- 0:58SPEAKER_01: I'm your host, Steph.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Now let's jump in.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to Loop Way Podcast.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: I have not done a solo in a while, and so I thought, my gosh, there's been so much going on.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: I also have some new listeners here that maybe it's a good job to do a solo.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: First of all, I just want to thank everybody who has been such a big supporter of my podcast.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: It is growing, it's doing really well, and I'm just really grateful.
- 1:24SPEAKER_01: It's one of the things I love the most outside of coaching, is the podcast.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: And it's funny because when I did my human design work, I don't know if I need some a lot of you know human design work.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: If not, you can listen to my podcast on human design.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: But it was, I was told that I meant to have a voice and reach a lot of people.
- 1:42SPEAKER_01: And so the cool thing about a podcast is from my living room, not only do I bring great guests in, but I also have a chance for you guys to get to know me a little bit better.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: And I do find when people watch or listen to my podcast and then they meet me on a coaching call or a person in person, they're like, oh my gosh, I feel like I know you.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: That is my goal.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: I want you guys to really get to know me.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And part of getting to know somebody is also to trust them.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: And I think when it comes to your health and wellness and peptides, especially trusting your coach, trusting the community that you're in, the doctors that we have is really important.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: So I thought let's do another one, because I haven't done a long time of just a solo one-on-one.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: So my team kind of helped me think of different topics that you guys might find interesting.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: And let's just dive right in.
- 2:30SPEAKER_01: Okay, what am I most excited about?
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: Loop health.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: If you guys have not jumped on our loop health network, please do.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: In a couple of weeks, there'll be an app which will make it a lot more user-friendly.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: So right now, I think the best way that I use it is on my um laptop computer.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: And loop health has been something that has been a long time in the making in terms of a dream.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: And really, when I set out to start loop, I really, like I said, just wanted to educate people and on peptides, on how to be a middle-aged woman, in health, in life in general, and how do I help my community, and how do I hire doctors and nurses and coaches and people a lot smarter than me that you can have access to.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: And so part of Loop Health is a place where you can go no matter what.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: Not even, you don't even have to be a peptide if you want to be part of it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: But we have all these different chat groups where you can go on and talk about men's health, women's health, perimenopause, brain health.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: I've got a workout app on there.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: So a lot of you've asked about Brad and my training, which I can say the biggest, one of the biggest changes I've had outside of peptides and changing my lifestyle is how I work out.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: And I will credit Brad to a lot of the reason why I have the most muscle and a physique that I'm really, really happy with at middle age.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: And it's because he taught me, or actually retaught my brain, how to work out.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: And it's called the German Recomp.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: It's for anybody can start.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: It's on our app Underneath Fitness.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: And the premise behind it is that it is two workouts, and you'll do the same two workouts either two times or you'll do them each twice, so four times a week for three weeks, and then we film again.
- 4:14SPEAKER_01: So that's a female and a male version.
- 4:16SPEAKER_01: If you guys have not checked out the workout, I'm telling you, hands down, it has made the one of the biggest changes in my body composition is how Brad works out.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Everything plays on each other.
- 4:28SPEAKER_01: So you're gonna give yourself six months a year.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: Rome was not built in a day.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: So you actually need to make sure that you are eating your protein, you're resting, but this workout will change your body.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: I promise you, trust me, I would not come in here and say that.
- 4:41SPEAKER_01: So that's on there.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: I've got Meg, who's our nutritionist.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: So jump into the nutrition app.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: There is so many recipes.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Share.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: You know, I think one of the things for me that's so fun about Loop is that I have a community.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: So I have a community not only in my other coaches and my nurses and my doctors, but I also have a community in all these other women.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: And so getting on these chat groups, ask questions, guys, share your experiences.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: That's what's really fun.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: We're also kicking off our lives this week.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: So go and see our live schedule.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: We'll also record them.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: Different topics, different guests on there.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: And then also we have a whole place of preferred partners.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: There's all these discounts with all these other female founders and just founders who have items that I use.
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: They're tips and true tricks and tools, I guess you would say, for middle age, and we want to bring them to you.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: So there's so much community.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: There's the peptide tracker.
- 5:32SPEAKER_01: So you're able to put your peptides in there, they'll help you with the reconstitution.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: All these protocols, detail protocols, they're all gonna live here.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna live on the loop way anymore anymore.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: So it's a great place to go play around, get started, check in every day.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna see if there's anything else I miss it.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, also blood work.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: We have blood work at costs, and I think that's really important.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: I just actually use our system to run a very detailed panel.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: Polo's going over it with me.
- 5:59SPEAKER_01: A little kind of tip I'll tell you that we're actually also working on is that I have high cholesterol.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: Now, I have high cholesterol because it is genetic.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: It's in my family, and it, but my overall cholesterol is high.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: And so I have no inflammation in my body, my almost no visceral fat, but I clearly have an issue with cholesterol.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: So I just jumped on ATX and I'm actually gonna show you guys, polo and Ile together, my blood work now versus in three months of running our ATX protocol to bring cholesterol and total cholesterol down.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: So I'm excited to do that and I will share with all of you guys.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: But blood work is so important and knowledge is power because there are so many things you can do to improve your blood work.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: It's not just peptides, it's also supplementation.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: And we also have a lot of oral peptides that can help with some of your blood work.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: So we have blood work at cost.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: We can help you make panels that work for you, and then we also have suggested panels based on what issues you might be having.
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: So make sure you check out the blood work piece.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: What else?
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: I think that's kind of it.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Shop the collective, and we also have telehealth.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: So, what's great about telehealth, guys, is for instance, right now I'm getting my glutathione.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: It just arrived today through our telehealth.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Super easy to do, and you can go on.
- 7:09SPEAKER_01: Some people would like to go through telehealth rather than research-based peptides.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: So now we have it here, clean and simple.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: And you can also work with a coach as well when you go through telehealth.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: So make sure to go on loop health and check it out.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: I'm really proud of it.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: It's a work in progress.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: We're still a startup, but once the app comes out, I think that format will make it really easy to play around with.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: Loop Beauty.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Okay, guys, I'm gonna talk about the beauty, the beta recap.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: Thanks to everyone.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: We know over 200 women that took part of our beta, and that was um three months of using our serum and our moisturizer, and they gave us feedback.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: And I'm telling you, the glows and the feedback on the serum were unbelievable.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: So, so unbelievable that I have now, it's my hero product, it's in packaging.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: We will have it in the beginning of November.
- 7:58SPEAKER_01: The deadline for me is I wanted to get it for Black Friday, but it is going to be available, guys.
- 8:04SPEAKER_01: It works.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: It is a hero product, it has five other peptides in it.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: I'm very proud of this product product, can't even speak today, of this product.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: And I really want to take everything and make it simple.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: We do not need a 12-step process.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: And I feel like this serum does a really good job of hydrating, obviously, GHKCU at a 2% medical grade level, helps with collagen, fine lines and wrinkles.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: You can microneedle it if you want or a roll with it, but it's going to be a hero product.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: And then the fun one is I have eye patches with GHKCU in it and caffeine.
- 8:40SPEAKER_01: And not only does the caffeine help pull the puffiness out, but the GHKCU gives you this beautiful glow, helps the fine lines and wrinkles.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: And eye patches are just fun.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: They're hip, they're in style.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: My daughters love them, they're super cute.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: They have the infinity sign on them.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: And so we'll have those out by Black Friday.
- 8:58SPEAKER_01: And we have samples.
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: So, really, in any of your orders right now with peptides, we're sending eye patches and our serums.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: If you like them, everything will go on pre-sale.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: So if it's something you're really excited about, we will have subscription too.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: So it'll come every month.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: And then I'm working on our moisturizer, our body moisturizer, and a few other things are up my sleeve.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: But for now, we've got these two products coming out with Loop Beauty.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: And thank you, everyone, for the beta group.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: And it's been really fun, I think, in a world of peptides where I'm silenced clearly, and it's hard to talk about things.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: The beauty piece is just fun.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: And I love our manufacturer.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: We've been working, gosh, I'd say a year on this project back and forth.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: And he's been in the beauty industry for generations, knows what they're doing.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Their chemists are on point.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And, you know, the GHKCU at a 2% level, you cannot mess around with.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: And so you have to really make sure that it has stability, that the packaging is correct, so that it does not break down.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: And they've done a really good job working back and forth with us.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: So I'm excited for you guys to try the product.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: It's great.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: So look for that.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: Probably email about um pre-ordering that.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Events.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 10:09SPEAKER_01: So my IRL, I had to pivot, and I just did a sub stack on the art of pivoting, and it's sometimes not easy, but I decided a couple reasons why I postponed the IRL until the spring was it's in really, really hot in Newport, like not fun hot and very humid, and we're having a whole new boost of humidity come again.
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: And our event is outside, and I love the integrity of keeping it outside.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: In fact, this year the entire piece is outside.
- 10:37SPEAKER_01: So when the event venue came back to us and said, Hey, do you want to move it inside because of the weather?
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: I just thought, no.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: And I also don't want people sitting in the heat for a panel at 10:30 and sweating.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: So I thought May would be better.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: I want to do it on Mother's Day again.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: And so we decided to postpone that.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: But I did have eight of my coaches come in and we had a fantastic weekend just learning about each other and playing and growing.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: And it's just gonna make the community even that much stronger now that everyone knows each other.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: So that was fun.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: So keep an eye out for when our dates were we'll we'll be doing one, an IRL in the spring in Dallas, and then we'll do one again, I think Mother's Day weekend, May, in Newport Beach.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: So I love them.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: They're a fun community.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: And then my retreat, I'm doing my retreat in um August, no August, hello, October 18th.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And it's one of my most favorite special um events that I do a year.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: It's very small.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: We have two more spots.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: If anyone wants to do our retreat, jump on in.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: And it's a great group of women.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: So we are putting together a very special four days and three nights, and you will not be disappointed.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: So I'm looking forward to that.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, what else am I looking forward to?
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: So I what am I doing?
- 11:50SPEAKER_01: I'm celebrating my dad's 80th birthday, which I'm very excited about.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Sorry, dad, if I outed you.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: But also, I have a big event for this female founders group that I am up in LA, and then I got invited to something called Founders Land in Malibu, and it's all founders, and there's tons of panels and speakers.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: I'm really excited.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I'll tell you guys all about it when I get back.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: But I'm just really trying to, as I mentioned before, link arms with as many other like-minded men and women as I can, and going to as many events as I can and saying yes when I get invited.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I just was up in LA yesterday for an amazing um, it's called Shaw Wellness, and they have medical facilities that are high-end hotels in Mexico, Spain, and they're opening one outside of Dubai.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: And so I really want to go as our guests and check out their Mexico one and hopefully host a retreat there one day, uh, sooner than later.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: But if you haven't checked out Shaw, go check it out.
- 12:43SPEAKER_01: It looks amazing.
- 12:44SPEAKER_01: So that's kind of what I have on the docket.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: I've been working really hard on loop health, and I've shared this in my Substack.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Um, it's being a founder is hard.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, starting a business, being an entrepreneur is hard.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: And there are days when you're going, what am I doing?
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: And there's days where like this is so fun.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: And I think what I didn't realize in building loop health was that I was building a tech company.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: And so we'd spent so much time on trying to really, really scale it.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: And what that means is that it's expensive.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: And so I've had to kind of dive into the books and audit and what does this look like?
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: And it's been really good for me.
- 13:20SPEAKER_01: It's been really scary.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: I've talked about this.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: I'm a person who kind of avoids numbers and avoids finance and all that kind of stuff.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: And so to get my head in the books and understand a budget, understand meta-ads, understand where we are spending our money.
- 13:35SPEAKER_01: I don't have Instagram still.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: That's probably for another day, but um, I'm hoping to get it back.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: But it's allowed me.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: I'm on TikTok now.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: So if you're on TikTok, come follow me.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: I always thought, like, what is a 51-year-old woman doing on TikTok?
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: But because like I can't even have a burner account on Instagram.
- 13:53SPEAKER_01: If I have a burner account, it gets taken down.
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: So I literally have no Instagram.
- 13:56SPEAKER_01: And so I was on TikTok just using it kind of as a social media, and I was really enjoying the long format, the long podcast clips.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: I was enjoying other creators sharing how to use TikTok.
- 14:08SPEAKER_01: Um, there's a lot of middle-aged men and women on there sharing their tips and tricks.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: And so literally one day I'm like to my team, well, why don't I just get on and start posting on TikTok and talk about being like, I do not know what I'm doing.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I don't even know what TikTok really likes or the algorithm, but it's been really fun.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: What I like about TikTok is it's not curated.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: And what I mean by that is TikTok really likes you to get on and just start talking.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: And that's really comfortable for me.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: I have some of my curated stuff on there, but I really just, if I feel like talking, I turn the camera on and I start talking.
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: And so it's been fun.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: They're also mean.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: I think it's interesting too, is that you get these comments where they're challenging you, and then also like other people will support you within the comment section.
- 14:50SPEAKER_01: But I like it because it's, I don't know really anyone on it.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: And so you're getting to have real dialogue, and I think it's just fun to get to know a different platform.
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: My Instagram, I'm hoping, will be back next month.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: I've been working really hard on it, but I've pretty much I lost Stephanie Gambetta in February and all my loop ones July 1st.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: So July, August.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: I'm three months of no Instagram.
- 15:12SPEAKER_01: So you want to talk about struggling with a business, not having social media, it's extremely hard.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: But we've been pivoting, um, enjoying my Substack.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: Check me out there.
- 15:21SPEAKER_01: It's really fun to write.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: And I've been joining TikTok, so and my podcast.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: So there's a lot going on there, which is great.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: You might be seeing some ads for loop health on Instagram.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: We're playing with that.
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: And I kind of feel like I'm in business school again.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: I think between my finances and then also just really working with our team on meta and like what does it mean to advertise on meta?
- 15:42SPEAKER_01: What is the ROI?
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Is it important?
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Is it working?
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: Is it not working?
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: So I've been having a lot of fun.
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: I think I, well, I know I feel really smart, and then there's other things I'm like, I'm actually good at business.
- 15:52SPEAKER_01: I think there's sometimes I'm like, I'm a coach on this, but I'm actually good at business.
- 15:56SPEAKER_01: And I think that's been really fun to realize that my brain can work in different capacities in different ways.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: So that has been on the docket for me.
- 16:06SPEAKER_01: What else do I have?
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: Um, I've also been kicked off of YouTube.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: So let's add that to my list, right, Caesar?
- 16:14SPEAKER_01: So fun to get kicked off of everything.
- 16:16SPEAKER_01: But on the positive note, I've been asked a lot about what stack I'm on.
- 16:19SPEAKER_01: I am at the time where I'm on my favorite stack.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: I've talked about this.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I'm on my mitochondria reset.
- 16:24SPEAKER_01: So I just finished SS31.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: And that is a big doozy, I'll be honest.
- 16:28SPEAKER_01: That is 21 days of a five milligram injection.
- 16:32SPEAKER_01: And so that is, I mean, talk about getting sick of pinning yourself.
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: But I love it.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: You I feel so good on SS31, my energy.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: I do it enough now that um I do feel like from a cellular level, my mitochondria are very healthy.
- 16:49SPEAKER_01: And I think every time you do it, you're getting healthier and healthier, and your antioxidant stress is less, and that way also it works better.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: And then I go right into Mat C.
- 16:59SPEAKER_01: So I just started my MOTC.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: I will do that for a month, and then for the most part, I just maintain with 5 amino 1 and I cycle that and then NAD.
- 17:07SPEAKER_01: So I'm always doing something to support my mitochondria.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: Your mitochondria, guys, is the powerhouse of your cell.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: When your mitochondria are doing well and they're not inundated with all of this stress, everything else works better.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: Your skin looks better, your body functions better.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: I think the other peptides work better.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: So if you've been on peptides for a while and you have not tried a mitochondria reset, I'd say book a call, jump on.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: If you're comfortable, email the team.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: SS31 is um available, but it is going to be via an email.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: You will not see it on our site.
- 17:39SPEAKER_01: So if that's something that you're interested in, make sure you email the support team and they will get you SS31 and then you go right into MOT C.
- 17:45SPEAKER_01: And if you want to start dabbling in it, I'd say start with 5 Amino 1.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: It's oral.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: You can also try NAD, which is amazing.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: So I'm on that.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: I always, and I've talked about this, thymastin alpha 1 and KPV.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: I take like a multivitamin.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: And what I mean by that is it's always in my rotation.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: So three months on, one month off.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: And I just find my immunity gets compromised a lot from just my lifestyle.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: I'm on planes back and forth to Dallas.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: I'm in a lot of stress.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: I'm in, I try to manage my stress bit well, but you know, I have a stressful um job as a female founder, and I find that KPV works with my gut very well and the inflammation in my body, and then thymus and alpha one just keeps my immunity in check.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: So those are two I rave about.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: I just told you my ATX for my cholesterol, that's a new one.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: I microdose my lean and burn on and off.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: I'm actually on it right now.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: I feel better on a microdose.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: I found a dose where I do not lose weight on it and that I also um can gain muscle.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: So lean and burn, I think if you want to maintain muscle, is one of the best GLPs you can be on.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: You need to know how to dose it correctly.
- 18:57SPEAKER_01: So I definitely feel like work with a coach or go get into our community chat group.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: There's one on GLPs and ask away.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: Our coaches will help you with your protocols and help you kind of figure out what to do for free, which is great.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: And what else?
- 19:11SPEAKER_01: Let me think.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: I have I'm sleeping better.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: I was having a really hard time sleeping, not only because I'm perimenopausal and I'm dealing with some hormone stuff, but I think with all the stress.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And I got on full through our full script a cortisol manager that I take at night, and I've upped my progesterone.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: Those two things have really helped, and I've changed my magnesium.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: I'm now doing one that I can take at night with water, and I find that I'm sleeping so much better.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I did get an aura ring, I admit that I was on here kind of I always tease people with aura ring.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: I was an early adapter, I didn't like all the data, stopped it, and then because of loop health, I was like, well, we can put our wearables into loop health, which I thought was really cool.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: And so I got one again.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: And now my boyfriend and I literally have a challenge every morning, especially when he's in Dallas.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: I wake up to his scores, and I this morning I was really happy to report back that I beat him.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: I was a 93% sleep score.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: He was a 90, and he was peacocking around thinking it was so good and I beat him.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: However, there's our days that are terrible, but I think it is fun to see really kind of what's working.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: And sleep for me as a middle-aged woman, I know a lot of you can relate, has been really, really difficult, especially with the stress that I've had.
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: So I will take it.
- 20:28SPEAKER_01: I think it's gotten a lot better and it's more under control.
- 20:32SPEAKER_01: So, and then I'm always taking fatty 15.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: I actually do symbiotica and I take their D vitamins with their CoQ10, I take their B vitamins, and I do an oral glutathione from them as well, even though the injectable is way better.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: What else do I take?
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: Because I get asked this a lot.
- 20:52SPEAKER_01: My probiotic is actually in powdered form, and I take it in the morning.
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: So I kind of do a morning elixir before my coffee, and I will take our creatine.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: This is all one glass, our creatine.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: I take a collagen that I get from Australia that I love, message me, I'll send it to you the link.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: I take a probiotic that my doctor prescribed for me, and I take a vitality um gut health.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: So I kind of take a gut gut elixir in the morning before my coffee, after my thyroid medicine.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: And that's kind of it.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: And other than that, I've been really listening to my body.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: I'm really proud of myself.
- 21:25SPEAKER_01: I do think recovery is really hard when you are a go-getter and you're type A, like me and a lot of us.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: But taking the dime time downtime and walking when I need a recovery day and doing the sauna and just really listening to my body has completely paid off.
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: Um, and then I think on a personal note, I went to Montana with some girlfriends and guys schedule time with your girlfriends, is all I'm gonna say.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: And your husband, wife, partner, whoever it is, it's so easy for life to get away from you and We put this trip on the books last year.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: We went to WeCare last year, which was the opposite of this one.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: I think this one was like fat camp.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: We ate so many French fries and enjoyed margaritas and we met all these other women.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: It was actually a woman's retreat.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: Make the time, even if it's a year out, put it on the books.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: If you've been thinking about my retreat, come.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: You come back from weekends away, especially with girlfriends.
- 22:21SPEAKER_01: And I felt so light and so happy.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I hugged trees, I rode horses, I met other women from around the country.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: And you forget sometimes we go, go, go just to be.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: And I have to say, it was really nice to be in nature, to get away from it all, and to plan for it.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: So that really filled me up.
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: And I maybe will kind of wrap up this solo with that is just like, what do you want this last quarter of the year to be like?
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: And design exactly what you want.
- 22:51SPEAKER_01: I'm really trying to, even if it's a month out, like right now, I've got some girlfriends, we're all so busy and we're trying to get a lunch in the books.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: And it's in a month.
- 22:58SPEAKER_01: That's the only time that we can make it work.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: But if you don't make the time, then it doesn't happen.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And I'm going into a very, very busy season now through the holidays.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: And so I am trying to be as organized as I can and really take care of myself.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: And so I think if I can give you two pieces of advice is listen to your body and recover and make sure that you plan fun time.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: You know, plan time with people that you love and it fills you up in more ways than one.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: So this is gonna be interesting.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: We're now gonna roll right into a podcast I filmed, I don't know, Caesar, a couple months ago on DEXA scans.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And I kind of held it back because I it is on the shorter side, and I just wanted to make sure that you guys found it interesting.
- 23:37SPEAKER_01: So I thought I would pair it with a solo, and I don't like my solos to be more than 20 minutes because I don't think I'm that interesting.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: But the DEXA scans, it was a really great one.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: There's a code if you live in Newport Beach.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: I love this DEXA scan place because it also they sit down and they show you everything with your DEXA scan.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: And so I think it's really important to understand what you're reading.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: Mine are really great for me because I'm seeing how these peptides are working from a visceral fat perspective.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Like I said, I gained a pound of muscle in my last one.
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: I did in May, so May, June, July, August, September.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: I will probably do one at the end of next month.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: I personally think six months DEXA scan twice a year is really good.
- 24:15SPEAKER_01: Sometimes if you do them too close together, you're not really seeing your true results.
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: It takes a long time to build muscle.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: It takes a lot of time to lose fat if you're trying to lose fat.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: So pay attention to your bone density.
- 24:27SPEAKER_01: All those things, especially if you're on GLP, matter.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: So hopefully you enjoyed this podcast on the DEXA scan.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: It's not as exciting as a lot of my other podcasts, but it's really informative.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: And I think it's a very important tool in your toolbox to use, guys.
- 24:40SPEAKER_01: Knowledge impact is empower.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: Your in-body scans are not as accurate as a DEXA scan.
- 24:45SPEAKER_01: So anyway, hopefully you enjoyed my touching base, a little more what's going on with me.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Hopefully, you'll see me on Instagram, maybe by the time this comes out.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: I don't know, but we will see.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: And if not, thanks for supporting me.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: And I hope to see you on the Loop Health app.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: All right, well, welcome to Loop Way Podcast.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I'm so happy to have you here.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: We are going to dive in all things DEXA scan.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: Um, I talk about it a ton just with my community because I always think knowledge is power, right?
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: And so not only is it important to get blood work, but then you also have to look at the body, right?
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: And from how would you describe it?
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: Is a skeletal meltaskeletal?
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Or the describe to us exactly what a DEXA fit is, why you got into this business, why you're so passionate about it, and then we'll kind of back into it from there.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: Sure, sure.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: So uh thank you so much for having me.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm Dr.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: Abed Faruqi, a board certified musculoskeletal radiologist, and also just uh uh an enthusiast in preventative health, uh health empowerment, uh, and and educating people about healthcare.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: Yes, yes.
- 25:55SPEAKER_00: And I love to collaborate with other like-minded individuals like yourself to try to help provide the most value to people.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Um, and that's kind of what uh Dexafit is all about.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: So about uh eight years ago, my uh business partner and I, we were reading about how people um are used are trying to use more accurate ways of assessing body composition, uh, get some personalized data.
- 26:18SPEAKER_00: It's right around right before COVID.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Um personalized health data wasn't a huge uh thing as it is right now.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: But um, you know, there's this trend that people were using body composition testing uh in in uh instead of BMI testing, calipers, um, and uh weighing skills.
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: And so um we we uh um my background in radiology, you know, it introduced me to DEXA scans for bone density testing, which we'll probably touch base on later.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: But um it can actually be used for body composition testing, uh, and is actually the gold standard of body composition testing.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, and it got me really interested in how to use this information for preventative health, wellness, uh, understanding how changes in our lifestyle, exercise, nutrition, how that's what kind of impact that's having on our body, our muscle mass, our bone mass, our fat mass.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: Um, and so that's kind of what DEXAFit is about.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: It's about bringing that kind of advanced medical grade technology to consumers in a very approachable, uh, uh very easy to understand format.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: Um, and so in addition to the body composition testing that we do do do at DEXAFit uh using a DEXA scanner, we also do bone density testing, we do resting metabolic rate testing, uh, and also via two max testing.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, which all that stuff's like is so important, right?
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: I would love you to kind of get into what type of client do you have, do you come you have come through your door?
- 27:51SPEAKER_01: Because I obviously like I know why my community would come to see you.
- 27:54SPEAKER_01: You know, a lot of us are on GLPs, a lot of us are on different peptides that we're trying to either put on muscle or change our body composition.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: We might be worried about our visceral fat.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: We want to make sure that it is going down, we want to make sure the peptides are working.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: So the peptides are in one category, which we're gonna jump into.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: And I'm I would love your feedback on what you think about the whole peptide world and and what you're seeing through your company, but also what other types of reasons or clients will walk through your door?
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, uh great question.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: So we've had we we we're open to anyone and everyone that's interested in wanting to learn more about their uh their health uh and to make a difference.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Um and so initially it was a lot of people who were already familiar with the type of testing, uh, a body composition test using a DEXA scanner.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Um and so it'd be either bodybuilders, athletes, um, people who um are kind of at the forefront of biohacking.
- 28:49SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, it helped us to understand the uh the different ways that different uh lifestyle habits can uh and supplementation and and how those things can impact different body composition profiles.
- 29:03SPEAKER_00: Um But you know, at the end of the day, we're we're trying to get even the person who is just starting their fitness journey are starting to, you know, wanting to make a difference in their life, uh, get them into the door.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Um, because ultimately the value really comes when you are able to track the progress from the beginning of a journey.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: Um and so we we've done a lot of outreach, education, partnerships with places and businesses, gyms, trainers, um, and just trying to help to uh explain that you know body composition test very low risk for the majority of people.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: Um it's a very quick eight-minute scan, uh, and it helps to give um the client uh very detailed uh actionable data.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: Um and so now we've seen we're seeing a lot more with the rise in trends of GLP treatment, uh, other weight loss treatments, um, people who are on other peptides for muscle health and recovery, uh, people who may be on treatment for uh bone health.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: Uh we're seeing a lot of different types of of um clients with different goals, um, but ultimately the the you know the test is performed the same way for body composition, uh it gives you the same kind of information and trackable information that's um that's highly accurate.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Uh and so you know, the the demographics are changing of people who are uh now understanding that this is a tool for their disposal uh to improve their journey and and and outcomes of the changes that they're making.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Uh and so we're we're we're happy to you know open a new location in the South Bay Redondo Beach area in a couple of weeks, hopefully.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: That's exciting.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: And just kind of help expand the yeah, help to expand the uh availability and access of this kind of thing.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: Well, and I think with the rise of GLPs, especially when they say 30 million Americans are on a GLP, not only are you, I would say, and one of the you're using the Dexafit to also hold yourself accountable in the sense of like you want to make sure you're not losing too much muscle, you want to look at your bone density, right?
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: Like that's a very important, especially as you're aging, you want to make sure that your bone density is not declining and that you're strong.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: And and then also your visceral fat, right?
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: You want to measure the visceral fat because that's what's gonna kill you at the end of the day.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: If there's too much visceral fat, um, there's no way you're gonna live a healthy, happy life.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: I the way I look at it.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Um and so I wanted to ask you so are you seeing a lot of rise of people coming in because of the GLP, would you say?
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: You know, we we um we started kind of actually getting involved with um GLP um at a clinical trial level.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: Um, so a lot of the testing for some of these newer GLPs, GIP combinations um that are supposed to help kind of offset some of the side effects of muscle loss or bone loss with some of the earlier versions of the GLPs.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: And so um, you know, we kind of see a little bit of um early glimpses into how um the formulations of these uh uh peptides is changing, uh, the effects that it has.
- 32:14SPEAKER_00: Uh obviously, you know, for some people it's gonna work better in certain prof in certain profiles, and and for people of different backgrounds and genetics, it's gonna work in a different way.
- 32:25SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think the trend that we've been seeing is is more people uh who are taking uh some form of uh weight loss peptide uh and who are aware that you know there are potential side effects for weight, weight, uh changes to your bone mass, uh changes to your muscle mass that need to be identified early on so that you can avoid going down a wrong path, um, a path that's gonna cause more harm long term than than short term.
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: You know, one of the things I like about your company, and that's interrupt real quick though, is the how knowledgeable everyone is.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: You know, I have a lot of friends who just will go to DEXA scan somewhere and they they don't really understand it.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: I love that your team, and you can talk about the type of employee that you do hired, they are knowledgeable and they sit down, they walk through, you know, everything, which for me, not only the first time was really important because I didn't really know what I was looking at or really what I needed to look at.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: And so they really kind of walk me through what to look at.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: I was also recovering from an injury.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: So I was about, I'd say a year and about four months of three months of being back in the gym.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: And so it was also important for me to make sure that I had symmetry, right?
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: And so I had to make sure that like my left leg, which was injured, was as strong as my right.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: So like I didn't even think about that going in of just how important not only looking at my bone density, my visceral fat, my body fat, my percentage of muscle, but also where my percentage of muscle lay.
- 33:54SPEAKER_01: And was it symmetric?
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: So was I favoring my other leg?
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: That's important knowledge to know.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: I didn't know that, but your teen told me that, and I found it really interesting.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I'm I'm so glad that you have that feedback.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: Um, I'll definitely share with the team.
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: But yeah, our team is amazing.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, we we kind of pick people who are passionate about this space, passionate about wellness, uh preventative health, and ultimately educating uh clients.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, one of the things that we try to pride ourselves on and really focus on is the client engagement, making that their visit a little bit more personalized to their concerns, to their goals.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: Um and so, you know, each each of our DEXA appointments is about 30 minutes long.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: Um like I mentioned earlier, the scan part takes about eight to ten minutes.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: And so we use that remaining time to go over the results because, like you mentioned, there's there's a lot of information that you can glean out of there.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's not just you know how much body fat, how much muscle mass or bone mass you have.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: You have the visceral fat component also that it calculates uh compared to some other types of body composition tests that don't calculate it.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: Um you also have the asymmetry of the lean mass.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: And so, yeah, I mean the fact that you sought out to understand um, you know, what your body composition was, maybe where your muscle mass was after your accident, um, you know, you know, that that's great because we definitely see people who have some kind of asymmetry.
- 35:20SPEAKER_00: Um, and they, upon kind of questioning their history, they recall that they had some injury that's kind of they thought that they had recovered from fully, but they may not be fully recovered from from a standpoint that they may be favoring one side work when they're working out, they may be more strong on the other side.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: And and ultimately you want to try to catch that earlier because you know, asymmetry in the body can lead to early degeneration, it puts stresses on your spine in an improper way, uh, whatever it is, and that could lead to early arthritis or or more problems down the line.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: So the faster that you can cat can catch that, um, there's interventions to do.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, we added um a kind of movement specialist, someone that uh is has a background in physical therapy to the team because they can kind of help bring that knowledge.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: Uh, and we we also do have a test that performs kinetic chain assessments.
- 36:11SPEAKER_00: Um, so how well do you squat, how deep do you do it, you know, are there any deficits?
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Are you kind of leaning one way when you're doing certain types of functional movements uh that you should you should try to correct?
- 36:21SPEAKER_00: Uh and so because we started started to notice that in a body composition test, you can actually see the symmetry of the right to left.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Um, there's something that's actionable from that.
- 36:31SPEAKER_00: Um and so, you know, 30 minutes is oftentimes honestly not even not long enough to do that.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because I ask all the questions at the end, I'm like, wait, I need to know more.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: And our team would love to spend more time, but you know, at the end of the day, um we we do want to make ourselves uh accessible to as many po people as possible while also providing the value.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: So it's it's a balance.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: But you know, we're always here to um kind of educate again afterwards.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: You can always reach out by phone or email or whatever it is.
- 36:59SPEAKER_01: Do you think someone should be doing a dex of it scan?
- 37:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's a great, great question.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Um, so you know it it it depends on the the goals um that a person has.
- 37:12SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, personally I do it once a quarter.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: Um typically I see that you know there isn't um as much noticeable change in a time frame shorter than that, um, because you do need time to allow you know for tissue synthesis and tissue uh recomposition.
- 37:29SPEAKER_00: Um and so um just to make sure that I'm going the right direction, I typically perform it once a quarter.
- 37:35SPEAKER_00: Uh if you do twice a year, I think also that's that's um sufficient to kind of make make sure that you're one, not losing muscle mass or bone mass, and that you're keeping your fat mass in the in the right um percentile.
- 37:48SPEAKER_00: Um so typically, you know, for the body composition, anywhere from two to four times uh in in a year is is an acceptable amount.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Um the amount of radiation, you know, the people are worried about that a DEXA scan uses an X-ray, a very low dose of X-ray.
- 38:04SPEAKER_00: It's the same equivalent to walking around um outside for a day with the background radiation exposure.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: It's like maybe um less than a uh you know a 20th of uh a chest x-ray exposure.
- 38:18SPEAKER_00: Um and so you know, I we do try to take precautions and um, you know, screen for any pregnancy or screen for any recent um uh radiology exam, especially ones that require dye or anything like that, to make sure that it's uh as accurate as possible and safe.
- 38:34SPEAKER_00: But generally it's a very safe exam to perform um regular repeatedly throughout the year.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: When I like this too, just like tell my a lot of my clients, like ditch the scale because especially if you're working on your body recomp and you're putting on muscle, the scale's gonna go up, right?
- 38:48SPEAKER_01: So you might be smaller, the scale goes up.
- 38:50SPEAKER_01: I did mine, I do three, I did three a year.
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: I kind of like for me three a year because you need enough time to make change.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: A.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: You know, I have a friend and she had done it, I think, once a quarter, and she was complaining and so if you take out the middle one and you compare the sixth month, you've actually like really reconf your body.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: But you know, she was she was looking at the middle one, and so she didn't see as much.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: But I said, Well, take the middle one out and look at these two in six months, you did a lot.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: Why don't we just for fun walk through a little bit of my do you have my DEXA scan out?
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: Because I have three to look at and kind of walk through what we're looking at for somebody.
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: We can kind of play, we can I might blur out a couple things, but for the most part, let's kind of walk through what this looks like for the for our listener.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 39:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I have it up with me.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: Um so my first one it looked like was what in July?
- 39:47SPEAKER_01: July 2025?
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: July 8th.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: July 80th.
- 39:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, correct.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: July 28th, 2025.
- 39:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Um, so at the top of the report, we have um, and you could find sample reports on our website, oc.dexafit.com, but we have the very first exam that you performed.
- 40:04SPEAKER_00: It gives you your total mass that's calculated from the scale, uh, from the from the scanner itself.
- 40:10SPEAKER_00: That's how much you weigh, right?
- 40:12SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: There's a little bit of a difference, um, one percent max of uh difference in weight between the scale and uh, you know, sometimes we'd have clients that come in and ask us, oh, I weighed myself this morning on the scale, and then this uh this report is telling me I'm off by three pounds.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: Um something like that is it's not unusual.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: Um it is one because the calibration of the sc of the scanner versus a weighing scale is going to be different.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 40:39SPEAKER_00: Um and then also this one you're you're laying down, and the composition is calculated through you know some some physics and math about the penetration of the X-ray beam through different tissues.
- 40:50SPEAKER_00: Uh, and you know, on a weighing scale, it's primarily calculated through gravity.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: So there's maybe a little bit of a discrepancy there, but nothing too um that's that's significant usually.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: Uh so we once you get your total mass, then we have the fat tissue in pounds, how much of that there is, the lean tissue, which is muscle, and some water weight, as long as you know, we we tell clients as long as you're appropriately hydrated uh for each scan at the same time.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: We try to keep all variables, you know, as much as possible the the same.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: So the hydration amount, the amount of uh the time of the day time of the day that you get scanned can can sometimes make a difference.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: Um so we try to keep those uh we recommend keeping those as consistent as possible.
- 41:32SPEAKER_00: Um so lean tissue kind of encompasses both that water weight and muscle mass.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: And then we have BMC, which is bone mineral content, um, and then visceral fat.
- 41:42SPEAKER_00: And then it kind of gives you the percentage of the fat relative to your whole body, um, at which you could compare against some standards out there for what is considered obese, overweight, uh fit, athletic, um, lean, some of those categories.
- 41:57SPEAKER_01: And it's so interesting, just like, you know, like I said, a scale isn't gonna show you this.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: And what when I went in, what I was I'm mostly interested right now is really like I got to put on a pound of muscle, which was like, I bragged about this, someone's probably so sick of me talking about this.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: But that was exciting for me because I was like, oh, something's really working.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: You know, while on a microdose of a GLP, I was able to put on a pound of muscle.
- 42:18SPEAKER_01: So my lifestyle, what I'm doing is really working.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: And then you're watching as well as that, you know, your weight stays pretty much the same.
- 42:25SPEAKER_01: You're reversing your body composition.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: My bone density is great, my visceral fat is great, you know.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: So you're looking at these and it's just it's also like to hold you accountable, right?
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Even from like a hormone perspective.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: Okay, do I want to put on some more body fat so I can keep my hormones in check?
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: Like, where does all of this lie?
- 42:42SPEAKER_01: Knowledge is power.
- 42:43SPEAKER_01: It's it's that's why I tell my clients, I like them to get one as a baseline.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: And I see someone like, don't even look at it.
- 42:50SPEAKER_01: Put it in the drawer, you know, or tell the guy you're not ready if you're not wanting to see the results.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: But what's interesting is you go back four months later, I guarantee if you're doing the lifestyle that I coach about and you're also on certain peptides, this looks a lot better.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Are you guys finding that with some of what the pay, you know, your patients that you're seeing?
- 43:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: You know, one thing I do want to touch base on is that you had mentioned, which is great also, is that um, you know, one is the the fat, the the myth of the fat, you know, and so there's fat is it's an essential nutrient of the the uh composition, and it it's obviously, you know, a lot of um a lot of people perceive fat as just being bad, but you know, it is the base one of the basic building blocks.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: Triglycerides is one of the basic building blocks for all cells, for energy.
- 43:37SPEAKER_00: And so we do need a certain amount of it and just making sure that we have the good amount of fat, a good amount of fat and the right type of fat on our body.
- 43:45SPEAKER_00: So majority of fat's going to be stored in subcutaneous spaces.
- 43:48SPEAKER_00: Visceral fat is the fat that's around the organs that can tend to be pro inflammatory and cause you know havoc if there's you know too much of it stored there because the muscles can't take it up.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: And so a lot of that stuff could be, you know, um it's gonna be dependent on some genetics and and some other factors, but you know, it's something that a program like yours or or you know, whatever type of um program that you may be going through nutritionally, um, it can help help to try to identify how to improve the the results that you get that show, you know, like in yours, your visceral fat went down while your bone mineral content and muscle mass were going up.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: And so you know that that's truly muscle mass because you're you're changing your your recomp is going in the right direction, your your sub Q fat and your visceral fat is going the right direction uh in the same direction, and your lean tissue and bone mineral content are increasing because you as you would expect that you know the more resistance training that you're doing, the more more um the stronger that your bones are gonna get also.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: And you could you could clearly see that on the results that that you that you had.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: Well, and that's I like to debunk this too, in the sense of saying not debunk this report, but like when they're saying, you know, if you're on a GLP, oh my gosh, you've got to work, you know, if you worry so much in your bone density and you have to worry so much about losing muscle, you can't put on muscle, you're gonna lose muscle.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, if you're not actually living a lifestyle, right?
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: If you're not eating, you're not getting nutrition, you're not lifting weights, you're not eating protein.
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: Well, no joke, it's like anything else.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: Like take a GLP on or take a GLP off.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: If you're not doing those things, you're gonna see a very bad DEXA scan.
- 45:25SPEAKER_01: But you can be on a microdoso GLP and get all the blood work benefits, right?
- 45:30SPEAKER_01: And then I think the visceral fat piece, which I would love to see if your team has pulled up some knowledge on, but like losing visceral fat and increasing bone density is not that easy to do.
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think a lot of it, a GLP, really helps you with that conversion.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Can you speak a little bit on that and what you're seeing?
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: So um definitely there's the, you know, there's the I'm, you know, my background is uh I'm Indian and South Asian, uh, and our genetics are just predispose us to have an increase in visceral fat um content uh relative to you know lower lean mass, higher visceral fat content relative to other people of the same height, weight, um, uh, but a different ethnicity.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: And so um we've seen specifically, you know, in in in certain populations, but in general of people who are on a GLP and and and trying to lose that visceral fat, that there's initially a almost 10 to 20 percent drop in visceral fat before you you start noticing um any changes in in gen in total fat, total body fat, um, or even any changes, significant changes in in lean muscle.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: And so some of these uh responders to you know microdoses of GLP really does seem to lose the visceral fat component first, um, and and uh a good amount of it, you know, 10 to 20 percent, before you start noticing any changes in the muscle, um, if there is any kind of muscle changes and muscle mass loss.
- 47:00SPEAKER_00: Um and so it the the typically you know the visceral fat is the more stubborn fat.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: It's the harder fat to get rid of.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: It's not necessarily influenced by exercise so much as diet.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: Uh and so when you can have a a tool like a peptide that can help you with improving that weight loss initially, so then you can kind of jump start, you know, that body reconf by also maintaining, like you mentioned, a lifestyle change of uh of regular resistance training, some cardiovascular training, uh, and proper you know dieting.
- 47:35SPEAKER_00: Um, you could really make a lasting impact uh that that hopefully should be sustainable.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: Is it okay to have zero visceral fat around the organs?
- 47:46SPEAKER_00: Um it's it it's not bad to have a little bit.
- 47:51SPEAKER_00: Um it's almost impossible to have zero percent, but um, you know, it's it's necessary to kind of help to um cushion some of the the organs around, provide some of that immediate um, you know, when when there's no glucose, provide some of that nutrition for longer-term um uh fasting states, yeah, uh and energy stores.
- 48:13SPEAKER_00: So it's important to have a little bit.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: Typically, you know, um we recommend keeping the amount less than one pound.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: Um and that's typically what we see in the healthier profile.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: Um, but anything more than that, um, especially in males, because males tend to store more belly fat, um, it's important to it's important to cut that down.
- 48:35SPEAKER_00: Um and certain, like I mentioned, certain sub subpopulations, they're more predisposed to um you know effects of how holding visceral fat.
- 48:44SPEAKER_00: Um and so especially in if if there's certain types of um you know South Asians, it'd be important for them to really reduce that amount um more aggressively than someone else of a different background.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that makes complete sense.
- 48:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's interesting.
- 48:58SPEAKER_01: Stuff I never focused on.
- 48:59SPEAKER_01: You get in a scale and you don't really think about those things.
- 49:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and you know, the the ones that I'm excited about, you know, bone health, I think is such an important topic that seems to be kind of um getting some more attention recently.
- 49:11SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, there's uh some data from the CDC that says that um almost 20% of women uh at 50 or plus are affected by some level of low bone mineral density.
- 49:23SPEAKER_00: Um and there's some new peptides that are out there that are um target targeting you know increasing bone um production um at a at a later age.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: And you know, we're we're hoping to kind of be involved with some trials that may be testing that um because up until now the majority of the um treatment has been directed for people who have osteoporosis, right?
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: Uh the treatment has been directed towards reducing or slowing down that bone loss, but not really building it up.
- 49:53SPEAKER_00: Um and so to be able to, you know, have uh an intervention that could help potentially build it up in addition to the weight training and resistance exercise that um is also recommended for improving bone health, um, I think it's gonna be super fascinating.
- 50:08SPEAKER_01: So do you think this the middle-aged woman, is it because we're going through this hormonal shift?
- 50:11SPEAKER_01: Like what do you why do you think the middle-aged women all of a sudden their bone density goes down?
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's definitely related to um yeah, the changes in in estrogen um production and availability uh around the perimenopausal time and and the reliance of um yeah, uh bone turnover on some of those um hormones.
- 50:33SPEAKER_00: Um and so yeah, and unfortunately, because of um the way that the hormone changes so dramatically around perimenopause, uh, women are more so affected by it.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: Um and and the older, you know, each decade after 50, the risks of of um of low bone mass osteoporosis um increases pretty sharply.
- 50:55SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, ultimately that's that's dangerous for uh several reasons, but you know, ultimately one of the highest rates of morbidity are what um leads people into the hospital, um, which can lead to other complications, is you know, falling from a fract falling from a ground level wall that results in a fracture um that needs to be hospitalized.
- 51:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you hear that of older people, you know, they fell and broke a hip and they never kind of recover from that.
- 51:21SPEAKER_01: So, you know, I I do, I you know, I'm always the person we talk about this, like knowledge is power.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: I really encourage my clients like to get in there and like figure it out.
- 51:30SPEAKER_01: And also like, you know, and I can speak to myself, like it you gotta understand what's going on.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: You know, even for me, it's just like, okay, well, there's areas that I can work on, right?
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: From a hormonal level, I might want to shift some things.
- 51:42SPEAKER_01: So, like, hey, how maybe if I put on some more fat, will that help me support my hormones if I'm a middle-aged woman?
- 51:47SPEAKER_01: So it's like understanding what you're looking at.
- 51:51SPEAKER_01: And it's so easy for life to run away with you on all on all fronts, right?
- 51:55SPEAKER_01: To be all of a sudden you wake up and you're like, how am I overweight?
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: You know, how do I have so much visceral fat?
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Or the opposite, like, oh shoot, I'm getting a little frail here, right?
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Or I've lost, like, especially if you're on GLPs, oh, I've lost so much muscle.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: Like, you should know that ahead of time.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: Like, where are you starting with?
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: I think it's something we should talk a lot about.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: And I think it's really great that you provide this service because it's something that I think a lot of people don't know about unless someone says, like, hey, have you ever tried a DEXA scan?
- 52:23SPEAKER_01: Have you ever gone to a place like DEXA fit where they just they really walk you through it?
- 52:26SPEAKER_01: And like I said, I love that my three are compared and just all stacked up there.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: So it's like I can't wait to go again.
- 52:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, I let's see.
- 52:35SPEAKER_01: I went, when did I go?
- 52:36SPEAKER_01: I went in May.
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: Is it May?
- 52:38SPEAKER_00: So my next uh yeah, June.
- 52:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 52:41SPEAKER_01: So then I'll go June, July, August, September.
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: I'll probably go maybe again in October.
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: Um, and just kind of, you know, see where you are.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: I think too, especially like right now, I don't really have a ton of goals, but it's good to I like to just keep me more in check of kind of where we are.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: Um, and I encourage my parents to go.
- 52:59SPEAKER_01: I encourage like everybody.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: Where are you seeing the future?
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm assuming you're investing more of these with peptides and these scans.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: You know, why are most of your clients coming in?
- 53:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I think um, you know, right now we're we're primarily focused on the diagnostics of uh providing that data, that personalized health data.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: But, you know, having um partnerships with, you know, with the loop, uh people that are able to kind of provide that more intimate coaching, um, the analysis of different things that we can't we don't test for.
- 53:35SPEAKER_00: So the blood tests like you had mentioned, um, how to get them started on on um adjunct therapy that may also help you know get the get help help them reach their goals faster.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: Um, those things are they're not really in our wheelhouse.
- 53:48SPEAKER_00: And I think you know, having some kind of collaborative team to be able to provide that is so so important.
- 53:54SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, we we we've dabbled in wanting to try to help improve um, you know, uh people, patients, uh clients' understanding of how um a fitness training regimen would look.
- 54:06SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, we we dabbled in trying to trying that out.
- 54:10SPEAKER_00: But you know, there's there's people who uh and companies that exist that are much more um in tune with that, and that's kind of their main focus.
- 54:17SPEAKER_00: And I think that's that's what we're looking to kind of cultivate and build right now.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: And you know, ultimately, if that kind of redefines what you know a a wellness center is where we can have some diagnostic component to it, have some um therapy, IV uh therapy in addition to um kind of and coaching both for nutrition and um fitness training.
- 54:39SPEAKER_00: I think that's uh that that's the future of kind of bringing all this when in-house.
- 54:44SPEAKER_01: So I think you're I think that is your future, to be honest.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: Because at the end of the day, like I think it's great that we collab, and I talk about this a lot.
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: I'm all about linking arms, especially in the health and wellness that gets very cluttered and confusing for people.
- 54:59SPEAKER_01: Like, how do you keep it very simple?
- 55:01SPEAKER_01: And you and I both, we're all about education.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: And so my company is really let me educate you on peptides as a simple tool, as an you know, an option of where you can go to work on your, you know, a lot of the stuff, you know, equal to getting a TEXA scan, is looking at blood work.
- 55:16SPEAKER_01: You know, how do you really get your blood work down?
- 55:19SPEAKER_01: A lot of these doctors, when they see their clients' blood work who are on peptides, their jaw is on the ground.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: How did you do this?
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: You know, because they're working with clients on lifestyle.
- 55:28SPEAKER_01: Come on, you gotta get this down.
- 55:29SPEAKER_01: And then all of a sudden they go on a few peptides and implement, you know, some of the lifestyle, but nothing crazy.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: And all of a sudden their blood work comes back, you know, looking really good.
- 55:40SPEAKER_01: Their DEXA scans look better.
- 55:42SPEAKER_01: Like we all want it together if we're in the health and wellness field and your doctors as well as everyone needs to be trending in the right direction, right?
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: That's it's not it's about being optimized for who we are, what age we are, and you want to be trending correctly.
- 55:54SPEAKER_01: We do not want, like, I like my little adverse cross in the middle of my DEXA scan.
- 55:59SPEAKER_01: Like, you don't want to see everything headed in the wrong direction.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: So, you know, especially with peptides, if you're spending all this money on them, like you want to make sure they're working and you're also not getting yourself into a situation because you're not doing these other things when it comes to bone density, muscle loss, all that kind of stuff.
- 56:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I I I agree 100%.
- 56:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's um it's to make sure that yeah, you're you're kind of progressing each year in the right direction.
- 56:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and it's not about making dramatic changes.
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: No.
- 56:28SPEAKER_00: But you know, personalized health, um, it it's it's personalized.
- 56:33SPEAKER_00: It requires accurate information so you can make accurate decisions.
- 56:37SPEAKER_00: Um and I I think you know, it it's it's a combination of getting the right data and then also understanding what to do with it.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, I I exit fit can provide the data, and someone like you and and your company loop can can really help to guide them to the to the goals uh using that data.
- 56:56SPEAKER_01: Which is perfect.
- 56:56SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna provide a code um so you guys can go get a discount, and also you're gonna be part of our loop health community where they get a lot of discounts.
- 57:04SPEAKER_01: I want to make this to something that, like I said, as a coach and my coaches, we talk about, we encourage people to go to.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: We have a huge following in Newport Beach.
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: And so I know they'll be coming to you.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: I will send them all to you guys.
- 57:16SPEAKER_01: I know you might, you know, just for our listeners, it's easy to go and find a place.
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: I want you to make sure though they're spending the time talking to you about the scan.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: Because you walk out, and I don't care, go you put in your AI, it's not the same as someone really helping you interpret it, and then also being able to put on the screen, okay, look, this is where you'll see changes.
- 57:36SPEAKER_01: Because I look at it sometimes with my own eyes and you get a little snapshot.
- 57:40SPEAKER_01: But when I was sitting down with, I don't know if you taught call them a technician or a doctor, or what we want to call them, but the amount of time they spent with me was so appropriate to the cost of it and very appreciated.
