- 0:00Speaker 1: On radio.
- 0:03Speaker 2: She's on The Money Radio Show with Victoria Divine. Starts now,
- 0:10Speaker 2: Hello and welcome to that. She's on the Money Radio
- 0:13Speaker 2: Show podcast, the radio show podcast for millennials who want
- 0:16Speaker 2: financial freedom. I was gonna say, I absolutely now that,
- 0:21Speaker 2: because I know that this whole thing is going to
- 0:23Speaker 2: be about you, Victoria Divine, So I wanted to get
- 0:25Speaker 2: my little moment in the sun before we talk about
- 0:27Speaker 2: your wedding.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Is now when I tell you that I'm the she
- 0:29Speaker 3: and she's on the money.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Oh sorry, I'm actually the he. So the S actually
- 0:34Speaker 1: just stands for sex, and then that that he is
- 0:36Speaker 1: actually me.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Oh that's fantastic.
- 0:38Speaker 3: The other day, came into the studio and Travid put
- 0:41Speaker 3: a sign over the S, so it just said he's
- 0:44Speaker 3: on the money. I was like, you know what, I'll
- 0:45Speaker 3: just see myself out. Thanks for having me. Nice day,
- 0:48Speaker 3: enjoy your day.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Could you imagine a financial show with just me and Mitch?
- 0:53Speaker 3: To be honest, it would be quite good.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Elite people would be so engaged.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I mean, they're probably screwed for a diamond, but that's
- 1:04Speaker 3: okay because they had a good time.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Right, that's a right.
- 1:06Speaker 1: We just sponsored have to be hungry jacks because all
- 1:08Speaker 1: the tips would just be drive through hacks.
- 1:12Speaker 4: Me and my mac is at I'd be one with
- 1:15Speaker 4: the listener.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Questions, what's the thing in your wedding where you were like,
- 1:19Speaker 2: oh my god, I have to have that and it
- 1:20Speaker 2: doesn't matter how much it costs. What was that one
- 1:22Speaker 2: thing that you got?
- 1:23Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good question. I think, you know what.
- 1:27Speaker 3: I think there's two things. One, there was a non
- 1:29Speaker 3: negotiable that whatever wedding venue we had, my dog had
- 1:32Speaker 3: to come because I needed her there. I thought that
- 1:35Speaker 3: that was you know, obviously everything I do is.
- 1:37Speaker 4: With the dog.
- 1:38Speaker 2: She's a flower dog, right, Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 4: She's a flower dog. She's also now the ring bearer.
- 1:42Speaker 3: She's got a little collar with a clip on ring
- 1:44Speaker 3: bearer holder thing, so she's.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Oh no, what if she eats and then you're gonna
- 1:47Speaker 1: have to see it through the pool the next morning.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Yeah, look that. Thankfully, I've got a wedding planner that
- 1:52Speaker 4: can be her problem.
- 1:52Speaker 1: True.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Sorry, sorry, or Gabby who's sitting in the studio here,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're ea, so it's your shoes.
- 2:00Speaker 3: I really like I've got a thing for shoes. I've
- 2:02Speaker 3: talked about it on my podcast A million times before.
- 2:05Speaker 3: I really wanted a beautiful pair of shoes, and so
- 2:09Speaker 3: we kind of just didn't think about the budget on
- 2:11Speaker 3: that one, and thankfully they ended up being far more
- 2:13Speaker 3: reasonable than I thought they might end up being. But
- 2:16Speaker 3: that was where I was like, no expenses the other thing?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Am I lab more than one thing? I feel like
- 2:22Speaker 3: this makes my wedding.
- 2:23Speaker 2: We've already had, mate, so keep going.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Sorry, I really wanted live music.
- 2:28Speaker 3: I didn't realize how like how much things would add
- 2:31Speaker 3: up over time, but I really wanted live music.
- 2:34Speaker 4: So we've gone to So.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Who did you get?
- 2:38Speaker 4: We went with three different people.
- 2:44Speaker 3: I really wish she didn't ask me that because that
- 2:46Speaker 3: makes it sound terrible. But the wedding goes for a
- 2:49Speaker 3: really long time, so we've broken it up. Instead of
- 2:52Speaker 3: paying someone for like the entire period of time.
- 2:55Speaker 2: It actually doesn't until Friday next Friday.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it goes for an entire Week'll strap yourselves in. No, No,
- 3:03Speaker 3: we're born for three different people over that period of time.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Like they're not overlapping or anything.
- 3:08Speaker 3: And to be honest, it ended up being about the
- 3:10Speaker 3: same price as it was going to to have someone
- 3:13Speaker 3: for that entire period because you just pay like their
- 3:15Speaker 3: hourly fees and stuff.
- 3:17Speaker 2: So the funny thing is, Mitch, I was at a
- 3:18Speaker 2: wedding last week and I know that you you know,
- 3:22Speaker 2: the term DJ is very thrown around quite lightly these days,
- 3:26Speaker 2: but yeah, it's pretty easy just to hit play on something.
- 3:28Speaker 2: These guys literally did nothing and they charged like two
- 3:32Speaker 2: and a half grand.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Are you serious?
- 3:33Speaker 3: That's just so salty because I can do that with
- 3:35Speaker 3: the Spotify playlist.
- 3:36Speaker 2: That is essentially what they're doing. That is munny win
- 3:39Speaker 2: for us. Wedding DJ robberies. Can we can we do
- 3:42Speaker 2: a little tag team and get your mine out of
- 3:44Speaker 2: the gun? Mate, I'm talking about being DJs mate, Well
- 3:47Speaker 2: travel Mitch.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Sick.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Wedding DJ, would you turn out to someone's wedding for
- 3:53Speaker 3: two and a half grand?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Absolutely for nothing?
- 3:56Speaker 4: Exactly?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Trav you DJ, Y, I'll MC the wedding, Y split
- 4:02Speaker 2: the money. It's perfect.
- 4:03Speaker 4: You know what, that's a dream team.
- 4:05Speaker 3: One of the hardest things when working out what the
- 4:08Speaker 3: wedding was going to look like, and you know whose
- 4:10Speaker 3: job was what was actually an MC because we actually
- 4:14Speaker 3: have hired our celebrate Megan to come and MC the
- 4:18Speaker 3: rest of the wedding because I just felt like We've
- 4:20Speaker 3: been to so many weddings and I feel like every
- 4:23Speaker 3: time it's like the best man or a friend and
- 4:25Speaker 3: they all have to stay really sober and remember what
- 4:29Speaker 3: to do and keep people on track. And having a
- 4:31Speaker 3: job at our wedding is not something I want a
- 4:32Speaker 3: close friend to have. Just like that does not feel
- 4:36Speaker 3: fair for you to come and have to essentially work,
- 4:39Speaker 3: because you know, you guys probably understand this a bit
- 4:42Speaker 3: more than the average bear, Like MCing is.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Actually full work.
- 4:47Speaker 3: Like it's not like, oh, just can you just tell
- 4:48Speaker 3: them to go inside now, No, there's like a run
- 4:51Speaker 3: sheet and timing and everyone trying to be funny at
- 4:55Speaker 3: the same time as being emotional and getting the point across.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I mean that's really hard for but easy for me.
- 5:01Speaker 1: No.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I experienced that on the weekend. Didn't have a beer
- 5:04Speaker 2: until ten o'clock because it was hectic. And it's the
- 5:06Speaker 2: balance though, of going, Okay, I see the bride and
- 5:09Speaker 2: groom am mingling, but we really need to get the
- 5:11Speaker 2: show on the road.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, Like it's your job to pull things together,
- 5:16Speaker 3: and I think that people really underestimate that role and
- 5:19Speaker 3: just go like get their mate to do it or
- 5:20Speaker 3: their cousin and unless they've got experience, it just makes
- 5:23Speaker 3: me a bit anxious because I've seen it go south before.
- 5:26Speaker 3: And so yeah, we ended up having someone come in
- 5:28Speaker 3: and do that, and I feel like it obviously hasn't
- 5:31Speaker 3: happened yet, but I think that's going to become one
- 5:33Speaker 3: of the best decisions we made because it's also just
- 5:37Speaker 3: a little bit nice. We've got a professional doing it
- 5:39Speaker 3: and everyone's going to be able to have a chill evening.
- 5:42Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Well we chat about that and more, right, all the
- 5:44Speaker 1: other stuff that goes into funding and costing and throwing
- 5:46Speaker 1: a wedding.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was about to say, yeah, we've actually spoken about
- 5:50Speaker 2: spending a heap of money in this podcast here. So
- 5:53Speaker 2: let's get into the show right now where we can
- 5:55Speaker 2: save you some money. Have a great wedding. Victoria Devine,
- 5:59Speaker 2: I love you. We two and that she's on The
- 6:01Speaker 2: Money Radio show starts right now. Yeah, for your Saturday
- 6:04Speaker 2: morning it is. She's on the Money radio show right
- 6:06Speaker 2: across the country with Australia's number one finance podcast of
- 6:10Speaker 2: Victoria Devine. We've got mixtury in here as well.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Hello, I'll tell you what I don't know what's going
- 6:15Speaker 1: on in the news. But every time I try to
- 6:16Speaker 1: watch the block, I get a breaking news update that
- 6:19Speaker 1: says interest rates or the big banks are about to
- 6:22Speaker 1: decide and about to release their statement. Interest rates have
- 6:24Speaker 1: risen highest inflation in forty years. I guess v you'd
- 6:27Speaker 1: be the one to ask, can you explain why this
- 6:30Speaker 1: is happening? And maybe even in layman's terms, like how
- 6:32Speaker 1: does interest rates affect us? Because it can be boring
- 6:34Speaker 1: and dry.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Yeah, so it actually happened to spite you, Midge, so
- 6:38Speaker 3: that it's even more unaffordable for a person's a millennial
- 6:41Speaker 3: or agen x or whatever the hell you are these
- 6:43Speaker 3: days to get Propertiesnial.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Do you feel spited? Is that one?
- 6:47Speaker 3: Now?
- 6:47Speaker 2: You know?
- 6:48Speaker 1: I walked past CommBank the other day and the attendant
- 6:50Speaker 1: at the teller looked at me and gave me stank
- 6:51Speaker 1: kind I thought the interest rates were about to rise.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I just had a feeling. I know, I knew it
- 6:55Speaker 1: was because of me.
- 6:56Speaker 4: Honestly, that's exactly how it works. But you are right.
- 6:59Speaker 3: It is the seventh consecutive month that we have had
- 7:02Speaker 3: an interest rate rise here in Australia, and I'm.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Not gonna lie. I kind of felt like this one
- 7:07Speaker 4: was coming.
- 7:07Speaker 3: Having spoken to our brokers in the business, they were like, yeah,
- 7:10Speaker 3: it's just gonna happen, like everyone's talking about it. And
- 7:12Speaker 3: I was like, surely we're not going to tip into
- 7:14Speaker 3: the seventh month.
- 7:15Speaker 4: But we have. On the first of November, they.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Announced that they were lifting the cash rate again by
- 7:20Speaker 3: twenty five points, so that meant it went up by
- 7:23Speaker 3: point two five percent, So it's now at two point
- 7:26Speaker 3: eight five percent. But basically it means that the back
- 7:29Speaker 3: to back rate hikes that have happened over the last
- 7:32Speaker 3: seven months have added eight hundred and fifteen dollars per
- 7:36Speaker 3: month to a.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Five hundred thousand dollars mortgage.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Oh my god, So when's it going to stop? Like
- 7:41Speaker 1: do you think we've reached critical mass? Like is this
- 7:43Speaker 1: the CAP or the RBA just going to keep on
- 7:45Speaker 1: hiking it up? And they can't just keep doing it now.
- 7:47Speaker 3: They can though, so they come because we currently are
- 7:50Speaker 3: in a circumstance where our inflation is so high, so
- 7:54Speaker 3: pushing mortgages off the table. We are actually talking about
- 7:58Speaker 3: everything being more expensive. I'm pretty sure macers, chippies were
- 8:00Speaker 3: more expensive the other day, Mitch.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So wait, wait, wait, so the cash rate can influence everything,
- 8:05Speaker 1: even my steam macus cheeseburger with an extra slice of bacon.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So the cash rate is usually increased, which is happening
- 8:11Speaker 3: right now, to try and mitigate what's happening with the
- 8:14Speaker 3: inflation and with this rising CPI. So what is happening
- 8:17Speaker 3: is CPI, and inflation is basically the increasing costs of
- 8:21Speaker 3: goods and services. So CPI is the consumer price index.
- 8:24Speaker 3: And that's basically if you've got a basket of groceries,
- 8:26Speaker 3: and I said Mitch, ten years ago, go to Woolies,
- 8:29Speaker 3: buy groceries up to the value of thirty dollars, you'd
- 8:32Speaker 3: be able to put way more groceries in that basket
- 8:34Speaker 3: ten years ago than you would today because everything is
- 8:37Speaker 3: just so much more expensive. So in order to try
- 8:40Speaker 3: and balance that out and make sure that inflation doesn't
- 8:43Speaker 3: keep going through the roof, what our government does is
- 8:46Speaker 3: increase our cash rate because they want things to be
- 8:49Speaker 3: a little bit more expensive at top dog level so
- 8:52Speaker 3: that the bottom dog level, i e. Us buying steam
- 8:55Speaker 3: buns at macs, everything isn't going to be feeling as impactful.
- 8:59Speaker 4: So it's in important obviously I said before.
- 9:01Speaker 3: It's adding an extra eight hundred and fifteen dollars per
- 9:04Speaker 3: month to the average five hundred thousand dollar mortgage, which
- 9:07Speaker 3: to me is insane. Like imagine being told one month,
- 9:10Speaker 3: by the way, you have to find this much more
- 9:11Speaker 3: to cough up, which is insane. I think the misconception
- 9:14Speaker 3: here is that this only impacts people with mortgages, but
- 9:17Speaker 3: it doesn't. It impacts absolutely everybody in our economy at
- 9:20Speaker 3: this point in time.
- 9:21Speaker 1: God, So what you're saying, V, is someone I don't know,
- 9:23Speaker 1: for example, would be crazy to have a wedding in
- 9:26Speaker 1: the middle of an economy like this. It'd be just
- 9:28Speaker 1: so stupid, it.
- 9:29Speaker 4: Would be so dumb.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Honestly, I don't even know who gets married these days,
- 9:33Speaker 3: espe on a day like the Saturday, the fifth.
- 9:36Speaker 4: Of Like, do you know who who's committed to their job?
- 9:41Speaker 4: Mitche me?
- 9:42Speaker 2: Speaking of budgets, V, you wouldn't have had one for
- 9:44Speaker 2: your wedding, would you.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Oh?
- 9:45Speaker 3: Well, I probably should have thought about this before today.
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's literally hours away. You're getting married. We have a
- 9:50Speaker 1: live stream of the church. Now, let's just have to
- 9:52Speaker 1: connect that through to the to the Oh they're getting
- 9:56Speaker 1: ready for Victoria the belt.
- 9:58Speaker 3: You're going to be as disappoint owned as some family members.
- 10:01Speaker 3: I'm not getting married in the church. Oh no, yeah,
- 10:06Speaker 3: I was going to just slide up in flames. So
- 10:08Speaker 3: I decided that would probably ruin my wedding.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Oh my god, I can imagine. Well hold on, well,
- 10:12Speaker 1: we just spoke about the cash raid inflation rates. It's
- 10:14Speaker 1: at all time high. What actually goes into getting married?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Because I know it sounds done, but I think, like,
- 10:19Speaker 1: all right, you get the dress that's like one thousand,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I don't know, you get like a nice cake, Sure,
- 10:24Speaker 1: get like some flowers at some tables in the higher
- 10:26Speaker 1: revenue like ten grand max. Like that's where my brain goes,
- 10:30Speaker 1: Am I wrong?
- 10:30Speaker 3: Look, no, it's a lot more than that. In fact,
- 10:33Speaker 3: before this episode, I was like, do you know what,
- 10:35Speaker 3: I'll brush up on the averages and it's made me
- 10:37Speaker 3: feel a little bit sick because.
- 10:39Speaker 4: I think what I'm going to be over the average.
- 10:41Speaker 3: So moneysmart dot gov dot AU says that the average
- 10:44Speaker 3: Australian wedding costs thirty six thousand dollars and that eighty
- 10:48Speaker 3: two percent of couples dip into their savings to pay
- 10:51Speaker 3: for their wedding.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Another sixty percent.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Of couples get a loan for their wedding, and eighteen
- 10:57Speaker 3: percent of couples are putting everything on their credit card.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Oh no, is that bad or is that good?
- 11:02Speaker 3: I don't think you should be starting a marriage with debt,
- 11:05Speaker 3: especially to have a one day party. Please don't get
- 11:08Speaker 3: me wrong. I'm so excited for my wedding, But one
- 11:11Speaker 3: thing that my partner and I were on the same
- 11:13Speaker 3: page about is making sure that everything that we are
- 11:15Speaker 3: doing is being paid for in cash. And to be honest,
- 11:17Speaker 3: it's why we're getting married so late in our relationship
- 11:20Speaker 3: in a way.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Like we've been together like what.
- 11:23Speaker 3: Nearly eight years or so, so okay, but we've had
- 11:26Speaker 3: these open, honest conversations where we were like, you know what,
- 11:29Speaker 3: we don't want to get married until we've bought a house,
- 11:31Speaker 3: Like to us, that was the priority, and getting on
- 11:33Speaker 3: the property ladder with something that we really wanted to
- 11:36Speaker 3: do before we got married. But each to their own, like,
- 11:39Speaker 3: I'm not going to judge your values as long as
- 11:40Speaker 3: you don't judge mine. But to contrast that, I saw
- 11:44Speaker 3: another's stat somewhere. The average Australian wedding has been increasing
- 11:48Speaker 3: post COVID and the new average is looking closer to
- 11:51Speaker 3: fifty four thousand dollars, So.
- 11:53Speaker 4: That's thirty six.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Like that is just so much money, Like that's more
- 11:57Speaker 3: than a family minivan.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Guys, okay, that's two Toiragos. Give me some cost saving tips.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Because I don't know if you've announced this, and I
- 12:06Speaker 1: don't know if we're allowed to talk about it, but
- 12:07Speaker 1: travs she might yell at us because she told us
- 12:09Speaker 1: this in the break but me, and if you're a
- 12:11Speaker 1: guest going to Victoria's wedding getting ready listening to us,
- 12:14Speaker 1: you ain't getting no cake at this wedding.
- 12:15Speaker 2: She's skimmed.
- 12:16Speaker 4: No skimped cake is trash. We're not having a wedding cake. Wow.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Look I grew up doing weddings as a waitress. But
- 12:24Speaker 3: every single wedding, after all the guests had gone and
- 12:28Speaker 3: we're clearing the reception tables, they'd just be plate of
- 12:31Speaker 3: cake with a little bit of berry coolly and like
- 12:33Speaker 3: a scoop of the whipped cree and a lot of
- 12:36Speaker 3: fond it and nobody was eating it. So when it
- 12:39Speaker 3: came to our wedding, I was like, Steven, we are
- 12:41Speaker 3: not having a cake. Let's just do something that's more
- 12:44Speaker 3: aligned to us. So instead of having a fancy cake,
- 12:47Speaker 3: we just picked our favorite dessert, which is obviously apple crumble,
- 12:50Speaker 3: and we're having that at our wedding. And I kind
- 12:52Speaker 3: don't mind what people think, because this day isn't.
- 12:55Speaker 4: About them, is it.
- 12:56Speaker 1: If you're going to the wedding, maybe stop by seven,
- 12:58Speaker 1: I'll having get some crispy cremes because you're them by
- 13:01Speaker 1: okake from a cake dilemma to money dilemmas.
- 13:04Speaker 2: If you're struggling with your cash flow, you got yourself
- 13:07Speaker 2: in a little bit of a situation. You can hit
- 13:09Speaker 2: us up anytime on She's on the Money on Socials.
- 13:13Speaker 2: This is She's on the Money radio show. Guys, it
- 13:16Speaker 2: is time to do this.
- 13:19Speaker 1: You know. This segment every week reminds me that Victoria,
- 13:21Speaker 1: you really are a wealth of knowledge, a source for
- 13:24Speaker 1: all of us to dip into when we are at
- 13:26Speaker 1: our darkest times. I can send these to your future husband.
- 13:29Speaker 1: He can add them to the vows, because.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Actually that would be really good. Yeah, I don't know
- 13:33Speaker 4: how he's going with ours.
- 13:34Speaker 3: If we're honest, is that something you should think about
- 13:36Speaker 3: just in the moment, like from the heart, She'll be.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Right from the heart. Well, this is definitely from the heart.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Every week we do a money dilemma and we get
- 13:43Speaker 1: someone's financial story on the air. To get Victoria's advice,
- 13:47Speaker 1: Luise send us a DM about her mum's superannuation.
- 13:49Speaker 2: She says, Hello, the me.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Mom is in her early sixties, she's just retired from work,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and she doesn't have any savings. She's going to be
- 13:55Speaker 1: relying on her SUPER payout until she gets her pension age.
- 13:59Speaker 1: She does doesn't have a lot of super due to age.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Of course, I would really like to be able to
- 14:04Speaker 1: support her. How can I best do this? And what
- 14:06Speaker 1: advice would you give me?
- 14:07Speaker 3: Mom? This is a good question because all of us
- 14:10Speaker 3: think and Mitch, you and I are probably in the
- 14:12Speaker 3: same boat, not as trap because tribes are like basically
- 14:14Speaker 3: old already, So like, yeah, he's probably like all over
- 14:17Speaker 3: the super thing.
- 14:18Speaker 4: Actually, yeah, exactly what the canes for.
- 14:21Speaker 3: But when we talk about supernuation, it feels so far
- 14:25Speaker 3: away that it doesn't seem like a priority in the moment,
- 14:28Speaker 3: but it really is, because these are the circumstances that
- 14:31Speaker 3: a lot of people in their sixties are now stepping into.
- 14:34Speaker 4: So caring about.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Super is really important because it's going to put future
- 14:38Speaker 3: you in a good financial position. In saying that, a
- 14:41Speaker 3: lot of people in their sixties right now didn't have
- 14:44Speaker 3: compulsory SUPER because that was brought in in nineteen ninety two.
- 14:47Speaker 3: So everybody in this circumstance might have grown up in
- 14:50Speaker 3: a time where contributing to SUPER didn't happen until they
- 14:53Speaker 3: were in their forties or something like that, because it
- 14:55Speaker 3: just wasn't something that's been around forever. So it's important
- 14:59Speaker 3: to care about it. But the best way you can
- 15:01Speaker 3: actually support your mum during this time is to sit
- 15:04Speaker 3: down and do some budgeting and some cash flow. It's
- 15:06Speaker 3: not about just throwing money that way. It's about actually
- 15:10Speaker 3: fully comprehending and understanding your circumstances. So when we're talking
- 15:14Speaker 3: about SUPER, yeah, it's great, it's a tool that you
- 15:17Speaker 3: can use, but I would actually be reaching out to
- 15:19Speaker 3: either a financial advisor or a financial counselor or someone
- 15:23Speaker 3: that can help you understand how to best marry superinuation
- 15:27Speaker 3: with that potential pension so you make the most of
- 15:30Speaker 3: both circumstances, and also to review where your mum is
- 15:34Speaker 3: at today, because there's a rule called deeming, and I
- 15:37Speaker 3: mean I'm not an accountant, so don't quote me on this.
- 15:39Speaker 3: You will need to talk to one, but your financial
- 15:41Speaker 3: life will be audited and they will look at the
- 15:44Speaker 3: assets you have, and based on the assets you have
- 15:46Speaker 3: and how much money you have in super is going
- 15:49Speaker 3: to tell the government how much to pay you in
- 15:50Speaker 3: a pension. So it's worth thinking about now so that
- 15:53Speaker 3: you can best prepare yourself for the future, because a
- 15:56Speaker 3: lot of people think, oh my gosh, I'm going to
- 15:57Speaker 3: have to sell my family home to get the pension,
- 16:00Speaker 3: But your family home isn't included in this deeming. It's
- 16:02Speaker 3: actually excluded. So being on the right page, getting the
- 16:05Speaker 3: right advice is going to put you in the best
- 16:07Speaker 3: possible circumstance. So the advice that I would give to
- 16:10Speaker 3: your mum.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Is just be educated on this space.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Don't bury your head in the sound because it doesn't
- 16:15Speaker 3: feel like the place you want to be right now.
- 16:17Speaker 4: I totally get that.
- 16:19Speaker 3: But what you can do is be really empowered by
- 16:21Speaker 3: that circumstance and go all right, well, this is what
- 16:23Speaker 3: we're working with. How do we make the most of it?
- 16:25Speaker 1: And also, Luise, don't forget I mean, I'm not the
- 16:27Speaker 1: financial advisor here, but.
- 16:29Speaker 4: I'm not either anymore, Michie I retired.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Neither of us are financial advisors here. However, you've got
- 16:34Speaker 1: the negotiating power. You say, Mum, you put me in
- 16:36Speaker 1: the wheel and I'll give you a bit of pocket money. Okay,
- 16:38Speaker 1: you know, I'll just say it sounds good.
- 16:40Speaker 4: If you don't put me in the will, I'm gonna
- 16:41Speaker 4: put you in the home.
- 16:42Speaker 2: It's good. If you've got a question for us, to
- 16:46Speaker 2: hit us up search. Shees on the money anywhere on socials.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Let's save some people some money with this super save
- 16:52Speaker 2: a Saturday.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yes, every single Saturday morning, Victoria gives us some sneaky
- 16:56Speaker 1: tips on how to keep more bucks in her bank
- 16:58Speaker 1: account in your bank accoun actually and hers because she
- 17:01Speaker 1: uses them too. Oh my, you got a coffee shop
- 17:03Speaker 1: with Victoria? She gets a note tap at she goes,
- 17:05Speaker 1: what hack do I have for a ham?
- 17:06Speaker 2: And Cha's croissant? She got a hack for everything?
- 17:08Speaker 1: Victoria, So what do I have?
- 17:09Speaker 2: Frut?
- 17:10Speaker 4: You know what my hack there is?
- 17:11Speaker 2: And it worked.
- 17:12Speaker 4: Last time we were at the cafe.
- 17:13Speaker 3: I was like, oh, Mitch, I forgot my wallet and
- 17:15Speaker 3: then you paid because I was turned out. But if
- 17:17Speaker 3: you did not think that I was going to make
- 17:19Speaker 3: these hacks all about me and the fact that I'm
- 17:21Speaker 3: getting married today. You were sorely wrong because the first
- 17:24Speaker 3: tip I've got after going through everything, and while I
- 17:27Speaker 3: don't regret how much we are about to spend on
- 17:29Speaker 3: florals for this wedding, I do realize that they're really,
- 17:32Speaker 3: really expensive. And if you're not having a massive wedding
- 17:35Speaker 3: and you do have the time, why not think about
- 17:37Speaker 3: doing like a non bridal bouquet. Because inflation is crazy.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Things are definitely like, Please don't get me wrong. I
- 17:44Speaker 3: see so much value in the vendors that we have,
- 17:47Speaker 3: but oh my gosh.
- 17:49Speaker 4: The wedding tax is absolutely true.
- 17:51Speaker 3: I feel like the second you inquire somewhere, they're like, yeah.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Here's our packages. Oh it's a wedding. Oh double totally okay,
- 17:57Speaker 4: I totally get it.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Maybe I should have been smarter when inquiring on places like, oh,
- 18:01Speaker 3: I'm just having a celebration.
- 18:03Speaker 4: Yeah we're having a branch having a brunch.
- 18:05Speaker 3: We're all wearing why there'll be one hundred and fifty
- 18:08Speaker 3: people there, but it will be brunch.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, we have dermatitis, will all be in veils.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But it's the sun it's a conference.
- 18:13Speaker 4: It's a conference.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Everyone's going to dress up and it's going to be
- 18:16Speaker 3: really fun. The next tip is instead of invitations, because
- 18:21Speaker 3: wedding stationary can be so expensive. And it's not just
- 18:24Speaker 3: the design because obviously, if you're getting a graphic designer
- 18:27Speaker 3: to do the work, YEP, pay them for their time,
- 18:29Speaker 3: but the paper that it's printed on is really expensive,
- 18:31Speaker 3: then you're probably gonna want the matching envelope. What you're
- 18:34Speaker 3: not forgetting is that if you're anything like me, then
- 18:37Speaker 3: you also want the little stamp on the back, like
- 18:40Speaker 3: the little wax seal and stuff, because I'm f But
- 18:43Speaker 3: then on top of that, a dollar ten to send
- 18:45Speaker 3: one invitation out and then you know what has to happen.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Your guests have to send back your RSVP, so that
- 18:52Speaker 3: then costs them a dollar ten, and a dollar ten
- 18:54Speaker 3: doesn't sound expensive until it all starts adding up.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Crue that send them a text for God's sake, world,
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'll go you.
- 19:01Speaker 3: One better do an email or there are so many websites.
- 19:05Speaker 3: It sounds really complicated, and that's why I didn't do
- 19:08Speaker 3: enough research into it until post actually sending out the
- 19:11Speaker 3: invites and they're all actually done for you, and they
- 19:13Speaker 3: are made for people like me who have never done
- 19:15Speaker 3: a website before.
- 19:16Speaker 4: It's a bloody money win from my perspective.
- 19:18Speaker 1: All right, last one, but you got to get to
- 19:20Speaker 1: the wedding. V. I've just got a text from the priest.
- 19:22Speaker 1: He said, where is V.
- 19:23Speaker 4: There's no priest at my wedding, so you're just making
- 19:25Speaker 4: absolute chua to dat.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 19:28Speaker 3: My tip number three is photography and videography can get
- 19:31Speaker 3: really expensive when it comes to weddings. Have a look
- 19:34Speaker 3: for someone up and coming who maybe isn't charging as
- 19:36Speaker 3: much at this point in their career. I'm sure that
- 19:39Speaker 3: they are going to put in just as much love.
- 19:41Speaker 2: All right, you've got to get out of here.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I've got to get married.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Oh I got trapped. That's the live feed from the wedding.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Poor STEVEO has been standing there since eight o'clock this morning. Hey,
- 19:51Speaker 2: if you've got a tip, you can hit us up
- 19:52Speaker 2: on socials anytime. But we're going to catch you next week.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Make sure you stick around, Mitch Cherry, You're going to
- 19:58Speaker 2: do the Life Uncut radio show next us. I am
- 20:02Speaker 2: out of here. Happy wedding, Victoria.
- 20:04Speaker 1: We love you. Have the bedtime and listen, get that
- 20:07Speaker 1: garter down and have some.
- 20:09Speaker 4: Also be no wedding garden, no cake, no garden. There's
- 20:12Speaker 4: a lot of nose at my wedding.
- 20:13Speaker 2: So we'll see you when you're a married woman.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Dake v.
