Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Selling on Giants, e-commerce news and updates for the week of June 17th.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I'm Mr.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Will, host of the Selling on Giants podcast, and every week I break down what's happening across Amazon, Walmart, and Shopify so you don't have to scroll through forums or decode vague press releases.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Today's a full-on Amazon edition, from vine opening to resellers to liquid cooled data centers, it's all Bezos all day.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: So let's dig in.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Amazon's loosening the gates on one of its most powerful tools.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: And for once, it's not a new feature.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: It's who can use it that's changed.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: Amazon Vine, now open to resellers.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Amazon has officially expanded Vine access to authorized resellers in major markets, including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, and more.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: If you're a reseller with brand registry access and you've got a new FBA product, you can now enroll in Vine and get reviews from Amazon's top-rated Vine voices.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: That's a big win for new product launches and international expansion.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: But here's the rub.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Brands now have less control over how their products are represented.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: A reseller with sloppy listings could tank your review quality, misrepresent the product, or worse, trigger abuse flags inside the Vine program.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Audit who has brand registry access, set clear terms around review generation, and monitor those reviews closely.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: But while Amazon's handing out Vine invites like candy, it's tightening the screws elsewhere.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: With a new policy that's less invite only and more prove it or lose it.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Amazon introduces dedicated stolen goods policy.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Starting June 30th, Amazon will enforce a new standalone stolen goods policy.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: If you're sourcing from liquidators, gray market distributors, or even wholesalers with hazy paperwork, listen up.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: You need full supply chain visibility.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Amazon now requires sellers to prove where products came from, confirm legitimacy, and show that invoices match your volume.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: If you can't, your listings can be removed, funds held, and inventory destroyed at your expense.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: This is Amazon shifting more responsibility to sellers.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: If your documentation can't survive an audit, fix that now.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: And speaking of losing it, one seller's$9,000 lesson in return fraud has the forums fired up and asking the same question: who's really protected here?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Seller loses over$9,000 in Pokemon card return fraud.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: A seller recently reported that a buyer ordered 50 elite trainer boxes, opened the packs, kept the rare cards, and returned the empty boxes.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Amazon processed the refund.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: The seller got nothing.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: No reimbursement, no buyer contact info.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Other sellers chimed in with similar stories.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Counterfeit swaps, partial returns, and Amazon siding with the buyer every time.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: If you're selling collectibles or high-ticket items, think twice before defaulting to FBA.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: Until Amazon Titans return inspection protocols, you're absorbing all the risk.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: But if you're tired of reacting to chaos, here's something proactive.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Amazon's rolling out a brand store quiz that actually helps customers buy the right product.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Imagine that.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Amazon launches Product Selector Quiz Tool.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: The new product selector tool adds guided shopping to brand stores.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: You can create a four-question quiz with images, custom logic, and product recommendations, all built right inside Store Builder.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: It's perfect for gift guides, large catalogs, or helping shoppers narrow choices based on lifestyle or use case.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Use it for Prime Day, back to school, or evergreen discovery campaigns.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Build it, test it, let your storefront sell smarter.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: And once you've guided them to the product, you'll want a storefront that's flexible.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Thankfully, Amazon's finally giving us the store builder shortcuts we should have had years ago.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: Amazon adds copy and move tools to brand store builder.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: You can now duplicate entire pages or sections with a few clicks.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Want to reuse a summer sale page for your fall lineup?
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Done.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Need to drop your bestseller section into five tabs?
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Easy.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Huge time saver, especially for brands managing multiple product categories or prepping for Prime Day.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Before we move on to Amazon's latest billboard experiment, quick sidebar.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Because if all of this sounds like a full-time job, that's literally what we do.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: At Bellavics, we've helped brands sell over$500 million on Amazon.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: We're a verified ad partner and we specialize in hands-on growth strategies that turn marketplace chaos into clear plans of action.

- 4:53SPEAKER_00: Head to Bellavix.com if you want a team that actually knows what the inside of Seller Central looks like.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: Now, back to the news.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: And yes, that giant Amazon billboard might actually be selling your product.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Here's how they're testing it.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Amazon tests out of home ads with scientific precision.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: In the UK, Amazon ran a field study linking billboard exposure to online behavior, page views, branded searches, and conversions.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And it worked.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: The link between offline ads and online sales is no longer guesswork.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: This could open the door for out-of-home ads to become part of Amazon's media mix, and if they bring it into DSP, it's game on.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: But even with billboards and branding, the numbers still matter.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: And right now, tariffs are making e-commerce forecasts just fuzzy enough to stress everyone out.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: How tariffs are shaping Amazon sales forecasts.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Stratable's June benchmark shows one in five brands are lowering their forecasts due to tariff concerns.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Most are holding steady, but non-CPG brands are adjusting faster and deeper.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: If your landed costs are creeping up, you're not alone.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: But this isn't panic mode.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: It's planning mode.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Adjust your expectations, sure, but don't overcorrect.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Prime day is coming.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: Keep your powder dry.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: On the brighter side, Amazon Ads is now handing you video content on a silver platter.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: AI generated, mobile optimized, and no editing skills required.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: Amazon Ads launches Generative AI video tool.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Upload your product images.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: Pick a few prompts.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: Amazon creates a ready-to-go video with text overlays, scene changes, and branding.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: This is a big win for sponsored brands and detail pages.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Small teams and short timelines won't hold you back anymore.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Test it now, especially if your shoppers skew mobile.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And the tech behind that AI, it's getting cooler, literally.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Amazon's data centers are getting a major upgrade.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Amazon invests in liquid cool data centers.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: AWS is now using liquid cooling to power dense, high-performance servers that run AI and cloud infrastructure.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: That matters for one reason.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: Everything we touch on Amazon runs through AWS.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Faster cooling means more power.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: More power means better targeting, faster dashboards, and smarter tools for sellers.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: That same infrastructure is powering a major shift in beauty, where fast-moving brands with strong stories are winning big.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Beauty's big shift.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: BOF X McKinse Report.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: The BOF and McKinsey Beauty Report shows the category growing faster than fashion.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: Amazon is playing a bigger role, especially in the affordable premium space.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Winning brands are launching quickly using search optimized pages and leading with identity and values.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: The middle ground between drugstore and luxury is wide open for marketplace growth.
- 7:52SPEAKER_00: And finally, if you think loyalty is about points and punch cards, Shopify has a different take.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: It's about presence.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Shopify report what really drives customer loyalty in 2025.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: Shopify's loyalty data shows that shoppers care more about consistent experiences than gimmicks.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Personalized offers, seamless touch points, and values-based branding are what drive repeat purchases.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: Omnichannel shoppers spend more and stay longer, so whether they land on your Amazon page, TikTok ad, or email, make every experience count.
