Latest / True Crime with Gavin Fish / Inside the Mind of Nick Reiner | The Hollywood Homicide of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer
Transcript
- 0:01Well, today was a big Newsday in terms of coverage of the case of
- 0:09the murder of Rob Reiner and Michelle Singer Reiner.
- 0:14And we've got a lot to talk about, including lot to cover,
- 0:17including a press conference by the District Attorney's office
- 0:23and the LAPD, as well as some information regarding the night
- 0:30that or the night before the Reiners were discovered.
- 0:35And some some footage from a podcast back in 2016 as Rob
- 0:42Reiner and Nick Reimer were promoting their movie Being
- 0:45Charlie Lot going on in this case.
- 0:49And I think it's going to help us get into the mind of of Nick
- 0:54Reiner, though, I mean, that's, that's just for our, I guess,
- 1:01education. Nothing's going to bring back
- 1:05the television and movie icons that were the rhiners.
- 1:09Stick with me. This video contains mature
- 1:23themes and discussions intended only for adult audiences.
- 1:27Viewer discretion is advised. Hello there, my friend, and
- 1:32welcome back to another true crime conversation with me,
- 1:35Gavin Fish. Thank you very much for being
- 1:37here, wherever here is. Let me know in the comments
- 1:40where you're tuning in from. But on this channel, we like to
- 1:43cut through the fluff and sensationalism of true crime.
- 1:46We like to get down to the nitty gritty.
- 1:48If that's what you like, then I'm glad you're here.
- 1:50You found the right place. Now, in this case, we're in the
- 1:53state of California and that means that we're not going to
- 1:57get very much. And there is a lot of rumor,
- 2:00there is a lot of speculation. We try to, we try to stay clear
- 2:07of that stuff as much as we can, but we're not going to be able
- 2:09to on this one, not until we learn more from from the
- 2:16investigators. So yeah, we're going to I, I
- 2:23think that may be the best place to start here.
- 2:26Robin says she's in a state of disassociation right now.
- 2:32Who do we have here? We got Fredonia, PA.
- 2:34We got Arizona, North Carolina, British Columbia, Kansas City,
- 2:38MO disassociation, Washington state.
- 2:42So glad that you guys are tuning in and tell me more.
- 2:46Bay Area, Lake George, NY Yeah, tell me where you're from.
- 2:49I I, I just love that. I just love that for some
- 2:51reason. OK, let's just do a quick little
- 2:55recap. Rob Reiner and his wife,
- 2:57Michelle Singer Reimer, who met and I think we're married in
- 3:021989 or 1990. They've been married a long
- 3:04time. They have three children, all
- 3:06grown up adult kiddos. Rob Reiner is also the father of
- 3:091/4, a daughter who he adopted when he was married to Penny
- 3:13Marshall. Those four kids, I think, are in
- 3:18a state of real grief and mourning right now.
- 3:22I know that those of you who join me on this channel join me
- 3:26in in, I guess, expressing our condolences to to that family
- 3:33and to the several close friends and also to to the industry that
- 3:38they served and worked in for so long.
- 3:39It's just a terrible, terrible tragedy that probably could have
- 3:44been avoided, though it was a long, long time coming.
- 3:50So I think where I want to start tonight is there was a press
- 3:55conference that was held live a couple hours ago that I didn't,
- 4:02you know, let's see. Normie von Ormy says Jake, the
- 4:05other brother, worked at a local news station as a reporter, was
- 4:09a wonderful, hard working young man.
- 4:10Yeah. It's just so sad.
- 4:12Scotland's in the house. Houston, TX, Portland, ME,
- 4:15Fresno, CA, Utah, West Virginia, Erie, PA.
- 4:20Everybody's in the house tonight.
- 4:22So why don't we start with that with that DA presser?
- 4:28I think if I push my button, it's just going to start.
- 4:30No, it's not good. This is this took place just a
- 4:36couple hours ago in Los Angeles. It is about 13 minutes long, by
- 4:40the way. We're going to go a little long
- 4:42tonight because we've just got so much to go through.
- 4:44I try to keep things to an hour, but we're going to go a little
- 4:47long tonight. This 13 minute 22nd clip from
- 4:53the press conference is going to give us a little bit of
- 4:56information, a little bit, but not really the nitty gritty that
- 5:01we want. Of course, I've already said
- 5:03we're going to have to. We're going to have to wait for
- 5:05that. This is California, but here we
- 5:06go. My name is Nathan Hochman.
- 5:08I'm the District Attorney of Los Angeles County.
- 5:11Today I'm here to announce that our office will be filing
- 5:14charges against Nick Reiner, who was accused of killing his
- 5:18parents, actor director Rob Reiner and photographer producer
- 5:22Michelle Singer Reiner. These charges will be two counts
- 5:26of first degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple
- 5:31murders. He also fesses a special
- 5:34allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly
- 5:37weapon, that being a knife. So just real quick and I'm I'm
- 5:43just going to beg your apology. The indulgences for the
- 5:46interruptions is what I do on the channel, but we had heard a
- 5:51couple of different things. One, that their that their
- 5:54throats were cut. I hate to even think about that.
- 5:59And two, that they had been stabbed to death.
- 6:02Both of those things can be true by the way.
- 6:04But we now do have confirmation we've it it was a knife.
- 6:08These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison
- 6:13without the possibility parole or the death penalty.
- 6:17No decision at this point has been made with respect to the
- 6:20death penalty. California does have a death
- 6:23penalty, but it effectively does not because they have not put an
- 6:27inmate to death in 50 years. Something like that.
- 6:30We have requested and currently Nick Reiner is being held
- 6:34without bail. Now before I in announcing these
- 6:39charges, I also want to announce that they're just that they are
- 6:42charges. Charges are not evidence.
- 6:45Evidence is something that we we will be presenting in a court of
- 6:49law to meet the standard of. I'm going to make a correction.
- 6:52It hasn't been 50 years. It has been, it has been about
- 6:5619 years, almost 20 years since there was a execution in the
- 7:02state of California. Proof we meet in every criminal
- 7:04case, which is beyond a reasonable doubt to dwell, 12
- 7:08jurors who you'll unanimously have to find that we've met that
- 7:12standard to prove the charges we bring to court right now.
- 7:18With respect to the process, Nick, once the charges get filed
- 7:23this afternoon, Nick Reiner will be then brought to court.
- 7:27He is going through medical clearance, something that
- 7:30everybody who goes, who gets arrested and gets held in the
- 7:34Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department jail goes through.
- 7:37Once he is medically cleared, he will be brought to court to be
- 7:40arraigned on these charges. At that point he will enter a
- 7:43plea of guilty or not guilty. Now prosecuting these cases
- 7:49involving family members are some of the most challenging and
- 7:54most heart wrenching cases that this office faces because of the
- 7:58intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes involved.
- 8:02Rob Reiner was a brilliant actor and director, an iconic force in
- 8:08our entertainment industry. For decades, which is huge in
- 8:12his. Wife Michelle.
- 8:13Singer Reiner. Was the whole economy down
- 8:15there? Iconic photographer and producer
- 8:20their their loss is beyond tragic and we have we will
- 8:26commit ourselves to bringing their murderer to justice.
- 8:31I want to thank LAPD Chief McDonnell, who is here today
- 8:36along with Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton from the LAPD and LAPD
- 8:40Captain Scott Williams, and the entire robbery, robbery,
- 8:44homicide Division, who literally has been working around the
- 8:47clock to gather the evidence that have led to the charges
- 8:51we're going to be filing today. Also from my office, I have
- 8:56Assistant District Attorney Maria Ramirez.
- 8:59I have Director of Specialized Prosecutions John McKinney, I
- 9:04have our head deputy of Major Crimes Craig Hum, and I have the
- 9:08two prosecutors who will be leading the prosecution in this
- 9:11case, Assistant head Deputy of Major Crimes Habib Bailian and
- 9:16Deputy District Attorney for Major Crimes Jonathan Chung.
- 9:19They will bring their decades of experience to holding this
- 9:23murderer accountable for his actions.
- 9:27At this point. Again, you will hear in the
- 9:30media rumors. You will hear speculation.
- 9:34You will hear hearsay. What I'm asking everyone to do
- 9:37is to rely on trusted sources. If it doesn't come from the
- 9:41district attorney's office, from LAPD, from the coroner's office,
- 9:46or from the courtroom itself, and there is a good chance you
- 9:49are hearing misinformation. Yeah, there's a good chance,
- 9:53sure. But also sometimes it does turn
- 9:57out to be true and I, I recognize the importance, I
- 10:00guess to the fidelity of the courtroom and the court
- 10:04proceedings that there be that there be a good jury pool to, to
- 10:09select from. And I totally, totally get that.
- 10:12Also, I am way more, I'm way more concerned with transparency
- 10:19and way more concerned with getting the news out.
- 10:22I just, I just am so at the risk of there being information that
- 10:27turns out to be wrong. I hate the words misinformation
- 10:31and disinformation. There's just such a political
- 10:33attachment to it. But at the risk of getting
- 10:37incorrect information, I, I think it's perfectly natural
- 10:41and, and it's perfectly fine to use sources that as long as
- 10:47there are multiple sources and there's good journalistic
- 10:51efforts to confirm things or very good efforts to attribute
- 10:57things that have been said, but not to speak as if they are
- 11:01true, just sit just to speak as they, if they were said is fine.
- 11:06And, and so I'm, I just, I don't know, I kind of roll my eyes
- 11:11when I, when I hear somebody like this tell us, oh, don't do
- 11:15that. Like, no, you won't give us
- 11:18information. That's the thing.
- 11:19You won't give it to us. So we're going to go looking for
- 11:22it. Because at the appropriate time,
- 11:25the actual evidence involved in this case will be presented in
- 11:29a. Court of law?
- 11:30Likely not Likely not he he most likely will please.
- 11:34So the information likely won't ever come out.
- 11:37And that's why it's important for good journalism to take
- 11:40place. As for your patience until that
- 11:42is done, but again, please do not rely on rank speculation,
- 11:47rumor or hearsay to believe that you understand anything about
- 11:51what went on in this case. I'd now like to turn it over to
- 11:54Chief McDonald. Thank.
- 11:58You well, good afternoon and thank you all for being here
- 12:00today. And it's with deep sadness today
- 12:02address the tragic loss of Robert and Michelle Reiner.
- 12:06On December 14th, 2025, LAPD officers from our West Los
- 12:10Angeles division responded to a death investigation at the 200
- 12:15block of S Chadbourne Ave., which is in the Brentwood
- 12:18section of Los Angeles. OK, let me pause this real
- 12:22quick. Emmy Nikolov.
- 12:25No, there are four children. There are three children of Rob
- 12:29and and Michelle Reiner. And there is a fourth child, the
- 12:32oldest daughter of Rob Reiner, Rob Reiner and Penny Marshall.
- 12:37There are 4. On entering the residence, they
- 12:42discovered the bodies of Mr. and Missus Reiner.
- 12:45Detectives from our Robbery Homicide Division, Homicide
- 12:48Special Section immediately initiated A comprehensive
- 12:52investigation. The evidence gathered led to the
- 12:57arrest of their son, Nick Reiner, who was taken into
- 13:00custody later that night without incident, and the Exposition
- 13:03Park section of our city today, the Los Angeles County
- 13:07District's attorney's office has.
- 13:09We've actually got photos of his apprehension that were published
- 13:13to Instagram and then later taken down.
- 13:14But we've got those. We'll, we'll get to those in the
- 13:16headline section. Formally filed charges against
- 13:20Mr. Reiner for the murder of his parents.
- 13:23This case is heartbreaking and deeply personal, not only for
- 13:25the Reiner family and their loved ones, but for our entire
- 13:29city. We extend our deepest
- 13:31condolences to all of those who are affected by this tragedy.
- 13:34I want to take a moment to recognize and thank our criminal
- 13:37justice partners, the District Attorney's Office, led by DA
- 13:40Hochman, and everyone who worked tirelessly on this
- 13:43investigation. Their swift action,
- 13:45professionalism, and commitment to justice have been
- 13:48instrumental in bringing clarity and accountability to this case.
- 13:52The LAPD remains steadfast in our mission to protect life and
- 13:56uphold justice. We will continue to support the
- 13:59Reiner family, ensure that every step forward is taken with care,
- 14:03dignity and resolved. Thank you.
- 14:08Not the world's greatest orator. Questions.
- 14:12Yes, right here in the front. Could you talk about why you
- 14:17feel this case rises to special circumstances?
- 14:21So special circumstances is a situation where an one of the
- 14:25enumerated factors that lead to elevating in some ways a first
- 14:30degree murder case to a special circumstance, first degree
- 14:33murder case occurs. One of those special
- 14:36circumstances is called multiple murders.
- 14:39Here we have two, and it qualifies under the definition
- 14:43of multiple murders to allege the special circumstance in this
- 14:47particular case I saw over here. Yeah, but he was found with good
- 14:59solid police work, investigative tools used by robbery, homicide
- 15:03and gang and narcotic Division detectives with the US Marshall
- 15:07Service task Force involved as well.
- 15:09So we're we're thankful for the work that was done.
- 15:12I won't go into talking about what was found or anything that
- 15:15could potentially taint the investigation.
- 15:19Yeah. Given Nick's history of drug
- 15:22use, was there any indication that he was under the influence
- 15:24at the time of this? Crime.
- 15:26No, thank you. Again, that's another question I
- 15:28can't touch. I'm following.
- 15:29Up on that, is there any evidence of mental?
- 15:32Illness in his. Background, I'm sorry, please
- 15:35repeat the question. Is there any evidence of mental
- 15:37illness in his background beyond the addiction?
- 15:40The evidence, any evidence if there is any of mental illness
- 15:43for his background will be coming out in the hearings to
- 15:47that will occur. We anticipate again after the
- 15:50arraignment the process will go through the normal process a
- 15:54case like this goes through at the appropriate time.
- 15:57If there is evidence of mental illness, it will be presented in
- 16:01court and in whatever detail the defense seeks to do that.
- 16:07We we do have information on what the defense is, by the way,
- 16:12or on who the defense is. We'll get to that.
- 16:26We don't anticipate any significant delay more than is
- 16:29involved in a first degree murder case with special
- 16:32circumstances. These are some of the most
- 16:34serious charges that AD as office can bring against anyone
- 16:39and we anticipate that the discovery that we will produce
- 16:42to the defense will be robust. It will be very involved.
- 16:46They'll want adequate time to review it.
- 16:48They'll again, they'll want to go through every single factor
- 16:51that they can ascertain in the defense of Mr. Nick Reiner.
- 16:56So again, this will proceed along the tracks that many of
- 16:59the first degree murder cases proceed.
- 17:02Do I anticipate it being particularly fast?
- 17:04No, I I anticipate it being very thorough.
- 17:07You know, I appreciate that answer and let me tell you the
- 17:10reason I appreciate that answer 1.
- 17:14This is a guy who cares about the fidelity of the law, right?
- 17:18He's like, and it sounds like, hey, we're going to, we're going
- 17:21to do this by the book. The defense is going to get a
- 17:24very robust discovery file. We are going to give them
- 17:28everything that is required under the law, which is
- 17:30everything that's exculpatory. And the defense is going to want
- 17:34to go through that. And so will this take a long
- 17:37time. I imagine there won't be
- 17:39speediness to it, but it it'll be done thoroughly.
- 17:43And to me that's an indication that he cares about the process.
- 17:47He cares about the law, he cares about protecting the the
- 17:50defendant from, let's call it malicious or unfair prosecution,
- 17:57that the prosecution be fair, that the prosecution be thorough
- 18:01and and that the defense have an opportunity to create a good
- 18:06defense. And I know you guys are already
- 18:07talking about it in the in the live chat.
- 18:09Alan Jackson is the defense attorney here.
- 18:11We're going to get to that in a little bit.
- 18:14So he is hired a very good defense attorney.
- 18:19I mean, this guy represented Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey,
- 18:24Karen Reed, This guy is, he's a good attorney, maybe the most
- 18:30expensive attorney in the nation, maybe the top five,
- 18:33something like that. But I do appreciate DA's
- 18:37response to that. It's like, no, it, it won't be
- 18:39particularly speedy. The defense is going to want
- 18:42time and and but it will be thorough.
- 18:48Yes, right here cause of death and.
- 18:52Time of death asking about cause and time of death.
- 18:55Yes, right here do the members of the Reiner.
- 19:05Family help with new investigation LED to the US
- 19:07asking if the Reiner Reiner family gave any assistance that
- 19:10helped in the investigation. Of course he's not going to be
- 19:12able to answer that. Let.
- 19:13Me. Defer to the chief.
- 19:17On this hi, I'm Deputy Chief Allen Hamilton, Chief of
- 19:18Detectives. We don't have any specific
- 19:21information we're going to release at this time regarding
- 19:23the family's information they provided as we move forward that
- 19:28that. That means they did provide
- 19:29information reading between the lines there.
- 19:31Information will be discussed in the appropriate venue, which
- 19:35will be the court. Yes, in the front here.
- 19:37Can you talk anything? More about just not the the
- 19:51condition that Nicholson. Was arrested in the neighborhood
- 19:53like anything else, asking about the condition of the residence.
- 19:54Specifically, he was arrested in in a in a public area in the
- 19:57Exposition Park area near the University of Southern
- 19:59California campus. That was a rumor last night that
- 20:03he was near USC, and it turned out to be true.
- 20:07And he was arrested without incident.
- 20:08There were no indications that there was no indication that he
- 20:13was going to resist or anything like that.
- 20:14He didn't flee or anything like that.
- 20:16He was taken into custody without issue and and he was
- 20:20transported to our police headquarters facility.
- 20:25Take a question back there. Yes, he's been alleged.
- 20:30One of these special allegations is that the murder was committed
- 20:33with a deadly weapon or a knife. As to where and and how the.
- 20:40OK. So that that confirms the knife
- 20:42site. Well, we already talked about
- 20:43that. And will be was located or will
- 20:46be located that will actually be evidence we'll present in court
- 20:50we'll. Get 2 more questions.
- 20:53Let me take a question over here.
- 21:05I've I'll defer to the Chief on this one.
- 21:07We don't have, we don't have, I'm sorry, we don't have that
- 21:10kind of specificity yet. We're waiting the coroner to be
- 21:13able to try and determine as best they can at this point time
- 21:16of death. Let's we'll take the question
- 21:24back there. Asked who called 911.
- 21:35OK. So in terms of how the Los
- 21:36Angeles Police Department became aware, it was in a request from
- 21:39the Los Angeles Fire Department who responded to the scene
- 21:41first. We responded to their request
- 21:44for assistance at the the scene of the incident.
- 21:47Our initial Westerly officers that responded determined that a
- 21:51crime had occurred and they immediately notified our robbery
- 21:53homicide division. They've responded and they've
- 21:57taken over the investigation since that point.
- 21:59Thank you. Everybody, one more, one more
- 22:03question. I'll take it right here.
- 22:15So any statements made by the defendant at any.
- 22:18Point in time. Would be the type of evidence
- 22:20we, we, we will be presenting in court.
- 22:23Let me take one. I'll take one last question
- 22:25right here. Hold on one second.
- 22:28We I I just identified this gentleman.
- 22:31Sorry. We do not have the estimated
- 22:41time that it will take. We know that they're working on
- 22:43it expeditiously, but as to when they deliver it, we do not have
- 22:46that estimated time. I'll take that one last question
- 22:49back there. I was just wondering in.
- 22:59A domestic situation, asking how much they take into
- 23:01consideration what the family wants, Does it factor into what
- 23:08they charge? In these cases, like like any of
- 23:13these cases, we will take the the thoughts and desires of the
- 23:18family into consideration in making our decision.
- 23:22Thank you all very much. All right, so that that was the
- 23:28the press conference before we move on to the next bit of media
- 23:32that I want to show you guys. Let me see what you guys are
- 23:34talking about over on the live chat bringing on in here.
- 23:41Let's see. I can't tell to Lisa Luther.
- 23:47I guess Nick Reiner was a majorly troubled soul.
- 23:50I think that that is true and we're going to get into that a
- 23:52little bit for sure. Robin says.
- 23:55What I struggle with is that his son had to analyse one parent at
- 23:59a time, so the other parent had to have known what happened
- 24:02before they also weren't alive. Probably.
- 24:06Yeah, I, I think about those, unless there was like a blitz
- 24:10attack on one and a blitz attack on another and another part of
- 24:13the house, which we don't know, to my knowledge, we don't know
- 24:16if they were found together, if they were found apart.
- 24:19Have no idea. But I struggle with the same
- 24:24thing, right. The the horror of understanding
- 24:29what is happening and, and trying to process what's
- 24:32happening before you, you know, before your life is taken.
- 24:37Emily Hart says Alan Jackson is his attorney.
- 24:39Indeed. We're going to get into that a
- 24:41little bit to Lisa Luther. A little part of my childhood is
- 24:45gone now because of this. He was the director of The
- 24:47Princess Bride. Yeah.
- 24:48Rob Reiner was the, the, let's say, one of the creative drivers
- 24:54of so many parts of our society here in the United States,
- 25:00actually, and in the whole world.
- 25:01The Princess Bride might be the the first or second movie that
- 25:07was completely quotable for me. I can quote that movie from
- 25:12beginning to end. I I can tell you the entire
- 25:14script of that movie. And that was a Rob Reiner thing.
- 25:17And, and he pushed William Goldman to do it.
- 25:21And William Goldman didn't want to want to make the movie
- 25:25because he was so afraid that what he considered his
- 25:28masterwork was not going to come across well on the movie, right.
- 25:34And of course, I mean, it was perfectly done.
- 25:37Perfectly done. And by the way, if we can just
- 25:40do Gavin's book club for a second, that might be the best
- 25:43book I've ever read. The Princess Bride.
- 25:45It's written as if, as if it's being what?
- 25:52Condensed from an ancient work by a fictitious author named S
- 25:58Morgenstern. It is brilliantly written.
- 26:01So, so, so funny. So many things didn't make it
- 26:04into the movie. Of course, it was Goldman who
- 26:07wrote the screenplay, right? So he he adapted the screenplay
- 26:11from his, from his novel. But yeah, but beyond The
- 26:16Princess Bride, I mean, Stand by Me might be the first coming of
- 26:19age movie that I ever watched that that I loved, right?
- 26:25Think about think about When Harry Met Sally, right?
- 26:28That that is the ultimate that that is the best romance
- 26:32romantic comedy ever made, in my opinion, the very best.
- 26:38A few good men, right? I mean, a few good men I
- 26:42actually saw in the theater something like 5-4 or five
- 26:46times. It's just, it's just so perfect.
- 26:49So, yeah, I mean, that might be why it's touching us all.
- 26:53I mean, not only is this a horrific crime and we're
- 26:57grasping to understand what happened and why it happened,
- 27:01That's the main thing that we're grasping to understand why it
- 27:03happened. But also we're dealing we're
- 27:06struggling with the whole piece of this, just just how much the
- 27:14the work of mostly Rob Reiner, but also also Michelle ment us
- 27:23over the years, right? I mean, yeah, I talked about
- 27:27this last night, but when Harry Met Sally had a completely
- 27:30different, completely different ending until Rob Reiner met
- 27:35Michelle Singer and then he worked with Nora Ephron to
- 27:40completely change the ending because he was finally convinced
- 27:44that there could be a happy ending.
- 27:46So, yeah, it's this is this is a hard one for a lot of us.
- 27:55I think he's going on about that due to the rumor tags that tend
- 27:59to be bad. Yeah.
- 28:00OK In Hollywood. Sure.
- 28:03Yeah. That officer does sound a little
- 28:05bit like he's from the East Coast for sure.
- 28:09Emily says. Do you think Nick is using his
- 28:11trust fund? Supposedly.
- 28:12He's still. I'm sure, Yeah.
- 28:17Yeah. An an indigent person does not,
- 28:23does not hire Alan Jackson. It doesn't happen.
- 28:27Does not happen. Ohio Paul mom says the
- 28:30prosecutor isn't all about being neutral.
- 28:33He ran on a law and order platform and in the presser he
- 28:36says he's the killer before he's even charged.
- 28:39Yeah, but that is what is the word that I'm trying to say The
- 28:47that is the privilege of the charging personnel and the and
- 28:54the prosecuting personnel. They can say this person
- 28:57murdered that person. They don't have to say it is
- 29:01alleged, they say. And one of the reasons I think
- 29:04for that is they've got to be able to to confidently project
- 29:12exactly what they believe happened.
- 29:13And they enjoy high immunity, high official immunity.
- 29:20So, yeah, he's not about being neutral, but Ohio Palm Mom, I
- 29:24don't think that I if I did say neutral, I I'm sorry about that.
- 29:27What I what I mean is he cares about the fidelity of the law.
- 29:32There is a process here. We're going to follow the
- 29:34process. I'm going to play my part.
- 29:36We're going to do everything above board.
- 29:38We're going to give all the exculpatory discovery file over
- 29:41to the defense. The defense is going to want to
- 29:43spend some time on that. To me, it, he cares about the
- 29:47fidelity of the law and that is not neutrality.
- 29:50In fact, he shouldn't be neutral.
- 29:52He he is a prosecutor. What if someone overheard Nick
- 29:57and Rob's argument that didn't like him and saw an opportunity?
- 30:00I'm sure they have cameras all over their house, though.
- 30:03Yeah, I don't, I don't know that anybody is seriously thinking
- 30:10that that there was somebody else that was like, hey, I can
- 30:13pin this on Rob. I mean, I mean, that's possible.
- 30:16But yeah, I I I doubt that. Robin says.
- 30:22I saw in an interview where Sally Struthers said while Rob
- 30:28Reiner was playing meathead that he already had the rights to The
- 30:31Princess Bride and was always thinking forward.
- 30:34Yeah, I saw a cool little interview with him talking about
- 30:37Carroll O'Connor, which was pretty cool.
- 30:39Very cool. So anyway, that great comments,
- 30:43guys, great comments. Let me move over if we can to to
- 30:49this one here. I'm going to bring it up here
- 30:53would this comes from a podcast. This is about 21 minutes long.
- 30:58This is why I said we're going to go long tonight.
- 31:01This is from a podcast back in 2016 and I learned about this by
- 31:05reading, I think it was Rolling Stone today.
- 31:12The the entire podcast episode is about an hour long.
- 31:16Paul Mercurio is I didn't I, I don't know his act.
- 31:22He's he's a comedian and but I I'm not somebody who follows him
- 31:27or knows him, but he has he had this podcast called 2 chairs and
- 31:31a microphone. It's changed its name since, but
- 31:35he had Rob Reiner on kind of promoting being Charlie.
- 31:39Now Being Charlie is a movie that was written by Nick Reiner,
- 31:44was produced and directed by Rob Reiner, and it is semi
- 31:47autobiographical about the struggles that Nick Reimer
- 31:50Reiner. I always want to say Reimer.
- 31:52I'm so sorry, Nick Reiner. It's semi autobiographical about
- 31:59Nick Reiner's life as a teenager.
- 32:03And as they're talking about the movie, Paul goes, you know, what
- 32:07does your son think? I think I included this in here.
- 32:10So you're going to see it. I just want to set this up.
- 32:12And he said, well, there he is right there.
- 32:14He could tell you. And then Nick Reiner joined.
- 32:17OK, so the last 21 minutes or so of this is Rob Reiner and Nick
- 32:22Reiner talking to Paul Mercurio about about this movie and about
- 32:28their personal relationship. And I, and I honestly think it's
- 32:32pretty darn telling. So I wanted to I wanted to
- 32:35discuss this. Here we go.
- 32:37What do you think your son took away?
- 32:39You said you both learned what you were going through in a
- 32:42deeper way. Right here you can ask him.
- 32:44No, that's your son. That's Nick you.
- 32:46Know wow I guess I should have known that at the beginning come
- 32:48in here come in here man he. Wants to know what you took away
- 32:51here? I'm going to get you 1.
- 32:52Of these, yeah, yeah. Nice to meet you.
- 32:55I was really interested what you were saying about the baseball
- 32:57thing, how relatable it was. Yeah, it just, someone said
- 33:03having a child is like your heart is running around outside
- 33:07your body unprotected. And I couldn't put it any
- 33:10better. And, and I was thinking on the
- 33:12way here and I try to talk about this stuff in my ACT because
- 33:15this is the stuff that I think matters is like I am at times
- 33:20that parent that I would mock who lives through his kid.
- 33:23And I'm sure when you're going through your pain, your dad was
- 33:25going through, my son is in a baseball slump, which is nothing
- 33:28compared to what you guys went through.
- 33:30And I literally couldn't sleep a couple of nights.
- 33:33And so I totally understand. So I'm curious, what did you
- 33:36figure out what's going on with him during all of this as a
- 33:40result of the movie? But I think I'm lucky in the
- 33:42sense that I have parents that care about me.
- 33:46And because of that, when I would go out and do, you know,
- 33:50things like drugs and and stuff like that, I'd feel a tremendous
- 33:54amount of guilt because I'd think, oh, they're, you know,
- 33:57they're thinking about me right now.
- 33:58They want me to do good. And most people don't have, not
- 34:01most people, but some people don't have parents that are, you
- 34:04know, have any interest in them. Yeah.
- 34:07Isn't that interesting? Like now this again was almost
- 34:1010 years ago. So, you know, he's mess with my
- 34:16levels there a little bit. So, but he's recognizing at this
- 34:19moment, yeah, my parents love me.
- 34:21Everything that they did was because they loved me.
- 34:24And yeah, it was tough and everything, but at least I'm
- 34:27lucky enough that I have parents that love me.
- 34:29And that is an indication to me that when when it all went down,
- 34:36it it there had to be some sort of psychotic break, some kind of
- 34:40mental illness, some kind of mental mental disease.
- 34:43And again, this is 10 years later, right?
- 34:44So this happened 10 years ago. But yeah, it just seems to me
- 34:49that that a person who recognizes how much his parents
- 34:54love him wouldn't go about ending their lives without some
- 35:00kind of break. Talking with Nick.
- 35:02I, by the way, I'm not a psychiatrist, a psychologist, or
- 35:06a social worker. Anybody that has any bona fides
- 35:09here. It's just, it's just my opinion.
- 35:12Reiner and his father rob Reiner nick had a drug issue in his
- 35:15teens and beat it and wrote a movie about his dad directed it
- 35:19and see my. That moment where he's like,
- 35:23hey, he was he was addicted to drugs in his teens and he beat
- 35:27it and you can see Nick go. I think he was probably doing
- 35:32drugs right then. He.
- 35:33Just said something really got me, which is that deep down, he,
- 35:40he trusted that we loved him and that we were there for him.
- 35:45And that put a little bit of a brake on, on certain things.
- 35:50I mean, it's a, it's a, it's a desire to to, to survive, you
- 35:53know, and that put a little and, and I think that's where we made
- 35:57the mistake is that we didn't trust that he would, that he had
- 36:01that. If you supported him as opposed
- 36:03to you, you were punishing. That in yes, we were.
- 36:05We were definitely. Meaning like punishing around
- 36:08him, you can't use the car, you got to stay.
- 36:09Home all that, just the whole idea of throwing him into a a
- 36:13rehab place, you know, just saying OK and it is there's a
- 36:16punitive. But if you hadn't done that, how
- 36:19could you treat him on? You couldn't treat him on your
- 36:21own. No, not on our own, but we could
- 36:23have maybe just worked with him with a therapist and, you know,
- 36:27been a little bit more active in that way.
- 36:29I, I, I think we just overreacted, but I mean.
- 36:32Nick, did you love hearing that? What I love about this section
- 36:35of the interview, and by the way, like I don't want to wax
- 36:38political because this is an apolitical show.
- 36:42Rob Reiner was a political beast.
- 36:45He he really was he was his his point of view is very liberal
- 36:50and he was he was very outspoken about that.
- 36:54But one of the things that maybe informed that for him was that
- 36:59he did, he had deep feelings about things, right?
- 37:02And and that's something that I can respect.
- 37:04Again, I don't like to wax political on this stuff because
- 37:07I in in this world, we need poets and we need, we need movie
- 37:15makers and we need performers and we need singers and we need
- 37:19artists and we also need soldiers and we also need
- 37:24realists and we also need bankers and we, you know, all of
- 37:28the things that kind of bifurcate us as a society.
- 37:32I think we need all of us. So that that's all I'll say
- 37:36about that. But what, what I love about this
- 37:39part of the the of the interview is that Rob Reiner saying, you
- 37:42know, during all that time, we were trying to help, but we were
- 37:46not doing what we were. So he's learning over time,
- 37:50right? We were punishing him.
- 37:52We were trying to help him, but we were punishing him.
- 37:54And that breaks the trust. He can't come to us because he
- 37:58thinks he's going to be punished, right?
- 37:59It's, it's, it's just so sad how it ended.
- 38:03He said that because I knew he has that in and there's a part
- 38:06of him that wants to survive and he doesn't want to, you know,
- 38:09kill himself or. Anything why?
- 38:11Why were you so deep in the drugs?
- 38:14What what was what do you think? Maybe with distance you can
- 38:17answer this, maybe not. Was the sort of the the
- 38:20underlying issues for you that were driving you there?
- 38:24I don't think this is any different than most people going
- 38:27through their teenage years, but I think that I was very.
- 38:30I had no identity and I had no passions.
- 38:34And I think the reason I had no identity was because, you know,
- 38:39I have a famous dad and a famous grandpa and they are, they sort
- 38:44of in, you know, that fame sort of informs who you are.
- 38:46So I wanted to etch out my own identity with a more rebellious,
- 38:51angry, drug addicted sort of persona.
- 38:55Go go the opposite of. What, what's really interesting
- 38:57about that is like, no, most of us are not children of the
- 39:02world's most famous director and the world's most famous comedy
- 39:06legend, right? So he's on a level way above
- 39:09what I understand. However, I do understand that
- 39:12idea of being the child of a well known within our community,
- 39:17a well liked a, a highly revered father and just wanting to be
- 39:27yourself, just wanting to be yourself.
- 39:29Now in, in, in later years, you start to say to yourself, I
- 39:36don't want, you know, in your early years, you're like, I
- 39:38don't want to be in the shadow of my father, my mother,
- 39:40whomever it is that that you're in the shadow of.
- 39:43And I think, I think that's almost universal to some level
- 39:47or another. And as you grow older, you start
- 39:50to say to yourself, Oh my goodness, it's nice and shady
- 39:52there. It's nice and cool.
- 39:53I like it there. That's certainly what happened
- 39:56with me, but very interesting that maybe as that human
- 40:02response of being the child of of accomplished people is what
- 40:08drove him into the darkest part of his life up until this point.
- 40:13Of course, the darkest part was Saturday night.
- 40:16Your father and your grandfather are in terms of that, but did
- 40:19you also think you wanted to be through the haze of all of that,
- 40:21that you wanted to be an artist of some kind, whether it's a
- 40:24writer or director or producer, that you wanted to do something
- 40:27in this business? No, I had no idea.
- 40:30And that's what aided to the drug use was because I had
- 40:33nothing to fill my time. I had nothing, No, no, nothing
- 40:36to look forward to. Well, wait, you're a teenager in
- 40:38high school. You're living your Your parents,
- 40:41as famous as they are, seem like they're very normal people.
- 40:44Your dad, Coach. Well, we're all.
- 40:47Crazy. My mother.
- 40:47Yeah, we're right. But but my point is there are
- 40:49things to do in high school, right?
- 40:51Like whether if it's not sports, it's musically a chess club.
- 40:56I don't know you, just your interest didn't really lie
- 40:58anywhere at that point. Well, I was really into
- 41:00basketball, but I'm a white Jew, so I couldn't really that for a
- 41:05long time and it just seemed like I didn't want to go into
- 41:09that business. But now you know I'm going into
- 41:12it as a drug addict of a. It's kind of ironic that the
- 41:15that you know, that the thing that this came out of it and you
- 41:18ended up and, and do you, do you find that?
- 41:23I mean, obviously, I know for anybody with, with an addiction
- 41:26problem, it's day-to-day, but how do you, how do you deal with
- 41:32issues that we all have? And now that you don't have
- 41:36drugs to use, what, what is, what is, do you, is it you, can
- 41:39you talk to your dad and your mom more openly about things?
- 41:42Or do you see you know the help? Seek help other ways?
- 41:44When he was saying before, like how I was scared to get in
- 41:48trouble if I were to tell them the truth because they always
- 41:50say be honest, be honest, be honest.
- 41:52And that's the best policy. But it's kind of not the best
- 41:55policy when you're honest and you get in more trouble than you
- 41:57were if you were. Lying what my son said I'm going
- 42:00to send you this link that's I said to him because OK, it's the
- 42:04summer. OK, we go to I'm sorry, I'm
- 42:07getting excited, but we go to a place we go to a place up in we
- 42:11got a place up in Connecticut. So I'm walking down the street
- 42:13with my wife and he rounds the corner with like four or five of
- 42:16his friends and I can see the shadows and he's got a backpack
- 42:18and one of the kids has a backpack and I hear ditch it,
- 42:22ditch it and throw the backpack. So as they walk by, my son's
- 42:26like all cool, doesn't really want to talk to me, part of his
- 42:28friends. I go, I'll pick up that backpack
- 42:30for you and keep it at the house, right?
- 42:32So I pick up the backpack and it's filled with a bunch of Bud
- 42:34Light beers. And they had gone down by the
- 42:37railroad tracks, had a little fire and they, you know,
- 42:39whatever. And this is like the first time
- 42:41for us to confront that, right? So I then interrogated him like
- 42:45a lawyer and I got it out of him that, you know, he had paid for
- 42:48it. And, you know, it's a lot of
- 42:49like sort of obfuscate, you know, just sort of, I didn't do
- 42:51this, I did that, OK. And I asked him on the podcast,
- 42:54why do you lie? And he said, because when you do
- 42:57the calculation of the chances of getting caught versus telling
- 43:00the truth and the ramifications of getting punished for telling
- 43:04the truth, you take the odds of lying and getting caught for
- 43:08lying. And which I think is exactly
- 43:10what you. Just saying with the guilt of
- 43:11lying, you know, you're like, I'll take that rather than.
- 43:14Did you feel guilt? I don't.
- 43:15I don't know if somebody at that age feels guilty.
- 43:17Did you feel I. Did I did honestly feel guilty?
- 43:19I'm not just saying that for sympathy points, but I doubt you
- 43:21know, you feel bad when you a lot of your parents and it's
- 43:24it's designed for you to lie, I guess you could say.
- 43:26Yeah. And and I was fascinated by
- 43:29that. And, and, and when you when you
- 43:33did the drugs, I guess it's sort of just alleviated all of that.
- 43:35You were sort of took you away from all of that and just it was
- 43:38obviously self medicating and just you were able to relax or
- 43:41feel relaxed. And there was a level of self
- 43:43medication. There was also a level of doing
- 43:47something radical and doing something to get outside of
- 43:49myself and comfort self. Yeah, what is I had a friend
- 43:54who's in a a ultimately died, literally killed himself from
- 43:57drinking. And I remember visiting him and
- 43:59he was in denial. It was all these other people.
- 44:01He was literally was that line, like they got it.
- 44:03I did you get anything out of being in those different
- 44:07facilities? Did you?
- 44:08We were able to take anything away long term.
- 44:10That's helping you. You know what I really took
- 44:13away? And I, and I usually bash the
- 44:15programs a, but I'll say something positive, which is
- 44:18the, the, the feeling of, OK, there's other people out here
- 44:23that suffer from the same thing that I suffer from and they're
- 44:26willing to talk about it. And that's why I think we did
- 44:29this movie is because we feel it's important to be upfront
- 44:32about this sort of stuff. So how was it?
- 44:35I can imagine just me directing my son's work and then putting
- 44:38my butt in my nose in. And you're obviously a great
- 44:40writer. So did they wrote the
- 44:44screenplay? He was 22.
- 44:46Here you maybe tweeted in place 30. 2 now.
- 44:48With them, I mean, over the course of a year, you know,
- 44:50helped. Was it hard to not to give him
- 44:53his space, you know, and and and maybe, you know, want something
- 44:59to be changed, but leave it alone because he really felt
- 45:01strongly or how did that? How and how was it for you
- 45:03working with? Yeah, we hashed everything out.
- 45:05I mean, some things became fights, other things, you know,
- 45:08we we hashed it out. You.
- 45:09Told me something that was really fascinating.
- 45:11Yeah, I wish they sort of hashed out whatever happened at Conor
- 45:15O'Brien's party. I I think that he was in the
- 45:18deep. I think he was deep in a
- 45:21psychotic break. I really do.
- 45:23Everything clicked after that. He was like, there's one person
- 45:26on the set that has to make the the final decision whether it's
- 45:29right or wrong, it has to be made and that's the director.
- 45:32And so after I heard that, I was like, OK, I'll do what he wants
- 45:35me to do. I'll try my best on it.
- 45:37But ultimately it's up to him what goes gets into the movie.
- 45:39But the. Other The other thing was there
- 45:42were times when, you know, Nick would fight for certain types of
- 45:45things and, you know, my first instinct was I have a lot more
- 45:50experience. But then as I as we went along,
- 45:52I realized that, yeah, I may have a lot more experience
- 45:55making movies, but I don't have a lot more experience on this
- 45:58particular subject and particularly what the young guy
- 46:02is going through. So, you know, I told him many
- 46:05times he's the heart and soul of the film and he would have
- 46:08better insights as to what Charlie was experiencing then I
- 46:12would and I would defer to him a lot of time.
- 46:15And, and were you surprised to hear the things that he didn't
- 46:19understand about you or didn't did, did or did understand about
- 46:24you when you were going through that as a result of the the
- 46:26process of writing and making the movie?
- 46:28We both had no idea where we each other were coming from, but
- 46:32then we. Come on in room she just Yeah,
- 46:36it's a. Blockage.
- 46:38Is that that's your. That's that's, that's our
- 46:41daughter. That's Romy.
- 46:42Come in, you want to be on? Oh, this?
- 46:44Is not. About me, all right.
- 46:47How old is she? She's 18.
- 46:49All right, nice to meet you. Are you going to college next
- 46:52year? Where?
- 46:56Oh, yeah, I ski up there. My buddy John Fitzpatrick has a
- 46:59house up there. Yeah, it's good.
- 47:02It's great. Good skiing, and you'll probably
- 47:04get discount passes to go ski. That would be good.
- 47:07Nice to meet. You're welcome to come on and
- 47:09talk if you want, about anything, whatever you want.
- 47:12That's about anything. It's loose.
- 47:14It's a podcast. That's the beauty of it.
- 47:15So you were saying sorry that you, you, you what?
- 47:20You sort of took away from his interaction with you over the
- 47:22script in the film. Romy, by the way, is who we
- 47:25understand discovered her parents.
- 47:29So she was 18 here, should be 28 now.
- 47:33She's the one that we understand discovered her parents.
- 47:36It's unclear if she lived on the property or across the street.
- 47:40I, I think it was probably across the street in their
- 47:45family compound. They had a couple of they had a
- 47:48guest house, they had some staff rooms and like a one, oh, oh,
- 47:53oh, oh, square foot home. So it was quite the nice place.
- 47:57But we also understand that across the street there was
- 47:59another home owned by the Reimer family, Reimer, Reiner family.
- 48:05And I think that she lived across the street least that
- 48:09that's what I think. I don't know that yet.
- 48:11We like, we both learned what each other went through during
- 48:15that time. But really the thing I took away
- 48:17from it was I got to see him in his element sort of directing
- 48:21and do all these things. And when I said that in the
- 48:23past, people would be like, well, weren't you on movies?
- 48:25That's before. But it's different because it's
- 48:28something I wrote, it's my dad, and it's something that we're
- 48:31collaborating on. And I saw he has sometimes a
- 48:34hard time expressing himself through just conversation, but
- 48:38through his. What do you mean by that?
- 48:40Because it seems like he's very expressive through conversation.
- 48:42Well, we're on a show right now, but.
- 48:45Oh, really? No, but he's he's pretty.
- 48:48Quiet in. He's he's, he's quieter, but
- 48:50he's still, he's listens. He's a great dad and like, I
- 48:53just mean that. Listen to that.
- 48:54He's best explaining himself when he's in his element make.
- 48:58He's a great dad. 10 years from now, young man, you're going to
- 49:02stab him to death, allegedly. A movie showing his how much he
- 49:07cares through that. Way.
- 49:08Do you think that that's the reason you do what you do?
- 49:11Because you. Emily, I like this comment.
- 49:14It kind of doesn't matter if he was psychotic.
- 49:15You're responsible for your own mental health.
- 49:17You don't brush your teeth, they rot.
- 49:19Don't stay in treatment, drug or mental.
- 49:22This Canada has happened. Yeah.
- 49:23And by me saying that it's. I'm not trying to find an excuse
- 49:27for him. I'm trying to find an
- 49:29explanation. I'm trying to find the motive,
- 49:32you know, and as as we all know, the motive doesn't really
- 49:35matter, not legally speaking. However, I mean to to the
- 49:42curious nature in all of us, we care why why would he do this?
- 49:47I mean, he is on this podcast 10 years ago going he's a great
- 49:50dad, he's a great dad. I have loving parents and 10
- 49:55years later he's going to allegedly, reportedly stabbed
- 50:00them to death. So seeking the why is what I'm
- 50:07doing here not as an excuse, or maybe I mean I probably used the
- 50:12wrong word, not even as an explanation, just so that we can
- 50:16understand why, right? Of course, again, legally
- 50:20doesn't have to be. Need you're Jewish?
- 50:22I'm Italian. I think we're very much alike it
- 50:24a lot of ways. We grew up in a neighborhood
- 50:26that was all Jews in Italian. Yeah, in the Bronx, yeah.
- 50:29Yeah. So it's very expressive in this.
- 50:31You guys have all the money. But other than that, where this
- 50:33is. But I I do mean that.
- 50:35You guys got the must? Yeah, exactly.
- 50:37We we, we make a good team. Do you think that in a some
- 50:42subconscious weird way or life sort of aligning up for you that
- 50:46Rob you, this business has helped you be be able to
- 50:50converse with people when you couldn't do it off camera?
- 50:52And I think so. I think so.
- 50:54I mean, listen, no matter what you know, area you're going,
- 50:58whether you're a writer or a musician or an artist or a
- 51:01filmmaker, it's a way of expressing yourself.
- 51:05And sometimes it's, you can express yourself through your
- 51:08work a lot easier than you can, you know, in real life.
- 51:12And I think that's one of the reasons people do what they do.
- 51:15It's a way of getting their feelings out, their thoughts
- 51:17out. And they put it out either on a
- 51:19canvas or a piece of paper or a piece of music.
- 51:21Yeah, that happened to me. I was doing these Big M and A
- 51:23deals. But then I started writing as a
- 51:25hobby and I made some short films and one of them got into
- 51:27the Aspen Comedy Festival. And then that led to stand up
- 51:31and I liked the idea of writing something.
- 51:33And I initially I got into this because on a lark I went to see
- 51:36Jay Leno at a private function and I had all these jokes
- 51:38written and I gave him the jokes and he called me the next day
- 51:41and said I'll hire you to start sending jokes in for The Tonight
- 51:43Show. That happens a lot of time, you
- 51:45know it's. Crazy.
- 51:46Two guys who worked on The Odd Couple and then on Laverne and
- 51:51Shirley, you know, Logan's and Mark Wothman, they they wrote a
- 51:56screenplay for a thing, I mean a television thing.
- 51:59And Mark was Mark's father was a limo driver for Jack Klugman and
- 52:04says here my son then is really wrote this.
- 52:07What do you think? And they hired them saying.
- 52:09Yeah, and then he did my joke the only week, and it was that.
- 52:11Must have been the thrill. Call me up.
- 52:13You wrote come out on the. Calls me up that day goes hey,
- 52:16it's Jay. I'm going to do I go why are you
- 52:17calling? Yeah, it's like, why are you
- 52:19calling me? Don't you have people that have
- 52:20people that have people that goes Nah, I like to keep in
- 52:22touch. I'm going to do your joke
- 52:22tonight so I got a bottle of champagne.
- 52:24I don't want to make this about me and.
- 52:26Diddy, Diddy, Diddy you. Did it?
- 52:28Yeah, did it real well. And my head exploded.
- 52:30You paid me $50.00 for this joke.
- 52:33Now I'm a middle class Italian kid from Rhode Island.
- 52:35I'm working on these billion dollar merger deals.
- 52:38They pale by comparison. And then I started to go do the
- 52:41stand up and I was living a secret double life.
- 52:44Look at his face. On Wall Street by day and at
- 52:46night, I would sneak around the dive bars, working open mic
- 52:48nights in my little suit and tie.
- 52:50And there's a whole. And then I was, I was very lost
- 52:53in my life for a few years because I thought I had my whole
- 52:56life figured out. Like I'm going to be a partner
- 52:59at the firm and I'll retire in Florida.
- 53:01And then this passionate thing hits me with it.
- 53:04So there's that choice. Do I stick with the money or do
- 53:07I go where I'm passion? There's no money and I couldn't
- 53:10make it. This decision and I was scared
- 53:12to death and I was like looking to anybody for advice.
- 53:15And it was a very, very I, I went through a midlife crisis in
- 53:17my 20s, late 20s. It was ridiculous.
- 53:19But so you're you're you're working on another screen.
- 53:24He was he was living in the guest house.
- 53:26And what was it about this that you thought could be a comedy?
- 53:31Well, because and the people that see this movie that I've
- 53:34been to rehab, there's funny stuff that happens and there's
- 53:38funny stuff that said. And you know, like he said, my
- 53:43first instinct is to make this a comedy, but he was one to bring
- 53:47the more serious element to it. But there's definitely funny
- 53:51stuff that happens. And there's funny stuff in the
- 53:52movie. You see the movie.
- 53:55I mean, there's a lot of big laughs in there.
- 53:56There's a couple of really funny scenes.
- 53:58Is it hard to reveal that stuff for you?
- 54:02That would seem to be hard for me.
- 54:05It's not hard to reveal that stuff.
- 54:06It's only hard to reveal that stuff to then get told you're a
- 54:10spoiled white rich kid and it's like, OK, maybe all these
- 54:14things. Well, who?
- 54:15Who would say that to you? Not your dad, no.
- 54:16No, but the world, you know, listen, I, I had to talk to him
- 54:21about this. Listen, I know what it's like to
- 54:23be the son of and to have people assume certain things about you
- 54:28and it's. Very difficult.
- 54:29How did you handle it? Well, I mean.
- 54:32I mean, obviously you didn't go to drugs, but you had must have
- 54:34had those issues. Your father's an icon, 60s.
- 54:36There was plenty of drugs around, but I you just have to
- 54:41know what you do and that you have to block out all that
- 54:44extraneous noise. And it's hard for him because
- 54:46this is the first time he's, you know, all of a sudden there's a
- 54:49lot of attention. People are talking and, you
- 54:52know, he has the double whammy he's got me and he got his
- 54:54grandfather. And they're going to say
- 54:56whatever the heck they want, but they don't know.
- 54:58They don't know what he's experienced.
- 54:59They don't know what he's gone through.
- 55:00They don't know why he's done what he does.
- 55:03And that you know, and it's pretty dumb.
- 55:05Pretty. Ignorant.
- 55:07Just because you're, you know you're.
- 55:10It's actually beautiful. But look how defensive Rob is of
- 55:14his son. He's he's coming to his defense.
- 55:18And I mean, I wonder how. I wonder how many times over the
- 55:26years there were fights between Nick and his parents and it just
- 55:29turned out, it turned out OK, right?
- 55:34It turned out without any blood spilled, without any, you know,
- 55:38swinging punches or blows or anything like that.
- 55:41And did the Rhymer Reiners think that that that night was no
- 55:47different? Money that doesn't mean
- 55:50anything. You know, people have their own.
- 55:52Human beings are complicated, messed up.
- 55:55And also, it's like the Kardashians can go shopping and
- 55:58complain about how there's no air conditioning in the fucking
- 56:00store and you know no one bashes them.
- 56:04It's like I wrote a movie about doing drugs and having a hard
- 56:07time and people still, you know? People have really said stuff
- 56:10about. That Oh yes, that's.
- 56:11Insane to me, absolutely. Yeah.
- 56:14Yeah, but you have to keep yourself focused and know what
- 56:16you do, know what you do. This is what we set out to do,
- 56:20right. And I told him, you know why
- 56:21we're making the movie. I said, I, I, you know, I don't
- 56:24care what happens. I don't care if, you know, they
- 56:27they people, they don't even see the movie.
- 56:29And nobody wants to say, I said, we're winning.
- 56:30We are winning. Yeah, because we're we're, you
- 56:33know, we're throwing ourselves into our work.
- 56:35Yeah. And, and good things are coming
- 56:37out of it and hopefully it can help some people because we've
- 56:40been on some shows that we were on a show the other day on.
- 56:42That moment right there where he's looking down, his mouth is
- 56:46open, that that just looked like he left.
- 56:52The moment doesn't it just looked like he left.
- 56:56On NPR, where people were calling in and we're saying
- 56:59thank you so much for, you know, sharing your story.
- 57:02And they were telling us about what they were going through.
- 57:05And so if you can be helpful in that way, then then that's good.
- 57:08And that must be good for you, Nick, to hear that because it
- 57:11counteracts the negativity of people saying, oh, you're just a
- 57:14privileged white kid and who why?
- 57:16You know all of that, right? I would imagine when you know
- 57:18you're touching people that way. Exactly.
- 57:20And yeah, that that's what we do it for us to start that
- 57:24conversation. Do you, do you see yourself like
- 57:27in this business now in some capacity or is this sort of just
- 57:30you look, you're young, how old are you?
- 57:3222. All right, so you're young.
- 57:34I was in my late 20s instead of complete career shift.
- 57:37So is this just get this out and you want to go somewhere else
- 57:41with your career or do you even know?
- 57:43And not that you have to know, it's young. 22 is young.
- 57:46When I first started working on it with him, I was like, Oh my
- 57:48God, I want to do this forever. And then?
- 57:50Let me just pause for a second, guys.
- 57:52We pride ourselves in this community of being the best chat
- 57:57on YouTube. We're the best behaved, right?
- 58:00You can, you can express your opinion, but do so respectfully
- 58:05and an understanding that not that not everybody is going to
- 58:11share your opinion. OK, so if I'm seeing comments
- 58:14like this from our lead moderator, the comments are off
- 58:17the wall. That means they're having to
- 58:19work hard to protect our live chat.
- 58:21Please don't be that person. Please, please, please, please,
- 58:25please. OK.
- 58:26I think I, I saw an earlier comment that was that was the
- 58:32same kind of thing like what is going on in in the live chat
- 58:37tonight. Please, please stop If, if you
- 58:44are the problem, OK, We, we, we welcome your feedback.
- 58:49We welcome your comments. Just make them respectful and
- 58:53understanding of other people. That's, that's all I'll say, OK.
- 58:57And then my moderators know what to do if if people can't, can't
- 59:01abide by that. We started doing some of this
- 59:03stuff and I started to catch some heat for, you know,
- 59:05whatever. Like on Twitter and stuff like
- 59:08that, like. I don't want to do this at all.
- 59:10Like this sucks and then but now I'm like, you know, he gets it
- 59:14even when he goes on The Tonight Show.
- 59:15Whatever, you're the son of Carl, right?
- 59:17So it's just the nature of it I guess.
- 59:20Liv they still call me me dead. Absolutely.
- 59:23Matter of what? By the way, I had Norman Lear on
- 59:25the podcast and he talked about how great you were and he talked
- 59:30about Norman was the best. The show, 1 of the episodes was
- 59:32so huge. It had like 60 million viewers.
- 59:35And there was a people went to the bathroom and the water table
- 59:38changed in New York when they went through.
- 59:40Yeah. Oh my God, I didn't know that.
- 59:41Yeah, that. Means the people went to the
- 59:43bathroom, they were all flushing in the toilet.
- 59:45Literally millions and millions of people.
- 59:47Yeah. And he said, you had said real
- 59:51quickly as we wrap up, Rob, that Carroll O'Connor was a, a
- 59:56support person for you in terms of like helping move you toward
- 59:59directing and well. Not not moving me towards
- 1:00:01directing, but he taught me a lot about acting and that was
- 1:00:06that if the script is good, if there's a good story, the actor
- 1:00:10doesn't have to do that much. You have to just deliver it.
- 1:00:13I mean, you don't have to do any kind of, you know, handsprings
- 1:00:17and pyrotechnics with your, with your emotions and acting.
- 1:00:19Let the let the story and the dialogue support you.
- 1:00:22And that was a bad that was great advice.
- 1:00:24I want to end on just a very funny story that I heard you
- 1:00:27tell, if you don't mind telling it, and it's the Mary Tyler
- 1:00:30Moore story with where you touched it, I talked.
- 1:00:34About on that con, Colbert. Yeah, and that's a true story.
- 1:00:37Do you mind telling it real? Quick, I don't mind.
- 1:00:39I mean, it happens. I mean, it's not, I'm not
- 1:00:42telling tales out of school because Mary talks about it in
- 1:00:44her book and she's actually told a story on the Letterman show.
- 1:00:48I was 14 and I was like, my hormones were raging and Mary
- 1:00:53Tyler Moore was like this really sexy.
- 1:00:56She was 2425, you know, she had those hot Capri pants and very
- 1:01:00skin tight. And I don't know what possessed
- 1:01:02me, but I just went and grabbed her, grabbed her tush, just gave
- 1:01:06her grab, you know, and I, I. Do that like.
- 1:01:08The devil was making me do it and my father called me into the
- 1:01:12office. And definitely don't do that.
- 1:01:13You all right, young men that are watching that?
- 1:01:15Mary Tyler Moore by the Tush and I Yeah.
- 1:01:19And he had a big smile on his face and said don't ever do that
- 1:01:21again. That's my boy.
- 1:01:24Well, it's a really great story and I wish you much success,
- 1:01:30Nick. And it seems like things are
- 1:01:31going great and maybe you write a movie for me and I'll get a
- 1:01:34little part in it or something like that.
- 1:01:36And about. A about a father who who hounds
- 1:01:39his kid to play baseball. No, you know what?
- 1:01:41We'll get your sister and it's he hounds his, his kid who's his
- 1:01:44daughter about skiing and being on a ski team in Bennington.
- 1:01:47So we'll all be in it. And then you And then your dad
- 1:01:50shows up and he's the old crusty ski guy that lives in a lodge
- 1:01:54with no heat. Wait a minute, I think you're on
- 1:01:56to something. And there's no and there's no
- 1:01:58plumbing. But he has the wisdom.
- 1:02:00He was burned by the spotlight of being an Olympic skier, but
- 1:02:04now he has the wisdom of life to impart on the three.
- 1:02:06Everybody's scared of him because they think he's
- 1:02:08something, that he's a monster, but he turns out to be the.
- 1:02:11It's like the Home Alone guy we're.
- 1:02:12Going to call that good, right. But that that is the, I mean,
- 1:02:17that was 10 years ago, not quite 10 years ago, right?
- 1:02:21And yeah, there were just moments in there where he tuned
- 1:02:25out. There were some moments in there
- 1:02:27where he's talking about how much he knows his parents love
- 1:02:31him, about how much you know, his, his dad is so great and
- 1:02:35everything. And then within, well, a little
- 1:02:38more than 10 years or not quite 10 years later, his parents are
- 1:02:43dead, having been stabbed to death by, according to the LAPD,
- 1:02:49in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office by
- 1:02:52their son, Nick Reiner. It's just, it pushed the right
- 1:02:58button. Gavin, huh?
- 1:02:59It's not going to the right button.
- 1:03:00Let's see. He Porque, no, Porque.
- 1:03:04I'm trying to get this here. I'll just there we go.
- 1:03:13And for some reason, my buttons stopped working.
- 1:03:16Let me let me fix this real quick.
- 1:03:20There we go. I just sorry, guys, let me let
- 1:03:26me fix my buttons. So, yeah, less than 10 years
- 1:03:30later, they would be dead on the floor of their Brentwood
- 1:03:33mansion, having been stabbed to death, according to the LAPD, by
- 1:03:37this man, Nick Reiner. Now, we've been going about an
- 1:03:42hour. I've still got a little bit to
- 1:03:44go because we got some headlines.
- 1:03:48True crime. Headlines.
- 1:03:56Pow. OK, for the headlines tonight,
- 1:03:58we're sticking with the Rob Reiner, Michelle Singer story,
- 1:04:01OK. Because there's so much going on
- 1:04:04there. And I told you guys that I would
- 1:04:06be touching a couple things, and this is where we're going to do
- 1:04:08it. Yeah.
- 1:04:11Nick Reiner hires lawyer Alan Jackson after his arrest.
- 1:04:15This is according to The Hollywood Reporter.
- 1:04:18It's been, it's been reported several other places.
- 1:04:23Let's see Nick Reiner under arrest for the murder.
- 1:04:25After the murders of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michelle
- 1:04:28Reiner has hired criminal defense attorney Alan Jackson
- 1:04:31for legal representation. Jackson on Tuesday, this very
- 1:04:35day, today confirmed to the assembled media while walking
- 1:04:38into a December 16th hearing before the LA District Attorney
- 1:04:42that he was representing Nick Reiner.
- 1:04:44He added Rob Reiner's son did not attend his scheduled
- 1:04:46arraignment hearing as he had not yet been medically cleared
- 1:04:50to be transported to the courthouse, which we also heard
- 1:04:53from the District Attorney. LA Bass.
- 1:04:57Jackson recently secured an acquittal for Karen Reed for
- 1:05:00second degree murder and manslaughter charges during a
- 1:05:02retrial and has also represented Weinstein, Spacey and their own
- 1:05:06sexual assault trials. As a former assistant head
- 1:05:09deputy for the Major Crimes Division in the Los Angeles
- 1:05:12County District Attorney's Office, Jackson secured a murder
- 1:05:15conviction for music icon Phil Spector.
- 1:05:19So there's Mr. Jackson, we all recognize what he looks like.
- 1:05:22He is an accomplished prosecutor, very accomplished
- 1:05:26defence attorney, defence attorney to the stars, maybe one
- 1:05:29of the most expensive attorneys in the nation.
- 1:05:33I, I haven't called the office to see what his hourly rate is,
- 1:05:35but I imagine it is astronomical.
- 1:05:40Moving on, we've got a few TMZ stories now.
- 1:05:42Again, it's TMZ, right? But sometimes they do good
- 1:05:47reporting. And so I'm just going to go
- 1:05:49ahead and read these, OK? Nick Reiner interrupted.
- 1:05:52Bill Hader at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party report alleges.
- 1:05:56I don't know if you guys watch or listen to Conan O'Brien Needs
- 1:05:59a friend, but his Christmas party is the talk of of his
- 1:06:03podcast. All of his guests love the
- 1:06:09Christmas party that he throws. Apparently there are two major
- 1:06:12Christmas parties that happen on the same day every year, one
- 1:06:16being Conan O'Brien's. And I mean people just love
- 1:06:21having invitations to this. OK, so Nick Reiner was acting
- 1:06:27out of place according to this this I'm reading the article
- 1:06:30guys. Nick Reiner was acting out of
- 1:06:32place at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party hours before his
- 1:06:34parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, were found stabbed to
- 1:06:37death in the couple's home. And now there's a report of a
- 1:06:40strange interaction that concerned partygoers.
- 1:06:44According to NBC News, Nick allegedly interrupted comedian
- 1:06:48Bill Hader mid conversation during the holiday gathering
- 1:06:51Saturday night in LA. The outlet reports Hader told
- 1:06:55Nick the conversation was private and Nick then slipped
- 1:06:58into 1000 yard stare before storming off.
- 1:07:03This is what Mr. Reiner looks like these days.
- 1:07:06As we reported, Nick also got into a loud shouting match with
- 1:07:10his father at the same event. In recent months, Rob and
- 1:07:12Michelle were struggling with how to deal with Nick as he
- 1:07:15continued to battle mental health issues and alleged
- 1:07:18substance abuse. Rob reportedly brought Nick to
- 1:07:21the party to keep an eye on him. And then hours after the party
- 1:07:24on Sunday afternoon, Rob and Michelle's daughter Romy
- 1:07:27discovered their stabbed and bloodied bodies at their
- 1:07:29Brentwood house. Rigor mortis had already set in,
- 1:07:33meaning they had been dead for hours.
- 1:07:36We're going to read what TMZ has to say about that.
- 1:07:41Again, it comes from unnamed sources, so we don't know.
- 1:07:46LAPD releases Nick Reiner arrest photos and murders of Rob and
- 1:07:50Michelle Reiner. So here's some images that were
- 1:07:54taken that were posted to Instagram.
- 1:07:56I clicked on the link. They are no longer there and I
- 1:07:59think the article mentions that. But police have released photos
- 1:08:02from Nick Reiner's arrest on suspicion of murdering his
- 1:08:04parents, Robin Michelle Reiner, and they show the alleged killer
- 1:08:08being handcuffed by members of the LAPD and US Marshals
- 1:08:11Service. In a social media post, the
- 1:08:13LAPD's Gang and Narcotics Division shared photos of Nick
- 1:08:16surrounded by cops with his hands cuffed behind him.
- 1:08:20Officers made the arrest Sunday night at Exposition Blvd. and
- 1:08:23Vermont Ave. near a train station, which you can clearly
- 1:08:26see in the background. A couple more images before the
- 1:08:32post was removed. The caption read Gang and Gang
- 1:08:36and Narcotics Division, US Marshall Task Force assisted
- 1:08:39robbery homicide Division and locating and arresting a double
- 1:08:42homicide suspect. And I think there's another one
- 1:08:45with yeah, with him on the ground.
- 1:08:46They, they took it seriously. Now, according to the press
- 1:08:51conference that we saw, they took him into custody without
- 1:08:54incident. But there are there are the
- 1:08:58photos in that article by TMZ. Looks like they're covering
- 1:09:03everybody's faces, including including Nick.
- 1:09:09So all right, last headline that I want to bring you tonight
- 1:09:13talks about the rigor mortis. This again from TMZ.
- 1:09:16Rob Reiner and Michelle were found were dead for hours before
- 1:09:19gruesome discovery as Nick Reiner prepares to make his 1st
- 1:09:22court appearance, TMZ has learned.
- 1:09:24Rob and Michelle had been dead for some time before their
- 1:09:27daughter made the grisly discovery Sunday.
- 1:09:29Law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
- 1:09:32When police arrived on the scene Sunday afternoon around 3:40 PM,
- 1:09:35rigor mortis appeared to have set in Rob and Michelle's
- 1:09:39bodies, meaning they had been deceased for hours before their
- 1:09:42daughter Romi arrived. Romy arrived at the house and
- 1:09:46found the bodies, then called police before calling longtime
- 1:09:49family friend Billy Crystal. Police interviewed Romy at the
- 1:09:53scene, continues TMZ, who by then was joined by a female
- 1:09:57friend. And we hear she told officers
- 1:10:00her brother Nick was, quote, dangerous. close quote.
- 1:10:03We're told she also said that Nick was living at the house,
- 1:10:06but he was not there when she arrived, insinuating he fled the
- 1:10:09scene. Sources tell us TMZ the scene
- 1:10:12was something out of a nightmare with the bodies butchered.
- 1:10:16The devastation was described as the actions of a quote madman.
- 1:10:20So those are the headlines that I wanted to bring you guys
- 1:10:24tonight. Let me check in on a couple of
- 1:10:26comments before we move over to our last segment.
- 1:10:29And let me bring up our, our victims here just to just to
- 1:10:34check in on, on what you're saying.
- 1:10:39It doesn't look like, let's see, bring this up.
- 1:10:47The addiction reigned supreme. And he had he did anything to
- 1:10:50get the money. OK, Robin has been a fanatic for
- 1:10:57an entire year Now. Listen, if you're going to be an
- 1:10:59addict, be an addict of the fin, not an addict of all the other
- 1:11:04stuff. And Robin, thank you very much
- 1:11:06for supporting me for so long. This is a tragedy, Julie Martino
- 1:11:13says. My theory is they were asleep.
- 1:11:17Terrible that the parents are paying for Nick's defense.
- 1:11:20Yeah. That's kind of the kind of the
- 1:11:22nature of generational wealth. Right.
- 1:11:30So in bed. But Michelle survived until
- 1:11:32ambulance. I have heard that.
- 1:11:35And so we've got conflicting information, but but I for some
- 1:11:42reason, I I'm kind of like leaning toward believing that
- 1:11:45she was long dead. But that's just that's
- 1:11:49speculation, right? Has nothing, nothing to do with
- 1:11:52fact. Let's see.
- 1:11:57Yeah. Sandy Mcmasters again says that
- 1:11:59she thought Michelle passed in the ambulance.
- 1:12:01That is something that has been on, has been shared online.
- 1:12:07I I have not found any credible source that has said that
- 1:12:10though. OK, let's move on, shall we
- 1:12:14guys? You know what time it is?
- 1:12:15You know what time it is. It's time for three questions.
- 1:12:18It's three questions with Gavin Fish.
- 1:12:25All right, you know what we do in this segment.
- 1:12:27In this segment, I answer 3 questions that you guys have
- 1:12:30sent in to me. Now you can send in questions to
- 1:12:33the e-mail address threequestions@gavinfish.com.
- 1:12:36Three questions at gavinfish.com.
- 1:12:37That is spelled out. THREE questions at
- 1:12:40gavinfish.com. You don't have to send in three
- 1:12:43questions. You could send in one.
- 1:12:44You could send in 100, just whatever you want and, and
- 1:12:48nothing's off the table. I I solemnly swear that I will
- 1:12:51answer each question to the best of my ability and that I will be
- 1:12:55honest in doing so, that I won't lead you astray.
- 1:12:58And we've had questions ranging from boxers or briefs to the
- 1:13:04mysteries of the universe to what should be the normal sexual
- 1:13:11habits of a married couple. I mean, it could be anything,
- 1:13:14could be anything. But let's, let's get in to
- 1:13:18question number one, shall we? Shall we question #1 what is my
- 1:13:24favorite holiday? My favorite holiday is probably
- 1:13:29Christmas. I think my favorite memories as
- 1:13:31a child surround Christmas. It is the time that we tend to
- 1:13:36all get together. Kimberly, who is my snuggly
- 1:13:39bear, my sweetie pie, my one and only.
- 1:13:41She and I have entered the stage of life where our children are
- 1:13:45on their own, are are leaving the nest.
- 1:13:48And we don't always get together.
- 1:13:51But if there is a time that we're going to get together,
- 1:13:53it's going to be around Christmas.
- 1:13:56So that's my favorite holiday. Question number 2.
- 1:13:59Will Kimberly. By Kimberly, you mean my sweetie
- 1:14:02pie and my snuggly bear? My one and only.
- 1:14:03Yeah. Will Kimberly ever join you on a
- 1:14:06live stream to give her opinion on a case?
- 1:14:11So my wife, bless her soul, this is just not something that she
- 1:14:18wants to do. And I don't blame her because
- 1:14:20it, it's, it's hard for a lot of people to do.
- 1:14:24You know, I'm not saying she's afraid of it, but I'm, but I
- 1:14:29know that public speaking is a thing that people fear and going
- 1:14:35on YouTube in front of dozens of people at a time, that can be
- 1:14:42intimidating. Kimberly doesn't do that.
- 1:14:44However, Kimberly does join me from time to time when I go to
- 1:14:49like for example, last year she was with me at Crime Con UK when
- 1:14:53we did true crime convo here in Western Pennsylvania, she was
- 1:14:57with me. So yeah, those are the best
- 1:14:59places to meet my better half. And 3rd question of the evening
- 1:15:06is do I have any tattoos? Do I have any tattoos?
- 1:15:11See this is the question where I am actually tempted to lie, but
- 1:15:18I already solemnly promised that I wouldn't do that so I will
- 1:15:22not. I do not have any tattoos, not a
- 1:15:25single solitary one. I am not anti tattoo, I'm not
- 1:15:31pro tattoo. When years ago, in fact, I think
- 1:15:36we were living in our first house that we bought.
- 1:15:38So it would have been in the 1st 3 1/2 years of our marriage.
- 1:15:41And we've been married 26 years now.
- 1:15:44People around us were getting tattoos and we're like, hey,
- 1:15:48maybe we should consider something.
- 1:15:50And we, we full on talked about it and there just wasn't
- 1:15:56anything that I wanted to put on my body, you know, and I maybe I
- 1:16:01think too deeply about it because there's some people that
- 1:16:03are just like, yeah, it's just another tattoo, whatever, you
- 1:16:05know, it doesn't really. But there's nothing that I care
- 1:16:08about attaching permanently to my body.
- 1:16:14And, you know, yeah, we have kids who have tattoos.
- 1:16:23It's whatever. I just not my thing.
- 1:16:27Not my thing. So those are our three
- 1:16:30questions, guys. Thank you very much.
- 1:16:31And remember to send in your questions to three questions at
- 1:16:35gavinfish.com. Three questions at
- 1:16:38gavinfish.com. If you have a question that you
- 1:16:41want me to answer. And guess what?
- 1:16:43I don't get tons. So if you ask a question, it's
- 1:16:47going to be on. All right, I think that's it for
- 1:16:50now, guys. Let me just check to see if
- 1:16:52there are any other times that you put GF in your comments.
- 1:17:01Emily Hart says just just give Kimberly a mic.
- 1:17:05She doesn't have to show her face.
- 1:17:07That's funny. No, I, I, I love my wife too
- 1:17:10much to to even ask her to do that.
- 1:17:13So yeah, guys, that is the show. Thank you very much for joining
- 1:17:19us tonight. We may or may not be back
- 1:17:23tomorrow. Tomorrow is a day where I'm
- 1:17:26having some, some dental work done and I don't know if I'm
- 1:17:29going to be up to it. I, I likely won't.
- 1:17:31So let's just plan on me not doing a show tomorrow.
- 1:17:35I typically do them Monday through Friday from or at 6:00
- 1:17:38PM Eastern Time. But do remember before we go
- 1:17:42that you can always reach out to me on my website, gavinfish.com.

- 1:18:16And for those of you who are members here on YouTube, that is
- 1:18:20huge. If you're if you're thinking
- 1:18:21about you're like, I don't want to commit to Patreon.
- 1:18:24I don't want to commit to a YouTube membership, but you do
- 1:18:26want to support me. There's a page on my website
- 1:18:29that spells out all the different ways that you can do
- 1:18:32it and I deeply appreciate it and love you for it.
- 1:18:34With that, I bid you I do until next time.
- 1:18:38Until then, take care of yourselves.
