- 0:00All right, and welcome back.
- 0:03So here's the deal, right?
- 0:04You can have the house, the relationship, the kids, the career.
- 0:08and yet still wake up in the middle of the night with a quiet ache in your chest.
- 0:14You know, really like something's missing, but maybe you can't quite name what.
- 0:21It's something I actually see over and over again.
- 0:25It's men who did everything right.
- 0:28They built the life they were told would make them happy.
- 0:32And yet, when all the busyness fades, what they feel isn't peace.
- 0:38It's emptiness and not the good kind.
- 0:43So I'm speaking to you if that really resonates.
- 0:48And I want you to know you're not broken.
- 0:51You're just disconnected from the one thing men are starving for right now.
- 0:57Brotherhood.
- 1:00Men today are the loneliest they've ever been.
- 1:04Fifteen percent of men say they have no close friends.
- 1:09That number used to just be 3% in the 90s.
- 1:12Suicide rates?
- 1:14Four times higher in men than women right now.
- 1:18And frankly, isolation raises your risk of early death as much as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
- 1:26It's a big deal.
- 1:28And we call it a mental health crisis, but underneath, what it really is, is a connection crisis.
- 1:36Because connection is medicine for the male nervous system.
- 1:41We're wired for it.
- 1:43Vasopressin, the bonding hormone, floods our system when we face challenge with other men.
- 1:51That's why teams, military units, training partners, they feel so vitalizing and alive for us guys.
- 1:59Our biology lights up when we go shoulder to shoulder.
- 2:03facing challenge with purpose and other men.
- 2:06But most men don't have that anymore.
- 2:09And when we lose it, life loses its color
- 2:14From boyhood, we were told, right?
- 2:17Be strong, handle your shit, don't need anyone.
- 2:20That armor kept us alive when we were young.
- 2:23I've talked about this before.
- 2:25But eventually it becomes our cage.
- 2:28And the same walls that protect us from pain also block us from love.
- 2:35The same independence that makes us so capable can quietly leave us feeling so alone.
- 2:43The man who never needs anyone can't be deeply known by anyone.
- 2:49And when no one really knows you, your fears, your failures, your truth.
- 2:55Life stops feeling like it matters.
- 2:58What brings men back to life isn't just another achievement.
- 3:02It's actually being witnessed.
- 3:05When another man looks you in the eyes and says, Yeah, I've been there.
- 3:10Something ancient in you relaxes.
- 3:13The mask drops.
- 3:15The body softens.
- 3:18You remember who you are.
- 3:20I've seen it hundreds of times in the work I do with men.
- 3:24And it's really that moment a man finally shares the story he's been hiding for years.
- 3:31And another man doesn't even flinch.
- 3:34No fixing, no judgment, just presence.
- 3:39And when a man does that, he walks out of that interaction taller.
- 3:45That's not just therapy.
- 3:47That's part of our biology and wiring.
- 3:49Brotherhood reawakens what the modern world has shut down inside of us.
- 3:56But it's not even just about being accepted.
- 4:00We as men also long to be challenged.
- 4:03We want brothers.
- 4:06Who won't let us hide, men who love us enough to confront us with care, right?
- 4:13To bring care and confrontation in the same breath
- 4:18Every man I know secretly wants that moment when another guy looks him in the eyes and says, brother, I love you and you're full of shit right now.
- 4:27That is how we often feel the deepest love.
- 4:30That is devotion.
- 4:32Because in that moment, something inside us wakes up.
- 4:36We remember our integrity.
- 4:38We remember what it means to live at our edge.
- 4:41And without that kind of feedback, life dulls.
- 4:45No one calls you to be higher.
- 4:47No one helps you sharpen.
- 4:50Real men's groups, they're right, we say iron sharpens iron.
- 4:54They're like forges, they're where we're built, places where love and challenge can coexist.
- 5:01and where we can lay down our armor.
- 5:04And then when it's time, pick up the sword again.
- 5:08And here's the other side of that coin.
- 5:10It's really not all just about confrontation.
- 5:14Most men don't realize how starved they are for a place to celebrate, for space where your wind actually land.
- 5:22Where you can say, I got that raise, or I finally told my wife the truth, and have other men nod along with you feel it and celebrate you for it.
- 5:34Not dismiss it, not joke it off, but really celebrate it.
- 5:38We need places like that as men.
- 5:42Where success isn't downplayed or ignored, but honored.
- 5:48Because masculine celebration isn't bragging, it's fuel.
- 5:52For ourselves and for each other.
- 5:55It's how we anchor the progress and achievement we've earned.
- 5:59And here's the other deal that kind of ties this all together
- 6:03The masculine inside of all of us, right?
- 6:06It grows through tussle.
- 6:09When we were boys, it's wrestling, sparring, testing limits, jumping off of things, pushing each other.
- 6:16The truth is we learn through friction, through play, through sport, through really getting to our edge.
- 6:24And that's not just random.
- 6:27That was training for how to be in the world.
- 6:30We were learning how to hold tension, how to compete with respect, and how to recover after conflict
- 6:37We're learning how to stay connected in intensity.
- 6:40That's the gift of childhood play.
- 6:43As adults, most men lose that
- 6:47But a men's group, right, something I talk about a lot, brings it back.
- 6:52Not through fists, but through the truth, through feedback, accountability, through getting clear on our purpose.
- 7:00It's how we keep our edges sharp without cutting each other.
- 7:04It's play and purpose fused together, right?
- 7:08This is the grown man's dojo
- 7:12So, if you've been grinding, doing it hard, doing everything right, and life still feels empty, maybe, just maybe, it's not about doing more.
- 7:25Maybe it's about belonging more.
- 7:29Because the opposite of emptiness is not success.
- 7:33It's connection that includes challenge, celebration, tussle and play.
- 7:38And when you have men who witness your truth,
- 7:41Call out your bullshit and cheer you on when you rise.
- 7:45You stop drifting, you start leading, and that quiet ache inside you finally begins to ease.
- 7:53I know because it's happened to me.
- 7:56And that's why I've created the men's group experience.
- 7:59A 12-week journey into real brotherhood
- 8:04Six men, weekly Zoom calls, deep connection, honest feedback, and real celebration.
- 8:11In the first six weeks,
- 8:12I guide you through videos.
- 8:14But in the last six weeks, you guys lead yourselves.
- 8:18Because the goal isn't dependence, it's initiation.
- 8:22So if you've been listening and thinking, yeah, that's me, consider this invitation.
- 8:27Join us.
- 8:28You don't have to do this all alone.
- 8:30Just head over to men's.
- 8:32group to grab your spot in the next cohort.
- 8:35Remember, you're not broken, you're probably just disconnected from brotherhood, from care and confrontation, from celebration, and from playful tussle.
- 8:48Reconnection is the work, and brotherhood is the way.
- 8:54All right, until next time.
