- 0:59And also the link for that is underneath every video and
- 1:01podcast. So we can't discussing detaching
- 1:06and moving on until we first discuss closure.
- 1:10And someone left an amazing comment the other day regarding
- 1:13closure and it says closure is for people with abandonment
- 1:18issues. I don't need closure if I'm
- 1:21healed. I've closed whatever needs to be
- 1:23closed myself and I totally agree.
- 1:29What a brilliant quote. Not everyone needs closure.
- 1:32People with a secure attachment and definitely avoidance do not
- 1:37need closure because we just villainize you in our minds and
- 1:41then pretend you don't exist and that's the closure.
- 1:44So if you have abandonment issues, that means you most
- 1:48likely have an anxious attachment style and you're
- 1:52going to think you need closure in order to be able to move on.
- 1:55And I'm telling you right now, you do not.
- 1:59That's just going to make things worse because you're not going
- 2:02to get the closure you're looking for.
- 2:03And I've actually done a video on that topic and I'll put the
- 2:07link in the upper right hand corner on YouTube.
- 2:10OK, so the first thing you have to do if you want to detach from
- 2:12your ex is to stop trying to not feel your feelings.
- 2:18It's exhausting fighting your emotions and the word emotion,
- 2:22it breaks down to energy in motion, E motion.
- 2:29And when you have emotion towards something or someone,
- 2:33there's a lot of energy around that and it needs to go
- 2:36somewhere. It needs to express itself
- 2:38physically. That's why people cry, laugh,
- 2:41scream, yell, etcetera. And of course also the opposite
- 2:45is true. If someone doesn't have emotion
- 2:48around a person, place, or thing, then that's where they
- 2:52are indifferent. There's no yelling, screaming,
- 2:55crying, laughing, etcetera. So if you're having trouble
- 2:59moving on from someone, it's because you're not letting the
- 3:02energy and motion fully move out of your body.
- 3:06That emotion wants to be felt and it wants to be seen.
- 3:10And once it's felt and seen, it will leave.
- 3:15So except that you still have feelings for them doesn't mean
- 3:18that you have to wait until all your feelings for them are gone
- 3:21before you detach. You need to help yourself by
- 3:24feeling the feelings, not beating yourself up for still
- 3:28having them. And that will help you to let
- 3:32the feelings go. Next you are going to make a
- 3:36list. Yes, another list.
- 3:39This is going to be a list of all the bad things that happened
- 3:43in the relationship and all the things you do not like about
- 3:48your ex and I want you to be very detailed.
- 3:52I want you to be very petty and write down every little thing.
- 3:58The time they didn't share their dessert with you even though
- 4:00they knew you wanted some. The time they kept you waiting
- 4:03for 30 minutes. The time it took them 8 hours to
- 4:06return your text and they never apologized or explained why it
- 4:09took them so long. Everything.
- 4:12And you're not going to do this all in one sitting.
- 4:15But once you start doing it, then while you're, you'll find
- 4:20that while you're doing other things, you know, walking
- 4:21around, taking a shower, about to fall asleep, you're like, oh,
- 4:25yeah. And then he did that.
- 4:28And then she did that. And then he said this, where's
- 4:31my list? I got to add this.
- 4:33So this is an ongoing list that you keep adding to as you think
- 4:37of more things because you're not going to think of everything
- 4:39in one sitting. And when you write, when you
- 4:43write things down, it forces you to look at the reality of the
- 4:46relationship instead of just ignoring everything and having
- 4:50rose colored glasses on and being emotional about the
- 4:52person. This forces you to look
- 4:54logically instead of emotionally.
- 4:57And when people start thinking logically, that's the beginning
- 5:02of falling out of love. If somebody you're dating, all
- 5:06of a sudden they're talking logically about the
- 5:08relationship, watch out. Watch out.
- 5:11They are falling out of love. OK?
- 5:14And also, you're going to keep this list handy.
- 5:17And so it probably should be on your phone.
- 5:19Look at it every single day to remind yourself of why you're
- 5:24detaching and why you're moving on.
- 5:26And you're probably going to get angry while you're reading
- 5:29through it, which is good because that'll help you to
- 5:32detach and move on. And eventually you're not going
- 5:34to have to read it every day because you'll be good.
- 5:37If you'll have moved on, you'll have detached and you'll even
- 5:40maybe be disgusted with yourself that you even considered wanting
- 5:44them back. Next you are going to remove
- 5:48everything that reminds you of them.
- 5:50I didn't say delete or throw away.
- 5:52You can if you want to, but not everybody does.
- 5:55So put things away so that you do not get triggered and then
- 5:58want to reach out to your ex. And if it's photos, you don't
- 6:02have to delete them, but put them either in a separate album
- 6:04or in a whole separate app in a photo vault or something so that
- 6:09they're not there in your pictures every time you scroll
- 6:11through your pictures. And then finally, you need to
- 6:15find something to do with all the extra time you now have.
- 6:19There is now a void, a vacuum which needs to be filled.
- 6:23Do not sit around moping and crying and wasting your precious
- 6:27time. I mean obviously you do that in
- 6:31the beginning to let the energy and motion move through, but at
- 6:37some point you got to get on with things because if you don't
- 6:41then you'll confuse being bored with missing your ex.
- 6:45So if you're just sitting around you don't want to do anything,
- 6:49you'll be bored and you'll be like I miss them.
- 6:52No, you're bored and you need to do something.
- 6:56Or another way of coping that some people do is they'll jump
- 7:01into another dating situation or a relationship and then get
- 7:06triggered and then contact DX. Now, of course, you know, I
- 7:10always mention the gym. That's first and foremost.
- 7:14But now you have time to do all the things you weren't able to
- 7:17do during the relationship. So keep yourself busy, keep
- 7:21leveling up, keep improving yourself.
- 7:24I'm not going to give you a list here.
- 7:26You find your own list depending on what you want to do.
- 7:28But on that list of things to do to fill the time is the gym for
- 7:33everybody. Everybody get to the gym.
- 7:36OK, so now I want to hear from you.
- 7:40Are you ready to detach from your ex and move on, or are you
- 7:45still going to hang in there and stay no contact for a while
- 7:49longer? Either way, it's fine.
- 7:52You can't detach and move on if you don't want to stay and no
- 7:55contact. But which one are you going to
- 7:56do? Comment below.
