Transcript
- 0:00Today's episode is brought to you by watching people have coffee and trying
- 0:04to figure out if it's a date, a networking situation, or just two exes catching up after four years.
- 0:10My favorite thing to get at Panda Express was the white rice and poured Diet
- 0:14Coke on top instead of soy sauce. It's a whole thing.
- 0:18Miley on how she would eat Panda Express growing up.
- 0:21Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and maybe a laugh.
- 0:25I'm Lindsay Vernick and it's March 30th, 2026. hi
- 0:29guys happy monday thanks so much for tuning in today just
- 0:33a little reminder to please share this podcast with
- 0:36anyone that you know that might like comedy or the
- 0:39news or hates the news and likes comedy or
- 0:42hates comedy and loves the news which is probably not possible but you get the
- 0:47gist so in real news over the weekend thousands of people showed up to protests
- 0:52across the u.s for no kings rallies these protests were technically about the
- 0:56war in iran but a lot of people were also protesting immigration crackdown.
- 1:00And in a fun little twist, some Senate candidates actually showed up to march with the crowds.
- 1:05Nothing like politicians joining protests to say, hey, we hear you,
- 1:09and also you should vote for me.
- 1:11The rallies happened all over the country, from major cities to smaller places
- 1:14like Boise, Idaho, proving that no matter where you live, Americans will absolutely
- 1:18gather in large groups when they're frustrated or when there's a farmer's market.
- 1:23The takeaway from this one is that people are very mad.
- 1:26Politicians are very much present, and everyone is trying to turn that anger
- 1:30into momentum before the midterms, which are shaping up to be less of an election
- 1:34and more of a national argument.
- 1:36An astronaut on the International Space Station had a medical emergency the
- 1:41other day. He suddenly could not speak.
- 1:44I mean, that's super terrifying. And then what's worse is doctors were like,
- 1:49yeah, we actually have no idea why that happened.
- 1:52Cool. Love that for space. The astronaut Michael Fink said it happened out of
- 1:57nowhere while he was eating dinner.
- 1:59Just mid-dinner, no pain, no warning, just couldn't speak.
- 2:04Which honestly might have been the scariest thing when you're in the quietest place in the universe.
- 2:09Now here's where it gets even worse. this led
- 2:12to an early evacuation from the international space station
- 2:15something that has literally never happened before in its
- 2:1825 year history because of a medical issue doctors
- 2:22ruled out that he didn't have a stroke or a heart attack which is great news
- 2:27until you realize that it's not so great that they have no idea what it is and
- 2:32even now months later they still don't know what happened which is great we're
- 2:37just casually sending people into an environment where your body might just
- 2:40go on to airplane mode, and nobody knows why.
- 2:42Thinks that he feels like he let his crew down by cutting the mission short, which is insane.
- 2:47Like, dude, you literally need to come back to Earth. The crew ended up spending
- 2:50167 days in space before returning early, and all four astronauts were sent
- 2:55to the hospital partly for privacy and partly because NASA was just like,
- 3:00we should probably just check everybody to be safe.
- 3:02One of Jill Biden's Secret Service members accidentally shot themselves in the
- 3:07leg at the Philly Airport on Friday morning.
- 3:09According to the U.S. Secret Service, this happened around 8.30 a.m.
- 3:13And is being described as a negligent discharge, meaning that the gun was unintentionally fired.
- 3:19The agent was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition
- 3:22with non-life-threatening injuries.
- 3:24And Jill Biden was also not near the agent or anybody when this went down.
- 3:29The Secret Service says it's conducting an internal investigation to figure
- 3:33out exactly what happened and how the weapon was discharged.
- 3:36I mean, I'm a huge supporter of women and like, you know, we're having equal
- 3:42rights as men and stuff. and we finally get some women in the secret service,
- 3:46but then they literally go and shoot themselves in the foot or leg.
- 3:50In Lindsay life, my roommate was on tour this past weekend. She sold out in New York City.
- 3:56It was so much fun. It was so much fun to like see her up there.
- 4:00I'm so mad. I had this amazing TikTok of her practicing at the house and then
- 4:06like cutting to her playing on stage and it got deleted. I'm so pissed. I'm so mad.
- 4:11Anyway, it was really cool. She's a part of a lot of different music.
- 4:15She does a lot of alternative stuff. And it was really cool to watch people
- 4:20from all different bands and songs that she's been a part of come out and see
- 4:25her and sing along the lyrics to her own song that she just dropped last week
- 4:31is so cool and so crazy to me.
- 4:33And I'm so proud of her. I always do this thing whenever I go to any of her shows.
- 4:38Whenever she's up on stage, I always love to turn to the people next to me and go, that's my roommate.
- 4:43And I did that a few times on Saturday night in New York.
- 4:47And sometimes, a couple times, the person turned back to me and said,
- 4:52I know, Lindsay, we've met multiple times. So embarrassing.
- 4:57Okay thing of this week is i ran i know not the best but i haven't updated on
- 5:03this one in a little bit so i figured it might as well do it this week so things
- 5:07are escalating as we all know and the whole world is watching so right now there's
- 5:12a lot of focus on the straight of.
- 5:15Hormose hormose i don't think i'm pronouncing that right,
- 5:18It's one of the most important shipping routes in the world.
- 5:21A large portion of global oil comes through that region, so any disruption there
- 5:26immediately impacts energy markets and global prices.
- 5:30The situation is being closely watched right now because even the threat of
- 5:34escalation in a region like this can send ripple effects through the global
- 5:37economy, from oil prices to border market stability.
- 5:41And our big orange man has been warning Iran that we're going to bomb their
- 5:45energy infrastructure if they don't do a total surrender.
- 5:48So basically, this situation is very, very tense, and the messaging keeps shifting,
- 5:52too, from us, and everyone involved is trying to figure out what happens next.
- 5:56Israel is also carrying out a lot of strengths, too, on their police forces
- 6:01and militias and a lot of other groups that continuously sustain the regime.
- 6:05The big question here is, will this get the regime out of power?
- 6:09The people need to rise up and overthrow this regime that has been the largest
- 6:13state sponsor of terror and has oppressed and killed hundreds of thousands of
- 6:16people the last 47 years.
- 6:18So for now, the situation is very, very tense and being closely monitored and
- 6:23still developing with a lot of moving parts and there's absolutely no resolution yet.
- 6:29Cooking tip of the day. To have scrambled eggs, you must scramble them.
