- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:46created for a client that had anxiety over doing public
- 0:51speaking. And they had an upcoming family
- 0:54event where they were going to be doing a speech for a family
- 0:56member, and they were feeling nervous about that.
- 0:59And we've done some work to break some of the patterns, but
- 1:03this is about future pacing because a lot of anxiety around
- 1:09public speaking is anticipatory fear.
- 1:11And that might be days or weeks before the actual presentation
- 1:17or speech happens. And then that can create a self
- 1:21fulfilling prophecy because if you're feeling anxious thinking
- 1:23about it, you're more likely to be anxious when you're actually
- 1:26doing it. So this is designed to do the
- 1:28opposite. And that is to harness a very
- 1:30resourceful state when thinking about something happening in the
- 1:34future and then associating into that.
- 1:38So it creates certain triggers that increase the probability of
- 1:43really harnessing a a very confident and they in particular
- 1:48wanted comfort as a resource state.
- 1:51So a lot of the time I work with people and it's confidence they
- 1:53want this was about comfort and they wanted to feel comfortable.
- 1:57So you're going to, you're going to hear that particular phrase a
- 2:00lot in here. And I asked them, I said, where
- 2:03would they naturally feel very comfortable and they like to
- 2:06walk and while they're walking, they feel very comfortable.
- 2:10So it starts with an element of visualizing a walk and then in
- 2:16the walk, then thinking about this upcoming speech,
- 2:20disassociated and then associated.
- 2:22So any hypnotherapist listening will appreciate what I'm doing
- 2:26there. It's 2 levels of disassociation
- 2:30before associating into the resource state.
- 2:32And that's really important because a lot of people, if they
- 2:35just try and use things like affirmations and say I'm going
- 2:39to be confident, but they're not feeling confident, then you have
- 2:42this principle called the law of dominant effect, where the
- 2:45stronger emotion displaces the weaker emotion.
- 2:48And if you felt anxious a lot, it's difficult to feel confident
- 2:52if you're already feeling anxious.
- 2:53We have to reduce the anxiety first before we introduce the
- 2:57confidence or comfort state. So there's a bit going on here.
- 3:01What I would encourage you to do to get the most out of this
- 3:04session is to think about some form of speech or event or
- 3:09upcoming thing that you are going to be speaking in public
- 3:12anyway. So that when I make certain
- 3:16reference here about thinking about that future thing, you
- 3:19make it relevant to you rather than what was relevant to the
- 3:22original client that I was working with.
- 3:24And if you like the idea of this, feel free to listen to
- 3:27this as many times as you want. But if you want a customized,
- 3:31bespoke session just for you to help you prepare for an upcoming
- 3:34presentation or speech, there will be a link in the show notes
- 3:37where you can schedule a completely free consultation
- 3:39call. We'll have a chat just to see if
- 3:41I'm the right hypnotherapist to be working with you.
- 3:45For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:47won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:17Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, imagine
- 4:24breathing in a feeling of pure relaxation.
- 4:31And as you exhale, just get a sense that any tension, any
- 4:37worries, any fears are leaving your body in that outward
- 4:45breath. So it feels that you're
- 4:50breathing in comfort and relaxation and exhaling any
- 5:01stress or tension. Allow your eyelids to feel
- 5:07heavy, relaxed. Allow that relaxation to spread
- 5:15in your forehead and your jaw. And just notice, because you're
- 5:26breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension, something
- 5:32fascinating happens. The tiny muscles around your
- 5:37throat, your chest, and even your diaphragm also start to
- 5:42relax, so it becomes easier to breathe in deeply and exhale for
- 5:51longer. And I wonder if the breathing
- 5:57becomes not just deeper and longer, but effortless, almost
- 6:06like your body is doing the breathing for you.
- 6:11You don't need to force a breath in or force a breath out.
- 6:18Just allow your body to do the breathing for you.
- 6:21And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 6:28And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe, creating
- 6:40a wonderful cycle of ever increasing comfort and
- 6:46relaxation. As your body relaxes, your
- 6:53imagination awakens. And I want you to imagine the
- 7:00perfect place to go on a relaxing walk.
- 7:06Imagine that you can teleport yourself anywhere in the world.
- 7:13A promenade next to a scenic beach, a trail on a mountain
- 7:19pass, a secret passage winding through a forest.
- 7:29But you get to make this walk perfect.
- 7:34Make the time of day the perfect time of day.
- 7:41If you want people there, have people there, and if you want it
- 7:43to be entirely private, then that's how it is.
- 7:50Make the weather exactly as you would want it to be for a
- 7:55comfortable, relaxing walk. It could be sunshine or shade,
- 8:04hot or cold. I want you to find yourself
- 8:11walking in that place, perfect temperature, perfect breeze,
- 8:18perfect environment, and notice the rhythm of your walking.
- 8:29Maybe there's a particular pace or a rhythm that you get into, a
- 8:35rhythm where your body movement starts to synchronise with your
- 8:40breath until your body starts to walk like it's on autopilot.
- 8:49That you can walk without thinking, breathe without
- 8:53thinking, move without thinking. And when it feels that you're in
- 9:01that rhythm of walking, the right pace and the right
- 9:06environment, feeling so comfortable, just let me know by
- 9:12nodding your head that's in and in that comfortable place.
- 9:22Get to a point where it feels that you can walk on autopilot.
- 9:29And many times when you've been walking this way, isn't it true
- 9:35that you've started to Daydream, Think about scenarios and
- 9:40situations, memories or plans? You didn't make your mind do
- 9:45that. It did it because it could.
- 9:51So while you're imagining walking in that perfect place at
- 9:54that perfect rhythm, I want you to imagine what it would feel
- 9:59like to be in a modern venue, on a circular table, looking up at
- 10:11a very special event. And maybe you can see long
- 10:18rectangular tables of family members all congregated
- 10:23together. I want you to see yourself like
- 10:29you're someone else, sitting at one of those long tables.
- 10:37See how you're dressed, what you're wearing.
- 10:43But I want you to see how comfortable this version of you
- 10:47looks, engaging in conversation, smiling.
- 10:56You can tell from your facial expressions, your body language,
- 11:03everything about you that you are comfortable.
- 11:11And if you get a sound that you're seeing a version of you
- 11:19at an event looking very comfortable, let me know about
- 11:23nodding your head. And then I want you to see that
- 11:31that version of you starts to stand and maybe someone
- 11:39introduces you. Maybe there is a clink of
- 11:43glasses or a microphone that announces to people that you're
- 11:50about to be making a speech or a toast.
- 11:57I want you to see the moment that that introduction or
- 12:02acknowledgement happens, see yourself smiling in a very
- 12:07comfortable way. That version of you is glad to
- 12:13be doing this speech, and you can tell from the way that your
- 12:19posture is the balance. See yourself looking very calm
- 12:28and composed, relaxed and smiling.
- 12:34And then see yourself say the very first few words of this
- 12:42toast or speech, and notice how confident and comfortable those
- 12:52first few words are. You're just someone in the
- 12:59audience watching, but you can see how comfortable and
- 13:04confident those first few words are, and you get a sense that
- 13:12everyone in the room is relaxed, eager to listen to what you have
- 13:18to say. And then I want you to imagine
- 13:28seeing yourself continue with the toast, the speech, seeing
- 13:35the expressions of people that you're referring to, maybe
- 13:39someone in particular. Compliments are acknowledged,
- 13:47see people smiling. Maybe there's reactions from
- 13:54people in the audience where certain words create a wonderful
- 14:02reaction of ours, or agreements nodding heads.
- 14:15I want you to see yourself continue, maybe asking people to
- 14:18raise a glass to join you in celebrating, celebrating this
- 14:29moment. And maybe when that toast, that
- 14:37speech is finished, maybe you hear a few people clapping or
- 14:45murmurs in the audience that that was a good toast, a good
- 14:49speech. Then I want you to imagine
- 14:56rewinding it all like it's an old VHS video with a rewind
- 15:02button. And then when you see yourself
- 15:06looking very calm and comfortable before your speech,
- 15:12imagine swapping places so you are now in your own body,
- 15:18feeling it's just minutes away from a talk and you feel very
- 15:24relaxed and comfortable about that.
- 15:30And maybe you're introduced, or there's a microphone pass to
- 15:34you, or a clink of some glasses. The very point where you know
- 15:43you're about to talk. Feel yourself smiling at the
- 15:48very point where you raise yourself from your chair to
- 15:52stand. Feel comfortable, confident and
- 15:57empowered. Feel that this is something very
- 16:04easy and simple for you. And then imagine saying the very
- 16:12first few words with a confident, comfortable tonality.
- 16:20They leave your mouth exactly as they would really feel, like
- 16:26they're connecting with other people.
- 16:30You feel comfortable saying those words.
- 16:34As you continue, you relax even more, and maybe you have
- 16:42something written down just in case, but you don't need it.
- 16:48Your eyes are not on words on a page, they're on the faces of
- 16:52the people in the room. You are talking from your heart,
- 16:58not your head. It feels comfortable, natural,
- 17:04effortless. I want you to get a sand.
- 17:10Then there are people in the room which are influential,
- 17:20important maybe, but this is just your imagination, so you
- 17:26can play with that. You could imagine that there are
- 17:32famous celebrities in the room. You could imagine that there is
- 17:40a table filled with the most beautiful women on the planet
- 17:45staring at you, listening to your talk.
- 17:50And whether it's someone famous or beautiful, important or even
- 17:55someone looking bored or annoyed or angry, notice how none of it
- 18:01fazes you. There's almost like a force
- 18:04field around you. Nothing effects you.
- 18:10You feel calm, comfortable. You could even imagine someone
- 18:17heckling you and it's like water off a duck's back.
- 18:26Nothing fazes you. I want you to get a sense that
- 18:32you're imagining exactly what you're saying and it feels
- 18:37effortless to say it. And I'm going to give you a
- 18:40window of time to just rewind and mentally rehearse doing it
- 18:45from beginning to end exactly how you would want to do it.
- 18:49And when you get to the end, just let me know by nodding your
- 18:53head. That's it.
- 19:28I want you to feel how comfortable that, felt that you
- 19:34were in your own body doing it exactly as you would want to do
- 19:38it. And it felt comfortable and calm
- 19:42and enjoyable and feel that speech is ending now.
- 19:48And I want you to see acknowledgements.
- 19:53That might be eye contact and a head nod, could be a thumbs up,
- 19:59could even be a smile or even a salute.
- 20:05People are communicating their appreciation for your talk, your
- 20:11speech, your toast, and all of it feels good.
- 20:18And then afterwards, just imagine a few.
- 20:22Significant people approaching you to acknowledge,
- 20:26congratulate, or compliment you on your talk, and all of it
- 20:32makes you feel very, very comfortable and allow these
- 20:39feelings to ripple into any other form of public
- 20:45communication. From this point forward, it
- 20:50doesn't matter if it's a social gathering or a serious
- 20:55presentation, doesn't matter if it's a lecture or a pitch.
- 21:04Just allow that feeling of comfort to ripple into all of
- 21:08these other areas. It doesn't matter where you are,
- 21:15what you're saying, or who you're saying it to.
- 21:19Allow this feeling of comfort to be the dominant emotion that
- 21:25comes to mind when you're in a situation like that.
- 21:30I don't want you to think of one thing in the future that you
- 21:36always wanted to do but thought was outside of your comfort
- 21:41zone. And just imagine that you're in
- 21:47the audience, seeing that version of you do that thing
- 21:53that once felt unattainable and now feels within reach.
- 22:02And if you could imagine seeing yourself confidently and
- 22:05comfortable doing that new thing, let me know by nodding
- 22:10your head. That's it.
- 22:15It's time to leave this imaginary event and find
- 22:20yourself walking in that rhythm, realizing that all of this was a
- 22:29thought within a thought, an idea within an idea, a dream
- 22:34within a dream. And even walking in this perfect
- 22:39place itself is just your imagination.
- 22:45So it's time to leave that imagination and return to the
- 22:49here and now, knowing that you have activated and primed your
- 22:54mind to feel calm, confident and comfortable Whenever you're
- 23:01talking to people and they are evaluating you, you feel relaxed
- 23:07in that situation. It's time to return to the
- 23:12present with all of these changes coming back with you.
- 23:14So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 23:19nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 23:24wiggle your toes. Start to connect and calibrate
- 23:26into the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 23:33awaken you. Starting to count 123, waking up
- 23:39456, more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 23:44Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
- 23:50Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
