- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to the She Rises Podcast. I'm Ashley and I'm Tiana.
- 0:14Speaker 3: This podcast is about female empowerment and encouraging you to
- 0:17Speaker 3: be your biggest, boldest, and most authentic version of yourself.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We help you shed the shame, grow to a new level.
- 0:23Speaker 2: We're gonna laugh, cry, and talk about the topics everyone
- 0:26Speaker 2: else is too afraid to talk about.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Get ready for your next level of self.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Hello everybody, Welcome back to She Rises. A Monday episode
- 0:34Speaker 2: a bit of a juicy one. But before we get in,
- 0:37Speaker 2: as always, we do a share of the Week where
- 0:38Speaker 2: we share something that we want to recommend that we've loved,
- 0:41Speaker 2: we're obsessed with, enjoyed, So watch yours for the week.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Honestly, mine is Benson Boone. His music.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he seems like a legend. Do you know
- 0:49Speaker 2: he's only twenty two years old. Really he's so young?
- 0:51Speaker 2: Oh wow, Yeah I know that.
- 0:53Speaker 3: No, I don't know. I just like I've been really
- 0:55Speaker 3: loving his music at the moment, and I find when
- 0:57Speaker 3: I'm in the car and by myself, all I want
- 0:59Speaker 3: to do is put on his music and like jam
- 1:00Speaker 3: out and it honestly, it just like makes my day.
- 1:03Speaker 3: I highly recommend very cool.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Mine is an app called Headway. I beat myself up
- 1:09Speaker 2: for not reading as much as what I would like to.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I want to read more and I want to be
- 1:13Speaker 2: more self development books, but I just don't seem to
- 1:15Speaker 2: get through them, but listening to them I find easier.
- 1:18Speaker 2: So I found this app and it basically any self
- 1:21Speaker 2: development book, any book. It condenses down, so instead of
- 1:24Speaker 2: it being a five hour book to listen to, it's
- 1:26Speaker 2: condensed down to fifteen minutes and it takes all the
- 1:29Speaker 2: best points, so it's bite sized chunks, which I love
- 1:32Speaker 2: in podcasts too, I'm all for a long podcast. We
- 1:35Speaker 2: do podcasting. I love an hour episode, but I think
- 1:37Speaker 2: it's a diary of the CEO. He'll take chunks from
- 1:40Speaker 2: a long episode and put it into ten minutes and
- 1:42Speaker 2: you can just get the best bits of it. So
- 1:43Speaker 2: it does this for a whole book. So I've already
- 1:45Speaker 2: listened to like four ones around parenting, and it's just
- 1:48Speaker 2: got the best tips around parenting right having to listen
- 1:51Speaker 2: to the whole damn book. So Headway and there's obviously
- 1:54Speaker 2: you can choose whatever subject you like. You type in
- 1:56Speaker 2: the search bar, health, anxiety, parenting, whatever, and there's all
- 2:00Speaker 2: these books and you can just pay a subscription and
- 2:02Speaker 2: listen to them. Wow, headway really really good.
- 2:05Speaker 3: That's my share of the week.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh I love it all Right, let's get into today's episode.
- 2:09Speaker 2: So I've been online for over fifteen years now. I've
- 2:13Speaker 2: shared a lot of my life, and as you guys know,
- 2:15Speaker 2: or if you knew here, I've had my fair share
- 2:18Speaker 2: of online trolls, online bullying, to the point where I
- 2:20Speaker 2: didn't even want to be here anymore. I felt suffocated,
- 2:23Speaker 2: I was drowning. It took over my life, really affected
- 2:26Speaker 2: my mental health, and I think it was when I
- 2:29Speaker 2: was going through it really intensely, cancer culture wasn't really
- 2:33Speaker 2: a thing. I felt like I was one of the first,
- 2:35Speaker 2: not the first, but I did feel like I was
- 2:37Speaker 2: in the early stage of that being a thing, so
- 2:40Speaker 2: I didn't really have anyone else to relate to the understood.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I remember going to events and asking other big influences.
- 2:46Speaker 2: They're like, we get hate, but nothing like what you're getting. Wow.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Made me feel so alone and it was really affected
- 2:53Speaker 2: my life. So nowadays it's quite common you see all
- 2:56Speaker 2: over TikTok, everyone having their opinions on people's lives, and
- 3:00Speaker 2: it's this expectation of, Oh, you put your life out online,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you should expect hate. Yeah, no, you should not expect hate.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Being online does not mean that you have to verbally
- 3:10Speaker 2: type out every single thought that you have. You can
- 3:13Speaker 2: easily scroll along or have event and bitch to your
- 3:15Speaker 2: best friend or your husband. But it's so normalized and
- 3:19Speaker 2: accepted that everyone can just have their two cents on
- 3:22Speaker 2: your life, on the way your parent, on the way
- 3:24Speaker 2: you look, on what you change, on what you decide
- 3:26Speaker 2: to do, how you live your life. And it's hard.
- 3:29Speaker 2: So today's episode is all about Indie Clinton and what
- 3:33Speaker 2: she's actually doing to take a stance for online bullying.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And it's been really cool for me to follow along
- 3:38Speaker 2: and just see how brave she is because I just know,
- 3:41Speaker 2: I don't know, but I'm assuming the emotional mental headspace
- 3:44Speaker 2: she's in right now, I think is very similar to
- 3:47Speaker 2: where I was eight years ago. First of all, who
- 3:48Speaker 2: is Indie Clinton. She's a not on the influencer. She's
- 3:50Speaker 2: a mom of three. She shares her life, she shares
- 3:53Speaker 2: a chaotic day to day living in these vlogs, and
- 3:56Speaker 2: she shows her kids a lot, and that's how she's
- 3:58Speaker 2: gotten famous. She run Content Creative the Year last year
- 4:00Speaker 2: for the TikTok Awards. She's very very famous in Australia
- 4:03Speaker 2: and the world now like Rihanna flew over to America
- 4:05Speaker 2: to go to a fenty event. Oh wow.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Very well known, and she's just very authentic. She's very
- 4:11Speaker 2: I suppose controversial with the way that she parents. She's
- 4:14Speaker 2: I kind of let your kids do what they want
- 4:15Speaker 2: to do and figure it out and make mistakes, and
- 4:17Speaker 2: they're messy and they're loud, and I love it. I think,
- 4:20Speaker 2: just live your life, however, feels good for her. She's
- 4:22Speaker 2: unapologetically herself, but of course comes along with that a
- 4:25Speaker 2: lot of hate, a lot of people judging and criticizing
- 4:27Speaker 2: everything that she does. She recently had cosmetic surgery on
- 4:30Speaker 2: her nose, which she copped so much hate about, so
- 4:34Speaker 2: much hate, and it's I hate seeing it, like you
- 4:37Speaker 2: just be scrolling and they'll be everyone just having their
- 4:39Speaker 2: two cents on what she's doing with her life. And
- 4:41Speaker 2: the bullying's gotten really, really bad. So a couple of
- 4:44Speaker 2: months ago, she decided to hire a private investigator to
- 4:48Speaker 2: find these faceless trolls online.
- 4:51Speaker 5: TikTok Creator of the Year and now potentially cyberbulling advocate
- 4:54Speaker 5: in Ni Clinton sydy Internet into a stir yesterday by
- 4:57Speaker 5: posting a tich clok saying that she had a sixty
- 4:59Speaker 5: four page report from a private investigator on all the
- 5:03Speaker 5: information about the people that have been harrassed her online.
- 5:06Speaker 5: She said that they have been bullying, defamed, and trolling her.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Let's break those three down.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Bullying and trolling being criminal, defaming being civil civil. We've
- 5:14Speaker 5: spoken about the course of action that she can take.
- 5:17Speaker 5: The elements of defamation have to be met. That's publication, loss,
- 5:21Speaker 5: et cetera, et cetera. It is a federal crime at
- 5:23Speaker 5: section four seven four dot seventeen of the Federal Criminal Code.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Two.
- 5:27Speaker 5: Let's read it using a carriage service to menace, harass,
- 5:30Speaker 5: or cause offense.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I think so bullying fulfills that six and one.
- 5:35Speaker 5: A person commits an offense if they use a carriage service,
- 5:37Speaker 5: and the person does so in a way where, whether
- 5:39Speaker 5: by the method of use or the content of the communication,
- 5:41Speaker 5: or both, that reasonable persons would regard as being in
- 5:43Speaker 5: all circumstances, menacing, harassing, or offensive.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Now Indy has complained about these mums.
- 5:48Speaker 5: I think that mount constantly putting negative content on the Internet.
- 5:52Speaker 1: She is in New South Wales.
- 5:54Speaker 5: She also has the New South Wales amendments called Dolly's Law.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Now Dolly's Law are the amendments to the Crimes Domestic
- 6:00Speaker 5: Personal Violence Act two thousand and seven. These came after
- 6:04Speaker 5: unfortunately Amy Dolly Everett, a fourteen year old girl and
- 6:08Speaker 5: alive to herself due to cyber bullying.
- 6:10Speaker 1: It is a serious thing to do.
- 6:12Speaker 5: People don't understand how farther comments go and how they
- 6:14Speaker 5: negatively affect creators all other people on the other.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Side of the throne.
- 6:18Speaker 5: So New South Wales's government has stepped in and now
- 6:20Speaker 5: the maximum sentence that you can get is five years
- 6:22Speaker 5: in prison for committing these things.
- 6:24Speaker 3: This is actually something that she said on her stories.
- 6:27Speaker 3: You told me about this.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Actually this is how I first heard about it.
- 6:30Speaker 3: I just want to share like a little bit of
- 6:31Speaker 3: a recording of her stories, and it was interesting what
- 6:33Speaker 3: she says.
- 6:34Speaker 6: A lot of you are from Melbourne, Victoria.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Not all of you, but a lot of you are
- 6:39Speaker 1: from there.
- 6:39Speaker 6: I don't know if it was the COVID lockdowns that
- 6:41Speaker 6: brought this energy out in you, or if if you
- 6:44Speaker 6: were born this way, but it's very toxic.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Some of the information I found out many of you
- 6:51Speaker 4: are mothers, which I think is most surprising to me
- 6:54Speaker 4: because I'm like, oh my god, no wonder if bullying
- 6:57Speaker 4: and cyber bullying never stops, because you literally just gave
- 7:00Speaker 4: birth to and.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Raising a bully because you're a bully, and how you
- 7:02Speaker 6: ever in a breakdown cycle anyway? That But I literally
- 7:07Speaker 6: know every detail, down to your ABN and down to
- 7:09Speaker 6: where you gave birth at Francis Pirie Hospital.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It carries on. She talks about other personal information that
- 7:16Speaker 2: she now knows about these people. But at the end
- 7:18Speaker 2: of the day, it's just like, you're not anonymous. You
- 7:20Speaker 2: can have your profile as user Underscore five three eight
- 7:23Speaker 2: five two three or whatever it is, and not have
- 7:26Speaker 2: a profile photo. But a private investigator apparently can find
- 7:29Speaker 2: you in as lul as five minutes, where you live,
- 7:32Speaker 2: your family, you're gynecologist, your accountant.
- 7:34Speaker 3: And so you go to wood So they should.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Because people think I've newly learned this. They think that
- 7:40Speaker 2: you can hide behind a fake profile, But as I've
- 7:44Speaker 2: now learned, it's very easier for a private investigator to
- 7:46Speaker 2: find out everything about that person, no doubt. So she
- 7:49Speaker 2: jumped on her Instagram stories. I don't really see her
- 7:52Speaker 2: stories that much. I'm w'n watch her on TikTok, and
- 7:54Speaker 2: she explained that the last couple of months she has
- 7:56Speaker 2: been investigating, well, the private investigator's been investigating her main
- 8:00Speaker 2: trolls that go on and try to destroy her life
- 8:01Speaker 2: and bring her down. And she knows where they live,
- 8:04Speaker 2: she knows what tide they have, she knows where they work,
- 8:07Speaker 2: they're family members, she knows everything about them. And she's
- 8:09Speaker 2: taking this whole situation to court, and she's not just
- 8:12Speaker 2: doing it for herself, but she's obviously doing it for
- 8:14Speaker 2: our younger generation. She has children. She doesn't want them
- 8:16Speaker 2: growing up in a world where this is just acceptable
- 8:18Speaker 2: and something you have to learn how to live with,
- 8:21Speaker 2: because you shouldn't have to learn to live with that
- 8:23Speaker 2: level of hate. And it's crazy to me too, because
- 8:26Speaker 2: when you are online, everyone wants you to be honest, raw, real,
- 8:30Speaker 2: don't lie, like, tell us all the details. But then
- 8:33Speaker 2: someone like her who is all of that, then you're
- 8:35Speaker 2: opening yourself up to so much judgment and criticism, and
- 8:39Speaker 2: you wonder why people just post a highlight reel. Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you're fucking scared because if they actually show what they're
- 8:45Speaker 2: going through, or they show what they've decided to do,
- 8:47Speaker 2: walk work they've gotten done, or anything like that that
- 8:50Speaker 2: everyone's nosy and wants to know. They cop shit for it.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So I really feel for it at the moment, but
- 8:55Speaker 2: I'm really excited to see where this goes. So there's
- 8:58Speaker 2: a couple of main gossip pages. I'm not even gonna
- 9:00Speaker 2: name what they are because anyone listening, I don't want
- 9:01Speaker 2: you to go have a look at them. You would
- 9:03Speaker 2: go in there for five minutes and your energy and
- 9:06Speaker 2: vibration would lower. It'd honestly feels sick at the shit
- 9:08Speaker 2: that you would read about the people that you love
- 9:10Speaker 2: to follow online. Any person that has an online profile
- 9:14Speaker 2: that is somewhat known, there will be hundreds of threads
- 9:17Speaker 2: about them about everything they do say where parent like,
- 9:21Speaker 2: literally it's disgusting. I have not been in there for years.
- 9:25Speaker 2: The only time I see something is if someone's screenshots
- 9:27Speaker 2: and sends it to me. For example, I have someone
- 9:30Speaker 2: that lives behind me that can see into my backyard,
- 9:32Speaker 2: so I was going to send all the screenshots of
- 9:34Speaker 2: what she was posting into this forum. She was saying
- 9:37Speaker 2: when my son went to school. She took photos of
- 9:39Speaker 2: my kids naked in our backyard because yes, my kids
- 9:41Speaker 2: were running around naked in the pool and whatever, the
- 9:43Speaker 2: photos of them. She knew when my cleaner arrived, she
- 9:46Speaker 2: knew when my nanny arrived. They have times of schedules.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That's so on the weekend I would sunbake topless. She
- 9:53Speaker 2: took photos of that. It's so friggin creepy.
- 9:55Speaker 3: So that's so weird.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Yeah, there's like two main big forums and India's private
- 10:01Speaker 2: investigator has found out who owns one of them. And
- 10:03Speaker 2: it's ran by a forty three year old male. What
- 10:09Speaker 2: a male? That's wild?
- 10:11Speaker 3: Leave that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: No, I'm shook.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I just don't understand what.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Grown man like Steve doesn't want to hear anything gossiping.
- 10:20Speaker 3: He doesn't want bar of it.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Even if I ever tell him something that's happening online,
- 10:22Speaker 2: He's like, I just don't care for it. Like, eh,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I'm dad, I work a hideaway.
- 10:26Speaker 3: It got bigger fish to fry, bigger fish to fry, fry.
- 10:29Speaker 2: What grown man is running and okay and feels good
- 10:33Speaker 2: about having this place where people can just be so
- 10:35Speaker 2: savage and affect people's mental health like that. I could
- 10:38Speaker 2: just go like, I'm scratching my head, be like how
- 10:39Speaker 2: why is.
- 10:41Speaker 3: He someone's dad?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Like is that? Do you know what I mean?
- 10:42Speaker 3: Does he have a partner?
- 10:43Speaker 2: Like? Surely?
- 10:44Speaker 3: Not crazy, surely to believe that that's what you would
- 10:47Speaker 3: do of people online who are creating something for themselves
- 10:50Speaker 3: and trying to make a better life for themselves and
- 10:52Speaker 3: to have something to say about them, Yeah, you could
- 10:54Speaker 3: just be building your own life instead. Like, it just
- 10:56Speaker 3: blows my mind.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Blows my mind. So Indy is taking a lot of
- 10:59Speaker 2: her trolls to court, I'm pretty sure, and she can't
- 11:02Speaker 2: actually save their names online. And then there's this other
- 11:05Speaker 2: couple from the UK that are taking this main site,
- 11:09Speaker 2: this website to court to try and get it taken down.
- 11:12Speaker 2: There was a petition a couple of months ago that
- 11:14Speaker 2: over one hundred and fifty thousand people signed get it
- 11:16Speaker 2: taken down and did nothing. Wow, just bullshit. But this
- 11:20Speaker 2: couple is taking it to court and they've got a
- 11:21Speaker 2: court date. Wow. So hopefully it goes down. I'm sure
- 11:25Speaker 2: other people will start new ones, but it's just yeah,
- 11:28Speaker 2: going to be really interesting to watch it unfold. But
- 11:30Speaker 2: I am just so proud of Indie when she's in
- 11:32Speaker 2: this state. She said, the last couple of months have
- 11:34Speaker 2: been a matter of life and death for her. That's
- 11:36Speaker 2: how low she's been feeling. So for her to one,
- 11:39Speaker 2: put the money and this will be costing one hundreds
- 11:41Speaker 2: of thousands of dollars, Oh yeah, guarantee it. Putting the
- 11:43Speaker 2: money into it, the time and energy that she could
- 11:45Speaker 2: be with her kids or enjoying her life or focusing
- 11:47Speaker 2: on her business that she has to do put into
- 11:49Speaker 2: this to take a stance, I'm like, wow, good on you.
- 11:52Speaker 2: You're doing this for everyone that's ever been affected, all
- 11:55Speaker 2: of our kids, all of our future generations. I really
- 11:58Speaker 2: hope she can make big impact and I will stand
- 12:00Speaker 2: behind her in any way, shape or form that I can.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's such a powerhouse move of her doing this well,
- 12:05Speaker 3: because like what you mentioned before in the beginning is
- 12:08Speaker 3: that when women go through this, or anyone on social
- 12:10Speaker 3: media goes through this, it's almost like, oh it, quotations
- 12:13Speaker 3: comes with the territory, Like you have to be willing
- 12:15Speaker 3: to handle the hate and the backlash as much as
- 12:18Speaker 3: people loving the most authentic side of you. Yeah, and
- 12:20Speaker 3: that's really unfortunate because I don't think it's a fair
- 12:22Speaker 3: thing that people have to go through, that that just
- 12:24Speaker 3: because they are online and they choose that for themselves,
- 12:27Speaker 3: that they have to then cop an onslaught of Hate
- 12:29Speaker 3: and keyboard warriors and people like that who are open
- 12:32Speaker 3: to online bullying just because they're sitting behind a computer screen.
- 12:35Speaker 3: So like, she's also now going to put all of
- 12:37Speaker 3: those people who are bullying into fear of like, oh,
- 12:40Speaker 3: my fucking god, like.
- 12:41Speaker 2: The consequences to my actions.
- 12:42Speaker 3: That's right, Yeah, there's consequences to my actions, and I
- 12:45Speaker 3: can't just get away with these things. And all of
- 12:47Speaker 3: those people who would be shitting on her and doing
- 12:49Speaker 3: all of these things closed doors are actually going to
- 12:52Speaker 3: get in trouble for what they're doing, and so they
- 12:54Speaker 3: should should. It's disgusting.
- 12:56Speaker 2: There's a difference between constructive feedback, yeah, or constructive criticism
- 13:01Speaker 2: to being damn right disrespectful bullying and hate on someone
- 13:05Speaker 2: for their decisions. There is plenty of people online that
- 13:08Speaker 2: do things I would never do, but I don't condone that.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I don't accept that I wouldn't have in my field,
- 13:14Speaker 2: in my life and my relationships. But do I go
- 13:17Speaker 2: and hate on them? No, what's it going to achieve?
- 13:19Speaker 2: Their life, their decisions, their journey. I just like scroll along.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Even with constructive feedback, though, I feel like there's a
- 13:25Speaker 3: way to do it, and anybody who's doing it in
- 13:27Speaker 3: a way where they're coming from like a condescending tone
- 13:30Speaker 3: or they're like they're fighting the battle of being like,
- 13:32Speaker 3: oh well, I have freedom of speech and spend your
- 13:35Speaker 3: time doing something else unless you genuinely love the person,
- 13:38Speaker 3: you're like, hey, I genuinely think this would be good?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Would this be something you can consider? There's a way
- 13:43Speaker 3: to do and say things that is still in a
- 13:45Speaker 3: respectful manner. But if you were coming to people and
- 13:47Speaker 3: like one, shitting on them, bullying them, you know, openly
- 13:50Speaker 3: criticizing their character and like actually full blown attacking their
- 13:56Speaker 3: character for who they are and not what they're doing,
- 13:58Speaker 3: that to me is just like unacceptable in every sense
- 14:00Speaker 3: of the word. I just can't get behind it.
- 14:02Speaker 2: No, I can't stand for it. No. And I've actually
- 14:05Speaker 2: tried to meet up with some trolls over the years
- 14:08Speaker 2: and that goes to me every time. But I would
- 14:09Speaker 2: love to sit down and have a conversation and just
- 14:11Speaker 2: try to understand where their heads at. What do they
- 14:14Speaker 2: get out of this? Is it a sense of community.
- 14:17Speaker 2: Is it a sense of variety that you're not getting
- 14:18Speaker 2: anywhere else in your life? Is it a sense of
- 14:20Speaker 2: connection because' connecting with other people that hate on someone?
- 14:23Speaker 2: Like what human need is this meeting? And if something
- 14:26Speaker 2: meets three human needs, it becomes addictive. So it's like
- 14:29Speaker 2: it's obviously fulfilling a lot of needs and filling a
- 14:32Speaker 2: lot of voids for people that are so heavily involved
- 14:35Speaker 2: in these pages. And I'm really really hopeful that this
- 14:40Speaker 2: couple and Indie are going to make a big change.
- 14:43Speaker 2: And I hope it's a moment that we all look
- 14:45Speaker 2: back on and go, oh my gosh, remember when Indy
- 14:46Speaker 2: did that? If she didn't do that, would still be here.
- 14:50Speaker 2: And the sad thing is Baby's like so many people
- 14:53Speaker 2: cannot handle it. We are losing people to suicide every
- 14:57Speaker 2: single day over online bullying. Why would you ever want
- 15:00Speaker 2: to partake and be even if it's just a little
- 15:02Speaker 2: bit of a reason why someone doesn't get out of BE,
- 15:05Speaker 2: skips a meal or ends their life because you're in
- 15:08Speaker 2: your high horse thinking what they're doing is wrong, ugly
- 15:11Speaker 2: or you're like that just makes nose, I will never understand,
- 15:14Speaker 2: blows my mind how anyone could want to be involved
- 15:17Speaker 2: in that.
- 15:17Speaker 3: It's like we were talking about the other day, like
- 15:18Speaker 3: a lot of people have never been held accountable for
- 15:20Speaker 3: their actions and it shows, it literally shows. It's these
- 15:24Speaker 3: people are so ignorant to their own behavior and how
- 15:28Speaker 3: that impacts them. And that to me is mind blowing
- 15:30Speaker 3: because I'm like, you literally the matter like somebody's life
- 15:33Speaker 3: or death.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 15:35Speaker 3: And that makes me sick because I'm like, they're so
- 15:37Speaker 3: frivolous with their behavior in their online bullying, and they're
- 15:41Speaker 3: not dealing with their own triggers but projecting that onto
- 15:43Speaker 3: other people and then that then impacting somebody, whether they
- 15:46Speaker 3: actually want to be here on earth or not. Like
- 15:48Speaker 3: that makes me sick. I truly hope that she's able
- 15:50Speaker 3: to like win this court case. And I'm not going
- 15:53Speaker 3: to support the online bullying and all the things, but
- 15:55Speaker 3: I think that some of the people who have been
- 15:57Speaker 3: going to the extent of online builing, I think they
- 15:58Speaker 3: should be exposed.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Yeah, do you know what I mean. I'm interested to
- 16:02Speaker 2: see what the consequences will be, will be jail time,
- 16:04Speaker 2: will it be a fine? I think there needs to
- 16:06Speaker 2: be an example set some kind of consequence to create
- 16:09Speaker 2: fear of, like, if you do this, this is what's
- 16:11Speaker 2: going to.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Happen, some kind of consequence for their actions, even if
- 16:13Speaker 3: it's not be exposed online. But the reality is people
- 16:16Speaker 3: do it because they think that they're not going to
- 16:17Speaker 3: get exposed. They think that if I do this and
- 16:20Speaker 3: I put a fake name or a you know, KD
- 16:23Speaker 3: one two seven or like do you know what I mean,
- 16:24Speaker 3: like behind a fake profile, that they're not going to
- 16:27Speaker 3: be found out for their behavior. But the reality is
- 16:29Speaker 3: if their loved ones were watching them do what they
- 16:31Speaker 3: were doing behind closed doors and could have a full
- 16:34Speaker 3: bird's eye view of everything that they were choosing, saying,
- 16:36Speaker 3: and doing, there is no way that they would continue
- 16:39Speaker 3: to do those things. Because they do it in private,
- 16:41Speaker 3: they get away with it, They get a kick from it.
- 16:43Speaker 2: There's another girl that I follow and she contacted me
- 16:46Speaker 2: asking if I wanted to be in a group chat
- 16:48Speaker 2: with a bunch of other people that are going down
- 16:50Speaker 2: the private investigative route. You can either go legal or
- 16:53Speaker 2: you can go private investigator, and I thin he's doing both,
- 16:55Speaker 2: but she can't name and shame and doesn't want to
- 16:57Speaker 2: show who they are. Is this other girls, like, I'm
- 16:59Speaker 2: not going legal, I'm going to find out who they
- 17:00Speaker 2: are through the private investigator. I'm going to show them
- 17:03Speaker 2: online if you are Bravenerugh. She's got people that have
- 17:06Speaker 2: stalked her for years and like try to show her
- 17:07Speaker 2: family in a business. She's like, if you are okay,
- 17:09Speaker 2: and you think that's okay to do this to me
- 17:12Speaker 2: continuously for years, I'm going to show your face. Yeah,
- 17:15Speaker 2: And she's going to go knock on their doors. She's
- 17:17Speaker 2: going to go to their workplace. Wow, She's going to
- 17:19Speaker 2: contact their husband, their families and let them know what
- 17:21Speaker 2: their daughter, wife, sister, or whoever, exactly what they're doing, and
- 17:24Speaker 2: expose them to their closest people. I'm like, that is
- 17:27Speaker 2: a huge consequence.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Be held accountable for your damn action, be held accountable.
- 17:31Speaker 2: So I'm really, I don't know the right word, not excited,
- 17:35Speaker 2: But I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Because if you're embarrassed for your husband to know what
- 17:40Speaker 2: you're doing, wind closed daughter, other women or your kids
- 17:43Speaker 2: or anyone you know, your workplace, I reckon most workplaces
- 17:46Speaker 2: would be pretty tempted to fire someone if they're involved
- 17:48Speaker 2: in that kind of level of bullying.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Absolutely, especially if it led to something like suicide exactly. Like, God,
- 17:53Speaker 3: there's no way that people stand for that.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I would not want my stuff just being involved in
- 17:57Speaker 2: gossip pages that are impacting other women's like mental health.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Crazy. And also because you've been through it yourself, you
- 18:03Speaker 3: know what it feels them to be on the opposite
- 18:04Speaker 3: side that. So it's like, in some way, I feel
- 18:07Speaker 3: like India is also standing up for you and all
- 18:09Speaker 3: of the bullying that you've had over the last like
- 18:11Speaker 3: fifteen years of being online.
- 18:13Speaker 2: I've seen so many influencers that are just like, thank you, Indie,
- 18:16Speaker 2: thank you for being brave. I haven't had the balls
- 18:17Speaker 2: to do what you're doing, but like we're all here
- 18:19Speaker 2: with you.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I just think it's an important topic to talk about,
- 18:22Speaker 2: and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens from here.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I think it's so important just because everyone, from what
- 18:28Speaker 3: I can see in the spotlight, is just taught to
- 18:30Speaker 3: kind of just like brush it off or you know,
- 18:32Speaker 3: even anyone who tends to respond to bullies and things
- 18:35Speaker 3: like that, often cops backlash themselves for even entertaining it.
- 18:39Speaker 3: But then the reality is like everyone is just copying
- 18:41Speaker 3: it behind closed doors, and is like almost like expected
- 18:44Speaker 3: to just be like, oh, brush it off and it's fine,
- 18:47Speaker 3: You're gonna be fine, Like just ignore them, don't worry
- 18:49Speaker 3: about them. But how can you ignore and do all
- 18:51Speaker 3: of those things when it's thousands or one hundreds or calm,
- 18:55Speaker 3: multiple hitting on you for who you are, your character,
- 18:58Speaker 3: what you choose your life, even having things to say
- 19:00Speaker 3: about your family or the people that you love, yeah,
- 19:03Speaker 3: or the work that you put out into the world.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Like it's just it's just not okay, and any can't
- 19:08Speaker 3: a word, No, you can't.
- 19:10Speaker 2: People used to give me that advice. I'd just like
- 19:12Speaker 2: look at them, like you you got to be kidding me.
- 19:14Speaker 2: You have no idea, no idea. And then a workplace
- 19:16Speaker 2: safe for example, in a normal workplaces, HR to make
- 19:20Speaker 2: sure that the staff are treating each other with respect,
- 19:22Speaker 2: no one's getting bullied, everyone's feels safe. The online world
- 19:26Speaker 2: is a job. It's a job for influencers, for marketers,
- 19:30Speaker 2: for coaches. There's no HR. There's no one protecting you.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no one making no regulations and there's no regulations.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you just have to copy it. That would never
- 19:38Speaker 2: stand in a normal business, but people don't take this
- 19:40Speaker 2: online world seriously, yet we're losing people to suicide all
- 19:44Speaker 2: the time. I had a girl swipe up to me
- 19:46Speaker 2: the other day when I reposted something, and she was like, oh,
- 19:49Speaker 2: do you remember the time that you were in Hawaii
- 19:51Speaker 2: and you broke down on a live chat? Shecause I
- 19:53Speaker 2: was really worried for your life, And I actually kind
- 19:56Speaker 2: of forgot about it, but I do remember now. I
- 19:58Speaker 2: was in Hawaii on a brand trip and it's where
- 20:00Speaker 2: my trolling was really really bad. And I used to
- 20:04Speaker 2: try not to talk talk about it too much online
- 20:06Speaker 2: because the times that I had been vulnerable and said
- 20:09Speaker 2: I'm really struggling, this is too much, it amplified them.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It came in ten times hotter. I'd get sent screenshots
- 20:16Speaker 2: of the forum. They loved. It almost fueled them. It
- 20:19Speaker 2: excited them that they were bothering me and upsetting me.
- 20:21Speaker 2: They wanted to bring me down. So I tried to
- 20:23Speaker 2: pretend that it didn't upset me, of course, And then
- 20:26Speaker 2: I was just in the hotel and I went live
- 20:27Speaker 2: and I just was cried and I was vulnerable and
- 20:29Speaker 2: just said I'm much struggling, and it took me back
- 20:32Speaker 2: to that place. I was like fire ut it was
- 20:34Speaker 2: really fucking tough.
- 20:35Speaker 3: I feel like that was the reality of that time.
- 20:38Speaker 2: It Yeah, it was awful, and I just hate to
- 20:40Speaker 2: think how many people out there are struggling as much
- 20:43Speaker 2: as what I did. And even Indie She's got, you know,
- 20:46Speaker 2: so many fans, a beautiful husband, beautiful kids, friends, successful
- 20:50Speaker 2: businesses like she's got on paper all the things, and
- 20:52Speaker 2: then behind closed doors she's the last couple of months,
- 20:54Speaker 2: I had to suffer in silence and carry on running
- 20:57Speaker 2: the businesses and being a mum, doing all the things
- 20:59Speaker 2: while she's literally wanting to die because you can't Breathe
- 21:02Speaker 2: just not accepted what should never be expected of anyone online.
- 21:06Speaker 3: But that's the expectation, is to expect to cop all
- 21:09Speaker 3: of that hate and suffer in silence. But emotionally they're
- 21:12Speaker 3: like going through it because they're receiving all this hate
- 21:15Speaker 3: and like it does take a mental toll. How are
- 21:18Speaker 3: you not supposed to allow that to get to you
- 21:20Speaker 3: when in reality, most people have one negative conversation or
- 21:24Speaker 3: one moment of conflict and they absolutely crumble. Imagine hundreds
- 21:28Speaker 3: thousands every single day people coming on and having something
- 21:31Speaker 3: to say about what you do. How can you expect
- 21:34Speaker 3: them to just hold that emotionally and energetically.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I don't know, and be okay with that it's wild
- 21:39Speaker 2: or how do they get enjoyment out of knowing that
- 21:40Speaker 2: they're struggling?
- 21:41Speaker 3: That's obvious distributing to that.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I would love to understand the psychology behind that, Like,
- 21:46Speaker 2: I know, hurt people hurt people, but actually what does
- 21:48Speaker 2: it fulfill for them to see someone else mentally struggling.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'd also love ye if you are a troll, If
- 21:56Speaker 2: you are someone, could we have a conversation with you? You
- 21:59Speaker 2: could stay completely anonymous. We could even do it via phone.
- 22:02Speaker 2: You don't even have to show who you are. But
- 22:03Speaker 2: I would love to just ask the questions as to
- 22:06Speaker 2: why you do it, What got you into it, why
- 22:08Speaker 2: you keep going.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Back, why you get a kick out of it?
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, why you think other people do it? Oh my gosh.
- 22:14Speaker 2: I would love that if someone was brave enough to
- 22:16Speaker 2: come forward, and you can stay complet We can even
- 22:17Speaker 2: change the tone of your what your voice sounds like,
- 22:20Speaker 2: so you know I can recognize you. There's programs that
- 22:22Speaker 2: we could do. Our editors could do that. If anyone
- 22:24Speaker 2: is listening and you fucking hate us, or you hate
- 22:26Speaker 2: influences in the forums. You passionately hate us, and you
- 22:30Speaker 2: would be open to.
- 22:31Speaker 3: It and your listen. Yeah, you're listening because you love
- 22:34Speaker 3: to hate us.
- 22:34Speaker 2: We would love to have a conversation with you and
- 22:36Speaker 2: just keep us super open. We'll just ask you the questions.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Just weren't brutally honest.
- 22:40Speaker 2: We went by back. We won't judge you for it.
- 22:42Speaker 2: We're just here to hold face. We just want to
- 22:44Speaker 2: try and understand it. I think it'd be really helpful
- 22:46Speaker 2: for a lot of people.
- 22:47Speaker 3: It's really interesting.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I doubt anyone's going to come forward, but I'll put
- 22:50Speaker 2: it out there. It does also scare me for my kids,
- 22:54Speaker 2: but I do think that's where I find a bit
- 22:57Speaker 2: of gratitude, a bit do Wei shul put my worst enemy,
- 23:00Speaker 2: but a bitter gratitude and what I've been through because
- 23:02Speaker 2: I do think I'm well equipped to be able to
- 23:03Speaker 2: support my children through this. Oh yeah, but I definitely
- 23:06Speaker 2: think we'll have boundaries around phones, like I will let
- 23:11Speaker 2: Taj have a phone soon, but it'll be a flip
- 23:13Speaker 2: one where there's no social media. Yeah, it's just where
- 23:15Speaker 2: he can call, I have said twim because he loves traveling.
- 23:18Speaker 2: I was like, if you can last till sixteen without
- 23:20Speaker 2: a phone, without social media, I'll take you on a
- 23:22Speaker 2: trip wherever you want to go. Oh right now? He's
- 23:25Speaker 2: like hell, yes, oh, And I said, I'm buying the
- 23:28Speaker 2: newest iPhone at sixteen. Okay, So if I can get
- 23:30Speaker 2: through to sixteen without them having social media and a phone,
- 23:34Speaker 2: I'll be So that's pretty incredible because those years from
- 23:37Speaker 2: twelve to sixteen I think would be pretty fucking hard
- 23:39Speaker 2: as a teenager. Their brains are not developed enough to
- 23:42Speaker 2: be able to hold handle and understand that level of hate,
- 23:46Speaker 2: and they go to school and have to cop bullying
- 23:48Speaker 2: and how hard is school and then to have to
- 23:49Speaker 2: come home and not have an escape from all.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Honestly that the ages between I feel like eleven and
- 23:55Speaker 3: fifteen are like the hardest years when it comes to
- 23:58Speaker 3: growth and development, especially when you're being influenced by school.
- 24:01Speaker 3: I feel like it's you're so soon, Yeah, you're so
- 24:04Speaker 3: in protionable, you want to be loved, you want to
- 24:06Speaker 3: be cared forul But then also I feel like because
- 24:09Speaker 3: everyone in that school environment is growing, evolving and coming
- 24:11Speaker 3: into their hormones and their body is changing and they're
- 24:15Speaker 3: super reactive and all of those things. I feel like
- 24:17Speaker 3: it's a really nasty time. So if you can make
- 24:19Speaker 3: it through that phase, you're pretty good for the most part.
- 24:22Speaker 2: The hard thing is, and I don't know how to
- 24:24Speaker 2: navigate this quiet yet, is when every other kid has
- 24:27Speaker 2: it and then your kid doesn't, you obviously feel bad
- 24:29Speaker 2: for them. You don't want them being left out or
- 24:31Speaker 2: being called to lose, or your parents are so strict,
- 24:33Speaker 2: like I can see that side. Yeah, And I don't
- 24:36Speaker 2: know how I'll navigate that. I think for myself growing up,
- 24:40Speaker 2: I was very sporty and that really kept me on
- 24:42Speaker 2: the straight and arrow and never went down the drugs
- 24:44Speaker 2: in our coal route. Yeah, because I was so focused
- 24:46Speaker 2: on my sports. So I hope that Taji's finds a
- 24:49Speaker 2: lot of passions and just has a good crew of
- 24:51Speaker 2: people around him.
- 24:52Speaker 3: I'm sure he will.
- 24:53Speaker 2: I don't have the answers. That's just our plan at
- 24:56Speaker 2: the moment, and right now he's motivated by that. And
- 24:59Speaker 2: then I suppose I do know some other mums that
- 25:01Speaker 2: have teenagers and they just have a very open relationship
- 25:04Speaker 2: with them. They have their logins, they can check, they
- 25:06Speaker 2: can ask questions. I know our podcast producers like they
- 25:09Speaker 2: have teenage girls and their phones are i think down
- 25:12Speaker 2: by eight pm and they're left downstairs, so the girls
- 25:14Speaker 2: can't actually have the phones in their room, which I
- 25:16Speaker 2: think that's really cool.
- 25:17Speaker 3: I think that's cool.
- 25:17Speaker 2: There's boundaries. You can talk to your friends and connect
- 25:20Speaker 2: and be on social media and be involved with what's
- 25:22Speaker 2: going on in the world, but then there's a boundary
- 25:23Speaker 2: of it doesn't consume your life. You're up there all
- 25:26Speaker 2: night being consumed with it. Yeah, So I think there's
- 25:28Speaker 2: different boundaries in different ages.
- 25:30Speaker 3: In moderation as well, like that moderation is still letting
- 25:33Speaker 3: them use it and learning how to like evolve with technology, yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 3: but not keeping them away from it entirely, right, But
- 25:39Speaker 3: then just yeah, in moderation.
- 25:41Speaker 2: And Taje loves YouTuber. Like you ask him what he
- 25:43Speaker 2: wants to be, he says the YouTuber And he's got
- 25:45Speaker 2: his own YouTube channel, which we now don't have the
- 25:46Speaker 2: logins too, which is devastating, but it's all monitored by us,
- 25:50Speaker 2: Like we create the videos together, I get it edited,
- 25:52Speaker 2: I upload it. There's no comments on. Yeah, that's as
- 25:54Speaker 2: far as it goes.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:55Speaker 2: So yeah, and times are changing as well, like hopefully
- 25:58Speaker 2: what Indy's doing. What this couple's doing will make a
- 26:00Speaker 2: change and people won't be able to freely say what
- 26:02Speaker 2: they want to say online without consequences.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Yeah, hopefully this will be the thing that starts to
- 26:07Speaker 3: create some kind of regulation within the space, because it
- 26:10Speaker 3: is it's a very unregulated space. It's like anything goes.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Yes, we just want to talk about It's an important topic.
- 26:14Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to seeing. I hopefully we can do
- 26:16Speaker 2: an updated episode when we hear of something that's happened.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I did love that they need to be held accountable
- 26:20Speaker 2: for their action.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I think every law should be Yeah, I think so too.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I'm excited for her to figure out what can be
- 26:25Speaker 3: done in court and like what kind of consequences these
- 26:28Speaker 3: people are going to get because they deserve them. You know,
- 26:30Speaker 3: you just can't do it. You're going to behave that way,
- 26:32Speaker 3: expect consequences exactly like ictrually believe in karma comes around
- 26:36Speaker 3: what you put out comes around.
- 26:37Speaker 2: It does. So you can't get away with that in
- 26:39Speaker 2: real life, So I should get away with it online?
- 26:41Speaker 3: Absolutely not.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, thanks for joining us, guys. We will see
- 26:44Speaker 2: you tomorrow for our Bestie segment. Bye.
