight, but the main insight
- 6:37was, of course, no contact and that my ex was very likely an
- 6:42avoidant. So then he talks about the fact
- 6:45that there was a shooting in her building and there's a friend of
- 6:48his mutual friend that lives in the building.
- 6:52And so he contacted the friend, but just to find out what
- 6:55happened. But he wanted, of course, to
- 6:57find out what happened with the ex, if she, the ex was OK, but
- 7:00he didn't want to ask. So he just called the friend.
- 7:04And when he found out what happened, he figured the ex was
- 7:06OK. Well, two weeks later, the ex
- 7:12contacts him. And the mutual friend's name is
- 7:15Joe, by the way. And she says she texted him, and
- 7:17she said, so you can text Joe and make sure he's OK.
- 7:21Well, when she said that, that was actually a test and it was a
- 7:25bid for attention. And it was a sign that she still
- 7:28cared. OK.
- 7:29That's why she said that. And he answered with, well, I
- 7:32already knew Joe was OK. I hope you're doing well.
- 7:34She left a thumbs up emoji, that message.
- 7:36Yeah. She wasn't happy.
- 7:39I wanted so much to tell her. I called Joe to make sure you
- 7:41were OK. I had to fight myself not to
- 7:43text that. That.
- 7:44Yeah, that was the right move. Luckily you didn't do it. 45
- 7:49days later, she sent me a message and a picture saying I
- 7:52had to share this with you. Hope you're doing well.
- 7:54And I was with myself. What is this?
- 7:56What's the so it's OK to text Joe?
- 7:58And now she's texting this. So I guess you're going to
- 8:01forget all about that. So I left it on red and it was
- 8:05actually the best feeling ever. 23 days after that, I was really
- 8:11starting to feel good and I thought, you know what, I'm
- 8:13actually moving on. And then she reached out to wish
- 8:16me a happy birthday, and I said thank you.
- 8:20At this point, I was thinking, OK, well, eventually she's going
- 8:23to get vulnerable with me. Nope.
- 8:26Silence. Pure silence.
- 8:28Three months of nothing. The feeling I had of, hey,
- 8:32she'll be back, I'm sure of it was starting to diminish.
- 8:35Yeah, well, silence can do that to you because there's an
- 8:38information gap. You have no idea what's going
- 8:40on. So I noticed the pit in my
- 8:43stomach starting to grow. I start to feel.
- 8:45Really, truly, I truly started to feel grief and loss.
- 8:49I think I'd come to expect those bread crumbs and when they
- 8:52didn't come in that three month period, I began to feel some
- 8:55real pain. I was like, yo, I'm supposed to
- 8:58be feeling good right now. I'm supposed to be moving on
- 9:00around this time. I'm supposed to be dating other
- 9:02women and enjoying it, but I'm not.
- 9:06One day I went to work and I saw my ex sitting on the beach.
- 9:10He works at the beach, by the way.
- 9:12And she looked back at my truck as I drove by.
- 9:15And then she sent me a wave emoji.
- 9:17An hour later, I sent back a wave emoji also.
- 9:20And she sent me a picture of her and Joe, the mutual friend at
- 9:22the pool. And she said, look who I found.
- 9:26And, you know, they chatted a bit about that.
- 9:30And then he said that he found. I found a quiet spot.
- 9:34I turned the truck's engine off and I felt tears streaming down
- 9:38my face. I felt relief, longing, and
- 9:41sadness. I really didn't know why.
- 9:43Luckily, I had Lucia to tell me. She said the breadcrumb message
- 9:47reset my nervous system and the relief was kicking in.
- 9:52All that tension was releasing and it showed up as tears.
- 9:55After that casual conversation with her, she was gone.
- 9:59And though there's always pain and silence, this science was a
- 10:02little different. It was more confusing than
- 10:04painful. She would show up at the beach
- 10:07and just stare at my truck, well that's not creepy and then bolt
- 10:13but she would never reach out or wave.
- 10:15Then I saw her on Tinder and that wasn't fun and I knew even
- 10:19though it was likely she'd already been dating and seeing
- 10:21other men, at this point seeing her on Tinder just felt like
- 10:24such a slap in the face. Right after the conversation we
- 10:27had, she right swiped me on Tinder because I have the
- 10:31premium version, so I could tell.
- 10:33But Lucia said, don't you dare swipe right.
- 10:37If you do that, she'll get the relief of knowing that you're
- 10:39still interested without having to put any real effort forward.
- 10:43So I was a good little soldier, and I did not swipe right.
- 10:47A couple of weeks later, I realized nearly seven months had
- 10:51gone by and it was just too much time that had been devoted to
- 10:54this. And Lucia said, hey, I don't
- 10:58think this is healthy. It's been seven months.
- 11:01And no, sorry, he said, I don't think this is healthy.
- 11:04It's been seven months. I feel like my heart is still
- 11:05waiting. And she said yes, you've given
- 11:09them enough and if your ex isn't capable of coming back or giving
- 11:12you what you want, I know it hurts, but eventually you'll get
- 11:15over it. Well, somehow I started getting
- 11:17over my ex and then I got a text message.
- 11:24Of course, that's always how it goes, right?
- 11:26You start moving on and suddenly it was my ex.
- 11:30Happy holiday Santa. Exactly 3 months of no contact
- 11:34had gone by and she was sending me a holiday wish.
- 11:39I said I hope you have a good holiday too.
- 11:41Thank you. She sent me a picture of her
- 11:43with her dogs and she said just marry little elves over here.
- 11:46I hearted the message and then she said do you want to come
- 11:50over one night and I said yeah that could be nice.
- 11:55I told him that he could say that, and she said, yeah, you
- 11:58got to come and check out these curse Christmas decorations.
- 12:01I totally see a girl. I hope you know what you're
- 12:04doing because this is just completely not where I thought
- 12:06this was going. I thought that I had to, you
- 12:08know, like, not go over there. So you just want me to go over
- 12:10there. And she said, yes, you're just
- 12:12going to go over there. Yeah, because my advice isn't 1
- 12:15size fits all. That was a significant message.
- 12:18So of course you have to go. Well, when I went over there,
- 12:21well, I went over there and shortly after getting inside,
- 12:24she said, hey, can I have a hug? I said sure.
- 12:26And we hugged and we fooled around a bit.
- 12:28So slowly but surely we started seeing each other again.
- 12:33A few months later, after we settled in a bit more, I asked
- 12:36her that this is the part I know everyone is interested in.
- 12:39So what was it that made you reach out to me after all that
- 12:42time? And I told them to ask that for
- 12:45all of you listening. And I told them to use the that
- 12:48exact phrase. And she said I had to shoot my
- 12:53shot. I figured very likely you had a
- 12:56girlfriend or you just weren't going to respond to me.
- 12:59If I did nothing, I would wonder if I could have done something.
- 13:04I was scared of getting rejected by you, but I couldn't live
- 13:06without you knowing that. Maybe there was something I
- 13:11could have done, but I felt that you were not coming back to me
- 13:14on your own. Yeah.
- 13:16That's the power of no contact. You know, they always think at
- 13:19some point, you're going to reach out, you're going to
- 13:21chase. And at some point they realize,
- 13:23I guess he's not going to reach out and I don't want to lose
- 13:26him. So she said.
- 13:28I've only gone back to two other exes in my life, and both of
- 13:30them ended horribly, very quickly.
- 13:32And it just increased the suffering for everyone involved.
- 13:34But this is the first time that I've come back on my own, and
- 13:38it's also the first time the connection somehow just seems
- 13:41untouched. I hated that you wouldn't talk
- 13:44to me. I told myself that you didn't
- 13:46care. I still felt like that wasn't
- 13:48true, though. I couldn't get you out of my
- 13:50head. I admired that you let me go and
- 13:54I hated that I admired that I that I couldn't let he.
- 13:58She hated that. The fact that she admired that
- 14:00he couldn't let her go. That's why you're trouble.
- 14:04You see, I knew. Well, I guess that's thanks to
- 14:07the OG love goddess Lucia. Ha ha.
- 14:10Because they used your help throughout this entire process.
- 14:12After seeing each other for three months, we're officially
- 14:14back together. Woo Hoo.
- 14:16So what likely happened here is that she got emotionally
- 14:20activated very early, and instead of feeling safe inside
- 14:25of that connection, she started to feel a lot of control, as
- 14:28usually happens with fearful avoidance.
- 14:30So she basically told him that herself at the beginning when
- 14:33she said that the feeling scared her, she was a control freak and
- 14:37that liking someone can make you lose yourself.
- 14:40So that wasn't just flirtation, that was a preview of coming
- 14:43attractions. She felt a lot, and instead of
- 14:46relaxing into it, she started to manage it.
- 14:48So when she got overwhelmed, she pulled away.
- 14:52The problem is that then he pulled away too, and he wasn't
- 14:56doing it to punish her, he was protecting himself.
- 14:58He didn't know she was an avoidant, but from her side that
- 15:02made the whole thing worse. So now she's the one who created
- 15:05the distance. So she started the fire.
- 15:08But then when he responded by becoming colder, more guarded
- 15:12and less available, she felt the connection slipping and started
- 15:15over functioning to get it back. So then he added fuel to the
- 15:19fire by pulling back. So she'd warm up again, reach
- 15:23out again, re engage and restore closeness.
- 15:26And then once the closeness is back, she would get overwhelmed
- 15:30again, pull away again, and we're off to the races.
- 15:34We're in that cycle, we're in that loop.
- 15:36So that becomes exhausting, obviously, because every round
- 15:39damages the bond a bit more. It creates tension, insecurity,
- 15:44and resentment on both sides. He starts feeling confused and
- 15:48guarded because she's inconsistent.
- 15:51As I said, he didn't know at the time that she was a fearful
- 15:53avoidant and also that pulling away was going to make things
- 15:56worse. And she started feeling like
- 15:59she's the one trying harder, managing the emotional
- 16:02temperature and chasing the connection back to life after
- 16:05she destabilizes it. And that's why she said I lost
- 16:09myself trying to make you like me.
- 16:11That doesn't sound like someone who just lost interest.
- 16:14It sounds like someone who felt herself over functioning,
- 16:18overextending, and then eventually emotionally
- 16:20unraveling. So she didn't break up with him
- 16:22because she felt nothing. She felt she broke up with it
- 16:26because the relationship had come become too dysregulating
- 16:28for her. She was feeling too much and
- 16:31then pulling away and then panicking, and then he would
- 16:34pull away too, and then working too hard to restore closeness
- 16:37and then resenting how much effort she had to put in.
- 16:39And eventually she hit a wall. So the breakup was less about a
- 16:43lack of care and more about emotional overload.
- 16:46She couldn't tolerate what the dynamic was doing to her.
- 16:49So instead of fixing it, she ended it.
- 16:53But now they've been back together for three months and
- 16:56recently made it official. So all's well that ends well.
