- Ben: Good morning and welcome to your short-term mental bulletin on the 31st of July. So you may have noticed it's pretty hot out, and with some temperatures across Southern Europe pushing 40 degrees, we've noticed an interesting trend, and that is the search data, much like some of you I expect, have moved north. So here's your Friday briefing. The research published this week by Membrain and Data Appeal shows rising demand for northern regions. Southern Finland, Vesland in Norway, but also northern parts of southern countries, Galicia in Spain and Trentino Alto in Italy, Normandy, and Alesi in France. So the French version of hotels.com searches for Copenhagen are up two hundred and forty-six percent since the first French heat wave in May. Dublin is up 151%. Separate data from Adeus and the UN tourism points the same way. Czechia is Europe's fastest growing booked destination, up 18%. Iceland is up 11%. Search growth is running at 36% for Switzerland, and Sweden is running at 33%. Ireland for 31% and Norway as well 31%. Now the bit that's worth pricing on, I think, is that this is not the South collapsing. Spain is still Europe's most searched and most booked destination. Southern Mediterranean Europe and Northern Europe both grew in arrivals four percent for the first quarter, and Swedish tourism professor told AFP there's no discernible trend linked to the heat at all. So treat it as a redistribution, not a migration. Cooler markets are taking summer share. Warmer markets are being pushed towards spring and autumn. So the heat isn't moving your guests, but it is moving your calendar. Thank you for watching. that's been the week, and I'll see you next week. Thanks. Bye-bye.
