- 0:08Everyone who's done videos on getting an avoidant X back,
- 0:12including myself, always says that no contact is the way to
- 0:16get them back right. And while that's true, don't
- 0:21worry, I'm not backtracking what I've said previously.
- 0:24There's actually something more important than no contact
- 0:28that'll bring them back no matter what their attachment
- 0:32style is. Yes, even if they're avoidant.
- 0:35What is it? Well, stay tuned and you'll find
- 0:38out. Hi, this is the Chia with the

- 1:13OK, so avoidance have a bad name and a bad reputation.
- 1:19They often get painted as impossible to win back because
- 1:23they downplay motions, minimize vulnerability, and protect their
- 1:29independence at all costs. So of course it's natural to
- 1:33think, well if this is their wiring then how the heck am I
- 1:36ever going to get them back? Well, here's the thing.
- 1:40Attachment styles are just defaults, not destinies.
- 1:47Think of your attachment style as an automatic setting, so it
- 1:50runs in the background most of the time.
- 1:53But like your phone automatic settings, it can be overridden
- 1:58manually. And what has the power to
- 2:02override avoidance? Interest level.
- 2:06Which if you've heard my other videos, you've heard me talk
- 2:09about before. And I first learned about
- 2:12interest level from my late friend Doc Love.
- 2:14He always said interest level Trump's everything and he was
- 2:20right because no matter what attachment style someone has, a
- 2:25high enough interest level can override the default settings.
- 2:31Attachment styles are a default, not a destiny.
- 2:36Attachment style explains how they manage closeness.
- 2:42But interest determines whether they stick around or in your
- 2:47case, whether they come back after a breakup.
- 2:50And why is that? 5 reasons #1 The reward
- 2:57outweighs the risk. So normally avoidance see
- 3:00closeness as a threat. But if their interest is high
- 3:03enough, the potential joy and connection is going to be more
- 3:08rewarding than the risk of vulnerability.
- 3:11It feel feels more valuable than the perceived threat to their
- 3:16autonomy #2 they're highly motivated.
- 3:22People stretch beyond their comfort zones when they really
- 3:25want something, right? I'm sure that's happened with
- 3:27you. So interest gives them the
- 3:29motivation to fight against their attachment defenses and
- 3:34reach out to you during no contact.
- 3:37Number 3, they're more willing to tolerate discomfort, so their
- 3:43instinct is going to be to stay awake.
- 3:46They'll feel the urge to createspace, but high interest
- 3:51makes them fight through the discomfort and reach out because
- 3:54the payoff is worth it #4 they're able to access their
- 4:00secure side. So everyone has a secure side.
- 4:03Yes, even you. And high interest is the key
- 4:07that unlocks it. Isn't that great to know?
- 4:10So suddenly they're more willing to communicate and show
- 4:13vulnerability than they normally would.
- 4:15And I can tell you, as a dismissive avoidant, this has
- 4:19definitely been my experience. When I'm very interested in
- 4:24someone, I'm less avoidant. Suddenly I'm secure.
- 4:29And then finally #5 for avoidance, the fear of regret
- 4:35outweighs the fear of rejection. OK, let me say that again.
- 4:40The fear of regret outweighs the fear of rejection.
- 4:45Yes, they're afraid you may reject them if they reach out
- 4:49after the breakup. But luckily for you, their fear
- 4:54of not having at least tried to get you back, we'll make them
- 4:58reach out. Isn't that great?
- 5:00And if you want to check out docs Doc Love's book, The
- 5:03System, there's a link underneath all my YouTube videos
- 5:07that will allow you to read 10 chapters for free.
- 5:11That's right, 10. So how can you know if your ex's
- 5:15interest in you is low or high? OK, so first the bad news.
- 5:22If the interest is low, they'll feel relief after the breakup.
- 5:27They'll quickly distract themselves with work, hobbies,
- 5:30or sometimes a rebound. They'll rationalize.
- 5:34Well, this is for the best. I wasn't happy anyway.
- 5:39And you'll rarely hear from them again because their avoidance
- 5:43style plus low interest gives them no reason to come back.
- 5:47So in this case, their attachment style explains why
- 5:52they don't see closeness. But it's the low interest that
- 5:56makes the breakup permanent. OK, it's not because they're
- 5:59avoidant. Now on to the good news.
- 6:03If their interest level was high, it overrides their
- 6:07avoidant defenses in the long run.
- 6:10So initially, they'll also feel relief.
- 6:14They'll finally have the space they wanted, or thought they
- 6:17wanted. But then the missing starts to
- 6:19build. They notice your absence.
- 6:23They think about the good times you had together, your secret
- 6:26love language, how you made each other laugh.
- 6:30And that's when they'll test the waters with, as I've said many
- 6:33times before, small breadcrumb messages.
- 6:36And eventually they can't resist circling back because their high
- 6:42interest overrides their avoidant defenses.
- 6:45And even a dismissive avoidant who usually avoids vulnerability
- 6:50will risk reaching out if their interest in you is strong
- 6:53enough. And This is why we hear stories
- 6:56of avoidance who seemed done for good, yet months later they're
- 7:01knocking on their ex's door. So don't believe it when you
- 7:05hear that you can't get an avoidance ex back.
- 7:09Now avoidance don't come back just because of no contact.
- 7:15No contact is powerful, but it isn't magic as much as some
- 7:19people wish it was. So it gives them the space they
- 7:22want and it allows their interest level to do the work of
- 7:26bringing them back. But you still need to remember
- 7:31the three foot rule which I talked about in my video last
- 7:36week, and I'll put the link in the upper right hand corner on
- 7:39YouTube. So you have to give them that
- 7:41emotional buffer even when they start to return.
- 7:45Don't start spilling your feelings all over the place.
- 7:50Keep in mind, and I know this is counterintuitive for many
- 7:53people, but their high interest in you is what will make them
- 7:59come back, not your high interest in them.
- 8:03OK, so that means that you are attuned to their rhythms and
- 8:09their possible triggers and when they inevitably pull back, and
- 8:15they will, do not chase, you stand secure 3 feet away
- 8:21emotionally. And your knowing that by being
- 8:24consistent and showing that you're not going to freak out or
- 8:29chase after them or punish them, they'll slowly close the
- 8:34emotional gap. But it has to be on their
- 8:38timeline, not yours. And if you truly love them, you
- 8:44won't try to rush them just to soothe your insecurity.
- 8:48Because when you truly love someone, you allow them to come
- 8:51to you in their own way when they're ready.
- 8:54Now there's two important caveats to keep in mind.
- 9:00No matter how high their interest is in you, if you don't
- 9:03do no contact correctly, they'll automatically pull back.
- 9:08You need to let time and space apart do its thing.
- 9:12And I did a video on that and I'll put the link in the upper
- 9:15right hand corner and to make sure you're doing no contact
- 9:20correctly. I also have a whole no contact
- 9:22playlist on YouTube so check that out.
- 9:26And then the second caveat is that if someone's attachment
- 9:30wounds are very deep or unhealed, even high interest may
- 9:35not overcome their defenses. So for example, an FA might self
- 9:40sabotage. Walk away and stay away from
- 9:43someone they love. I know as much as it sucks.
- 9:46Or ADA might compartmentalize their feelings and just move on.
- 9:51And I keep seeing comments underneath all the videos about
- 9:56avoidance saying that you should be running from avoidance.
- 10:00Why would anyone want an avoidance back?
- 10:02I'll tell you why. Because some people are worth
- 10:05it, OK? And when you meet someone who's
- 10:07worth it, you do anything you can to make it work.
- 10:10So stop trying to shame people for wanting their avoidance X
- 10:13back. So remember, no contact is
- 10:19powerful, yes, but interest level is more powerful.
- 10:23Attachment style is going to shape how they leave and return,
- 10:27but interest decides if they return at all.
- 10:31An avoidant with high interest will always find reasons to peek
- 10:35back into your life, no matter how much their defenses tell
- 10:39them not to. And if their interest level is
- 10:42high, no amount of avoidance will keep them away forever.
- 10:46For those of you who are afraid to do or to stay no in no
- 10:49contact. And if their interest is low,
- 10:55then no amount of no contact will bring them back for good.
- 10:59So now I want to hear from you. Do you think your ex's interest
- 11:03in you is high or low? Comment below.
- 11:06And I do offer one-on-one coaching because it's not just
- 11:09about getting them back, but keeping them back.
- 11:13Yes, interest level, Trump's attachment style.
- 11:18But if you don't handle it correctly, you'll push them
- 11:20right back into their default programming when you do hear
- 11:25from them. OK, so if you would like my
