- Jessica Figueroa: Hello, listeners. Welcome to Just for Today. My name is Cindy. Today's lesson comes straight out of one of my favorite, favorite children's books, but I actually have a lot of favorite children's books. I would read just children's books. I love the pictures, I love the illustrations, I love the story, I love the morals, I love everything about children's great children's books. So this one comes from a story called Miss Rumpheus. And in this story, there is a woman that from a young girl, she had Three things she wanted to do in her life. And she would tell her grandfather, I want to go to faraway places, I want to live by the sea, and I want to do something to make the world more beautiful. These were her life goals from the time she was young. And then as she ages, the book takes you through her life and she goes to faraway places because she travels a lot. And then towards the end of her life, she gets a cottage by the sea. So now she's done these two things, but she doesn't feel like she's done anything yet to make the world more beautiful. But now she's old and she doesn't know what to do. So she starts spending her own money to buy seeds and she would these seeds would come in the mail to lupine flowers. And she would start to go on walks every day and scatter these seeds and plant them. And then over the years all these lupines would bloom every single year because she invested in buying seeds and going on walks and scattering the seeds. And she realized that beauty in and itself. in and of itself is a gift. So how she made the world a more beautiful place was simply by adding flowers, wildflowers, around the place she lived. And how many people enjoyed that or it brought joy or cheer to them? But she did invest in this. And the idea is that ordinary acts, ordinary acts of beauty and kindness can leave a lasting legacy in the age of influencing and social media. We all think it has to be something so huge. No, if we make our small world a better place and everybody did that, that is the best way to go out and make everything better than you found it. So what is something you could do, like Miss Rumpheus did with the lu pines? What is something you can do to leave the world a little bit more beautiful because you were in it? Just for today, we're gonna leave the world a little bit more beautiful.
