- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:42Hi, it's Adam here. And on today's episode of The
- 0:45Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:49on the theme of self love, self acceptance, but mainly.
- 0:54This ability to. Reframe the past where perhaps
- 1:00in the past you were either taught or conditioned to not
- 1:07have a positive self-image or even like yourself.
- 1:12And I was working with a client that had a very harsh father,
- 1:17and the father probably had their own traumas in their
- 1:21upbringing. And you tend to have these kind
- 1:23of cycles that repeat over generations.
- 1:26But it meant as a child, the client that I was working with
- 1:29was very harshly treated, criticized a lot, couldn't do
- 1:34anything right. And that became a voice that
- 1:38then became in their own head. So they would be very self
- 1:41critical and very harsh in themselves and beat themselves
- 1:44up because that's what they had experienced as a child
- 1:47throughout most of their childhood.
- 1:50This particular client had a specific time in their life
- 1:53where they were working in the ski resort that they felt full
- 1:57of self acceptance. They they liked who they were,
- 1:59what they were doing, how they were doing it, and the self
- 2:02esteem was very high. So this uses an element of
- 2:06regression to reactivate those elements of self esteem and a
- 2:12form of inner child work or stage disassociation.
- 2:16So they get to see how their father treated them and what
- 2:19they would do different. Now with that high self esteem
- 2:23and high self-image and high self worth and realizing that
- 2:26they could still establish high standards, which is normally the
- 2:32underlying intention of being critical, is to have high
- 2:36standards, but from a place of love and kindness and
- 2:40encouragement rather than harsh criticism and beating someone
- 2:46down. And you'll hear that over three
- 2:49different themes of memories at different times in their life, a
- 2:52childhood memory, an adolescent memory, and a young adult
- 2:57memory. But what's interesting is the
- 2:58young adult memory was themselves being critical to
- 3:02themselves. And instead they get to be
- 3:05supportive and encouraging in the same thing.
- 3:08It's deliberately ambiguous because I wanted the client to
- 3:10re listen to the recording and choose different memories each
- 3:13time. So they could really have this
- 3:16element of what would it be like to have this positive self-image
- 3:21in high self worth and would it give them more of the life that
- 3:24they would actually want? Because you get this fascinating
- 3:27thing with low confidence and low self-image, and that is that
- 3:30it creates a self fulfilling prophecy because if you don't
- 3:33like yourself very much, you don't tend to treat yourself
- 3:36very well. And if you don't have
- 3:37confidence, you don't try things as much.
- 3:40And that can give you more evidence that you know your
- 3:42feelings about yourself are true.
- 3:44But this cycle can be broken and it can be broken by believing
- 3:48that actually what if your conditioning, your programming
- 3:52was false code? It was it was inappropriate
- 3:55belief systems that were never true.
- 3:57And if you treat yourself well and believe yourself to be
- 4:01worthy and good and capable and competent and act as if that's
- 4:05true, then you find the evidence to support it all along.
- 4:08So if you'd like to have a higher feeling of kind of
- 4:12confident self esteem or self worth and you might benefit from
- 4:15this session. Some of the references perhaps
- 4:17to father, son, relationship or the skiing element might not map
- 4:23across to you because it was created for a specific client.
- 4:26Ignore what's irrelevant, focus on what's relevant for you.
- 4:30Like anything I I, I consider hypnosis like a large buffet.
- 4:34Take the bits you like and leave anything behind that you don't
- 4:37like. But at the same time, if you do
- 4:39want something which is crafted and created.
- 4:42Specifically for you. There will be a link in the show
- 4:44notes that you can either book a free consultation call with me
- 4:49or even actually just book a recording.
- 4:52It's a lower rate to book a recording and you just send me
- 4:54all your notes and I create a recording.
- 4:57Most of my clients actually, they're working with me live and
- 5:00the recording is what was recorded from a real interactive
- 5:04session. But the other option is
- 5:06available too. So bear that in mind.
- 5:10But for now, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 5:12won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:49Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 5:59slow, long, resourceful breath of relaxation.
- 6:05And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense of release that
- 6:15you're able to let go, to release any tension, any
- 6:23worries, and just allow it to leave your body in your outward
- 6:29breath, breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension, enabling
- 6:41you to feel deeper and deeper, relaxed.
- 6:55I want to use the power of your imagination to imagine the snow
- 7:02globe of those little ornaments, the kind of snow globe that when
- 7:11you shake, it looks like snow is falling.
- 7:17I want you to imagine that in that snow globe are things that
- 7:28are familiar from a particular time in your life.
- 7:34Maybe a mountain shape that you recognize, maybe a resort or a
- 7:42ski shop or something else. Imagine it all in the snow globe
- 7:50and just imagine shaking that snow globe.
- 7:54And as the snow settles, imagine what it would be like to become
- 8:03someone inside the snow globe. And I want you to imagine
- 8:13observing yourself at a particular age A.
- 8:19Particular age. Where your definition of being
- 8:25good enough was matched. See that version of you with sky
- 8:31high confidence, insatiable self esteem as you realise that that
- 8:42version of you at that time in your life when you compared your
- 8:48ideal self with your current self, they were one and the
- 8:53same. So you already know what it
- 8:57feels like to have high confidence, high self worth and
- 9:05a self-image that is brimming with confidence.
- 9:09And perhaps you can remember a particular moment that
- 9:17exemplifies and represents the essence of that feeling.
- 9:23And when you can witness that memory, let me know by nodding
- 9:29your head. And then step into that version
- 9:34of you remembering what it was like to feel.
- 9:43But when you looked at yourself in the mirror, you loved who you
- 9:48saw. That version of you wouldn't
- 9:54have wanted to be anyone else. That version of you made
- 10:01evaluations that showed you in your most positive light, and
- 10:12notice how your life at that time reflected those
- 10:16evaluations. You held yourself in high esteem
- 10:23and people around you acted accordingly.
- 10:28You already know what it feels like to accept yourself like
- 10:34yourself and to admire who you see.
- 10:40When you look in the mirror, feel that you are awakening that
- 10:48part as you can. Recall that when you felt that
- 10:53good, the harsh criticism wasn't there, aggressive moodiness, low
- 11:06self esteem was absent. I want you to get a sense that
- 11:12you are at your best when you see yourself as you really are.
- 11:24When you make evaluations that you're competent, able, in the
- 11:33right place at the right time. None of those things seem to be
- 11:38there and therefore you have evidence that you are at your
- 11:45best not when you're harsh with yourself, but when you're kind,
- 11:51loving, and accepting of yourself.
- 11:58Feel that you are awakening all of those feelings of high
- 12:03confidence, high self esteem, high self worth and find a full
- 12:10length mirror and feel all of those things within you when you
- 12:16look back and see yourself at your current age.
- 12:22Maybe even hear yourself with your own dialogue.
- 12:27Damn, I look great and know that it is true.
- 12:33And the more you think about it, the truer it becomes.
- 12:39How many people of your age can do what you can do?
- 12:43You get a sense that you're successful, athletic, smart,
- 12:49kind, caring, full of self-awareness, a loving person.
- 13:04I want you to get a sense that this mirror is not just a
- 13:09mirror, but a portal into the past.
- 13:14And imagine stepping through into that mirror with all of
- 13:18that confidence and self esteem and seeing yourself as a 10 year
- 13:25old boy helping your father. I want you to see a boy that
- 13:33just wanted to help, wanted to do the right thing.
- 13:40And I want you to witness as that boy was harshly criticized,
- 13:47yelled at, not maliciously, but it just came from someone that
- 13:54had never resolved their own issues.
- 13:56And I want you to see that boy wounded, emotionally wounded,
- 14:02hurt. And then just imagine, the
- 14:12father goes away and you become a father to that boy.
- 14:21Give that boy a hug. Tell them that you did nothing
- 14:26wrong. Tell them that they are good,
- 14:34they are worthy, they are kind. And I want you to imagine
- 14:42continuing to work, perhaps on that thing, but doing it in an
- 14:51encouraging, supportive, loving way that if a mistake gets made,
- 14:59it's understood, accepted, acknowledged, the mistake gets
- 15:08made, it happens, no big deal. Let's try again.
- 15:15Give yourself the encouragement, acceptance, and support and love
- 15:21that you wanted back then because you deserve it.
- 15:30And see how that boy changes from that same situation.
- 15:37The same mistakes were made, but it was handled differently.
- 15:43Love, empathy, encouragement, not belittling, criticizing, and
- 15:50attacking. See how the encouragement can
- 15:57lead to even higher standards. Give that younger version of you
- 16:07words of encouragement. Tell them they are destined for
- 16:11great things and know that that is true.
- 16:19And then visit a different memory, perhaps your teenage
- 16:24years. Observe at how your father
- 16:31perhaps thought you weren't meeting high enough standards.
- 16:38Maybe there was mocking, maybe there was criticism trying to
- 16:46dent your ego. Your pride came from a good
- 16:51place. He wanted you to be your very
- 16:58best. But notice how you took it.
- 17:05Notice how that teenage version of you wanted to be aggressive,
- 17:12to punch, to lash out. Your father was training that
- 17:19dog inside you to be aggressive rather than well trained and
- 17:24loyal. As you see your father, leave
- 17:30that memory step in your current age but brimming with self
- 17:36worth, self-confidence, self esteem.
- 17:42Coach that younger version of you.
- 17:46Show them how to be better. Tell them they've got a gift for
- 17:55it, a knack for it. They're capable of doing better
- 18:03than they've ever done before. And notice how that unleashes
- 18:11more motivation, more hunger. You always wanted to make your
- 18:18father proud and he wanted to be proud.
- 18:27He just used the wrong vehicle. So imagine doing things the way
- 18:34you wanted it. Encouragement, support, belief.
- 18:44Tell that younger version of you how good looking you are, how
- 18:54kind you are, how strong you are, how athletic you are.
- 19:00Tell that younger version of you all the things you wanted to
- 19:04believe and deep down secretly knew were true.
- 19:13Give yourself a hug and tell that younger version of you that
- 19:20you will be unstoppable. Say goodbye and.
- 19:27Then go forward. To one final memory, perhaps in
- 19:34the aftermath of a relationship not working out for whatever
- 19:40reason. But I want you to see yourself
- 19:46being harshly critical with yourself, either saying out loud
- 19:52or thinking not smart enough, not successful enough, not good
- 19:57enough, not good looking enough. But when you see that version of
- 20:05you really emotionally beating yourself, sneak up and surprise
- 20:15them. The kind of surprise that makes
- 20:18people jump out of their skin. Shock them and then say I know
- 20:26what you're doing and none of it's true.
- 20:33I want you to tell that young adult version of you exactly
- 20:37what you were thinking and then break it down why none of it is
- 20:45true, and perhaps in many cases the exact opposite is true.
- 20:55Hear the words leaving your mouth.
- 20:58Tell that younger version of you that you are desirable, women
- 21:09want you. You are worthy of a
- 21:15relationship. You can have whatever you want,
- 21:23Tell that younger version of you the truth because it is, and see
- 21:31the posture change. That self loathing turns to self
- 21:38love. The self criticism turns to self
- 21:43acceptance. The harsh words turn to kind,
- 21:49encouraging words. Start to hear you're own in a
- 21:57dialogue. Notice how it changes some of
- 22:06those harsh words. Maybe even have profanities and
- 22:09just notice how they dissolve. No big deal, who cares, I'll
- 22:17find someone better and notice. When it's kind and loving and
- 22:23full of confidence. You feel better and that gives
- 22:30you a spring in your step and that leads to chance encounters
- 22:36and conversations, which in turn gives you more experiences that
- 22:42prove that you were right all along.
- 22:45You are worthy. You are good enough.
- 22:51You are 100% the person you want to be and imagine being that age
- 23:05again and realizing how much strength you have, how much
- 23:11energy you have, how much passion for life you have.
- 23:17You would do anything to be that age again, and you wouldn't be
- 23:21harsh to yourself. You would make the most of being
- 23:25that age. And just as you will never be
- 23:29that age again, you will never be your age right now again.
- 23:36Wouldn't it be a shame to realize that you were wrong 29
- 23:40years in the future without the ability to go back and change
- 23:45it? The ancient Chinese had a
- 23:51proverb the best time to plant a tree is 10 years ago, and the
- 23:58second best time is right now. The best time to make a change
- 24:06would have been back then, but the next best time is right now.
- 24:15And if your unconscious is willing to make that change, to
- 24:21like yourself, accept yourself, to be kind to yourself, let me
- 24:27know about nodding your head. So as you step backwards through
- 24:34that mirror, back in that snow globe world, feel that all of
- 24:41those changes from the past and rippled all the way to the
- 24:43present. As you look at yourself in that
- 24:47full length mirror, you see someone awesome, worthy, worthy
- 24:57of everything you deserve and more knowing it's true.
- 25:05In fact, you can't look at yourself without liking what you
- 25:08see because there's too many good qualities to connect to it.
- 25:16And this is the version that you will bring back the here and
- 25:20now. And over the next few days and
- 25:24weeks, don't be surprised when you catch a glimpse of yourself
- 25:29in a reflection in a mirror or glass window.
- 25:35Increasingly, you will like, admire, respect and love who you
- 25:40see reflecting back and that will give you even more
- 25:45confidence that will lead to even more good things happening.
- 25:54It's time to leave the snow globe world.
- 25:56So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 26:01nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 26:04wiggle your toes. Start to calibrate with the here
- 26:07and now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you, and you
- 26:12will awaken feeling that the best way of giving a gift to
- 26:19yourself is not with criticism, it's with kindness.
- 26:27Starting to count 123 Waking up 456.
- 26:31More alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 26:35Open your eyes. 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 26:40awake. Thank you for listening to The
