- 0:37Speaker 1: revisit it to make sure we could still feel comfortable
- 0:39Speaker 1: about it. Enjoy this audio version of Still Comfy if

- 2:57Speaker 1: He is in the building. He is ready to listen
- 3:01Speaker 1: to me talk about Gorilla's Mario's in the building.
- 3:06Speaker 2: You love it with Mario's here?
- 3:08Speaker 1: Yeah, Mini Driver, we love Mini Driver.
- 3:11Speaker 2: We do love Mini Driver. Hate the way she says Grandpa,
- 3:14Speaker 2: but love Mini Driver.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna throw money like that.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Unpopular opinion or popular opinion.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Only you can tell us in the comments. Jules, are
- 3:25Speaker 1: you gonna time this to see if I can do
- 3:27Speaker 1: it in a minute?
- 3:28Speaker 2: Yeah, give me a ready, yeah steady?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Go.
- 3:37Speaker 1: In a little known city called Chicago, Illinois, there sits
- 3:40Speaker 1: a zoo called Lincoln Park Zoo. That zoo contains a
- 3:43Speaker 1: gorilla named Sydney, and he needs a bigger house and
- 3:47Speaker 1: David Ducovney's wife is going to give it to him,
- 3:50Speaker 1: except for she dies in a tragic car accident. Thus
- 3:54Speaker 1: brings in Crazy played by Minie Driver, who is waiting
- 3:57Speaker 1: for a heart transplant and gets David to Cup's wife's heart.
- 4:01Speaker 1: They fall in love. It's the power of love and souls.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And there's a Irish Italian restaurant because why wouldn't there be?
- 4:10Speaker 1: And that's your look into today's film.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Return to Me, nicely done, thirty eight seconds and thirty
- 4:19Speaker 2: got d I was humming it. Could you tell?
- 4:22Speaker 1: I could tell? I could tell, all right.
- 4:24Speaker 2: And I also threw and returned to me in there
- 4:26Speaker 2: a little bit too.
- 4:27Speaker 1: See, I can't do return to me. I can only
- 4:30Speaker 1: hum it.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Okay, Well, m.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Let's start at the beginning. And by the beginning, I
- 4:40Speaker 1: mean my beginning with this film. I was a third
- 4:44Speaker 1: or a fourth grader. I was at the Lincoln Park
- 4:47Speaker 1: Zoo and I was pissed because they wouldn't let me
- 4:50Speaker 1: go into the monkey House the Gorilla House because I
- 4:55Speaker 1: didn't understand that they had shut down the Gorilla House
- 4:57Speaker 1: because they actually filmed this movie at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
- 5:02Speaker 2: That I feel like that makes sense because the Bonnie
- 5:05Speaker 2: Hunt from Chicago.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Sure are they all from Chicago?
- 5:08Speaker 2: I read that her brother worked at the hospital where
- 5:11Speaker 2: the hospital scenes were seen, and he's the reason why
- 5:14Speaker 2: they were able to shoot there.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Also, Mario, Yes, I also want to go to that restaurant,
- 5:20Speaker 2: an Italian Irish restaurant, like two of my favorite vibes.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I want to battle Angelo for the best sauce.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Ooh Angelo, Uncle Angelo. So I'm a fourth grader eating
- 5:32Speaker 1: lunch on a hill where a fancy man with the
- 5:34Speaker 1: clipboard walks up to me, is like, young lady, would
- 5:37Speaker 1: you like to be an extra in this movie that
- 5:39Speaker 1: we're filming? And my chaperone was like, there's no way
- 5:42Speaker 1: you're catching the bus if that happens. But I did
- 5:44Speaker 1: get to watch Bonnie Hunt and Minie Driver and all
- 5:47Speaker 1: of those children Irish Catholics.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Man, your chaperone is a bummer summer, I know.
- 5:54Speaker 1: But she's probably right, and we lived two hours away
- 5:58Speaker 1: from the zoo.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I mean, watch, be an extra in a movie, Miss.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Luber wasn't a thing in the nineties. No, but your parents.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Could have, like, I don't know, could have been a
- 6:14Speaker 2: whole news story child child, missus bus.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I'm sure that there was. I'm sure there was like
- 6:21Speaker 1: paperwork that parents have to sign in order for your
- 6:24Speaker 1: kid to be an extra in a movie that feels
- 6:26Speaker 1: like lawfully right. Yeah, yeah, so I don't know. But anyways,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I just got to watch Bonnie Hunt and Minee Driver
- 6:34Speaker 1: and it didn't hit me. My mom and I used
- 6:36Speaker 1: to watch this movie. We would watch this movie Fools
- 6:40Speaker 1: Russian and Must Love Dogs on repeat because we got
- 6:46Speaker 1: them as like a box set. I love Must Love Dogs,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I love Must Love Dogs. And I also love Fools Russian.
- 6:54Speaker 2: So I also love Fools Russian. Currently not a fan
- 6:58Speaker 2: of Matthew Perry. No, I hate Matthew Perry. I'll say it,
- 7:02Speaker 2: I hate him, but he's not in this movie. David
- 7:06Speaker 2: du coveney is damn. Why didn't you love me, David Coney,
- 7:11Speaker 2: Why don't you know We're never gonna actually get to
- 7:14Speaker 2: talking about this movie.
- 7:15Speaker 1: We were just keep singings we are talking about it,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and so anyways, I didn't get to be in the movie.
- 7:25Speaker 1: To everyone's sad, sugar in, but I love this movie.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite movies. And I didn't realize
- 7:30Speaker 1: until ten years later that I watched this movie be filmed,
- 7:33Speaker 1: Like it was like our fiftieth watch of it. I
- 7:35Speaker 1: was like, Mom, I was there, and.
- 7:37Speaker 2: She's like, what are you talking about?
- 7:40Speaker 1: I was like, I was like Lincoln Perksu. When this
- 7:42Speaker 1: was filmed, I watched Bonnie Hunt Come out of the
- 7:46Speaker 1: Gorilla House. I love that this movie contains all of
- 7:50Speaker 1: my favorite things. It contains David d'covney, It contains Minnie Driver,
- 7:57Speaker 1: It has say it with Me, Guru love, It has
- 8:03Speaker 1: a mysticism, and it has pasta and old irishmen.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And some old Italian.
- 8:09Speaker 1: I love old Italians. They're the closest thing to my
- 8:12Speaker 1: great uncles. I I would love to start at the
- 8:19Speaker 1: car crash, but it's such a bad size that we're
- 8:22Speaker 1: gonna start with the restaurant.
- 8:23Speaker 2: And I think I first though that I first saw
- 8:27Speaker 2: this movie when I was because it came out when
- 8:29Speaker 2: I was sixteen years old.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Oh maybe then I probably wasn't in fourth grade because
- 8:36Speaker 1: we're not that far apart.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Because it came two thousand. It came out in two thousand,
- 8:42Speaker 2: so I guess years.
- 8:43Speaker 1: To film it. I don't know how long movies take.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Especially back then. Who knows right, right, But it came
- 8:49Speaker 2: out in two thousand and I was sixteen, and I
- 8:56Speaker 2: remember thinking, this is so Roman.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It is the purest movie of pure movies. As we know.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I've been reading the heart Stopper series, and I send
- 9:06Speaker 1: pictures of the heart Stopper graphic novel panels two people,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and I'm like, look at this big boy, cradle this
- 9:14Speaker 1: littler boy. Like I'm crying, but like I cried throughout
- 9:20Speaker 1: alive return to me, Oh all of it.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Hello. I was like, this is terrible because Natalie's gonna
- 9:25Speaker 2: be like what do you remember? What was it like
- 9:28Speaker 2: watching the movie this time? And I'm gonna be like,
- 9:30Speaker 2: I don't know. We were two minutes in and I'm bawling, bawling.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I cried. As soon as I saw the gorilla. I
- 9:36Speaker 1: was like, that gorilla is gonna be sad. The dog,
- 9:39Speaker 1: the dog dog. Oh, and I was the door, and
- 9:42Speaker 1: I was instantly reminded that that becomes the thing after
- 9:45Speaker 1: she dies. So I was like, that dog's about to
- 9:47Speaker 1: be sad.
- 9:48Speaker 2: That dog's never gonna eat again.
- 9:50Speaker 1: He's never gonna eat again. Mel, poor Mel. So I
- 9:54Speaker 1: guess we got to start at the beginning. Okay. For
- 9:58Speaker 1: one thing, David Duchovny it should be legal. How good
- 10:01Speaker 1: looking David du Coveney is in this movie.
- 10:03Speaker 2: He is pretty dreamy, and I always remembered him being
- 10:06Speaker 2: more like like a cartoon handsome guy, you know what
- 10:10Speaker 2: I mean. Like he was like a little cartoony, but
- 10:14Speaker 2: a little handsome, And in this one, I was like, oh,
- 10:18Speaker 2: maybe you're not so cartoony. Maybe it's the other things
- 10:21Speaker 2: I've seen you in that makes you feel cartoony.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah. My dad often used to tell me when I
- 10:26Speaker 1: was younger that he would never let me anywhere near
- 10:29Speaker 1: David ducupney.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Why.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I believe it was because of the sex addiction. I
- 10:37Speaker 1: forgot about the sex addiction.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Why he and Tyleoni broke up.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and then he went to star in the TV
- 10:47Speaker 1: show California Vacation that was possibly about his own sex addiction.
- 10:52Speaker 2: They were like, hey, you know who would be great
- 10:54Speaker 2: in this role. David ducvney. Ironic.
- 10:58Speaker 1: He already knows how to do it.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:01Speaker 1: So my dad was always like, I don't care how
- 11:03Speaker 1: many episodes of The X Files you watch, you will
- 11:06Speaker 1: never be in the same room with David ducufney.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Do you think he's still This is not my business.
- 11:12Speaker 2: I'm not gonna ask that question.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I haven't seen him since he was in that Netflix
- 11:16Speaker 1: show about the lady who wanted to have a better
- 11:21Speaker 1: job at that English college and then he he's gonna
- 11:25Speaker 1: like be Sandra series. Wasn't that David company? Was I
- 11:31Speaker 1: David d'cufney who was playing himself wanting to be like
- 11:34Speaker 1: a teacher's assistant or something or an adjunct professor.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Girl. I don't remember. I'm gonna look right now because.
- 11:40Speaker 1: I remember being like, damn, David, you still look good,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and that makes me happy it was either him or
- 11:45Speaker 1: John Stamos, because I would have been equally as happy
- 11:47Speaker 1: for John Stamos.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Do you remember when he was in an episode of
- 11:56Speaker 2: Ma'am I think with Sandra.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Oh right, yeah, it's called like the Chair, The Chair.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I see no, David Ducovney an uncredited I see no,
- 12:13Speaker 2: John Stamos.
- 12:15Speaker 1: It was someone that I enjoy seeing. I'm terryus.
- 12:18Speaker 2: One episode got him towards the bottom. David du Coveney,
- 12:22Speaker 2: I love him. Sorry, it took me so long to
- 12:24Speaker 2: find it.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So Also he's married too in this movie. The lady
- 12:29Speaker 1: who plays Nicki the Wife and Niptuck and Nip Tuck
- 12:32Speaker 1: is also a show that I used to get my
- 12:34Speaker 1: rocks off of as a like pre teen.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's veen Asa Redgrave's daughter, Natalie and Natasha Richardson's sister, which.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Is fucking hot. She's hot coal from Charmed is hot.
- 12:45Speaker 1: They were hot together in Niptuck because the other dude
- 12:48Speaker 1: was ugly. Weren't they married in real life or no? Cole,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I don't know. David du Coveney and her, I don't know.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Uh, Jolie right, Julie Richardson, I don't know.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Oh, he was in you people. I didn't see you people.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Yeah, he's in you people.
- 13:06Speaker 1: God, Oh, Mario was in eighth grade. We were probably
- 13:09Speaker 1: around this. Okay, we will talk about Bonnie Hunt and
- 13:12Speaker 1: Jim Believe.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I don't even see this comment.
- 13:15Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, are you not looking at the comments?
- 13:18Speaker 2: No, it just wasn't there yet, because the last comment
- 13:21Speaker 2: I saw was I was in eighth grade when it
- 13:23Speaker 2: came out. And then Mario concurred the chair and then
- 13:27Speaker 2: he just commented, you people, Yes, he is in you people.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That movie is very controversial and this is not the
- 13:32Speaker 2: platform for that conversation. Oh, that's right, he's not tonight.
- 13:37Speaker 1: All right, I'm gonna take it off. But anyways, So
- 13:41Speaker 1: they have to go to this fancy party because she's
- 13:43Speaker 1: a fancy zoo lady aka she's pretty. So the old
- 13:47Speaker 1: men will give the zoo money because she wants a thing,
- 13:51Speaker 1: and she wants a bigger habitat for Sydney the Gorilla.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's just just fucking yeah. And she's practicing his speech
- 13:59Speaker 1: to her speech to him. Yes, what are you hyper
- 14:04Speaker 1: focused on currently whether or not.
- 14:06Speaker 2: She was married to the guy from Nittuck. I'm putting
- 14:09Speaker 2: my phone away. This is this is not the time, Julia,
- 14:15Speaker 2: this is not the time.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I've moved on. And so she gets her grant for
- 14:21Speaker 1: the monkey House and then dies tragically in a headlong collision,
- 14:28Speaker 1: but it.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Happens off screen, which I really appreciate because I feel
- 14:31Speaker 2: like a lot of films these days are like, We're
- 14:34Speaker 2: gonna traumatize you to never get in a car again.
- 14:38Speaker 1: No, you just see a very like in Shock, David
- 14:41Speaker 1: du Covenany trying to cope covered in blood, covered in blood,
- 14:45Speaker 1: and David Alan Greer love him be Wilden in this movie,
- 14:49Speaker 1: but I love him. He fucks in this movie. Oh yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: also all and he'll tell you, he'll tell you that
- 14:56Speaker 1: he fucks in this movie.
- 14:58Speaker 2: He can get it in the eat it, but has.
- 15:03Speaker 1: To drive him home and then, like David Duchovny, just
- 15:05Speaker 1: has to sit in front of the door and fall
- 15:08Speaker 1: asleep and cry with his dog. And truly, that is
- 15:12Speaker 1: the only reason I'm safe while I'm out in the world,
- 15:16Speaker 1: because I wouldn't want Panela being to wonder where the
- 15:19Speaker 1: fuck I was.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Yeah mm hmm, yeah. I you know, it's interesting because
- 15:29Speaker 2: I always I hm, I have broken some levels of
- 15:37Speaker 2: generational trauma I choose to believe. And one of the
- 15:40Speaker 2: things that is like doesn't happen in my parent child relationship,
- 15:45Speaker 2: me being the child in the scenario, is that like
- 15:48Speaker 2: comfort and awareness that like, hey, I'm safe all the
- 15:52Speaker 2: time because I have human child who lives five and
- 15:57Speaker 2: a half hours away, who, when he does a alert
- 16:00Speaker 2: me to being in a situation he doesn't want to
- 16:02Speaker 2: be in, still has the wherewithal to let me know
- 16:05Speaker 2: when he's safely home, which I really appreciate. I don't
- 16:09Speaker 2: think Josephine will notice and let until it's been like
- 16:12Speaker 2: five hours and she's like, no one snuggled me, where's
- 16:15Speaker 2: my mom? She no longer comes running to the door
- 16:21Speaker 2: excited that I'm home. That's calculated, which is the whole
- 16:26Speaker 2: point of having a dog, right, because my cat creates
- 16:30Speaker 2: me at the garage door. Yeah, she doesn't do it anymore.
- 16:35Speaker 1: What did you do to Josephine?
- 16:37Speaker 2: I think I've just made a really cozy home.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Oh maybe because she's.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Just like living her best life. Like the bed super comfy,
- 16:45Speaker 2: every couch is super comfy, Like she's like, why am
- 16:48Speaker 2: I gonna get up? I'm good?
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think I Also, this was the first time I
- 16:55Speaker 1: clopped that there's actually a year between David d Covnany's
- 16:59Speaker 1: wife dying the heart transplant and then David Dukeveny and
- 17:04Speaker 1: Minnie Driver running into one another. I think when you're
- 17:06Speaker 1: like a kid, you don't understand timelines and movies.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting because I feel like I've always known
- 17:12Speaker 2: because also in addition to that, Bonnie Hunt and Jim
- 17:15Speaker 2: Belushi have another baby in that time. So at the
- 17:19Speaker 2: hospital when she's getting the heart transplant, there's like three
- 17:24Speaker 2: kids or something or four kids.
- 17:26Speaker 1: And they feel like there's eight by the end of
- 17:28Speaker 1: the movie.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And then even in the final dance credit scene,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I was like, is Bonnie Ann's character pregnant right now?
- 17:34Speaker 1: Like did they get Irish Catholics? Man baby?
- 17:36Speaker 2: But honestly, and so you know, when they go to
- 17:41Speaker 2: the gorillas, she's literally holding like what baby is, like
- 17:44Speaker 2: a nine month old or something. Yeah, that's an interesting
- 17:49Speaker 2: point that you make about kids maybe not necessarily picking
- 17:51Speaker 2: up on a timeline, because it is really subtle in
- 17:54Speaker 2: the way that they do it right. It's not like
- 17:57Speaker 2: a flash over the screen that says one year late.
- 18:00Speaker 1: I think what impresses me the most about this movie,
- 18:03Speaker 1: besides the David Duchovny and Minnie Driver romance, is that
- 18:07Speaker 1: this movie sets the standard for the type of family
- 18:11Speaker 1: life I would want everyone to have and the type
- 18:13Speaker 1: of friendships that I would want everyone to have.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love Bonnie Hunt and Jim Belushi's relationship.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Like she's you know, they have their little corals or whatever,
- 18:25Speaker 2: because that's life. But then at the end of the day,
- 18:27Speaker 2: he still is attracted to his wife, and he still
- 18:30Speaker 2: wants to like be with her intimately, and he's still
- 18:33Speaker 2: like body rolls, yeah, which I think is very sweet.
- 18:45Speaker 2: They are still and like and even when she takes
- 18:48Speaker 2: off his shirt in the kitchen and you could see
- 18:50Speaker 2: it in her face or just like fall, my husband
- 18:53Speaker 2: is hot, you know, and it's just so sweet. It
- 18:55Speaker 2: doesn't have any of that animosity. We've had this conversation
- 18:58Speaker 2: recently where there's a lot of relationships demonstrated on television
- 19:01Speaker 2: where it's like you hate your spouse.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Right, and there's a lot of resentment. And I think
- 19:05Speaker 1: the most impressive thing about Jim Belushi's character is he
- 19:10Speaker 1: understands that his wife has been best friends with and
- 19:15Speaker 1: like her dad or grandpa is best friends with Gracie's
- 19:18Speaker 1: dad or grandpa, and he understands that, like his wife
- 19:25Speaker 1: has been friends with someone who has been chronically ill. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 1: and therefore there's like just a certain level of responsibility.
- 19:33Speaker 1: So he's never like, Gracie, why are you here right?
- 19:37Speaker 1: Why are you crying in my living room?
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, She's just aunt Gracie. Like it's very clear, like
- 19:42Speaker 2: she's a part of the family. There's no questions about
- 19:46Speaker 2: her role and how she fits, which is really sweet.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Stephanie will have her kids hype me up if I
- 19:53Speaker 1: tell her something and they're around and they need to
- 19:55Speaker 1: be distracted by me.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I love that.
- 20:01Speaker 1: But the level and even David Alan Greer trying to
- 20:05Speaker 1: help David d'coveney through all of the ron avenues aka
- 20:09Speaker 1: just women he knows, just really obnoxious women, because David
- 20:15Speaker 1: Allan Greer fucks and he's like, why aren't you fucking
- 20:19Speaker 1: you are.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Like your attractive man, get it.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Look at that ass. David. A company basically wears the
- 20:28Speaker 1: same oversized button downs as the entire cast of One
- 20:31Speaker 1: Tree Hill. But I wasn't complaining well, And.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Also I feel like because it's I feel like that's
- 20:37Speaker 2: a standard uniform for a guy who's on a construction site.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And how hot is it that he's on a construction side.
- 20:45Speaker 2: M yeah, yeah.
- 20:47Speaker 1: But then there's a whole the restaurant because I'm with you, Mario,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I want to go to that restaurant so fucking bad,
- 20:54Speaker 1: just so goddamn bad. Because so my grandpa used to
- 20:58Speaker 1: own a bar. I don't know how old my mom
- 21:01Speaker 1: was or how old any of the kids were when
- 21:03Speaker 1: my grandpa owned a bar, but like the Irish Italian restaurant,
- 21:07Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that would be my family's restaurant.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It would just be like people will be like, what
- 21:12Speaker 1: do you mean you didn't buy this? And then it's like,
- 21:15Speaker 1: we have cabbage but also ravioli. That's a meal I've had.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Because I don't know, I like, I grew up believing
- 21:25Speaker 1: that like mannicotti was called stuff spaghetti and was in
- 21:30Speaker 1: fact a Croatian delicacy.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I love that for you.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Oh well, I asked my mom. I asked my mom
- 21:37Speaker 1: one time at like Olive Garden. I was like, no,
- 21:41Speaker 1: why don't they only why don't they ever have stuff
- 21:43Speaker 1: spaghetti on the on the menu? Is stuff spaghetti only?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Something that? Like did aunt soony make it up? And
- 21:49Speaker 1: I was probably eleven, and she was like, you fucking moro,
- 21:53Speaker 1: Like it's called Mannicotti, that's what your great aunt calls it.
- 21:59Speaker 1: She's like, did you not know that yip yips were sloppy?
- 22:03Speaker 1: Joe's I go, no, I knew that.
- 22:07Speaker 2: I think it's sweet too, because like his story, I mean,
- 22:10Speaker 2: I mean, find an ethnic group that hasn't had a
- 22:12Speaker 2: problem with it with with the Irish haven't had a
- 22:15Speaker 2: problem with honestly, but it is really sweet that they're
- 22:19Speaker 2: like so intertwined with each other. And then I love
- 22:25Speaker 2: the way, excuse me, these old men always talk about
- 22:29Speaker 2: the crooners of their era and like battle basically do
- 22:33Speaker 2: like a battle of the voices, right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Like how would you pay?
- 22:36Speaker 2: Like let's build a dream team type of situation.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Literally, just like every fifth note is these beautiful old men,
- 22:44Speaker 1: these beautiful old men.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. This is Carol O'Connor's last film before he passes.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And he plays grandpa. Yeah, he plays oh Riley Oh
- 22:59Speaker 1: oh oh oh really I would just have loved like
- 23:04Speaker 1: to be that man. Well, and then he has to
- 23:07Speaker 1: basically raise Gracie because her mom dies so young from
- 23:10Speaker 1: I'm assuming the same heart condition.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because she did say her mom had heart disease.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Yeah. God, And I just I love Uncle Angelo. I
- 23:21Speaker 1: love that there's also like some other dude who we
- 23:24Speaker 1: never understand how he fits in the old man club,
- 23:27Speaker 1: but he marries Sophie at the end.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's just one of their old friends from
- 23:31Speaker 2: the neighborhood. I love Angelo. Here reminds me of like
- 23:35Speaker 2: all of my uncles who are not dead great uncles,
- 23:39Speaker 2: not my current and.
- 23:41Speaker 1: As you know, my grandpa and great uncles had just
- 23:44Speaker 1: a friend of the neighborhood who I thought was my
- 23:47Speaker 1: great uncle until I think he passed away, and then
- 23:50Speaker 1: my mom was like, no, he wasn't every I was like, well,
- 23:53Speaker 1: where did he fall in the birth order of great
- 23:55Speaker 1: Grandma's kids? And my mom was like what. I was like,
- 23:59Speaker 1: no tells me anything. You're just left to your own
- 24:02Speaker 1: devices to figure things out.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Natalie, figure it out on your own, right.
- 24:08Speaker 1: And I love the vibe of that restaurant because one
- 24:11Speaker 1: of the first things we see is another customer just
- 24:15Speaker 1: asking Grandpa, O'Reilly about Gracie. Yeah, He's like, are you
- 24:19Speaker 1: doing the Rosary? And I was like, oh. I was
- 24:21Speaker 1: like to be in a place every day where everyone
- 24:24Speaker 1: knows your name is a very my mom's side of
- 24:27Speaker 1: the family thing.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's sweet, it's comforting, it's community, it's showing
- 24:34Speaker 2: that it's more than just like you know, this is
- 24:37Speaker 2: us us, you know, it's very much what a community
- 24:40Speaker 2: should be, which is we all know our neighbors and
- 24:43Speaker 2: we all you know, commune in some way, whether that
- 24:46Speaker 2: be at the neighborhood Italian Irish restaurant, or at the
- 24:50Speaker 2: park or whatever it is, you know, and it's it's
- 24:53Speaker 2: it's just a really good it's just a really good
- 24:55Speaker 2: story and you can tell. Like again, Bonnie Hunt, she wrote,
- 25:00Speaker 2: she co wrote it with somebody, right, and then she
- 25:02Speaker 2: directed it. So when you have a story that is
- 25:05Speaker 2: so pure in its storytelling and its execution and the
- 25:10Speaker 2: leader of the execution is a woman, it's done really
- 25:13Speaker 2: well because because you imagine in the hands of a man,
- 25:17Speaker 2: then you lose the softness of David Duchovny. And even
- 25:21Speaker 2: David Alan Greer has a level of softness to you too,
- 25:25Speaker 2: where he's very caring and understanding about his friend but
- 25:28Speaker 2: still trying to push him in the ways that he
- 25:30Speaker 2: knows how. But eventually he's like, y'all play bingo with
- 25:33Speaker 2: the old people too, But it's not bingo. He's joking
- 25:36Speaker 2: because he's making a stereotype, you know, older people. But
- 25:40Speaker 2: it's just so, it's just the way, it's just so,
- 25:43Speaker 2: it's just so lovely, it's so pure the way there's
- 25:46Speaker 2: no talk like I don't even think. I was like,
- 25:48Speaker 2: none of these men are toxic in any way, shape
- 25:50Speaker 2: or form.
- 25:51Speaker 1: There was no bit of toxic. Every time I saw
- 25:53Speaker 1: Jim Belushi, he was holding one of his kids, and
- 25:57Speaker 1: as you know, that is like my only qualifier, yes
- 26:00Speaker 1: you do get to be called a good dad, is
- 26:02Speaker 1: if I look and you are constantly in arm with
- 26:07Speaker 1: one of your gremlins.
- 26:08Speaker 2: And he's taking them to bed and putting them to bed,
- 26:11Speaker 2: like he's not making it. It's his wife's responsibility in
- 26:15Speaker 2: that moment because her friend is there and they're having
- 26:17Speaker 2: a conversation. He's even trying to set this friend up
- 26:21Speaker 2: on dates like he's invested too, And I just we
- 26:25Speaker 2: don't see a lot of that really happening anymore in storytelling,
- 26:28Speaker 2: and it's I don't know, is it because it maybe
- 26:31Speaker 2: doesn't do well and people, the people who make the
- 26:34Speaker 2: decisions think that people don't want it, but I think
- 26:36Speaker 2: people want it.
- 26:37Speaker 1: I think people want it. I think that's what heart
- 26:39Speaker 1: Stopper taught me is that I literally just want here,
- 26:44Speaker 1: like this will just make my heart feel good and
- 26:47Speaker 1: continue to make my heart feel good because my heartfelt
- 26:49Speaker 1: good for all of return to me and said, shit
- 26:52Speaker 1: still happens.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly exactly, And it's so beautiful the way that
- 26:58Speaker 3: he's like, you know, he's what did he say he
- 27:02Speaker 3: was he had dated his wife since like they had
- 27:04Speaker 3: known each.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Other since fourteen and like dated since whatever, and so
- 27:07Speaker 2: basically his intact because she, you know, thirty four year
- 27:10Speaker 2: old females, so we know she's thirty four, So twenty
- 27:12Speaker 2: years of his life is spent with this woman.
- 27:14Speaker 1: When he explains to her that they've spent twenty years
- 27:18Speaker 1: and he's never actually dated, and then like you think
- 27:21Speaker 1: he's gonna ask Minnie Driver to kiss him, and then
- 27:24Speaker 1: in Stadhigo, so I was just wondering if I could
- 27:26Speaker 1: hold your hand. I'm like, why do you then not
- 27:30Speaker 1: understand that that's what we want? Yeah, it's so sweet.
- 27:35Speaker 2: And then even still when all of the like turmoil
- 27:37Speaker 2: happens and the misunderstanding and oh my gosh, here's where
- 27:40Speaker 2: we are. Even at the end, he's like, you know,
- 27:42Speaker 2: I loved my wife. I love my wife, she is
- 27:45Speaker 2: my world, but I ache for grace and you're just like,
- 27:48Speaker 2: I love that you're showing that you can still have
- 27:51Speaker 2: romantic loving feelings for a lost one but still are
- 27:55Speaker 2: able to like embrace that both can exist, That you
- 27:58Speaker 2: can have a current love that you're exploring and have
- 28:01Speaker 2: strong feelings for, but you're still able to like live
- 28:04Speaker 2: in both worlds of the past, and you're not like
- 28:08Speaker 2: holding on in a way that isn't allowing you to
- 28:10Speaker 2: be open for possibilities.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Well, and even when she has to reveal to him
- 28:15Speaker 1: that she is in fact the person who received his
- 28:18Speaker 1: wife's heart as a as an organ donor after she died,
- 28:24Speaker 1: that was also a lovely way to watch that go down,
- 28:28Speaker 1: because no one heightened it, right. He just kind of
- 28:31Speaker 1: looks at her and you can tell he's thinking it
- 28:34Speaker 1: over it, and he goes, I have to take a walk.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And then she doesn't like scream at him that this
- 28:40Speaker 1: isn't her fault or anything. She just lets him take
- 28:42Speaker 1: a walk. Yeah, And then she decides that she's also
- 28:46Speaker 1: just gonna give him like because now she does feel
- 28:48Speaker 1: like she is the reminder right of the tragedy that
- 28:53Speaker 1: he had at the beginning of the movie. Yeah, which
- 28:56Speaker 1: is fair, Which is fair. And then she gets to
- 28:59Speaker 1: go to Italy, which is all we ever want. We
- 29:02Speaker 1: want to flee men to Italy.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, I've never been to Italy, but from
- 29:08Speaker 2: my understanding is it there's a high level of objectification
- 29:13Speaker 2: that is very vocal.
- 29:15Speaker 1: We did see that in The White Lotus. Reste Tanya, Tanya.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Congratulations Jeff for Coolidge for winning the SAG Award.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Congratulations Aubrey Plaza for just getting caught like cussing men
- 29:32Speaker 1: at the SAG Awards when she people are blowing it
- 29:37Speaker 1: way out of proportion. Because I watched the clip and
- 29:39Speaker 1: I go, I know exactly what she's saying. Jesus Christ too,
- 29:42Speaker 1: she was literally shoved. I go, like, you know, they
- 29:46Speaker 1: hyped everyone up and she was like literally shoved. That
- 29:49Speaker 1: is also my response to being like Jesus fucking Christ like.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But the way that they well and I love that.
- 30:00Speaker 1: I love that that scene with the waiter who wants
- 30:03Speaker 1: to know why she's not painting.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Correct, even that is like a gentle soul moment. Too,
- 30:09Speaker 2: like she thinks he's gonna walk away and just be
- 30:13Speaker 2: like whatever, this chick is taking up my time in space,
- 30:17Speaker 2: not tive for me, pulls up a chair and says,
- 30:20Speaker 2: I got time time to break my break well.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And then even Bonnie Hunt, because as you know, I
- 30:26Speaker 1: truly believe that the truest love in your lives are
- 30:29Speaker 1: the women who support you. Absolutely they are your true soulmates.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Start bringing them to weddings, so you know, Minie driver Gracie.
- 30:38Speaker 1: She finds the letter in David Coovney's house about how
- 30:41Speaker 1: she and it's the letter she wrote to thank a
- 30:43Speaker 1: donor family for the heart and it all comes crashing
- 30:48Speaker 1: in on her. She immediately goes to Bonnie Hunt's house
- 30:51Speaker 1: and Bonnie Hunt's just like, I'll script it with you.
- 30:55Speaker 1: I'll drive you back, will tell him, I'll tell him,
- 30:58Speaker 1: I'll sit with you. I'll hold his hand like it's
- 31:02Speaker 1: the it's the we can do this because we've always
- 31:05Speaker 1: done the hard things. Vibe.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's not the whole. Okay, So you're having
- 31:11Speaker 2: a problem, So I'm just gonna wait over here in
- 31:13Speaker 2: the corner until you right or just this tea because
- 31:16Speaker 2: that's a huge vibe too right now, where it's like
- 31:18Speaker 2: I don't have time for whatever drama you have. And
- 31:21Speaker 2: again it goes back to the community thing, where it's
- 31:23Speaker 2: like we have to figure this shit out to You
- 31:26Speaker 2: can't figure this out on your own. No one should
- 31:28Speaker 2: have to figure this out. Emotions are big, they're complicated.
- 31:32Speaker 2: It's difficult to navigate when you're in the throes of it,
- 31:35Speaker 2: and sometimes you need an objective party to step in
- 31:38Speaker 2: and say, hey, now I got you.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Hey, now.
- 31:44Speaker 2: You need to walk through it. Like my son recently
- 31:47Speaker 2: went through something and there was just a lot of
- 31:49Speaker 2: financial expense in what was going on. And he sent
- 31:53Speaker 2: me a message and said, I'm you know, I really
- 31:54Speaker 2: appreciate all the support this month. I know it's been
- 31:57Speaker 2: a lot of money. And I said, you're still learning
- 32:00Speaker 2: to be an adult. You're in school. It's my job
- 32:05Speaker 2: to teach you how to adult. So that way, when
- 32:08Speaker 2: you're my age, you know what.
- 32:09Speaker 1: You're doing right, right, Because again, just like I didn't
- 32:15Speaker 1: know that stuff Spaghetti was fucking me and Akati, we
- 32:19Speaker 1: don't know until someone tells us the word fucking me
- 32:21Speaker 1: and Nakati, right, And.
- 32:23Speaker 2: I'm still and there's a lot of stuff about growing
- 32:26Speaker 2: up and being like an adult who can take care
- 32:30Speaker 2: of herself. That I don't know. And I'm almost thirty
- 32:33Speaker 2: nine today.
- 32:34Speaker 1: I didn't know what the tornado siren sounded like because
- 32:37Speaker 1: I think ours is stupid, and I was like, that
- 32:39Speaker 1: could be anything. It's just like a low hum in
- 32:43Speaker 1: the air, and I was like, that could be the
- 32:44Speaker 1: tornado siren. That could be my hearing going out because
- 32:48Speaker 1: I'm stressed.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Out, like you know, you know, and it just it
- 32:52Speaker 4: it It's breaks my heart that now we kind of
- 32:55Speaker 4: live in this world where it's like I ain't got
- 32:57Speaker 4: time for your problems, and it's like, well, I don't
- 33:00Speaker 4: have time for my problems either.
- 33:01Speaker 2: But I don't know what to do and I would
- 33:03Speaker 2: like to have somebody to turn to. Now.
- 33:07Speaker 1: I will say that there is like a delicate balance
- 33:10Speaker 1: because there is like the immediately of like I've known
- 33:13Speaker 1: you for two weeks and here are my problems.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Yeah, that's different. It's yeah, I'm not saying like there
- 33:20Speaker 2: should be like three jumping out of the gate. You're
- 33:23Speaker 2: running to me and we've just met, and you you know,
- 33:26Speaker 2: it's chaos all the time. There is a healthy balance,
- 33:29Speaker 2: like we all life ebbs and flows, and if your
- 33:32Speaker 2: life is constantly in a position place of chaos, then
- 33:36Speaker 2: I recommend you get a professional who is licensed in
- 33:41Speaker 2: mental health in some way to support you, because that
- 33:44Speaker 2: is above my ability, right.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Oh about the so when the woman tells Grandpa O'Reilly
- 33:55Speaker 1: that she's still praying for Gracie and like doing the
- 33:58Speaker 1: rosary and whatever, I was like, what does that kind
- 34:02Speaker 1: of like community feel like? And then I was like,
- 34:05Speaker 1: oh no, that's how it felt every time a neighbor
- 34:08Speaker 1: would tell me that they were still looking for Penelope
- 34:10Speaker 1: when she was lost, Like I couldn't walk down my
- 34:12Speaker 1: street without an old lady taking my hand and being like,
- 34:16Speaker 1: we're still just looking for so let us know when
- 34:18Speaker 1: she's home.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. A friend of mine, her dog had gotten
- 34:23Speaker 2: loose a couple of days ago. She posted on Instagram
- 34:26Speaker 2: and you know, please screen grab this and share. And
- 34:29Speaker 2: I did, but I didn't tagger in it because it's
- 34:31Speaker 2: like I don't need you have you put a phone
- 34:33Speaker 2: number of people can see your hand, you know, It's like,
- 34:35Speaker 2: I don't know, it feels self serving. If I tagged
- 34:38Speaker 2: her and we were dming about it, because she was like,
- 34:42Speaker 2: thank you so much for sharing and I told, I said,
- 34:44Speaker 2: the community is going to come through. I just know it.
- 34:47Speaker 2: The next day, the next day, she posted that she
- 34:50Speaker 2: got her dog back, and it's like, that's I mean,
- 34:53Speaker 2: that's this is the power of the And granted, dogs
- 34:58Speaker 2: are not a small situation, because you know a lot
- 35:01Speaker 2: of people have dogs in their lives because they love
- 35:04Speaker 2: them and all the things. But imagine if it was
- 35:06Speaker 2: like a crisis that was a little different, if it
- 35:09Speaker 2: was a health crisis or a crisis with a child
- 35:12Speaker 2: or you know something else. Like the power that we
- 35:15Speaker 2: wield when we support each other and care for each
- 35:18Speaker 2: other is just incredible. Yeah, And there's no space for
- 35:23Speaker 2: that to exist anymore.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Well, and then like, and I truly believe that it
- 35:28Speaker 1: should only be about three people, Like you should be
- 35:31Speaker 1: taking care of three people, and three people are taking
- 35:34Speaker 1: care of you, because if it gets too like far spread,
- 35:39Speaker 1: then that like dilutes my energy to help. So I'm
- 35:43Speaker 1: thinking about like my famous story of asking a man
- 35:47Speaker 1: that I was fucking to go get me a smoothie
- 35:49Speaker 1: because I was dying of the flu. I was dehydrated
- 35:52Speaker 1: and dying and I was like, smoothie, Kane is going
- 35:56Speaker 1: to charge me thirty five dollars to make me delivered
- 36:00Speaker 1: the smoothie, and he's like, sucks. It just sucks. And
- 36:04Speaker 1: my friend she had worked a nine to ten hour
- 36:09Speaker 1: nanny day cleaning someone else's house, right, like watching someone
- 36:14Speaker 1: else's kids and dog, and she went to the grocery
- 36:18Speaker 1: store after work and then like heed into my house
- 36:22Speaker 1: because I give women the key to my house. And
- 36:25Speaker 1: I woke up and I had flowers and I had
- 36:28Speaker 1: ginger ale, and I had like soft things to put
- 36:30Speaker 1: in my mouth. She's like, here's pudding, here's stuff that
- 36:33Speaker 1: you can literally just like she had put stuff by
- 36:35Speaker 1: the couch. She's like, you're not dying. Yeah, And people
- 36:39Speaker 1: die of the flu because you're too sick to deal
- 36:44Speaker 1: with it, right, And not everyone My single friends and
- 36:48Speaker 1: I talk about that all the time, where it's like, well,
- 36:50Speaker 1: not everyone has a backup person to mop the floor
- 36:54Speaker 1: when you're depressed. Yeah, we talk about that all the time.
- 36:56Speaker 1: When I wake up out of my depression and I'm like,
- 36:59Speaker 1: this is what the hell looks like? God, right, damn
- 37:01Speaker 1: it right.
- 37:04Speaker 2: I went so my birthdays in a few weeks, and
- 37:07Speaker 2: as I was trying to figure out what I wanted
- 37:10Speaker 2: to do, and we're you know what, I wanted to whatever,
- 37:13Speaker 2: and I was like going through the list of people
- 37:15Speaker 2: I wanted to invite, and it's like, oh, everyone lives
- 37:20Speaker 2: ninety minutes away. M h for like the bulk of
- 37:24Speaker 2: the guest list lives ninety minutes away, right, that's real
- 37:30Speaker 2: great if I'm having a problem on that needs somebody
- 37:34Speaker 2: here in ten minutes right, correct, It's like I need
- 37:43Speaker 2: to as much as I struggle with living here and
- 37:45Speaker 2: the social circle is really tiny, I really need to
- 37:48Speaker 2: figure something out because it's like I don't.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Know, well, yeah, it's hard. It's just and it feels
- 37:56Speaker 1: like everything is against us currently to be having the
- 38:00Speaker 1: kind of community that we see being very possible and
- 38:04Speaker 1: return to me, even when Gracie says, I forgot that
- 38:06Speaker 1: I have to watch Helen's kids, and David d'covany's like,
- 38:09Speaker 1: I'll go watch Helen's kids. I like those kids.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's supposed.
- 38:13Speaker 1: To be like they're getting on date mm hmm. Like
- 38:18Speaker 1: she shaved your legs beyond above the knee. This was
- 38:21Speaker 1: the movie that taught us that if you shave your
- 38:23Speaker 1: legs be above the knee for day ure slut, No.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Just shave them in general.
- 38:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh that's right. Bonnie Hunt was like, don't
- 38:29Speaker 1: even take a little bit.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Of a razor to it. And then Minnie Driver wore
- 38:33Speaker 2: a skirt on the date.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Huh.
- 38:35Speaker 2: I was like, that's not the advice she gave you.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Many char legs look smooth to me, Like this watch
- 38:43Speaker 1: through of the movie made me realize how virginal like
- 38:47Speaker 1: Minie Driver's life had to be because of her illness.
- 38:50Speaker 1: So I was like, david' covany's probably the first man
- 38:52Speaker 1: who's ever kissed her, and what a lucky girl.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Yeah, well, and he's equally innocent if he's been with
- 38:58Speaker 2: his wife since they were fouren, you know, right.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And I'm so glad it wasn't one of like those
- 39:03Speaker 1: gross dynamics where it's like I'm a girl who's just
- 39:07Speaker 1: new to this all because I was in a hospital
- 39:10Speaker 1: for a long long time. And I'm you over there,
- 39:14Speaker 1: mister playboy, because we've seen that movie. That's how every
- 39:19Speaker 1: porno starts, is how every porno starts. It's probably how
- 39:24Speaker 1: California Cation started. Honestly, David, could you weigh in?
- 39:30Speaker 2: David, I I'm so curious now about his life in
- 39:35Speaker 2: tayo Leoni that I need to like google this.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Listen. You know what, the only thing that would have
- 39:42Speaker 1: made this movie better is Marissa Tomey being in it.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I love Marisa tome We love Marissa Tomey. We love also,
- 39:52Speaker 1: I would like to talk about like Bonnie Hunt for
- 39:54Speaker 1: one thing. I I was like, oh my god, where
- 39:58Speaker 1: has Jim Belushi been?
- 40:00Speaker 2: Didn't he do a TV show Eight Simple Rules of
- 40:03Speaker 2: Dating My Daughter?
- 40:04Speaker 1: No, that was John Ritter, but he had it was
- 40:07Speaker 1: like grounded for Life? I think was Jim Belushi's.
- 40:14Speaker 2: It's hard to remember stuff.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I swear to God it was grounded for Life.
- 40:18Speaker 2: You're probably right, but I'm just like, I.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Swear to the Jesus that Grandpa O'Reilly really really liked
- 40:28Speaker 1: the baby Jesus.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Okay, how long ago? I gotta scroll rape way back
- 40:32Speaker 2: because I am I don't like it.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Why would you go straight to Oh? It wasn't grounded
- 40:37Speaker 1: for Life either. He did have a sitcom. Yeah, but
- 40:45Speaker 1: I looked him up because I knew that one of
- 40:47Speaker 1: the Belushies was dead. It turns out it's John. Yeah.
- 40:49Speaker 2: John, that was a big, kind of a big deal.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Would you like to make a million dollar guess as
- 40:55Speaker 1: to what Jim Belushi is doing.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Now, well, I'm I'm on IMDb at the moment.
- 41:03Speaker 1: You're not gonna find it there, Okay, then tell me
- 41:08Speaker 1: he's a cannabis farmer. Really yeah, I had to google it.
- 41:14Speaker 1: I was like, where is my friend Jim Belushi? This big,
- 41:17Speaker 1: big man who has no toxic masculinity in him. I
- 41:20Speaker 1: also never remember Jim Belushi being toxically male in any
- 41:24Speaker 1: of the shit that he would do.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think he was in a sitcom. According
- 41:30Speaker 2: to IMDb.
- 41:35Speaker 1: He did a lot of voice acting.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he's got a lot of cartoons, and then he
- 41:41Speaker 2: did a.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Lot of one spots. Yeah, huh. I wonder why we
- 41:46Speaker 1: thought he would starred in one of our favorite sitcoms.
- 41:50Speaker 2: What did you say?
- 41:50Speaker 1: Grounded for Life? Grounded for Life? But it's a different dude.
- 41:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a different dude. I did love that show.
- 41:57Speaker 2: That is somebody who's last name, her name I can't pronounce,
- 42:04Speaker 2: so we won't.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Batman should have been better, I don't know. Oh, he
- 42:10Speaker 1: was in Koblam. I love Coblam. Oh. Eight Simple Rules
- 42:14Speaker 1: was John Rider?
- 42:16Speaker 2: No David Spade and James Garner.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Oh and John Ritter because David Spade stepped in after
- 42:24Speaker 1: John Ridder died. That's the show that John Ridder died on.
- 42:29Speaker 2: Right, That's why. But he shouldn't have a higher line item.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Because I can't remember. He might have done different more seasons.
- 42:39Speaker 1: I never watched that show. I just know that David
- 42:43Speaker 1: Spade's the one that took over after John Ritter died.
- 42:46Speaker 1: He's like the uncle that moves in or something.
- 42:49Speaker 2: Right, and then it promptly failed.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I love David Spade back to me.
- 42:55Speaker 2: No, I'm not saying bad or good.
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, someone please get ahold of JIMSI
- 43:00Speaker 1: and just have him call me. I would love to
- 43:02Speaker 1: see Jim. Where's Bonnie Hunt? Where is my Beethoven? Mommy
- 43:06Speaker 1: Bonnie Hunt? I need more Bonnie Hunt representation in the
- 43:10Speaker 1: twenty twenties?
- 43:11Speaker 2: Where is Bonnie Hut?
- 43:13Speaker 1: Is she Johnny.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Just turning into a googling session.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Also the fact that the beautiful old man these beautiful
- 43:27Speaker 1: old man that I am obsessed with.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Oh, she's an executive producer on a show.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Which one her most recent.
- 43:36Speaker 2: One is listed as Amber Brown. I've never heard of it.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I've never heard of it either.
- 43:40Speaker 2: She has a show coming out called Red One, and
- 43:44Speaker 2: it's she plays missus Claws.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 43:48Speaker 2: She has a lot of voice work.
- 43:50Speaker 1: That's usually where the people who I haven't seen in
- 43:53Speaker 1: a while are.
- 43:54Speaker 2: The Peter Austin Noto show. Have you heard that about that?
- 43:58Speaker 2: That's twenty seventeen, and then the Corona Dialogues a Dylan
- 44:04Speaker 2: Brodie project.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Again. How many things are you gonna read before the
- 44:10Speaker 1: hyper focus fades?
- 44:11Speaker 2: Okay? Sorry? One more? The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. I've
- 44:15Speaker 2: never heard of that.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Until we get to Beethoven and I'm like, yeah, that's
- 44:18Speaker 1: the one. I just said.
- 44:20Speaker 2: No, I'm looking at the most because you said twenty twenties,
- 44:23Speaker 2: so I was reading the twenty twenties.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I love the Beethoven the movies because I love big Dogs.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Weren't those written by John Hughes? Stop? Okay, we can't
- 44:33Speaker 2: be real because I'm just gonna keep asking IMDb to
- 44:36Speaker 2: confirm what I know.
- 44:38Speaker 1: I can't help it. Everywhere that I say makes you
- 44:41Speaker 1: google a thing, like I can just be like me
- 44:45Speaker 1: in trivia, just living without knowing something for ten minutes.
- 44:49Speaker 1: It's ten minutes, but then I'll forget to look it
- 44:52Speaker 1: up to see me man, and then we'll never know
- 44:54Speaker 1: what Bonnie Hunt's been doing. But she damn is so brilliant.
- 44:59Speaker 1: She needs she is, That's what I'm saying. Also, do
- 45:02Speaker 1: you know what a fun little thing that I caught
- 45:05Speaker 1: this go around? Because I was like, David d' coveney,
- 45:07Speaker 1: stop feeding that gorilla French fries. I don't. But then
- 45:11Speaker 1: I was looking at the French fries because I was
- 45:13Speaker 1: very hyper focused on it. I was like, movie magic.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Those are apple slices, and we're gonna have apple slices. Yeah,
- 45:21Speaker 1: it's like movie magic. They cut the apples to look
- 45:23Speaker 1: like fries. I think that's brilliant.
- 45:25Speaker 2: They probably got like one of those like Golden Delicious,
- 45:28Speaker 2: so it looks like a fry on the inside, because
- 45:30Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Oh okay, so we have to talk about the animals
- 45:34Speaker 1: and the mysticism of it all. Okay, So how do
- 45:38Speaker 1: you feel about the fact that Elizabeth Soul clearly traveled
- 45:42Speaker 1: with the heart into Mini driver because it keeps like
- 45:45Speaker 1: clicking when David the copany's near, and then like the
- 45:49Speaker 1: gorilla is able to like connect with her.
- 45:54Speaker 2: I love it, and I'm pretty sure this is one
- 45:57Speaker 2: of the reasons why I believe in that stuff a lot,
- 46:01Speaker 2: because I feel like your heart is your soul.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Yeah. It was one of those things that like I
- 46:09Speaker 1: thought about last night where I was like, Okay, when
- 46:13Speaker 1: I die and I become a flowering tree, do I
- 46:17Speaker 1: believe that my soul stays with the flowering tree that
- 46:21Speaker 1: I decided to come with because that's where my body is,
- 46:24Speaker 1: Or do I believe that my soul just gets recycled
- 46:27Speaker 1: into the next thing that my energy needs to go towards,
- 46:31Speaker 1: because like with it traveling with the physical heart, I
- 46:34Speaker 1: was like, well, now Elizabeth's soul isn't free.
- 46:40Speaker 2: You know, that's an interesting point because Elizabeth's soul can't
- 46:44Speaker 2: be free because Sydney's still not taken care of. Oh
- 46:48Speaker 2: Sydney the go woolah. Yeah, so it makes sense that
- 46:52Speaker 2: she would like stick around to make sure that that
- 46:55Speaker 2: like got handled.
- 46:58Speaker 1: And as we know, I love sign language speaking gorillas. Yeah,
- 47:04Speaker 1: I and it, And then it made me go, is
- 47:08Speaker 1: their love actually?
- 47:09Speaker 3: Like?
- 47:11Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm reading the invisible lives of Addie LaRue
- 47:16Speaker 1: and she clearly loves people, but they cannot remember her.
- 47:20Speaker 1: So it's like, does that in fact cancel out the
- 47:22Speaker 1: love and like, and then she finds another cursed man
- 47:25Speaker 1: and it's like, well, now it's just love out of convenience.
- 47:28Speaker 1: So then with like David Ducoveney and Minnie Driver in
- 47:31Speaker 1: this very pure movie, I was like, does this almost
- 47:34Speaker 1: not count because it's his dead wife?
- 47:37Speaker 2: No, but I think it counts because it's still many Driver. Yeah,
- 47:41Speaker 2: it's not like she became Elizabeth, right.
- 47:45Speaker 1: It wasn't like a what's that? What's that movie with
- 47:49Speaker 1: like Matthew Roderick where he like or like Robert Downey
- 47:52Speaker 1: Junior or some cross some man that looks cross between
- 47:55Speaker 1: two of them, where he dies and then he becomes it.
- 47:59Speaker 1: He like reincarnates in his daughter's boyfriend's body and starts
- 48:03Speaker 1: fucking the mom.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you know, I have to look it.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Up because I'm just a really fucked movie. We have
- 48:11Speaker 1: a lot of fucked movies where men die and they
- 48:14Speaker 1: come back in younger bodies and they're like, do I
- 48:16Speaker 1: fuck my daughter? Or do I fuck my ex wife?
- 48:19Speaker 1: And it's like, you never fuck your daughter?
- 48:21Speaker 2: You never? You never. It's so gross.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Why was that? Why was that a thing?
- 48:30Speaker 2: Why was that?
- 48:31Speaker 1: Can someone explain to me who wrote that movie? Now?
- 48:34Speaker 1: I refuse to believe that Beethoven is a John Hughes movie.
- 48:37Speaker 1: But if you were like Robbie Downey Junior in his
- 48:40Speaker 1: Daughter's Boyfriend Fucking Her Mom movie, I was like, John Hughes,
- 48:43Speaker 1: he came.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Up with that. Yeah, but he John Hughes wrote Beethoven,
- 48:47Speaker 2: but he wrote Under. He had a different name. He
- 48:49Speaker 2: wrote Under four movies like that.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Whatever, it's a beautiful and that's why the man in
- 48:53Speaker 1: Beethoven is so angry and he needs a dog to
- 48:57Speaker 1: save him, just like David to come and he needed
- 48:59Speaker 1: that gorilla to save him. I like, as you know,
- 49:03Speaker 1: I think, so I didn't. I was very nervous today
- 49:06Speaker 1: during the tornado because the house was making moving water
- 49:09Speaker 1: sounds and I was like, oh, that's when you know
- 49:12Speaker 1: that the tornado is near you.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 49:16Speaker 1: No. So I was just trying to keep it together
- 49:19Speaker 1: for a Penelope because she hates being in the bathroom
- 49:22Speaker 1: when we're on like tornado lockdown, and she's like, I
- 49:26Speaker 1: was like, I know this is bad, and like we
- 49:30Speaker 1: were just trading like stressed tummy noises back and forth.
- 49:33Speaker 1: But then five minutes before the official alert was supposed
- 49:37Speaker 1: to be done, a friend texted me it was like,
- 49:39Speaker 1: my job SAYSA it's done, And I was like, what
- 49:42Speaker 1: is your job? No, which it's a college. What do
- 49:46Speaker 1: they know? I worked at a college during a tornado.
- 49:49Speaker 1: They couldn't get us into the basement, Oh my god,
- 49:52Speaker 1: because the keys didn't work. So what does your college know?
- 49:56Speaker 1: But anyway, so I was still sitting there, but then
- 49:58Speaker 1: I noticed that Penelo had calmed her shit down and
- 50:02Speaker 1: was finally purring and could go to sleep. I was like,
- 50:05Speaker 1: tornadoes over animals.
- 50:06Speaker 2: No, they just know, they just know.
- 50:09Speaker 1: They're very intuitive.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Can we note that? I can't even imagine, Like I
- 50:17Speaker 2: live in California and everyone's terrified because of her, Like
- 50:20Speaker 2: everybody doesn't live here is terrified because.
- 50:22Speaker 5: Of her earthquakes earthquakes, But I can handle it because
- 50:28Speaker 5: they have like systems in place, so like millions of
- 50:33Speaker 5: people don't die.
- 50:35Speaker 2: But with a tornado, like, how do you even do
- 50:39Speaker 2: anything other than burrow into the ground.
- 50:42Speaker 1: To stay safe? I wish I know. I was in
- 50:47Speaker 1: the bathroom and my sister was like, did you bring
- 50:49Speaker 1: a blanket? And I was like, no, it's hard enough
- 50:50Speaker 1: getting the fucking cap in here.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Terrified of free falling.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Maybe I should just start keeping an extra blanket in
- 50:58Speaker 1: the spare bathroom, or people doomsday prep.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Or not even but not even like doomsday prep, just
- 51:05Speaker 2: like emergency preparedness.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Right. Also, can we talk about how like in this
- 51:10Speaker 1: movie rich people real fucking drag, just like in Titanic.
- 51:16Speaker 2: I didn't think they were as much of a drag
- 51:19Speaker 2: as the title.
- 51:20Speaker 1: David ellen Greer did not want to talk to any
- 51:22Speaker 1: of them.
- 51:23Speaker 2: David ellen Greer wanted to get it on like he
- 51:26Speaker 2: was not having any of it because he was like,
- 51:29Speaker 2: y'all are not a vibe.
- 51:31Speaker 1: I need to know who directed that woman who was
- 51:33Speaker 1: at the party with David ellen Greer, because I know
- 51:35Speaker 1: it was not Bonnie. Bonnie would not just have a
- 51:37Speaker 1: woman stand there doing.
- 51:38Speaker 2: This, doing the dancing. I was like, what is that happening?
- 51:41Speaker 1: It wasn't dancing. Dancing would be one. She was like,
- 51:46Speaker 1: I'm like, ma'am, ma'am, are you okay?
- 51:49Speaker 2: It was like her version of dancing. Yeah, but like,
- 51:52Speaker 2: what music do you hear in your head? But that's
- 51:56Speaker 2: because the music that was playing at the party and
- 51:58Speaker 2: the way you were moving your body. It doesn't make sense.
- 52:03Speaker 2: It does not make sense. David Allen Greer, I want
- 52:05Speaker 2: to know where you get your ladies. Well, we saw
- 52:09Speaker 2: that obnoxious lady who was like, I don't drink tap water, and.
- 52:12Speaker 1: I'm like me either. Listen, there's a way nicer way
- 52:15Speaker 1: to ask. I don't drink the tap water in Chicago either.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I know what they do to the river for Saint
- 52:20Speaker 1: Patrick's Day. Okay, but that we gotta to talk about
- 52:24Speaker 1: the lady for a moment. I was like, if.
- 52:26Speaker 2: There was ever a lesson in how white women behave,
- 52:31Speaker 2: this is it. Yeah, because when many Driver's character just porn, Hey,
- 52:39Speaker 2: hand me the aquafina and then pours out the water
- 52:42Speaker 2: and then feels it with tap water, and then the
- 52:44Speaker 2: lady's like, oh, that's the stuff. It's so good. It's
- 52:47Speaker 2: just like good, You're so bad, your pretentious little shit
- 52:53Speaker 2: who wants Oh my god. I was like, you're This
- 52:55Speaker 2: is how I learned. This is how I learned I
- 52:58Speaker 2: should have taken Bonnie Hunts advice by watching this and
- 53:02Speaker 2: realizing that there's gonna be a lot of women like
- 53:04Speaker 2: that in my life and they're all gonna be white.
- 53:07Speaker 1: Well, and like the moment that they sit down, she's
- 53:11Speaker 1: like where is a waitress? She's singing a song she's
- 53:15Speaker 1: singing Buena Sarah, let her be and then she like
- 53:21Speaker 1: gets out her puppies. She's like, oh, or Manchi, manchi, manchi.
- 53:25Speaker 1: Don't worry, I will just get naked. I'm like, what
- 53:27Speaker 1: do you do?
- 53:28Speaker 2: And the way she's constantly hitting him in the shoulder
- 53:31Speaker 2: and it's not even like a like a oh my god,
- 53:33Speaker 2: it's like a boom boom, like I'm just pounding my
- 53:36Speaker 2: arm into your like.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Hello, this is what I want you to do to
- 53:39Speaker 1: me against the wall.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Later yeah, I'm just like, honey, do you wanna do
- 53:43Speaker 2: you wanna have a chat about why you're still single?
- 53:47Speaker 1: And then David Allen Greer Trader, He's like, why are
- 53:50Speaker 1: you leaving? Because, bro, you said you tricked me. Yeah,
- 53:53Speaker 1: this is gaslighting. This is gaslighting. David Allen Greer, I refuse,
- 53:59Speaker 1: I refuse to be part of it. But yeah, that lady.
- 54:04Speaker 1: And then I love that those sweet old men when
- 54:10Speaker 1: they asked David to company you married and he goes,
- 54:12Speaker 1: I was, and they're like, oh no that didn't work out.
- 54:15Speaker 1: And he's like, well she's dead. And his Grandpa's like,
- 54:17Speaker 1: oh no, I hate to hear it.
- 54:20Speaker 2: And I'm like oh, And then they were like, come
- 54:23Speaker 2: here and sit down at this table with us and
- 54:25Speaker 2: play a poker game cards.
- 54:29Speaker 1: And then Sophie walks in and she's like, how the
- 54:31Speaker 1: fuck did you get roped into this? And then he
- 54:34Speaker 1: helps her cover her flowers.
- 54:37Speaker 2: That's really cute.
- 54:38Speaker 1: He doesn't even know that he's gonna get laid yet,
- 54:41Speaker 1: and he takes an interest in her hobby. Why don't
- 54:45Speaker 1: men know that that's more of a turn on than
- 54:47Speaker 1: anything else.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I don't know, because there's too many Rosses in the world.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Fucking ross, worst human, worst character. Everything is the worst.
- 55:01Speaker 1: About ross in Ross. I know this truly. This movie
- 55:08Speaker 1: set the standard for me. I was like, one day
- 55:11Speaker 1: a man who has lovely feathered hair like David Dukufney,
- 55:15Speaker 1: soft hair and a butt that looks great in jeans
- 55:19Speaker 1: and khakis, Yeah, is going to show up and ask
- 55:23Speaker 1: me to hold my hand, and then I will be
- 55:26Speaker 1: like our soul's matchup, and he's gonna be like, yeah, baby,
- 55:30Speaker 1: they do, and then we're gonna fuck in Italy?
- 55:33Speaker 2: Do you you think men still wear khakis?
- 55:37Speaker 1: I don't know what men do because I number one,
- 55:41Speaker 1: men aren't allowed near me until I get my abortion
- 55:43Speaker 1: rights back.
- 55:44Speaker 2: All my male friends are married except for Mario, but
- 55:47Speaker 2: he lives an hour away, so I don't actually see
- 55:49Speaker 2: him in person, So.
- 55:54Speaker 1: I guess I have to update my fantasy where Mini
- 55:57Speaker 1: driver takes me to Italy and says that it's just again.
- 56:02Speaker 1: We talk a lot about how like movies set us
- 56:05Speaker 1: up to believe certain things about relationships, But this was
- 56:08Speaker 1: the thing that we should have believed, that the relationship
- 56:11Speaker 1: was supposed to be.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Yes, the actual standard we should expect because it's pure,
- 56:16Speaker 2: it's honest, there's shared interest, there's emotional intimacy. We do
- 56:23Speaker 2: not see a lot of emotional intimacy and other things.
- 56:27Speaker 2: It's straight physical intimacy. So when the physical intimacy wears off,
- 56:32Speaker 2: everyone's like, oh, the I want to do one now,
- 56:33Speaker 2: And you're like, well, you should have some emotional intimacy too,
- 56:37Speaker 2: cirt and ma'am or mam and ma'am or certain.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I think also in the very little slice of life
- 56:43Speaker 1: that we get with Elizabeth and Bob, it's very much
- 56:49Speaker 1: very weare that he is her partner. Yeah, he goes
- 56:53Speaker 1: to pick up her dress, he walks the dog in
- 56:56Speaker 1: his tuxs because he's a moron, or because.
- 57:00Speaker 2: He's just really sweet and wanted to make sure it
- 57:02Speaker 2: got done. But he saw the note after he got
- 57:04Speaker 2: in his tucks.
- 57:07Speaker 1: He his construction company is literally in charge of her
- 57:16Speaker 1: lifetime achievement project. Yeah, and some other stupid person would
- 57:21Speaker 1: be like nepotism or I don't want to work for
- 57:23Speaker 1: the zoo. Zoos don't pay. And by the way, when
- 57:26Speaker 1: I was a kid, getting into the Lincoln Park Zoo
- 57:28Speaker 1: was free. I don't know if that's still the case.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Oh. Interesting, but he's a free zoo. And he even
- 57:34Speaker 2: comments like this month, this job doesn't make any money
- 57:37Speaker 2: for me, I can pack up and leave. I don't
- 57:39Speaker 2: understand why you're trying, because they do. The zoo does
- 57:42Speaker 2: try to change some things that Elizabeth wouldn't have approved
- 57:46Speaker 2: if she were still with us, And he's like, you
- 57:48Speaker 2: have to do it this way or I'm out. You're
- 57:50Speaker 2: not gonna find anybody who's going to do it for
- 57:52Speaker 2: the low low cost of what I'm doing it for.
- 57:54Speaker 1: I cried when the monkey got to go in his
- 57:56Speaker 1: new home. I know, as we know, I love Gorilla.
- 58:00Speaker 1: It was really sweet. He was really really sweet, and
- 58:03Speaker 1: he Sinny did just look so sad, and he looked
- 58:07Speaker 1: so confused as to why he was in that tunnel.
- 58:09Speaker 1: He's like, why am I in a tunnel?
- 58:12Speaker 2: Can I just roam free? Please?
- 58:13Speaker 1: That's why I love about gorillas is that they like
- 58:16Speaker 1: you can actually see their emotion. I mean, I believe
- 58:19Speaker 1: that you can also read dog and cat faces. Truly,
- 58:23Speaker 1: I can tell you what any animal is feeling at
- 58:25Speaker 1: any moment of the.
- 58:26Speaker 2: Haven't you seen Josephine's confused face and her worried face
- 58:30Speaker 2: and her happy face? Like I'm sure I post about
- 58:32Speaker 2: it all the time. So like.
- 58:37Speaker 1: That, I mean that gorilla actor was probably confused as
- 58:40Speaker 1: to why he had to interact with David Dukeemney at all.
- 58:43Speaker 1: He was probably just a gorilla who happened to be
- 58:45Speaker 1: at Lincoln Park Zoo. Like the best behaving gorilla got
- 58:48Speaker 1: to be in the movie.
- 58:50Speaker 2: Yeah, knee Driver, like this one will win.
- 58:56Speaker 1: It's just so sweet. The whole premise is really sweet. Yeah,
- 59:00Speaker 1: because it's like it tells you that like second chances
- 59:04Speaker 1: are always just around the corner. Yeah, and that you're
- 59:09Speaker 1: allowed to be nuanced and conflicted about things. Yeah.
- 59:13Speaker 2: I think that's actually the best part about the movie
- 59:16Speaker 2: is that it's like two things can exist at once,
- 59:19Speaker 2: and you don't have to figure it out all right now,
- 59:22Speaker 2: right now, like you can take the time to really
- 59:25Speaker 2: get into figuring it out.
- 59:27Speaker 1: You sure can. Yeah, David to covenany told us, so, Copany,
- 59:33Speaker 1: why don't you love me?
- 59:34Speaker 2: But this isn't a bad thing.
- 59:37Speaker 1: It's a bad thing for me. Maybe he's been through therapy.
- 59:41Speaker 1: We don't know my money.
- 59:43Speaker 2: You told me. I can't google anything else on the show,
- 59:46Speaker 2: so I can't look up what he's doing.
- 59:48Speaker 1: He looked fine on the chair. I just I love it,
- 59:55Speaker 1: Oh my god, just like it, like it.
- 59:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Actually the X Files is in syndication. It's on
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: the cable all the time.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: At first I thought it's been in syndication since I
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: was a kid. Yeah, yeah, but you know what I.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Mean, Like sometimes stuff like will go oh yeah, and yeah,
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: it's like still on TV.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: David d'coveny, because like my first note was like, oh
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: my god, he's got such a baby face. And mini
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: drivers always look like mini driver just like mature and
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: beautiful in all of it. But David dukeveny had a
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: baby face in this one. And but then I was like, oh,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: but it's criminal. How good looking he is? I know,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: who who the fuck told me that fucking Edward Colin
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: that someone did a science experiment, and they were like,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: it's actually Robert Pattinson, who is the epitome of what
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: like a beautiful man is supposed to be, Like he's
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: the perfect specimen of man. And I was like, have
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: you not seen David du Coveney.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Jason.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Jason, Jason Moa, David Batista, Michael B.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: Jordan's currently obsessed with looking at Jonathan.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Major, Yes, Chadwick Bosman, Like, I hate looking at Robert Pattinson.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: He's Pedro Pascal, He's not. I hate looking at Robert
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: I find that I would prefer a partner who couldn't
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: hide behind me if they needed to.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: No short knees, jewels, she just not even.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: Just sort not even so slight, also slight.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: He's shaped like a triangle because I'm like a skinny Natalie,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I'm five to five and I'm a thick woman. So
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: like if you can step behind me and no one
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: knows you're there, I'm not. I'm an average heighte woman.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: This is a vagina, but also Robert Pattenson. And my
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: point has been made. I hate looking at Robert Pattenson,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: and I think it is criminal that someone paid science
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: money science saint cheap. He.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I will argue that he does have the chin for
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: the Batman mask. When he takes it off, You're just like.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: I'm truly so pissed off about how we've ruined Batman.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Remember when Batman was cool?
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: I mean, I always felt like the nineties was the.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Nineties were the peak.
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: Batman's Michael Keaton and the car Too and the cartoon
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: that was Actor Rest in Peace. He died last year,
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm gonna say it. I like Nipplegate, George Clooney, Batman.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: I like the nipples.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: Oh, I just thought that one was terrible.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I like it. It's got everything. It got Batman, it
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: got Robin, it got poison Ivy, it's got mister Freeze.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: It's got bad acting, got bad acting, Uma, Thurman's in it.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: They find bad girl. I'm like, this movie's got it all.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: It's got it all, including Georgia Clooney's nipples. And with that,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna ask you, Jules, how comfy are you with
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Return to Me?
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: I'm very comfortable with Return to Me. I think that
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: it needs to be getting more attention than what it
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: gets because it is a beautiful story. It's got heart,
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: it's got zero toxic anything. You still feel all the emotions,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: they're still tension.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: They don't use the gorilla to teach us like a
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: heart wrenching life lesson or the dog.
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's just it's just it's a wonderful romantic
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: comedy and I it doesn't get enough credit. M H.
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: I'm also still very comfy with reasing.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Zero cringe, literally zero cringe.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: There was one transphobic joke.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Oh I missed it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: When she's telling him that she had a surgery and
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: she's trying to tell him about her heart surgery. He
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: clutches her and goes, oh my god, I thought you
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: were gonna tell me that you were a man or something.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I was like, David Ducubny, we've made it so far.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: I missed that. Okay, well made, there's so far. There's
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: one cringe. Sorry, go ahead.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: But I love this movie. I'm with you. I think
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: that more people should be watching it. This movie feels
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: like it feels like your heart feels when you come
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: in from a snow day at school and there's already
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: hot cocoa on the stove. Yes, this movie makes me
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: want to hug all of my great uncles and they
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: have all passed away.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, Angela reminds me, like I said, a
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: lot of my my the next generation. Yeah, great uncle,
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: and even just kind of the way he dressed a
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: little bit was reminiscent of my grandpa.
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: The way that they talked. Also, my family does get
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: into bullshit arguments like that. When I was spending the
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: night at my aunt's before my sister's baby shower, we
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: were arguing over the correct way to shuffle cards and
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: we all had to demonstrate how to shuffle cards, and
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: then we were given notes and rankings.
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: I love that my grandfather. My mother told the story
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: one time, so it gave me insight into the kind
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: of man he was to other people, but not to me.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: My So, first of all, my grandfather used to love
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: playing card games and he managed to win enough money
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: to pay off his house. Like this, we're talking we're
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: talking in the sixties, right, so the house whatever. And
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: we were visiting one year and my sister was like five,
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: so I wasn't even alive yet, and he's trying to
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: like teach how to play a game, and like he doesn't.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: He's like pissed that she can't whatever, and like causes
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: her to cry. And my mother's like she's a child,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: and he's like, she needs to learn how to play
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: this game if she wants to play this game.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: And that's how PEG was, how dare you walk up
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: to the table not already knowing this game?
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: And it's like and it's so funny because that's not
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: how he was with me, But it's like that kind
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: of tone is sort of how we felt about when
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: children came in. We didn't give them like extra like,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: we didn't give them any grace. It was like you
- 1:06:33Speaker 2: need to learn how to figure out how to beat me,
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: and you can do that on your own kind of attitude.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: So then when we had some like new little children
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: in our family, after my son was like a teenager,
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: maybe it was like a junior or senior in high school,
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, it's okay, honey, like to
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: the kids saying it's okay, honey, like, and my son
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: was like, are you kidding me?
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: No, I'm a dick. During game, he was like.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: You never let anything slide. When I was that age,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: when my pay games, and I was like, I don't
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: know what's to happen, but I just don't know. Maybe
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: I'm in like grandma mode now or something I.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Don't know, isn't it. No, my grandma taught me how
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: to be a dick during a game. The so, as
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: you know, on my mom's side of the family, there's
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: like an older cluster of six grandkids, and then my
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: youngest uncle had kids later, right, so the younger of
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: that older cluster, she always got to cheat at games
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: and like baby talk during games and shit like that,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and us older kids we had like a family meeting
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: about it. We were like, we need all of the
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: uncles and aunts in here, and we're like, we don't
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: know who the fuck you think you are, but she's
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: ruining the fun for us because you've just taught us
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: how to be dicks during games and competitive and only
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: want to win on the circle when they're like red
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: flag or green flat or thumbs up, thumbs down? Would
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: you cheat at a game to win? Yes? How dare no?
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: One answer yes to that?
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: Was like honestly, because I was like no, I feel
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: like people would be like there was a Mother's day
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: my mom cheated at the card game we were playing,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: and she still lost, and her whole anger part anger
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: issue with that whole thing was like I even cheated
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: and I lost. You guys can let me win on
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Mother's Day?
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: No, because we're fucking dick's during games. And that's how
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: we learned in the nineties how to play games. Yeah,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: in the nineties, like your grandma's didn't want to fucking
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: play with you and teach you like candy Land and
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: not have a bee for stakes.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: Oh and we never played Candylan. There was no kids games.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: It was all you're learning how to play Rummy, Rummy,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: you're learning how to play poker, you're learning how to
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: play like blackjack. Like why Yeah, Like we only had
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: kids games if it was like literally church.
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Right, or if the kids had stuck away to play
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: a game. Yeah, you were allowed to play children games
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: in the sun room in front of the TV, or
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: in my uncle's room while he was at work, or
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: if you were sitting at the table and you thought
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: that you were fucking playing candy Land. Uh ah gin
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: rummy yeah yeah ah oh so yeah, this movie literally
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: like it it felt like a like a hug from
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: all of my favorite aunts and uncles.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Yeah, like perfect.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that this movie is why I romanticize
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: all of my aunts and uncles and feel like I
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: would have been a happier child growing up in their vicinity.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: And honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing like a twenty years
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: later film because then you know, Minnie Driver and David
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Ducovni could be reunited and they have a couple of kids,
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: and Bonnie Hunt's kids are grown, and you know, we
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: get another those generations of like community, love and harmony,
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: like this is what And you're like like you like,
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: I didn't realize because now my family bearing years are
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: probably over because I'm single and whatever. But I was like,
- 1:09:57Speaker 2: I feel like when I thought of having a family,
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: that's what it would be. Yeah, Like that was the
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: realization I had on Sunday, like, oh, if I was
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: gonna have a family, that's the way I wanted to
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: do it. And then I didn't.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: No, No, it's like kids just falling asleep underneath the
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: table and Jim Belushi taking them to bed, Yeah, which
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: was so sweet. It was so sweet. And then me like,
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: I want to fuck your mom get to bed. Yeah
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: that was sweet too. That was sweet. Bonnie Hunt and
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Jim Belushi were hot together. Yeah, they're They're really cute.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: They were hot.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: I wouldn't have minded seeing a spin off from this
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: film of Just Their Family now.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: And I understand that this movie would be ruined and
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: not as pure if it was PG thirteen instead of PG.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: But every once in a while I was like, this
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: movie could use more kissing.
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: I think the more kissing would have kept it at pig.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: This movie needs a gentle love scene between many Driver
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: and David's company until one or.
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Like the open, like when they're getting there, but then
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: it cuts to the next thing.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Yeah, how is it that something's got to give this
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: gross movie about Jack Nicholson gaslighting Helen Hunt into sleeping
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: with him one an oscar but no one knows what
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: returned to me is when I talk about.
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: It because Jack Nicholson I hate.
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: I don't hate Jack Nicholson, but I hate that he
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: won an oscar for gas lighting Helen Hunt.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: And he's a paternity denier, so.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Oh, Jack also didn't Is Jack Nicholson the one that
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: like threw an actor who used to be a kid actor?
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Is Jack Nicholson? The one that no that was Billy Crystal.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I think Billy Crystal like pushed a child actor who's
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: now a grown actor, and people are like, can we
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: stop pretending that Billy Crystal's a nice guy?
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: Oh? I feel like that's that story sounds very familiar
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: to me, but I can't. I don't know why where
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: I heard it, but yeah, all over Instagram. I remember that.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: But like with Jack Nicholson, when you look back at
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: some of his films, they're all misogynistic, and not even
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: just in the nineties, like the ones that he is
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: praised for right like but One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: The book itself, I know people praised it, but it
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: was like I hated it. I was so sad.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Catcher in the Rye, Oh stupid book.
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: Did I ever tell you about the time I was
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: on a date with a guy who's like, I really
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: relate to Holden Cawfield, and I was like, reading, are done?
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: You don't need to keep my number, thank you.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: I used to argue with teachers about Catcher in the Rye.
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: I was like, why is this a classic? They're like,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: what do you mean, why is it a classic? It's
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: the human condition? I go, it's just another little white
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: boy not taking responsibility for his actions. He might as
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: well be in a fraternity instead of the mental hospital.
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: He is just chaos. It's all chaos. And like with
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: the book once, I had to read it for my
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: film to book to film class in grad school, and
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: afterwards I was like, this is trash. I am angry
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: and goodbye.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: And goodbye, Jules Plug. What's happening this week?
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Okay, so Pals this week on pop culture makes me jealous.
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: We still do not have a new episode because I
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: started a second job because capitalism dictated it, and I
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: need to heat my house because it's cold as fuck,
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: and Pgenie takes all my money even though they blow
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: up cities. So we do not have a new episode
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: this week. With that said, if you join our Patreon,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: you do have a new episode this week. So there's that.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: In the very gushy show Parenthood.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Yes, next week, the episode about Parenthood is coming out.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: Last week we released two weeks ago, we released the
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: episode about Who's the Boss, and it's a very good
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: episode and I recommend everybody tune in. And then tomorrow night,
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: I am on Natalie's Instagram channel because we're doing still
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: Comfy doesday with Wondery Hill and I cried all day
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: today because of that.
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: All three.
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: No, I'm saving the other one for tomorrow.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: The third one out of the set. Yeah, that one
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: gets a little lighter. We'll talk about how they chose
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: to like help us heal through the trauma.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: But that is the world of pop culture. Makes me jealous.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Our book club has announced our reading book for March.
- 1:14:25Speaker 2: It is Daisy Jones and a sixth and if you
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: want to join our book club, hit me up on
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Instagram and everyone.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: This has been the smooth voice stylings of the Nambling Katona,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: host of To All the Men I've Tolerated Before. Last
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: week it was the last Thursday of the month, so
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: it was our Patreon teaser and it was about my
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: trip to visit Elizabeth Kyle, one of our most beloved guests.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: And this week we are talking about fuck me. I
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: just posted this episode. Hold on spreaker will tell me
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: and it's right here. Oh, it's about our relationship with food.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: There you go with Kiki Athanis and she would probably
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: would have related to this movie as well because she
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: has a giant Greek family. Oh, I love that, which
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: it's because it's not a big oh, but they're going
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: to do the third my big fat Greek wedding, Yes
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: say yes, And we love John Corbet and I might
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: watch and just like that season two because he's going
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: to be in it.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: I'm gonna continue to hate watch that show.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Yeah, uh huh. And tomorrow on our Instagram channel, we
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: will be doing One Tree Hill Season three, sixteen through eighteen.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: And if that doesn't ring a bell for you, I
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: will tell you that these are the three episodes that
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I think set the show on its course from here
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: on out.
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: Okay, I'm curious because honestly, they were really they were hard,
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: and I'm really trying not to say anything because I
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: want to save it all for tomorrow.
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: So they're the hard episodes. They are the three hard episodes.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: There's gonna be a lot of prevalent information about where
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: our country is with this issue. Where One Tree Hill
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: was in the timeline of this issue, Yeah, because there
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: was some outdated language like code red used and things
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: like that, so it kind of dated it. But I
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: think they're the best three episodes, or the best two
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: episodes of the entire series. Oh interesting, Yeah, and just
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: like that or sex in the City or love Gorillas.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Everybody that's been another episode of Still Comfy. We hope
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: that you stay cozy, stay comfy out there, and we'll
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: see you tomorrow night on the river court. But this
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: at
