- 0:16course, yin yoga, traditional Chinese medicine, reflexology,
- 0:21and even mindset acts. So thank you so much for
- 0:27pressing play on today's episode.
- 0:30Let's do this. Hello there, friend.
- 0:39Welcome back to the Yinning at Life podcast.
- 0:43Today I want to talk about something that is so simple, so
- 0:49undervalued, yet so potent and so powerful.
- 0:56Your breath. Yeah, we're going to talk about
- 0:59breathing and how your breath can actually help you expand
- 1:05into abundance. Might sound a little crazy or a
- 1:10little woo woo for you, but you know what?
- 1:12Stick with me. Listen in.
- 1:15And you know what? We're even going to do a little
- 1:18practice together. So grab your favorite bevy, get
- 1:23onto the couch, grab a blanket, get super comfortable and let's
- 1:27start talking about this, shall we?
- 1:30So of course, you know, we all breathe every single day and we
- 1:36don't think about it much, right?
- 1:38Like unless we're in a yen practice or, you know, maybe
- 1:42we're exercising or we're, you know, like maybe we've had a
- 1:45cold and so our breath is restricted.
- 1:47Then we think about it. But honestly, the truth is the
- 1:51way we breathe can actually expand us into abundance, into
- 1:56an abundant way of living and being, but also attracting
- 2:01abundance of all kinds. Yeah, just by breathing
- 2:05differently, you can open yourself up to receive more with
- 2:09ease. So I want to bring a little
- 2:13personal context into this because I believe that if I just
- 2:17give you information without any kind of integration, it's just a
- 2:20whole whack of noise and you're not going to get it.
- 2:24So I'm sure you've heard me talk about and you've even
- 2:28experienced yourself how yin yoga helps you to feel grounded
- 2:34and open, right? Like it certainly does for me
- 2:37when I do a yin practice. It doesn't matter what poses I
- 2:41do, I always feel grounded, open, relaxed, at peace.
- 2:49But the reality is the exact same thing happens with breath
- 2:53work. Yeah.
- 2:57So I'll be in a be in practice and maybe I've had like a super
- 3:02busy day. My mind is spinning a lot like I
- 3:05tend to, you know, have a very analytical, analytical, logical
- 3:09brain. So I can hold a lot of that
- 3:12heavy pressure and tension in my head.
- 3:16And of course, you know, that is connected to our bodies, so you
- 3:19feel it in your body too. But then as I start to breathe
- 3:23deeper, slower, and more intentionally, all of a sudden
- 3:31it's like my whole body softens and my mind quiets.
- 3:37I don't feel like I'm spiraling down the rabbit hole.
- 3:41And I feel this sense of peace and possibility, like space just
- 3:47opened up inside of me. And then this was the light bulb
- 3:52moment for me. That's when I realized, oh, this
- 3:57is the place from where abundance flows.
- 4:01Abundance doesn't flow from restriction, contraction,
- 4:07resistance. Abundance flows from ease, from
- 4:14groundedness, from calming. That's a receiving energy.
- 4:20When we're expanded, when we're breathing deeply, we are in an
- 4:27energy to receive. And that's when abundance starts
- 4:30to flow. So let's get a little sciency
- 4:34about it and let's talk about this.
- 4:37And how does your breath work actually help you attracting
- 4:42abundance? And then we're going to do a
- 4:44little practice together so that you can really kind of land this
- 4:47in your own body and experience it for yourself.
- 4:51So why is it that when we breathe deeply, we're more open
- 4:56to abundance? So how does this actually
- 4:58happen? Well, think about it.
- 5:01When you're stressed out, your breath is very shallow, right?
- 5:05Like I know I am. When I'm stressed, I can barely
- 5:08even notice that I'm breathing, and I know it's all coming from
- 5:12my chest. There's no diaphragmatic
- 5:14breathing happening at all. So my body thinks I'm in
- 5:18survival mode. And if I'm in survival mode,
- 5:22right? Flight or fright.
- 5:23Remember caveman days? Then we're not open to new
- 5:28ideas, opportunities, expansion, abundance, right?
- 5:33We can't be. We're in survival mode.
- 5:36But the moment you start to consciously breathe deeply, like
- 5:42you're really filling up your lungs and then letting it all
- 5:47go, that's the key, letting it all go.
- 5:51You're sending your body this signal.
- 5:55It's safe, I'm OK. And from there, the magic
- 6:02happens. Things start to shift.
- 6:06Your nervous system calms down. You let go of tension, you let
- 6:13go of all the stories, the spiraling, all of that gripping.
- 6:18And what are you left with after that?
- 6:21Spaciousness, openness, presence.
- 6:26That's where the energy of abundance lives.
- 6:31It doesn't live in the forcing. It doesn't live in the chasing.
- 6:35It doesn't live in the controlling.
- 6:38It only lives in an expanded, peaceful space inside of you.
- 6:46So who wants to actually try this right now, just for a
- 6:49moment? OK, we're going to do a little
- 6:51breath work now. If you're not driving, you can
- 6:54do this. If you are, then please come
- 6:56back to this portion of the podcast and join in then.
- 7:00OK, So come to a comfortable seated position.
- 7:06Somewhere where you can sit up really tall, where it feels
- 7:10effortless yet you feel supported.
- 7:15Your shoulders can drop down away from your ears. close your
- 7:20eyes down now. Don't change your breath, just
- 7:27notice it in this moment. Just notice your breath.
- 7:32Notice where you feel it. Notice the depth, the length.
- 7:40Notice where it gets stuck, where it feels maybe a little
- 7:43bit sticky or resistant. And don't judge, just notice.
- 7:54Now start to take a deep breath in through your nose, fill up
- 8:01your body, feel it expand, then start to bring the breath up
- 8:07into your ribs. Feel your ribs expand out,
- 8:10almost like you're playing an accordion through your rib cage,
- 8:15and then feel your chest begin to inflate and expand and fill
- 8:21up and hold that for just a moment.
- 8:25Hold that breath in that beat, and then slowly exhale through
- 8:33an open mouth just like this. Let's do that two more times.
- 8:51Inhale, fill yourself all the way up, not forcing it, just
- 8:59slowly drawing the breath up. Hold it for just a second.
- 9:06Exhale out your mouth. Let it all go, and one more
- 9:14time, slow, deep breath in. Fill the belly, fill the rib
- 9:22cage, fill the chest. Hold it for a beat and through
- 9:31an open mouth, exhale like you're sending out all that
- 9:35heavy energy, that heavy resistance.
- 9:44Now let your breath come back to an unmeasured state.
- 9:48Just let it flow naturally in and out through your nose and
- 9:54notice. How do you feel?
- 9:57I mean, that was only three breaths.
- 10:01But notice, how does your physical body feel?
- 10:07How does your mind feel? Even just those 3 breaths can
- 10:18shift your energy completely. Like how wild is that?
- 10:26And how so cool is that? And you know what?
- 10:29We all have this available within us, everyone.
- 10:39It's just about creating conscious awareness of your
- 10:46breath. So the next time that you're
- 10:51feeling stuck or maybe you're worrying about your health or
- 10:57your job or money or a loved one, or you're just in that I
- 11:03don't have enough space that you know that energy, right?
- 11:07Like it's just, I'm not enough. I don't have enough.
- 11:11Just pause, come back to your breath, maybe even come back to
- 11:16this portion in the podcast and do that simple breathing
- 11:21exercise. And I will tell you that the
- 11:24exhale through the mouth, for me anyway, it's always so powerful,
- 11:31especially when I feel really contracted and heavy, like
- 11:36there's a literally like a weight on my chest, right?
- 11:41And maybe I even got a little bit of like nervous anxiety in
- 11:44my body. And I just find that the exhale
- 11:46through the mouth is almost like it's purifying.
- 11:49It's clearing out, right? It feels like it's creating
- 11:53space for something new. And the reality is because every
- 12:01single inhale expands you, every single exhale creates that space
- 12:08for something new. That's the energy of abundance.
- 12:13Remember, abundance only vibes, is only attracted to the energy
- 12:23of expansion, of light, of spaciousness, of feeling
- 12:27grounded, calm, relaxed. When you're resistant, when
- 12:36you're controlling, when you're forcing, when you're gripping,
- 12:40when you're grasping, you're not in an abundant state.
- 12:49The universe only matches your frequency, so if you want to
- 12:55attract abundance, start to breathe in an abundant way.
- 13:04Doesn't that make so much sense to you?
- 13:06I hope it makes sense to you. If it does, leave a comment here
- 13:10in the podcast episode and just let me know.
- 13:13Like I will tell you I've been playing with my breath a lot
- 13:17lately. I've been doing different ratios
- 13:20like, you know, inhaling through the nose for four counts and
- 13:24exhaling for six and then like inhaling for seven and exhaling
- 13:28for 11. And I will tell you, I've been
- 13:31incorporating it more and more into my own yin yoga practice
- 13:37and it is so much more powerful for me anyway, when I exhale
- 13:42through an open mouth now, if I'm already kind of feeling in a
- 13:47calm, kind of chill vibe, then I might not necessarily exhale
- 13:52through the mouth. I might exhale through the nose
- 13:55because I don't feel that heavy contracted energy in my body.
- 14:01When I exhale through the mouth, it's like I'm sending out that
- 14:06contraction out of me, right? And that's making the space for
- 14:11abundance. So if this is like sparking
- 14:16something in you, you're like, oh, like I want to practice way
- 14:21more like this. I want ways to be able to move,
- 14:26to breathe and to soften into that grounded, abundant version,
- 14:32the one that attracts easily and effortlessly.
- 14:35Who trusts? Then come and join me inside the
- 14:38Soulful Yin app. It is full of yin yoga
- 14:43practices, breath work, meditation, I've even got
- 14:47acupressure and reflexology practices in there to help you
- 14:51come back home to yourself. So I'll pop that link in the
- 14:56show notes for you. And remember, you're only a few
- 15:02breaths away from abundant. And you know what?
- 15:11Abundance is your natural birthright.
- 15:16You are worthy of abundance, and nothing about you has to change
- 15:22that. So take the time every day to
- 15:30breathe into abundance so that you are living the most
- 15:36extraordinary life for yourself in a flexible body, in a calm
- 15:43mind, and certainly in an abundant vibe.
- 15:51So thanks so much again for pressing play on today's
