- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And in order to be effective in really truly leveraging your social capital, it really requires you to have what I like to call a connector's mindset.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And the connector's mindset really centers around my belief, my core belief, that success in any endeavor is 80% mindset, or at least 80% mindset and somewhere up to 20% execution and strategy.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: Because what we believe about ourselves, what we believe about the outcomes, what we believe about what it is that we're doing is going to impact whether or not we're successful in the very thing.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And so oftentimes I'll get people who come to the challenge or clients, they'll start with, I don't know that I have anything to offer.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: I don't want to feel like I'm bothering anyone.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: And so immediately that tells me that their mindset is still rooted in they're going to take something from someone.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: It also tells me that they may have a little bit of trouble receiving.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So in an attempt to help them through that, what we focus on is building that connector's mindset.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: And so that connectors mindset requires three core things.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: It requires clarity.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So, you know, what are your goals?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Why are you reaching out to the individual?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: What is it that you believe that this person can help or assist you with?
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: It requires curiosity so that when you are engaging with individuals within your network, that you're coming from a place of genuinely wanting to understand what it is that they have going on, what it is that they might need, and where you can fill those gaps.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And then it comes from a place of integrity, meaning that you do what it is that you say that you're going to do.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: So if you say that you're going to send them a resource or you're going to make an introduction, that you actually follow through on that.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Seems simple, but having that mindset and really focusing on the other person makes the steps, which I will share throughout this week around the outreach, around the follow up, around the building the systems a lot easier because now you're grounded in the why you're doing this, the who, and what it is that you have to offer.
