- 0:20SPEAKER_00: This podcast is my opportunity to speak from the heart, and that's what I'm going to do today.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: In addition to that, I'm going to talk about how we as real estate professionals can and should be more human, be more empathetic, and be more authentic in our marketing and how we can do it.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: And you know exactly where you should put it and all that stuff.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: So this will be a little different episode today.

- 1:22SPEAKER_00: I am your host, Dustin Brohm.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: This is going to be a little different today.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I'm going to speak much more from the heart, give you my opinion on things, give you my thoughts, perspective.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: And, you know, if you if you agree, if you don't, totally fine.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: You know, at the heart of what I'm about to say is a deep understanding that we all have different perspectives.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: We all come from different upbringings, different uh points of view.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: All of that is fine, but having a conversation is what matters.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Talking about the differences between us is so important.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Then I'll also, like I said in the intro, I'm going to tie it into marketing and you know, some thoughts that you can move forward with to market your listings, a market yourself to get new business and all of that, uh, you know, with some perspective of how to just be more human and show it so that you can attract the right people to you in your marketing.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Before we get started, if you are new to the show, welcome.

- 3:37SPEAKER_00: And this week, I've this last week's been crazy.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I've had um before I get into just talking about this this terrible murder of George Floyd that happened, and it it was a murder.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: It it was act it was 100% murder.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: And uh you're not gonna hear any I'm not gonna fight you on that.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: I mean, that anyone with a brain, anyone who saw what's going on, um would agree.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: But before I get into that, I've had so many messages about podcasting.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: How do I do this?
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: What gear do I need?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: What kind of microphone?
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And then once I record the audio file, what do I do with it?
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: So two things I want to mention for you guys who want to do a podcast.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: The first thing, you need a hosting platform, okay?
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: The hosting platform is where you upload the audio file to, and then it distributes the audio file, it publishes it to Apple, to Spotify, to Pocket Casts, to, you know, uh iHeartRadio, to Google Podcasts, Stitcher, all of those places where you listen to podcasts, wherever you're listening to this podcast now, the podcast gets to you from my podcast host.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: So you need a hosting platform.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: I use something called Buzz Sprout.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: It is extremely user-friendly.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: If you if you Google podcasting platforms, you're gonna hear about Libsin.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Libs and Libsin, Libson.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I promise you, Libsin is is used by the majority of people because it's just been used forever.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean it's better.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: It's just that's what people have been using.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: It's so freaking outdated.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: So if you want to have an easy time and still have literally all the same functionality that anyone with Libsin has, then you want you want to use Buzz Sprout.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So you can actually get a$20 Amazon gift card if you're a new customer of Buzz Sprout.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: So go to Massive Agent Podcast.com slash Buzz Sprout, B-U-Z-Z Sprout, and you can get a$20 Amazon gift card for uh for signing up there.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Um but try that out.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: It's like$12 a month.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: That's all I pay to host my my podcast, is$12 a month.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: It makes it so easy.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I promise you, I've done my research on podcasting hosts.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: There's nothing better for 99.9% of you than Buzz Sprout.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And I am one of those 99.9%.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: It's just the easiest.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: It does all, it has all the bells and whistles as anything else.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: It's just easy.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: $12 a month.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Go go go get yourself a hosting platform if you plan to do a podcast or if you have already launched one and just want to have a better hosting platform.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: And then as far as microphones, I highly recommend that you guys get the ATR 2100X by Audio Technica.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I personally use a Blue Yeti.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: I wish I didn't because it's super sensitive.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: It's a great mic.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: You have to get super close, and you have to be in a very quiet room.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: It just takes more planning and prep to have great sound.
- 6:37SPEAKER_00: And it does have great sound.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: It's about a$120 mic, but it could hear a mouse fart three blocks away.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: It's so sensitive.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: So I if I was doing it over again, I would get the ATR 2100 X and you could get it on Amazon.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: I highly recommend, guys, go to my Amazon store and check out that mic along with a pop filter that you need to go in front of it.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: I have all of that there in an Amazon store for you.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Just go to Massive Agent Podcast.com slash podcast gear, MassiveAgent Podcast.com slash podcast gear and get hooked up with uh with the link.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: It'll take you right to the Amazon store.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: You can get that mic and do all that.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And by buying through our Amazon store, you are helping to support this podcast just a little bit with a couple bucks that you know uh that they'll pay us for referring them a paying customer.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So uh go check that out for all you guys asking about podcasting, which you've been coming out of the woodwork the last week.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: So there we go.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: Okay, guys, I I want to give you my thoughts on George Floyd and the current state of America and Black Lives Matter and everything that's going on.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Um I've I've really waited to put anything out there.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And it's not uh if you've noticed, uh, please don't take it for anything other than me just wanting to have full context.
- 7:59SPEAKER_00: I wanted perspective, I wanted to to hear all these different uh perspectives and and points of view, and I uh and I wanted to to think on it for a while uh before I said anything publicly, because I understand that I have a responsibility to to do so.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Now, at first I was thinking I like I don't need to post anything, I don't need to say anything because what would anyone care?
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Like I'm just a real estate podcaster.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: But then I what I realized was I I need to say something because I feel like silence is silence is not helpful.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Silence is not doing any good, it's not um it's not changing the narrative at all.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: And to be honest, above and beyond that, I want to be on the records so that my kids and my grandkids and my grandkids' grandkids one day will know where I stood today as this major uh turning point in America was happening.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: I want I want to be on record of where I stand.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: I want my kids to know where their father stood right now.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: So I'm doing this this podcast, and um I'm recording this on Wednesday.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: It comes out tomorrow.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: So when you hear it, I will have recorded this the prior day.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: Uh I'll I'll be posting similar thoughts on Facebook later this evening, possibly even on um on Instagram as well.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: But I I'm gonna use this chance to uh to really just speak openly and give context more than I can in a Facebook post.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: So when I when I first saw, like most of you guys, about a week ago, when I first saw the video of George Floyd being nonchalantly murdered by a Minneapolis police officer and three others just standing around, hands in their pockets, I I I got physically sick.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: I felt ill.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: I felt so man, it's it's and then this is one of the reasons another reason why I waited to say something like how do I how do I put it into words?
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And something changed in me because it it made me it made me sick, it made me I felt fear, I felt sadness, I felt all sorts of things uh when I first saw it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: I instantly knew that should not have happened.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: That is murder.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: And I mean, I'm as big of a supporter as the police department and uh you know as the next guy.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: But that, as you'll hear from many other police officers, that was so far beyond the line.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: That is murder, and so uh that's why the cops are being charged, as they should, as they absolutely should.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: But since then, okay I wasn't trying to me waiting to say something was not me trying to figure out my stance on that.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: That was murder.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: I knew it instantly, I felt it instantly, I I I felt the presence of evil, if you will, when I watched that video, and it changed something in me.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: But the reaction afterwards that America has had, protesting, peaceful and violent, and the riots and looting and just the whole conversation, that's where I really wanted to take time and just absorb and listen and think and internalize.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: And and I know that a lot of you are with me on this.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: Um and again, it if you don't care what I have to say on this issue, I apologize.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: But like I said, I'm doing this so that I'm on the record, so that my kids one day will know where their father stood.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: And if my perspective helps you or gives any comfort to you, or maybe it pisses you off, maybe you completely disagree with me.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: I don't whatever.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: Um it is what it is.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: So uh you don't have to listen, but I hope that you do and will at least listen because now more than ever, we need to be listening to each other and understand the other side.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: So, you know, this last week has just been super tough emotionally.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: My wife has been having a really tough time.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: Um, she saw the video, she, you know, she's like, how how does that even happen?
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: How could that how could they not know?
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: How could they not or or they knew?
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: How how could those cops not stop and realize what they were doing?
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And how could they not, you know, she just she doesn't understand how that can exist in the world.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: And then when um the protest started in Salt Lake, the protests, which I completely 100% support, then turned to riots and destruction of property and burning of police cars and throwing bricks at people's heads and destroying businesses that that are completely innocent, many of them minority-owned.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: That is so not okay.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: That pisses me off.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: And and so we we've been having a tough time watching this unfold.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: All of us have been watching this unfold.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: I've been consuming a lot more than I probably should have, but I just want I want to take it all in.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Um anyhow, um, but please do not mistake my my lack of a post or s or statement.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Sounds so PR bullshit.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Um please do not mistake me waiting until today's podcast and last night's Facebook post to mean anything other than what I've already said.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Um I I wanted to to really gather my thoughts on this.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: And and I'm still, even though I've had a week to do so, I'm still struggling because how do you talk about this all within one podcast episode that's meant for real estate agents who just want to sell more homes?
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Uh so okay, regardless if anyone cares about my opinion, and I cannot control whether or not you listen or care about the opinion, care about my perspective, whatever.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: I I can't I can only control whether or not I say something, so that's what I'm doing.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: My heart hurts for George Floyd.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: My heart hurts for his family, my heart hurts for the family of those police officers that watched a family member murder another man or stand by while it happened.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: I can only imagine how their families feel.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Could you imagine if if you found out your spouse caused someone to die?
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Whether it was intentional or whatever, like uh I'm not talking about this particular situation, but could you imagine how you would feel?
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: I can't.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I cannot imagine that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: My heart my heart hurts for his family and friends.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Uh and they have to relive it over and over and over and over because the video is out there, right?
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: My heart hurts for our country.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Um, I my heart hurts for those who feel that that protesting is and and clashing with police and and destroying property and just lashing out that they feel like that's their last option.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I my heart hurts for them.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: I I do not know what that feels like.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: I am a 36-year-old white guy from Salt Lake City, Utah, and I've lived here the vast majority of my life.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: I absolutely have a certain level of privilege that I don't even fully understand.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I accept that.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: I can't control that.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to apologize for that, because I I could not control that.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: I've had a great life.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: I I do not have fear when I'm driving around town.
- 15:34SPEAKER_00: I do not have fear if I get pulled over, other than, oh shit, I'm gonna get a ticket.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: Or what did I do now?
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Um so I've been very, very blessed, but I I know now that I will never understand what it's like to be black in America.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: And that, I mean, it is what it is.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: Like, how could I ever know that?
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: How could how could I ever know that?
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: But I want to try to understand.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: I want to try to visualize what that's like.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: I I want to hear what it's like.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: Because if we listen to what it's like in someone else's shoes and we realize, hey, this is not okay, this is not right, then we can make the necessary changes.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: If we deny that there's a problem, if we deny that that changes must be made, nothing will change, and this will get worse.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And it's not right.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: So we've got to listen.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And and that's what I've been spending the last week trying to do and will continue to do.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Um, but imagine if you were so frustrated and so fed up and not being heard, not being listened to, or if someone listened to you, then they just didn't care or didn't do anything about it once you voiced your concerns that were very valid, and you felt that the only outlet for you was to throw a brick through a window or to throw, you know, throw rocks at police officers, to chant, to, you know, burn things.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: I don't understand what it would be like in that position.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: So I have empathy for that.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Where I don't have empathy is for those who are opportunistic who are now who are now completely distracting us from the cause of George Floyd's murder and race relations in America.
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: Antifa, these these frickin' these people who are who are using these protests and turning them violent for their own political agendas and their own just thirst for destruction or just stealing shit, I have no patience for you.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: My I I do not understand that.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Now, and guys, I'm gonna be completely honest.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: I'm I have been this whole time, but but this is a little bit more honest.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I really believe that knowing who I was when I was just out of high school, uh, especially you know, sophomore junior year in high school, I did not understand.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: You know, when you're in high school, you're in a bubble.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: Um you have no um, what's the word?
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: You have no respect for other people's feelings, property, whatever.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: You just you don't think about that stuff.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: It's all about having fun or what's cool in the moment.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: I believe that if I was a high school fresh uh sophomore or junior, maybe even senior, and these and these protests were going on, I might be a part of them.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: I might be one of those people throwing rocks, I might be one of those people, you know, d destroying cities.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: And and so I know that.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: I know that like it it helps me a little bit to understand that these kids who are doing it as they're they're criminals, they're shitheads, they deserve to be arrested, they deserve all the consequences, of course, but I know what it was like when I was just a shithead kid as well, and the mindset I was in, and so I can kind of empathize a little bit with that.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: As much as it pisses me off to say, I uh I get it.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: And from what I've seen on TV, at least in Salt Lake City, they're kids.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: They're kids that it's like they're trying to be cool.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: They and and the most well, one of the most frustrating parts about the whole thing is when they start to loot and destroy and burn and and cause other people's businesses to just be destroyed, they are now they've completely ruined this uh this valid protest, this valid movement towards justice and and changing the way things are done so that black America feels more part of society, if you will.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: It's probably the wrong way to put it, but you know what I mean.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: And and so now they're like, hey, I'm just gonna use this because I want to steal some shit.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: I just want to break some windows, I just want to like be cool.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Uh that is so not okay.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: But I know what I was like when I was 18, 19 years old.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: I might have been one of those people.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: And I thank God that I wasn't.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: Because I would deserve to be arrested.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: I would deserve to be to have a cop come up behind me if I was throwing rocks at them and beat the shit out of me.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: Because that's what's you know, you you reap what you sow.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And you you do not you don't treat people like like that, especially uh police officers.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: I was taught as a kid, you do not, you know, police officers are people of authority, and you do not act that way towards them.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Um you don't even talk back, you know?
- 20:32SPEAKER_00: Um and and that, being that they are in positions of authority, makes it that much more painful and difficult that they were the ones causing this.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: They were the ones that caused George Floyd to die.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: They were the ones who killed him.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: And they were the ones that that should be protecting and serving, and that's what makes this all so just so I don't even know.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: I I don't even know.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: I I thought that I'd be able to be much more um articulate today, but it's it's just not okay.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: So last thing before I get into some marketing talk, so that you can actually get some real estate value, some real estate marketing value out of today's show.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: And if that's all you were looking for today, I apologize.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: But I needed to say this, and and this podcast is my my platform.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: This is my megahorn.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Megaphone?
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: Mega horn, whatever.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: This is my soapbox, and so I'm gonna use it because it's important to me.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: Last thing I'll say is black lives absolutely matter.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: They matter to me.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: Full stop.
- 21:48unknown: Okay?
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: Stop saying all lives matter.
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: No shit.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: It's not about it's not about you.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: It's not about us.
- 21:59unknown: Okay?
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: I will say black lives absolutely matter to me.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: And I don't and if you're listening to this show, and if you have been for a while, I know that they matter to you too.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: So just leave it at that.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: Don't make it about you and say, well, actually all lives matter.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Well, no shit, but it's not about us right now.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: It's not about us.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: I don't feel threatened.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: I don't feel threatened.
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: I don't feel unsafe.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: So it's not about us.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: No shit, all lives matter, but stop saying that in the context you're saying it.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Let's just embrace our our black brothers and sisters.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: They need it.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: They deserve it.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: And let's leave it at that and not make it about us and say, well, actually, all lives matter.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: No shit.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: It just it's really driving me nuts.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: And most people who say it, I I understand where they're coming from.
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: I completely understand because yes, in a vacuum, outside of what's happening right now, of yes, all lives matter.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter what color you are, of course, I get it.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: But when you say it in the context you're saying it, it's hurtful.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: It's dismissive of our black brothers and sisters, or anyone with a different any minority, uh, especially our African American friends, it's dismissive of what's happening to them and what they're going through, and it's not okay.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: So reach out to um I I've reached out to some some friends of mine who are black and just said, hey, you I want you to know you matter to me and I love you.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: And and that's it.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, if if they want to talk, awesome.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: If they don't, at least I don't know.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: So with everything going on right now, if you are wondering, like, wow, the the the climate on social media is just not right for for me um promoting things or selling or or you know running Facebook ads or whatever, and you feel like it's just tone deaf for the moment, you're probably right.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: It's okay to take a minute.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: It's okay to wait a week before you start a Facebook ad campaign.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: It's okay to wait until um you feel right promoting your new listing or doing a video about why now is the best time to buy a house in Salt Lake City.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: And you know, if you feel that the timing is off and you feel uncomfortable and you feel like you just feel kind of icky, then don't.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: When you whatever you are putting out right now, and from here forward, be human, be authentic, let people get to know you.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: This is why content marketing is so great.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: When you do video, when you do podcast, when you do something where people can actually see and or hear you, they can get to know the real you.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: They can see how you say things, they can they can see your body language while you're saying it.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Uh if they're if they can only hear you, if it's just a podcast or whatever, then you know they can hear how you say things.
- 25:17SPEAKER_00: It's so important uh to getting to know somebody's personality.
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: You guys that have been listening for a while, you know me pretty well.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: Like I'm I am myself on this show.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: I censor myself a little bit.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: I don't say the F word on the show.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: I think I have once, but I do that on purpose.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: I just decided I'm I'm not gonna do that.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: That's that's the line for me.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: But other than that, like, you know, this is me.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: This is me.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: And and I feel like I've been able to build deeper connections with a lot of you, and and a lot of you have come to work with me and join my real estate team and join my exp organization because you you feel like you've gotten to know me.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: There's so much power in just putting yourself out there.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: So do that and use your voice.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: Don't be afraid to, I mean, don't be divisive, don't be super controversial and stuff unless you're fine with that, unless you're totally willing to alienate half of people.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: I don't think that's a smart business move.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: I don't just don't think you need to do that or should, but that's that's cool.
- 26:15SPEAKER_00: You do you.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: But use the tools available: YouTube, Instagram stories, Snapchat if you still use it, TikTok if you use it, podcasting, writing articles, Facebook posts, LinkedIn articles, all that stuff is there for you to get more people to see or hear your message.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: Whatever your message is, okay, add some more empathy to it.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Uh be be conscious of what's going on in society when you're posting things so it's not tone-deaf.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: We we spoke on a previous episode during the the middle of the COVID uh pandemic when you know, March and April, when it was really crazy, I told you the story of a local agent in Salt Lake who was running Facebook ads that had been running for a while, that made no mention of the pandemic, no mention of how it would affect property values or anything.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: And it was just like, now's the best time to sell.
- 27:06SPEAKER_00: And and she didn't mean anything by it.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: You know, she just had it running for a while, but didn't turn it off when the climate changed.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: When the when the climate on social media changed, you've got to be sensitive to that, to that.
- 27:22SPEAKER_00: So time your stuff correctly.
- 27:24SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean that you can't or shouldn't promote things.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: It's just how you do it.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: How you do it matters, what you say and how you say it matters so much.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: So just pick better topics, pick more timely topics, or if you're gonna do a first-time homebuyer campaign or something, maybe you wait a week.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 27:44SPEAKER_00: Just be more sensitive to it.
- 27:46SPEAKER_00: So there's so many great tools out there to help you amplify how many people will see the message.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: So if you do a video, you've got to learn Facebook advertising.
- 27:59SPEAKER_00: Running running a Facebook ad or Instagram ad or both to get more people to watch a video is so easy and you get so much for your money.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, you can be getting people watching 15 seconds or more of a video, which is that's that's actually a long time if you think about when you're scrolling your news feed and boom, somebody stops, and for 15 seconds or more they're watching a video, and you can get that for one or two cents.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: I mean,$30 goes a very, very long way to get thousands of people to see a video or hundreds or whatever it is.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: So you've got to learn Facebook advertising and use video.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: It is the best way to get a message out there.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Okay, not necessarily to capture leads, but to get more people to hear you and see you and deliver a message.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: You've got to know what the goal of your campaign is.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: Is it that you have this amazing video?
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's a neighborhood tour, maybe it's just a listing walkthrough video, and you and you're thinking, I just want more people to see this.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: If only more people could see this, then I'd get more showings, or I'd get, we'd sell the house quicker, or we'd get more offers, then do that.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Don't worry about capturing their information.
- 29:11SPEAKER_00: Just get get get it out there.
- 29:13SPEAKER_00: Facebook ads are great.
- 29:14SPEAKER_00: Put stuff in your Instagram stories, uh, cross-post.
- 29:18SPEAKER_00: So, you know, if you do a great Instagram story, download the video, put it up on YouTube, or put it over on Facebook, and then take the video and put it on LinkedIn, wherever your audiences are.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: You can, if you have great content, cross-post it, put it in different places, or pieces of it in different places.
- 29:35SPEAKER_00: It doesn't always have to be 100% original, never been seen before.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Uh, you're doing something unique for Facebook and then for LinkedIn, and then it that's great, but that just takes so much more time.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: So much more time.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: If you do something, put it in a bunch of different places in different ways that are natural to the platform that they're on, and then learn how to put some money behind it on Facebook or Instagram.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: You could even do it on LinkedIn and Twitter.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: Their plat their ad platforms are just not nearly as as uh awesome as Facebook.
- 30:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, you don't get as much for your money, but learn that.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: So then you you you do a great video that you're proud of, and you're like, man, if only more people could see it, we'll put$30 behind it and run a Facebook ad and get a thousand or more people to see it.
- 30:21SPEAKER_00: It's not it's really the tools are there.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: The tools are there.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: There's no shortage of information of how to do those things.
- 30:29SPEAKER_00: The only variable is are you gonna seek the information out?
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: You could either hire someone, you could join the Massive Agent Society if you want to, you could watch a YouTube video and learn it yourself, you could do it trial and error, whatever, but do it.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: There's information, go seek it out, and then do.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: That's the variable that no one else can help you with but you.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: It's an amazing time right now, guys.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Be an adult in the room, be a leader in your community, be human, let people see let people see who you are.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: Let it shine through in your content.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: Put personality into it.
- 31:08SPEAKER_00: Okay?
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: And there's never been a better time for humans with personalities to stand out on social media than now.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: You just have to do it in the right way.
- 31:22SPEAKER_00: So I I beg you, just whatever you post, whatever you make sure that you think about how it's gonna be received.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: Is it is the timing right?
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: Is the messaging right?
- 31:32SPEAKER_00: Does the audience that you want to see it actually care about it?
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Or do you just want them to see it?
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: If you're just like, well, I want them to see it, so I'm just gonna, it's not gonna do so well.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Think about what they want, what they need, and then share that.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: Guys, thank you so much for tuning in today.
- 31:49SPEAKER_00: It's been a uh a different podcast episode, but if you're still here at the end, congratulations and thank you.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: Um really I really thought I'd be able to be more articulate in the in the beginning with what's going on, but that's those are my thoughts um as of as of now, you know.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: Um man, it's it's I really do feel good now that I've put it out there because I think it's important to be on the record with where I stand.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: And if anyone listening ever needs any support or someone uh to listen to them, I mean it genuinely.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: This is not an just uh an empty offer or empty promise or whatever.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Reach out, send me a DM at Massive Agent on Instagram, at Massive Agent on Facebook, and I will listen.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: If there's anything that I can do to help, I that is why I do this podcast.
- 32:47SPEAKER_00: I want to help real estate agents.
- 32:49SPEAKER_00: I want to help you be successful.
- 32:51SPEAKER_00: I want to help show you the path to be successful.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: I want to show you that the tools to be successful and build wealth and build a business exist.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I can only I can only do that if you're willing to accept or open your eyes and and see and see what's being presented to you.
- 33:11SPEAKER_00: Not to say that it's it's like whatever I say is that's it, like that's the only option.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: It's not what I'm saying at all.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: But from my perspective, my job is to just share it and to help.
- 33:22SPEAKER_00: So I'm genuine in that.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: If there's if the if you would like to talk about my perspective or my thoughts and maybe give yours or correct me on something, or uh, you know, whatever, challenge me on something, that's fine.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: As long as you do it from a place of genuine um you genuinely just want to to man, this is this is so hard.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: If you genuinely want to uh make progress in this country and better understand others and you want to have a dialogue, happy to have it.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: If you just want to if you want to have a fight, if you want to battle, I'm not interested.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: I'm too busy for that shit.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: I have way too many things to do to take care of my businesses and my family.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: So if you just want to fight, if you just want to be an asterisk cole and tell me, well, actually this, and actually the stats show this, and and I'm not interested.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Stick it and uh you know, go share it with somebody else, because I don't care.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Guys, thank you.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: I love you.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: I you all matter to me.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: Um I know I think that the only thing that I wanted to say in the beginning that I didn't that I can now is, you know, I a lot of people are saying that I don't see color.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: I don't see color.
- 34:41SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: I do see color.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: But I also don't think there's anything wrong with that.
- 34:46SPEAKER_00: Just because you notice someone else has a different ethnicity or different skin color than you does not mean anything.
- 34:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, it's it's what you th it's it's the thoughts that come after that.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: Your actions matter.
- 35:01SPEAKER_00: You're you know d I hope you know what I'm saying.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Um I'm not colorblind, but I'm man.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: I think you know what I'm saying, and I I hope that you do.
- 35:18SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna leave it at that.
- 35:19SPEAKER_00: Um guys, thank you so much for tuning into the show.
- 35:22SPEAKER_00: I really appreciate you.
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: We'll be back next week with uh with a guest and uh really dive deep on some tactics to help you to sell more homes and be be successful.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: Um, but I will end with this.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Everything we're going through right now in America, it may get worse before it gets better, but like a wildfire, I believe we will become stronger and better as people and a nation for it.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: A wildfire destroys forests and it just looks so bad.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: You know, it's like, wow, how can this ever this was so beautiful before, now it's just it's nothing.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: Then once the regrowth happens, it's it grows back even better, even more green, even more lush, even taller trees, healthier trees, everything than before.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: And I I believe that that's what's going to happen.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: As long as we are honest and we we uh we let it be known where we stand and we don't tolerate bullshit and we call out evil when we see it.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: Thank you guys.
- 36:23SPEAKER_00: Talk to you guys next week.
