- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, Tileer readers. This is to all the men I've
- 0:23Speaker 1: tolerated to before. With Nanley Katona, your weekly look at
- 0:26Speaker 1: everyday misogyny. We have Kat Steinberg as our guest today,
- 0:30Speaker 1: another great creative I've met through my writing journey. Kat
- 0:34Speaker 1: is the editor in chief of She Knows, an inclusive
- 0:37Speaker 1: community for parents that recognizes the challenges that living a full, vibrant,
- 0:42Speaker 1: busy mom life presents while also acknowledging the good stuff.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Kat is here today to talk about women's media, something
- 0:50Speaker 1: we're calling the trust economy, and the importance of women
- 0:54Speaker 1: led media.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Kat.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Welcome to the team.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Oh, thank you so much for having me, Natalie, that
- 1:01Speaker 2: was a wonderful introduction.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much. This is the second team
- 1:08Speaker 1: we've been on because we were in a writing cohort together,
- 1:12Speaker 1: so it's just nice to spend time with you.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's nice to spend time with you too. And not
- 1:17Speaker 2: only were we in a cohort, it was a small
- 1:19Speaker 2: group and we met at ten pm, which was so
- 1:23Speaker 2: late for me. It was a real labor of love
- 1:26Speaker 2: to start working and turn my brain back on from
- 1:30Speaker 2: ten to eleven. So great to be here at a
- 1:33Speaker 2: reasonable hour.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Also, when I flew out to Alabama to be in
- 1:39Speaker 1: Chelsea Davante's first movie. I think I'm allowed to talk
- 1:42Speaker 1: about it now. I don't even know. Several people have
- 1:47Speaker 1: seen the movie and we're like, you're there, You're in there,
- 1:50Speaker 1: we can see your full face. So I think I
- 1:53Speaker 1: did to.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Take a movie at south By Southwest, and I want
- 1:56Speaker 2: to say it's an instant classic. I know I might
- 1:59Speaker 2: be biased, but I can't help it. Like being in
- 2:03Speaker 2: her writing cohort, my expectations were already sky high and
- 2:07Speaker 2: it exceeded all of them, Like it's just a beautiful
- 2:10Speaker 2: ode to female friendship.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Yes, and it was so funny, the one scene that
- 2:15Speaker 1: I got to see over and over again because I'm
- 2:17Speaker 1: in it, and so I cannot wait until I get
- 2:22Speaker 1: to see it in all of its glory. But when
- 2:25Speaker 1: I got to Alabama and I showed up with a
- 2:28Speaker 1: full face of makeup and an actual coordinated outfit to Kara,
- 2:32Speaker 1: our Mentor was like, that's a new look for you,
- 2:34Speaker 1: and I was like, well, that's because you see me
- 2:36Speaker 1: at nine pm shrouded in a blanket with my cat
- 2:40Speaker 1: fighting me because I'm back on the computer.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I love that you got to meet Takara in person.
- 2:48Speaker 2: She is also the best.
- 2:50Speaker 1: She's the best. They were all the best, Maria's dancing videos, everybody, everybody,
- 2:55Speaker 1: it was the best. But enough about them, they're not here.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Why don't you talk about a little bit more about yourself.
- 3:04Speaker 1: She media, and she knows and give people the timeline,
- 3:08Speaker 1: the background, all of it.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It sounds great. So I have been in media for
- 3:16Speaker 2: way too long. I was there for I feel like
- 3:19Speaker 2: the dawn of the Internet, and I worked at places.
- 3:24Speaker 2: My first job actually was in print at The Week magazine,
- 3:27Speaker 2: which was a very cool job, and I got to
- 3:31Speaker 2: work with such an eclectic bunch of people. We were
- 3:34Speaker 2: doing the news of the week, and we'd scan all
- 3:37Speaker 2: these different clips and it was a way for me
- 3:40Speaker 2: to sort of understand a little bit about what we're
- 3:42Speaker 2: talking about today, how different publications portray the same event. Yeah,
- 3:49Speaker 2: so it was like a really interesting lesson in perspective
- 3:52Speaker 2: and editing and just understanding the different points of view
- 3:56Speaker 2: and the voices of each of the different magazines because
- 3:58Speaker 2: we consolidated it. And then from and then I really
- 4:00Speaker 2: entered the women's lifestyle space hard. I went to I
- 4:03Speaker 2: Village and Aol, I worked on a TV show aimed
- 4:08Speaker 2: at women's lifestyle concerns. I went to Nickelodeon. I actually
- 4:13Speaker 2: even wrote some musicals and plays with a friend that
- 4:16Speaker 2: I met at AOL. I took a little bit of
- 4:20Speaker 2: a detour and did some amazing work supporting immigrants and
- 4:25Speaker 2: immigrants rights at a nonprofit for six years, and then
- 4:28Speaker 2: I came back to media to run She Knows because
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm just really interested in what it's like to raise
- 4:35Speaker 2: a teenager, being that I have one. I have a
- 4:37Speaker 2: twelve year old, and I think that there's a lot
- 4:40Speaker 2: of parenting information out there for when you're pregnant and
- 4:45Speaker 2: when you have a really young toddler, and there's a
- 4:48Speaker 2: real need for community and support, but a lot of
- 4:51Speaker 2: times people who have teenagers need the same amount of support,
- 4:55Speaker 2: and I didn't see a space for that, and I
- 4:57Speaker 2: thought She Knows was becoming that space where I could
- 5:00Speaker 2: get all the expert advice. I could also learn from
- 5:03Speaker 2: our Team Counsel, which is a group of one hundred
- 5:07Speaker 2: and twenty teenagers that informs us about what are they thinking,
- 5:11Speaker 2: what are the trends, what are they wish parents knew
- 5:13Speaker 2: about them, how are they relating to the world. And
- 5:16Speaker 2: because your own kid's certainly not going to tell you
- 5:18Speaker 2: at home ever, they're going to close the door. She
- 5:23Speaker 2: knows it's going to help you understand. And we really
- 5:25Speaker 2: aim to be that connective tissue between parent and teenager
- 5:29Speaker 2: and just support you on this journey when everybody's hormones
- 5:32Speaker 2: are crazy. Everyone's hormones are out of control, and it
- 5:35Speaker 2: just makes for like a banana soup.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I So I used to teach, and I taught
- 5:43Speaker 1: kindergarten for one year and then I was like no,
- 5:47Speaker 1: And then I went to fourth grade where they can
- 5:49Speaker 1: use pencils and like describe things to you. But while
- 5:54Speaker 1: I was teaching, I did our middle school drama club
- 5:58Speaker 1: and so with teenagers. And then when I moved from
- 6:01Speaker 1: teaching to working in theater, I did our after school
- 6:05Speaker 1: camps and our summer camps, and those were mainly also
- 6:08Speaker 1: geared towards teens. And I very rarely get nostalgic for
- 6:12Speaker 1: like how I used to like be the hip lady
- 6:16Speaker 1: that made all the teens dreams come true when it
- 6:18Speaker 1: came to like theater. But my sister has recently just
- 6:24Speaker 1: started teaching middle school and her and I were talking
- 6:26Speaker 1: about her students yesterday, and I was like, sometimes I
- 6:29Speaker 1: do miss it because I feel like I feel like
- 6:33Speaker 1: I am constantly like why isn't there a twenty twenty
- 6:38Speaker 1: six version of now? And then how will the girls
- 6:42Speaker 1: learn that they're the most important to one another? And
- 6:46Speaker 1: then a teenager should be able to pop up and
- 6:49Speaker 1: be like, miss Standley, you're being crazy. The movie you
- 6:53Speaker 1: are describing is this current movie? And I'd be like,
- 6:56Speaker 1: you're right, I didn't know that. I don't have cable anymore.
- 7:00Speaker 2: Who does? But I would want to know what that
- 7:02Speaker 2: movie is and I want to rent it, or maybe
- 7:04Speaker 2: I don't, I want the option to rent it.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, And then sometimes I'm on Netflix and it feels
- 7:10Speaker 1: like teen horror is having a resurgence, which I love.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Teen horror race is. Yeah. And the last time I
- 7:18Speaker 1: interacted with teens or even I just college age youth.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I went to the reboot of I Know What You
- 7:25Speaker 1: Did last summer. Oh, and these girls watched the movie.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It was probably two o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon, because
- 7:34Speaker 1: I go to cheap movie Day and I go when
- 7:36Speaker 1: I hope no one else is going, And so these
- 7:40Speaker 1: two young women were sitting next to me, and I
- 7:42Speaker 1: could hear them as the credits were rolling be confused
- 7:46Speaker 1: about the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise
- 7:49Speaker 1: and I had just listened to a podcast episode about it,
- 7:53Speaker 1: and I and teen slashers are like my passion. So
- 7:57Speaker 1: I was like, well, actually, the original I Know What
- 8:01Speaker 1: You Did Last Summer was a very bad adaptation of
- 8:06Speaker 1: a book. But then the guy who was writing the
- 8:09Speaker 1: movie got obsessed with the Hookman folklore, so he took
- 8:13Speaker 1: the folklore of the hook Man and he took this
- 8:16Speaker 1: book and he made what sub would argue a terrible movie,
- 8:22Speaker 1: but a movie that I love to watch. And I
- 8:25Speaker 1: loved this movie because it played into all of the
- 8:28Speaker 1: nostalgia of the first movie. And they're like, you're telling
- 8:30Speaker 1: me that there's an original movie of this, and I
- 8:33Speaker 1: was like, I'm telling you that there's upward to like
- 8:36Speaker 1: five other movies in this franchise.
- 8:40Speaker 2: I think you're doing the most important work.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I was like, and they're all on Netflix. Because I
- 8:47Speaker 1: watched the first two before I showed up today.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I didn't know how deeply you were embedded in the
- 8:55Speaker 2: teen space. So can I ask you a slang question?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Because we also we posted teen slang the week because
- 9:03Speaker 2: there's some translation necessary for sure, And I hear at
- 9:06Speaker 2: home a lot chat which might not be old or new,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and I'm curious, what words have you learned?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Oh good lord, it's so hard because I and it's
- 9:20Speaker 1: probably again whatever spectrum of my brain is on or
- 9:23Speaker 1: deep emotional trauma. But I just adapt everyone's vernacular. If
- 9:28Speaker 1: I spend more than two days in Nashville, I come
- 9:31Speaker 1: out sounding like Dolly Parton because I just want all
- 9:34Speaker 1: of Nashville to accept me. So I just go into
- 9:38Speaker 1: stores and I'm like, hey, y'all and they're like and
- 9:41Speaker 1: people are like, where did this accent come from? And
- 9:43Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm just trying to fit in. So I
- 9:45Speaker 1: don't know. Every once in a while, my sister will
- 9:49Speaker 1: throw out middle school slain. I know that six' seven
- 9:53Speaker 1: is currently a big, one BUT i also know that
- 9:55Speaker 1: it has no. Definition they just say it to say
- 9:59Speaker 1: it to infuriate.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Us, yes, yes that's all. True and six, SEVEN i
- 10:05Speaker 2: think is on the. Decline so you, know, listeners send
- 10:10Speaker 2: in your guesses as to what the next six seven
- 10:12Speaker 2: is going to. BE i am.
- 10:13Speaker 1: CURIOUS i don't, know BUT i do, like, oh WHEN
- 10:19Speaker 1: i used to like CALL i, missed like the slaying
- 10:22Speaker 1: of the pandemic when we were all calling things like
- 10:25Speaker 1: bangers and bops AND i was like that slaps like
- 10:30Speaker 1: these very active slaves that my friends were, like you
- 10:34Speaker 1: have to stop calling things a bop And i'm, like
- 10:35Speaker 1: it's a, mood it's a, vibe it's a. Bop they're, like.
- 10:38Speaker 2: NO i love. Bop we're going to keep.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Bop we got to keep. It like there was such
- 10:44Speaker 1: wholesome slaying happening during the pandemic And i'm, like bring that.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Back but it's a beautiful.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Thing, yeah it's a beautiful. THING I so we are
- 10:55Speaker 1: here today to talk about she, knows and you've already
- 11:01Speaker 1: started to touch on how it's different than other mom
- 11:04Speaker 1: focused media because you are making sure to cover motherhood
- 11:08Speaker 1: in the entire spectrum and not WHAT i would call like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: mommy BECAUSE i feel like there are a lot of
- 11:15Speaker 1: mommy blogs that you're right are peered towards toddler's and
- 11:19Speaker 1: currently my nephews are only three and one years, old
- 11:22Speaker 1: SO i only have access to toddlers. Currently BUT i
- 11:27Speaker 1: do know that my three year old is bossy now
- 11:30Speaker 1: and he's going to boss me like hell when he's.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Thirteen oh, Yeah and you, know my daughter showed who
- 11:40Speaker 2: she was before she was a year and it's the
- 11:43Speaker 2: exact same. Person and just to be, clear there's a
- 11:47Speaker 2: deep need when your kids are toddlers for all these
- 11:51Speaker 2: publications and support and, advice AND i just think there's
- 11:55Speaker 2: less of it when your kids are. Teenagers but they're
- 11:58Speaker 2: the same. People they just have this need to. Individuate
- 12:01Speaker 2: they're trying to find, independence they're wanting, boundaries but they
- 12:06Speaker 2: need to push against. Them it's just a complicated. Moment
- 12:10Speaker 2: and because they're experiencing so, much LIKE i, said, hormones
- 12:14Speaker 2: but more than that, too they have a different world
- 12:17Speaker 2: to grow up. In you, know WHEN i was growing,
- 12:19Speaker 2: up my parents had no idea WHERE i was at any,
- 12:22Speaker 2: time never, ever and you just had to meet your
- 12:25Speaker 2: friends and agree to meet there and that was. It
- 12:28Speaker 2: there was no constant. Contact and if you weren't invited
- 12:31Speaker 2: to a, party you didn't necessarily know it until much,
- 12:35Speaker 2: later until somebody slipped up and mentioned the party in
- 12:39Speaker 2: person in your. Face so it's just a very different
- 12:42Speaker 2: environment with different. Stressors AND i think as a, parent
- 12:45Speaker 2: when you grew up in a very different, time which
- 12:48Speaker 2: is every. Generation it's important for you to understand how
- 12:54Speaker 2: your kid is, responding and that's a tough. Job so
- 12:57Speaker 2: we really do rely on the advice of. Experts we
- 13:00Speaker 2: also rely on kids that are not our own to
- 13:02Speaker 2: help us and help, them you, know be more. Candid they're, like,
- 13:06Speaker 2: well you're not my parents, either SO i can tell
- 13:08Speaker 2: you what's really.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Happening, yeah which is so. Special AND i love when
- 13:14Speaker 1: kids have a like a safe space to kind of
- 13:16Speaker 1: like let it go and like maybe ask an adult
- 13:19Speaker 1: for help BECAUSE i. Don't the team media THAT i
- 13:24Speaker 1: was taking in was not Just. Slashers it was also
- 13:27Speaker 1: The Pretty Little, liars the One Tree, Hills oh left,
- 13:30Speaker 1: It And i'm, like where are all these? Parents no
- 13:32Speaker 1: one has talked to a parent in? Seasons and my.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Hot take for what was the show With? Belly why
- 13:42Speaker 2: AM i blanking on the.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Name with oh H, NOW i know what you can
- 13:49Speaker 1: Edit the SUMMER I Turned Pretty summer.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Hated my hot take for the summer THAT i Turn
- 13:57Speaker 2: pretty is that the best relationship was With belly's mom And,
- 14:02Speaker 2: conrad BECAUSE i thought it was really beautiful How connord
- 14:08Speaker 2: was going through all this stuff and he turned To belly's,
- 14:12Speaker 2: mom whose, Name i'm Also.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Laurel, right, yeah it's something like, that and it might
- 14:18Speaker 1: Be laurel BECAUSE i can PICTURE tv Clueless. Laurel.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah there was one scene in the car between them
- 14:28Speaker 2: AND i was, LIKE i REALLY i thought it was
- 14:31Speaker 2: just like a beautiful depiction of exactly what you. Said
- 14:33Speaker 2: it was a vulnerable, space a safe. Space and the
- 14:38Speaker 2: car honestly is WHERE i get the most information. Too
- 14:41Speaker 2: it's something about being able to both of you look straight.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Ahead it's like this very parallel play and kids will
- 14:47Speaker 2: really tell you a. LOT i feel like a car
- 14:48Speaker 2: ride is WHERE i get the most, information and being
- 14:51Speaker 2: In New, york it's really hard to get a car
- 14:53Speaker 2: ride In.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, no uh. NO i Watched The summer AND i
- 14:58Speaker 1: turned pretty in like a fuch, state AND i was, like,
- 15:01Speaker 1: Wow Team media is way prettier than it was WHEN
- 15:04Speaker 1: i was growing. Up and it just wraps up real
- 15:08Speaker 1: quick because they only have ten. EPISODES i, GO i
- 15:11Speaker 1: had to. Watch my sister tried to Rewatch One Tree
- 15:13Speaker 1: hill and she called me and she, GOES i just
- 15:16Speaker 1: watched an entire episode and it was Just lucas And nathan,
- 15:19Speaker 1: walking AND i was, like, yeah because they're mad At
- 15:22Speaker 1: dan and why do you kick them off the? Bus
- 15:26Speaker 1: and she's like, okay but it was fifty minutes of
- 15:28Speaker 1: them just. Walking AND i was, like, ah that's called
- 15:32Speaker 1: a filler. EPISODE i. Go when you have twenty four episodes,
- 15:35Speaker 1: seasons hitt have something happening in every, episode that's.
- 15:39Speaker 2: MADNESS i, know we got a full twenty two to
- 15:43Speaker 2: twenty four. EPISODES i, mean we didn't know how good
- 15:46Speaker 2: we had. It Now i'm lucky IF i get. Eight.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah anything in your great.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Episodes was my so called life that one season that
- 15:53Speaker 2: would be like three seasons now OF.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Tv yeah, Yeah well in De, grassy episodes are like
- 15:59Speaker 1: thirty episodes, long the, good like the old Fashioned. Grassy it's.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Incredible i'm ready for a renaissance of team. Shows hopefully
- 16:10Speaker 2: co watching, too because, clearly look at, Us i'm watching
- 16:14Speaker 2: the same. STUFF i want a, good you, know twenty episode,
- 16:18Speaker 2: run that's WHAT i. WANT i want people.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Walking the only REASON i got to See One Tree
- 16:24Speaker 1: hill in its entirety when it's syndicated is because we
- 16:28Speaker 1: got the soap network for a mistake one, summer like
- 16:31Speaker 1: it just added itself to our cable SO i would
- 16:34Speaker 1: wake up it'd be like three episodes Of, charm three
- 16:38Speaker 1: episodes Of One Tree, hill and then three episodes Of
- 16:40Speaker 1: Beverlee hills NINE o two one. Oh so my mom
- 16:43Speaker 1: would also just sit down and be like is it
- 16:45Speaker 1: nine oh two one oh? Yet AND i was, like,
- 16:47Speaker 1: no and you missed? Er she's, like din. It and
- 16:53Speaker 1: that's HOW i got to watch all the. Shows but
- 16:55Speaker 1: you have to commit your entire body to the, lineup
- 16:59Speaker 1: WHICH i think is something else that kids are missing.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Nowadays they don't have to dedicate time. Slots, no if
- 17:06Speaker 1: you missed, it that was. It if you missed, it
- 17:08Speaker 1: that was. IT i, mean right, NOW i guess we have,
- 17:11Speaker 1: Euphoria but that show stresses me. Out that was a
- 17:16Speaker 1: hard watch for. Me, yeah And i'm still watching it this.
- 17:19Speaker 1: Season i'm not sure. WHY i think it's just to
- 17:22Speaker 1: remain in the. Discourse but that is my worst? Nightmare
- 17:27Speaker 1: is a? Parent, well also it should be like a
- 17:29Speaker 1: team's worst. Nightmare, yeah what are the teens think About?
- 17:35Speaker 2: Euphoria i'm gonna ask them right after.
- 17:39Speaker 1: This please do tell me, more please. Do i'm too
- 17:42Speaker 1: scared to start season three because of all the stills
- 17:45Speaker 1: THAT i just keep seeing of, it And i'm like
- 17:47Speaker 1: maybe season three isn't for.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Me season three has really taken a. Turn.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah when we were growing up and we were
- 17:57Speaker 1: these teens that our mothers had to or someone had
- 18:01Speaker 1: to raise, us how do you think misogyny shaped our
- 18:07Speaker 1: mother's experience when it came to like mother based or
- 18:11Speaker 1: women based.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Media, yeah that's a really interesting question BECAUSE i see
- 18:17Speaker 2: a lot of the same things coming back THAT i
- 18:20Speaker 2: dealt with as a, kid one being the Iconic Cape moss.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Quote nothing tastes as good as skinny. Feels AND i
- 18:32Speaker 2: think my, family but also probably many families had this
- 18:37Speaker 2: unconscious pressure on their daughters or. Sons who, knows BUT
- 18:43Speaker 2: i can speak from my experience as a girl growing
- 18:46Speaker 2: up in this world or someone who identifies as a.
- 18:49Speaker 2: WOMAN i consumed a lot of media with people who
- 18:54Speaker 2: were impossibly. Thin, yeah and that was almost, encouraged you.
- 19:01Speaker 2: KNOW i can say my mom was on and off
- 19:04Speaker 2: weight watchers, frequently AND i enjoyed those frozen, meals the chicken.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Fettucini you, know it was, delish. INCREDIBLE i loved. It
- 19:16Speaker 2: but those products sent a, message, right all of the
- 19:22Speaker 2: THINGS i was. CONSUMING i think even on NINE o two, one,
- 19:24Speaker 2: oh there were episodes About. Bolimia there were episodes about
- 19:31Speaker 2: just trying to be As hollywood beautiful as you could,
- 19:35Speaker 2: be and that really sunk in and colored my. Existence
- 19:39Speaker 2: AND i think it just speaks to the power of.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Media granted we were all watching the same thing because
- 19:45Speaker 2: we had put four or five, channels BUT i don't
- 19:51Speaker 2: THINK i received a lot of counter programming about, it
- 19:55Speaker 2: and that's. DIFFICULT i don't know how you viewed.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It, NO i very much remember there being a lot
- 20:05Speaker 1: of you, know are we still allowed to say heroin
- 20:08Speaker 1: che because that's what the nineties was it. Was and
- 20:13Speaker 1: my sister AND i just had a pretty in depth
- 20:16Speaker 1: conversation because we are two women who have always lived
- 20:18Speaker 1: in bigger, bodies and we were talking about, how, like you,
- 20:22Speaker 1: know our bodies have been smaller than they are, currently
- 20:24Speaker 1: they've been bigger than they are, currently and at the
- 20:28Speaker 1: end of the, day it never improved or hindered our
- 20:32Speaker 1: life that. Much but the world wants you to be
- 20:35Speaker 1: so convinced that it. Does like no one wants you
- 20:39Speaker 1: to be in a in a bigger, body and just like,
- 20:42Speaker 1: content let alone, happy and every it feels like every
- 20:49Speaker 1: time someone in my peripheral life like really dedicates themselves
- 20:55Speaker 1: to a diet or a TikTok cleanse or exert sizing
- 21:00Speaker 1: more than they are used. To that, like it becomes
- 21:05Speaker 1: such a topic in our relationship and the relationship surrounding, me, like,
- 21:10Speaker 1: well you, know so and so is training for a five,
- 21:13Speaker 1: K and THEN i just, go you, KNOW i hate,
- 21:16Speaker 1: running AND i don't understand why it's a. Hobby, NO
- 21:21Speaker 1: i don't like. It the Fastest i've ever ran IS
- 21:24Speaker 1: i was on the elliptical AND i was Reading The,
- 21:27Speaker 1: martian and every Time mars got really tense for, him
- 21:31Speaker 1: my heart rate would also, spike AND i just found
- 21:33Speaker 1: myself moving, faster like to try and get the chapter with,
- 21:38Speaker 1: over like or something, like oh, NO i don't like,
- 21:40Speaker 1: this so Now i'm running, faster just in. Solidarity but
- 21:44Speaker 1: it's truly the only TIME i felt called to.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Run and was that the one where they form potatoes potatoes, yeah,
- 21:52Speaker 2: yeah And mars and it was all that, starch just
- 21:56Speaker 2: forcing your body.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Emotionally, EMOTIONALLY i just really he felt for, him and
- 22:02Speaker 1: it's the last TIME i felt something for a. Man
- 22:08Speaker 1: BUT i do feel like it's so and now you're
- 22:13Speaker 1: raising a twelve year old, yeah AND i feel LIKE
- 22:17Speaker 1: i feel like WHEN i was growing, up my mother
- 22:19Speaker 1: never talked to me about bodies, directly but the world
- 22:26Speaker 1: and how the world made her feel about her body
- 22:30Speaker 1: made me, go, oh MAYBE i should be feeling about
- 22:33Speaker 1: my body a certain. Way and if she was doing weight,
- 22:36Speaker 1: WATCHERS i too was doing weight. Watchers she used to
- 22:39Speaker 1: bribe me to go to curves with, like she'd be,
- 22:43Speaker 1: like the bead stores just next, door and if you
- 22:45Speaker 1: do the whole, Circuit i'll give you twenty dollars to go.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Wild because the flip side of being a mother is
- 22:52Speaker 1: you have to do something with these kids in order
- 22:54Speaker 1: to do something that you want to. Do so IF
- 22:58Speaker 1: i had to be somewhere when she was going to,
- 23:00Speaker 1: curves so she was, like, so now go to curves
- 23:02Speaker 1: with me and we'll go to The barnes And noble.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Afterwards BUT i do feel it coming, back AND i
- 23:10Speaker 1: FIND i loved pandemic TikTok it was so fun and
- 23:15Speaker 1: we were all just dancing and making funny. Noises but
- 23:19Speaker 1: now every third TikTok ad is just like, a, hey
- 23:24Speaker 1: did you get this lip? Plumper And i'm, like, no
- 23:26Speaker 1: my lips don't need to be plumped or hey do
- 23:31Speaker 1: you have this slimming swimsuit and it's, like, NO i.
- 23:36Speaker 1: DON'T i have a regular. Swimsuit AND i.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Think to some, degree media doesn't always create the, problem
- 23:45Speaker 2: but it reflects back the problems that are already emerging
- 23:51Speaker 2: that have come from social media or you, know trends
- 23:57Speaker 2: that are somewhat out of our, control and are is to, say,
- 24:01Speaker 2: hey this is, Happening we're going to cover, it and
- 24:04Speaker 2: we're going to reflect back what we see happening in.
- 24:06Speaker 2: SOCIETY i also think there are moments when the media
- 24:09Speaker 2: can be problematic in terms of what photos you select
- 24:13Speaker 2: of a celebrity can really tell a different, story and
- 24:16Speaker 2: it can tell a specific story and what the caption
- 24:19Speaker 2: is under. That you, know if you see an emaciated
- 24:21Speaker 2: skeleton walking down a runway and or at a red,
- 24:24Speaker 2: carpet are you, saying you, know looks? Amazing and that
- 24:29Speaker 2: sends a message to young people all over the.
- 24:32Speaker 1: World, well and another thing that's currently happening to young
- 24:37Speaker 1: people all over the, world but mostly in this, country
- 24:41Speaker 1: is that we're killing media literacy on. Purpose so as
- 24:46Speaker 1: a thirty seven year old this past, Year i've lived
- 24:50Speaker 1: Through taylor swift announcing an engagement and a new album
- 24:56Speaker 1: of the movie centers being an undeniable box office smash
- 25:01Speaker 1: hit and things like. That And i've watched publications that
- 25:06Speaker 1: were usually pretty LIKE i could trust this, publication be, like,
- 25:11Speaker 1: Actually sinners is a bad, movie because why would vampires
- 25:17Speaker 1: ever be in The south of all? Places and it's,
- 25:21Speaker 1: Like i'm pretty sure that's where all the vampires. Are
- 25:24Speaker 1: that was my. Understanding that's What Anne rice told. ME
- 25:28Speaker 1: i believe An, rice BELIEVE i believe. Women and, then you,
- 25:33Speaker 1: know at thirty seven years, OLD i also have to
- 25:35Speaker 1: live with the fact that new people are Finding Anne
- 25:38Speaker 1: rice's literature and being, like, nanty this is fucked. Up
- 25:41Speaker 1: And i'm, LIKE i, know and my mom handed it
- 25:43Speaker 1: to me WHEN i was fourteen to be LIKE i
- 25:46Speaker 1: like these books and you will, too BUT i and honestly,
- 25:54Speaker 1: LIKE i don't want to slip like slander. Anyone but
- 25:57Speaker 1: the way that headlines are starting to really lean, conservative
- 26:03Speaker 1: and the way that they're talking about people of color
- 26:06Speaker 1: and immigration and art made by women and people of
- 26:10Speaker 1: color is you can Just i'm constantly, like why aren't
- 26:15Speaker 1: you patronizing?
- 26:16Speaker 2: ME i think it really has been a more hostile
- 26:22Speaker 2: time for women and women artists and female driven storylines
- 26:27Speaker 2: in the past couple of years for reasons we all
- 26:30Speaker 2: know and don't have to get. Into BUT i think
- 26:34Speaker 2: it's more important than. Ever as you said at the
- 26:36Speaker 2: top of our conversation about the trust, economy Which i've
- 26:39Speaker 2: been REALLY i don't know harping on for lack of
- 26:43Speaker 2: a better, word is figuring out those publications who you
- 26:48Speaker 2: can trust to tell those stories that aren't being told.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Everywhere AND i think it's moved away a lot from
- 26:56Speaker 2: simply the name of a publication to a certain, authors
- 27:00Speaker 2: certain writer that's either has their own platform on you,
- 27:03Speaker 2: know substack or ghost Or instagram or, TikTok and then
- 27:07Speaker 2: who are also a part of. Publications we're very thoughtful
- 27:11Speaker 2: about our coverage that she, knows you. Know we talked
- 27:15Speaker 2: a lot about the movies that are portraying motherhood in
- 27:19Speaker 2: a certain, way and we Covered Adam's apple For South By,
- 27:25Speaker 2: southwest which was a story of trans. Youth AND i
- 27:29Speaker 2: think it's just important that you find those voices and
- 27:33Speaker 2: those artists who are telling authentic stories that are, EXPLAINING
- 27:38Speaker 2: i don't know what life is like in this modern
- 27:41Speaker 2: society and it's at a premium now because there's so much,
- 27:45Speaker 2: slot because there's so MUCH, ai because we're all gaming an,
- 27:48Speaker 2: algorithm because a lot of publications maybe have been bought
- 27:53Speaker 2: by certain people with certain.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Agendas since you brought up movies and how they depict,
- 27:59Speaker 1: motherhood have you seen IF i Had lakeside pick.
- 28:02Speaker 2: YOU i really wanted to see. It it evoked such
- 28:07Speaker 2: a visceral reaction from me just watching the snippets THAT i,
- 28:11Speaker 2: did AND i was, LIKE i don't know If i'm
- 28:13Speaker 2: strong enough to see this right. Now but we did
- 28:16Speaker 2: interview the director and she's a, hero loved.
- 28:21Speaker 1: HER i SO i watched. IT i had wanted to
- 28:26Speaker 1: see it in the movie, theater but movies don't stay
- 28:30Speaker 1: very long in the theaters unless they are The mario.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Movie so it's, like if you're not on your app
- 28:37Speaker 1: at the right, day you're gonna miss the movie That,
- 28:40Speaker 1: LIKE i didn't get to See forbid And fruits in
- 28:43Speaker 1: it at South By southwest or in the movie, theater
- 28:46Speaker 1: And i'm still mad about. It BUT i SO i watched,
- 28:50Speaker 1: it AND i texted my horror. FRIENDS i was, Like,
- 28:53Speaker 1: Hey i'm going to Start IF i Had lakeside pick
- 28:55Speaker 1: you and like grown women who do not even have.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Kids it's texted me. BACK i turned it off in fifteen.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Minutes it was too. STRESSFUL i can see, it But i'm.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Sick AND i do love when horror movies depict just
- 29:13Speaker 1: the nuance of motherhood being a horror in, itself Because i'm, like, yes,
- 29:21Speaker 1: YES i.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Mean it's it's a REAL i think you said it
- 29:27Speaker 2: best with. Nuance BUT i wanted to circle back to
- 29:30Speaker 2: something you said earlier about horror having this moment, right,
- 29:34Speaker 2: like why do you feel like horror is doing the
- 29:38Speaker 2: best job right now at telling authentic stories OR i
- 29:43Speaker 2: just feel like it's the most exciting genre at the.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Moment, NO i very much feel the exact same. Way
- 29:49Speaker 1: we've done like three episodes On horror And Final girls in.
- 29:54Speaker 1: General BUT i think it's honestly because no one takes horror,
- 29:59Speaker 1: seriously which is odd to say because this Past Oscars
- 30:04Speaker 1: sinners was the most nominated movie In oscar, history and
- 30:09Speaker 1: then the year Before Subs Demi moore won A Golden
- 30:13Speaker 1: globe For substance for The substance AND i was as
- 30:17Speaker 1: a horror, FAN i was like on the edge of
- 30:19Speaker 1: my like no one could tether me down about, that
- 30:22Speaker 1: AND i was, like that's, right BECAUSE i told you
- 30:24Speaker 1: horror is the feminist, genre AND i told you it's
- 30:27Speaker 1: the only one that actually depicts what women are going,
- 30:29Speaker 1: through and then it also turns us into a hero
- 30:34Speaker 1: a lot of the, times like we got to escape
- 30:36Speaker 1: our own. Circumstance SO i think unfortunately horror gets to
- 30:42Speaker 1: make all of these leaps and bounds when it comes
- 30:45Speaker 1: to the female experience because no one's taking it, seriously
- 30:50Speaker 1: so they kind of get to do whatever they. Want
- 30:53Speaker 1: AND i feel like there's been a long history of
- 30:56Speaker 1: people just kind of schlepping off horror as like some
- 30:59Speaker 1: trash genre Where i'm, LIKE i could literally do fifteen
- 31:04Speaker 1: Ted talks if they would let me on How, barbarian
- 31:08Speaker 1: a movie written and directed by a, man is rooted
- 31:14Speaker 1: in every woman's, experience and every male character in that
- 31:19Speaker 1: movie represents a man that women have to low key,
- 31:22Speaker 1: ask AM i afraid of? You CAN i trust?
- 31:25Speaker 2: You? Yes i've really Enjoyed barbarian in a way that is.
- 31:30Speaker 2: SURPRISING i don't even know IF i should say the word,
- 31:32Speaker 2: Enjoyed LIKE i was really invested in the.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Movie we went and Saw barbarian in the theaters after
- 31:43Speaker 1: a book club and in person book, club it was
- 31:45Speaker 1: LIKE i was, Like, hey they're going to Do barbarian
- 31:47Speaker 1: at nine. O'CLOCK i think we should. Go and it
- 31:49Speaker 1: was like, me my Friend, sam maybe another friend and
- 31:54Speaker 1: some guy from book, club and then like a smattering
- 32:00Speaker 1: OF i think movie theater employees who were like watching
- 32:03Speaker 1: the last movie of the night AND i we clapped
- 32:07Speaker 1: when it was. OVER i had never felt more seen
- 32:10Speaker 1: in a. Movie and THEN i had to go listen
- 32:13Speaker 1: to men talk about the movie and they were like
- 32:16Speaker 1: and the biggest twist of all was that they thought
- 32:19Speaker 1: That Scary Scars guard was going to be the worst,
- 32:22Speaker 1: man and it turns out he wasn't even the. Villain
- 32:25Speaker 1: AND i was, Like scary Stars guard was a different
- 32:28Speaker 1: type of. Villain he's the nice guy villain that pushes
- 32:32Speaker 1: and pushes and pushes on your boundary until you are
- 32:35Speaker 1: drinking his tea or his glass of, wine or you're
- 32:39Speaker 1: unlocking your bedroom door just in case something might happen
- 32:43Speaker 1: that would be. SPICY i, go he's the worst kind
- 32:46Speaker 1: of villain because no one actually perceives him as a.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Villain AND i think that was a lot of What
- 32:52Speaker 2: Promising Young woman really held up as. WELL i think
- 32:55Speaker 2: it Was Adam brodie's character who was like the nice guy,
- 32:58Speaker 2: yes and then he was.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Well and they Had Promising Young women did like a
- 33:04Speaker 1: litany of oh you think this guy's a nice guy,
- 33:07Speaker 1: bam and you'd be, like oh, no not a nice,
- 33:10Speaker 1: guy And barbarian did it With Justin lan, too and then,
- 33:15Speaker 1: yeah and then people had to remind me that there
- 33:17Speaker 1: was an unaired episode of that Stupid Ashton kutcher. Show
- 33:23Speaker 1: what was that called was punped. Punk there was an
- 33:27Speaker 1: unaired punked episode where they like Made Justin lan believe
- 33:32Speaker 1: he had like asked an unair age girl on a
- 33:37Speaker 1: date or, something and he had like a complete Like
- 33:39Speaker 1: i'm not going down for the, smeltdown so not to be.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Trusted can you Be? Justin BUT i also read an
- 33:51Speaker 1: article and a take On Promising Young woman that there
- 33:55Speaker 1: are some people who think That Promising Young woman is
- 33:58Speaker 1: actually supposed to be really strong satire and if we
- 34:02Speaker 1: hadn't been in the pandemic when a majority of us watched,
- 34:05Speaker 1: it it would have become more of a cult classic
- 34:09Speaker 1: just because it is kind of campy and, silly AND
- 34:12Speaker 1: i was, like, yeah it makes the perfect use Of
- 34:14Speaker 1: Paris Hiltan's The stars Have. EYES i mean the stars are,
- 34:19Speaker 1: blind stars are, blind but starts the stars have.
- 34:22Speaker 2: EYES i mean that's your horror movie right, There the
- 34:25Speaker 2: stars have.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Eyes you're, Writing, yeah a zodiac based horror movie about
- 34:30Speaker 1: the stars always watching. Us AND i already have my.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Ticket and that's Why capricorn's lives are. Hard go to,
- 34:38Speaker 1: GOAT i, agree go to GO i BUT i love
- 34:42Speaker 1: promising young women My some of my friends are, LIKE
- 34:47Speaker 1: i don't, understand like movies that are just rooted in.
- 34:52Speaker 1: Revenge what's the. Point AND i was, like, well the
- 34:55Speaker 1: point is is that you married your very nice first
- 34:59Speaker 1: boyfriend And i've had to slumt on dating apps with
- 35:05Speaker 1: gas lighters and manipulators and cheaters and all of. It
- 35:11Speaker 1: and SO i have some revenge THAT i could kick
- 35:14Speaker 1: up IF i really needed.
- 35:15Speaker 2: To, well just to Play devil's. Advocate Isn't John wick
- 35:20Speaker 2: an entire four part series about? Revenge maybe?
- 35:23Speaker 1: Five? Yeah because of the dog, Right i've never watched
- 35:26Speaker 1: it BECAUSE i know that the dog gets GOT i,
- 35:28Speaker 1: know too.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Hard animal cruelty can't do.
- 35:30Speaker 1: IT i can't do. It they tricked me into SEEING
- 35:33Speaker 1: I Am legend by being, like don't, worry it's a zombie.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Movie and Then Will smith has to you, know sing
- 35:39Speaker 1: to his dying, dog AND i was, Like i'm never
- 35:42Speaker 1: recovering from.
- 35:43Speaker 2: This too, hard too.
- 35:44Speaker 1: HARD i cried throughout the Entire New Muppet movie as an,
- 35:50Speaker 1: adult and my dad took me to the movie mistake
- 35:53Speaker 1: and he was, like why are you? Crying what is?
- 35:55Speaker 1: HAPPENING i was, LIKE i don't want to live in
- 35:56Speaker 1: a world where The buppets are a roll a. Bit
- 35:59Speaker 1: how did we like this? Happened he's, like when was
- 36:03Speaker 1: the last time The muppets were ON? Tv why would
- 36:06Speaker 1: we let that? Happen though.
- 36:09Speaker 2: It's, True you're, right why did we let it? Happen
- 36:11Speaker 2: we have to ask ourselves the tough.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Questions, yeah AND i think it's Because Miss piggy is
- 36:17Speaker 1: too powerful and men know. It she empowers us too
- 36:22Speaker 1: much icon she's an.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Icon but, Yeah i'm curious like this in this space
- 36:28Speaker 2: right where there is a lack of trust, overall and
- 36:33Speaker 2: you need to earn the trust from your. Audience AND
- 36:37Speaker 2: i think certain directors do earn my trust AND i
- 36:40Speaker 2: go see them AND i believe their stories And i'm
- 36:42Speaker 2: invested in their. Stories you, know who are you trusting right? Now,
- 36:46Speaker 2: Like i'm just curious who your people.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Are who DO i trust right?
- 36:49Speaker 2: Now That's Chelsea, debontez who we both.
- 36:51Speaker 1: TRUST i Trust. Chelsea, yeah maybe that's. Well and If
- 36:55Speaker 1: i'm going to Trust, Chelsea i'm going to Trust Ashley
- 36:59Speaker 1: Nicole black executive. PRODUCER i believe at least a producer
- 37:03Speaker 1: credit and writing credit On shrinking because this season Of
- 37:08Speaker 1: shrinking was some of the best Television i've. Watched AND
- 37:10Speaker 1: i made sure to post on one of her videos
- 37:14Speaker 1: AND i was, LIKE i need you to know just,
- 37:15Speaker 1: PERSONALLY i enjoy hanging out with that cast so, Much
- 37:20Speaker 1: like WHEN i get to turn that cast on for twenty,
- 37:22Speaker 1: minutes it's a rip roaring good. Time AND i love
- 37:25Speaker 1: each one of them as. Individuals WOULD i Leave jimmy
- 37:28Speaker 1: alone with the? Baby, no BUT i Love, jimmy wouldn't
- 37:33Speaker 1: leave him alone with the. Baby but who DO i trust?
- 37:37Speaker 1: Currently it's so, Hard Ryan. COOGLER i used to Trust
- 37:48Speaker 1: Emerald funnel and then we Had Horning.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Heights you Watched Wathering.
- 37:52Speaker 1: HEIGHTS i didn't watch. IT i just watched all the discourse,
- 37:55Speaker 1: happen and then people told me it was kind of,
- 37:56Speaker 1: boring SO i didn't go see. IT i was, like,
- 37:59Speaker 1: well if it's not gonna be fun, SKANKY.
- 38:02Speaker 2: I think you should watch it as it's streaming starting.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Tomorrow oh does it start tomorrow's? Streaming but yourself to
- 38:08Speaker 1: a stream? Yeah, Oh. GRETA i Trust. GRETA i cannot
- 38:14Speaker 1: wait for Her narnia. ADAPTATION i believe she's also. Doing
- 38:19Speaker 1: is she doing this new mini series On pride And
- 38:22Speaker 1: prejudice on The Bennett's.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Sisters, OH i don't. KNOW i have to look that up.
- 38:26Speaker 1: BECAUSE i remember that preview coming out before The narnia,
- 38:30Speaker 1: preview AND i was, like why Is greta showing me
- 38:32Speaker 1: this when she could be showing me A narnia. PREVIEW
- 38:40Speaker 1: I Gina. Davis she has a whole institute on how
- 38:45Speaker 1: to make sure that people are equally represented in, media
- 38:49Speaker 1: and THEREFORE i trust. HER i Trust JOHN. M. Chew
- 38:53Speaker 1: Those wicked movies really got, me AND i trust. Him
- 38:58Speaker 1: he seems very. Kind AND i still Trust Lenn Manuel.
- 39:03Speaker 1: MIRANDA i do trust. HIM i DO i trust. HIM
- 39:09Speaker 1: i went and Saw Michelle bhuteau at The Chicago theater
- 39:12Speaker 1: a couple of weeks, ago AND i trust her and
- 39:14Speaker 1: so Does lenny kraviats so wait? What oh, YEAH i
- 39:20Speaker 1: won't spoil her entire new, set but like the first
- 39:23Speaker 1: fifteen minutes is about her finally getting to Meet Lenny. Kravitz,
- 39:28Speaker 1: wow because in her last special THAT i think is
- 39:32Speaker 1: On hulu Or, netflix she does a tight five to
- 39:36Speaker 1: seven minutes about How Lenny kravitz followed her On instagram
- 39:40Speaker 1: and they were mutuals and her husband was, like SHOULD
- 39:43Speaker 1: i be worried About Lenny? Kravitz and she was, like
- 39:45Speaker 1: every husband should be worried About Lenny. Kravitz so, Yeah
- 39:48Speaker 1: i'm gonna be real with. You you should. Be i'm
- 39:51Speaker 1: going to open this marriage right up if he.
- 39:54Speaker 2: CALLS i THINK i think that he has passed that
- 39:57Speaker 2: quality on to his, daughter because, Oh Hobby kravitz can
- 40:02Speaker 2: have anyone she. Wants you, know this engagement between her
- 40:06Speaker 2: And Harry styles has rocked my. World oh my?
- 40:09Speaker 1: God and you know what do you watch hacks? On? Ah? Okay?
- 40:13Speaker 1: Did BUT i love this last episode Of. HACKS i
- 40:17Speaker 1: need to make a TikTok. On it Has conrad from
- 40:21Speaker 1: the SUMMER i turned pretty in it and he's a,
- 40:24Speaker 1: musician And i'm, like, oh it was so nice Of
- 40:26Speaker 1: hacks to let me know just how insufferable it would
- 40:29Speaker 1: be to hang out With Harry. Styles thank you so.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Much so who the writers Of? HACKS i also trust.
- 40:38Speaker 1: Them it's just trust is such a tricky. Word because
- 40:44Speaker 1: a silly. STORY i was in a shop one day
- 40:49Speaker 1: and there were these, handmade repurposed denim jackets and one
- 40:56Speaker 1: of them had Posts malone on the, back AND i
- 40:59Speaker 1: cracked up because there was a significant part of my
- 41:02Speaker 1: depression around the release Of Tortured Poet's department By Taylor.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Swift that Post malone is on that people were taking
- 41:13Speaker 1: videos of his concerts and his stupid dances and then
- 41:17Speaker 1: putting the Saddest Taylor swift songs over, them and it
- 41:21Speaker 1: made me, laugh and it was like meditation for, free
- 41:25Speaker 1: AND i would just watch. Hours it was like me
- 41:27Speaker 1: watching when people take the sims and make them The
- 41:30Speaker 1: shrek characters and it's Like shrek had a baby with Snow.
- 41:33Speaker 1: White that's. HILARIOUS i don't know. Why SO i told my,
- 41:39Speaker 1: SISTER i was, like SHOULD i get this Post malone?
- 41:41Speaker 1: Jacket and it Was International Women's, day so she tried
- 41:45Speaker 1: to text our mom and she was, like, Hey, Mom
- 41:46Speaker 1: Happy International Women's. Day don't know if you Know namley
- 41:50Speaker 1: needs one hundred dollars for this Post malone, jacket but
- 41:53Speaker 1: she's a hyper focused on so if you could just
- 41:56Speaker 1: said that to, us that would be. Great AND i
- 41:59Speaker 1: was just like laughing so hard AND i tried it.
- 42:01Speaker 1: On it fit like a, glove BUT i walked away
- 42:03Speaker 1: from it and my sisters, like do you want to
- 42:05Speaker 1: go back and get that? Jacket AND i, went, NO
- 42:07Speaker 1: i go BECAUSE i know the moment THAT i swiped
- 42:10Speaker 1: my card for this ridiculous jacket THAT i just think
- 42:12Speaker 1: is hilarious that a woman will come forward about Post
- 42:17Speaker 1: malone and why WOULD i waste the? Money, OH i just,
- 42:21Speaker 1: know Like i'll jinx it BECAUSE i think Post and
- 42:24Speaker 1: then the women of color in my life were, like
- 42:27Speaker 1: Post malone is a. Culture culture AND i was, like
- 42:29Speaker 1: you are, correct and that's WHY i don't have his.
- 42:32Speaker 2: Jacket oh my, god you were so close and it
- 42:36Speaker 2: was right there for.
- 42:37Speaker 1: You it was right, there and it was so, funny
- 42:40Speaker 1: like it was just a ridiculously obnoxious. JACKET i can't
- 42:43Speaker 1: name one Post malone song Besides fortnite that Is Taylor swift's.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Song BUT i just thought that those videos were so
- 42:50Speaker 1: funny and comforting because they were ridiculous THAT i was,
- 42:56Speaker 1: LIKE i need this. Jacket Post malone has become important
- 42:59Speaker 1: to my. Psyche it's kind of like how The Summer
- 43:03Speaker 1: house cast are the most important people in my life
- 43:06Speaker 1: currently AND i don't trust any of, them BUT i
- 43:13Speaker 1: will follow them into hell if that's where they want
- 43:16Speaker 1: to lead.
- 43:16Speaker 2: ME i really THINK i need to get on board
- 43:20Speaker 2: With summerhouse because this latest scandal HAS i think IF
- 43:26Speaker 2: i would have been, invested this would have been a,
- 43:28Speaker 2: GOOD i don't, know two weeks of my life WHERE
- 43:32Speaker 2: i would have an amazing parasocial relationship to the whole. Cast,
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yes i'd be living this.
- 43:38Speaker 1: Drama there's still, time is?
- 43:41Speaker 2: There SHOULD i catch?
- 43:42Speaker 1: Up it's time you should just catch up on ten
- 43:44Speaker 1: whole seasons before this. Reunion i've done. It i've been
- 43:49Speaker 1: rewatching it during my quiet time WHEN i can't have
- 43:51Speaker 1: it be. Quiet So i'm Like lindsay yell At. Carl
- 43:55Speaker 1: This commanda scandal is so rot in everything that this
- 44:00Speaker 1: cast stands. For it's women betraying. Women it's a friendship
- 44:05Speaker 1: breakup it's men who just manipulate women to get. Ahead
- 44:11Speaker 1: UH i. AM i actually needed to text my Friend
- 44:16Speaker 1: annie to be, like we have to do A scamanda.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Episode it's everything AND i need to know from, you
- 44:22Speaker 2: just Because i've, been you, know pulled into this as
- 44:26Speaker 2: we all. Have it's like a gravitational force that we
- 44:28Speaker 2: all need to know about this summer house. Scandal what
- 44:33Speaker 2: is it About west that is making him so? Appealing
- 44:35Speaker 2: BECAUSE i saw some, PICTURES i saw some clips AND
- 44:38Speaker 2: i didn't get it.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Well and this is HOW i. Knew this is HOW
- 44:42Speaker 1: i knew THAT i view men on a spectrum that
- 44:46Speaker 1: other women don't because everyone tried to tell, Me, oh
- 44:50Speaker 1: he's so charming and he's so, funny AND i was,
- 44:53Speaker 1: like he looks like one of my exes and they're, like,
- 44:56Speaker 1: WHAT i, go he looks like one of my? Exes
- 44:58Speaker 1: like who hates? Me and let me tell you WHO
- 45:04Speaker 1: i don't trust kind of short, MAN i don't trust.
- 45:09Speaker 1: THOUGH i was, like he has bad, skin he has
- 45:11Speaker 1: a constant sunburn all of the, time which is actually beer.
- 45:15Speaker 1: RASH i forgot that the constant sunburn is in fact from,
- 45:20Speaker 1: beer and that's what Turns ben red like that. ALWAYS
- 45:25Speaker 1: i never saw the lid appeal of, him even When
- 45:28Speaker 1: sierra was like entertaining, it even when like people were,
- 45:32Speaker 1: LIKE i don't, Know he's just like so nice and
- 45:35Speaker 1: like so grounded and so, normal AND i was, like
- 45:39Speaker 1: he's not. Normal he's a people. Forget he's A TikTok.
- 45:42Speaker 1: Celebrity he is one of the original. Guys he's not
- 45:45Speaker 1: the talented, guy but he is the guy that watches
- 45:49Speaker 1: the talented. Guy he has like a whiteboard and dry erace,
- 45:53Speaker 1: markers and he explains all of The bravo and or
- 45:56Speaker 1: other REALITY tv, Drama like he makes a family tree
- 46:00Speaker 1: like a football, plan and Then west would watch. It
- 46:05Speaker 1: so he was already A TikTok, celebrity which is how
- 46:08Speaker 1: you get On Summer house is by being already kind
- 46:11Speaker 1: of fame. Adjacent BUT i didn't trust. HIM i have
- 46:16Speaker 1: to imagine That Jesse slomon smells bad because none of
- 46:19Speaker 1: the women will kind of entertain. It i'm, like what
- 46:21Speaker 1: is it About jesse's vibes that are so repulsive that
- 46:25Speaker 1: they gravitate Towards west because he's actually. FUNNY i heard.
- 46:31Speaker 2: That west was, funny and this was the whole, thing.
- 46:35Speaker 1: And you know, what funny men did have me very
- 46:40Speaker 1: very commenced THAT i was straight for a very very long.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Time because people love to, laugh and when you're, laughing
- 46:48Speaker 1: you're usually not, afraid or you're forgetting to be afraid
- 46:51Speaker 1: of what's happening around.
- 46:53Speaker 2: You you, Know funny is My achilles. Heel i'll do
- 46:58Speaker 2: just about anything IF i think you're, funny and funny
- 47:02Speaker 2: that you say. That because someone THAT i trust and
- 47:05Speaker 2: is actually coming to perform in my neck of the
- 47:08Speaker 2: woods soon Is Jenny, slake WHO i trust. Implicitly And
- 47:12Speaker 2: i'm always believed in comedy as the right messenger for
- 47:16Speaker 2: the truth BECAUSE i really think there are painful things
- 47:21Speaker 2: that people can't talk, about but if you're able to
- 47:23Speaker 2: make light of, it then it's okay and now you
- 47:28Speaker 2: can handle it and you can process it and you
- 47:30Speaker 2: can share in that. Moment and, actually we just are
- 47:33Speaker 2: launching our first comedy event For She knows On Mother's
- 47:38Speaker 2: day and on Her Mother's day Called Laughing Through. It
- 47:41Speaker 2: we're partnering With Underground Overground, comedy who does comedy and unusual,
- 47:45Speaker 2: places and we're popping up AT Z bars and it's
- 47:47Speaker 2: all these comedians that are going to riff on parenting
- 47:49Speaker 2: because sometimes the moments when parenting is the hardest are
- 47:55Speaker 2: really hard and you do need to laugh through. It
- 47:57Speaker 2: SO i do trust a lot of. Comedians not all,
- 48:00Speaker 2: meetings of, course BUT i think that comedy can be
- 48:02Speaker 2: used as a tool to really create, community bring people,
- 48:06Speaker 2: together and there are some THAT i really do feel
- 48:10Speaker 2: LIKE i trust. You, obviously not last we saw what,
- 48:12Speaker 2: happened but people who can be funny and, Insidious i'm, like,
- 48:16Speaker 2: oh that's such a problem Because i'm laughing. First.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah it took me the longest of long times to
- 48:23Speaker 1: stop Trusting Whitney commings Because Whitney comings got me through
- 48:27Speaker 1: a lot of my codependency bullshit through therapy BECAUSE i
- 48:32Speaker 1: would take her bits and chapters from her book and
- 48:35Speaker 1: be LIKE i feel this, way and my therapist would be,
- 48:38Speaker 1: like oh, okay AND i was, Like i'm not going
- 48:41Speaker 1: to say it Because whitney said it for. Me this
- 48:44Speaker 1: is HOW i, Feel and she's, like do you want
- 48:46Speaker 1: to describe the? Feeling AND i go, No i'd rather.
- 48:49Speaker 1: DIE i was really great at. Therapy but also, like
- 48:54Speaker 1: so When Whitney cummings very very publicly just started to
- 48:59Speaker 1: go THE i was at a live show AND i
- 49:01Speaker 1: saw the writing on the walls AND i was, like,
- 49:03Speaker 1: oh when He cummings is going to go the turf
- 49:05Speaker 1: route and this is and NOW i have to describe
- 49:07Speaker 1: my social media because this will be embarrassing for me.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Later oh But Taylor thomlinson is another. One So jenny's
- 49:16Speaker 1: Lay Michelle, williams did you Watch dying For? Sex that
- 49:20Speaker 1: show was.
- 49:20Speaker 2: Beautiful Loved dying For. SEX i sobbed Through dying FOR
- 49:26Speaker 2: i was, like Give Michelle williams every award that you possibly.
- 49:30Speaker 2: CAN i thought the writing was. BEAUTIFUL i thought the
- 49:32Speaker 2: relationships are. Beautiful it hit every.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Note yeah, Someone. Yeah it was just a great AND
- 49:40Speaker 1: i always have a soft spot For Michelle. Williams you're
- 49:43Speaker 1: not allowed to surprise me With Michelle williams because THEN
- 49:46Speaker 1: i am reminded that her Daughter matilda never got to
- 49:50Speaker 1: Have Heath ledger as a. Dad and Then i'm just,
- 49:52Speaker 1: Weeping so please continue to cast her in sad stuff
- 49:56Speaker 1: Because i'm weeping, Anyways LIKE i.
- 49:59Speaker 2: Be love that you're not allowed to surprise me With Michelle.
- 50:02Speaker 1: Williams, well because After prince, died people kept surprising me
- 50:06Speaker 1: with performances Of Purple, rain AND i was, like how
- 50:10Speaker 1: dare You i'm, Grieving i'm in a bold. Veil what
- 50:14Speaker 1: are you? Doing and it was the same When David bowie.
- 50:17Speaker 2: DIED i hate to do, this BUT i do have to,
- 50:21Speaker 2: ask Is beyonce coming out with A prince inspired rock?
- 50:24Speaker 2: Album due to her latest, POST.
- 50:26Speaker 1: I, hope So, BEE i hope.
- 50:29Speaker 2: SO i was Like Purple, RAIN i don't.
- 50:31Speaker 1: KNOW i Loved Cowboy carter AND i still Love Cowboy
- 50:36Speaker 1: oh talking about how hard it is to lose trust
- 50:39Speaker 1: due to. Media as you, Know i'm going through the
- 50:44Speaker 1: hardest of heart breakups With Taylor swift because it turns
- 50:50Speaker 1: out that billionaires are bad even when they're pretty blonde
- 50:53Speaker 1: and they sing all of your. Feelings AND i fully
- 50:59Speaker 1: believe that she's to marry that big football man so
- 51:02Speaker 1: her daddy loves her and that they will then be
- 51:04Speaker 1: The republican Prom canane.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Queen BECAUSE i can't go on this journey with, YOU
- 51:11Speaker 2: i have to. SAY i went to The ears.
- 51:13Speaker 1: Tour so DID i my.
- 51:15Speaker 2: DAUGHTER i. CRIED i also want my best. FRIEND i,
- 51:18Speaker 2: cried AND I i guess.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Are three episodes of the show about?
- 51:26Speaker 2: You, YEAH i don't know THAT i am fully bought
- 51:33Speaker 2: in on any change of heart of, hers AND i
- 51:35Speaker 2: also have trouble believing that any narrative about her is
- 51:42Speaker 2: accurate because there's so much and it's it reminds me
- 51:47Speaker 2: how hard it is to know the actual. Person DO
- 51:52Speaker 2: i Think Joe alwyn was a superior? MUSE i absolutely.
- 51:55Speaker 2: DO i think that you know his the body of
- 51:58Speaker 2: work that came out of her during their relationship will
- 52:00Speaker 2: always hit for. ME i don't know that The travis
- 52:03Speaker 2: era is hitting the, same BUT I i'm having trouble
- 52:09Speaker 2: reconciling the fact That i'll never really know Who Taylor swift,
- 52:15Speaker 2: is and therefore it is hard for. ME i can't,
- 52:20Speaker 2: disconnect BUT i also can't judge. Her so we've not broken.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Up taylor AND i are still in a relationship that
- 52:25Speaker 2: she doesn't know, about and she's still a very important
- 52:29Speaker 2: connective tissue between me and my, child AND i can't say.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Otherwise, NO i respect, It and by broken, UP i
- 52:38Speaker 1: mean That i'm not listening to the new, music BUT
- 52:41Speaker 1: i still do the ten minute version Of All Too
- 52:44Speaker 1: well once a week because that is.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Therapy, yeah and you know what they have at a
- 52:49Speaker 2: Karaoke And i've never turned it. DOWN i was, like ten,
- 52:52Speaker 2: Minutes i'm, sorry this.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Is it Has one time my friend got really drunk
- 52:57Speaker 1: at a bar and she's, like you don't. Understand when
- 53:00Speaker 1: you pay on the jukebox for two dollars for a,
- 53:04Speaker 1: song you can get the ten minute version Of all Too,
- 53:06Speaker 1: well and it's like three songs for your two. Dollars
- 53:10Speaker 1: you could just buy shake it, off but that's not
- 53:13Speaker 1: worth your. Money AND i was, LIKE i, understand she's providing.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Value he's giving us a, discount and we love. THAT
- 53:22Speaker 1: i but that does bring me into the REASON i
- 53:27Speaker 1: reached out to you to begin. With AND i was so.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Mad i'm always mad BECAUSE i just feel like she's
- 53:34Speaker 1: too young to be going through it. ALREADY i was
- 53:39Speaker 1: so mad at that soccer player for being like Chapel
- 53:43Speaker 1: rone bullied my kid in an airport and the entire
- 53:47Speaker 1: internet being, like of course she. Did she's a. Bitch
- 53:52Speaker 1: and you, Know chapelone is so ridiculously, talented and people
- 54:02Speaker 1: hate talented, women like and that's the end of the.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Lawn in the short of it is that people hate talented.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Women they don't know what to do when women are
- 54:10Speaker 1: undeniably talented and when that man was just like you should.
- 54:16Speaker 1: HAVE i truly don't even believe that chaperone knew that
- 54:20Speaker 1: a child was in the, airport let alone bullied a.
- 54:23Speaker 1: Child but we figured out, that just like with The
- 54:27Speaker 1: Taylor swift backlash on the last No The life of A,
- 54:31Speaker 1: Showgirl i'm always trying to make it That Pam anderson.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Movie but we found out that most of it was
- 54:39Speaker 1: like the same box that bully me on. YouTube it
- 54:43Speaker 1: was it actually real fans or real. Discourse, yeah AND
- 54:47Speaker 1: i think that's. Dangerous it's.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Scary, Yeah and it's scary because we inherently believe, it
- 54:53Speaker 2: because it feels like that could be the. Truth AND
- 54:59Speaker 2: i think about the messages THAT i received as a
- 55:01Speaker 2: kid to be, polite as you, know as kind AS
- 55:06Speaker 2: i could, be to be, forgiving to be, quiet to be,
- 55:09Speaker 2: pleasing and that flies in the face of a lot
- 55:15Speaker 2: of the multidimensionality that women. Are we should be able
- 55:19Speaker 2: to be many, things and you can be in a bad,
- 55:22Speaker 2: mood and let's, say for, Instance Chapel room did yell
- 55:25Speaker 2: at a kid LIKE i don't, KNOW i do feel
- 55:28Speaker 2: like she's being her authentic. Self she is a person
- 55:30Speaker 2: THAT i trust to speak her mind and to be
- 55:34Speaker 2: exactly who she. Is and it shouldn't be a crime
- 55:40Speaker 2: to have a bad moment or a bad. Day but
- 55:41Speaker 2: the fact is we've been so conditioned to just take
- 55:47Speaker 2: it as. Fact now with all of, this you, KNOW ai,
- 55:52Speaker 2: proliferation we. Can't and what you said about media literacy
- 55:55Speaker 2: is exactly, Right like we have to be teaching, kids
- 55:57Speaker 2: we have to be teaching ourselves to be, critical to
- 56:00Speaker 2: be critical. Thinkers and it does come for, WOMEN i,
- 56:02Speaker 2: think disproportionately.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Well and it happen and even before it was happening
- 56:09Speaker 1: To Chapel, roon it was happening To Renee, rap WHO
- 56:13Speaker 1: i am a fan, of and HONESTLY i THINK i
- 56:16Speaker 1: Trust Renee. Rap but you know there are people who are, like,
- 56:21Speaker 1: well you, know all of this could be fixed if
- 56:25Speaker 1: these women would take THEIR pr training. Seriously and NOW
- 56:29Speaker 1: i kind of have a hot take ON pr AND i,
- 56:32Speaker 1: wonder as someone who actually works in the, media what
- 56:35Speaker 1: you think of. THIS i think that people are so
- 56:38Speaker 1: desperate to have women and stars in general HAVE pr
- 56:43Speaker 1: training because it makes your average white man comfortable and
- 56:48Speaker 1: never having to face hard. Things.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Hmm i'll have to think about. THAT I i think
- 56:59Speaker 2: we like a certain as a. SOCIETY i think be
- 57:03Speaker 2: like a certain presentation of a. Woman you like it
- 57:06Speaker 2: even more when we can crack. It AND i don't
- 57:12Speaker 2: know if that's for the comfort of men or, not
- 57:16Speaker 2: BUT i think it's a dangerous place to be when
- 57:18Speaker 2: we are asking people to slack themselves only so we
- 57:23Speaker 2: can take a hammer to.
- 57:24Speaker 1: It. Yeah, well and you, know at the before we
- 57:28Speaker 1: hit record and we were talking about kind of the
- 57:30Speaker 1: end name ceremony of the, episode and it was, like
- 57:32Speaker 1: don't worry if you can't think of A mai station
- 57:35Speaker 1: on the, FLY i always throw Out AND i Hope
- 57:38Speaker 1: Amanda bndes had a good day like you AND i
- 57:41Speaker 1: lived through a very heinous part Of fame history where
- 57:46Speaker 1: we Watched amanda BND i could probably paint the cover
- 57:51Speaker 1: of the magazine With britney spears bald and smashing in
- 57:55Speaker 1: the car by. Memory IF i was a better, DRAWER
- 57:57Speaker 1: i would sketch it out right, now to be LIKE
- 58:00Speaker 1: i can do that from. Memory that is something that
- 58:02Speaker 1: is ingrained in my brain forever and for always and
- 58:07Speaker 1: now as a thirty seven year, OLD i realized that
- 58:10Speaker 1: that there was such a slow setup for us not
- 58:15Speaker 1: being able to Trust Amanda, Bynds Britney, Spears Jessica simpson
- 58:20Speaker 1: being able to govern what size her body was or
- 58:23Speaker 1: even reporting actively on the size of her body that there.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Was that it all came by a death by a thousand.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Cuts as to why When Britney spears went under a,
- 58:33Speaker 1: conservatorship we were, like, yeah someone should be babysitting, her
- 58:37Speaker 1: like she's wild and her kids are in. Danger and
- 58:41Speaker 1: then you start to pay attention and you're, like oh,
- 58:44Speaker 1: no they needed her money and they decided that they
- 58:48Speaker 1: should be the only people who have her. Money The
- 58:51Speaker 1: Britney spears of it all still.
- 58:54Speaker 2: HURTS i feel like she was so adept in navigating the,
- 58:59Speaker 2: media and you look back at those questions that she
- 59:01Speaker 2: was asked and she, navigated but she was given beautifully
- 59:07Speaker 2: and then you, know things happened and we all turned on,
- 59:11Speaker 2: her AND i don't, KNOW i. AGREE i wish her,
- 59:15Speaker 2: well like ALL i. Want ALL i want is For
- 59:18Speaker 2: brittany to have a good.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Day her And Amanda, Vines AND i Guess Amanda vines
- 59:22Speaker 1: is going to be a nail tech but also possibly a.
- 59:25Speaker 1: RAPPER i think the last TIME i heard as whatever
- 59:28Speaker 1: you want to, Do, Amanda i'm fine with. IT i
- 59:31Speaker 1: am whatever you want to. Do BUT i and to
- 59:38Speaker 1: think that. Well and So Sabrina carpenter is another one
- 59:43Speaker 1: of my pop divas who is kind of a controversial
- 59:46Speaker 1: figure because she's A disney star who's decided that she's
- 59:51Speaker 1: sexy and she is indeed.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Indeed but when.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Her Man's Best friend album came out and it was
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: kind of like her in a submissive dog pose with
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: someone off screen Holding alish or, whatever the internet went
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: wild and my sister coffee and she's, like, Listen i've
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: never listened To Sabrina carpenter before she. Goes but all
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: of a, Sudden i'm getting These juno poses all over my,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: TikTok and this is what people are screaming. ABOUT i, go,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: yes she. Goes it's truly the most sugary pop way to, be,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Like i'm sexy and SOMETIMES i too would do The
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Eiffel tower if you asked. Me go, right it's all.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Satire she's, winking she's having fun with, us and people
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: just cannot get past.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: IT i, Yeah Sabrina carpenter AND I i think are
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: still figuring things, out Like taylor AND i are still
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: in a, relationship But sabrina AND i are just trying
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: to you, know we're figuring.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Out. YEAH i do think That sabrina And chapel, too
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Because chapel will blur the boundaries when it comes to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: her outfits and how she. PERFORMS i Think sabrina And
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: chapel will fall into this pop star queendom where it's,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: like we still very much want to view you as
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: someone who is safe for, teenagers but you are also
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: grown women who are making art about a grown woman's.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: Experience so now we don't know what to do with.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: You AND i think the teenagers gravitate towards aspirational. Life
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: so there was WHEN i was growing, up you, know
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: seventeen MAGAZINE i feel like was read by twelve year
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: olds because it was, like, oh what would a prom be?
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Like i'm picturing myself that. Way and so we have
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: a lot of artists now WHO i think teenagers look
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: up to because we're always at that age wondering what
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: will it be like for me WHEN i grew up
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: and who DO i want to? Become And i'm trying
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: on a lot of identities to figure out what feels.
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Right SO i think we need to give a lot
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: of grace to our kids listening to a lot and
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: figuring things, out and also a lot of grace to
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: these pop stars or directors or authors who are making
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: art from their own experience and are sort of out
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: of control a little bit of how it's going to
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: be interpreted and how it's going to be.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Seen, Yeah AND i feel like that patience wars thin
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: when you're looking at a female artist and you're, like,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: WELL i don't have any patience for you to upset.
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: Me, Yeah AND i think we've seen it so many
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: times where women are built up only to be knocked,
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: down which is why it's important when you're in a
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: position to create a narrative as a member of the,
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: media to think about women as three dimensional people and
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: think about that narrative as multi.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: Layered. Yeah, well and you, know WHEN i was growing,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: UP i was very unsupervised when it came TO. TV
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: i was a high ability, kid so my mom would
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: just make me buy books based on, length and she was,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: like you can't read any of the middle school books
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: because you'll get through them in ten minutes And i'm
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: not coming, back so get a longer. Book i'd be, like,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: okay and my mom was actually kind of like WHEN
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: i was eight years old AND i had really bad
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: anxiety and induced. INSOMNIA i would come downstairs and my
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: mom would be watching Unrated Dirty dancing on one of
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: the women. Networks it Wasn't. Lifetime what was the other?
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: One, Oh Lifetime Women's.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Network, right, yeah there Was, lifetime but then it was
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the other one that had like, me, no it had
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: did you SAY? We it probably did be W E. Entertainment,
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: yeah it was PROBABLY. We and when it would be
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: late enough at, night they'd be, like and now you
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: can have THE r rated version Of Dirty dancing with
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: the abortion and the.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: Movies this is driving me. Nuts why DON'T i know this?
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: Network it's the one that had snapped on, it SO
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: i think that IS.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: We?
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Okay the anama. IS i would sit down at all,
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: eight at the ripe old age of, eight AND i
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: would watch the unedited version Of Dirty, dancing having only
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: seen the edited FOR tbs version Of Dirty, dancing And
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: i'd be, like, mom why Is penny? Crying why does
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: her tummy? Hurt and my, mom not wanting to explain
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: to me what an abortion, was was like leave me,
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: alone AND i was, LIKE i, understand thank. You And
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: i'd be, like, mom when did they start having sex
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: in this? Movie and my mom want to explain to
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: me why they were having would be, like if you're gonna,
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: talk just go to. Bed i'd be, LIKE i understand.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: THAT i would be quiet SO i could watch THE
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: r rated. Movie, HOWEVER i was also a girl who
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: in the third grade could not go See titanic in,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: theaters even THOUGH i was convinced my entire class had
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: gotten to and really one girl had gotten. Too oh.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Wow AND i talked to my parents every. DAY i was,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: LIKE i want to See titanic in theaters and they'd be, like,
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: no there's, boobs And i'd be, like, OH i want
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: to See titanic in. Theaters it's a historical. Movie it's
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: part of my. Education and they'd be, like, no they
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: have sex in a, carriage AND i feel LIKE hi
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: went To honestly sex. Aside titanic is a scary. Movie
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: do not take eight year olds to see. It it's so.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: Horrifying it's.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: Alarming and NOW i feel Like i'm a member of
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: the orchestra just playing as the ship is going.
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: Down, yeah BUT i remember my we finally got the
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: TWO vhs set Of titanic because it was so, long
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: it had to be on two and my mom knew
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: the they were about to get down in the carriage
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and she would probably have let it, slide but my
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: dad was with her because my mom was, LIKE i
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: just feel, like why should we monitor what the children are?
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Watching and my dad was, like go sit, upstairs AND
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: i like crept. UPSTAIRS i pretended to walk the rest
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: of the, stairs and THEN i crept back downstairs AND
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: i just like tilted my head SO i could see
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: that sweaty hand flop onto the stage coach AND i was,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Like i'm a changed. Woman titanic did that for, me
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: but it was so weird what my parents would and
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: would not argue about what was appropriate television for. ME
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: i REMEMBER i got to watch every episode Of friends
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: UNTIL i was old enough to understand what like serial
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: dating and having sex with a bunch of people would be.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Like and then my dad was, like no More, friends
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: because now you can comprehend. It AND i was, like,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: What we've been Watching friends as a family forever and they're,
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: like no. More. YEAH i also wasn't allowed to Watch
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: josie and The pussycats because my parents knew THAT i
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: would want to be a rock star AND i would
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: run away to do. It and THERE i. Got and
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: NOW i watch jose and The pussycats every time it's ON.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: Tv i'm, like, Oh, josie here we. Are BUT i
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: got to Watch selena every time it was ON. TVs
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: and a woman is shot and killed In, selena but
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Not jose in The. Pussycats riddle me. That riddle me.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: That and so When i'm talking to parents of children
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: And i'm, like, wow good on you for like monitoring
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: what your kids are. Watching considering that now we live
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: in the Digital internet, AGE i was, like my parents
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: couldn't even monitor WHAT i was watching on the super.
- 1:07:46Speaker 2: STATION i, mean it's it's nearly. Impossible it is. IMPOSSIBLE
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: i think we're all tasked with rolling this rock up the,
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: hill you, Know, sissaphene and it rolls back down on.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: You because there's so many, channels there's so many, platforms
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: there's so many, devices there's so many. Ways BUT i
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: think to fool ourselves into the idea that it is
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: possible for one person or two, people or however many
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: parents or parental figures or in your household to take
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: control is a little, unrealistic even though you try your,
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: best you do your. Best AND i think back to
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: my parents who let me leave the house stay over
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: In New York city at my friend's, house whose parents
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: may or may not have been, home and all the
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: things THAT i was up, to and the freedom and
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: independence and the mistakes THAT i got to make because
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: there was no way to track me or monitor, me
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: and they didn't know WHAT i was up. To AND
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: i THINK i learned a lot that. Way SO i don't,
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: know it's a difficult process of letting. Go AND i
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: think a lot about your moment of, like what is
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: our moment of? Transformation right in this, conversation.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Your kid is, twelve, right that's what you. Said so
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: that's around the same age as my best friend's. Kids
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: she has, twins And i'm always telling, Her i'm, Like
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: i'm pretty sure by the time we were the kids
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: the twins', age we stopped talking to our. MOTHERS i
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: never talked to my mother past age of. Twelve she
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: never knew IF i was at, McDonald's At Pizza, HUT
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: i was everywhere and, nowhere all at the same, time
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and you would just get in your friend's mom's car
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and you'd be, like, yeah take me to the. Movie
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: who cares if my mom? Knows? Yeah and no one
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: was calling my mom because that required a. Lambline it's.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: WILD i THINK i thought that the digital age would
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: make kids more independent, somehow AND i very and you
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: can tell Me i'm wrong about, this Because i'm not
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: actually raising. KIDS i very much feel like it's the.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: OPPOSITE i think there's a lot of research that's showing
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: that kids are not having the same rights of passage
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: that we, did AND i think that will continue to.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Evolve a lot of, TIMES i think The internet will
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: educate you very, quickly like what if you've been allowed
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: to Watch josie The? Busycats like who would you be?
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Now a pop? Star You're?
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Carpenter you what you'd Be Sabrina carpenter.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Doing The Eiffel tower in the middle.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: GRANTS i think you learn a lot a lot faster
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: in some senses on The, Internet but it does take
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: you away from some of that in person stuff and
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: some of that community and, danger and it slows certain things.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: Down SO i think we're all learning the dangerous impacts
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: that The internet can. Have While i'm not taking away
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: from some of the ways it probably does foster independence
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: in terms, of, OH i have a really niche interest
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: THAT i didn't know, existed and then you dive really
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: deep in that community AND i don't, Know i'm having
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: a job right now THAT i didn't THINK i knew.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: Existed WHEN i was growing, UP i was, like you
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: can have a job That's internet, like, Yeah SO i
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: think the kids are actually learning a lot about, That
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: like what if there's a lot of future beekeepers and they're,
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: LIKE i never would have known this except That i'm
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: on TikTok on be talk or whatever it. Is AND
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: i don't. Know it's always it's a give and, take,
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: right you, know you have this, technology you think it's
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: going to do one. Thing we can't predict. It It's Jurassic.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: Park life finds.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: A way.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: It. Is it is stunting them in some. WAYS i
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: do think the research has shown some of.
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: That, Yeah AND i, think, well and now with the
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: robot apocalypse upon us because OF, AI i can't wait
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: for all of the children to be, like why are
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: we so? Irrelevant And i'm, like because of THE, ai
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: no one curved that so here we. ARE. I, yeah
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: there are so many times where a kid will just
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: know something THAT i would have had no. Idea i'd be,
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: like what does your algorithm look? Like give me your
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: pok tell me. That AND i would love for every
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: child to aspire to be a bee. KEEPER i find
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: bees to be so, cool and it's BECAUSE i listened
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: to one podcast episode about bees and they're like social
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: structure and all of the things that have to happen
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: for honey to be. Made AND i was, like, guys
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: bees are. Fascinating uh, yeah, YEAH i was like, EVERYONE
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: i don't know if you know. This bees smarter than
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: all of. Us and we do need kids to care
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: about the. BEES i wish more people would care about
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the bees and less about mowing their. LAWNS i need
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: kids to be on the front lines being, like we're
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: done mowing. Lawns it's bad for the. BEES i want.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Kids independently discovering some niche, interest AND i hope it's
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: as pleasant as. Bees i'm obviously projecting THAT i want
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: them all to be into, bees BUT i do think
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: there's a lot of information out there THAT i didn't
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: have access, to and it's kind of exciting in.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: That my niche interest BECAUSE i was unsupervised in front
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: of THE, tv Was Christian. Slater so imagine IF i
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: had had the. Internet BECAUSE i got to Watch Christian
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: slater's dark rom Com Untamed heart where He's have you
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: seen that? Movie? Yeah no one else has seen that,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: movie but we're the only. Two were the only. TWO
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: i begged my sister to watch it with. ME i
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: assumed that she was watching it with me because we
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: both Watched welcome to The, dollhouse another niche interest of. Mine,
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: oh brit lit brittlet was also my niche. Interest LIKE
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: i Loved Angus thons in full frontal snogging AND i
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: would read any book that was about a teenager In.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Britain that's a great.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Interest.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Yeah But Christian slater And Untamed. HEART i watched it
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: every time it was ON. TV i know the movie by.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: Heart and WHEN i described the movie to, people people were,
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: like what are you talking? About AND i was, like,
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: Well Christian slater had a bab Boom kane's heart AND
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: i don't know why you can't follow this. Plot he
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: dies at a hockey. GAME i don't know.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: What are want they saying?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Here People Marissa tomay is probably actually my first, crush
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: AND i keep giving it To Christian. SLATER i love that,
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: movie And Rosie perez is in. It More Rosie.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: PEREZ i think you need an episode On Untamed.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Heart i'll do. It i'll do it in a. HEARTBEAT
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: i tried to get The bechdel cast to put me.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: ON i wrote them a very impassioned email about, LIKE
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: i don't know if you've Seen Untamed, hearts BUT i
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: feel like we'd have a lot to talk about spam.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Movies did you see the? Drama DID i convince you
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: you did? It did see? It how did you feel after?
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: It? WELL i suspected THAT i would feel this, way
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: but it was hard for me to get past the subject.
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Matter the idea of a school shooting was too close to. Home, yeah,
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: personally AND i think it impacted my enjoyment of the.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: Movie but DID i Think Robert pattinson And zindea had incredible?
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: CHEMISTRY i sure. Did DID i think a lot of
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: him brought something to that movie that was A Junu
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: siqua Absolutely and the guy who played a lot of
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: him's husband was in A netflix series THAT i absolutely.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: LOVED i think it was Like lodge sixty nine or.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Something, yeah he's a good. One he's like a SECRET
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: i got more of him and. Everything when he pops,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: Up i'm always, LIKE i know you AND i know
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: that this will be. Great.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: YEAH i need to place him now BECAUSE i feel
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: bad THAT i potentially misremembered this series that was gripping to.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: ME i THINK i watched in The pandemic and that
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: whole time period for me is completely. Blurred, yeah, no
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: that what. TIME i know there were YEARS i don't remember.
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Them Tiger kaneurcane. Happened oh, yes, yes that is what. Happened,
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: YESTERDAY i drove by the mall Where i'm pretty convinced
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: THAT i Met Tiger kane as a. Child he put
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: up the map of where his tour used to go
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: with him and his tigers and his baby, tigers AND
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: i was, like there used to be tigers at The
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: Michigan City mall when we would go there for cheap
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: candy before we went to the movie. Theater AND i
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: Swear i've Met Tiger. KANE i never held a, tiger
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: BUT i probably Met Tiger. Kane my mom denies. It she's,
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: like there's no way.
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: SAY i looked it. Up it's archived eighty One. No,
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: sixty different, Show BUT.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: I BELIEVE i know that. Show Is Noah wiley also
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: in that show or is it a different? MILLENNIAL i
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: think it's a different. Show, yeah but all power to
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: know A, Wiley all power to know A. Wiley AND
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: i hope that he's not taking anything that the pit
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: pants are saying to heart about his actual. PERSONALITY i
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: hope so.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: TOO sep great art from the.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Artist maybe that just because Doctor robbie is going through
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: it does not mean we have to Villainize, noah my
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: sweet Baby. NOAH i, EXPECTED i, thought as a single
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: woman who never actually has to deal, WELL i do
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: cry about it once a week because NOW i have
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: nephews and one of the THINGS i like to do
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: is to trick myself into believing that scary things are,
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: happening and THEN i think about them and THEN i,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: cry and they usually revolve around my. Nephews BUT i did,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: think LIKE i kept using the word. BOLD i was,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: like that's so bold to not even give people the
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: warning that that's what it was going to. Be BECAUSE
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: a twenty four is very tricky when it comes to their,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: trailers they tell you, nothing they give you.
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Nothing, yeah they did a really good. JOB i think
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: of making it look like a twist WHEN i was
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: listening To Good noticings podcast AND i Think claire said
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: it's a premise AND i was, like that's, true that's.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Yeah you, know the whole movie rests on this. Idea
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: how do you really know? Somebody what is unconditional? Love
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: what are we willing to forgive and? Accept and are
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: you ever really do you ever really know the? Person you're?
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Right you ever really know yourself because you're always.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: Evolving and is intent the same as, action is as
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: ponishable as? Action what is even? Intent did she ever
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: really have the? Intent was she just play? Acting there's
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: so many layers to that, Movie like every line puts
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: in another like little like edge in your brain where you're, like,
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: well NOW i don't know WHERE i side with, again
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: because her dad just said that she liked to play
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: pretend a lot and that's how she was. Coping so
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: NOW i never actually know if she meant it or
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: if she was just play. Acting, yeah but it does
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: repluct the trust economy Because Robert pattinson was going through
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: the trust economy during the, movie and it very. Much
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: there's so much to that, movie BUT i won't make
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: you discuss it because it bothered you and it should bother.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: YOU i can't help. It BUT i want to explore
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: that in a separate time because we are running out of.
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Art we are running AND i want to make sure
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: we get to all the, things, yes that we need
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: to get.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: To well right, now what we can't move into BECAUSE
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: i think we've talked about everything on my outline just,
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: naturally which is how this show. GOES i write an,
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: OUTLINE i ignore, it and THEN i, go thank, god
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: we did. It what is a lesson that you think
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: we can take away from this episode in our conversation
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: or about being a woman who works in media or
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: has to intake media that's meant for.
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: Women, YEAH i think the lesson here would be media
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: literacy and if you are going to trust, someone make
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: sure that you really make an effort to understand their,
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: platform their, motivation what media they've been, taken and what
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: narrative they're trying to. Push AND i think some media
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: can be. Amazing i've learned so. Much i've learned from
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: PEOPLE i didn't even know. ABOUT i FIND i go
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: down rabbit. Holes but the key thing is not just
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: to go forward without double checking or fact. Checking so you,
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: know everybody should really invest in media. Literacy, no maybe
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: we should teach a.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: Course, OH i like, it. Pattentent what is a manifestation
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: that you would like to offer up into our general?
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: COLLECTIVE i would like to manifest more opportunity for. EVERYONE
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: i think we're all. Worried at LEAST i can speak for.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: MYSELF i think the specter of WHAT ai is going
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: to do and what it has done and what the
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: future looks like with the environment feels very do. Me
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: SO i want to manifest creating hope in that, space
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: and hope to me looks like. Opportunity and what can
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: we do? Better what can we create out of?
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: This what could we prioritize instead of prioritizing writing a
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: shitty email for me WHEN i was perfectly capable of
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: writing a shitty. Email that's what always gives. Me i'm,
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: like y'all are USING ai to write shitty Emails when
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: you yourself know how to write a shi.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: You can do on your.
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Own you can do this on your. Own, Kat you're
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: going to have to come back because we wit right
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: up to, times which means that there's so much more to.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Say but why don't you let the listeners, know thank
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: you so much for, coming let them know where they
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: can continue to see, you interact with, you and keep
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: up with.
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: You that's, amazing and thank you so much for having.
