- 3:28Mary Lee: In this episode, we will talk about what is human design and how it is helpful for midlife women.
- 3:35Mary Lee: We'll talk about the five different energy types and shed light on each one of our purposes.
- 3:41Mary Lee: Fun thing coming up on this episode, we're gonna do a real chart.
- 3:46Mary Lee: My chart, you're gonna find out about me a little bit more, my energy type when I was born, and the things that I'm good at and maybe not so good at.
- 3:55Mary Lee: It's gonna be an exciting episode, so stick around.
- 3:59Mary Lee: Welcome to the Menopause Disruptor Podcast.
- 4:01Mary Lee: We have so much ground to cover.
- 4:03Mary Lee: really excited to have you join me, Lori.
- 4:06Lori Lisai: Thank you so much for having me, Mary.
- 4:08Lori Lisai: I am so excited to have found you and to talk about this whole menopause thing.
- 4:16Mary Lee: Yeah, I love that we're both on either side of the spectrum, helping women through perimenopause and menopause, but you're designing whereas I am disrupting.
- 4:29Mary Lee: And
- 4:29Lori Lisai: It's great.
- 4:30Mary Lee: my first question'cause I know the listeners are quite curious, if they don't know what this is already, I have a little bit of knowledge on it, but not much.
- 4:38Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 4:38Mary Lee: us what the heck is human design.
- 4:42Lori Lisai: Yeah, great question.
- 4:44Lori Lisai: Good place to start.
- 4:45Lori Lisai: And essentially it's a tool for self-awareness when you, when you boil it all down, that's the purpose of human design.
- 4:57Lori Lisai: And in terms of what it actually is a collection of systems that meld together.
- 5:06Lori Lisai: And it includes the Chinese ech, the chakra system, astrology, western astrology, and it combines sort of those esoteric systems with science, so quantum mechanics and genetics.
- 5:26Lori Lisai: And it pulls them all together into this big mixing pot and.
- 5:33Lori Lisai: Because of that, because there are so many systems, it's can be pretty complicated.
- 5:39Lori Lisai: So I like to just start with that simplicity of, it's just a tool for self-awareness, and when you learn how to read your chart and start to decipher it, it's about just having language for yourself to navigate what's happening in your life.
- 5:58Mary Lee: Ah, kind of like your North Star or compass to give you new direction
- 6:03Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 6:03Lori Lisai: Love that.
- 6:05Mary Lee: Such a pivotal phase in the life is menopause.
- 6:08Mary Lee: I really like one of the expressions that you use, and I've heard this said before and I've kind of adopted it as well.
- 6:14Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 6:15Mary Lee: a second spring,
- 6:17Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 6:17Mary Lee: stepping into that new season of our life where our role shifts biologically from the reproduction to something more, I dunno, or energetic,
- 6:30Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 6:31Mary Lee: meaningful and purposeful.
- 6:32Mary Lee: So tell us then how human design is so helpful to, for women navigating through the menopausal transition.
- 6:41Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 6:42Lori Lisai: I love how you described that phase of the second STR spring being this invitation into something that feels like a different purpose.
- 6:53Lori Lisai: And especially for those of us who have taken the mothering route and we've Right.
- 6:59Lori Lisai: Gotten to this, this age where our kids are growing up and they don't need us as much.
- 7:07Lori Lisai: And so much of our lives have been rooted in being a mother and helping our children grow into functioning beautiful adults.
- 7:19Lori Lisai: So we get to this phase in our lives and.
- 7:24Lori Lisai: It is, it feels like the roots that we've had are on, you know, not on solid ground anymore, right?
- 7:32Lori Lisai: Like, who are we now in this new phase?
- 7:37Lori Lisai: And the reason I love human design is because it's a tool that brings you back to who you actually came here to be.
- 7:48Lori Lisai: So this is where human design, I, I guess you could say it gets a little woo.
- 7:53Lori Lisai: I'm all about the woo.
- 7:54Lori Lisai: But it's, it's the idea of how we came into this lifetime, choosing the design in our human design.
- 8:05Lori Lisai: And oftentimes in life, we are following other people's expectations and right following a path that.
- 8:14Lori Lisai: Has been laid out by society for us, and it's not until we hit this phase for a lot of women when we're actually asking that question, who am I for me?
- 8:30Lori Lisai: who do I wanna be for me now?
- 8:32Lori Lisai: And this is my opportunity to be true to myself and come back to my truth.
- 8:38Lori Lisai: So human design gives you a literal map for that work and for that curiosity, and it gives you language to root yourself in who you are.
- 8:54Mary Lee: Wow.
- 8:56Mary Lee: Wow.
- 8:56Mary Lee: So impactful, so powerful.
- 8:58Mary Lee: Uh, you are an epitome of this, this shift because you were a Vermont school teacher.
- 9:06Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 9:07Mary Lee: What, what was the impetus to lead you into this transition?
- 9:11Mary Lee: Discovery, human design, and then recognize I need to teach this to others.
- 9:17Lori Lisai: Yeah, I loved teaching.
- 9:21Lori Lisai: I loved the work that I was doing.
- 9:23Lori Lisai: I loved working with students, and my colleagues were amazing.
- 9:27Lori Lisai: So it wasn't at all about being bored or unhappy or, you know, anything like that.
- 9:35Lori Lisai: It was just this pull of feeling like there was something else that I needed to do.
- 9:43Lori Lisai: And I discovered human design when I was still teaching.
- 9:48Lori Lisai: I had been taking a manifestation course actually, and was really interested in that and just starting to get curious about thinking bigger, thinking beyond, you know, the, the world that I was living in and.
- 10:04Lori Lisai: That course led me to human design and it was such a, it was a, a wake up.
- 10:11Lori Lisai: I, I felt my whole body lean in and get excited and like, what is this?
- 10:18Lori Lisai: And I wanna know all the things.
- 10:20Lori Lisai: And.
- 10:21Lori Lisai: So I've been studying it since about 2019.
- 10:25Lori Lisai: The summer of 2019 was when I started to get super curious about it and then took a a certification course and have, have just been in, we call it an experiment essentially, because the idea of pulling all of these systems together is that, okay, you get your human design body graph, it's called, it's the map.
- 10:50Lori Lisai: It's the thing that you look at and you take the information that you're learning and you play with it in your life and you experiment.
- 10:59Lori Lisai: So one of the things that I knew about my reaction to human design was that as a generator type, which is an energy type, being pulled to that, being drawn to that and excited by it meant that I.
- 11:13Lori Lisai: This is something I should follow.
- 11:16Lori Lisai: This is a, a poll.
- 11:18Lori Lisai: I should, I should continue going down this road.
- 11:21Lori Lisai: So ultimately there were a number of things that happened at school.
- 11:26Lori Lisai: It was post Covid 2021.
- 11:29Lori Lisai: Uh, and I had this sort of, this moment in a meeting where I knew my body was so clear in telling me I wasn't coming back because the, we were having a conversation about the following year and our principal decided to, to go back to kind of status quo after COID.
- 11:54Lori Lisai: And for me, I had spent a lot of time working to change the system and when she made that decision, I just remember feeling in my gut like it dropped and I said, wow.
- 12:07Lori Lisai: I don't, I am not coming back next year.
- 12:11Lori Lisai: This is crazy.
- 12:12Lori Lisai: And it took me a few months to come to, to be completely and, uh, well completely might even be a stretch.
- 12:21Lori Lisai: I, it was scary, you know, leaving a job that I had been doing for 26 years was terrifying.
- 12:28Lori Lisai: Right.
- 12:29Lori Lisai: And I, but I did it.
- 12:31Lori Lisai: I, I felt the fear did it anyway.
- 12:33Lori Lisai: And, uh, I love the work that I'm doing now and working with women using this tool, especially during this phase of life, to help them do the same thing if, you know, if that's what they feel called to do or to leave any situation that has been a challenge for them or that just doesn't feel like it fits anymore and or to shift the situation in some way so it does feel like it's a better fit.
- 13:03Lori Lisai: So that's, that's my little about my story.
- 13:07Mary Lee: Oh, thank you for sharing your story.
- 13:09Mary Lee: I think that would resonate, will resonate with so many listeners who are at this pivotal point in their careers, long careers, or even if you're not, um, in the workforce, just at that pivotal point where things have, like you said, shifted and we start to sense in our own body sometimes for the very first time of getting to know who we are, recognizing a shift.
- 13:35Mary Lee: And what does that tell us?
- 13:36Mary Lee: And this is where the chakra system comes in.
- 13:39Mary Lee: The subtle body, the energetic body.
- 13:41Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 13:42Mary Lee: most, most of our lives, we go throughout life, oblivious blind to the fact that we have this other language in our body, the energy,
- 13:51Lori Lisai: Mm.
- 13:51Mary Lee: and it's constantly sending messages.
- 13:53Mary Lee: And I really appreciate the fact that you said this feeling in my gut
- 13:59Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 13:59Mary Lee: our gut.
- 14:00Mary Lee: I, I'm gonna take a pause because the Canadian Forest of snowbirds are flying over house right now and making all kinds of noise.
- 14:08Mary Lee: This is their training ground.
- 14:10Mary Lee: Every year.
- 14:10Mary Lee: They come out here for a few weeks
- 14:12Lori Lisai: Um,
- 14:13Mary Lee: So everybody loves it.
- 14:15Mary Lee: After a long career in the Canadian Air Force, this way aviation, I'm like, oh, here they go again.
- 14:24Mary Lee: don't you know I'm doing a podcast.
- 14:26Lori Lisai: Right,
- 14:27Mary Lee: this portion in here because this is what makes our podcasting so authentic and real.
- 14:31Mary Lee: People
- 14:32Lori Lisai: right.
- 14:32Lori Lisai: I love it.
- 14:33Mary Lee: these
- 14:33Lori Lisai: love it.
- 14:34Mary Lee: conversations.
- 14:35Mary Lee: But back to what I was saying about this feeling in our gut.
- 14:38Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 14:39Mary Lee: I love that you said that because our gut is always talking to us.
- 14:43Mary Lee: that gut brain connection.
- 14:45Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 14:46Mary Lee: and the work that I'm doing is more about teaching women how to fuel it properly, how to use exercise and nutrition as well as stress management to really start to tap into our true self.
- 14:59Mary Lee: But this really, Lori, is the first time that it's been framed so brilliantly through the human design concept that we have a whole other part of who we are.
- 15:11Mary Lee: The energetic body, the part that always was and will, always will be and will continue long after our vessel disintegrated, but our energy continues.
- 15:23Mary Lee: But bringing it back to, while that energy is still with us and our present day bodies.
- 15:28Mary Lee: I'm curious by now to know what are the different types of in the human design and how does one go about figuring out their human design?
- 15:38Lori Lisai: Yeah, great question and I would love to, uh, to talk a little bit about your chart as well as we're moving through these.
- 15:48Lori Lisai: One of the things that.
- 15:51Lori Lisai: We were just talking about the gut connection is super strong for two of the energy types.
- 16:00Lori Lisai: So in human design, similar to astrology for example, where in astrology somebody might ask you your, what's your sign?
- 16:11Lori Lisai: And they mean, what's your sun sign?
- 16:13Lori Lisai: So you were born May 28th, so, Gemini, right?
- 16:18Mary Lee: that's right.
- 16:19Mary Lee: Mm-hmm.
- 16:19Lori Lisai: Gemini.
- 16:20Lori Lisai: so you're a Gemini Sun With human design though, it's the same thing where you plug in your birth information.
- 16:28Lori Lisai: So it's based on that time.
- 16:31Lori Lisai: And where you were born, you want to be as accurate as possible.
- 16:36Lori Lisai: So you plug in your birth information and it generates your human design chart for me.
- 16:42Lori Lisai: I have a chart generator on my website, so you can go to lori lisa.com and go to get your chart and it, you'll generate it for free.
- 16:52Lori Lisai: And then you'll get the chart itself, which looks like a bunch of shapes and some numbers and some lines that are connecting them.
- 17:04Lori Lisai: And you get a sense if you overlay the chart on a human, it looks like there's, you know, you can kind of see the chakra system within it and.
- 17:17Lori Lisai: Those shapes are all called energy centers.
- 17:20Lori Lisai: And then there are energy types.
- 17:23Lori Lisai: So similar to that idea of the sun sign, there are energy types in human design, there are five of them.
- 17:30Lori Lisai: And energy type is like the role that you came here to play.
- 17:35Lori Lisai: It's like how your energy interacts with other people.
- 17:42Lori Lisai: So, yeah.
- 17:44Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 17:46Lori Lisai: So the.
- 17:47Mary Lee: Okay.
- 17:48Lori Lisai: so the five different types are, the first one that I like to start with are Manifestors, and they are about 9% of the population, so pretty rare type.
- 18:02Lori Lisai: And they are here to be our leaders, our initiators, they, they're kind of our fire starters.
- 18:13Lori Lisai: And what can be challenging about being a manifester is that most of the time people don't know what you're talking about because you are, you've gotten this idea or this creative urge that you want to go hard on, and you're literally blazing a new trail so people don't understand because we haven't heard of it yet, or it's something I.
- 18:41Mary Lee: like the Einsteins of the world?
- 18:43Lori Lisai: Like, oh, that is a great question.
- 18:46Lori Lisai: I don't actually know what energy type Einstein was.
- 18:49Lori Lisai: I'm gonna have to look that up.
- 18:51Lori Lisai: that's a great question.
- 18:53Lori Lisai: it's a similar idea though of Yeah.
- 18:56Lori Lisai: People who are coming and, and saying things, you know, that you're, you're just like, what?
- 19:03Lori Lisai: Okay.
- 19:04Lori Lisai: Uh, and I think learning that you are a manifester can be so.
- 19:11Lori Lisai: Helpful to you because you've lived this life where people don't understand you or don't get you, or, or they're struggling to, connect with you.
- 19:23Lori Lisai: And understanding that this is just the way that your energy works can be such a blessing to you.
- 19:31Lori Lisai: And, and it can help you to give you permission to continue doing what you're doing and just understand that's the way that your energy works.
- 19:40Lori Lisai: You know, you came here intending for that design to be the way it is in order to do what you wanted to do in this, version of your human suit.
- 19:51Lori Lisai: and a manifester.
- 19:53Lori Lisai: Each of the energy, energy types has an aura, uh, type.
- 19:58Lori Lisai: And the manifester is.
- 20:01Lori Lisai: This veil, it's, it's sort of difficult to see behind the veil until they feel like an invitation into that energy is, is needed or warranted.
- 20:17Lori Lisai: So.
- 20:17Mary Lee: Okay.
- 20:18Lori Lisai: Those are manifesters, our trailblazers.
- 20:22Lori Lisai: Then we have projectors, which are about 20% of our population, and projectors are here to guide.
- 20:33Lori Lisai: They are the people who can look at a situation and see with such clarity what needs to be addressed or fixed on a, usually on a like systems level.
- 20:48Lori Lisai: But they, are beautiful humans.
- 20:52Lori Lisai: Their energy type is, or sorry, their aura is piercing, and essentially that piercing aura lets them see into other people really deeply.
- 21:07Lori Lisai: So super cool kind of, energy type.
- 21:11Lori Lisai: Then we have generators.
- 21:13Lori Lisai: And generators are the most common energy type.
- 21:16Lori Lisai: They are about 37% of the population.
- 21:21Lori Lisai: And what makes a generator a generator is that their sacral is defined.
- 21:28Lori Lisai: And this is coming back to the talk about your gut feeling.
- 21:33Lori Lisai: So generators.
- 21:34Lori Lisai: And then the next type that I'll talk about are those are the ones that are gonna have the strongest relationship with a gut feeling.
- 21:43Lori Lisai: Manifestors and projectors don't have a defined sacral, so their experience of that gut feeling is going to be very inconsistent compared to a generator or a manifesting generator.
- 22:01Lori Lisai: So generators.
- 22:03Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 22:03Lori Lisai: So sometimes you can be in conversation with somebody and be talking about that gut and that gut connection.
- 22:12Lori Lisai: And I mean, trauma definitely plays into it.
- 22:16Lori Lisai: I think how well we can connect with our gut feeling, but also energy type.
- 22:22Lori Lisai: You know, if you are a projector or a manifestor or a reflector, then that connection to your gut and that feeling, it's not gonna be as strong as a generator or a manifesting generator.
- 22:36Lori Lisai: So, yeah.
- 22:38Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 22:38Mary Lee: spinoff questions, but keep going.
- 22:40Mary Lee: Keep going.
- 22:41Lori Lisai: Okay.
- 22:42Lori Lisai: Uh, so generators are here are as our builders, essentially as our creatives.
- 22:49Lori Lisai: They are here.
- 22:50Lori Lisai: The, if you look out at anything that exists in the world, a generator is behind it because you need to have somebody to create the thing.
- 23:02Lori Lisai: And if we're tracking each of the energy types and how they all kind of fit together, like this puzzle, it's the manifestors are where the ideas come from.
- 23:13Lori Lisai: It's how we get going.
- 23:15Lori Lisai: The projectors are here to guide the energy of generators and manifesting generators who are the creatives.
- 23:24Lori Lisai: So we all kind of work together, ideally, ideally.
- 23:31Mary Lee: Fabulous stuff.
- 23:33Lori Lisai: The generator aura is magnetic and enveloping.
- 23:38Lori Lisai: So you think of a generator aura as like a warm, juicy hug.
- 23:44Lori Lisai: it's very lovely energy.
- 23:46Lori Lisai: People love to be around it.
- 23:48Lori Lisai: so Mary, both you and I are generators, and what's interesting about this is people do love that energy and they're drawn to it.
- 23:59Lori Lisai: And the most important thing we can learn to say is no.
- 24:04Lori Lisai: Uh, basically like I am not available to give you my energy right now.
- 24:09Lori Lisai: I need to, yeah.
- 24:11Mary Lee: yeah.
- 24:13Mary Lee: I'm getting shivers down my arms.
- 24:14Mary Lee: Ooh,
- 24:15Lori Lisai: Hmm.
- 24:16Lori Lisai: I love that.
- 24:17Lori Lisai: I love that.
- 24:17Lori Lisai: And actually, your response to that was such a sacral response.
- 24:23Lori Lisai: You know, there's so much I could talk about, with this.
- 24:26Lori Lisai: But let's talk about manifesting generators who are 33% of the population, and this is the only hybrid type.
- 24:35Lori Lisai: They are a little bit manifester and a little bit generator.
- 24:39Lori Lisai: And how that plays out really depends on their chart.
- 24:43Lori Lisai: Some manifesting generators are more manifester, some are more generator, and some are what we think of as pure manifesting generators.
- 24:52Lori Lisai: So either way it means that they can do a bit of initiating and they also are here to have that sacral response form.
- 25:05Lori Lisai: First and foremost, they are a generator type.
- 25:08Lori Lisai: But, the difference between a generator and a manifesting generator is that generators are here to build momentum.
- 25:16Lori Lisai: They're just moving along at, you know, at a pace.
- 25:20Lori Lisai: Just do, do keep going.
- 25:21Lori Lisai: I think of the tortoise and the hare when I think about manifesting generators and generators.
- 25:27Lori Lisai: And then the mangen is here to be efficient and to spot efficiencies and tends to move a lot more quickly.
- 25:38Lori Lisai: So they're darting all around, trying different things circling back around.
- 25:44Lori Lisai: So they may end up at the finish line around the same time, but the manifesting generator has tried a bunch of different things, whereas the generator is more likely to be on one track working forward.
- 25:58Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 26:00Lori Lisai: And then the, and the last type are reflectors.
- 26:03Lori Lisai: Reflectors are just 1% of the population.
- 26:07Lori Lisai: So reflectors are super rare.
- 26:10Lori Lisai: And what defines a reflector is if you look at your body graph, every single center is not colored in.
- 26:21Lori Lisai: And essentially what that means is that they are our cosmic mirrors.
- 26:27Lori Lisai: So if we think about the purpose of all of the different types, manifestors here to initiate.
- 26:35Lori Lisai: Projectors are here to guide generators and manifesting generators here to create and build efficiencies.
- 26:42Lori Lisai: Reflectors are here as our cosmic mirrors.
- 26:46Lori Lisai: They're here to.
- 26:48Lori Lisai: Show us the kind of the wellness of usually an organization or, what whatever, some kind of group.
- 26:58Lori Lisai: And that's because they are consistently, their aura is called sampling.
- 27:05Lori Lisai: So they are taking on and borrowing bits of energy from the people around them and trying it on for size and gen, reflectors are here to be deeply connected with the moon cycle, the lunar cycle, uh, in order to come to clarity.
- 27:27Lori Lisai: so those are the five energy types and yeah.
- 27:31Lori Lisai: You said you had a bunch of questions,
- 27:34Mary Lee: Oh my goodness.
- 27:34Lori Lisai: which you got
- 27:38Mary Lee: Well, it's, I'm excited, first of all to find out that I'm a generator
- 27:42Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 27:43Mary Lee: and I hope that the listeners, I know that the listeners are gonna be really excited going, okay, I gotta go to Lori's website and figure out what type I am as well.
- 27:51Mary Lee: But with, okay.
- 27:54Mary Lee: Step back first.
- 27:56Mary Lee: How does the time,'cause you said you plug in the time where you were born and the date.
- 28:03Mary Lee: Um, a natal chart, how does that influence?
- 28:07Mary Lee: the time and place where in the planet you were born, how does that influence,
- 28:12Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 28:12Mary Lee: 'cause essentially it's saying we choose to come to this earth at a particular time, so we answer it right at that window of opportunity that determines whether we're gonna be any one of these five
- 28:24Lori Lisai: Yeah,
- 28:25Mary Lee: types.
- 28:26Mary Lee: So
- 28:26Lori Lisai: you,
- 28:27Mary Lee: that come into play?
- 28:29Lori Lisai: you got it.
- 28:30Lori Lisai: And I know one of the questions I get is, well, if I was born by cesarean does that change what my, what my design would have been?
- 28:38Lori Lisai: And the answer to that is no.
- 28:41Lori Lisai: However you were born is exactly what you wanted, however it happened.
- 28:49Lori Lisai: Uh, so the timing piece is, this is where the science comes in.
- 28:56Lori Lisai: And what's interesting is the gentleman who downloaded human design as a system.
- 29:05Lori Lisai: When he was sharing the information, he talked about neutrinos, which are the tiniest, tiniest bits of energy of matter that are floating through the air, through the ether at any time that have information on them.
- 29:28Lori Lisai: And they are, they're constantly passing through our human bodies and the things that look, solid around us.
- 29:37Lori Lisai: they're constantly in the ether, essentially.
- 29:40Lori Lisai: And when you decided to.
- 29:44Lori Lisai: Come in to be birthed.
- 29:46Lori Lisai: There, there was the neutrino stream that was coming through at that time.
- 29:53Lori Lisai: And so it, it, the idea is that it, it makes this imprint on you.
- 29:59Lori Lisai: So you have two sides to your human design chart.
- 30:02Lori Lisai: When you look at, the chart on the right hand side is what's called personality or your conscious side.
- 30:11Lori Lisai: And then on the left hand side you'll see design or your unconscious side.
- 30:16Lori Lisai: And the personality side is that moment of birth.
- 30:21Lori Lisai: And then the design side is 88 days before your birth.
- 30:27Lori Lisai: So you had two different imprints that happened, one coming in at the time of your birth and then one coming into you in utero.
- 30:37Lori Lisai: And what's fascinating is.
- 30:40Lori Lisai: Raw, which is the man's name who channeled the system talks, was talking about neutrinos.
- 30:48Lori Lisai: And then it wasn't until years later that scientists actually even proved that neutrinos were a thing that they existed.
- 30:57Lori Lisai: Uh, and there's still lots of research about neutrinos and how, you know, and I guess this is where you really have to believe that we are all one in some way, shape, or form.
- 31:10Lori Lisai: And that there are these pieces, that connect us all.
- 31:14Lori Lisai: So that's why the exact time is important and because the planets are shifting all the time and.
- 31:27Lori Lisai: Essentially that means that the way that their energies are affecting us here on Earth is shifting.
- 31:33Lori Lisai: And so having that exact time helps us to see, okay, where were they during that time?
- 31:40Lori Lisai: And how then did they impact you coming earth's, you know, coming here?
- 31:46Mary Lee: Oh, wow.
- 31:48Mary Lee: Everything you say, you just spin off.
- 31:50Mary Lee: Another bazillion questions comes into my mind, but let's make it, let's simplify it.
- 31:58Mary Lee: Lori, we
- 31:59Lori Lisai: Okay.
- 31:59Mary Lee: before we hit record about showing a live example, a
- 32:03Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 32:04Mary Lee: of a chart.
- 32:08Mary Lee: should we do it?
- 32:09Lori Lisai: Yes.
- 32:09Lori Lisai: Let's do it.
- 32:10Mary Lee: to all the listeners to figure out just who the heck this Mary person is
- 32:14Lori Lisai: Yes.
- 32:16Mary Lee: at our human design.
- 32:17Lori Lisai: Yes.
- 32:18Mary Lee: Beautiful.
- 32:19Lori Lisai: is.
- 32:20Lori Lisai: I love this because now I, I'm able to share with you what, the specifics are.
- 32:27Lori Lisai: So when I talked about the personality side, I'm talking about this da the blocks or the numbers that are all down this side.
- 32:36Lori Lisai: And, and so this is, the design that you chose coming in on your conscious side, and then this is your design side or your unconscious side.
- 32:48Lori Lisai: Each of these shapes, roughly correlate to the chakra system.
- 32:52Lori Lisai: Although in the chakra system, traditionally there are seven chakras, right?
- 32:57Lori Lisai: And in human design there are nine energy centers.
- 33:02Lori Lisai: So the heart, splits into the, this is called the G center or the identity center.
- 33:10Lori Lisai: and if you're listening, the G or the identity is the diamond in the middle of the chart.
- 33:16Lori Lisai: And then the ego or heart center is the little triangle that kind of pops off of it.
- 33:23Lori Lisai: And then, the sacral splits into the spleen center, which is the triangle on the left facing inward toward the center of the chart toward the bottom.
- 33:35Lori Lisai: And then the emotional solar plexus.
- 33:37Lori Lisai: you are a generator type.
- 33:39Lori Lisai: And what makes you a generator?
- 33:43Lori Lisai: The mechanics of a generator are that you have this sacral center, it's called defined.
- 33:50Lori Lisai: Defined means that it's colored in.
- 33:53Lori Lisai: So you see how Mary, if you're listening to this episode, as opposed to watching it, Mary has her head, her Ajna, her throat, and her identity, or G Center, which are the top four shapes.
- 34:08Lori Lisai: Those are all undefined and or she actually has a completely open head.
- 34:13Lori Lisai: But these are all undefined and that just means that they're white or depending on the chart that you're looking at, they're not colored in.
- 34:22Lori Lisai: And then.
- 34:24Lori Lisai: and then she has all of the rest of the centers defined.
- 34:28Lori Lisai: So you have a defined heart, a defined solar plexus, sacral, spleen, and root.
- 34:35Lori Lisai: And what makes you that generator is that you are a sacral.
- 34:40Lori Lisai: You have that center defined, but it's not connected to the throat center if your sacral was somehow connected to the throat.
- 34:50Lori Lisai: Through these lines here, these sort of, that look like tubes or circuits.
- 34:56Lori Lisai: these are called channels.
- 34:58Lori Lisai: And if you had something connected to the throat with your defined sacral, then that's what makes you a manifesting generator.
- 35:05Mary Lee: Okay.
- 35:07Lori Lisai: I didn't mention this earlier, but the.
- 35:09Lori Lisai: But to come back to this, I think this is an important point about the energy types.
- 35:14Lori Lisai: Manifesting generators are 33% of the population and generators are that 37%.
- 35:21Lori Lisai: So together generator types make up 70% of the population.
- 35:27Lori Lisai: And essentially what that means is we live in a generator driven world,
- 35:33Mary Lee: Oh.
- 35:35Lori Lisai: this is where it can be really helpful for people who don't have this sacral defined, who we call non sacral, like manifestors projectors or reflectors.
- 35:49Lori Lisai: When they learn that they don't have this sacral energy, it's usually a huge aha moment.
- 35:56Lori Lisai: Like, wow, okay.
- 35:59Lori Lisai: I am not lazy, I am not, just.
- 36:03Lori Lisai: I'm not exhausted all the time because something's wrong with me.
- 36:07Lori Lisai: It's because I've been trying to live like a generator type my entire life, and this is my permission slip to stop doing that.
- 36:17Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 36:19Mary Lee: Oh wow.
- 36:20Mary Lee: This is incredible.
- 36:22Mary Lee: I'm reading all the information, the details on
- 36:25Lori Lisai: Over here.
- 36:27Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 36:28Mary Lee: so.
- 36:29Lori Lisai: go ahead.
- 36:30Mary Lee: what really strikes me the most on is the strategy, how you take action and interact with the world.
- 36:38Mary Lee: I wait to respond.
- 36:42Mary Lee: That, let me tell you, when you are working in a corporate workplace and you are a generator, this is just like the light bulb is going off here and you take, you're sitting around those board meetings and you're taking in all this information.
- 36:55Mary Lee: Of course, my line of work was communications.
- 36:57Mary Lee: Not surprising.
- 36:58Mary Lee: I'm a Gemini
- 37:00Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 37:00Mary Lee: we do.
- 37:01Mary Lee: But when you wait and you take it all in and you strategize that gap of not speaking, not responding or jumping in to feel, the gap of silence is often misinterpreted as she doesn't get it or she's an airhead and then that plays on your.
- 37:26Mary Lee: Mental wellbeing.
- 37:28Mary Lee: go through the automatic negative thought process.
- 37:31Mary Lee: hell's the matter with me.
- 37:32Mary Lee: I'm not fitting in.
- 37:34Mary Lee: But we can't render a decision because we have to let it in the gut, so to speak, and have that right feeling of when it's right act.
- 37:46Mary Lee: With that in mind.
- 37:47Mary Lee: Yeah.
- 37:48Lori Lisai: Oh my gosh.
- 37:48Mary Lee: mind, then, I would imagine now, Lori, the work that you're doing is then helping women at this pivotal time in their lives to take in this information be completely okay with who they have to be energetically in order to honor their human design.
- 38:09Mary Lee: Am I right?
- 38:10Lori Lisai: 100%
- 38:12Mary Lee: Yeah.
- 38:13Lori Lisai: actually can, I would love to reflect for you how your human design illustrates all of the things that you just talked about.
- 38:24Lori Lisai: So you talked about waiting to respond, and that is tapping into that gut feeling.
- 38:31Lori Lisai: The idea for generator types is that you, you wait to respond.
- 38:39Lori Lisai: And what you're waiting for is that gut feeling.
- 38:43Lori Lisai: You're waiting for your gut to remember how I was saying earlier that I knew when I had the gut drop that I was leaving
- 38:53Mary Lee: Mm-hmm.
- 38:54Lori Lisai: when I found human design, I had this like, oh, what?
- 38:58Lori Lisai: Like super excited.
- 39:00Lori Lisai: I felt pulled toward it.
- 39:01Lori Lisai: Right?
- 39:02Lori Lisai: So that's the response that you're waiting for is that gut check.
- 39:08Lori Lisai: Now what another thing you said was, I need the time to let it percolate, to let it sit.
- 39:16Lori Lisai: And you are an emotional authority.
- 39:20Lori Lisai: So your authority in human design is how you are designed to make decisions.
- 39:26Lori Lisai: And this is such, I'm so glad you said that, because a lot of times what happens, especially with some of the other markers in your chart, is.
- 39:35Lori Lisai: People could tend to jump right in.
- 39:37Lori Lisai: They could get that, sacral response and be super excited about something and just wanna go for it.
- 39:43Lori Lisai: But you are saying, I, I need that time to let it percolate.
- 39:48Lori Lisai: And 50% of the population has this solar plexus authority, which essentially, when you boil it all down, just means you need to wait.
- 40:01Lori Lisai: You need to take your time, sleep on it at least once, at least one night if you can, depending on the size of the situation.
- 40:09Lori Lisai: You know, if you're an emotional authority, you're not gonna wait a night to figure out what to eat for dinner, but.
- 40:15Lori Lisai: If it's, if it's a decision with some weight, you wanna take time.
- 40:19Lori Lisai: And the reason is because you're waiting for more information to come into your purview, to come into your world, to give you kind of these breadcrumbs to lead you to a, to clarity, to a strong decision.
- 40:38Lori Lisai: And emotional authorities are driven by an emotional wave, which means that you need to give yourself time to feel through the whole wave.
- 40:50Lori Lisai: Instead of making, especially sacrals, they're like, oh my God, that sounds so great.
- 40:56Lori Lisai: That's so exciting.
- 40:57Lori Lisai: And we wanna jump right in based on that excitement.
- 41:01Lori Lisai: And then we don't let it sit.
- 41:03Lori Lisai: And then the next day we're like, oh my God, why did I commit to that?
- 41:07Lori Lisai: Or why?
- 41:08Lori Lisai: Right?
- 41:09Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 41:10Mary Lee: why did I spend$10,000 on a bloody digital course I don't need?
- 41:16Lori Lisai: Yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 41:19Lori Lisai: So with the emotional solar plexus, you talked about letting it percolate.
- 41:24Lori Lisai: That is beautiful.
- 41:25Lori Lisai: And exactly what I would want to hear from you.
- 41:29Lori Lisai: However, because most people don't understand that half the population has this authority.
- 41:36Lori Lisai: They, our tendency, especially being 70% generators in the world, is like, well, if you're smart, that means you can make decisions right on your feet.
- 41:47Lori Lisai: And it means you can know exactly what you want right in the moment.
- 41:51Lori Lisai: Very masculine kind of energy.
- 41:54Lori Lisai: And for you, you have a completely open head.
- 41:58Lori Lisai: The head center is all about inspiration and ideas, and then you have an undefined ajna, which is our filter.
- 42:08Lori Lisai: It's where we take those ideas and form opinions about them.
- 42:13Lori Lisai: And so when you, when it's open or undefined, it means that it's inconsistent.
- 42:20Lori Lisai: You have room, you can see both sides of something you take in and amplify other people's ideas and inspirations.
- 42:30Lori Lisai: So the challenge of having the these centers either open or undefined, is that you can get into that.
- 42:39Lori Lisai: Well, I don't know enough or I don't know the answer, therefore, I.
- 42:44Lori Lisai: I must be stupid or whatever.
- 42:47Lori Lisai: So you were reflecting that as well, right?
- 42:50Lori Lisai: Is
- 42:50Mary Lee: Yeah.
- 42:51Lori Lisai: this feeling of oh, how do I sit and wait and feel grounded in that?
- 42:56Lori Lisai: And this is where I love human design so much because it gives you the language and you can look at your chart and say, wow, okay, there's nothing wrong with me.
- 43:06Lori Lisai: I am actually doing exactly what I came here to do.
- 43:11Lori Lisai: And I can start to, we call it decondition, right?
- 43:15Lori Lisai: Pull off those layers of expectation of feeling like we should be something else, or we should be following somebody else's plan and just be who we came here to be.
- 43:31Mary Lee: Hmm.
- 43:32Mary Lee: Wow.
- 43:33Mary Lee: I would also say on the flip side is that for me, knowing this generator type now and that it's the gut feeling.
- 43:41Mary Lee: Taking my time to really strategize and think things over is my nature.
- 43:47Mary Lee: However, the moment I'm in a situation where I recognize something isn't right, I have a tendency to dive right away and call it out for what it is it's like I've been punched in the gut and my whole body is saying, I call bs.
- 44:05Mary Lee: This isn't right.
- 44:06Mary Lee: Or I see the injustice in the world and I'm just,
- 44:11Lori Lisai: Wow.
- 44:11Mary Lee: I have to honor that.
- 44:13Mary Lee: But at other times I think, oh, I should have reigned it in a little bit.
- 44:15Mary Lee: I could be a little bit, a little bit feisty, a little bit of a disruptor.
- 44:19Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 44:20Lori Lisai: That's a beautiful thing.
- 44:23Mary Lee: and that's very much part of that generator type.
- 44:27Lori Lisai: Not necessarily generator.
- 44:28Lori Lisai: So a couple of things I would say about that one, uh, you have a defined spleen, which the spleen is about, its intuition.
- 44:38Lori Lisai: our center for intuition.
- 44:39Lori Lisai: So you're attuned to when something feels off, there's Yeah.
- 44:46Lori Lisai: There's also the, in the spleen, it's also this safety mechanism.
- 44:52Lori Lisai: It's the oldest energy center.
- 44:54Lori Lisai: It's the one that we, yeah, it's the one that we share with animals.
- 45:00Lori Lisai: And so it's that energy of I'm unsafe.
- 45:05Lori Lisai: I am, I'm running away before I even realize what's happening kind of thing.
- 45:10Lori Lisai: those are the two things that I would say that are connected there.
- 45:13Lori Lisai: There are some other things, but for beginners, I think it's good not to get too, too into the weeds and, okay.
- 45:21Lori Lisai: I'll say one more thing, which is your personality, line.
- 45:25Lori Lisai: So there's something called profile, which is your personality.
- 45:30Lori Lisai: It's similar to the role that you play.
- 45:32Lori Lisai: You're a two four, and that two line is a natural at things.
- 45:40Lori Lisai: Oftentimes things come easily to you.
- 45:44Lori Lisai: It can be a situation where somebody might look at you and say, how on earth did you do this?
- 45:51Lori Lisai: Or, how did you even know to do this?
- 45:54Lori Lisai: And to you, it just feels like blinking or breathing, to you, you're like, what?
- 45:59Lori Lisai: Everybody doesn't do that or know how to do that.
- 46:03Lori Lisai: so I feel like there's a flavor of that coming in potentially as well.
- 46:08Mary Lee: All right.
- 46:08Mary Lee: We could spend a lot of time just talking about MyChart, but I definitely wanna bring this back to something that's relevant and relatable for all the listeners in menopause.
- 46:17Mary Lee: There are things that you offer to your clients
- 46:21Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 46:21Mary Lee: tell us about all your courses.
- 46:23Mary Lee: Because my interest has been peaked.
- 46:25Mary Lee: I'm sure the listeners' interests have been peaked, whether they're watching it the chart, and just getting a general sense of, um, knowing that 37% of us, well, 70, all combined are the generators.
- 46:37Mary Lee: I'm sure that this has just tweaked so much curiosity.
- 46:40Mary Lee: So tell everybody how they can work more one-on-one with you.
- 46:43Lori Lisai: Yeah, for sure.
- 46:44Lori Lisai: So I do one-on-one coaching, uh, just.
- 46:49Lori Lisai: Essentially what that looks like is coming to me with something that's going on, usually related to perimenopause, midlife transitions, that type of thing.
- 47:00Lori Lisai: And then working together, using your chart to bring you more clarity, to get you unstuck, to start to help you shift into feeling like you're living who you wanna be and you're being who you want to be.
- 47:18Mary Lee: Mm.
- 47:19Lori Lisai: and I used the word permission earlier.
- 47:22Lori Lisai: I think that human design gives you the permission that oftentimes you don't even know you're looking for.
- 47:30Lori Lisai: So that is a longer.
- 47:34Lori Lisai: Almost like a one long reading, where we spend the time over, usually three to six months working together.
- 47:41Lori Lisai: So I have that and I also offer readings.
- 47:45Lori Lisai: Just, you know, let's sit down and look at your chart and we can break it apart.
- 47:50Lori Lisai: We can, again, because I'm a generator, I tend to ask people, what do you, what exactly do you wanna look at?
- 47:57Lori Lisai: what's going on in your life?
- 47:58Lori Lisai: That we could pull some threads in human design.
- 48:01Lori Lisai: So you feel like, okay, I am learning about myself and I'm also helping, helping to get myself out of a bind in some way.
- 48:09Lori Lisai: Usually people are seeking this knowledge because they're looking to better some part of their life in some way.
- 48:17Mary Lee: Mm-hmm.
- 48:17Lori Lisai: offer, readings And then I have a group program called Midlife Magic that will be launching relatively soon.
- 48:28Lori Lisai: and you can get on the wait list there, on my website for that.
- 48:31Lori Lisai: And then I have a free perimenopause survival guide that is, yeah, it's based on your energy type.
- 48:41Lori Lisai: So
- 48:42Mary Lee: Oh.
- 48:42Lori Lisai: run your chart and it's customized to you and your energy.
- 48:47Lori Lisai: And you can learn about not only your energy type, but also as it, how it relates to perimenopause and your experience in perimenopause.
- 48:57Lori Lisai: And what can you do to better take care of yourself based on your energy type.
- 49:03Mary Lee: Oh wow.
- 49:05Mary Lee: There's just so much.
- 49:06Lori Lisai: I know.
- 49:08Mary Lee: I'm a true believer.
- 49:10Mary Lee: I dunno if this is a generator type, but I am a true believer that the universe always has your back.
- 49:16Lori Lisai: Mm,
- 49:16Mary Lee: attention to those little bread crumbs, really lean into that.
- 49:20Mary Lee: Um, and that's the trust your gut part.
- 49:23Lori Lisai: it is.
- 49:24Mary Lee: the universe is sending you signs all the time.
- 49:27Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 49:28Mary Lee: it's reading your mind.
- 49:28Mary Lee: It's like, oh, and that's what happened.
- 49:31Mary Lee: I swear with me.
- 49:32Mary Lee: It's like, Hmm, you need to meet Lori.
- 49:34Mary Lee: Okay.
- 49:36Mary Lee: Here's Laurie, and she's just told me what my design is, which someone and, my listeners, know this by now'cause I talk about a lot, but someone who's had PTSD from occupational stress injury, and then you add on a concuss brain, a head injury,
- 49:53Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 49:54Mary Lee: and then menopause.
- 49:54Mary Lee: So if you've had any underlying neurodivergent traits and, and park that thought,'cause I wanna get back to that neurodivergency.
- 50:01Mary Lee: So you add those three things and the neuro neurodivergent traits tend to come back tenfold.
- 50:08Mary Lee: Once the estrogen leaves the body, it's like, hey, surprise, guess what?
- 50:11Mary Lee: We're here again.
- 50:12Mary Lee: So for those three things,
- 50:15Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 50:15Mary Lee: and then you're going through life and trying to figure out why, why do I do what I do?
- 50:20Mary Lee: Is it because of the injury?
- 50:22Mary Lee: Is it because of the PTSD?
- 50:24Mary Lee: And it's really easy for us to go into that negative thought pattern really easy because the brain's job is to protect the body.
- 50:32Mary Lee: The brain's job is to say, I've been assigned to help you survive in this world.
- 50:39Mary Lee: And so you have hyper vigilance, beyond control and trust, issues beyond control, and a tendency to yourself and internalize everything that's going on.
- 50:49Mary Lee: This Lori, to me, has been literally my permission slip to be human
- 50:57Lori Lisai: Mm
- 50:58Mary Lee: terms,
- 50:59Lori Lisai: mm.
- 50:59Mary Lee: by my design.
- 51:00Mary Lee: Oh, that should be the title of the podcast.
- 51:03Lori Lisai: Love it.
- 51:03Mary Lee: Slip to Be Human.
- 51:05Mary Lee: By your design.
- 51:07Mary Lee: Okay.
- 51:08Mary Lee: And we're onto something.
- 51:08Mary Lee: But see what I mean?
- 51:09Mary Lee: Like this is, this has been so enlightening and it's, it's coincides so nicely with where I am in my transition having come out the other end saying, I don't wanna fricking do corporate anymore.
- 51:21Mary Lee: I wanna help women because this was my pain point and now my mess is my message, and
- 51:28Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 51:28Mary Lee: them through their transformation to get the same results that I am getting, is exactly what you're doing, of course, too.
- 51:35Mary Lee: But I really believe that the universe just comes along, right?
- 51:38Mary Lee: Right.
- 51:39Mary Lee: When you need a little something just to remind you, Hey, remember that design, remember your blueprint, it's all in there.
- 51:46Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 51:47Mary Lee: just start trusting your gut.
- 51:49Mary Lee: Trust your gut.
- 51:49Mary Lee: I say that a lot.
- 51:50Mary Lee: Trust your gut.
- 51:52Mary Lee: A wise woman when she enters menopause and then steps out on the other side is I.
- 51:57Mary Lee: Able to lean into that intuition, which is the gut, which is the third eye of course.
- 52:02Mary Lee: and I really find her her true purpose.
- 52:05Mary Lee: You are a blessing Laurie, but
- 52:07Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 52:08Mary Lee: go back to that part about neuro divergency
- 52:11Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 52:12Mary Lee: you were describing all five of the energy types, but the manifesters that they, have trouble with communicating their ideas, their bright ideas, because they're nonsensical to a lot of people and that they have this aura type was, you said the veil.
- 52:32Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 52:32Mary Lee: It's kind of covered their aura type, so it was hard for their energy to I'm wondering if individuals with a neurodivergent trait are.
- 52:45Mary Lee: to be a little bit more manifesters.
- 52:47Mary Lee: Now, not to say that if you were born at the certain time and place and point that you're gonna have a neurodivergent trait, but I'm just wondering if that neurodivergency is a prominent feature so that they can be manifesters.
- 52:59Mary Lee: Does that make any sense?
- 53:02Lori Lisai: It does, and I'm not sure that I would equate or that I would make a, a deep connection at the energy level.
- 53:11Lori Lisai: I.
- 53:11Lori Lisai: for human design types.
- 53:13Lori Lisai: However, like I said, it's a, a bunch of different systems, right, that are connected.
- 53:19Lori Lisai: And I would, I like to look at the gates, which are, when you're looking at the chart, it's the numbers.
- 53:28Lori Lisai: Those are all the numbers.
- 53:29Lori Lisai: Those are called gates.
- 53:32Lori Lisai: And, there's one in particular that I look at, which is gate nine.
- 53:38Lori Lisai: And, actually I'm just gonna share my screen again so we can look at your chart because it's a great example.
- 53:44Lori Lisai: so.
- 53:45Lori Lisai: Gate nine is down here in the sacral and it's reaches toward the root center.
- 53:54Lori Lisai: The root has Gate 52, which when those two are both defined, you'll have the 9 52 channel, which is the channel of concentration, and Gate nine is the side of, or the half of the channel That's really about focus on details and under understanding most importantly, what details to focus on.
- 54:23Lori Lisai: so
- 54:24Mary Lee: I'm a detail oriented person.
- 54:26Lori Lisai: yeah, and, and the thing about a DHD is, it's not necessarily that people who.
- 54:35Lori Lisai: Have a DHD as an example, have problem focusing.
- 54:40Lori Lisai: It's that they can be hyper-focused on something, right?
- 54:44Lori Lisai: And that can be the challenge.
- 54:47Lori Lisai: there's a little bit of both, right?
- 54:49Lori Lisai: There is like distractibility, but also that hyper focus.
- 54:53Lori Lisai: And the trick is understanding yourself well enough to know what are the environments I can put myself in?
- 55:00Lori Lisai: what are the conditions it works best in?
- 55:03Lori Lisai: so when you have gate nine and you don't have Gate 52, you don't have the full channel, it's gonna be a little bit more challenging for you, in regards to the focus piece, because you don't have that flow of energy, you have the half.
- 55:19Lori Lisai: And so what I would say here is a hack for, for your listeners and for you yourself.
- 55:26Lori Lisai: If you find that you're having trouble focusing, get out of the house and go work in a coffee shop or a library or someplace where you can be around other people, because what happens is if you look at your chart and you see all of these little numbers that are like halfway, they're half of a channel.
- 55:46Lori Lisai: So for you, for example, you've got nine, you don't have the 52.
- 55:50Lori Lisai: that nine, think of it like a little energy tendril that's out.
- 55:55Lori Lisai: It's electromagnetic.
- 55:57Lori Lisai: So it's looking for the 52.
- 55:59Lori Lisai: The 52,
- 56:00Mary Lee: interesting.
- 56:01Lori Lisai: yeah.
- 56:03Lori Lisai: So the 52 is the gate of stillness.
- 56:06Lori Lisai: It's the gate that brings you that ability to sit still and just be, and allow that focus to come in.
- 56:15Lori Lisai: Interesting.
- 56:16Lori Lisai: I have the Gate 52.
- 56:18Lori Lisai: So together, when we're together and talking, we complete this channel together.
- 56:24Lori Lisai: And if you go to a coffee shop and you're around somebody, prob if there are a bunch of people around, you're bound to be around somebody who has that gate 52.
- 56:36Lori Lisai: So you can lock in and you might find that it's easier to focus.
- 56:40Lori Lisai: you still can put your headphones in or whatever you need to help you really dial in your environment.
- 56:48Lori Lisai: if you get distracted by sounds or whatever.
- 56:50Lori Lisai: But you're sort of borrowing that energy for that time period to help you focus.
- 56:57Mary Lee: Oh my goodness.
- 56:58Mary Lee: Is this.
- 56:59Mary Lee: What they mean by our energy, like vibration, like attracts like, So would this be like we are receptors for that opposing, or I shouldn't say posing that complimentary energy to complete the channel?
- 57:11Mary Lee: Is
- 57:12Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 57:12Mary Lee: when they say you're drawn to the energy of others
- 57:16Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 57:17Lori Lisai: This is, yeah.
- 57:18Lori Lisai: This is how the energetics work.
- 57:20Lori Lisai: Yeah, exactly.
- 57:21Lori Lisai: It's sort of that idea of you complete me, you know, in in an energetic way.
- 57:28Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 57:28Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 57:29Mary Lee: is fascinating.
- 57:31Mary Lee: I just learned something incredible right now that is so interesting.
- 57:35Mary Lee: And I'm looking at this thing.
- 57:36Mary Lee: There's a lot of empty channels or open channels and then there's
- 57:41Lori Lisai: So.
- 57:41Mary Lee: of half open channels
- 57:44Lori Lisai: So when you have a gate, it's called a hanging gate.
- 57:48Lori Lisai: When it's half of a channel, you think of it as like this tendril that's hanging, waiting to connect with the other half of it.
- 57:57Mary Lee: Oh, interesting.
- 57:58Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 58:00Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 58:00Mary Lee: go around life saying, oh, you're nothing but a hanging gate,
- 58:07Lori Lisai: Right.
- 58:08Mary Lee: oh, this is so cool.
- 58:10Mary Lee: So, we can actually do things then in our lives.
- 58:13Mary Lee: we're not stuck with this.
- 58:15Mary Lee: This isn't permanent.
- 58:16Mary Lee: We can actually do, exercises or take on activity that helps that channel complete,
- 58:24Lori Lisai: right.
- 58:24Lori Lisai: yeah.
- 58:25Mary Lee: Wow!
- 58:25Lori Lisai: You're, you came in with your design on purpose, so I don't want your listeners to think you're looking to fix yourself in any way because this was the design that you came here to live out.
- 58:40Lori Lisai: It's more like.
- 58:41Lori Lisai: Some hacks or some tricks when you're trying to accomplish something or you're trying to have a better understanding of something.
- 58:50Lori Lisai: Yes, you can borrow people's energy for a little while, and just noticing that, oh, okay, I feel unfocused today.
- 58:59Lori Lisai: I'm gonna go work in the coffee shop and see if that makes a difference.
- 59:02Lori Lisai: You know, you're doing that favor for yourself and then you can go back home and, be totally unfocused or be feeling all over the place.
- 59:12Lori Lisai: And then who knows, maybe you get, five different areas of your house clean because one thing leads to another, to another, to an, you know, like random things come together and you allow your, what feels like it's out of focus to just lead you to where you're meant to be when it's not structured and you don't need to accomplish a specific thing,
- 59:35Mary Lee: And on the, on the flip side.
- 59:38Mary Lee: We have our design that we chose and came to this world with.
- 59:41Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 59:42Mary Lee: to the point about a neurodivergent trait or any condition that we've been exposed to within our lifetime,
- 59:47Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 59:48Mary Lee: a condition, a medical situation, an injury and illness that doesn't necessarily define the energy type.
- 59:57Mary Lee: It just kinda can shape it.
- 59:59Mary Lee: No matter what energy type we are, whatever other conditions or layers we have with ourselves can shape how we act out.
- 1:00:10Mary Lee: But then when we go back to our design, we can learn again, okay, this is my design.
- 1:00:14Mary Lee: No matter what has happened to me, I can still use the design to find my truth.
- 1:00:19Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 1:00:20Lori Lisai: Absolutely.
- 1:00:21Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:00:23Mary Lee: I'm glad you found me.
- 1:00:24Lori Lisai: Yes, me too.
- 1:00:26Mary Lee: help me work on something here and I feel so energized and full of great ideas and my brain is just, yeah.
- 1:00:35Lori Lisai: Yay.
- 1:00:36Lori Lisai: Oh, I love it.
- 1:00:37Lori Lisai: I'm so excited.
- 1:00:38Lori Lisai: That's so great.
- 1:00:39Lori Lisai: I,
- 1:00:40Mary Lee: excited.
- 1:00:40Lori Lisai: yeah.
- 1:00:41Lori Lisai: Anytime I'm able to introduce somebody to human design is a win because it's made such a difference for me in helping me navigate perimenopause and really giving myself permission to do the things that I wanna do and to understand how I work.
- 1:01:00Lori Lisai: You know, it's like a manual for yourself.
- 1:01:03Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:04Mary Lee: you've said it perfectly and in the context of lifestyle protocols for managing the midlife transition, we can follow the key protocols of lifestyle.
- 1:01:15Mary Lee: So our nutrition and exercise, the more that we can, help our body physically, we are helping it energetically so that we have the ability to open up those channels and create more of a mind body connection.
- 1:01:30Mary Lee: That's a whole other discussion.
- 1:01:31Mary Lee: But back to simple lifestyle protocols for managing menopause.
- 1:01:35Mary Lee: Exercise, what we eat, how we manage stress, and sleep management.
- 1:01:41Mary Lee: Things we can do to improve our sleep because sleep is the pan as far as I'm concerned for everything.
- 1:01:46Mary Lee: then the sense of community.
- 1:01:48Mary Lee: But now you got those five, this is like the sixth protocol, which is yourself that permission can shape and change the body and change what you eat and management.
- 1:02:02Mary Lee: But now you have this this.
- 1:02:07Mary Lee: This chart, like you
- 1:02:09Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:10Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:10Mary Lee: heading that tells you everything that you are doing falls within this design, and here is your permission to have the personality that you have with it within the context of all the other systems that we have.
- 1:02:28Mary Lee: We find ourselves in this, in this dense, earthly planet.
- 1:02:33Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:33Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:34Lori Lisai: And I, I love that you named off all of the different, uh, kind of.
- 1:02:40Lori Lisai: Protocols and ways to approach perimenopause and menopause and human design has something to say about all of those.
- 1:02:49Lori Lisai: Actually it even like you can, for example, an exercise routine for a non sacral being versus a sacral being.
- 1:02:58Lori Lisai: I would approach those two things differently.
- 1:03:01Lori Lisai: a projector will probably be completely exhausted.
- 1:03:06Lori Lisai: With a five day, lifting weights routine or a lot of cardio throughout perimenopause and menopause versus a generator type that might be supportive for them.
- 1:03:18Lori Lisai: Another thing that might come into play would be their root.
- 1:03:21Lori Lisai: if you have a defined route or an undefined route, there's a big difference between how those two function.
- 1:03:27Lori Lisai: Human design also talks about our digestion and how we take in not only food, but information.
- 1:03:33Lori Lisai: So for example, your digestion is nervous touch, and essentially what that means is that it's best for you to kind of be in this like buzzing, moving around.
- 1:03:46Lori Lisai: I don't know if you eat on the go, but that is, that is supportive for you if you are able to eat on the go or to eat while you're doing something else, or to just have some action and moving around.
- 1:04:00Lori Lisai: Yes, yes.
- 1:04:02Mary Lee: I'm sitting at the dinner table, my leg is fidgeting, dinking, ding, dink, ding, dink, ding,
- 1:04:05Lori Lisai: There you go.
- 1:04:06Lori Lisai: Yes.
- 1:04:06Mary Lee: still.
- 1:04:07Lori Lisai: Right.
- 1:04:08Lori Lisai: And, and this is a great example of these, these gurus who come out with this blanket statement of, when you're eating, you really should sit in quiet and pay attention to every bite that you take and et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:04:22Lori Lisai: And yes, for some people, for example, if you are calm, touch, yes, that is perfect.
- 1:04:30Lori Lisai: Sit in quiet, try to have your environment be as calm as possible.
- 1:04:34Lori Lisai: But that's not going to be, I.
- 1:04:36Lori Lisai: Productive or helpful for the digestion of somebody who has nervous touch, who has, high sound or something like that.
- 1:04:44Lori Lisai: there are digestions that are, there's one called consecutive, for example, where it's best for you if you, let's use the Thanksgiving dinner plate as an example.
- 1:04:55Lori Lisai: Here.
- 1:04:55Lori Lisai: You sit down, you have a big plate of all the different things instead of mixing everything up.
- 1:05:01Lori Lisai: Consecutive appetite is best by eating the Turkey first and then moving to the sweet potatoes and eating all of those, et cetera, et cetera.
- 1:05:11Lori Lisai: And eating a fresh diet that is.
- 1:05:14Lori Lisai: Seasonal really is like a consecutive appetite.
- 1:05:18Lori Lisai: So anyway, those are some of the more fi like the finer details of human design.
- 1:05:23Lori Lisai: but all of them are reflected, which is just a another reason that I love to use human design to help us during perimenopause, because it touches on all of those things and it personalizes it, you know?
- 1:05:37Mary Lee: great.
- 1:05:37Mary Lee: Oh my
- 1:05:37Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 1:05:38Mary Lee: know, this is going to shift the way I coach and train women.
- 1:05:42Mary Lee: when I,'cause I'm, I help them with their strength training programs and I just help them with, as a menopause doula.
- 1:05:48Mary Lee: We just are there to hold space with them and give them these little, tricks and tips and knowledge about what they have at their disposal
- 1:05:56Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:05:57Mary Lee: agency of their menopause so that they can make choices about having to wait for an external factor, know, such as HRT.
- 1:06:04Mary Lee: Not
- 1:06:04Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:05Mary Lee: it, that is one piece of the puzzle, but they have so much at their disposal.
- 1:06:09Mary Lee: But now I am going to shift a little bit and say, okay, before we get started on our program, do your human design, your, free chart
- 1:06:19Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 1:06:20Mary Lee: website helps me understand, okay.
- 1:06:23Mary Lee: Now I know what you're, I mean, I can't read it, but I'll know a little bit more about, okay, this is why this person is very fidgety in my class, for example, and this person is.
- 1:06:34Mary Lee: Completely on the floor pile of sweat saying, I can't do this anymore.
- 1:06:39Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:40Mary Lee: I think that in truly to honor the role of a doula, we have to show up in compassionate listeners.
- 1:06:46Mary Lee: And as a coach, you have to show up where your client is at.
- 1:06:50Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:06:51Mary Lee: client in front of you, not the program.
- 1:06:55Lori Lisai: Right.
- 1:06:55Mary Lee: has to adjust.
- 1:06:56Mary Lee: And that little tidbit of information of knowing their human design me that aha, I get it.
- 1:07:03Mary Lee: Let's adjust, let's modify so that you can reap all the benefits and have success.
- 1:07:08Mary Lee: Because there are so many programs out there that are cookie cutter design.
- 1:07:14Mary Lee: You just do this, you'll get these results,
- 1:07:17Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:07:17Mary Lee: doesn't fit.
- 1:07:18Mary Lee: And I always often feel like I'm not fitting into that program.
- 1:07:21Mary Lee: I don't.
- 1:07:22Mary Lee: So I'm very apprehensive when I see all of these, buy this, buy that, and try this and try that because it is so cookie cutter.
- 1:07:29Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:07:30Mary Lee: me, not
- 1:07:31Lori Lisai: Right?
- 1:07:32Mary Lee: to the masses.
- 1:07:34Mary Lee: Coach me
- 1:07:35Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 1:07:36Mary Lee: wanna coach you.
- 1:07:37Mary Lee: And
- 1:07:37Lori Lisai: Yeah.
- 1:07:38Mary Lee: what you do with your clients.
- 1:07:39Mary Lee: Oh my goodness.
- 1:07:40Lori Lisai: Hmm.
- 1:07:41Mary Lee: So much synchronicity going on here.
- 1:07:42Mary Lee: I love this.
- 1:07:43Mary Lee: I love this, I love this.
- 1:07:44Mary Lee: Beautiful.
- 1:07:46Lori Lisai: Same.
- 1:07:47Lori Lisai: So good.
- 1:07:48Mary Lee: could talk for hours, honestly, for hours and hours, but I want to leave our listeners with one thing, that there's multiple different, well, five designs.
- 1:07:59Mary Lee: but what is one thing that a perimenopause menopausal woman can do just to find some grace?
- 1:08:08Mary Lee: Some respite, if you will, as she is going through this massive transition and trying to honor who she truly is,
- 1:08:15Lori Lisai: Yeah, I think a great place to start is with learning what your energy type is
- 1:08:21Mary Lee: right?
- 1:08:23Lori Lisai: If you know that information, then you understand not only how to honor the way that your energy works, and I usually split it between sacral beings, generators, and manifesting generators and non sacral beings, manifesters projectors and reflectors.
- 1:08:45Lori Lisai: So learning the difference between which camp you're in and how your energy affects other people, because.
- 1:08:55Lori Lisai: As much as we want to focus on ourselves in this phase of life, we're in relationship with other people consistently and constantly.
- 1:09:03Lori Lisai: And I think learning your energy type and also learning the energy type of your loved ones can help you to build so much empathy and understanding not only for yourself, but also for the people that you're, you know, consistently around.
- 1:09:22Lori Lisai: And as we know hormones and the havoc that they wreak on our emotions, how ragey we can get, I think knowing other people's human design can be really helpful for you to just say like, okay.
- 1:09:37Lori Lisai: for example, if I'm a projector mom and I have generator children, I.
- 1:09:43Lori Lisai: They're probably going to exhaust me.
- 1:09:47Lori Lisai: And just understanding that is a step in the right direction.
- 1:09:53Lori Lisai: And then being able to communicate that to your partner.
- 1:09:56Lori Lisai: Let's say your partner is a generator being, you can just say, look, I really need you to take, the kids or take the lead for this and I need to go take a projector nap.
- 1:10:06Lori Lisai: That's what I need to function.
- 1:10:09Lori Lisai: And there can be this understanding versus blame or selfishness or whatever.
- 1:10:14Lori Lisai: So I think that, I think energy type is a great place to start.
- 1:10:19Mary Lee: Wow.
- 1:10:20Mary Lee: What a shift in the school system it would be if we knew this information.
- 1:10:24Lori Lisai: No.
- 1:10:26Mary Lee: Oh my goodness.
- 1:10:27Mary Lee: But it goes back to the two things.
- 1:10:29Mary Lee: The old adage seek first to understand before being understood.
- 1:10:32Mary Lee: Understand the energy of others.
- 1:10:34Mary Lee: And I think the second thing is when we say, especially in a fitness class or a class of any type, it's like, honor your energy.
- 1:10:42Mary Lee: you need to rest in Shavasana or a child's post, honor that energy.
- 1:10:46Lori Lisai: Mm-hmm.
- 1:10:47Mary Lee: to take a break, if you need to.
- 1:10:48Mary Lee: I always say, if you need to take a hot second to take a break, take that break and then get right back in when you're ready.
- 1:10:55Mary Lee: 'cause it's oh, permission to be myself.
- 1:10:58Mary Lee: Yeah.
- 1:10:59Lori Lisai: Exactly.
- 1:11:00Mary Lee: Yeah.
- 1:11:00Lori Lisai: Yes, yes.
