- 0:00Dave Hamilton: Business Brain, episode 758 for Wednesday, June 3rd, National Tailor's Day, 2026.
- 0:08Shannon Jean: Welcome back to a tailor. Who's going to a tailor?
- 0:14Dave Hamilton: You know what? Let's talk about this.
- 0:16Shannon Jean: Yeah, I mean, it's crazy.
- 0:17Dave Hamilton: I have a question. I have something to say about this.
- 0:20Shannon Jean: Okay, okay. I mean, I get it when you have to get a tux or whatever,
- 0:23Shannon Jean: some special event, and you need to buy a suit.
- 0:25Shannon Jean: But I started my first business so I'd never have to wear a suit.
- 0:36Dave Hamilton: Greetings, folks, and welcome to Business Brain, the show by,
- 0:38Dave Hamilton: for, and about entrepreneurs where we dissect a topic or three so that we can
- 0:44Dave Hamilton: continue to level up our charmed lives.
- 0:48Dave Hamilton: Our sponsors for this episode include oneskin.co slash brain,
- 0:52Dave Hamilton: where you can get 15% off of oneskin and all other products with the code brain.
- 0:57Dave Hamilton: And also bitdefender.com slash brain, where you can save 30% on Bitdefender
- 1:02Dave Hamilton: Ultimate Small Business Security. We'll talk about both of those in a little bit.
- 1:05Dave Hamilton: For now, here in the New Hampshire seacoast, I'm Dave Hamilton.
- 1:09Shannon Jean: Oh, that's a new one. I like that. Here in sunny, beautiful Northern California, I'm Shannon Jean.
- 1:13Shannon Jean: Hey, that one skin stuff is pretty amazing, I have to tell you.
- 1:17Dave Hamilton: I know.
- 1:17Shannon Jean: I've been using that, and my wife was like, you know, you need some eye cream.
- 1:21Dave Hamilton: Well, I did an experiment with that. I'll share in a little bit.
- 1:25Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's cool. Yeah, I've got something to share.
- 1:27Shannon Jean: It's pretty impressive.
- 1:28Dave Hamilton: It is pretty impressive. I love it, yeah. But let's talk about,
- 1:31Dave Hamilton: let's talk about Taylor's because I, I like, I, when I realized it was national
- 1:37Dave Hamilton: Taylor's day, I put it on the list for a reason.
- 1:38Dave Hamilton: Cause I was like, I bet, I bet we're both like thinking the same thing. Who goes to a Taylor?
- 1:42Dave Hamilton: I was recently at a Taylor because my daughter's getting married and I'm,
- 1:47Dave Hamilton: I'm renting a tuxedo cause that's how it works.
- 1:52Dave Hamilton: Now, first of all, the whole tuxedo rental thing, like I really should have just bought a tuxedo. I.
- 1:59Shannon Jean: Think you probably yeah especially this day and age you can find the deals I think that's probably
- 2:05Dave Hamilton: True yeah I think I think I'm where would you wear it well I mean that's the
- 2:08Dave Hamilton: thing is like you know is my son gonna get married at some point probably right
- 2:13Dave Hamilton: so I mean it's a it's a hedge true because I think I paid like 250 bucks just
- 2:18Dave Hamilton: shy of 250 it was like 230 or something for a tux,
- 2:22Dave Hamilton: and and then like I think I could buy one for less than a thousand bucks,
- 2:27Dave Hamilton: like it would be fine and so you know i gotta wear it three times to make it
- 2:32Dave Hamilton: worth my while and will i have a gig where i need to wear a tux oh that's kind
- 2:37Dave Hamilton: of cool if so not only not only does does it pay for itself you can write it off you got that right.
- 2:43Shannon Jean: You need to plan that
- 2:44Dave Hamilton: Gig i do need to plan that gig yeah yeah but like
- 2:48Dave Hamilton: you know i think it's realistic that i
- 2:51Dave Hamilton: might need to wear a tuxedo three more times in
- 2:54Dave Hamilton: my life from this point onward and so i really should
- 2:57Dave Hamilton: have bought one but uh i didn't because it's just was how things went you know
- 3:01Dave Hamilton: yeah but i but yeah the whole concept of tailors like talk about a business
- 3:07Dave Hamilton: that is like i think it's it's got to be on its way out or at least evolving like how.
- 3:16Shannon Jean: Many tailors are there in your town
- 3:18Dave Hamilton: None I don't know where I would go. Yeah, exactly.
- 3:23Shannon Jean: We did find when my wife needed some stuff done. Yeah, it is interesting.
- 3:34Dave Hamilton: Cobblers, too, right?
- 3:36Shannon Jean: Cobblers, too.
- 3:36Dave Hamilton: Cobblers, too. Do you get a pair of shoes fixed or do you just buy a new pair of shoes?
- 3:40Dave Hamilton: You buy a new pair of shoes. The cost of human labor right now in this country.
- 3:45Dave Hamilton: If I could send it off to somewhere else where labor is cheaper and all that stuff.
- 3:49Dave Hamilton: But now i'm paying shipping and like all this stuff it's not going to actually
- 3:51Dave Hamilton: be worth it in the end but here i mean somebody's got to get you know to have
- 3:57Dave Hamilton: a storefront and like all of that stuff they've got to charge you you know a
- 4:02Dave Hamilton: minimum of 100 bucks an hour i would think yeah yeah.
- 4:05Shannon Jean: But it is interesting with like gary v made this comment i think i've said it here before uh he
- 4:13Shannon Jean: in the age where we're going to be living like the Jetsons.
- 4:17Shannon Jean: Yeah. You wanna be like the Flintstones and create something that has connection
- 4:22Shannon Jean: and, you know, this kind of thing.
- 4:24Shannon Jean: And it reminds me of, there's a lot of barbershops now that are kind of retro
- 4:31Shannon Jean: barbershop where you go in, it's old school.
- 4:34Shannon Jean: You can get a beer, you hang out, do your thing. And they're trying to,
- 4:38Shannon Jean: you know, have this great experience. I go to one that's really good.
- 4:41Dave Hamilton: It's the experience. That's what we were paying for is experiences. Yeah.
- 4:45Shannon Jean: So maybe the tailor thing has to be, hey, like, I don't like buying clothes at all.
- 4:54Shannon Jean: And it would be interesting to have that, hey, you pick out,
- 4:58Shannon Jean: I don't know, there's our companies doing this, right?
- 5:00Shannon Jean: Where they'll help you with your clothing and all that kind of stuff.
- 5:02Dave Hamilton: Yeah, but a lot of that now is being done. You take a picture of yourself with
- 5:06Dave Hamilton: your phone and then it puts the clothes on you.
- 5:09Dave Hamilton: And it, like, I've used some of those. They work great. Yeah.
- 5:12Shannon Jean: Yeah, it does work great. It is interesting. And the free return stuff where
- 5:16Shannon Jean: you can buy stuff at Amazon, Amazon wardrobe or whatever they call it. Yeah.
- 5:19Shannon Jean: Where you can buy like five or you get like five pairs of shoes and you send
- 5:22Shannon Jean: back whatever you don't want.
- 5:23Dave Hamilton: Yeah, or whatever. Yeah, however many you don't want. Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 5:29Dave Hamilton: It's interesting seeing these businesses that just don't quite have a place.
- 5:40Dave Hamilton: Well, yeah.
- 5:42Shannon Jean: I'll tell you, it's kind of an interesting correlation. So I grew up in this
- 5:46Shannon Jean: town called Walnut Creek, which has grown like insane, right?
- 5:50Shannon Jean: There's Tiffany's and an Apple store. It was nothing when I used to ride my
- 5:54Shannon Jean: bike downtown as a kid, you know, that kind of stuff.
- 5:57Shannon Jean: And one day I used to get my haircut at this barber that was right downtown.
- 6:02Shannon Jean: And I struck up a conversation with this guy.
- 6:05Shannon Jean: He kind of became a friend. We talked a lot. I did a deal when I was in the
- 6:08Shannon Jean: TV business. I traded him some TVs for like a year's worth of haircuts.
- 6:12Shannon Jean: We did a barter thing and we got to talking.
- 6:15Shannon Jean: I was like, Alan, how do you afford to be like, he's literally a block from Tiffany's.
- 6:21Shannon Jean: But there's a lot of these small little places downtown. town.
- 6:25Shannon Jean: And he said something that really shocked me. He said, oh, the city pays half my rent.
- 6:30Dave Hamilton: Oh, what? Oh, to keep the charm or whatever. Yes. It's part of the charm, the small town.
- 6:37Shannon Jean: Yes. And I was like, holy smokes.
- 6:41Shannon Jean: That makes total sense because this one section of downtown is still full of
- 6:48Shannon Jean: small, I think there might be a cobbler.
- 6:51Shannon Jean: There's a couple, there's like a family jewelry store.
- 6:55Shannon Jean: There is this bar shop. There's some little clothing stores.
- 6:59Shannon Jean: And I'm like, how do you guys
- 7:00Dave Hamilton: Make any money? They didn't name the store the family jewels, did they?
- 7:02Shannon Jean: No, that would be good,
- 7:04Dave Hamilton: Though.
- 7:04Shannon Jean: That's a good name. That's a missed opportunity.
- 7:05Dave Hamilton: It's a total missed opportunity.
- 7:07Shannon Jean: Missed opportunity. So that totally makes sense that the city is subsidizing
- 7:13Shannon Jean: to keep these lifestyle businesses open, which is pretty commendable.
- 7:20Dave Hamilton: It's fascinating. Well, I mean, and let's be very clear when the city does this,
- 7:25Dave Hamilton: that's you and me, right? We fund that.
- 7:28Shannon Jean: Using our tax dollars.
- 7:29Dave Hamilton: In this case, it's you because I don't live over there. But,
- 7:31Dave Hamilton: you know, like if you want, if that kind of small town charm is the kind of
- 7:38Dave Hamilton: thing that's important to you for your charmed life, which is a big picture,
- 7:42Dave Hamilton: then that's okay to pay for. Like, I'm not against this.
- 7:46Dave Hamilton: I kind of like, what an interesting.
- 7:49Dave Hamilton: Yeah, it's cool because... But it is good to know that, like...
- 7:52Dave Hamilton: You are subsidizing this. You're either subsidizing it by paying the cobbler,
- 7:57Dave Hamilton: you know, $250 an hour for their time, or you can pay them $75 an hour for their
- 8:02Dave Hamilton: time and then have the rest come out the back end. Yes. Either way.
- 8:06Shannon Jean: Whatever you like. And I don't think, every time I mention this to people, they're shocked.
- 8:10Shannon Jean: It's not like it's a known, maybe at some city council meeting,
- 8:15Dave Hamilton: They voted on it.
- 8:16Shannon Jean: I'm sure you'd know. Of course. But I thought that was okay.
- 8:20Shannon Jean: Okay, this is kind of cool because the other part of the downtown,
- 8:23Shannon Jean: which is developed into, there's an Apple store, Tiffany's, a bunch of big places.
- 8:28Shannon Jean: It's kind of soulless, right? Yeah.
- 8:31Shannon Jean: You're not going to go hang out and walk around. But downtown,
- 8:34Shannon Jean: a little further down, old downtown, lots of people walk up and down the street,
- 8:38Shannon Jean: tons of restaurants, ice cream places, all the stuff in its prime, prime real estate.
- 8:44Shannon Jean: And so I think they're like, okay, but let's protect this.
- 8:47Dave Hamilton: Yeah.
- 8:48Shannon Jean: Which is pretty cool for a small business owner.
- 8:50Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Well, I mean, you have to think about it from the standpoint of the townspeople, right?
- 8:55Dave Hamilton: I mean, it's a wonderful kind of serendipitous thing for the business owners,
- 9:01Dave Hamilton: but this is not about the business owners. They're not trying to save the small businesses.
- 9:07Dave Hamilton: No. You as a town are choosing.
- 9:09Shannon Jean: Experience.
- 9:10Dave Hamilton: Yes. And here we are again. I mean, where did this conversation start?
- 9:14Dave Hamilton: We said, really, all we pay for these days is experiences.
- 9:17Dave Hamilton: And that's what we've described. We're paying for experiences.
- 9:21Shannon Jean: Yeah. There's a couple of, like, one guy, Dave Chappelle, another guy who wrote all those...
- 9:28Shannon Jean: Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. They sold like 300 million copies.
- 9:33Shannon Jean: And Dave Chappelle's very wealthy from his shows can be comedy and all that stuff.
- 9:37Shannon Jean: Chappelle basically bought a town in Ohio.
- 9:41Shannon Jean: He owns all the, he's bought these buildings as the downtown has kind of become dilapidated.
- 9:48Shannon Jean: So he like, oh, well, let's build this and let's buy, I'll buy that building and we'll build a club.
- 9:53Shannon Jean: I'll buy this and we'll build this. So he's become the major owner of this city where he's at.
- 10:00Shannon Jean: And the Diary of a Wimpy Kid author, same thing. He's like, hey, I love this area.
- 10:06Shannon Jean: Let's buy, we need, I want to build a bookstore.
- 10:09Shannon Jean: And I want to be able to invite authors to come do book signings from the middle of nowhere.
- 10:13Shannon Jean: And I think he's invested, yeah, like tens of millions of dollars into buying
- 10:21Shannon Jean: up spots in these towns. So it's kind of cool to protect.
- 10:26Shannon Jean: If you want to protect it, you've got to come up with a way to do it or else
- 10:30Shannon Jean: it's just going to be strip malls and high-end stores,
- 10:33Dave Hamilton: Right? Right. I mean, it's an interesting – this is fascinating to me.
- 10:39Dave Hamilton: Like we live in a capitalist society, which means money is the currency.
- 10:49Dave Hamilton: Yes.
- 10:50Shannon Jean: Yes, it is.
- 10:52Dave Hamilton: And it's competitive.
- 10:54Shannon Jean: It's competitive.
- 10:55Dave Hamilton: Right.
- 10:55Shannon Jean: Best of business wins. Everybody else goes out of business.
- 10:58Dave Hamilton: Right. And it's survival of the fittest and all of that stuff.
- 11:01Dave Hamilton: But but what's interesting about this is we and again, it's,
- 11:07Dave Hamilton: you know, the the the sub the subsets of we that are that make up all our different
- 11:11Dave Hamilton: little towns, some subsets of we are deciding that.
- 11:18Dave Hamilton: The winners aren't necessarily, aren't always the businesses that make the most money.
- 11:26Dave Hamilton: Yeah. We are choosing winners as opposed to letting sort of the natural progression
- 11:31Dave Hamilton: of things choose winners.
- 11:33Dave Hamilton: Yeah. And I like, I mean, I love that we have the freedom to choose to do that.
- 11:39Dave Hamilton: Like, you know, it's not from everywhere.
- 11:41Shannon Jean: Go down, talk to your city. And like right above the barbershop I was talking
- 11:48Shannon Jean: about downtown, there's like a ballet studio for little kids.
- 11:51Shannon Jean: So that brings lots of parents downtown and they're there.
- 11:55Shannon Jean: And then I'm sure they go shop and there's like all kinds of interesting things.
- 12:00Shannon Jean: So it's pretty fascinating. But if you ever get a chance to walk downtown Walnut
- 12:03Shannon Jean: Creek, you'll get to see what I'm talking about.
- 12:05Shannon Jean: If you live in a town that has some kind of system like this,
- 12:09Shannon Jean: that's protecting those experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
- 12:12Shannon Jean: Maybe you have a business there. Feedback at businessbrain.show.
- 12:15Shannon Jean: Yeah. Let us know what you think of it.
- 12:17Dave Hamilton: Like he said, feedback at businessbrain.show. We've got other things to talk about.
- 12:21Dave Hamilton: I don't really know what they are because the agenda is all upside down now,
- 12:24Dave Hamilton: and I love that. It's good.
- 12:26Dave Hamilton: Me too. So I'm looking forward to finding out what it is we talk about after
- 12:30Dave Hamilton: we tell you about this week's sponsors.
- 12:34Dave Hamilton: All right. Look, we're entrepreneurs, and we obsess over optimizing everything.
- 12:39Dave Hamilton: Everything, our systems, our schedules, our tools.
- 12:42Dave Hamilton: But sometimes between the late nights and the early mornings,
- 12:46Dave Hamilton: we forget to optimize the face that we are showing the world.
- 12:51Dave Hamilton: That's part of the charm life that nobody really talks about.
- 12:54Dave Hamilton: I've been using our sponsor, OneSkin's face and eye for six weeks now.
- 12:59Dave Hamilton: And here's something wild.
- 13:01Dave Hamilton: I actually ran my before and after photos through an AI comparison tool.
- 13:05Dave Hamilton: I fed it in and, you know, asked it to compare.
- 13:08Dave Hamilton: And I gave it a bunch of different pictures from the same spot.
- 13:11Dave Hamilton: Measurable improvement.
- 13:13Dave Hamilton: Smoother forehead. More even skin texture. Less puff under my eyes in six weeks.
- 13:19Dave Hamilton: Here's why it works. One Skin was founded by longevity researchers who asked
- 13:24Dave Hamilton: a genuinely nerdy question.
- 13:26Dave Hamilton: What if instead of covering up aging skin, you could switch off the damaged
- 13:31Dave Hamilton: cells actually causing it?
- 13:33Dave Hamilton: That led to OS1, their proprietary peptide, the first ingredient proven to reduce
- 13:40Dave Hamilton: those senescent cells and slow skin aging at the source.
- 13:45Dave Hamilton: It fits right into whatever you're already doing, backed by four peer-reviewed
- 13:50Dave Hamilton: clinical studies and over 10,000 five-star reviews.
- 13:54Dave Hamilton: Born from over a decade of longevity research, OneSkin's OS1 peptide is proven
- 14:01Dave Hamilton: to target the visible signs of aging, helping you unlock your healthiest skin now and as you age.
- 14:07Dave Hamilton: For a limited time, try OneSkin with 15% off using code BRAIN at oneskin.co slash BRAIN.
- 14:16Dave Hamilton: That's 15% off oneskin.co with code BRAIN. After you purchase,
- 14:22Dave Hamilton: they'll ask where you heard about them.
- 14:24Dave Hamilton: Please, of course, support Business Brain and let them know that we sent you.
- 14:28Dave Hamilton: Try it out. I think you're going to like it. I certainly do.
- 14:30Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to OneSkin for sponsoring this episode.
- 14:35Dave Hamilton: And every entrepreneur I know has a story, right? We all do.
- 14:38Dave Hamilton: A client relationship they spent years building, a contract that finally came
- 14:42Dave Hamilton: through, a reputation they'd protect with everything they've got.
- 14:46Dave Hamilton: That's part of the charmed life, right? And it's also exactly what cyber criminals are targeting.
- 14:51Dave Hamilton: Here's the scam I keep hearing about. Somebody gets a text that looks like it's
- 14:55Dave Hamilton: from their bank, clicks a verify your account link, and hands over their login
- 15:00Dave Hamilton: credentials without even realizing it.
- 15:03Dave Hamilton: Next morning, they're locked out of their own business accounts.
- 15:06Dave Hamilton: It happens faster than you'd think.
- 15:08Dave Hamilton: And that's why Bitdefender, our sponsor, stands out to me.
- 15:12Dave Hamilton: Bitdefender is a global leader in cybersecurity, and their ultimate small business
- 15:16Dave Hamilton: security is built specifically for businesses with 25 or fewer employees,
- 15:21Dave Hamilton: people like us who don't have an IT team on speed dial.

- 15:30Dave Hamilton: tricks, dark web and identity monitoring, password management,
- 15:34Dave Hamilton: unlimited VPN, and one centralized dashboard to manage the whole team.
- 15:39Dave Hamilton: It's so thorough that my Wi-Fi router sent Bitdefender a thank you note.
- 15:44Dave Hamilton: Keep your small business safe with Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security
- 15:49Dave Hamilton: and save 30% when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 15:53Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off. Check it out.
- 15:58Dave Hamilton: I think you're going to like it. And our thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this episode.
- 16:03Dave Hamilton: Shannon, we got an email. It came in.
- 16:07Dave Hamilton: I, you know, I'm going to say it. It came in while we were recording the episode.
- 16:12Dave Hamilton: That doesn't have to be true, but it sounds great.
- 16:15Dave Hamilton: We it's from listener Ian, and he had a couple of things to say.
- 16:21Dave Hamilton: One, I'll start with the well, last week we we screwed up.
- 16:29Dave Hamilton: We published the uh
- 16:33Dave Hamilton: many of you pointed this out to us in among the among you
- 16:36Dave Hamilton: uh that when you got wednesday's episode
- 16:39Dave Hamilton: you pressed play and you heard the friday i episode
- 16:42Dave Hamilton: yeah and and then when you went to play friday i you also got the friday i episode
- 16:47Dave Hamilton: ah well it because of the way some podcast clients work we we got an email from
- 16:54Dave Hamilton: from one of you very quickly on wednesday that this problem it happened. It was a screw up.
- 17:00Dave Hamilton: This one was on me. I put the same file name in for both.
- 17:04Dave Hamilton: So we published the Wednesday episode and then Friday's episode got published
- 17:09Dave Hamilton: and overwrote it because that's just how the system works.
- 17:12Dave Hamilton: So we quickly republished Wednesday with a different name so we weren't playing
- 17:17Dave Hamilton: chicken and egg and everything is good.
- 17:20Dave Hamilton: If you go back and play Wednesday now, if you force a refresh in your podcast
- 17:24Dave Hamilton: client, it would be there.
- 17:25Dave Hamilton: Many of you kind of went and did that and figured it out. But that was on us,
- 17:29Dave Hamilton: and so thank you for letting us know.
- 17:33Dave Hamilton: Ian had lots of things to say. One was about our intro music.
- 17:41Dave Hamilton: He says, I remember the discussion when you introduced the new song, and I like the track.
- 17:45Dave Hamilton: Lately, though, he says, the combination of conversation happening over music
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: with lyrics can be a little difficult to follow as a listener.
- 17:52Dave Hamilton: I find myself trying to listen to both at the same time, and neither gets my full attention.
- 17:58Dave Hamilton: I noticed the music volume has come down recently, which helped,
- 18:01Dave Hamilton: but it also made me wonder whether the music is adding as much value as it could.
- 18:05Dave Hamilton: No strong recommendation here, just sharing what I'm hearing as a regular listener.
- 18:08Dave Hamilton: So there's other things he said, but I want to talk about this because I've
- 18:11Dave Hamilton: noticed it too. Like we never used to talk over the intro music.
- 18:14Dave Hamilton: And now that there's lyrics, the conversation just starts.
- 18:18Shannon Jean: That's interesting.
- 18:19Dave Hamilton: And I think.
- 18:20Shannon Jean: I do it because I feel like it's a little long and I don't know what to do with
- 18:25Shannon Jean: myself while it's playing.
- 18:26Dave Hamilton: It is long. Like, let's look. This song is 28 seconds and the previous intro was 14.
- 18:34Shannon Jean: Yeah. Yeah. So I'm just one of these people that I wish I wasn't like this,
- 18:40Shannon Jean: but I'm filling the silence with, you know, with words.
- 18:46Dave Hamilton: But like we start talking right away. I don't think it's just that.
- 18:50Dave Hamilton: It's because we had 14 seconds of silence before and occasionally we would say something.
- 18:54Dave Hamilton: But now it's like 100% of the time we hear welcome back and now we're just like in.
- 19:00Shannon Jean: And then we start talking. Yeah. Well, maybe we should stop it at welcome back
- 19:03Shannon Jean: or maybe we don't even need it all. I don't think it adds, I don't think it's
- 19:07Shannon Jean: additive to this show at all.
- 19:10Dave Hamilton: I agree. Yeah, I agree. It wouldn't matter.
- 19:13Shannon Jean: I think we could just stop. We could just start. It wouldn't matter to me.
- 19:17Shannon Jean: I like the song. I think it's cool. It kind of gets me going and ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.
- 19:22Shannon Jean: Or we just have to shut up for 28 seconds or cut it shorter. I don't know.
- 19:28Dave Hamilton: Or have music that says, welcome back and nothing else. And then we can talk
- 19:33Dave Hamilton: while the music sort of fades through. I'm up for that too. I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:36Shannon Jean: Let's try it.
- 19:37Dave Hamilton: I'm cool with that. It's interesting. Yeah.
- 19:39Shannon Jean: Yeah, it is interesting. Yeah. I think it's good.
- 19:42Dave Hamilton: All right. Let me see.
- 19:45Dave Hamilton: He had a lot of comments about our business blueprints. Did you look at these,
- 19:51Dave Hamilton: Shannon? Did you see this? No.
- 19:53Shannon Jean: Okay. I saw your comment. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet,
- 19:55Shannon Jean: but I saw it in Slack. You mentioned it, I think.
- 19:57Dave Hamilton: And I love these comments, but we are using AI to generate this from the transcript
- 20:07Dave Hamilton: of the show, and there's some edit notes that Ian made.
- 20:11Dave Hamilton: The AI is not alone in referring to you as she, her, Shannon.
- 20:17Shannon Jean: I can't break it. Right. I'm misgendered by every AI out there.
- 20:23Dave Hamilton: Of course you are. Right. Yeah. I guess if there was one that was maybe trained
- 20:28Dave Hamilton: on Irish data, like predominantly. Maybe. Maybe.
- 20:32Shannon Jean: I think we have to – what you have to do is tell – it has to be part of the prompt every time.
- 20:37Dave Hamilton: That's a good point. Yeah.
- 20:38Shannon Jean: It's all you have to do. Because when I was doing it before to create intros,
- 20:43Shannon Jean: it would always – I had to tell it every time.
- 20:47Shannon Jean: Use we, not – or whatever.
- 20:50Dave Hamilton: Yeah, right, right, right. answer.
- 20:50Shannon Jean: Yeah so we probably need to add that to uh to the uh
- 20:54Dave Hamilton: To the prompt yeah so thank you ian i and everybody
- 20:58Dave Hamilton: who wrote in it like it's it's very much appreciated
- 21:01Dave Hamilton: and we love the feedback at businessbrain.show and
- 21:04Dave Hamilton: i mean that as an email address and also as a concept because we love feedback
- 21:08Dave Hamilton: here absolutely brain.show yeah but the email address isn't feedback here it
- 21:13Dave Hamilton: could be but it's not it's feedback at businessbrain.show all right uh i think
- 21:17Dave Hamilton: that gets us through uh that's That's all the time we have today,
- 21:22Dave Hamilton: folks. That's it. Thanks for hanging out.
- 21:24Shannon Jean: Get you in and out quick.
- 21:25Dave Hamilton: I do have a question, though.
- 21:27Dave Hamilton: What is this episode's big takeaway, Shannon?
- 21:33Shannon Jean: I would say the big takeaway are think about your business and how you make
- 21:38Shannon Jean: the experience special and unique instead of just always the product.
- 21:44Shannon Jean: It doesn't matter if you're an HVAC person or an accountant or whatever.
- 21:49Shannon Jean: What experience is or are, whatever the grammar is, your client's looking for?
- 21:56Dave Hamilton: So this is interesting we've said every business
- 21:59Dave Hamilton: is in the customer service business and i believe that's
- 22:02Dave Hamilton: true and uh we've said more recently
- 22:05Dave Hamilton: every business is in the content business and and i believe that's true i i
- 22:10Dave Hamilton: don't i don't i don't i think we could probably find exceptions to that rule
- 22:14Dave Hamilton: uh probably it's i don't know that it's every but you know yeah prove that you
- 22:18Dave Hamilton: are not is is what i would where i would start with that because i think most
- 22:22Dave Hamilton: businesses are in the content business.
- 22:24Dave Hamilton: And now we are saying every business is in the experience business.
- 22:29Shannon Jean: Yeah, I think that's powerful, man. That's the takeaway for me because you have
- 22:33Shannon Jean: to put yourself in your buyers, your clients, whatever.
- 22:38Shannon Jean: And the experience from buying from you online and shipping and tracking and
- 22:43Shannon Jean: getting it and opening the box, what experience are they going to have?
- 22:46Shannon Jean: And like this downtown, if you're a local business, what experience are your people coming into
- 22:52Dave Hamilton: I like it i like it too that's it all right thanks for hanging out folks we
- 22:57Dave Hamilton: will uh tell the band to take us on the on its way on our way and uh keep living
- 23:02Dave Hamilton: that charmed life we'll see on.
