- 0:02Speaker 1: podcast for millennials who want financial freedom.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I'm traveling for.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Everybody else to.
- 0:07Speaker 4: Oh, it is just a really catchy tagline.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Well you've written a mate. Remember whatever you write on
- 0:13Speaker 1: the teleprompter. Trav Roebuck will say, I am travel.
- 0:18Speaker 3: Is really pretty.
- 0:19Speaker 5: Yeah, why don't you.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Say that, Trav Mitch Churry is really pretty? She put
- 0:24Speaker 2: a mark on the end of it.
- 0:26Speaker 5: I don't say I wouldn't say I'm pretty, would you, Victoria?
- 0:28Speaker 4: I had more say I think you're handsome's handsome stuff?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Thank you pretty though.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Like you have nice hair, like you know how some
- 0:35Speaker 4: people they're like, oh they're just like rugged handsome, like
- 0:38Speaker 4: like you've got soft hair, like you clearly care about it.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Yeah, you know how some people sweat and it's hot
- 0:43Speaker 5: when I sweat. It's discussing.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We don't have to list.
- 0:47Speaker 2: You've got a lovely glow about you.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Victoria, exactly make me so nervous. Let's move on.
- 0:52Speaker 1: You know, if we were in a relationship, we probably
- 0:55Speaker 1: wouldn't need to start talking about it wouldn't be though.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I know, but how much money I'm trying to do?
- 1:00Speaker 1: What we call.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds good.
- 1:02Speaker 5: Guys would be ale.
- 1:04Speaker 1: When do we start talking about how much money we
- 1:06Speaker 1: have and what we want.
- 1:07Speaker 2: To do with it if we're a thrupple.
- 1:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:09Speaker 5: That's tough.
- 1:11Speaker 4: That's Mitch's job. Your job is to make me cups
- 1:13Speaker 4: of tea and bring me my wheat pack.
- 1:15Speaker 3: And Mitch, what's my job? I order the Uber eats.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Yes, I'm not even joking.
- 1:20Speaker 4: Guy.
- 1:21Speaker 5: I wasn't going to say anything, but just as as
- 1:24Speaker 5: we were recording, I might ordered. I ordered gozamet.
- 1:28Speaker 4: Oh, some cheeky morning Mexican.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And exception has an exception that is so damned selfish
- 1:34Speaker 1: of you, mate, because the studio is not going to
- 1:36Speaker 1: be inhabitable Mate in a couple of hours thanks to you.
- 1:38Speaker 3: You're kind of food, Mitch.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Why is that? Why is it not inhabitable?
- 1:41Speaker 2: Mexican? And Mitch, cherry does not equal pleasant smell.
- 1:44Speaker 4: And also just low key. Do you remember Trev being
- 1:47Speaker 4: asked if you'd like some Mexican?
- 1:50Speaker 3: I don't remember being offered.
- 1:52Speaker 1: That silence was me trying to remember and know the
- 1:54Speaker 1: answer is Mexic.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Check your phones. I text you while I was in
- 1:58Speaker 5: the bathroom.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Let's still about this radio show. How did it go
- 2:02Speaker 3: this week?
- 2:03Speaker 5: I thought it was a great show. We did more
- 2:05Speaker 5: marketplace fines. What deal did you get? A marketplace all
- 2:08Speaker 5: stem from the fact that I'm a marketplace genius and
- 2:11Speaker 5: we got an interesting one to have Richard called through
- 2:14Speaker 5: and he got a deal which I actually think we
- 2:16Speaker 5: should have.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Never honestly, I want to fact check that. Rich Sorry,
- 2:20Speaker 4: if you're listening, how does anybody spend eight thousand dollars
- 2:23Speaker 4: on one reclined.
- 2:24Speaker 5: I'm going to google it time you wake it.
- 2:26Speaker 4: No, maybe it's like designer from like King Living or something.
- 2:29Speaker 5: And he claims what did he claim? He got four
- 2:31Speaker 5: thousand dollars chairs? Two of them?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Two of them?
- 2:34Speaker 6: No?
- 2:34Speaker 3: When they eight grandeep?
- 2:35Speaker 1: No? No, no, two for eight grand and he pays
- 2:38Speaker 1: eight hundred dollars for them.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Hold on a lazy Boy online. I've just checked it
- 2:42Speaker 5: can go for two nine nine.
- 2:45Speaker 2: And what about the chair version, Mitch, you're just looking
- 2:49Speaker 2: feet Well.
- 2:50Speaker 4: We're renovating at the moment, and it's making me really
- 2:54Speaker 4: requestion the furniture that's in my house.
- 2:56Speaker 2: What does the ghost think about your house?
- 2:58Speaker 7: Oh?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Look, I don't know the ghost, you know, how she's
- 3:01Speaker 4: turning off and on the kitchen lights at the moment.
- 3:03Speaker 5: She how do you know it's a she?
- 3:06Speaker 4: Oh, this makes me sound crazy because I heard her voice.
- 3:09Speaker 4: I'm convinced she talks to me. What But it's okay,
- 3:13Speaker 4: it's all right. But it's making me requestion all of
- 3:15Speaker 4: my furniture in my house right because the furniture in
- 3:18Speaker 4: my house is like from when I was at Uni.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I just haven't updated it.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Like I have these chairs that I actually did buy
- 3:25Speaker 4: on Facebook market Place no gum Tree. Sorry, well the
- 3:28Speaker 4: one gum Tree ages ago, and I think it was
- 3:30Speaker 4: like six of.
- 3:31Speaker 3: Them for like one hundred dollars or something. They were
- 3:33Speaker 3: getting rid of them.
- 3:33Speaker 4: They weren't good to begin with, and now they're like
- 3:35Speaker 4: real terrible. But I'm looking at buying new ones. What
- 3:39Speaker 4: do you mean eight hundred dollars a chair for something
- 3:41Speaker 4: that's reasonably looking? Like, I just don't understand why things
- 3:44Speaker 4: are so expensive.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And you're worried now that the ghost is going to
- 3:48Speaker 1: judge your furniture. But the good thing is she's turning
- 3:50Speaker 1: off your life.
- 3:51Speaker 4: No, I'm worried that I'm going to build a new
- 3:53Speaker 4: kitchen and then have ugly furniture in the house.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Honestly, that's all right.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Well, you know what, we are going to save you
- 4:00Speaker 1: some cash so you can put towards some beautiful furniture
- 4:03Speaker 1: for your brand new house.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Your tips are amazing.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I'm working on a Saturday.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, let's get straight into the radio show to find
- 4:10Speaker 1: out exactly how you can do it. It's She's on the
- 4:12Speaker 1: Money radio show right now.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Enjoy it radio.
- 4:18Speaker 2: She's on the Money Radio show.
- 4:22Speaker 5: With Victoria Divine.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Starts see Saturday morning right across the country. She's on
- 4:27Speaker 1: the Money Radio Show with Australia's number one finance podcaster
- 4:30Speaker 1: Victoria Divine and Mixtury as well.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Guys, we are.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Doing all thanks to Budget Direct, winner of Can Stars
- 4:36Speaker 1: Insurer of the Year Award twenty twenty two Budget Direct
- 4:40Speaker 1: Insurance Soul See.
- 4:43Speaker 3: It's a good tagline.
- 4:45Speaker 5: It's a great tag Li's.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Like a mystery tagline like crime podcasting really in so
- 4:50Speaker 4: like maybe they're playing off on that.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Have you seen their ads? They're like little detective dude.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Oh my god. That ads are like a little little
- 4:56Speaker 5: movie that.
- 4:56Speaker 4: Really would That's why we're working with them.
- 4:59Speaker 5: We love your budget Direct.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Now, speaking of TV, obviously you're a huge Kimmy Kay
- 5:04Speaker 1: and Pete Davison fan, Victoria, But.
- 5:06Speaker 3: What about me made that obvious?
- 5:08Speaker 1: Well, the fact that you always watch every reality show
- 5:12Speaker 1: under the sun as we and I only ever.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Wear skims and easy.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Well, that Chanel bag that you've got next to you,
- 5:17Speaker 5: that's very kardashi down, sir.
- 5:19Speaker 4: We are trying to be relatable. That was a splurch
- 5:24Speaker 4: that I still feel good.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Itself moment, and you've deserved it.
- 5:26Speaker 1: But I'm thinking, okay, because obviously Kim kardashily and got
- 5:29Speaker 1: a heap of money. Pete Davidson got his own money
- 5:31Speaker 1: as well. But when is that perfect time? And how
- 5:34Speaker 1: do you start bringing up money with a brand new partner?
- 5:37Speaker 4: Is Kim k really the one that we have this
- 5:39Speaker 4: conversation about, Like that is so unrelatable?
- 5:41Speaker 5: She's a billionaire, do you reckon?
- 5:43Speaker 4: They get to check out at like the supermarket on
- 5:45Speaker 4: a Thursday evening, They're like, oh, we'll cook this for
- 5:47Speaker 4: dinner when we get home, and then they like argue
- 5:48Speaker 4: with their cards like every other mormal.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Oh it's a kind sorry, it's fine.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Billions. On the other line, I.
- 5:54Speaker 4: Didn't transfer any cash over Oh no, sorry, but that's different, right,
- 5:59Speaker 4: Their level of wealth is so significantly different.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But it is kind of awkward talking about money if
- 6:03Speaker 3: you're in a.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Couple or you're like dating somebody new, because you can't
- 6:07Speaker 4: just put your hand up and be like, what do
- 6:08Speaker 4: you earn?
- 6:09Speaker 3: That's weird.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Could you do it on the first date?
- 6:11Speaker 6: Nah?
- 6:11Speaker 5: Now you could. I would do it on the first date.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Would you go?
- 6:13Speaker 3: How would you ask pitch?
- 6:15Speaker 5: It's a if you were making a good amount of money,
- 6:17Speaker 5: you would, But if you weren't making good money, you
- 6:18Speaker 5: wouldn't bring it up. That's the difference.
- 6:20Speaker 4: Yeah, But like, I just want to know what your
- 6:22Speaker 4: money story is and how it works, and I guess
- 6:24Speaker 4: that's what we'll get into today, right.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, And what kind of questions shouldn't you ask your
- 6:28Speaker 1: new partner?
- 6:29Speaker 4: Look, obviously I am, she's on the money and I
- 6:31Speaker 4: talk about this all the time. And I used to
- 6:34Speaker 4: be so awkward about money. Like when I met my partner,
- 6:37Speaker 4: I was in some pretty significant credit card debt and
- 6:40Speaker 4: personal debt because I was basically a genius. So it
- 6:43Speaker 4: got really awkward talking about money. But I think that
- 6:46Speaker 4: when you talk about it, we actually need to remove
- 6:48Speaker 4: ourselves from the here and now of what you earn
- 6:51Speaker 4: and what you're spending and actually just talk about like
- 6:53Speaker 4: money stories, which sounds a little bit fluffy, but I
- 6:57Speaker 4: promise it leans harder into fully.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Understand what's going on.
- 7:01Speaker 4: Right, Like, think about your mate who's always that stinge,
- 7:04Speaker 4: Like you know that guy, Yeah, but you go to
- 7:07Speaker 4: dumplings and they're like, well, actually I ate one less dumplings,
- 7:10Speaker 4: so iow fourteen dollars forty and else.
- 7:12Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, well poor Steve.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Anyway, that guy, let's like reframe it for a hot
- 7:19Speaker 4: second and go, well, maybe he's actually just frugal with
- 7:21Speaker 4: money because he grew up and he didn't have a
- 7:23Speaker 4: lot of it, and money makes him really anxious, and
- 7:25Speaker 4: he's actually just trying to, you know, deal with his
- 7:27Speaker 4: own anxieties around money.
- 7:29Speaker 3: That then makes you feel a bit of a mean person,
- 7:33Speaker 3: Thank you, mate.
- 7:34Speaker 2: So I think it's about sorry, Steve.
- 7:35Speaker 4: I think it's about understanding where you've come from, and like,
- 7:38Speaker 4: did you grow up talking about money, like not necessarily
- 7:41Speaker 4: asking what they earn or how much they should spend
- 7:43Speaker 4: on things, but rather hey, how did you speak about
- 7:46Speaker 4: money growing up? Well, if we're in a relationship, like
- 7:49Speaker 4: should we be fifty to fifty or should we be
- 7:51Speaker 4: splitting expenses based on what we earn? Like Trav obviously
- 7:54Speaker 4: earned so much more than I Joe. Yeah, so should
- 7:56Speaker 4: he be paying more of the bills? If we're in
- 7:58Speaker 4: a quote equitable relationship? And then we could try a
- 8:01Speaker 4: real big debate about equity versus equality in a relationship.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Yes, Itch Trap buys me a coffee before the show
- 8:05Speaker 5: every Saturday morning, So I don't know what's going on
- 8:07Speaker 5: with you, Victoria.
- 8:08Speaker 1: But no, But I think no matter what it is,
- 8:10Speaker 1: the most important thing that a lot of people don't
- 8:12Speaker 1: think about when they get into a relationship is just
- 8:15Speaker 1: being on the same page.
- 8:16Speaker 2: That's all it is.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I just.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Want to open honest conversation, Like you don't need to
- 8:20Speaker 4: dive into the first date and be like, all right,
- 8:23Speaker 4: well who's paying for this and that and how does
- 8:25Speaker 4: it all work? But I think that money can actually
- 8:27Speaker 4: be really empowering, Like at the end of the day,
- 8:30Speaker 4: flip it, think about your partner, like you have no
- 8:33Speaker 4: idea what your new partner's financial circumstances are, and by
- 8:37Speaker 4: just talking about it kind of takes the pressure off.
- 8:39Speaker 4: If we're going on dates, like do they always have
- 8:41Speaker 4: to be fancy or do you really like dates where
- 8:43Speaker 4: we described pizza and eat it on the couch watching
- 8:45Speaker 4: movies like oh yeah yeah, so easy to lean into
- 8:49Speaker 4: trying to impress your new flame really early, and like
- 8:52Speaker 4: they might not even like that.
- 8:54Speaker 1: They might like spending their time on Facebook Marketplace either selling.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, or buying.
- 9:00Speaker 5: And you're talking my language.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Yeah that's where you met your partner.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I was hoping you weren't going to say that you
- 9:05Speaker 1: bought your partner of Facebook Tinder guys, are you on facetbook?
- 9:15Speaker 2: You need second friends?
- 9:20Speaker 6: All right?
- 9:20Speaker 1: On thirteen one six y five, we want to know
- 9:22Speaker 1: what did you score on Facebook Marketplace and how much
- 9:25Speaker 1: did you save?
- 9:26Speaker 2: Mitch, what do you reckon? The best thing you've scored is.
- 9:27Speaker 5: Many a thing. I'll tell you what. If I could
- 9:29Speaker 5: order food on Facebook Marketplace and I could all get
- 9:31Speaker 5: petrol on Facebook Marketplace, I would never be off Facebook Marketplace.
- 9:34Speaker 5: But recently I bought a milkroffer. I was actually telling you, Victoria,
- 9:37Speaker 5: I think we're talking about, like, oh, what what's the
- 9:39Speaker 5: best milk froffit again? On the Smeg.
- 9:43Speaker 4: Meg milk crotherer and I really like it. But the
- 9:45Speaker 4: real question here is why is Mitch Jury trying to
- 9:48Speaker 4: buy a milk frotherer that he can quite clearly afford. Instead,
- 9:52Speaker 4: you want someone's dank second to hand one with dry
- 9:55Speaker 4: brown milk in the place.
- 9:58Speaker 5: It's character happened, It's not, it's this is not character.
- 10:01Speaker 5: It's dried congealed milk in the corner. And I said,
- 10:04Speaker 5: is this hused? Because I had to zoom in and
- 10:06Speaker 5: see that you barely barely.
- 10:08Speaker 4: No, you can clean that like mine is pristine. Just
- 10:11Speaker 4: so you know if you come over, you can borrow it,
- 10:13Speaker 4: give it.
- 10:14Speaker 5: A little trial next, think you.
- 10:15Speaker 4: But like for a dude who spent seventeen thousand dollars
- 10:18Speaker 4: last year three.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Every show we do, it's all I've got.
- 10:23Speaker 4: We could also bring up the fact that you were
- 10:24Speaker 4: the cash coock one time, which wow.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Yeah, Okayjo're gonna start talk about your poo habits again.
- 10:28Speaker 1: No, no, no, because we need to ask people on thirteen
- 10:30Speaker 1: one o six five, what have you scored on Facebook Marketplace?
- 10:33Speaker 1: And how much have you saved? Richard's called us mate,
- 10:36Speaker 1: what did you score?
- 10:36Speaker 7: Well?
- 10:37Speaker 6: I scored two Recliner cheers and saved myself a fortune, all.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Right, Joey And what's a recliner?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 10:43Speaker 6: They say, well, actually, I'm a therapist, so I use
- 10:46Speaker 6: it to counsel people so they kind of go back
- 10:48Speaker 6: and think about their mother or something like.
- 10:49Speaker 5: That as well.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Off, did you get an invoice like are you going
- 10:54Speaker 4: to claim it on tax as well?
- 10:56Speaker 6: Yeah, got an invoice that's also text seductible.
- 10:59Speaker 5: How much did you pay these two chairs? Richard?
- 11:01Speaker 6: So they were eight hundred dollars and they were as
- 11:04Speaker 6: new and they would have been eight thousand dollars.
- 11:05Speaker 2: What a grade for a chair? Wow?
- 11:08Speaker 4: Oh you know what I've seen that My nana is
- 11:10Speaker 4: totally into those. Lazy boy what about the chairs?
- 11:14Speaker 3: Absolutely raw?
- 11:15Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 11:16Speaker 1: Well yeah, all right, take it to your calls. Thirday
- 11:21Speaker 1: one A six five? What's the best bargain you've scored
- 11:23Speaker 1: on Facebook? Marketplace? Now? Z, you're a seller? What are
- 11:26Speaker 1: you selling?
- 11:27Speaker 2: So?
- 11:27Speaker 7: I sold a mobile phone on Marketplace?
- 11:31Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 11:31Speaker 3: Was it the iPhone six last week?
- 11:35Speaker 7: It was an iPhone eleven? And I made a profit
- 11:38Speaker 7: on it because I sold it for more than what
- 11:40Speaker 7: my payout was when I upgraded.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Oh yes, how did you work out the payout though?
- 11:47Speaker 6: Like?
- 11:47Speaker 4: Did you just calculate it and then chuck it on
- 11:49Speaker 4: Facebook Marketplace for more.
- 11:51Speaker 7: No, so I already had to pay my phone out
- 11:53Speaker 7: so I could upgrade, And then I had this spare
- 11:55Speaker 7: phone that I wasn't doing anything with, so I chucked
- 11:58Speaker 7: it on Marketplace for what it was worth in the
- 12:01Speaker 7: market at the time. And that was You know, you didn't.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Even stooge anyone. You are an angel, my friend.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Is it annoying? Fielding so many questions from people like, oh,
- 12:10Speaker 4: is it an iPhone? Can I have another photo of
- 12:12Speaker 4: your iPhone?
- 12:13Speaker 3: Because I feel like that's what they do.
- 12:15Speaker 7: I got to ask the things like can you send
- 12:16Speaker 7: me photos of what your battery health is? And does
- 12:20Speaker 7: the speaker on the phone work? And just really and
- 12:23Speaker 7: I had some scammers try and say I'm sending it
- 12:26Speaker 7: to my son that studying abroad.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Of course they.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Did you learn how to use the block button real quick?
- 12:33Speaker 3: Because I would have Oh.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Yeah, did you block a user by the name of
- 12:36Speaker 5: Mitch Cherry by any chance? Because I feel like I
- 12:39Speaker 5: probably would.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Have had also Hitch Murray as well.
- 12:43Speaker 5: Okay, thanks for the call. We got to end. Now
- 12:44Speaker 5: we're over to great to chat chat.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Hey, that was actually really fun.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Let's do more of that because I actually want to
- 12:51Speaker 4: hear more about people's blunders on Facebook marketplace. I also
- 12:54Speaker 4: really would like it if you guys blow up our
- 12:57Speaker 4: inbox with screenshots of terrible conversation you've had with people.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Yes, yes, perfect, and you.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Say yes and then they say thank you sir, like
- 13:05Speaker 4: I just want all of that.
- 13:07Speaker 5: Or Victoria. They could go, I've got this side and
- 13:08Speaker 5: I want to sell, but I don't have any experience. Mitch,
- 13:11Speaker 5: can you help me sid for maximum price? Yeah, and
- 13:16Speaker 5: I'll only take a fifty percent cut.
- 13:17Speaker 3: That's that is such a good win.
- 13:19Speaker 2: This is She's on the Money radio show. Guys, it
- 13:22Speaker 2: is time to do this.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Oh my god. The caller that we just had, we
- 13:27Speaker 5: should have asked if we could borrow I think it
- 13:28Speaker 5: was Richard his therapy chairs. Because this is kind of
- 13:31Speaker 5: like a little bit of therapy on the show.
- 13:32Speaker 1: We should get therapy chairs and get the microphones hanging down.
- 13:36Speaker 2: So we do it hanging down.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Bean bags, but they make too much noise, I'd.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Probably Yeah, not good for a radio show anyway.
- 13:43Speaker 3: Really get out of them.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:46Speaker 5: I've just spent the night in a bean bag one
- 13:48Speaker 5: night because I couldn't get out. I just had to
- 13:49Speaker 5: commit to it.
- 13:50Speaker 2: It's Finney.
- 13:51Speaker 1: You know, we all have our problems, just like Sophie,
- 13:53Speaker 1: who sent us a message Mitch.
- 13:55Speaker 5: Yeah, Sophie hit us up on this. She's on the
- 13:57Speaker 5: money Instagram and she needed advice from Victoria. So she's asked.
- 14:01Speaker 5: My dad passed away six months ago, and I've just
- 14:03Speaker 5: recently discovered that he's left me a much bigger inheritance
- 14:06Speaker 5: than i'd expected. How good? That's good?
- 14:08Speaker 6: All up?
- 14:09Speaker 5: It's almost a million dollars. A bit nervous about what
- 14:12Speaker 5: to do with it rightly? So there are always new
- 14:15Speaker 5: stories of people getting a massive sum of money and
- 14:18Speaker 5: wasting and I really want to be wise with this inheritance.
- 14:20Speaker 5: What do I need to do?
- 14:22Speaker 2: Victoria?
- 14:22Speaker 5: Hell lash?
- 14:23Speaker 4: Do you know how common it is to actually blow
- 14:25Speaker 4: all that cash when you get an inheritance on what though,
- 14:28Speaker 4: on what life like? It just adds up so quickly.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Like imagine me if I turned around and said he's
- 14:33Speaker 4: a million barks, you'd be like, sweet, I'm going to
- 14:35Speaker 4: buy myself a house. I'm going to buy any yah,
- 14:37Speaker 4: going to take my friends overseas, Like there's so many
- 14:40Speaker 4: things that easily easily get over a million dollars, even
- 14:43Speaker 4: though that sounds like an incomprehensible amount of money.
- 14:46Speaker 3: And I say that because, as you.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Guys know, more legit financial advisor like legit as you say,
- 14:52Speaker 4: I mean you can actually you can look me up
- 14:54Speaker 4: on the financial advisor register and they'll tell you I'm legit.
- 14:57Speaker 4: But that's actually what I specialize in. So I do
- 14:59Speaker 4: a lot of lump some investment and inheritance advice. And
- 15:02Speaker 4: the number one thing I would say is sit on it,
- 15:04Speaker 4: don't make any decision, don't make any purchase, just.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Wait, put it high insurance.
- 15:09Speaker 3: What are you talking about? High insurance?
- 15:12Speaker 5: High interest, babe, And that's why you're the money expert.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Insurance always recommended. But I would absolutely be sitting on
- 15:23Speaker 4: it and taking a really big deep breath and going,
- 15:25Speaker 4: what do I actually want to achieve? Because so many
- 15:28Speaker 4: of us would just see this as big flashing lights
- 15:31Speaker 4: and go, oh my gosh.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I can afford to buy a house.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Outright, money win. You no longer have a mortgage, But
- 15:37Speaker 4: do you know what you have to do? You still
- 15:39Speaker 4: have to go to work each and every single day
- 15:41Speaker 4: to put table and pay the bills and do all
- 15:43Speaker 4: of those things you have whilst alleviating the fact that
- 15:46Speaker 4: you now don't have to pay rent or a mortgage,
- 15:48Speaker 4: you still have to have money coming in. So we
- 15:51Speaker 4: need to be looking at alternative investments. Because if we
- 15:54Speaker 4: flipped this right and said, all right, instead of buying
- 15:56Speaker 4: a property with your million bucks, we are going to
- 15:59Speaker 4: invest that really safely, really securely, at an average rate
- 16:02Speaker 4: of return of about seven and a half percent, which
- 16:04Speaker 4: is pretty conservative. Right, Yeah, thirty years from now, you're
- 16:07Speaker 4: going to have nearly ten million dollars. Oh Jesus, with
- 16:10Speaker 4: that ten million dollars, do you know what we could do.
- 16:13Speaker 4: We could pay off a mortgage, We could pay our
- 16:15Speaker 4: rent forever and never be constrained financially. Whereas if we
- 16:19Speaker 4: make short term decisions like going and buying a house
- 16:21Speaker 4: outright cause we're like, oh, we don't want to pay interest,
- 16:23Speaker 4: we don't want to pay that mortgage you go, is
- 16:26Speaker 4: that actually putting you in the best possible position. So
- 16:28Speaker 4: we need to look at what that looks like holistically,
- 16:31Speaker 4: at the same time as being back to Victoria divine
- 16:34Speaker 4: fluffy mode, being really respectful of that money, Like your
- 16:38Speaker 4: dad he wants to be here, you want him to
- 16:41Speaker 4: be here. We would easily trade a million bucks to
- 16:43Speaker 4: get your dad back in a heartbeat. But this is
- 16:45Speaker 4: the next best thing, right, how do we honor that
- 16:48Speaker 4: and create the life that you deserve to live to
- 16:51Speaker 4: make sure he's still I guess living via legacy through you,
- 16:55Speaker 4: and I think that that's where we really need to
- 16:57Speaker 4: think about it. And it goes back to the advice
- 16:58Speaker 4: of just sit on it, don't make any rush decisions,
- 17:01Speaker 4: make a decision that works for you.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Welcome to the Church of Victoria, Divine Preacher, Baby. That
- 17:06Speaker 5: was good advice. Is their food and oh.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, but like bigger cups.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Bigger I mean I was in until you said you
- 17:15Speaker 1: were going to see But for those of us who
- 17:18Speaker 1: haven't inherited a million bucks, how about we do Super
- 17:21Speaker 1: Savior Saturday with Victoria. You can give us some sneaky
- 17:24Speaker 1: tips on how to keep more bucks in our bank account.
- 17:26Speaker 3: We can.
- 17:27Speaker 5: It's tax edition and of financial year, so last.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Week because I had too many tax tips, so hopefully
- 17:33Speaker 4: I can get at least three out this day.

- 17:38Speaker 1: It's our favorite time of the week because it's time
- 17:40Speaker 1: for this Saturday tax edition.

- 18:07Speaker 3: All my tips are fun.
- 18:08Speaker 5: You're right, you're right, and give us a tip. Stump
- 18:10Speaker 5: me to tip number one.
- 18:11Speaker 3: All right.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Tax tip number one for this week is absolutely the
- 18:15Speaker 4: episome of twenty twenty one twenty twenty two financial year,
- 18:19Speaker 4: and that is the government announced in February that COVID
- 18:23Speaker 4: nineteen testing expenses are now tax deductible for tests that
- 18:26Speaker 4: are required for you.
- 18:27Speaker 3: To go to work.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Good like rats, yeah, rats, rats a tip I can
- 18:32Speaker 5: get around Victoria.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Exactly and the next obviously very twenty twenty one cost
- 18:37Speaker 4: edition tax tips home and office expenses. So if you're
- 18:41Speaker 4: working from home, which is ninety nine point ninety five
- 18:43Speaker 4: percent of us, you can actually claim some of the
- 18:46Speaker 4: office expenses that you incurred, like internet and your electricity
- 18:50Speaker 4: and the heating because like through winter and we're all
- 18:53Speaker 4: in iso at home trying to keep warm. At least
- 18:55Speaker 4: you're going to get some of that back.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You'd so be an uti kind of girl with the
- 18:58Speaker 2: heater craked up.
- 18:59Speaker 4: I'm not alady kind of goal. Do you know what
- 19:01Speaker 4: type of galley am though? The electric throw blanket?
- 19:04Speaker 2: Oh yeah, get it?
- 19:08Speaker 5: I love it.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I don't want to have to redo my heat. Weat
- 19:11Speaker 4: packing the microwave for three minutes every hour.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Let's be honest. Steve does that your partner?
- 19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, chop, chop back to it.
- 19:16Speaker 4: The other one is work clothing, So if you've had
- 19:19Speaker 4: to buy repair, higher purchase, foot beare, whatever it is
- 19:23Speaker 4: for your job that is related to your uniform, you
- 19:26Speaker 4: could very well claim that.
- 19:27Speaker 3: And then also just being a little bit selfless.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Is it selfless when you claim your charitable donations?
- 19:34Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 19:34Speaker 2: Facts, that's a dog act.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean you can do it anything about two dollars.
- 19:38Speaker 4: You can actually pop on your tax return and get
- 19:41Speaker 4: a cheeky little cash back. But I'm like, what kind
- 19:43Speaker 4: of person gives money away to then claim it.
- 19:45Speaker 3: On tax now?
- 19:46Speaker 5: Because the money all still goes to the charity. The
- 19:48Speaker 5: charity don't give any of it back. It's just the government.
- 19:50Speaker 4: That's okay, we will take the government's money. Then. Also,
- 19:53Speaker 4: day everything that just showing everybody that I'm like, not
- 19:55Speaker 4: rich rich, because if you're rich, Riach, you do make
- 19:58Speaker 4: taxable deductions and like donation in line with tax and
- 20:01Speaker 4: I'm like, I'm not there yet.
- 20:02Speaker 3: I made like five dollars to the Salvos.
- 20:04Speaker 1: I don't know about you, Mitch, but I thought it
- 20:06Speaker 1: was going to be super boring tax stuff.
- 20:08Speaker 2: But this is stuff I would actually use.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Can you please let me get back into it though. Also,
- 20:12Speaker 4: if you're a landlord and you do like home improvements
- 20:15Speaker 4: and stuff, do you know what is categorized according to
- 20:17Speaker 4: the ATO as a home improvement? Yeah, putting a gnome
- 20:20Speaker 4: in the front garden.
