- 0:18Speaker 2: to our Bestie segment, Girl, this is the place for you.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Welcome back to one of the bestI episode with your
- 0:28Speaker 3: hosts Actually and Tianna. Helu Hell, we have another anonymous
- 0:34Speaker 3: submission from one of you guys. Pees are something that
- 0:36Speaker 3: we don't even know who is bringing them in. So
- 0:38Speaker 3: if there's ever anything that you have a question about
- 0:40Speaker 3: you need some besty advice or some support, you know
- 0:43Speaker 3: you can always bring it in. Now, today's topic or
- 0:45Speaker 3: today's submission is all about skin conditions and skin struggles.
- 0:49Speaker 2: So if this has been.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You, listen up. Okay, she has said, Hi, beautiful ladies,
- 0:55Speaker 1: I have a lot of shame around living with psoriasis,
- 0:58Speaker 1: which is a skin condition I believe Tiana has previously
- 1:00Speaker 1: mentioned that she suffers from, which would be kind enough
- 1:03Speaker 1: to share her tips and advice on how she manages this.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Oh absolutely, I'm so sorry that you're going through this.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Firstly, it is so annoying.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah have skin issues, It like can really make you
- 1:15Speaker 3: feel I know personally, like it makes me feel insecure.
- 1:18Speaker 3: If it's somewhere on my body where it's exposed, I'm like, oh,
- 1:22Speaker 3: oh no, like some people are going to see it
- 1:23Speaker 3: and you know. And this is something that I've actually
- 1:26Speaker 3: struggled with from a young age. So when I was
- 1:28Speaker 3: a little girl, like my mum couldn't even buy shampoo
- 1:31Speaker 3: conditioner from wool Worse because it would make my head
- 1:34Speaker 3: raw red raw.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Like my skin.
- 1:36Speaker 3: It was just it would strip my skin so badly anyway,
- 1:40Speaker 3: so that I would get like crisis all over my head.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I'd get it all over my chest, all over my back,
- 1:44Speaker 3: and I actually, funnily enough, have it at the moment.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And this is something over the years I've learned how
- 1:50Speaker 3: to deal with because I've learned about my body and
- 1:52Speaker 3: what my body can take and not take, and what
- 1:54Speaker 3: I have come to learn this.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Is for me personally.
- 1:56Speaker 3: It might not be the same for you, but for me,
- 1:59Speaker 3: my crisis comes out when I eat gluten. I'm intolerant
- 2:02Speaker 3: to gluten, and I have learned that through a natural path.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I went go tested and everything like that, and my
- 2:06Speaker 3: body just cannot digest it properly. And that is what
- 2:09Speaker 3: seems to be the thing that sparks mysiasis. So when
- 2:12Speaker 3: I don't eat gluten, it completely goes away. So there's
- 2:16Speaker 3: no steroid cream that works that gets rid of it.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Because steroid creams you're not supposed to use for a
- 2:21Speaker 3: long term. They're supposed to be a temporary fix. I
- 2:24Speaker 3: personally think they're a band aid fix. I don't think
- 2:25Speaker 3: they're a solution. I don't personally use them. I have
- 2:28Speaker 3: in the past to help when it's been really bad,
- 2:31Speaker 3: But honestly, my best suggestion for you is to go
- 2:34Speaker 3: get your gut checked, like, go to a naturopath if
- 2:37Speaker 3: you can, if you can afford to do it, go
- 2:40Speaker 3: to a nutropath. Go see what it is that's happening
- 2:42Speaker 3: within your body, because your skin conditions have to do
- 2:45Speaker 3: with either your gut or your liver, so something in
- 2:47Speaker 3: your body is not happy right now. And yeah, honestly,
- 2:51Speaker 3: for me, the best thing that I did was go
- 2:53Speaker 3: on a gut protocol. Basically, in simple terms, without you
- 2:56Speaker 3: having to go and fork out all the money for
- 2:57Speaker 3: a protocol, what you can do. You may be intolerant
- 3:01Speaker 3: to gluten, you can try it. I don't know if
- 3:03Speaker 3: it's going to be the best solution because it's not
- 3:04Speaker 3: specific to your body. But see what it is that
- 3:07Speaker 3: your body reacts to. Like if there's something you know
- 3:09Speaker 3: that you're eating and you feel a bit bloated and
- 3:11Speaker 3: you feel a bit sick in the tom, cut it out,
- 3:13Speaker 3: Drink filtered water. If you can get on bone broth,
- 3:16Speaker 3: get on bone broth. What else do I do?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Be organs?
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yeap organ tablets, So I take organ tablets. Those are
- 3:22Speaker 3: really really helpful. And I highly suggest getting a shampoo
- 3:25Speaker 3: and conditioner that is.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Not store board because you might not get it here.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It might be a body yes that's true.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah, like a body wash or something that could like
- 3:33Speaker 1: strip because I remember the other day you said you
- 3:35Speaker 1: used to cleanser on your chest and it kind of stripped,
- 3:38Speaker 1: and it's a really gentle, beautiful cleanser. But any kind
- 3:41Speaker 1: of product, I suppose soap wise, whether it shampoo or
- 3:44Speaker 1: a body wash, would strip your skin. And then if
- 3:46Speaker 1: it has fragments in it or yes, just a shit
- 3:48Speaker 1: on the other ingredients. You need to go cold turkey
- 3:50Speaker 1: on what you're putting on your body.
- 3:52Speaker 2: You definitely do.
- 3:53Speaker 3: So I would cut out anything that has fragrance, like
- 3:55Speaker 3: well actually said I can't, especially not at the moment
- 3:58Speaker 3: while my body is flat. I can't use anything with fragrance,
- 4:00Speaker 3: So things like w Letta, which is a really clean, natural,
- 4:04Speaker 3: no fragrance brand that I find has been good for me. Yeah,
- 4:07Speaker 3: anything with no fragrance body washes, stay away from those
- 4:10Speaker 3: if they have fragrance.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Stripping the oil strong sense, Yeah, not good.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I like what you're talking about the gut health though,
- 4:16Speaker 1: because even though you're intolerant to gluten, if your gut
- 4:20Speaker 1: is in flame, which gluten is in flame your gut,
- 4:22Speaker 1: but if your gut has any type of inflammation, your
- 4:24Speaker 1: skin is a representation of that. Yes, So regardless of
- 4:27Speaker 1: products to use not to use, if you're not going
- 4:29Speaker 1: to the root cause, which is your gut health, then
- 4:31Speaker 1: it's not going to get better.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So, whether it's through a natch path or whether it
- 4:34Speaker 1: is through like eliminating things, going on a gut protocol,
- 4:38Speaker 1: doing a lot of research depending on where you're at
- 4:40Speaker 1: and what your budget is, butus definitely getting help to
- 4:43Speaker 1: really clean out your gut, rebuild the lining back up.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, there's actually a gut powder that I use.
- 4:49Speaker 3: I mean, I personally don't know if it helps with
- 4:51Speaker 3: my skin, but I take it anyway because I know
- 4:53Speaker 3: my gut is inflamed.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It's metagenics.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah, metagenics and it's called glutagenics is actual product. I
- 4:59Speaker 3: take that like twice a day regardless, just to help.
- 5:02Speaker 3: And those other supplements I mentioned really do helps well.
- 5:05Speaker 3: So if you can kind of get enough nutrients into
- 5:07Speaker 3: your body and help your skin internally, that's going to
- 5:10Speaker 3: be the best option. I would stay away from all
- 5:12Speaker 3: the topical stuff unless it is really bad where you're like, oh,
- 5:15Speaker 3: I need to just you're scared and you want to
- 5:17Speaker 3: hide it and you scared of other people seeing it,
- 5:19Speaker 3: or you're feeling really insecure about it, then I understand.
- 5:22Speaker 3: But I think for me personally, like I know, when
- 5:24Speaker 3: I can see it on my body, I'm like, okay,
- 5:26Speaker 3: I haven't solved the problem yet, you know.
- 5:28Speaker 2: So if you can be willing to be patient with.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yourself, it may take a lot longer for it to
- 5:32Speaker 3: go away, but at least if you know that you're
- 5:34Speaker 3: healing it from the inside, then you know that the
- 5:37Speaker 3: problem is actually being solved, as opposed to like whacking
- 5:39Speaker 3: a band aid solution on it.
- 5:40Speaker 1: And don't let it sound scary when we say like
- 5:42Speaker 1: cut something out. I think a lot of people get
- 5:44Speaker 1: really scared to cut things out. But I mean, at
- 5:46Speaker 1: the end of the day, I don't know, when you
- 5:47Speaker 1: go back to Cape Ma and days, what were we
- 5:48Speaker 1: surviving off eat berries, nuts, fruits. There was nothing process,
- 5:53Speaker 1: There was nothing in packages, there was nothing being sprayed
- 5:55Speaker 1: with all the crap that our fruits and vegetables even
- 5:57Speaker 1: being sprayed with these days. Like even I hate say it,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but the venue some coals and woolies are being sprayed
- 6:02Speaker 1: by a million pesticides. They're grown in oil, and they're
- 6:05Speaker 1: plucked when they're not even ready to pluck, so they're
- 6:07Speaker 1: lacking nutrients. They're then frozen. Like, there's just so much
- 6:10Speaker 1: wrong with our food sources these days. If I was
- 6:14Speaker 1: in your position too, like I would be cutting it
- 6:16Speaker 1: back to basics. Yes, I'll be eating as quote unquote
- 6:19Speaker 1: clean and natural as possible, getting rid of all the process.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Obviously alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, vaping. I think soy, gluten and
- 6:26Speaker 1: dairy are a really good place to start as well.
- 6:28Speaker 1: We're so lucky we live in a day and age
- 6:29Speaker 1: where there is so many healthy alternatives, Like you can't
- 6:32Speaker 1: have dairy cool. There's everything in coconut, Yeah, everything in
- 6:34Speaker 1: almond like they literally confined options for everything in the wraps.
- 6:37Speaker 2: There's coconut wras, coconut wraps, and they're actually really delicious.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Yes, they's a bit more expensive, they're a bit robbery,
- 6:41Speaker 1: but the yeah, yeah, when you value your health and
- 6:45Speaker 1: you want to get to the bottom of it, you
- 6:47Speaker 1: do have to invest time, persistence, patience and money to
- 6:50Speaker 1: get to the bottom of it and be able to
- 6:52Speaker 1: help your body absolutely.
- 6:53Speaker 3: And like what you said, the best way to do
- 6:54Speaker 3: if you don't necessarily have the budget to go get
- 6:57Speaker 3: support is just like what actually just said, like cutting
- 6:59Speaker 3: out all the foods you know are going to be
- 7:01Speaker 3: inflammatory for your gut, because if right now your gut
- 7:04Speaker 3: is inflamed, it's usually because of what we're consuming. And
- 7:06Speaker 3: like as you mentioned, like the natural obvious ones are alcohol, cigarettes,
- 7:12Speaker 3: all of those sorts of things.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You know.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, even just cutting down on what sugar you're consuming,
- 7:17Speaker 3: how you're consuming it. If you're eating out all the time,
- 7:20Speaker 3: like are you eating at good places orre you eating
- 7:22Speaker 3: at places that have a lot of you know, heavy
- 7:24Speaker 3: oils like that seed oils mess my gut up, Like
- 7:27Speaker 3: when I'm eating things that are deep fried that mixed
- 7:31Speaker 3: with the gluten is like a recipe for disaster with
- 7:33Speaker 3: my gut, and I noticed it come out in my skin.
- 7:36Speaker 3: And this is part of the reason why I believe
- 7:37Speaker 3: it's come out in my skin this time around, because
- 7:40Speaker 3: I just recently went to Bali and I ate gluten
- 7:43Speaker 3: over there, and it was also like deep fried and
- 7:45Speaker 3: I had it a couple of times, and then that
- 7:47Speaker 3: mixed with the heat, with the water, with hair products
- 7:49Speaker 3: and hair treatments that I was getting, it was just
- 7:51Speaker 3: a recipe for disaster.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So I hope this has been helpful.
- 7:55Speaker 3: And if you have any more questions, you're more than
- 7:56Speaker 3: welcome to reach out to me my dams and we
- 7:58Speaker 3: can have a chat about it.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But yeah, good luck.
- 8:00Speaker 1: If you can get an atch proth, I would definitely
- 8:02Speaker 1: onto an utch proth. It can help get to the
- 8:04Speaker 1: deep on lying issues of Oh.
- 8:06Speaker 2: It'll be so worth it.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, there's so many beautiful ways you can
- 8:09Speaker 1: support your body.
- 8:10Speaker 2: It's like I'd like to be a prime investigating your body.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It takes time. You've got to research trial and error things.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It'd be really patient.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Yes, It's like when I had actne when I was younger,
- 8:17Speaker 1: it took you years for it to fully clean up
- 8:19Speaker 1: and for me to learn what was causing it. And
- 8:21Speaker 1: I definitely believe stress and gut health was the bottom
- 8:23Speaker 1: of it.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Definitely. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Actually you just minded me something too.
- 8:27Speaker 2: When I'm super super.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Stressed, ciriasis breaks out, like on my back.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I remember had that.
- 8:32Speaker 3: I had like a full blown rash all over my
- 8:34Speaker 3: stomach and my back.
- 8:35Speaker 2: That was post Brady. It's like, yeah, so sad. Yeah
- 8:39Speaker 2: that was interesting. Yeah, something stress related as well. So
- 8:43Speaker 2: it stress causes inflammation definitely hand in hand.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, so if your feeling super activated at the moment,
- 8:47Speaker 3: could even be like meditations before bed. Yeah, nervous system
- 8:50Speaker 3: resets five minutes long. You can jump on YouTube. There's
- 8:54Speaker 3: lots of different ways to help.
- 8:55Speaker 2: So definitely hope this has helped.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Love and with soriasis, acne, whatever skin condition.
- 9:00Speaker 2: You're still beautiful, You're still worthy. Yes, that doesn't define
- 9:03Speaker 2: who you are. It's just a part of your journey.
- 9:05Speaker 3: We just want to get to the root and heal
- 9:06Speaker 3: it from the inside out so you don't have to
- 9:07Speaker 3: deal with it anymore.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Yeah it feels Yeah, all right, good luck, Lovely, and
- 9:11Speaker 1: we'll see you in the next episode.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Bye bye.
