- 0:00They don't need to start from zero, they can have this add on
- 0:04in order to strengthen brand positioning, communicate to
- 0:08shoppers and attract shoppers on their website while also
- 0:11offering confidence in the purchase.
- 0:25Hello, welcome back to another fireless fantastic edition of
- 0:29the Retail podcast. Now, as many of our community
- 0:32listeners know that I am the number one person when it comes
- 0:36to promoting fantastic talent OR when we see something that
- 0:40potentially is in the early startup phase, we need to be
- 0:44shouting about it because it's pretty much what we see the
- 0:47future of retail being. And I like to introduce Antonio
- 0:50Dimitri, who I probably butchered her surname, but
- 0:53that's OK. It's see.
- 0:56But Antonia, we, we've got just now talking before we start
- 1:00recording. We've got some contacts are in
- 1:02common. But when I heard what she was
- 1:04doing and the problem that she's trying to solve, I thought this
- 1:08is really interesting given the eugenic and AI world that we're
- 1:11moving into, but more importantly, the human world
- 1:14that we're moving into and how retailers need to keep meeting
- 1:19their customers where they are. And so and Antonia, lovely to
- 1:23meet you. Thank you for coming on the
- 1:24show. Thank you.
- 1:25Thank you so much, Alex. It's a pleasure to meet you.
- 1:28And so let me let's take a step back.
- 1:31What made you decide to start a company Up before we get into
- 1:35what the company is, what what what drove you to start the
- 1:39company? Thank you so much for the
- 1:40question, so I can introduce myself a bit.
- 1:44I started working as a stylist because since 16 years old I did
- 1:48editorials for magazines like Photo, Vogue, Italy.
- 1:52I created my own team in Romania and and I also decided to study
- 1:57fashion styling and creative direction at Marangoni in Milan.
- 2:00But before that, while I was still in high school, I was
- 2:04working as a personal stylist and I observed how time
- 2:08consuming and expensive it is, especially for women to find
- 2:12what suits them best. And I thought of a way to make
- 2:15the process really accessible to everyone and to make it
- 2:18automatically. And this is how it started.
- 2:21So from my personal needs to automate a long process which I
- 2:25I found really really difficult. How?
- 2:28I'm just curious because obviously you come from the
- 2:30fashion world, how does, what's the how does AI fit into this
- 2:34new world of fashion? What's your general perception
- 2:37there? When we started developing this,
- 2:39of course, the AI was emerging. Actually there was an open AI or
- 2:46all of these waves. So for us, machine learning,
- 2:50computer vision models were the only way to build this kind of
- 2:55process in order to transform automatically the garments to
- 2:59enable the virtual try on the virtual styling.
- 3:02So this was the only way to make it accessible to brands.
- 3:07And then of course, with with the pandemic, all the, all this
- 3:10wave came up and we were right into it.
- 3:14So This is why we developed our own proprietary technology
- 3:18because of the beginning. It was like really nothing.
- 3:21And I remember I was searching on Google like specific terms
- 3:26like conscious shopping, and I couldn't find anything.
- 3:30It was really emerging. So regarding the AI wave, this
- 3:34is what I can, what I can tell for us and for the innovation,
- 3:38it's a necessity and we need to find a real problem and solve
- 3:43it, not the other way around. So invent the problem in order
- 3:46to use AI and then try to sell it.
- 3:48This is my perspective. I got you.
- 3:50So why don't we get into like who is theatre is and tell me
- 3:54what? What's it all about?
- 3:55Yes, thank you. We offer online fashion brands a
- 3:59plug in a virtual personal shopper so shoppers can either
- 4:03customise A preset avatar for privacy concerts or upload a
- 4:07photo based on the way they look.
- 4:10We detect the right size based on brand size chart, the body
- 4:14shape they have and also the right colour palette.
- 4:18We automatically select the best clothing items and to boost
- 4:22confidence in their purchase, we also enable visualisations on
- 4:27themselves. So what we are aiming to do is
- 4:30to help specialist small brands increase their conversions.
- 4:35For small brands, we've already doubled the conversion rate
- 4:39while reducing returns up to 30%.
- 4:43And besides all that, of course, enhancing the customer
- 4:46experience and bringing personalization is a key factor
- 4:50in in our industry where of course, we have too many options
- 4:54nowadays. So brands do need to find a
- 4:57competitive advantage. We have also the solution
- 5:01deployed in the Middle East where we developed also a
- 5:05privacy concern solution where shoppers can easily customise
- 5:10their preset avatar without the need to upload their photos and
- 5:15in order to create the Omni channel experience, which is
- 5:18another keyword. Nowadays, our technology can be
- 5:22applied also in store where shoppers can mix and various
- 5:26items before going to fitting room or before buying.
- 5:31When we go into stores, we want to make sure that we get
- 5:35something special because we are busy, we can shop easily online,
- 5:40so This is why we truly need to create an experience in Store I.
- 5:45Love it. I mean, there's some the first
- 5:47thing I want to do is try it. I want to get a photo of myself
- 5:50and see what that looks like because it does.
- 5:53It feels to me as someone who loves, I love fashion, but
- 5:57potentially, you know, I don't have the time and energy to go
- 6:00to so many places and try so many things on.
- 6:03It feels that you're solving unique problem as I don't know
- 6:07how long you've had this deployed, but what's the sort of
- 6:12feedback? What's the original feedback
- 6:14that you're getting from your customers?
- 6:16The feedback is absolutely amazing.
- 6:19They true they really love this tool, but we are investing in
- 6:24educating also the brands because we need to have a common
- 6:29ground. We offer this tool that helps
- 6:32them get more traffic into their website.
- 6:35They can use it is in ads in order to attract more shoppers
- 6:39to their websites. But at the same time, brands do
- 6:43need to push a lot and enhance their communication, which means
- 6:48send personalised newsletters, communicate that they launch
- 6:52this tool. So we attract people and educate
- 6:56not only brands but also shoppers in how to use it and
- 7:00what exactly it does. So this is something really
- 7:04important and if we reunite the forces, of course we will see
- 7:08very good reports, which means again, doubling conversion
- 7:12rates, reducing returns, but we really need to invest into
- 7:16educating both shoppers and brands.
- 7:19What? Do you feel that brand managers
- 7:21or e-commerce managers are getting wrong?
- 7:23Then what do they get wrong? What do they not like?
- 7:25Because this seems like such a no brainer.
- 7:28People should be like hey phoning you like 24 hours we
- 7:32want this for our website so why are they not doing it?
- 7:34What's the bad? I can give you an example from
- 7:38real life, especially small and emerging designers don't know
- 7:42how to promote their online businesses.
- 7:45And the thing that maybe they should invest the beginning to
- 7:49strengthen their brand positioning, really be well
- 7:52known in the market and then get this kind of tools.
- 7:56But what I tell them is they don't need to start from zero
- 8:00from scratch. They can have this add on in
- 8:03order to strengthen brand, communicate to shoppers and
- 8:08attract shoppers on their website while also offering
- 8:11confidence in the purchase. So I think the mentality of how
- 8:15to use it because it's a technology that's really at the
- 8:18emerging needs to be improved. Of course, brands do have
- 8:22collaborations with influencers, so they can encourage right them
- 8:27to try this tool, share it on Instagram so they engage with
- 8:31with their community. And this is how you create,
- 8:34let's say, the effect of being viral.
- 8:37It's something at the beginning and it's nothing wrong.
- 8:40We just need to educate, communicate and let's say
- 8:43transmit best practises. I understand.
- 8:46And what does that look like in terms of integration?
- 8:49How difficult is it to integrate your technology into my
- 8:52ecommerce stack? It is really easy.
- 8:55We are partners with the Shopify, WooCommerce.
- 8:59So for brands that use these platforms, it takes around 1
- 9:03minutes to install and that's it.
- 9:05From their side, we automatically process their
- 9:08items, their designs and that's it.
- 9:10So the onboarding is really simple.
- 9:12Of course, for enterprises and custom, let's say websites, we
- 9:17do integrate with API. We don't need any physical
- 9:20samples, just their product feeds.
- 9:22So is that simple? OK, final question.
- 9:25When you as someone who works in the AI field and and within
- 9:29fashion, how do you see the future of fashion and AI?
- 9:32What, what is that future shopping experience?
- 9:35What does it look like? Definitely personalization,
- 9:38sustainability and Omni channel experiences.
- 9:42So these are some keywords that really come to my mind when I
- 9:45think of the future of fashion. But it's already happening.
- 9:49And of course, until we'll see mass adoption of new
- 9:53technologies, we need to start with early adopters and
- 9:57implement this kind of technologies with brands that
- 10:00have an online with this strategy.
- 10:03And on the digital strategy, we see many, many brands that are
- 10:06investing in physical stores, being present in malls and so
- 10:11on. But many times there are
- 10:13skipping the online part, which is, which is really important.
- 10:16So it's a matter of time and it will constant, it will be
- 10:20improved I think very fast. Sure, I got you.
- 10:23I know I said That was the fun question, but this is, I
- 10:25promise, the final question. What's the one?
- 10:27Because I'm not an expert in this area, What's the one
- 10:29question that people ask you that I haven't asked you?
- 10:33The one question. Oh my God, the most popular
- 10:35question? That's a difficult one.
- 10:38OK, that means about you'll be important questions.
- 10:41So it's OK, you're enough to have an answer, but it's just if
- 10:43there's the if there is a is if there's normally I ask the
- 10:46question if there's an area or something that maybe I've
- 10:49overlooked because my understanding isn't, you know,
- 10:52as deep in fashion or AI, but then you know.
- 10:55I think what's our target market would be a good target market
- 11:00and which we tried the the mass market to integrate at the
- 11:05beginning and from what we've observed until now is not Europe
- 11:09is the Middle East because they are really looking for emerging
- 11:13technologies, new experiences. The luxury in the street there
- 11:18is huge. Of course, they have large
- 11:21retail groups with thousands or hundreds, thousands of brands.
- 11:26So they are really looking into differentiating themselves.
- 11:29And until now, yeah, a lot of traction of a lot of our
- 11:33traction is from the Middle East and but we are also integrating
- 11:37in in Europe. But this is something very
- 11:39interesting that that I observed.
- 11:41That's fantastic. Antonio.
- 11:42Thank you so much for giving up your time and maybe I see you at
- 11:46one of the many conferences that I'm at throughout the year.
- 11:49Thank. You 100%.
- 11:51Thank you so much, Alex for your time and further questions.
