- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey tolerators, listens to all the men I've tolerated before
- 0:24Speaker 1: with Nathley Katona, your weekly look at everyday misogyny. Today
- 0:28Speaker 1: is yet another great and fantastic day because one of
- 0:32Speaker 1: my friends, who is a sugar cookie and I keep
- 0:34Speaker 1: trying to convince you to join the book club, is here.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Chris Deressa is one of the hosts of the hysterical
- 0:41Speaker 1: podcasts Fixing Famous People. You can catch my episode where
- 0:46Speaker 1: I believe the words he used were very Oh no,
- 0:51Speaker 1: I had these words scripted out. I was very reasonable
- 0:55Speaker 1: and rational about why Chris Pratt is the face of
- 1:00Speaker 1: white male misogyny. And I was reasonable and rational. Yes,
- 1:07Speaker 1: yes you are, and so make sure to go listen
- 1:10Speaker 1: to that episode and all of the episodes. It's hysterical.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Dominic is hysterical. It's my favorite part of my week.
- 1:17Speaker 1: He is also a producer for Bravo and has worked
- 1:20Speaker 1: with some of my favorite housewives. He is here to
- 1:23Speaker 1: talk about how reality TV reflects our internalized need to
- 1:27Speaker 1: keep up with the Joneses and having older women on TV,
- 1:31Speaker 1: which I think is so exciting about the Housewives.
- 1:35Speaker 2: I also have a third prong to this that I
- 1:38Speaker 2: haven't even prepped you with that I was going to
- 1:39Speaker 2: make a surprise. So I love there, I'll tell you.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Okay, awesome. I think I also have a curve ball
- 1:45Speaker 1: too that I was thinking about in the shower when
- 1:48Speaker 1: it comes to the housewives. But before we get ahead
- 1:51Speaker 1: of ourselves, why don't you introduce yourself to the toleraters
- 1:54Speaker 1: by telling a little bit about your actual background with
- 1:57Speaker 1: television in your career.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Okay, hi everyone, I'm Chris. I am I like at
- 2:04Speaker 2: an AA meeting. I don't know why, I just yesd
- 2:05Speaker 2: that I started in TV in twenty thirteen. It's now
- 2:09Speaker 2: going to be ten years. Actually it's ten years now. Basically, wow,
- 2:13Speaker 2: I didn't even think about that. I moved here like before,
- 2:15Speaker 2: It's been ten years that I moved to New York
- 2:18Speaker 2: after college. My first job ever was Iron Chef America's
- 2:22Speaker 2: final season on Food Network. I mean to make things
- 2:26Speaker 2: very short. I basically went from there to doing a
- 2:28Speaker 2: few other Food Network shows. I started as a PA
- 2:32Speaker 2: on season seven of Real Housewives of New York City.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I've worked on shows like Beat Bobby Flay, a show
- 2:38Speaker 2: on Netflix called Snack Versus Chef. I've worked on obviously
- 2:41Speaker 2: the Real Houses of New York City. I've worked on
- 2:44Speaker 2: the Real Housewives of New Jersey. I've worked on Summer House,
- 2:48Speaker 2: The Big Shot with Bethany on what was then HBO Max.
- 2:52Speaker 2: I'm the producer of Bethany's YouTube show, and I'm also
- 2:56Speaker 2: I've also done what other shows have I done? Oh?
- 2:58Speaker 2: My No Orthodox Life on Netflix. I mean I've done
- 2:59Speaker 2: a lot, but Ultimate Girls Trip, Ultimate Girls Trip Us
- 3:03Speaker 2: Season's four and five.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I don't know if everyone caught how many times he
- 3:07Speaker 1: said Bethany, but that is my favorite housewife. Yes, Bethany
- 3:12Speaker 1: has always been my favorite housewife. I think I was
- 3:15Speaker 1: really I mean, never tell her of this. I was
- 3:17Speaker 1: really impressionable to strong women when New York Housewives were
- 3:23Speaker 1: a thing and like in their Hayday and Bethany, you know,
- 3:28Speaker 1: she's like that aunt that you go to Christmas every
- 3:30Speaker 1: year and you're really like, I want to be on
- 3:33Speaker 1: board with everything Aunt Bethany says this year, but I
- 3:36Speaker 1: know that there will be at least two things that
- 3:38Speaker 1: I'm going to have to be like, Oh, I tell
- 3:40Speaker 1: people you're my favorite aunt.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's that's really funny.
- 3:47Speaker 1: That is really funny. But I've always loved her. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: love her attitude. One of the things that I have
- 3:53Speaker 1: on our outline is the real What fascinates me about
- 3:57Speaker 1: the real Housewives, and it fascinates me every time we
- 4:00Speaker 1: talk about reality TV or anything women are doing in
- 4:05Speaker 1: the public eye is there's a following, there's an audience,
- 4:09Speaker 1: there's a fascination. But when you talk to other people
- 4:13Speaker 1: about housewives, there's never there not never, there's not always
- 4:18Speaker 1: a level of just like respecting what these women are
- 4:22Speaker 1: allowing you to view in their lives. And I was like,
- 4:24Speaker 1: we've seen divorces, job changes, companies being built, the amount
- 4:29Speaker 1: of concompanies, companies, death, death, jail time sometimes, and we've
- 4:38Speaker 1: seen it all on Housewives. And I would hope that
- 4:41Speaker 1: this far into the Housewives being a thing, we would
- 4:46Speaker 1: stop just talking about them like they are, in fact
- 4:49Speaker 1: just housewives moving off of some old guy sitting on
- 4:52Speaker 1: a yacht, because I feel like that's been their reputation
- 4:55Speaker 1: when they started out, like who are these ladies?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Well, that was what's funny? Is like in New York
- 5:00Speaker 2: I started in season seven and for the most part,
- 5:02Speaker 2: like none of them were in relationships right like when
- 5:06Speaker 2: I was a PA on season seven, like Bethany was
- 5:10Speaker 2: separated from Jason, Ramona and Mario had split up, Luanne
- 5:13Speaker 2: and the Count were not together, and Luanne had broke
- 5:15Speaker 2: up with Jacques. Sonya was single, Derinda had just come
- 5:20Speaker 2: on and she was single, Heather was married, Kristin Takman
- 5:26Speaker 2: was married, and Carol was single. Yeah, so it's like
- 5:29Speaker 2: other than two of them, like all of them were single.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Whereas now when I work on Real Hostess of New Jersey, like,
- 5:34Speaker 2: the men are such a huge part of the show,
- 5:36Speaker 2: and that took a lot of adjusting where I was like,
- 5:38Speaker 2: I don't care about what your husband's schedule is, like
- 5:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean, And then it was like, oh,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I actually no, I need to actually think about what
- 5:44Speaker 2: your husband's schedule is because he's like a huge part
- 5:46Speaker 2: of all of your scenes.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're a very family oriented group of housewives.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Yes, But that being said, like a lot of what
- 5:55Speaker 2: I started working on Housewives and a lot of reality
- 5:59Speaker 2: shows was women that were single, that weren't with a man,
- 6:03Speaker 2: that were like trying to figure it all out.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I think Andy recently posted on social media the current
- 6:10Speaker 1: definition of a housewife, since it technically doesn't have to
- 6:13Speaker 1: be a wife anymore and hasn't had to be a
- 6:16Speaker 1: wife in a while.
- 6:17Speaker 2: No.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I think after some just like word jargon where he
- 6:21Speaker 1: mumbled on about what a definition could be, he's like,
- 6:24Speaker 1: have you looked at a husband before you're a housewife?
- 6:28Speaker 1: Have you met someone's husband housewife?
- 6:30Speaker 2: Wait, that's actually really funny. I did not see that.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Have you looked at a husband before? Right?
- 6:36Speaker 1: Because I like you, I remember those very early days
- 6:40Speaker 1: of Orange County and New York and all of them,
- 6:44Speaker 1: and how I mean when we go back to rewatch
- 6:48Speaker 1: them and you're like, oh, this is really the direction
- 6:51Speaker 1: they thought that this show was going to go in,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and now it's completely like side swiped and turned when
- 6:58Speaker 1: it comes to I think, at least Orange County.
- 7:00Speaker 2: It also was something like they were so young back then,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and like, I mean, this is kind of what we
- 7:05Speaker 2: like originally were talking about. It is like a lot
- 7:08Speaker 2: of these women are fifth or like sixty plus now,
- 7:12Speaker 2: like Ramona's like sixty six years old or sixty seven
- 7:15Speaker 2: I believe, and her birthday is and by the time
- 7:17Speaker 2: this comes out, she might be sixty eight years old,
- 7:20Speaker 2: Like you know what I mean. Like that's another like
- 7:21Speaker 2: Vicky gun Wilson is like in her late.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sixties and she's never gonna stop working.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And it's no never ever. But but I mean it's
- 7:30Speaker 2: to like broaden it just to like be making fun
- 7:32Speaker 2: of them, but like like to make it into kind
- 7:34Speaker 2: of like what your podcast is about, Like where on
- 7:38Speaker 2: scripted TV? If it's where is there a woman that's
- 7:41Speaker 2: sixty something years old? Other than Grace and Frankie, the
- 7:43Speaker 2: best television Joe to ever ex exist? Like where are
- 7:46Speaker 2: their women in their sixties and seventies? Like having real
- 7:49Speaker 2: like agency over their storylines.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Agency over their storylines. Also just like getting down and
- 7:56Speaker 1: dirty in the dating world. I think that's as you know,
- 8:00Speaker 1: that's my favorite part of the New York Housewives is
- 8:03Speaker 1: that they're always down to party and they're always down
- 8:05Speaker 1: to get like some strange if that's what their mood is. Hey,
- 8:09Speaker 1: And even when Grayson Crankie would have romantic subplots, and
- 8:15Speaker 1: I agree, Grayson Pranky is brilliant television. And I have
- 8:19Speaker 1: recently told people that the reason I need the writers
- 8:22Speaker 1: strike to end is because I don't like the idea
- 8:25Speaker 1: of Jane Fonda in the heat for that long. I'm like,
- 8:27Speaker 1: someone get Jane Fonda.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Correct, and you know she's going to be out there
- 8:32Speaker 2: like she's not going to go inside.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I was like, get her a bottle of water
- 8:35Speaker 1: and an umbrella. She can't just be out there in
- 8:37Speaker 1: the oppressive heat. But the even when they were very
- 8:44Speaker 1: tame storylines, even when they were making vibrators for older women,
- 8:50Speaker 1: which was also revolutionary and they should have done it
- 8:53Speaker 1: for that, And just like that episode where they had vibrators,
- 8:57Speaker 1: I was like, where's the Grayson Frankie one.
- 8:59Speaker 2: I can't even like, do not allow us to go
- 9:03Speaker 2: into an ingust like that tangent because it'll never stop
- 9:06Speaker 2: and I can't but yes, correct, like Grayson Frankly did
- 9:11Speaker 2: it already, like the Widow Summit. I'm sorry, I'm going
- 9:14Speaker 2: into it. I can't dive to back one. I will
- 9:15Speaker 2: never stop. But like for yeah, the reason I'm saying
- 9:19Speaker 2: this is because like, where on scripted TV are these
- 9:21Speaker 2: women represented with a in a main in an a story.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah capacity nowhere like name one role. I mean outside
- 9:32Speaker 2: of again, Grayson Frankie separated from this.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I mean, I think Golden Girls is still syndicated and
- 9:38Speaker 1: you can stream it, but.
- 9:41Speaker 2: But they were like fifty they weren't even like they're
- 9:44Speaker 2: way older than them.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Now, yeah, I always that meme that gets passed around
- 9:50Speaker 1: where it's like these, this is the cast of New
- 9:52Speaker 1: York Housewise, and this is what the Golden Girls looks
- 9:56Speaker 1: like at that time.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah. And the thing about it for me is in
- 10:02Speaker 1: my world and in my life, the older women in
- 10:06Speaker 1: my family are my favorite people to hang out with
- 10:09Speaker 1: because and it happened to me as soon as I
- 10:11Speaker 1: third turn thirty, I was like, I no longer have
- 10:15Speaker 1: one fuck to give about anything that I could be doing,
- 10:20Speaker 1: or my reputation or what anyone might decide for me.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And those were always that was a big lead from
- 10:27Speaker 1: my aunt's, my mother, my great aunts, my grandmother, just
- 10:31Speaker 1: that like I'm going to do it my way attitude.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And we don't also see a lot of that on
- 10:38Speaker 1: television anymore. I just finished like a whole season of
- 10:41Speaker 1: Sweet Magnolias. Those women never take charge of their own destiny.
- 10:46Speaker 2: I mean, I wish I could comment, but I have
- 10:48Speaker 2: not seen it, but like, no, it's it's it really
- 10:51Speaker 2: is that thing. It's like, think of how many podcasts
- 10:52Speaker 2: listen to the like female actors that are like every
- 10:55Speaker 2: role I always get is like me being someone's wife,
- 10:58Speaker 2: Like do you know what I mean? Like I'm the
- 10:59Speaker 2: main hearacters that like rubs lotion on their elbows and
- 11:02Speaker 2: like talks to them in the bedroom before they go
- 11:04Speaker 2: to bed, and like that's what the role is. Yeah,
- 11:07Speaker 2: and even these women and that the thing is like
- 11:09Speaker 2: these a lot of these women back in the day,
- 11:10Speaker 2: Like I think about it, like Vicky was married to Dawn,
- 11:13Speaker 2: Like Momono was married to Mario, Like who else Gretchen
- 11:18Speaker 2: I mean not Gretchen. Tamra was married to Simon. Like
- 11:21Speaker 2: they all had these people that were like the men
- 11:23Speaker 2: in their lives and they were like I need to
- 11:25Speaker 2: get out from under you. I need to like go
- 11:27Speaker 2: be my own person. And like I'm actually the one
- 11:29Speaker 2: that's like running the whole ship. Why are you the
- 11:31Speaker 2: person that looks like they're the head of the household.
- 11:33Speaker 1: And the thing about that point is I think that's
- 11:36Speaker 1: what housewives get the most made fun of about. When
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's like, oh, I can't believe she's started his skin line.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I'm like, well, she wants to start her skin line because.
- 11:46Speaker 2: To leave her husband, to leave her husband, yes.
- 11:48Speaker 1: And it might not even be that she's actively leaving
- 11:51Speaker 1: her husband, but in the back of her mind she
- 11:53Speaker 1: probably thinks, oh, I need my own money. I will
- 11:56Speaker 1: one day have to leave him. Probably well, and how.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Many I mean back, think about it. If you're fifty
- 12:03Speaker 2: something now, when you got married at like twenty one,
- 12:05Speaker 2: that was thirty years ago, you weren't thinking that, Like,
- 12:08Speaker 2: no one was telling you to have your own money.
- 12:10Speaker 2: They were saying, like, make sure that your relationship is
- 12:12Speaker 2: good so that you can continue to have money. Yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 2: And so it's like a lot of the it's it's
- 12:17Speaker 2: things that like thirty ye old women are doing now
- 12:19Speaker 2: that like these women at sixty are like finally realizing
- 12:22Speaker 2: they need to do, which I think is compelling.
- 12:25Speaker 1: It is compelling. It's and because you've entered my life
- 12:30Speaker 1: as a very good friend, I have re well and scandable.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I've re immersed myself in Bravo. A lot of my
- 12:37Speaker 1: day is spent listening to Bravo just as I walk
- 12:40Speaker 1: around my house. And to look at it as a
- 12:44Speaker 1: thirty five year old woman who has a podcast about misogyny,
- 12:48Speaker 1: who desperately wants women to be able to stick up
- 12:51Speaker 1: for themselves, and for the Barbie movie to be made real.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I I'm like, oh, they were doing it the entire time,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and we all laughed at them and called them shrewd.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Well And like now the person that will be the
- 13:07Speaker 2: critic of this will say, well, all they do is fight,
- 13:09Speaker 2: and that's what the show is, and that like brings
- 13:12Speaker 2: you know, feminism back nine hundred million years. And to them,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I say, this is my third prong slash curveball as
- 13:20Speaker 2: you put it. The Real Housewives in many other reality
- 13:25Speaker 2: television shows is conflict resolution porn. We make people confront
- 13:34Speaker 2: their problems m ones that people walking around every day
- 13:39Speaker 2: wish that they could do. They wish they could say,
- 13:42Speaker 2: my sister in law is a fucking cunt. Am I
- 13:46Speaker 2: on this podcast? Ye? Always my sister in law is
- 13:49Speaker 2: a fucking cunt, And I wish that I could tell
- 13:52Speaker 2: her to her face, yeah, and tell her why.
- 13:56Speaker 1: My sister just sent me a TikTok And it was
- 13:58Speaker 1: a woman. It was just one of those sterian too
- 14:01Speaker 1: be this with text over their face and it was like, yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 1: I'm so tired of arguing with people with women who
- 14:07Speaker 1: did not grow up with a sister. Yes, I called
- 14:09Speaker 1: you a dirty bitch and that you would die a slut,
- 14:13Speaker 1: but I was angry, And what do you mean you
- 14:16Speaker 1: don't want to go get ice cream?
- 14:19Speaker 2: Yeah, like I want to hit you with my car,
- 14:21Speaker 2: But like, like that wasn't I didn't mean that. Yeah right, I.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Didn't mean that. I may have thrown a DVD case
- 14:26Speaker 1: at your head, but that was forty five minutes ago.
- 14:29Speaker 1: I thought we had moved past it.
- 14:32Speaker 2: No, But but this is I say this to mean
- 14:35Speaker 2: like you wanted to say, Oh, my friend who's insufferable
- 14:38Speaker 2: that won't stop being annoying and is like really being
- 14:41Speaker 2: really annoyed to me instead of me like not talking
- 14:44Speaker 2: to her anymore and her never understanding why. I'm gonna
- 14:46Speaker 2: actually sit down with her and tell her why she's
- 14:48Speaker 2: being the way that why this is affecting me in
- 14:50Speaker 2: the following ways, and like she's then gonna have to
- 14:53Speaker 2: respond to that, and we're gonna have to work through it,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and we're going to see each other again because we
- 14:59Speaker 2: are on the same tele vision, so we have to
- 15:02Speaker 2: rectify this for the greater good.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Well, and I think the opposite end of that conversation
- 15:08Speaker 1: is important too, because we need models of people to
- 15:13Speaker 1: be like I feel like you're being insufferable or not
- 15:17Speaker 1: taking my allergies into consideration when you make the cheese
- 15:20Speaker 1: plate or any of it. Yes, and you, and then
- 15:24Speaker 1: we also get to watch the other person on the
- 15:27Speaker 1: other side of that struggle with it and then.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Even receive feedback.
- 15:32Speaker 1: Yeah. And I don't know how many friends you've given
- 15:36Speaker 1: feedback too, but I can tell you that ghosting is
- 15:40Speaker 1: usually less emotional labor for me because people aren't I
- 15:44Speaker 1: mean myself included, people aren't good at receiving feedback.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Oh, correct, And it's because they don't get it often.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And it's because we've been told it's just nicer to
- 15:57Speaker 1: make nice, like if you're going to spend this time
- 15:59Speaker 1: with your and why ruin it by being like, oh,
- 16:02Speaker 1: this happened to me when I was in high school.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Of all places, we used to go to the Six
- 16:06Speaker 1: Flags a lot because what else are you going to do?
- 16:10Speaker 1: And I get dehydrated and I get dehydration migraines really easily.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So whenever I'm at an amusement park, I know that
- 16:17Speaker 1: there's going to be about an hour that I have
- 16:20Speaker 1: to take a break. Well, have you ever been on
- 16:22Speaker 1: vacation with people who need the entire group to do
- 16:25Speaker 1: the exact same thing every moment of the least my
- 16:29Speaker 1: least favorite thing a million times. Huh uh huh. Because
- 16:33Speaker 1: I'm seventeen years old, I can sit on a park
- 16:36Speaker 1: bench while you ride the Monster fifteen times, Like I'll
- 16:39Speaker 1: be chill.
- 16:40Speaker 2: I'll be right here when you get back.
- 16:42Speaker 1: There's probably a book in my purse, like I'll probably
- 16:44Speaker 1: make a friend, It'll be okay.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And like I need to sit down, so like I'm
- 16:50Speaker 2: gonna I like I medically need to do that, do
- 16:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean? It's like like common safety,
- 16:55Speaker 2: I need to do that.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So this is still so I'm seventeen. I still have
- 17:00Speaker 1: all of the internalized misogyny and people pleasing to me.
- 17:03Speaker 1: So I was like, Okay, I guess I'm going to
- 17:05Speaker 1: ride four more roller coasters and then we'll go home.
- 17:08Speaker 1: And I eventually get nauseous and my friend's boyfriend is like,
- 17:12Speaker 1: namally has to sit in the front seat, and my
- 17:14Speaker 1: friend is like, why does she have to sit in
- 17:16Speaker 1: the front seat. I'm your girlfriend. I should be in
- 17:18Speaker 1: the front seat with you. And he's like, because she's dying.
- 17:20Speaker 1: She's going to die, Like I just need to get
- 17:22Speaker 1: her where the ear is on her and things can
- 17:24Speaker 1: blow on her and you've literally tried to murder your
- 17:28Speaker 1: friend today. She did not receive that. Well, he's like
- 17:30Speaker 1: she told you fifteen times, like I'm going to get nauseous,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I am going to pass out, I am going to
- 17:36Speaker 1: get dehydrated. And my friend at the time, in her
- 17:41Speaker 1: head it was all about, well, I plan and this
- 17:44Speaker 1: happens on my house lives too.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I plan something so nice for us. Yeah, I want
- 17:49Speaker 3: to be the busiest scene you could ever do. Is
- 17:53Speaker 3: like just be mad that everyone's be mad that no
- 17:55Speaker 3: one is like taking being respectful of you.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but I knew the best sheet. I believe it's
- 18:02Speaker 1: Dorinda who's always like I cleaned my house, I invited
- 18:04Speaker 1: you to my house. I had really expensive wine, and
- 18:09Speaker 1: you want to go home early. Yeah, And I think
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's so important to watch women do that. The Queer
- 18:20Speaker 1: Ultimatum those first few episodes before everyone got really toxic
- 18:25Speaker 1: and angry at one another, when they would just have
- 18:28Speaker 1: disagreements in their own partnership and they feel like, well,
- 18:32Speaker 1: you know, I just remember a couple of weeks ago
- 18:34Speaker 1: you were feeling like this and everything was really even
- 18:37Speaker 1: healed and okay, I was like, is this what communication
- 18:40Speaker 1: could be like?
- 18:41Speaker 2: And like it's also a thing where it's like you
- 18:44Speaker 2: can just like never say anything and then just like
- 18:46Speaker 2: secretly hate that person forever. And that's like not the
- 18:48Speaker 2: point of this, like the point a lot of people
- 18:50Speaker 2: that go on. As many times as people are like
- 18:53Speaker 2: reality TV ruined my life. There's so many people that
- 18:56Speaker 2: are like reality TV saved my life because you forced
- 18:59Speaker 2: me to confront all of my problems, do you know
- 19:02Speaker 2: what I mean? They're like my marriage was crumbling and
- 19:04Speaker 2: I wasn't dealing with it, and so I just like
- 19:08Speaker 2: like let it do that. I was just like a
- 19:10Speaker 2: drift or I you know what I mean, Like my
- 19:12Speaker 2: kid needed blank like in blank, and I wasn't seeing that.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And so because we were doing like, you know, scenes
- 19:18Speaker 2: with my child, I was like they were pushed to
- 19:21Speaker 2: tell me that they needed blank like in blank. Like
- 19:24Speaker 2: there's many and not to say that I'm like the
- 19:25Speaker 2: fucking savior of the world, because I'm not, but like
- 19:27Speaker 2: there's it is a thing where you are you are
- 19:30Speaker 2: pushed to confront the problems that you.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Have in your life well because you also and I
- 19:35Speaker 1: think this is where every bachelor relationship falls apart. You
- 19:39Speaker 1: also at some point sit down with your family and
- 19:42Speaker 1: loved ones and watch the season that you took part.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Of and then talk about it afterwards, like you basically
- 19:48Speaker 2: have therapy.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Right, And so many people have sat on a final
- 19:52Speaker 1: Rose and said, so, I thought that the edit would
- 19:56Speaker 1: just be me and Ken and our love story, and
- 20:00Speaker 1: the world would get to watch him fall in love
- 20:02Speaker 1: with me every week, And yet I had to watch
- 20:06Speaker 1: that bastard make out with four women at once in
- 20:10Speaker 1: a hot tub. And then yeah, but here's.
- 20:13Speaker 2: The thing with that, I it drives me. Oh, sorry,
- 20:17Speaker 2: you were saying.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Something and I can believe it, but also but then
- 20:19Speaker 1: also have to explain that to Grandma, like to be like,
- 20:22Speaker 1: there's Ken.
- 20:24Speaker 2: It's it's the Bachelor. Drives me up a wall because
- 20:28Speaker 2: it's like the every person that goes on it acts
- 20:30Speaker 2: like they had no idea what they were getting too.
- 20:33Speaker 2: And there's been what thirty some seasons of the show,
- 20:35Speaker 2: so like you have zero excuse to think why, like
- 20:40Speaker 2: you have no reason to believe, like, oh, I didn't
- 20:42Speaker 2: think they were gonna edit me this day. I what
- 20:44Speaker 2: like like I don't understand and not that like there
- 20:48Speaker 2: isn't like stuff happening. Let's never forget like all the
- 20:51Speaker 2: like weird lawsuits that happened a couple of years ago.
- 20:54Speaker 2: But like like let me not you know what I mean?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Like Unreal was based on something.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and we know that I could have lost
- 21:01Speaker 1: just Unreal in.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Seventeen seasons of it. Seventeen seasons of it. I'm furious that. Well,
- 21:06Speaker 2: that's why because it's like we were the two viewers
- 21:08Speaker 2: of the show. We were no one else watched it
- 21:12Speaker 2: other than us, but like would watch it for I
- 21:14Speaker 2: would still be watching it right now. But like that
- 21:17Speaker 2: being said, it's like yes, but like do your research
- 21:20Speaker 2: mm hmm, come correct. And that's what happens when you
- 21:23Speaker 2: have twenty two year olds or nineteen year olds on
- 21:26Speaker 2: a reality show, is that you have deer in headlights.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Guess what you don't have whenever you have a fifty
- 21:30Speaker 2: seven year old woman coming on TV for the first time,
- 21:33Speaker 2: not someone that's a deer in headlights?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Well, didn't you wasn't didn't a housewife just come out
- 21:39Speaker 1: and say because she got deemed for something or saying
- 21:42Speaker 1: something but acting another way towards a lady during the
- 21:46Speaker 1: season or whatever. And she goes, I hope you all well.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And Sheena's currently going through this with the new season
- 21:53Speaker 1: of vander Pump Rules being filmed, because she's been photographed
- 21:56Speaker 1: with Sandoval a couple of times, and she's like, I
- 22:00Speaker 1: so you know that this is my job. They pay
- 22:02Speaker 1: me to show up where he is.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Well, that's where that that's the thing that's funny. And
- 22:07Speaker 2: I've told you to. Some kinds were like, I don't
- 22:08Speaker 2: know where the show goes from here, because if they're not,
- 22:10Speaker 2: if Tom Sandoval isn't a part of the.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Show, like there's no story right unless.
- 22:16Speaker 2: As much as I know he's thinking a reviled like
- 22:18Speaker 2: villain of the world, but like he is the only
- 22:21Speaker 2: reason the show hasn't sid do you know what I mean?
- 22:23Speaker 2: Like that? If not for that, what are they talking about? Nothing?
- 22:26Speaker 1: And Reality TV super fan Annie Seek, who has been
- 22:30Speaker 1: on the show numerous times to talk about whatever we
- 22:32Speaker 1: want to talk about Reality TV scanned of all being
- 22:35Speaker 1: one we mapped out the whole next season. I was like,
- 22:38Speaker 1: they will make Schwartz and probably try to bully Sheena
- 22:41Speaker 1: into being friends with Sandoval again because someone will have
- 22:44Speaker 1: to speak to him. It's not like that one weird
- 22:47Speaker 1: season where no one spoke to Brock, but no one
- 22:50Speaker 1: really had their heart set on seeing Brock on TV,
- 22:53Speaker 1: so they could kind of just have him in the
- 22:56Speaker 1: background of a scene and be like, oh, yeah, Sheena
- 22:59Speaker 1: is still married to him, good for her.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's sorry. We're getting off course now though,
- 23:06Speaker 2: But I don't know, And like, yes, are there moments
- 23:08Speaker 2: that are bad? Yes? Yes. Are there moments where it's
- 23:11Speaker 2: cringe worthy? Yes? Yes. Are there things where it's like, oh,
- 23:14Speaker 2: that's very like low blow or like that's you know
- 23:16Speaker 2: what I mean? Does it get dirty? Yes? However, they
- 23:19Speaker 2: at least have a platform to do to exist on
- 23:26Speaker 2: guess what you know? And up until this Golden Bachelor, Like,
- 23:29Speaker 2: why do you think they're having the Golden Bachelor because
- 23:30Speaker 2: housewives are sixty years old?
- 23:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and they all should have been a contesta. And
- 23:35Speaker 1: I'm mad that not.
- 23:36Speaker 2: One of them is. I know, I don't think. Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 2: I know, it's like that's upsetting. But and but again,
- 23:42Speaker 2: where are the what other role do you have that
- 23:44Speaker 2: is like a three dimensional character other than Grayson Frankie
- 23:47Speaker 2: that are like women of a certain age, And the
- 23:49Speaker 2: reason that the whole thing is called Housewives is because
- 23:51Speaker 2: of Desperate Housewives, which I remember we like fucking ate
- 23:53Speaker 2: up like it was a Sunday dinner, you know what
- 23:57Speaker 2: I mean. But like that was one show. Uh, that
- 24:00Speaker 2: was one show that happened like that, and then it
- 24:04Speaker 2: was to Never, which became the biggest show on television
- 24:06Speaker 2: by the way, So you'd think that they would try
- 24:08Speaker 2: to make more like it, but instead it was like
- 24:10Speaker 2: that was the one fluke show that they had and
- 24:12Speaker 2: then never to be heard from ever again.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And I think when it comes to well that was
- 24:16Speaker 1: cringe or that was a misstep or she was rude,
- 24:19Speaker 1: I was like, yeah, it's reality TV. There are days
- 24:22Speaker 1: I say something and I'm like, oh, that was cringey.
- 24:27Speaker 1: That wasn't great on my part, but that's what we're watching.
- 24:31Speaker 1: And then you get mad if it's two scripted, because
- 24:34Speaker 1: some of them have really like come up with their
- 24:37Speaker 1: own scripts in their head before they're filming. But and
- 24:41Speaker 1: you see that happen and you're like, well, why is
- 24:43Speaker 1: she on the show? Everything she says sounds played out,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and it's like, well, because every time one of these
- 24:48Speaker 1: women has a real moment and is like you know what,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I just really wanted to tell Sally Sue to fuck off,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I did because I was so sick of hearing
- 24:58Speaker 1: her mouth. Then you're also mad at her because she's
- 25:01Speaker 1: a bully.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, And I think it's very This is so a
- 25:06Speaker 2: cliche to say that it's like women living out loud.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Mm hmm, Like it's not a woman like like it
- 25:12Speaker 2: really is the thing of like, it's not a woman
- 25:14Speaker 2: that's like in polite society that's like, you know, like
- 25:19Speaker 2: just not going to say anything and not going to
- 25:21Speaker 2: do this and not going to do that. No, they're
- 25:22Speaker 2: women that are like letting their emotions be known and
- 25:25Speaker 2: making sure that they're not just like letting everyone you
- 25:28Speaker 2: know what I mean, being like the gatekeeper of everyone's
- 25:31Speaker 2: like pain and like being like I'm going to keep
- 25:33Speaker 2: everything together so that everyone else can be No. They
- 25:35Speaker 2: want to be able to say like, no, what what
- 25:37Speaker 2: you did was really wrong and it really hurt me,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and I can't believe you did that, yeah, and not
- 25:42Speaker 2: just like being rolling over. Because they're a woman of
- 25:44Speaker 2: a certain age.
- 25:45Speaker 1: In America, and because I am from such a big
- 25:48Speaker 1: family on my mom's side of the family, we also
- 25:51Speaker 1: had to go through episodes like that we're at a wedding.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Someone told you that you look like a motherfucking temp
- 25:57Speaker 1: at the wedding, and then that guy told you that
- 26:00Speaker 1: it's a good thing. He wasn't from being your wife
- 26:02Speaker 1: because they need fucking starve because she's so ugly and
- 26:05Speaker 1: oh my.
- 26:05Speaker 2: God, I'm a dead true awesome housewives that's ready for housewives.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I know, make my family a TV show. But then
- 26:16Speaker 1: also just like hug one another at the end of
- 26:18Speaker 1: the night and be like, hey, I'll see you at
- 26:19Speaker 1: the kiddo's baptism next week because you're gonna have to
- 26:22Speaker 1: see one another at the next family event.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Well, and that's the thing, and like there is That's
- 26:28Speaker 2: the other part of it is that it's like is
- 26:31Speaker 2: then you see eventually there's times when there's not resolution,
- 26:34Speaker 2: when it's like, no, this has now gone too far
- 26:36Speaker 2: and I can't do this anymore.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 26:39Speaker 2: But it's again, I think it's it's conflicts resolution porn
- 26:41Speaker 2: because we don't know how to resolve conflicts or do them.
- 26:45Speaker 2: I don't think we do. I really as a society,
- 26:47Speaker 2: as in a society, we don't do anything until it's
- 26:49Speaker 2: time for us to then like jump on the hood
- 26:51Speaker 2: of someone's car and go crazy because we've lost.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Our minds, right, it has to be a snapped episode
- 26:56Speaker 1: or a future Netflix documentary or nothing.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Part of the reason why the housewives because when I
- 27:03Speaker 1: text you about them, I call them my aunties. I'm like,
- 27:05Speaker 1: we'll tell my auntie Durchha that I really loved this
- 27:10Speaker 1: because they feel so much like home. Because when you
- 27:14Speaker 1: are a part of a huge Croatian family, you are
- 27:17Speaker 1: always screaming at one another, and you're always screaming for
- 27:20Speaker 1: the spotlight or the attention, or you're all telling stories
- 27:23Speaker 1: in the round like a Greek chorus. So to me,
- 27:27Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, I may not have the
- 27:30Speaker 1: best skills in conflict resolution because sarcasm can get a
- 27:34Speaker 1: little toxic, or people aren't used to screaming or loud
- 27:38Speaker 1: people or loud women. But I did grow up with
- 27:41Speaker 1: a lot of female role models who will would tell
- 27:45Speaker 1: dudes either fucking step off of me right now because
- 27:49Speaker 1: it's about to get ugly, and it'll get ugly in
- 27:51Speaker 1: front of all of your friends. And I've been that
- 27:54Speaker 1: woman to be like, uh uh, think about what you
- 27:57Speaker 1: said before I embarrass you in front of all of
- 27:59Speaker 1: your brother and to be a person with that kind
- 28:03Speaker 1: of attitude. Walking in not Bravo land, you get a
- 28:07Speaker 1: lot of like deer in the headlights.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Or like whoa, like calm down, like oh my god, yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 2: like right, I'm sure right.
- 28:15Speaker 1: You're so irrational. And I'm like, well, this is why
- 28:18Speaker 1: they won't put me on the Bachelor, because could you
- 28:21Speaker 1: imagine I'd be that lady be like you guys don't
- 28:23Speaker 1: see the aliens in the sky. Yeah, and the housewives
- 28:31Speaker 1: do you give us? I love what you said about
- 28:34Speaker 1: their women living out loud because so much we get
- 28:37Speaker 1: the messaging of we'll just concealed, don't feel like, yeah,
- 28:42Speaker 1: write it in your diary when you get home and
- 28:44Speaker 1: scream into a pillow.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Well, and also, I mean there's a whole other factor
- 28:48Speaker 2: of two of like once you hit a certain age
- 28:51Speaker 2: and you have like men with wrinkles are hot, like
- 28:53Speaker 2: even most of our society would agree on that, whereas
- 28:56Speaker 2: women with wrinkles in America still are seen as old
- 29:00Speaker 2: and on a track day.
- 29:01Speaker 1: And I'll tell you and I've told you that this
- 29:04Speaker 1: is the most iconic thing about the New York housewise
- 29:07Speaker 1: is they would film into three o'clock, four o'clock in
- 29:10Speaker 1: the morning, clean faced in some sort of nighty mismatch
- 29:16Speaker 1: pagmo situation. Yeah, falling down because maybe they're drunk leu
- 29:22Speaker 1: Anne has fallen into countless shrubbery. And when's the last
- 29:28Speaker 1: time you saw a woman on television who was of
- 29:30Speaker 1: a certain age without makeup?
- 29:33Speaker 2: Yeah? You know what I mean. And that's the other
- 29:34Speaker 2: part too, is like there were times when I'd be
- 29:36Speaker 2: on those shows and I'd be like, all right, so
- 29:38Speaker 2: like just be like whatever, like you know, we're just
- 29:40Speaker 2: coming over for casual, and then they would be like
- 29:43Speaker 2: completely made up, and I was like, no, no, no, no, no,
- 29:45Speaker 2: Like you have like three pounds of like lip gloss on,
- 29:48Speaker 2: Like I need you to look you need to look
- 29:50Speaker 2: like you just woke like you're like waking up. Do
- 29:52Speaker 2: you know what I mean? This is it's like nine
- 29:54Speaker 2: am in the morning, and it should look like it's
- 29:56Speaker 2: not like I don't know why you woke up. It's
- 29:57Speaker 2: five am to get four hour hair and makeup. Like
- 30:00Speaker 2: I wanted you to just be grown out of your dad,
- 30:02Speaker 2: Like I want it to be real, you know what
- 30:03Speaker 2: I mean. That's the thing that everyone thinks that we
- 30:05Speaker 2: want to like script everything and make everything be fake,
- 30:07Speaker 2: and it's like no, I actually like am fighting with
- 30:09Speaker 2: people all the time to make it not scripted and
- 30:12Speaker 2: to make it be real and raw, do you know
- 30:14Speaker 2: what I mean? It's like that's what we strive for.
- 30:18Speaker 2: And so there were times when I would like there
- 30:20Speaker 2: be I would be on other shows and I would
- 30:22Speaker 2: be like, listen, I've worked on tests with the women
- 30:24Speaker 2: will get plastered or like they even if like they
- 30:27Speaker 2: were out all night and so they wake up in
- 30:29Speaker 2: the morning and they just don't even fix their hair
- 30:31Speaker 2: and they walked down stairs for breakfast and put a
- 30:33Speaker 2: mic on and eat breakfast and they look like they
- 30:35Speaker 2: put their hand in a light socket, do you know
- 30:37Speaker 2: what I mean? And like that, But that's what they
- 30:39Speaker 2: would do if they were on vacation. So that's what
- 30:40Speaker 2: it looks like.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And their head is pressed against the glass patio.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Like yeah, yes, do you know what I mean? Like that?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Like there's a like where do you see that ever
- 30:51Speaker 2: anywhere else?
- 30:53Speaker 1: Definitely not on the Bachelor. On a Bachelor, you have
- 30:55Speaker 1: to work until five o'clock in the morning and chuck
- 30:58Speaker 1: champagne and then wake up at a because you're you're like,
- 31:01Speaker 1: if I don't do my hair, he'll never pick.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Me, well, not even that, but like there we're not
- 31:06Speaker 2: even talking about the same people because it's like you
- 31:08Speaker 2: would never they would never be on the Bachelor because
- 31:11Speaker 2: they're like old hags, Like as far as society is concerned.
- 31:15Speaker 2: That's I think. The other thing is like women, these
- 31:17Speaker 2: women are like there is a pressure for them to
- 31:19Speaker 2: look good because they're on Housewives and they're gonna, you know,
- 31:21Speaker 2: they need to look good. But it's like a thing
- 31:23Speaker 2: where you're actually seeing women in a dress that ten
- 31:29Speaker 2: years ago would be inappropriate for them to wear because
- 31:31Speaker 2: of their age looking great, looking amazing, like being able
- 31:36Speaker 2: to like look really pretty and still be older and
- 31:39Speaker 2: that not being like look at this desperate cougar. Do
- 31:43Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like remember that? Remember, like
- 31:45Speaker 2: do we even use that term anymore? Remember when that
- 31:47Speaker 2: was a term? Like they were women that had were
- 31:50Speaker 2: in charge of their sexuality and wanted to be with
- 31:52Speaker 2: someone that was like not have a rechtop dysfunction because
- 31:56Speaker 2: they're the same age, like was branded as like us,
- 32:00Speaker 2: like basically.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Satan like a predator.
- 32:03Speaker 2: I think about that, Yes, a predator. That's a great yes,
- 32:05Speaker 2: think about that for a second. If we want to
- 32:07Speaker 2: really get into it.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I do think that Luiyan and Sonya should have their
- 32:11Speaker 1: own bachelor or Oldmaingum or perfect match type of I
- 32:15Speaker 1: think Bravover should do a perfect match situation with Louiyne
- 32:18Speaker 1: and Sonya at the at the head and they call
- 32:21Speaker 1: it like the Cougar Dead.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Well, back in the day, whenever Carol was like with
- 32:27Speaker 2: Adam and like where man got in a big fight,
- 32:30Speaker 2: lew An wanted to like do a show that was
- 32:32Speaker 2: She was like, I'm going to do a show, and
- 32:33Speaker 2: I wanted to be like, I'm going to match like
- 32:36Speaker 2: women up, like women my age up with like younger men,
- 32:38Speaker 2: and it's going to be called like the cougar matchup
- 32:40Speaker 2: or I don't remember what the tit, but like she
- 32:42Speaker 2: basically went to be like, oh, since I match up
- 32:44Speaker 2: Carol and Adam, I want to like match up like
- 32:46Speaker 2: women our age and then like twenty five year olds,
- 32:49Speaker 2: which I which again she could just do today. I
- 32:51Speaker 2: think it'd be great, And I like enough for nothing.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I like women. I like watching women in their fifties
- 32:57Speaker 2: going on a fucking date. I do too, because like
- 33:00Speaker 2: I think it's so interesting. It's like I want to
- 33:03Speaker 2: go back in time and slap my twenty four year
- 33:05Speaker 2: old self for everything I said on a first date.
- 33:08Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Like if you don't think that,
- 33:10Speaker 2: then you have a pro like you're there's something wrong
- 33:13Speaker 2: with you in my opinion.
- 33:14Speaker 1: M or just getting up and leaving it because the
- 33:17Speaker 1: first date is so bad, like calling it after fifteen
- 33:20Speaker 1: minutes to be like Okay, I gotta.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Go, like I actually have to leave by like I'm
- 33:25Speaker 2: I just got so busy, like I have to go.
- 33:28Speaker 2: But like these women, like imagine being fifty years old
- 33:31Speaker 2: and going on a first date and knowing exactly what
- 33:33Speaker 2: you wanted and like being and like and just if
- 33:35Speaker 2: you want to take someone for who they are, Yeah
- 33:38Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, No, it is so repre Maybe that's why I'm
- 33:42Speaker 1: really bad at dating because I've only watched the house
- 33:45Speaker 1: Whils do it and be like that's success. You just
- 33:48Speaker 1: go like this is baby, which.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Ps, it isn't because they never end up like staying
- 33:53Speaker 2: with anyone I know.
- 33:55Speaker 1: And I'm like wait and I'm like, yeah, you just
- 33:57Speaker 1: get like your cocktail and you're like, what do you
- 33:59Speaker 1: mean you don't like it that I have crystals? This
- 34:02Speaker 1: is who I am baby, and then you like are like,
- 34:05Speaker 1: I can't believe you didn't call me back.
- 34:09Speaker 2: And there and there's multiple things like to get into
- 34:12Speaker 2: kind of like the wish fulfillment of it all. Sorry,
- 34:15Speaker 2: am I like steering this and you're like yeah, And
- 34:18Speaker 2: to get into like the wish fulfillment of it all,
- 34:20Speaker 2: I mean the other thing that we want to I mean,
- 34:21Speaker 2: what else we want to say about, like their age
- 34:23Speaker 2: before we go into like keeping up at the Joneses.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I think we're pretty good on the age, So let's
- 34:28Speaker 1: go ahead and move into the wish fulfillment because there
- 34:30Speaker 1: is like there is a big capitalism part of that,
- 34:34Speaker 1: because it just seems in that everything. So we do
- 34:37Speaker 1: watch the housewives get to go on all of these
- 34:40Speaker 1: trips and buy and have someone go into their closet
- 34:44Speaker 1: and try on their very nice pantsuit, and then people
- 34:47Speaker 1: not go why that was a huge deal. Don't do that? Like, yeah,
- 34:53Speaker 1: do not just put on other people's clothes? Just I
- 34:56Speaker 1: don't it.
- 34:58Speaker 2: The wish fulfillment of it is also interesting because there's
- 35:01Speaker 2: like I.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Think that's something that's really interesting about the wish fulfillment
- 35:05Speaker 1: is that And again, I am very rational when it
- 35:11Speaker 1: comes to things like capitalism and the economy and the
- 35:14Speaker 1: idea that money is real. But what people so I
- 35:18Speaker 1: understand is that rich people also have this idea of
- 35:22Speaker 1: having to keep up with the Joneses and there it's
- 35:26Speaker 1: not that the households are competing with us to make
- 35:29Speaker 1: us believe that they're well off in fancy. They know
- 35:33Speaker 1: that we think that they're well off in fancy. They're
- 35:36Speaker 1: trying to do it with one another. And I think
- 35:38Speaker 1: that should be an equalizer because it's like, at the
- 35:41Speaker 1: end of the day, everyone does that no matter where
- 35:45Speaker 1: you are on the economical line, Like at some point
- 35:49Speaker 1: you are like, well, if they're getting that level of
- 35:53Speaker 1: seats at Stevie Nicks, I'm going three rows ahead because
- 35:56Speaker 1: I can like and taking photos to stunt.
- 36:00Speaker 2: It's there's a part of it where it's well. And
- 36:02Speaker 2: that's the thing that's really funny too, is I think
- 36:04Speaker 2: that like there is a big there's a very big
- 36:07Speaker 2: difference between people like housewives that have had money for
- 36:11Speaker 2: a long time and the housewives that have money now
- 36:13Speaker 2: because they're.
- 36:13Speaker 1: On the Housewives mm hmm.
- 36:14Speaker 2: And like in just reality starts just people in general,
- 36:17Speaker 2: people with like like old money and new money, is real,
- 36:19Speaker 2: like it really is. Yeah, and being able to see
- 36:22Speaker 2: some people that are like really like, oh, I grew
- 36:25Speaker 2: up with this money. It's very like different from the
- 36:27Speaker 2: people that are then like label label label label label
- 36:30Speaker 2: label label label label label label, label label, and it's
- 36:36Speaker 2: very oh I remember what I wanted to say. And
- 36:38Speaker 2: it's it's very interesting because so many people that like
- 36:45Speaker 2: a lot of the the again, the older women that
- 36:47Speaker 2: I've worked with and reality television, You'll be going through
- 36:49Speaker 2: their closets and they're like, oh, here's this, Like here's
- 36:52Speaker 2: this like Poocy dress that I have from like you
- 36:56Speaker 2: weren't even alive yet when this. I bought this, and
- 36:58Speaker 2: I was like and I'm like this is stunning and
- 37:00Speaker 2: beautiful and they're like, yeah, it's just bo whatever, you
- 37:03Speaker 2: know what I mean. And you're like that you can't
- 37:05Speaker 2: buy do you know what I mean to be like,
- 37:07Speaker 2: I've owned this my whole life and it's like vintage
- 37:09Speaker 2: and real and like you've never you know what I mean,
- 37:12Speaker 2: Like you've never like it wasn't you couldn't buy the
- 37:14Speaker 2: snaff you tried, Like that kind of shit is like
- 37:17Speaker 2: the real flex, which I love.
- 37:19Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there when You're like that should be
- 37:21Speaker 1: in a museum. Yes, still need it to something.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Yes. And the one thing that I will say is that,
- 37:27Speaker 2: like a few things that I have learned from the housewives.
- 37:30Speaker 2: One time when Durana it was one of the it
- 37:32Speaker 2: was one of the gallery shoots, which is like basically
- 37:35Speaker 2: whenever they turn around in their name and you see
- 37:37Speaker 2: their name, like the like Quita said, the thing is
- 37:40Speaker 2: like the most spoofed of all the housewives whatever. It's
- 37:42Speaker 2: like it'd be like Natalie and you'd be like you
- 37:44Speaker 2: spinning around and like looking into the camera and smiling.
- 37:46Speaker 2: We were doing those shoots and it's like a green
- 37:47Speaker 2: screen and there's like a lot of like hair and
- 37:49Speaker 2: makeup and the dresses need to be approved, and it's
- 37:51Speaker 2: like it's a big it is like more intensive, just
- 37:53Speaker 2: like an interview where we're just like whear whatever and
- 37:55Speaker 2: like we like this okay. And so we were doing
- 37:59Speaker 2: that in some one walked in and she I think
- 38:01Speaker 2: it was Dirinda if I remember this correctly, Dirinda walked
- 38:04Speaker 2: in and they went and like someone was like, oh
- 38:08Speaker 2: my god, Durnda, this is so beautiful, like look at
- 38:10Speaker 2: this jewelry, and she's like, oh yeah, this is like
- 38:12Speaker 2: my old like I brought I actually brought out like
- 38:14Speaker 2: my real diamonds, like ah, and then they were like
- 38:16Speaker 2: oh my god, like I would kill to like have this,
- 38:19Speaker 2: and and Durinda looked at the person it was like
- 38:21Speaker 2: we all go to bed naked, like you know what
- 38:24Speaker 2: I mean? And she just like it like kind of
- 38:26Speaker 2: like yes, it's all great and yes this is beautiful,
- 38:28Speaker 2: but like a thing where it's like this doesn't make
- 38:30Speaker 2: me any better than you because I have like an
- 38:31Speaker 2: afford diamonds or not, do you know what I mean,
- 38:33Speaker 2: like like like it all comes out or something. It
- 38:36Speaker 2: was I think it was we all go to bed naked,
- 38:38Speaker 2: do you know what I mean. It was like like yes,
- 38:39Speaker 2: it's all closed, and yes I have the money to
- 38:41Speaker 2: do this, but like I'm still a person, just like
- 38:43Speaker 2: you are a person.
- 38:44Speaker 1: And like, well, oh my gosh, I do love Diorinda.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Like that makes me all warm and doing and being
- 38:50Speaker 1: like see, I knew Diorinda had a good soul. But
- 38:54Speaker 1: it also does make me think of a recent New
- 38:56Speaker 1: York saye because I walked, because there are people who
- 39:01Speaker 1: really do care about the status of it all, yes,
- 39:04Speaker 1: and that never loves to come out more than when
- 39:07Speaker 1: they have to pick rooms and the Airbnb for the
- 39:10Speaker 1: trip and ps.
- 39:13Speaker 2: If you're worried about status and that kind of thing,
- 39:16Speaker 2: it's because you don't.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Have any mm hmm. So so all I could think
- 39:21Speaker 1: about is that Carol and Bethanie came up with a
- 39:24Speaker 1: will we'll draft. We're all going to pick a number
- 39:27Speaker 1: and we'll number one gets to pick first, number two
- 39:31Speaker 1: get and it's the ultimate equalizer. We're taking out all
- 39:34Speaker 1: of the bullshit. And they all agree to do it,
- 39:38Speaker 1: and then the moment that someone gets number seven, they're like,
- 39:40Speaker 1: fuck this, I'm gonna get the worst room with no view,
- 39:45Speaker 1: with no staff insight and I need my sleepy time tea.
- 39:50Speaker 2: And guess what. Like the rooms, like we work them
- 39:54Speaker 2: to the bone, like the roof. That's something it's so funny,
- 39:57Speaker 2: is like the room that they're never in their room,
- 39:58Speaker 2: I know, and like but like it's I mean, it
- 40:01Speaker 2: is the thing where it's like how are we going
- 40:02Speaker 2: to pick them? That's always a question, Like we always
- 40:05Speaker 2: discuss it, like how do you pick the rooms? Like
- 40:08Speaker 2: it's always like a thing that like because it needs
- 40:11Speaker 2: to be clean, like it can't be like we assign
- 40:13Speaker 2: them rooms like do you know what I mean? It
- 40:15Speaker 2: needs to be and it could.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Be six hours of the trip because some of them
- 40:19Speaker 1: will argue that point to add nauseum. And it happens
- 40:24Speaker 1: every year on Summerhouse too, they run the same goddamn
- 40:26Speaker 1: house and they're like, I want the top floor room now.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Well in their show, I feel like they live in
- 40:33Speaker 2: those rooms so much more and they're there for like weeks,
- 40:37Speaker 2: so I think that's like way more. But like it is,
- 40:40Speaker 2: there is this thing of keeping up with the Joneses.
- 40:42Speaker 2: But then there is something where like I don't know
- 40:46Speaker 2: and I've been doing this in my own personal wardrobe
- 40:49Speaker 2: is like not chasing the trends anymore. Like no, I've
- 40:53Speaker 2: always had like a whether it has changed or not.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I feel that I've always had a very strong conviction
- 41:00Speaker 2: when it comes to my own personal style, like when
- 41:03Speaker 2: I like something, I like it, and when I don't,
- 41:05Speaker 2: I don't And I know what I like and I
- 41:06Speaker 2: know when I don't like. But really trying to go
- 41:09Speaker 2: from being like I need to have like a new thing,
- 41:11Speaker 2: or I need to be able to takeing tags off something,
- 41:13Speaker 2: or I need to be like everyone's wearing this, so
- 41:16Speaker 2: I need to be wearing this. I've like so rejected
- 41:19Speaker 2: that and like divorced it completely and have just started
- 41:24Speaker 2: wearing what I want to wear. I love that, and
- 41:30Speaker 2: that like will always keep you from having to like
- 41:32Speaker 2: be keeping up with the Joneses, because like me, like
- 41:35Speaker 2: one time I was working in an office in Brooklyn
- 41:39Speaker 2: and it was I was working on shows and one
- 41:43Speaker 2: of the editors was like I was like getting my
- 41:45Speaker 2: launch out of like the fridge or something. I don't know.
- 41:46Speaker 2: I was like in the kitchen for some reason, back
- 41:49Speaker 2: when we all worked in offices and like literally that
- 41:53Speaker 2: like far off away fever dream that we don't do anymore.
- 41:58Speaker 2: I remember an editor coming to me and she was like,
- 42:01Speaker 2: I just need to tell you that you have like
- 42:02Speaker 2: such a unique personal style and like I've never seen
- 42:05Speaker 2: anyone dress the way that you do, and like it's
- 42:09Speaker 2: just very interesting and like I really like it. And
- 42:11Speaker 2: I was like, absolute, it's the nicest thing anyone has
- 42:13Speaker 2: ever said to me, you know what I mean. I
- 42:14Speaker 2: was like ex floored and was like I don't need
- 42:16Speaker 2: to like work anymore today, Like buy, I'm leaving, Like
- 42:18Speaker 2: this is like amazing, Like I'm so much better than
- 42:20Speaker 2: every single person year because this person just said this
- 42:23Speaker 2: to me. But like that being said, it was like
- 42:24Speaker 2: one of those things where I was like, oh, this
- 42:26Speaker 2: is like, like that feels great, versus being like I
- 42:30Speaker 2: spent two thousand dollars on this outfit, Like can't you
- 42:33Speaker 2: tell by the fact that it says Burberry all over it?
- 42:36Speaker 2: Like or that there's Fendy F's upside down and forward
- 42:39Speaker 2: like everywhere? You know what I mean?
- 42:41Speaker 1: Yes? No, because if I could live every day in
- 42:46Speaker 1: a costume that reflected what I was doing that day.
- 42:49Speaker 1: I love themed outfits. So this being the summer of
- 42:53Speaker 1: like Eras tour outfits and the Barbie movie outfits and
- 42:57Speaker 1: us getting to just like dress up and real time.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'm like, I've been doing this for years and people
- 43:02Speaker 1: have been making fun of me, and now women are
- 43:05Speaker 1: stapping me on the streets to be like, you look
- 43:07Speaker 1: just like Barbie. You look fucking perfect. And I'm like,
- 43:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna put it in my calendar and Google's gonna
- 43:12Speaker 1: remind me once a year that I'm better than everybody.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Well that way, do you know that this is really
- 43:18Speaker 2: embarrassing thing? And you can leave it in But I
- 43:20Speaker 2: have a folder on my computer that is screenshots of
- 43:23Speaker 2: really nice texts that people have sent me or like emails,
- 43:26Speaker 2: and then I just keep it and sometimes that I
- 43:27Speaker 2: need to pick me up. I look at them.
- 43:29Speaker 1: We all do that.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I was just the Beyonce concert. Yeah, she ran, and
- 43:36Speaker 2: I was thinking about this while I was getting ready,
- 43:38Speaker 2: and I was thinking, like, whereas everyone is like buying
- 43:41Speaker 2: new things and I need to have an off that
- 43:43Speaker 2: I need to do this, And I was like, no,
- 43:44Speaker 2: I'm not doing this. I am not buying a shirt.
- 43:47Speaker 2: I'm not buying something just to wear to a concert
- 43:50Speaker 2: that I'm probably never gonna wear ever again, do you
- 43:53Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like, I was like, I'm not
- 43:54Speaker 2: doing this anymore. I was like, I have my own clothing.
- 43:56Speaker 2: I wore everything I already had in my closet. I
- 43:58Speaker 2: like wore what I wore, and there's something about it
- 44:01Speaker 2: that was so liberating of not being any same thing
- 44:03Speaker 2: for the Barbie movie. We went to the Barbie movie
- 44:05Speaker 2: for my friends like bachelorette party. Basically she got eloped.
- 44:08Speaker 2: So it was like a wife flarette, which I don't
- 44:10Speaker 2: think is a real thing, but like she bought it,
- 44:12Speaker 2: but like it was measure like her bachelrett party we
- 44:14Speaker 2: went to see the Barbie movie and everyone dressed in
- 44:15Speaker 2: pink about me because I don't have anything that's pink,
- 44:17Speaker 2: And I was like, I'm not buying a pink T
- 44:19Speaker 2: shirt just to go to this movie. I'm gonna wear
- 44:21Speaker 2: the clothes. I wore a Spice Girl's T shirt. If
- 44:23Speaker 2: that's not acceptable, I don't know what is. But like
- 44:27Speaker 2: I wore everything I already owned and was like, this
- 44:31Speaker 2: is my version of what I'm wearing to Barbie. So
- 44:33Speaker 2: like everyone can fuck off, and I'm not gonna like
- 44:37Speaker 2: wear the new like I'm not buying something from Sheen
- 44:40Speaker 2: or like fucking like whatever the fuck else Aesos or
- 44:43Speaker 2: like all the you know what I mean. I'm not
- 44:45Speaker 2: buying like a piece of clothing that will light on
- 44:48Speaker 2: fire in point five seconds if I look at a
- 44:49Speaker 2: flame to like wear one time to the Barbie movie
- 44:53Speaker 2: and then throw in the garbage. I'm not doing it.
- 44:55Speaker 1: And I was the first person to tell you. But
- 44:57Speaker 1: your CAUs plain is Ken. You already look like Ken
- 45:00Speaker 1: in the movie. Yes you will be so surprised. Yes,
- 45:04Speaker 1: but you did put dress up for the movie. You
- 45:07Speaker 1: just didn't think you were. And I do think that
- 45:11Speaker 1: our fascination with fast fashion and looking good for things
- 45:16Speaker 1: that I bought into this summer, even though I knew
- 45:20Speaker 1: if I actually took the fifteen minutes to look through
- 45:22Speaker 1: my closet, I'd have the perfect tailor swift. Yeah, I'd
- 45:25Speaker 1: have the perfect tailor swift outfit. But I want a
- 45:28Speaker 1: reason to feel.
- 45:30Speaker 2: When celebrities screw up? Are you the person who immediately
- 45:33Speaker 2: text your friends about it?
- 45:34Speaker 4: Does your family routinely rewind TV shows because you scream
- 45:37Speaker 4: irrationally loud at missing blot points?
- 45:40Speaker 2: Are you genuinely mad at ariana Grande for dating married men,
- 45:43Speaker 2: but not mad enough to change your plan to take
- 45:45Speaker 2: off from work the day wicket comes out?
- 45:47Speaker 4: If you answered yes to any of these.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Questions, or are even friends with someone who would?

- 46:31Speaker 2: And you know, the other thing is like is I know,
- 46:34Speaker 2: I know we're like jumping all over the place, but
- 46:36Speaker 2: like even like taking care of your and this is
- 46:38Speaker 2: like not about housemars, you're not, but like taking care
- 46:40Speaker 2: of your clothing and not in buying something that and
- 46:44Speaker 2: I know that this is like what every person says
- 46:45Speaker 2: and everyone's like shut up, but like buying a T
- 46:48Speaker 2: shirt that's not doesn't feel like sandpaper and being like, oh,
- 46:52Speaker 2: this was like fifteen dollars more, but it actually is
- 46:54Speaker 2: made out of cotton and not like chemicals and like
- 46:59Speaker 2: a look, I feel like like this is like from
- 47:01Speaker 2: I think richer and poorer whatever that brand ism, and
- 47:04Speaker 2: like this is a teacher that I'm feeling and that's
- 47:06Speaker 2: something about me my birthday. But it's like this is
- 47:08Speaker 2: like a quality made garment that I will have for
- 47:11Speaker 2: like a long time.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 47:14Speaker 2: And so it's like like actually not having to keep
- 47:17Speaker 2: up with the Jones. This is also like not having
- 47:19Speaker 2: to like redo your wardrobe every two years, do you
- 47:21Speaker 2: know what I mean? And like just having things that
- 47:22Speaker 2: are said, because there's nothing chicer than being like someone
- 47:25Speaker 2: being like, oh my god, like what this is beautiful?
- 47:28Speaker 2: Where did you get this? And then being like, oh,
- 47:31Speaker 2: this is from like fifteen years ago. I hate that
- 47:35Speaker 2: to me is like beautiful. Like I'm like like, oh,
- 47:37Speaker 2: I like, oh yeah, i bought this on sale. It
- 47:39Speaker 2: was the last one and it's from like four years ago,
- 47:42Speaker 2: and I've like just kept it in really good condition.
- 47:44Speaker 2: That's like porn to me, and.
- 47:48Speaker 1: I do believe that. And again, if I had just
- 47:50Speaker 1: spent fifteen minutes in my because you know what, I
- 47:53Speaker 1: won't buy new outputs for it anymore. Is weddings because
- 47:57Speaker 1: I'm like I hate, Oh, I hate being at a wedding.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Why I use? I refuse? I wore are you oh
- 48:04Speaker 2: you're gonna die? I think you know this. I wore
- 48:07Speaker 2: Richard as in Richard Medley's like suit to a wedding
- 48:13Speaker 2: in Italy that Derinda gave.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Me because she has a good soul, because she was
- 48:19Speaker 1: like I'm gonna get rid of all these post do
- 48:20Speaker 1: you want them?
- 48:20Speaker 2: And I literally looked at one thing and it was
- 48:22Speaker 2: like an extremely expensive, like cashmir blazer, and I was like,
- 48:26Speaker 2: a hundred percent, I do, but like it's not like
- 48:31Speaker 2: I wore a suit that like is from twenty years ago,
- 48:34Speaker 2: and I didn't care because I was like, I'd rather
- 48:36Speaker 2: just do this enough a go toa Zara again and
- 48:38Speaker 2: buy a super three hundred dollars yeah, that I'm not
- 48:41Speaker 2: going to fit into soon.
- 48:43Speaker 1: The thing about weddings is I usually have to travel
- 48:46Speaker 1: for weddings because I don't live anywhere near my family,
- 48:49Speaker 1: and so I'm like, okay, you have to pack I
- 48:53Speaker 1: guess five dresses because who know, you know, I'm a
- 48:56Speaker 1: lady with hormones. Who knows what my body will look
- 48:59Speaker 1: like the of the wedding. Also like, yeah, I can't
- 49:04Speaker 1: afford to just buy five ready made wedding attire dresses
- 49:10Speaker 1: every time one of my cousins find someone to marry them.
- 49:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, but I need six because.
- 49:18Speaker 2: And there's and guess what, there's nothing wrong with like
- 49:21Speaker 2: restyling something and it being like you know what I mean,
- 49:25Speaker 2: wear like a shawl over it have a little like
- 49:27Speaker 2: something like have like a not a cardigan, but like
- 49:30Speaker 2: you know what I mean, even if it's like a sheer,
- 49:32Speaker 2: little like buy a little sheer, you know what I'm saying,
- 49:35Speaker 2: Like a little cardigan, not a shawl. Who wears like
- 49:37Speaker 2: a shawl anymore, but like a little cardigan or something
- 49:39Speaker 2: that's like over, like as if you would wear like
- 49:41Speaker 2: with a maxie dress, like a jean jacket over a
- 49:42Speaker 2: maxi dress like whatever that is informal wear, like wear
- 49:45Speaker 2: something like that to a cape, yes, though, but like
- 49:49Speaker 2: for real, yeah, like wear something over, like like be
- 49:54Speaker 2: use something to make a variation on this dress that
- 49:57Speaker 2: you've wornt to seven weddings. Like I have this burgundy
- 50:00Speaker 2: suit from Zara that should not still be in good
- 50:02Speaker 2: condition but is because I've worn it. I've worn it, Hassani,
- 50:05Speaker 2: We've worn it out. We've worn it to like a
- 50:07Speaker 2: minimum ten different events, and like it was only like
- 50:11Speaker 2: a two hundred some dollars Zara suit. It wasn't any
- 50:13Speaker 2: but the randomly the quality was really good. You know
- 50:15Speaker 2: when sometimes they're like let's like make this for real
- 50:17Speaker 2: and make it look nice, Like wow, really, I've worn
- 50:21Speaker 2: that suit so many times, and I've just changed the
- 50:23Speaker 2: way that I've styled it, changed the shirt underneath, worn
- 50:25Speaker 2: the suit, jack of with different pants, like and it's
- 50:27Speaker 2: really that thing of like I've taken that. It's like
- 50:29Speaker 2: the sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Like Yes, I've like
- 50:31Speaker 2: taken that suit and worn it to like seventeen different things.
- 50:34Speaker 2: And I've saved if I would have had this spent
- 50:36Speaker 2: let's just say conservatively two hundred and fifty dollars. What's
- 50:40Speaker 2: what's that times nine? You know what I mean, I've
- 50:43Speaker 2: saved like thousands of dollars. No, but the thing of
- 50:46Speaker 2: like the keeping up, like the wishful filment of it
- 50:48Speaker 2: all is great, But it's that thing where and it
- 50:51Speaker 2: I'm like all over the place systems. He's just say sorry.
- 50:54Speaker 2: The wishful filment of it is very interesting too, though,
- 50:56Speaker 2: because there is a world where you do get to
- 51:00Speaker 2: see that like, oh, even if I had like forty
- 51:03Speaker 2: million dollars, like I would still have the exact same problems.
- 51:06Speaker 2: Yeah I have right now.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Well, al Rinthia and I talked about that for the
- 51:11Speaker 1: Writer's Strike episode, where it's like people just assume that
- 51:16Speaker 1: because I am TV adjacent. I'm like living some very
- 51:21Speaker 1: like yeah to the Kay to the Hill. All of
- 51:24Speaker 1: my student debt is gone. I'm eating caviar every night.
- 51:28Speaker 1: And I don't know if it's just like my little
- 51:31Speaker 1: spicy neurodivergent in my brain. But when I was watching
- 51:36Speaker 1: Housewives or the bat well, when I was watching The Bachelor,
- 51:39Speaker 1: my head did tell me you are not the girl
- 51:41Speaker 1: that gets to be on the Bachelor, because I was
- 51:43Speaker 1: overweight and I was loud, and I was funny. They're
- 51:47Speaker 1: so mean to funny women in that franky They're so
- 51:52Speaker 1: mean to funny Yeah, And so I did realistically know, like,
- 51:58Speaker 1: you are not the girl who gets to be the badrette.
- 52:01Speaker 1: No one wants to. I still say that I should
- 52:03Speaker 1: be the first fat bachelorette one hunt would.
- 52:07Speaker 2: I would desperately want you to be it. But however,
- 52:10Speaker 2: I know that.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Like they'd be so mean to me.
- 52:12Speaker 2: No, but like no one else would, like the internet,
- 52:15Speaker 2: would you would have to disappear afterwards? I would.
- 52:20Speaker 1: I would have to, which I think is why Netflix
- 52:23Speaker 1: is my bread and butter, because what Netflix does, like
- 52:26Speaker 1: the Housewives, is it's an ensemble and not just one
- 52:29Speaker 1: person on a journey. And I think that's the only
- 52:33Speaker 1: way shit like that works. Yeah, but when I was
- 52:37Speaker 1: walking in the Housewives, I never then looked around my
- 52:41Speaker 1: dorm room or my one bedroom apartment or the home
- 52:44Speaker 1: I grew up with in my family, and it went,
- 52:47Speaker 1: what a fucking dumb And I feel like we're very
- 52:52Speaker 1: much in this age of television where everyone wants to
- 52:56Speaker 1: scream if the TV has made them feel bad, and
- 52:59Speaker 1: I'm like, well, sometimes movies are supposed to make you
- 53:03Speaker 1: feel bad, like sometimes that is what we're doing, and
- 53:08Speaker 1: like it's not their.
- 53:10Speaker 2: Fucking fault that you don't have a good job, like
- 53:12Speaker 2: you know what I mean. It's like, what did they do?
- 53:13Speaker 2: Do you?
- 53:14Speaker 4: Like?
- 53:14Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And yes, that's not like
- 53:16Speaker 2: it's not it's maybe society's fault, but it's like, not
- 53:20Speaker 2: this person's fault that you don't have. I don't know.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Also turn it off? Yeah, and I think too. It's
- 53:25Speaker 2: like even like there's the only show that I feel
- 53:27Speaker 2: like I've watched where it's like not relatable at all anymore.
- 53:30Speaker 2: It's like the Kardashians now, which is why I feel
- 53:33Speaker 2: I feel like I like it again in a small doses,
- 53:35Speaker 2: as like them being so rich and powerful that it's
- 53:38Speaker 2: like it's like that now, it's like fantasy, which I love,
- 53:43Speaker 2: but like not for nothing. It's like, yeah, you could
- 53:45Speaker 2: have a really nice apartment, but then again, you're always
- 53:47Speaker 2: worried about like your taxes and the this and the
- 53:51Speaker 2: shares and the you know what I mean. It's like
- 53:53Speaker 2: it's not we think it gets ea, if I just
- 53:55Speaker 2: had this much more money, it would be easier, but
- 53:57Speaker 2: it's like there's a threshold where it then gets so
- 54:00Speaker 2: much harder because you have so much more to manage.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think this is why I want you
- 54:05Speaker 1: to come on still Comfy for Drop Dead Gorgeous, because
- 54:07Speaker 1: I'm terrified of doing that movie. And it's my favorite
- 54:10Speaker 1: movie because.
- 54:11Speaker 2: I know every single words of the entire movie.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Me too, and I can do it in Christy Ally's accent.
- 54:16Speaker 1: But may she rest in wherever the scientologists go when
- 54:21Speaker 1: they're gone.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm clear like, may she rest in Zeno,
- 54:24Speaker 2: rest in Zenil.
- 54:26Speaker 1: But I and I've said this out loud, I'm like,
- 54:30Speaker 1: we can't watch my favorite movie anymore. I go, there
- 54:33Speaker 1: can no longer be public screenings of Drop Dead Gorgeous.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Oh no, it's terrible.
- 54:39Speaker 1: It's terrible, but it's also such good satire and so
- 54:43Speaker 1: offensive that people won't get it. Yes, and I think
- 54:48Speaker 1: we're like with the housewives and reality TV we have
- 54:52Speaker 1: And I am the biggest like at fault of this
- 54:57Speaker 1: of having parasocial relationships with people who are in the
- 55:01Speaker 1: media that I admire. I would push someone in front
- 55:06Speaker 1: of the bus if they were mean to one of
- 55:09Speaker 1: the critical role women and I caught them at a con,
- 55:12Speaker 1: I'd be like, oh, you die today, and just shove
- 55:14Speaker 1: them in front of a bus because that's my job
- 55:16Speaker 1: as their friend, their friend that they don't know about.
- 55:19Speaker 2: And well, it's funny you bring that up, because it's
- 55:22Speaker 2: like that is another part of it is like we've
- 55:25Speaker 2: gone so far where it's like we want to be
- 55:26Speaker 2: them so badly that we think that they're our best friend,
- 55:29Speaker 2: and it's like that's also not what this is.
- 55:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and I and I mean I just admitted on
- 55:37Speaker 1: my own show that I called the housewives of my aunties.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I'm like, look at my aunties having a great time
- 55:41Speaker 1: on vacation, which they would have invited me. But I
- 55:45Speaker 1: think when we've taken it a pair of social relationships
- 55:49Speaker 1: with like influencers and people who are making like in
- 55:52Speaker 1: real time content and podcasters and also have been like
- 55:56Speaker 1: so that means I should also be mad at the
- 56:00Speaker 1: Disney princess who pissed me off. And I'm like, no,
- 56:02Speaker 1: Cinderella is not your friends, no, like, and there's so
- 56:08Speaker 1: many I don't know.
- 56:09Speaker 2: It's just like, so we could sit here and like
- 56:14Speaker 2: unpack everything and like be mad about everything and do
- 56:17Speaker 2: this and do that and like blame everyone else for
- 56:20Speaker 2: every reason that we're like not okay, or we could
- 56:22Speaker 2: just like do better and like try to get I
- 56:24Speaker 2: don't know. I know that's like such an oversimplification for everything,
- 56:28Speaker 2: but it's like it's not any TV show's fault that
- 56:31Speaker 2: you like don't feel good about yourself. Yeah.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I had a fucking melt down when Taylor Swift was
- 56:37Speaker 1: dating Maddy Healy right before I was going to a
- 56:39Speaker 1: fucking concert because I had planned a lot of marketing
- 56:43Speaker 1: for this show surrounding Taylor Swift, and I was like,
- 56:46Speaker 1: why would you do me like this?
- 56:48Speaker 2: Yes, And it's like that's not her problem, it's not
- 56:52Speaker 2: her problem.
- 56:53Speaker 1: It's not her problem that I was like, I'm gonna
- 56:55Speaker 1: use Instagram photos of me at her concert to sell
- 56:59Speaker 1: my own shit, it's probably me taking advantage of her.
- 57:03Speaker 1: But then at the end of the day, I was like, well,
- 57:05Speaker 1: I guess if Taylor Swift can get had by an
- 57:09Speaker 1: ugly man who has bad opinions and an even worse attitude,
- 57:15Speaker 1: then I won't feel as bad about it the next
- 57:18Speaker 1: time I date a man that I don't secret that
- 57:22Speaker 1: I don't know is secretly homophobic.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Did I what did I just say? They have the
- 57:26Speaker 2: same problems as us.
- 57:28Speaker 1: They have the same problem but as us have I
- 57:31Speaker 1: been at a drag brunch in my youth where all
- 57:34Speaker 1: of a sudden I'm having a really good time and
- 57:37Speaker 1: a straight man has stormed off in a fury because
- 57:40Speaker 1: he didn't know how gay drag was gonna get yes,
- 57:44Speaker 1: and then I and then you have to go, wait,
- 57:46Speaker 1: it's my friend homophobic who bought the homophobe? Oh that
- 57:49Speaker 1: was me.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I mean, Taylor Sus has never gotten. She's never not
- 57:53Speaker 2: been gotten by a man. Yet we've heard it time
- 57:56Speaker 2: and time again. Not to like invoke hate against the
- 57:59Speaker 2: Queen Swifty, But like you know, she can't get she
- 58:03Speaker 2: can't get it right. Why does that? Why should any
- 58:05Speaker 2: of us get it right?
- 58:06Speaker 1: Right? Also, that's why I like her. That's why I
- 58:08Speaker 1: cry every time I read one of her songs because
- 58:11Speaker 1: I'm like, I also got through this, and I also.
- 58:14Speaker 2: Really, you really do relate, relate to it. It really
- 58:17Speaker 2: is related. And so that's the other thing is that
- 58:20Speaker 2: these women don't stop, like they don't stop moving like
- 58:24Speaker 2: so much other Like I was filming with someone recently
- 58:28Speaker 2: and was like, I need you to not in the
- 58:30Speaker 2: middle of a sentence, walk into another room to go
- 58:33Speaker 2: look for like god knows what in what drawer where
- 58:36Speaker 2: I was like, I need you to stand here and
- 58:37Speaker 2: look me in the eye and I need to have
- 58:39Speaker 2: a conversation with you for forty five seconds. And the
- 58:44Speaker 2: person was like, I can't do that, and then walked
- 58:47Speaker 2: out of the room and was like looking for like
- 58:49Speaker 2: god knowess what. Like it like they don't quit, you
- 58:52Speaker 2: know what I mean. And that's the other thing is
- 58:54Speaker 2: that it's like you could be just like them. And
- 58:56Speaker 2: now I sound like Kim Kardashian when she's like, get
- 58:58Speaker 2: off your fucking ass, and but like the reason they
- 59:01Speaker 2: are who they are is because they never fucking stop. Yeah,
- 59:04Speaker 2: and they're relentless and they know it.
- 59:08Speaker 1: And I told you that My favorite part of the
- 59:10Speaker 1: Ultimate Girls sort of promo was when Vicky started screaming
- 59:14Speaker 1: that she could be working and everyone was wasting her time.
- 59:18Speaker 1: And I was like, Vicky, you're on vacation.
- 59:21Speaker 2: Yeah I could work.
- 59:23Speaker 1: I could be at work. I could I could have
- 59:28Speaker 1: been working. And I was like, you can say that
- 59:29Speaker 1: for thirty years.
- 59:34Speaker 2: She'll never retire.
- 59:35Speaker 1: No, I know, because what was she dropped it?
- 59:37Speaker 2: Well? Would she? But that's what and not for that? Hey,
- 59:40Speaker 2: not for nothing, Like props to a woman that is
- 59:45Speaker 2: bonded to her job that isn't seen as like a mom,
- 59:49Speaker 2: just like a mom and a housewife. But it's like,
- 59:51Speaker 2: when you think of Vicky, what do you think of
- 59:53Speaker 2: other than whooping it up? You think of Codo Insurance?
- 59:56Speaker 1: Yeah, you think of her screaming at people? Why would
- 59:59Speaker 1: you lease spice time? I could have sent an email?
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Yeah, like I think of like when I think of
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: her other than whooping it up, and like the actual
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: things that I like, actually really like. I filmed with her,
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: so I know I have spoken to her. But like
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: when I think of her as like a TV person,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: I think of her whooping it up at Andolais And
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: then I think of her at Codo insurance, like typing
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: on that keyboard like all these years ago.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Yeah, And when I think of lou Ayne, I think,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: just be cool, don't be not cool.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: I was in the room for that, you know that?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Oh no, I don't.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: I was there for that.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: And I think Louianne was so secure in herself and
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: the brand that she had built that she left a
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: fucking title behind. She was a countess and she's like,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: fuck your ass, I'll divorce you. Is Kate Middleton ever
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: going to do that?
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Hell?
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Now?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Is Meggie Merkle ever going to do that?
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: No? No, allegedly.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: It's like I know, I know they're on the rack.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I mean we were in the time machine, right, Like
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: this is like got to come out in a million years.
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: It didn't come Yeah, they're on the racks. Whatever.
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: But I'm trying to think of what else, So, like,
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: is there anything else I want to say about this
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: kind of stuff?
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Honestly, I'm really mad that you and I don't just
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: have friendly phone calls at once a week.
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we're both so busy, but like what if we
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: just were like, do you have fifteen minutes? Yeah?
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: And there's and there's like and I don't want to
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: be like the person comes on and is like defending
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: reality TV in there that's like amazing and nothing is
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: bad about it. Like, there's many people that are like
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: that have been very affected by it. And there are
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: shows the Batchelor that have not needing to but have
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: wielded power against people and really done harm. Yeah, Like,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: I like, I agree that that exists. So I don't
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: want people to think that I'm like defending my you
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: know what I mean. In every industry there's something, there's
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: bad things and good things. I think that we need
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: to remember that this is a television show.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I think, well number one, like you can go
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: an I always say it like this. I was like,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: every action that you put out into the world has
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: the opportunity to do harm. It just depends on who
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: catches it and how they're affected by it. So to
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: expect people to be in the limelight, or people to
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: be public figures, or people to be musicians, oscar winners, whatever,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: to never do a look of harm, why would you
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: want that expectation on you. I was a teacher. I
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: did harm, and I was a good teacher. Yeah, and
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I watched bad teachers do a lot of harm and
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: then went to the proper authorities to be like, Hi,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: here's a video on my phone or just something, maybe
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: you'd like to look at it, and then tell me
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: to mind my business like.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: It's it's I think. The other thing too, is like
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: it's it's meant for entertainment. But also and also too,
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: like a lot of the women go through things, and
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: these women will write to them, like so many house
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: iives have been like, oh, I talked about my you know, infertility,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Like I don't want to say the word journey. I
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: can't do a journey about anythink anyone. I hate it.
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: I my struggles with infertility. And they were flooded the
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: dms of like, thank you for talking about this is
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: exactly what I went through, blah blah blah. Like there
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: is a world in which we do relate to these people,
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: and there is good that comes from shedding light on
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: issues that women have. But like, I, as a man,
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: have no idea what it's like to go through infertility struggles.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Do you know what I'm saying? But it's like I
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: then learned something because I'm listening to the listening to
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: the story that a woman is telling me. How many
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: men can say that the effort to that.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: Effort, How often do infertility experiences experiences going through adoption
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: or fertility in general not wanting children? Pregnancy Breast cancer
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: has also been something that's happened in the Zyghost of
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: the Housewives. We get very sweet like storylines or very
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: gut wrenching storylines of those you very rarely get representation
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: of No, this is what the day to day looks
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: like for that, And I think that that's important too,
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: because it's another way the female stories get told.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: It's also this is the other thing too, is that
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: I feel that like anymore, we want like everything now,
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: like we wan want it to be like no, we
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: need to see exactly the fight of the two people
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: that are fighting. Whereas like I was watching The Kardashians
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: for a different podcast, but I was recapping it, and
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: there was a scene where Kim Kardashian goes into her
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: storage unit where she has all of these clothes and
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: like all every easy thing that's ever been made, basically
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: like one of everything that they've ever made, and like
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: she's going through all of this these clothes and it's
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: and although like nothing really happens in the scene, I
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: thought it was like one of the best scenes of
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: anything I've ever seen because it was so real and
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: like raw, where she was like talking about like I
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: don't I know that I shouldn't like like I know
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: that now like this all these shoes are like contraband
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: basically because my husband's Nazi and like, as much as
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I need to, I'm one heartbroken that my husband has
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: is mentally unwell and like so much so that he's
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: become a public enemy and it is like causing people
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: harm with his words. That's layer one. Layer two is
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: like this is also the father of all of my children,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: So like what do I do? Say your father is
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: out of his mind and like a crazy person, and
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: like what do you do it? Like you know what
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: I mean? And is like is a Nazi? Like like
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: what do you That's layer two, So like there's a
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: world in which this is so my parents' father that
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I want them to have a relationship with him even
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: if he's not well, like they still need to know
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: who their father is. Three, I like hold on to
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: clothing as memories. Yeah you know what I mean. And
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: it's like all of my memories are like different business
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: things that I did or like clothing items, but like
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: but like just her going through this storage unit again
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: nothing like nothing happens like mundane every day, Like I
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: have so much stuff? What do I do with it?
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: But the emotional stakes of the scene were out of
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: control so much so that I was like, this is
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: so I've been thinking about it since.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: Well, because if you've gone through some sort of layer
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: of trauma like him his currently going through with Kanye,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: you know how retraumatizing that is for you to sit
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: there and be like, well, I guess I'm gonna touch
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: all of the shit that he ever gave me, designed
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: for me, all of it, because I've avoided it for
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: so long. And then I know I've been talking about
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Taylor Swift all summer. But when I went faeral during
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: All Too Well, while I was watching her live and
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: cry saying to it and then yelled in a bunch
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: of people's videos who did not know that they were
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: sitting next to me, fuck Jake Jillenhall, just because the
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: spirit moved me. Like I thought about it, and I
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: told this to my friend Elizabeth, I go, All too
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Well isn't about the breakup, I go, It's about all
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: of the gaslighting that happened in their relationship. I go,
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: that's why she keeps saying I was there. I remember
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: it all too well. I go, because he's probably told
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: her a lot of bullshit that he did or said
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: did not happen. And she's like, oh, and I was like,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and I know that because no one's been gas lit
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: more than me except for maybe Taylor Swift. And so
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: I cry almost every time I hear that song. So
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: to sit in a storage unit with all of my
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: gas lighters stuff and be like, what am I allowed
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: to keep? What should be in my own?
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: As she's going through the racks, she just like pulls
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: out like this gray hoodie and it's the gray hoodie
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: that he's wearing in the album cover of College Dropout
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: and it says college drop Out. And you're just like,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: it's just like it hits you like a ton of bricks.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? Like, because you're just like,
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: holy fuck, like it's it's I don't know, but like
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: being able to watch that person go through that on
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: TV has made me like be more intellectual as a
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: human beings, do you know what I mean? It's like
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: like I've thought about like, oh, I wonder what that
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: would feel, because like when will on any of us
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: ever be able to say that, Like, oh, yeah, I
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: know what it's like. Whenever like my very famous husband
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: go is mentally unwell and turns into a Nazi, Like,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: none of us will be able to say that that,
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: Like everyone that is a household name. You know what
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: I mean by his first name? Only do you know
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: what I mean? Like, none of us will ever be
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: able to say that. So it's like there's a world
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: in which it is completely unrelatable, and yet it's like
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: this is still a woman's experience and it's like absolutely heartbreaking. Yeah.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: And I think when you're looking at physical things like
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: a sweatshirt that says college dropout, that we all know.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: So it's like that's part of Kanye's history as part
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: of history, that's part of my.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Part of our history. Yeah, it's part of American history truly.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Yeah, there are still songs that I have a really
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: hard time skipping when they come up on my Spotify
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: DJ and I'm like, please don't make me skip it.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: Let me pretend I'm too far from my phone. Like Chris,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I think we should actually move into the lasting moments
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: of the podcast, so I don't keep you here because
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I know eventually you will have other things to do.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: I also could talk about like this is like everything
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: I ever want to talk about. So if we don't stop,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: like I we'll just stay on this, You'll make a
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: three hour podcast and then you're like, why the fuck
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: did I do this?
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Because I love spending time with you, even if it's
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: over a video. On to all the men I've told
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: you before. We talk about a lot of heavy things
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: like keeping up with the Joneses and women's place in
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: TV and agism. So we like to end on a
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: positive note by offering the audience like a little life
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: experience lesson that you may have gotten from our conversation
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: or watching Kim Kardashian in her storage unit or producing
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: the Housewives. And then we like to take that lesson
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: and then throw out some positivity even further with a
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: manifestation and a hope that we wish for something to
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: happen at some point. We just like to speak aboud
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: our manifestations. So, what have you learned by producing the
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Housewives and being involved in TV that focuses on older women?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: You know, what's something? Okay, this is kind of in
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: the vein of like keeping up with the Jones and
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Slash Kardashians, is that, yes, does everyone want to have
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: a huge house and do they want to have like
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: a you know, do they want to have bluestone man
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: or do they want to have a Hampton's house like Ramona?
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Do they want to have this? They want to have
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: something where they can have parties and like, you know,
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: be the hostess with the most this you can live
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: in an efficiency apartment and you can still throw a
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: great party. I think that that's something that a lot
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: of them have said that to me. They're like, we
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: used to know parties when I had three roommates and
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: we were like twenty five. And it really is something
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: where like even if you are like I can never
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: have anyone over because I don't have a nice apartment,
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: like you know, I don't live like the housewives, So
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: like why does it? Why would anyone ever need to
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: come here? Some of the most fun I've ever had
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: has been like going to a friend's house that was
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: like cooking a dinner. It didn't need to be anything fancy,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: It didn't need to be anything, you know, but the
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: special touches and like you don't need to have back
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: Baccarat crystal glasses, like you know what I mean, You
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: don't need to have like Creighton Barrel isn't that expensive,
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: you know what I mean? You can get stemware from
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: Creighton Barrel that's like very cute in chic, and still
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: it's four dollars a glass, you know what I mean.
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: It's I think that something that is very like you
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: don't need to spend a lot of money, and you
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: don't also need to go to home goods and buy
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: like ugly ass shit. I think so much of this
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: stuff at home Gooods is I know that like zero
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: everyone's turning the podcast off now, but like, so much
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: of the stuff at home Goods is I think so
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: ugly and so like kisshy and like not in a
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: cute way.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: Why are you insulting my glass, pumpkin?
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: No? But but like like there's so much stuff where
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: it's like there's all these patterns and everything, and I'm like, Okay,
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: this doesn't all need to be so loud, Like it
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: doesn't need to be so crazy. You can have chic,
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: nice things from Macy's where you get where you have
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: your Macy's credit card and you end up spending ten
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: dollars on like a blanket that's on like super sale,
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like you can hunt for
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: bargains and like just because you don't have the you
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: don't have an Instagram house that's like all white with
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: like shag rugs and like ugly ass shit like that
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: they all think is so cute. Like you can have
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: your own personal style and make that apparent, and like
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: even with clothing, like it doesn't you don't need to
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: spend a bajillion dollars, But you can buy one thing
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: that was maybe maybe fifty dollars that you is out
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: of your price range, that's made well, that you wear
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: all the time, and you can just switch up the
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: way that you wear it and it looks great. Like
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: you don't need to spend all this money and keep
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: up with the Joneses in that way, whenever you are
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: thoughtful about the way that you do things, like your
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: betting doesn't need to be eight million dollars, but it
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: can be cute and not just like whatever the fuck's
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: at home goods it's ugly as shit, do you know
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: what I mean? And it's like nine thousand patterns together
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: that be there, like trying to make you buy. Do
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: you know what? Does that make sense?
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Yeah? And you can still enjoy the thing, like the
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: cutest Barbie versus what's that? I mean? For me and
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: my sister, the beets are from the dollar store. I
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: just impulsively And now I'm pissed because I don't think
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: that they have a pen anymore. It's like I would
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: have bought all of them.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: And you and you don't need to. I think that
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: was something. It's definitely something that they've told me a
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: million times. It's like the women, it was like, it's
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: all about the presentation of what you have, Like you
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: know what I mean. It's like, it doesn't matter if
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: if your house is the nice house or not nicest house.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: If you have if it's cute and it's cozy and
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: it's warm and people, it looks inviting, and that doesn't
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: need to be an Ermez blanket. It doesn't. It can
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: be you know, again, a home goods blanket that you
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: take really good care of. Mm hm, you know what
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: I mean. It can be like a thrifted coffee table
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: that's old wooden, like, looks really cute and you just
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: make sure you clean it once a week, Like you
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: don't need to have expensive things to have like beautiful things.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Yeah. I think my lesson whenever we talk about capitalism
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: and money and the power it wields in the show
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: is I like to just remind people that, like now
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: that money truly isn't all that physical anymore. In my head,
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: it's made up so well it is.
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: I mean there's I'll come back any day. You want
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: to just talk about like the fact that like what
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: are stocks other than just like make believe nothing, Like
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: it's just nothing.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: It's just monopoly.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Like it's insane that our entire economy is hinges
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: on just like a made up system that has nothing
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: to do with anything.
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: Right, they tell us that there's no money, and I'm like,
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: just put more zeros into the internet. I don't know.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: Yeah, now, I'll come back in a second. And I
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: just droned on about like nine million things. But it
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: really is that thing of like you also can like
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: you also can achieve what you want to achieve and
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: make things look cute or look nice and they don't
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: have to and you don't have to actually work that hard.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: You just have to like know where you're getting your stuff.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you hope in the future for either
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: of the housewise, yourself, misogyny, the collective in general?
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: I hope that well for myself, I hope that you
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: guys come and listen to my podcast called Fixing Famous People.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: How dare I do that? But now Natalie has been
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: a guest. I know, but it's just like, what do
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I hope for myself? But that is what I hope.
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: It's very funny. We have a lot of fun Natalie,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: but I guess she'll be a guest again and please
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: come listen. It's really great. I hope for women. I
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: think that a lot of like women's issues are just
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: that it's labeled as women's issues, and so men for
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: the most part don't ever feel that they need to
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: be involved with them, and that's in itself like a disservice.
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: And so there is such a thing where like I
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: like the fact that even though I don't watch it
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: a lot myself, I like the fact that Summer House
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: does exist because it's like a Bravo show that then
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: is like a pipeline that lets and below deck as well,
- 1:16:11Speaker 2: where like everyone's boyfriend is watching that with their girlfriends
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: and then they eventually get sucked into housewives and then
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: men are listening about women with fibroids or like women
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: that like wanted to be blank, blank and blank, but
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: then they couldn't you know what I mean? Like that
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: does exist because of shows like that, and I hope
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: that we can start to talk about women's issues and
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: it not be labeled as like something for women that
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: men don't need to be involved in.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and wouldn't that be great for everything? For LGBTQ issues, for.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: People, their trans issues.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: What if they were all just issues? Like yeah, person
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: of my person manifestation is that Chris and I work
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: together on hundreds of projects.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Yes, please.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: When you ran into someone that you admire at the
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Beyonce concert and you were like, I can't believe this
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: happened to me, And I was like, if Chris and
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: I got into the same room with our luck and
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: our talent and our charm, we would run countries.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: I talk to you every day, like you know what
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: I mean, It's like that I met someone I was like,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: oh my god, I've been like listening to you for years.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: This is so great. You and I talk every single day.
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: So it's like, well, I don't know what you're like,
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: if only we could be in a room. We'll be
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: in a room again very soon, don't you worry about that?
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: I know, And actually when this airs, it probably probably
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: already will have done that.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: And I think my second manifestation that deals with the
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: episode is I just thought thought the world gets kinder
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: to older women in general. Like every day is Margot
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Roby looking at a really old lady on a bench
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: and going, you're beautiful, and that lady going fucking duh. Yeah,
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: that's all because I'm getting older. And while I welcome
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: my shrew and have years, every day, I'm like, every
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: day I'm getting closer and closer to when people will
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: believe that I am impact to chrone on the inside.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I cannot wait. I will take myself to the woods
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: after you and I work on two hundred projects, and
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: then you'll be like, yeah, where's your great partner and
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: abley in the woods? That's where it's.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I am starting to really be like, all right,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: I need to like be on a diet and like
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: eat healthier, and I need to exercise more and I
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: need to like, like notice how shiny my skin is
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: because I've been throwing every product I've ever owned on it.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: No, I exfoliated today and then put the heaviest solution
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: I know I own on every as if I was.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: Like being lubed up to get like dunked into a cannon,
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Like I was like Christmas is gonna log on and
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: I'm gonna look insane that you're melting like and I'm
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: just gonna slight off of.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: My chair, slide off. I mean while the same like
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: we're like both just sliding right off our chairs. Yeah.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I just hold that the world gets a little
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: bit easier on older women because my god, they they're
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: not only our future. There are presents like yeah, they
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: know a lot of shit.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: And it's like and it's like when I mean, I know,
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: we're like done, but like it's like when have you
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: watched ever in your life, like a woman over fifty
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: like have sexual desires on a scripto television.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Show ever exactly, or a woman in her fifties or
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: her forties just be like, you know, now that I
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: think about it, and I take God and my parents
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: out of the equation, maybe I'm queer like and that's
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: like it's just so refreshing to know that whatever year
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: of your life that you're in, you're allowed to make
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: that year what you want it to be and what
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: your identity is go to be that year. And the
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: housewives do a lot of revampain of themselves and that's refreshing. Yeah,
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: for better, for worse, for better for worse. If it's
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: not for better, it's at least for entertaining.
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: For entertainment. Yes, correct. Wow, what a way to end it.
