- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Talking about burning fat, people talk about cardio and the way that you do it.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I I think the best question or the much better question is if you have stored body fat on your system, on your body, and it comes in the form of adipose tissue, right?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: That's the other that that's what you call fat.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Adipose tissue is stored body fat.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Some people that are lean, you know, they have just what they need so you don't really see it.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: You see the muscles underneath the skin, but there's fat in there.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: It's just not as prevalent as somebody that was where I was, maybe 135 pounds fatter than I am today.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: I still have fat left.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I'm not lean, like single-digit lean, but again, I still have this fat left, and it's something that I kind of keep.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: I I like the level where I've gotten to.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: But my biggest question to myself back in the day when I started is, okay, if cardio doesn't really burn fat and that wasn't really explained when the uh the the fitness guru was going on about it on and on and on.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Realistically you have to figure out how you access that fat.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So that's the better question.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: How is it that you are able to get to that stored body fat in order to start getting it less and less and less, making burning that fat.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: And is it through cardio or is it through weightlifting?
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: Is it through walking?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Well, in actuality, it comes to more of a dietary approach, and then people say, Well, what's the best way to do it?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Is it calorie restriction?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: Does that mean we need to eat less and move more?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: That's something that's been touted for many, many years.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And it's been proven not to work.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: If you look at the people that have been trying, if it was really that simple, all we had to do is eat less and move more, then I think that the fat obesity problem that is running so rampant would have been solved by now.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: If you think about it and look back historically, the eat less, move more method has resulted in even a fatter society.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Maybe not as a direct blame to that way, but if you look at it, if that actually worked, it would have fixed it by now.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: So why doesn't it work?
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Well, if you eat less and move more, usually you create a metabolism problem.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: So let's say your metabolism is burning typically 2,500 calories a day, and let's say you take on this approach of restriction, uh caloric restriction and also working out.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Let's say you drop your calories from 2,500 to 1,500 calories a day, which isn't really uncommon for some of the caloric restriction models.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Some of the weight loss clinics and the medically supervised clinics, they'll drop you all the way down to eight or nine hundred calories a day and then maintain that you eat a particular way and cut out certain food groups and so on, which is fine.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: A lot of those try to get you into the ketogenic type lifestyle, and that's different, and I'll explain to you why why they do that and how that actually works.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: But if you think about your body, you have a two-fuel system.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So it can either burn sugar or carbohydrates that are in your liver or in your system that you eat, the food that you take in, or the system can also burn fat via incoming fat, of course, but the main one that we want to attack, right, the one we want to figure out how to get to is going to be that stored body fat because we have it on our system for a reason.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: But we don't need 300 pounds of stored body fat.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: We don't need 200 pounds or maybe 100 pounds, we don't need all of that fat.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: And if you look at the way the human body has been designed, it has a certain point where once you get more than that fat, then it becomes unhealthy.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: What is that number?
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Well, it's going to be very person dependent, but if you have uh a belly that's larger than your shoulders or larger than your hips, or depending on how you gain weight, that is something that is a medical problem because not only do you have that fat, the fat that you can see on your skeleton pushing through your skin on the outside, but you're also carrying on the inside what's called visceral fat.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: That's the organ fat, the fat that is on the outside of your heart and on the outside of your stomach, on the outside of your liver.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: These other issues, and those create medical problems if you have too much of it.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: How do you get rid of all of that fat?
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: Well, you need to get your body into the state where you can access it.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So if you do the caloric restriction and you cut that down, the problem that I've seen just doing the research I've been doing, and again, I'm not a doctor, so you're going to make sure you go talk to your medical professional doctor before you get involved in changing anything in your life.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: But the way that I see it is the metabolism for the body is very quick to adjust to that lower level.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: So if you're burning that 2,500 calories a day and you say, you know what, I really need to drop, you know, 30 pounds, and you go to the doctor weight loss clinic or watch some of these gurus online, they're going to tell you, okay, go ahead and cut your calories down to let's say 1,500.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: Well, that should save you about a thousand calories a day.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And if you continue the way that you are, then realistically, if a pound of fat has 3,500 calories, you're saving a thousand calories a day by going from 2,500 to 1,500.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: That's a thousand.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Actually, you should be dropping somewhere in the neighborhood of a pound of body fat in three and a half days.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: That's kind of how that equation plays out.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: So three and a half days, that's thirty, five hundred calories.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: That's about that burn or the difference in where you were if you weren't gaining any weight at 2,500 calories a day, dropping it down to 1,500, about a pound of body fat every three and a half days.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: That's wonderful.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: The issue is if you study this a little bit more, you're going to find out that the metabolism of the body is quite dynamic and very intelligent.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: It will reduce and start burning the level at now 1,500.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: So then you hit that plateau, which we all have, right?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: You start to you drop a little bit of weight, maybe some water weight.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: It looks pretty good in the first several days, maybe a week or two.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Then all of a sudden you plateau, and then you go tell your trainer, oh, I plateau.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Well, you're going to have to increase your cardio a little bit.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: Or what is it you're eating?
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're eating salmon.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Well, there's maybe some fat in salmon that maybe you shouldn't be eating.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: These other things that they tell you.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Now all of a sudden you're hungry all the time, you're tired, you're not feeling great, and then you are then looking to snack, and then you get hangry, and then you really you you blow the whole thing out of the water.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Different way, and a way that seems to be more effective would be this.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: What if you were to maybe change the way that you eat and change over to something where you're eating more fat to a point that your body is no longer burning that incoming sugar and glucose for fuel, but it's actually burning fat for fuel.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: So that's what happens when you restrict carbohydrates or incoming sugar.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: So sugar is carbohydrates.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: You reduce that to a point where your body starts to burn body fat as its primary fuel source.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: And you've heard of ketosis, ketones, potentially.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: This is the Atkins approach.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: This is the Atkins diet or ketogenic diet, caveman diet, carnivore.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: It's all somewhat similar, but in essence, besides the types of food that get you into ketosis, most of those diets or those ways of life are ketogenic in nature because you're burning ketones for fuel instead of sugar.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: At that point, you're able to start accessing your stored body fat on your system or on your frame.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: And you're starting to be able to eat that.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: Then you have the cardio that you inject.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: So at that point when you do this cardio, then what are you burning?
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, you're burning the stored body fat, depending on your caloric intake.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Then you move take it one more step after you've done this for a little bit and gotten a little comfortable with it.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: Then what if you weren't to eat for maybe a meal?
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: So one day, let's say your weak point is in the morning, and you really got to eat in the morning, but it you can go the rest of the day, even into the evening to sleep without eating, then that's great.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: So when you get up in the morning, go ahead and have your uh something ketogenic in nature, keep the carb intake, maybe you know, three eggs, maybe a couple pieces of bacon, boom, that's your breakfast, maybe some cottage cheese with some splint on it.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And don't beat me up over the artificial sweeteners, but again, at the end of the day, it's gonna be what works best for you.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: And if you don't have a negative response to some kind of non-caloric sweetener because of the sweetness, because you could have some kind of an insulin release there, and we don't want any excess of insulin in our bodies because that's gonna keep us the way we don't want to be, which would be fat.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: But if you were to take that approach, you're going to see that you're gonna start dropping weight.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So you eat that one meal, then you don't eat the rest of the day.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: So now you've had basically a 23 to 24 hour fast.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Then you're gonna want to maybe play around with that.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Maybe tomorrow, instead of having that meal in the morning, you just don't eat anything.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: And see how that works out.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: So then you're gonna be going an entire day without eating, maybe 30, 36 hours.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: See what that feels like and watch the scale.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: You're probably going to drop a few pounds.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Now that's not fat.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Realistically, a pound of fat in a complete fast, which would be water and anything non-caloric, usually a pound a day, maybe a pound and a half a day could be somewhat typical.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: I've seen studies online that was the case with me.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: But a lot of that big weight loss at the very beginning of anything, even caloric restriction, has to do with water weight being shut off the body.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Because no longer are you in a caloric surplus, the body can kind of take a breather, and then it's going to release that water, especially when you get in the ketogenic way because it's a very has that effect that your body gets rid of the excess of water it's holding on to.
- 10:22SPEAKER_00: I do know that when I go from being a sugar burner, which means that carbohydrates are the the fuel source that I'm currently using for fuel, and switch over into the ketogenic realm or fat burning, where I'm able to start getting to my visceral fat and my stored body fat, I do notice that I'll drop five to seven pounds very quickly, but that is not fat, that is in the form of water.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: What I realized when I was able to torch off that 135 pounds is consistency is really the key.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: So if I could have a majority of good time in my dietary approach and fasting, then I was able to do it.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And that was the big game changer for all of my life, been struggling with being fat, then finally solving the equation, putting to rest 135 pounds of fat and adipose tissue, and now having this lifestyle where I'm able to feast and fast and really embracing that where food is no longer my center, and that was the other thing, you know, everybody wants to go out and have you know their meals together and dinner together.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: I still go to those events, I just don't eat.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: And people are now used to that.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: At the beginning it wasn't easy because everybody always seems to have a problem if you don't drink and if you don't eat.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: It's like, what's going on with you?
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: Are you okay?
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Do you have a problem with food?
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Boy, I had a big problem with food, and I was able to fix it, and I'm very happy with that.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: So people understand that now.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: When you get there, you'll understand that as well.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: But embrace this, don't get caught up in all the nonsense.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: Do your own research.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: You're gonna come across in your feeds out there a lot of people talking about, you know, why cardio, what cardio burns, it doesn't burn this, it doesn't burn that, and so on.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Again, it's gonna come down to asking yourself the question what's the best way to access and burn the stored body fat?
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: And you'll find out that the caloric restrictive model isn't as effective as a ketogenic or a fasting model.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: But do your own research.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: If you have questions, reach out to me.
