- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, Tlray, there's this is Talldaman. I have tolerated before
- 0:24Speaker 1: with Navy Katona, your weekly weekly look at everyday misogyny.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Today's a great day. Today is a fantastic day. Thank
- 0:32Speaker 1: you the list, Thank you the list. Thank you Takara
- 0:35Speaker 1: and Maria. Because we have Nikki and Manny from the
- 0:39Speaker 1: bubble Back Stories podcasts, they're so fun. They're my favorite
- 0:44Speaker 1: Instagram follow of twenty twenty five.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And we did impair her to say that this is
- 0:50Speaker 2: not paid promotion.
- 0:51Speaker 1: No, you all know me can afford it. No, you
- 0:56Speaker 1: all know me. I'm a hype queen. When I tell you,
- 1:00Speaker 1: you get everything out of their Instagram follow. You get comedy,
- 1:04Speaker 1: you get hot outfits. There was a puppet for Christmas,
- 1:08Speaker 1: an unexpected puppet Christmas care. Yes, yes, and most important,
- 1:16Speaker 1: you get another touchstone of pop culture because they're here
- 1:20Speaker 1: today to talk to me about.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Sex in the City.
- 1:29Speaker 2: All right, that's all that we had afford for freeing.
- 1:31Speaker 2: That's all that's free for that.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Why don't you guys introduce your podcast and how uh
- 1:40Speaker 1: Manny got convinced to watch Sex in the City for
- 1:42Speaker 1: the first time.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Yeah, so this My name is Mannyoso co host for
- 1:48Speaker 2: Bubble Bass Stories and I'm a Nikki trends. So Bubba
- 1:52Speaker 2: bas Story started out as a fifteen minute podcast, very
- 1:56Speaker 2: straight to the point, no fluff, and it was supposed
- 1:59Speaker 2: to create these conversation topics that you would want to
- 2:03Speaker 2: talk to you coworkers or anybody else. So really it's
- 2:06Speaker 2: about taking the awkward silence out of conversation. And if
- 2:10Speaker 2: you notice from season one on the fifteen minute roll
- 2:14Speaker 2: got on a little lucycusey. Yeah. It actually started out
- 2:18Speaker 2: as like we would do three topics and we would
- 2:22Speaker 2: just bring up our opinion and then just move on
- 2:24Speaker 2: to the next one, and then it just became one
- 2:26Speaker 2: topic and then thirty minute episodes. Yeah, like sometimes the
- 2:30Speaker 2: content was just too good, like we had to keep
- 2:33Speaker 2: ripping on it. And then still here's what happened me
- 2:37Speaker 2: and well, I'm a TV file. Did the television file?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Is that what we decided is movie? Okay, So I'm
- 2:48Speaker 2: really into television and I love watching TV. I love
- 2:51Speaker 2: to seeing you so much, and so it does Manny here,
- 2:54Speaker 2: but I'm a little different when I watch TV.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I really like looking up what made that scene or
- 3:01Speaker 4: like who these people are and what they've been in
- 3:05Speaker 4: you know, I'm just into really production stuff, but just
- 3:08Speaker 4: like reading about it.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I don't work in production. Yeah, I work in production,
- 3:12Speaker 2: And it's mostly like I'm just watching it like damn,
- 3:16Speaker 2: I wonder what por Pier had to clean that up,
- 3:19Speaker 2: you know, things like that. But also I'm watching it
- 3:21Speaker 2: with an emotional like everything has an emotional stake to me.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I'm like, oh my god, this character that all this.
- 3:28Speaker 2: So we were having a conversation about sex and the City.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I'm really into Twitter. It like pumped up on my
- 3:34Speaker 2: line because the new series came out and everybody was
- 3:36Speaker 2: talking so weird shit about it, and so it turned
- 3:40Speaker 2: out Manny had never seen it, and I thought it
- 3:41Speaker 2: was odd because that meant that there was a bunch
- 3:44Speaker 2: of pop cultural jokes and references that he did not get.
- 3:49Speaker 4: They would like really go over my head. And especially
- 3:54Speaker 4: moving from Florida to New York, there was always this
- 3:58Speaker 4: this facade of New York to me, of like what
- 4:01Speaker 4: it's supposed to be, and then when you when you
- 4:04Speaker 4: actually move here and live here, there's like a huge
- 4:07Speaker 4: like like a cultural break and you're like, oh, this
- 4:10Speaker 4: is actually what New York is really like. And you know,
- 4:13Speaker 4: watching TV shows and movies. You always think this is
- 4:16Speaker 4: what is supposed to be and then you.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Find out what it's really like. And I always and
- 4:21Speaker 2: she always said, like, no, you have to watch Sex
- 4:23Speaker 2: in the City because it's the only thing that's actually
- 4:26Speaker 2: like what New York liked life is really like. Yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 2: he was watching a lot of single cam sitcoms, the Seinfelds,
- 4:33Speaker 2: the Friends, How I Make Your Mind, all the things
- 4:35Speaker 2: that were taking place in New York. And so I
- 4:39Speaker 2: had never met a man one who has watched Sex
- 4:43Speaker 2: in the City like at all on his own accord
- 4:46Speaker 2: or like girl for me to watch it. I never
- 4:49Speaker 2: And so I was like, what an interest singing experiment
- 4:52Speaker 2: I would like to see. You're thirty nine, so you're
- 4:57Speaker 2: middle aged. Okay, you ever lived in New York, You've
- 5:01Speaker 2: never really dated in New York, and you've been in relationships.
- 5:06Speaker 2: So let's see how this plays out. I want to
- 5:07Speaker 2: see if some of the tropes that they put in
- 5:09Speaker 2: there about men are true from a man's first bacid
- 5:13Speaker 2: also like, as a man, what are some things that
- 5:16Speaker 2: the women are doing that you're like, oh shit, that's
- 5:19Speaker 2: really fucked up because that happened to me. Kind of situation.
- 5:22Speaker 2: And so he was game for it. He was like,
- 5:25Speaker 2: but he was game for the first before the Yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 2: before we started watching, I did do a video of like, okay,
- 5:34Speaker 2: you've never seen sex in the city, what are your expectations? Whatever,
- 5:37Speaker 2: And then we did it after he watched the very
- 5:39Speaker 2: first episode, and I think it took a couple of
- 5:42Speaker 2: episodes for him to be like what the fuck is
- 5:45Speaker 2: she thinking? Or who the fuck does that? But he
- 5:48Speaker 2: I also, I'm rewatching it for the first time in years.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I didn't know that big came in episode one.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Episode fucking one. This guy I did.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Not know that. I was like, I was shocked, as widows,
- 6:03Speaker 2: this man has been a problem since day one for real. Yes,
- 6:08Speaker 2: Nanny was on board with him. He's like, my boy
- 6:10Speaker 2: be Actually, I think the first thing I asked her
- 6:14Speaker 2: was like, oh, like what's his real name? Though? And
- 6:16Speaker 2: she was like, I can't tell you. I was like, oh,
- 6:18Speaker 2: can we find out? She's like I can't tell you,
- 6:20Speaker 2: And I'm like, but like what is Like, what's his name?
- 6:23Speaker 4: And like I would just eventually, like three episodes in,
- 6:27Speaker 4: I'm like, so we're never going to find out this
- 6:29Speaker 4: guy's name?
- 6:30Speaker 1: Is it Aaron? What's his name Jean. It's John, the
- 6:34Speaker 1: most white and I was very.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Upset when I found that out.
- 6:38Speaker 4: By the way, let me say I agreed to to
- 6:42Speaker 4: not look up stuff.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Yes, because she.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Really wanted me to my genuine reaction, So I agreed
- 6:48Speaker 4: not to look up there. So what I thout his
- 6:49Speaker 4: name was John? I was like, his name is John?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Good god, Oh my god, Doppy. He's like, are you joking?
- 7:01Speaker 1: And so I started rewatching it a couple of weeks
- 7:04Speaker 1: ago to prepare for today. And I was also like,
- 7:08Speaker 1: this motherfucker a problem from the pilot.
- 7:15Speaker 3: Until the reboot.
- 7:19Speaker 1: And then I was also like, okay. From episode one
- 7:25Speaker 1: they set up that the theme of the show is
- 7:28Speaker 1: going to be basically women should be having sex like men.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, Yeah, no, it was it was interesting
- 7:40Speaker 2: to one watch the show, but keep that in mind,
- 7:45Speaker 2: do that leg because when the show first came out,
- 7:48Speaker 2: I was, what, maybe we were like maybe ninth and
- 7:52Speaker 2: maybe I don't Yeah we were, Yeah, so we weren't
- 7:56Speaker 2: even old enough to watch it. But knowing like movies
- 8:00Speaker 2: and shows were out back then and haven't seen shot
- 8:03Speaker 2: of that, I could I could see what the shot was.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I could definitely.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Understand, especially because when I watched it the first time through,
- 8:11Speaker 1: it was for syndication, so who knows how long it
- 8:13Speaker 1: took me to see the actual sex of the city.
- 8:17Speaker 4: It was one of HBO's first shows, right because the
- 8:21Speaker 4: first episode you see but and you're like, oh, so
- 8:24Speaker 4: we're gonna see this.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Every episode he did have a female shot. I was like, yeah,
- 8:30Speaker 2: the first dick shot, I'm like, oh, okay, And then
- 8:34Speaker 2: once you started see celebrities coming, I'm like, oh, so
- 8:37Speaker 2: we're gonna see Macacconnie's junk. Yeah. If that was a
- 8:42Speaker 2: fun game to play, it like, oh do you know
- 8:45Speaker 2: that is? They're like the superstar now, but this is
- 8:47Speaker 2: like they were Samantha's lover. Yeah. Yeah, I'd look at
- 8:51Speaker 2: them and be like, oh he dated her too. Oh.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Timothy Oliphi is just a club hype kid who's making
- 9:00Speaker 1: out with Harry every night.
- 9:02Speaker 3: Okay, I mean the.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Blair under I mean, let's give it up for the
- 9:05Speaker 2: men Blair underwear, like I'm supposed to believe morandaka bag
- 9:09Speaker 2: of Blair underwear. I was like, Okay, there's I see, but.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Good God, Matthew or not macad of Hey, Bradley Cooper,
- 9:19Speaker 1: yep A young Bradley Cooper.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Davies babies crazy, it's crazy. But also like
- 9:29Speaker 2: the ones that had expose their dicks, I'm sure it
- 9:32Speaker 2: was all right, I'm gonna do it. I'm sure something
- 9:35Speaker 2: that comes back constantly in their front groups, like remember
- 9:39Speaker 2: you show your.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Dick on HBO?
- 9:41Speaker 2: Yeah, what's your royalty checks for that? Like do you
- 9:45Speaker 2: get extra? Like I feel like that's definitely comes back.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I wonder because HBO was one of the first premium
- 9:53Speaker 1: cable channels, and now I'm in the business, I'm like,
- 9:56Speaker 1: what were the royalties like for HBO? Because they would
- 9:59Speaker 1: just rerun their entireline up.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I would like to imagine that during that time, people
- 10:07Speaker 2: were still moral and like they were still getting paid
- 10:13Speaker 2: good because you had to pay to have HBO, So
- 10:15Speaker 2: it wasn't like HBO was going out on a limb
- 10:18Speaker 2: for these shows. Like my mom would cancel HBO when
- 10:22Speaker 2: Sopranos was off season like that. She was like, what
- 10:25Speaker 2: am I gonna pay? Like yeah, and then when it canceled,
- 10:28Speaker 2: she was like, well, I just don't need HBO anymore.
- 10:31Speaker 2: So in that sense, I feel like there was revenue
- 10:33Speaker 2: there to pay these fucking people. Yeah, I don't know
- 10:36Speaker 2: about now. I don't know what's happening now, but I
- 10:39Speaker 2: know back then the money was good. I imagine it was.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Yeah, they had to then you'd hope. Okay, So this
- 10:50Speaker 1: whole idea of like women need to be having sets like.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Men like.
- 10:56Speaker 3: I cannot wrap my head around if that theme has
- 11:02Speaker 3: a place in twenty twenty five, in the year of
- 11:05Speaker 3: it's embarrassing to have a boyfriend?
- 11:09Speaker 2: How do you how do you mean? How do you
- 11:11Speaker 2: mean elaborate?
- 11:12Speaker 1: Well, did you read that article about that woman who's like,
- 11:16Speaker 1: it's embarrassing to have a boyfriend?
- 11:17Speaker 3: It's culture.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I did see a headline about that. I saw a headline. Yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 4: I saw that headline.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I didn't read it, but it did come up to
- 11:28Speaker 2: my reminders.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw a headline, and then I followed the
- 11:32Speaker 1: woman on TikTok and she re regurgitated her article to me.
- 11:37Speaker 1: But all I can think about is how in twenty
- 11:42Speaker 1: twenty five, the amount of effort that Harry put forth
- 11:47Speaker 1: to quote unquote believe in love while writing a sex column.
- 11:52Speaker 1: The column while also like dating throughout the streets.
- 11:59Speaker 3: Of New York. I'm like, I don't think that's dating anymore.
- 12:04Speaker 2: It's not. I have no envy at all for the
- 12:08Speaker 2: dating world. No, y'all got land mines out there.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Who I was listening and then I thought I was
- 12:15Speaker 1: like Sex and the City had to have still been
- 12:18Speaker 1: on when we at least first got match dot com.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Did they ever you have rewatched all of it? They
- 12:26Speaker 3: never touched online dating? I think think so. No, I
- 12:29Speaker 3: don't remember.
- 12:30Speaker 2: It was just talking about this too, trying to figure
- 12:32Speaker 2: out like when it here versus when it was canceled.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Because we were watching Friends and a part of me
- 12:37Speaker 2: was like, I wonder in what if you there's the
- 12:40Speaker 2: world and these characters were into There was an episode
- 12:43Speaker 2: where there was some kind of match service though. Yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 2: that was popular. Yeah, that was like I think when
- 12:50Speaker 2: Sex and the City came out, we were in a
- 12:52Speaker 2: transitional period of like services versus like online internet stuff. Yeah.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I think that's it was like leaning because she like
- 13:01Speaker 2: gets a computer dash she has to go online and
- 13:04Speaker 2: she's like freaking out. She's like what the fuck? I yeah,
- 13:07Speaker 2: because she's a weirdo about technology, So no, I can't
- 13:11Speaker 2: imagine her. No.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I also the idea that they truly believed, and I
- 13:19Speaker 1: think that we were also sold on the idea that
- 13:22Speaker 1: they thought that because the theme of the show was
- 13:25Speaker 1: a group of women meeting up to talk about all
- 13:28Speaker 1: of the ways that they were quote unquote like dating
- 13:30Speaker 1: like men and having sex like men, and like changing
- 13:33Speaker 1: the rules or whatever that we like we're told. We
- 13:36Speaker 1: were like, oh, they definitely have the upper hand. And
- 13:39Speaker 1: then you watch Carrie and all that big is the
- 13:43Speaker 1: original bread crummer? Have you have you heard of bread
- 13:47Speaker 1: car I mean, we're like a guy just gives you
- 13:50Speaker 1: like tiny little indicators you a lot.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I will say that Samantha was
- 13:55Speaker 2: ahead of her time. I think Samantha's character and like
- 14:00Speaker 2: how she played the field and then eventually reluctantly fell
- 14:03Speaker 2: in love is more accurate and aligns more what now, Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 2: because you even see what she the one of the
- 14:13Speaker 2: guys that she first fell in love with, I guess
- 14:15Speaker 2: that's the one who first broke her heart. You see
- 14:18Speaker 2: her go into this really vulnerable stay with him, even
- 14:21Speaker 2: though she's trying to like fight it and be tough
- 14:23Speaker 2: about it. And then she did like it's the same habit.
- 14:26Speaker 2: He's actually doing the same shit that he's doing before,
- 14:28Speaker 2: except now he has more money, ye know, I mean,
- 14:31Speaker 2: you're not wrong about that because even their her relationship,
- 14:36Speaker 2: like she makes money for the actor.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Like right now, like because she said her relationship and
- 14:44Speaker 4: she probably is more.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Aligned with the time. But yeah, yeah, Like when she
- 14:48Speaker 2: reluctantly fell in love with Jarred and he's like no,
- 14:51Speaker 2: but I like, fuck what you having? She's like, what
- 14:53Speaker 2: are you talking about? You're like, I can't be sexy
- 14:56Speaker 2: anymore because I'm on and he's like, nah, you it.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I feel like more stories like that now, Yeah, somebody
- 15:02Speaker 2: you know, you get pregnant, you stay with the person
- 15:05Speaker 2: to raise the child, and then you fall in love
- 15:07Speaker 2: you know. Yeah, not Miranda Mirandom though I had no Miranda.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Like Miranda is also the four I think like she's
- 15:17Speaker 2: the flip side of that in the sense of like
- 15:20Speaker 2: she she hates on Carrie because like Harry is like
- 15:24Speaker 2: a lover girl and like low key Miranda does want
- 15:27Speaker 2: to be a lover girl, but like she doesn't know
- 15:29Speaker 2: how to play the part of a love a girl.
- 15:31Speaker 2: She's just like, Herry, you stupid and I'm not speekid,
- 15:33Speaker 2: so I'm not doing that. Sue shit. You're like, I'm
- 15:35Speaker 2: not gonna show up to a guy's house in a
- 15:38Speaker 2: beret and French fries like, yeah, you know her candy
- 15:42Speaker 2: straper shit. But she can't. She's not she's not thick
- 15:47Speaker 2: skinned enough to play the game the way Samantha does,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and so she like falls into this weird defense of
- 15:56Speaker 2: like trying to maneuver it. And so the thing with
- 15:59Speaker 2: Steve is she's it's like, I know Steve's a good guy,
- 16:02Speaker 2: but it's not clippie, so we can't. And then she
- 16:04Speaker 2: finds out he has cancer and then she's like, wow,
- 16:07Speaker 2: I feel really valuly have one ball. I'm gonna I'm
- 16:09Speaker 2: gonna have sex with you. And then she becomes pregnant,
- 16:12Speaker 2: and the first immediate good is like, well maybe I
- 16:14Speaker 2: should keep it because he's like, let's do this, and
- 16:17Speaker 2: it's just like, but all the problems you fulcking had
- 16:21Speaker 2: are still fucking there on top of now he's in
- 16:26Speaker 2: remission with cancer, so like, now you've painted yourself in
- 16:30Speaker 2: a corner. Now you're an asshole. Like if you get
- 16:33Speaker 2: rid of the baby and you doumb them, but like
- 16:36Speaker 2: you are then with this man that you don't even
- 16:38Speaker 2: really because in the movie they break up because she's
- 16:41Speaker 2: like this, I can't do this anymore. It's just like, girl,
- 16:46Speaker 2: you shouldn't have happy been save sex. Rewatching this show
- 16:51Speaker 2: just reminded me how fucking great save sexy. I don't
- 16:56Speaker 2: care what anybody says. They make condoms so great you
- 17:00Speaker 2: can't even like seal them. And it's just like, why
- 17:03Speaker 2: aren't these bitches using conducts?
- 17:06Speaker 1: No, I think Samantha is probably the one who's having
- 17:09Speaker 1: the sex safest sex and like insists on it.
- 17:13Speaker 2: And it's because.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I think that Samantha definitely has the most like self
- 17:21Speaker 1: worth out of all of them. And then Miranda is
- 17:26Speaker 1: mirroring samantha self worth and goes, well, I have that too,
- 17:31Speaker 1: and it's like, im Miranda, Yeah. And Miranda's so hard
- 17:39Speaker 1: on Carrie compared to Samantha, because I think Samantha is
- 17:42Speaker 1: one of those friends who's just like, I don't know,
- 17:44Speaker 1: letter like I don't know, like letter trail after big,
- 17:49Speaker 1: like let her pretend that this aiding guy is gonna
- 17:52Speaker 1: whisk her a way into the woods and that's gonna
- 17:54Speaker 1: be whatever, Like do it for the plot, do it
- 17:56Speaker 1: for the bit. Whereas Miranda is me where I'm kind
- 18:00Speaker 1: instantly mad at you know, I'm like, why are you
- 18:02Speaker 1: going in the woods?
- 18:02Speaker 3: With this man. We don't like ticks. We're afraid of tecks.
- 18:06Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 18:07Speaker 2: I used to have this motto, bad decisions made great stories,
- 18:13Speaker 2: and that is how I can explain most of my
- 18:16Speaker 2: early twenties dating life. It was just like, yeah, but
- 18:19Speaker 2: you know, fuck it will make a good like, fuck it,
- 18:21Speaker 2: we'll see what happens. I'll make a good story. But
- 18:24Speaker 2: I don't know as an almost forty year old if
- 18:26Speaker 2: I will say that.
- 18:28Speaker 4: Now you think, Uh, Samantha it more that way because
- 18:33Speaker 4: she probably didn't have anybody looking out for her decision.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Ooh, that's a great question, because who does look after
- 18:41Speaker 1: Samantha when Samantha's found bad? It's not Harry.
- 18:45Speaker 3: She sucks the way?
- 18:47Speaker 2: Didn't They say that they met like at a bar? Right?
- 18:50Speaker 2: So I did read Harry Diaries. Yeah, I read the book.
- 18:56Speaker 2: And so what happens was is that Carrie is like
- 18:58Speaker 2: eighteen when she meets in New York and Samantha is
- 19:01Speaker 2: a cousin of some girls she like went to sweat.
- 19:04Speaker 2: But Samantha was like a loner growing up. No, she
- 19:07Speaker 2: was the party. No, she was a party that like
- 19:09Speaker 2: she's always.
- 19:10Speaker 4: Been in theatr Like she's but what I'm saying is
- 19:12Speaker 4: like she probably didn't have somebody like Miranda walking out
- 19:16Speaker 4: for her while she was in.
- 19:18Speaker 2: New York doing her thing. Yeah, yeah, we don't attitude
- 19:22Speaker 2: of being like, let her do a thing, let her
- 19:23Speaker 2: do like that probably comes from being like nobody wasn't
- 19:27Speaker 2: look great, don't worry about her. Well, that also comes
- 19:30Speaker 2: from it. Also, that also comes from not knowing that
- 19:37Speaker 2: people are judging you and you don't want people to
- 19:40Speaker 2: do it. So like she's kind of giving her the
- 19:42Speaker 2: grades that she wants people to get hurt, like she
- 19:44Speaker 2: don't know she's and I.
- 19:45Speaker 4: Think was really an only child or is she like
- 19:48Speaker 4: the oldest kid how to take care of everybody?
- 19:51Speaker 2: Oh, they don't really talk like family, like because there's
- 19:55Speaker 2: gotta be a reason. Or it's like you know what
- 19:58Speaker 2: you think about psychology? Well men, men's men. Yeah, soiler
- 20:06Speaker 2: Harry Harry longs to go to New York. She comes
- 20:08Speaker 2: from a single, single, single family home where it's just
- 20:12Speaker 2: her dad. And like the way they explain her that
- 20:14Speaker 2: she doesn't want her relationship her dad feeds into that
- 20:18Speaker 2: whole trope with mister big and and then they don't
- 20:20Speaker 2: really go through the other but like Samantha was always
- 20:24Speaker 2: a party girl. She was a cousin of some girl
- 20:25Speaker 2: that she went to school with, and like the whole
- 20:27Speaker 2: idea of Samantha's like you can't hold like she's not
- 20:30Speaker 2: a box and you cannot put her down, and like
- 20:32Speaker 2: smaller isn't hers. She's like big brand. She knows everything.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Miranda has always been like almost like a book nerd.
- 20:37Speaker 2: She's like always been serious, like even in the book
- 20:40Speaker 2: when she's young and serious, which is why she's awarded.
- 20:43Speaker 2: And then I forget how she meets Charlotte in the book,
- 20:46Speaker 2: but at some point she doesn't need sherman, which let's
- 20:49Speaker 2: talk about.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Charlotte your friend, like you're constantly worried about folks conservative, right, No,
- 20:59Speaker 1: I need you to know that in the spin off,
- 21:01Speaker 1: she's not doing all right and she's borderline. Like every
- 21:04Speaker 1: episode I would watch and just like that, I would
- 21:06Speaker 1: text my friend Annie and I'd be like, do you
- 21:08Speaker 1: think Charlotte has dementia? And they're just not telling us
- 21:12Speaker 1: why because she would do off the wall say any things.
- 21:20Speaker 3: And then just like you know who Charlotte is.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Charlotte is a mother who has given over to like
- 21:26Speaker 1: recreationally using her children's medication because the things that she
- 21:30Speaker 1: would say, You're.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Like, Charlotte, are you good?
- 21:36Speaker 2: Can I tell you something? I this is Canton Gott.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I have a friend who we used to you know,
- 21:43Speaker 2: when you're doing like the oh I'm the short, we
- 21:46Speaker 2: always used to say, this is your Charlotte, like that
- 21:48Speaker 2: is whatever, Like we always make fun of her, like
- 21:51Speaker 2: you're gonna be the Real Housewives with the bronx, like
- 21:54Speaker 2: that is she knowing also that she's so much more
- 21:57Speaker 2: than that, but like that that's how you grew up.
- 22:00Speaker 2: And I was like what her endgame was now seeing
- 22:05Speaker 2: her as a mother of multiple kids, she two says
- 22:08Speaker 2: ship and I'm like, it's almost like you're not regressing.
- 22:13Speaker 2: It's it's but it's almost like once you have kids,
- 22:16Speaker 2: you have been through like battle feels like they proved
- 22:19Speaker 2: this life that you think is perfect is not. Like
- 22:21Speaker 2: a kid will fucking humble you. And I think what
- 22:23Speaker 2: happens is is you let go of all that up
- 22:26Speaker 2: tightness that you have and you just joined the chaos
- 22:29Speaker 2: because like other than that, you'll you'll go fucking crazy,
- 22:32Speaker 2: but you have to be like head of the chaos.
- 22:35Speaker 2: And that's what Charlotte is she's head of the chaos,
- 22:38Speaker 2: like they're still chaos, but she's still managing it in
- 22:42Speaker 2: the show. But my girl in Sex and the City,
- 22:46Speaker 2: I saw her vision. I saw her vision, and I
- 22:49Speaker 2: get why she wanted it. Now when she got with Captain, what.
- 22:55Speaker 3: The yes.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Isn't t Yeah?
- 23:03Speaker 3: And it's a guy from Twin Peaks, I know his.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Trent doesn't sound right. We're gonna call him Trent.
- 23:09Speaker 3: I don't think it's the first husband though, the first
- 23:13Speaker 3: time you think his name is Trent on my list
- 23:16Speaker 3: of men. I did just put Charlotte's first husband.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Like you don't even get a name. We've been calling
- 23:22Speaker 2: him the Captain. We've just been calling him the Captain.
- 23:29Speaker 2: It's not it starts with a T. I feel like
- 23:33Speaker 2: I'm not Trey.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You were right there, played by Cutie Putty Kyle nick Laughlin.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Also known as the Captain the Captain. I get why
- 23:44Speaker 2: she wanted that. Like, when you're fucking on the dating streets,
- 23:47Speaker 2: you're like, fuck this life, fuck this. I don't deserve this.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I deserve to be happy, especially when you're in an
- 23:54Speaker 2: age where everybody's getting married and you're just like, what
- 23:58Speaker 2: the fuck I think she got married too fast because
- 24:03Speaker 2: always meet the mother in what before? Okay, just meet
- 24:08Speaker 2: the mother in law before and then make your decision.
- 24:11Speaker 2: That's whine. But when our boy Harry came on the seat,
- 24:14Speaker 2: and she was just like ill, ill to everything that
- 24:18Speaker 2: is happening. Right, he sweats, he's like a pig. But
- 24:21Speaker 2: when my man got on that stand in courtroom or
- 24:25Speaker 2: I don't know where the fuck to tell the mother
- 24:27Speaker 2: in law or I felt that and then you know what,
- 24:31Speaker 2: it made me realize that we as women need to
- 24:35Speaker 2: give the nerd the alca all. We need to give
- 24:39Speaker 2: him a chance. Okay, we need to. And I think
- 24:42Speaker 2: her being with Harry also loosened her up because Trey
- 24:46Speaker 2: was a tight Why Harry's just like I love my
- 24:49Speaker 2: mom's she's dead, but like, you gotta be Jewish and
- 24:53Speaker 2: she did. Do you know how hard it is to
- 24:56Speaker 2: convert to Judaism. That's very very tough, ye, not like
- 25:00Speaker 2: just getting baptized and saying you're Christian. And my girl
- 25:03Speaker 2: was like, bet, I'm going to be Jewish, sid like
- 25:05Speaker 2: we celebrate Hanakah and say all of that. And she
- 25:08Speaker 2: did not stop, and she was just like I want
- 25:11Speaker 2: you and I want you to see the work I'm
- 25:13Speaker 2: going to put into this, because I think they were
- 25:14Speaker 2: broken up when she had decided to do it, right, yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 2: because she kept doing it, yeah, and she just and
- 25:20Speaker 2: like that to me is something that I think Harry
- 25:24Speaker 2: is jealous of, because I don't think that Carrie is
- 25:27Speaker 2: really willing to put in that kind of work. Didn't
- 25:31Speaker 2: carry try to tell.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Her to stop, to like stop doing the conversing thing,
- 25:35Speaker 4: I don't know, and then she was like that because
- 25:37Speaker 4: I feel like there's a.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Scene like somebody who's telling her to stop doing it,
- 25:41Speaker 2: was like, I'm going to keep doing it, Like there's
- 25:43Speaker 2: like a whole point. I'm sure I want them like
- 25:47Speaker 2: you know, Miranda going I don't know, I know, not
- 25:52Speaker 2: something like that. Like they weren't even together. So it's
- 25:55Speaker 2: like Charlotte didn't have there was no stake in it, right,
- 25:58Speaker 2: Like at that point, she was just doing it because
- 26:00Speaker 2: of the dating pool. I feel like and like, you know,
- 26:04Speaker 2: the community, but I just don't think that that Carrie
- 26:10Speaker 2: has to have steaks in it. And I just don't
- 26:13Speaker 2: She's not religious to begin with, so I imagine that
- 26:15Speaker 2: if she's met somebody who's like, she's like not me.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I'm not gonna do that. And I feel like she
- 26:19Speaker 2: couldn't even stop smoking. He took the words out of
- 26:22Speaker 2: my mouth like she was like, you won't mean know what. Okay,
- 26:26Speaker 2: we're gonna try this out. Yeah, and that's bash Carrie
- 26:33Speaker 2: because we're all like, here's Carrie and all of us, right,
- 26:37Speaker 2: But it's just like it's okay if you're not willing
- 26:40Speaker 2: to do that kind of hard work. No, I guess
- 26:43Speaker 2: doing that kind of hard work to really show like
- 26:45Speaker 2: I'm in this as opposed to like the Droppins I got,
- 26:50Speaker 2: or like whatever the fuck she was doing with Big
- 26:52Speaker 2: It was just headgates with Charlotte and Harry was a
- 26:55Speaker 2: head gates. It was like I made a promise to
- 26:57Speaker 2: my dead mother, Like you don't have to with a mother.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's my dead mother that whoever I married will be Jewish.
- 27:04Speaker 2: And he doesn't live a very is it secular right?
- 27:09Speaker 2: It is a religious life? I don't know. Yeah, Like
- 27:12Speaker 2: he's not like super into Judaism, but he made this
- 27:16Speaker 2: promise to his mom and he's like, this is my
- 27:19Speaker 2: boundary and she's like, fuck, I'm gonna meet you where
- 27:22Speaker 2: you're at. And it's just like carry wanted to be
- 27:24Speaker 2: swept over people from beginning to add and Charlotte's like,
- 27:29Speaker 2: I know that I can get that, but I'm gonna
- 27:31Speaker 2: put in this work too.
- 27:33Speaker 1: And I think that Charlotte is the stand in for
- 27:37Speaker 1: us the audience because compared to sex on the study,
- 27:40Speaker 1: the majority of America is pretty conservative about sex relationships
- 27:45Speaker 1: and daity. So for her to be actively twenty in
- 27:49Speaker 1: New York and still being like I kiss on the
- 27:51Speaker 1: third day and I fucked on the fifth day, and
- 27:55Speaker 1: like having very like Indiana coded ideals about while also
- 28:01Speaker 1: going like carry can't afford shoes you, I will be
- 28:06Speaker 1: marrying rich.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I will afford shoes.
- 28:10Speaker 2: I mean, Kerr could afford them. It was just like
- 28:14Speaker 2: the necessities that she could afford there, like hoousing and
- 28:19Speaker 2: you know, food. I don't know how this bitch eid
- 28:21Speaker 2: to be honest because you are that's restaurants. Her cigarettes,
- 28:25Speaker 2: I mean cigars were like three dollars to maybe not
- 28:28Speaker 2: but like, you know, yeah, she's terrible. He had to
- 28:32Speaker 2: marry rich like Aiden was not gonna be vile. Yeah, no,
- 28:36Speaker 2: Aiden wasn't gonna be I just look. No.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Also, the biggest question about Aiden I have is where
- 28:44Speaker 1: was Aiden on January sixth, because I feel like I
- 28:47Speaker 1: know and I can like visualize this out there.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Do you, okay, we do we think that Aiden was
- 28:54Speaker 2: more of a Trump supporter than Big.
- 28:56Speaker 1: No, I'm sure that Big was also a Trump supporter,
- 28:59Speaker 1: but I'm sure that Big is one of those guys who's, like,
- 29:01Speaker 1: I'm very liberal when it comes to like my culture.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Ciscal Republican was definitely a close right and right.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And then Aiden is the type of guy who's gonna
- 29:16Speaker 1: have to punch walls for days and scream at carry
- 29:21Speaker 1: if one of their kids ends up gay. Like I
- 29:25Speaker 1: know you all haven't dipped into and just like that yet,
- 29:29Speaker 1: but it's so eye opening. Number one, here's a spoiler.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Aiden doesn't believe in medicating your children for like depression
- 29:39Speaker 1: or ADHD or anxiety or anything.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I don't want to see that. Yeah, his son is
- 29:46Speaker 2: like packing out, and so that his ex wife is
- 29:49Speaker 2: up Carrie and like, can you get my son these drugs?
- 29:53Speaker 2: And so like. Then yeah, so that Carrie goes to
- 29:56Speaker 2: Charlotte and likes, and Charlotte's like, I know, the moms
- 30:01Speaker 2: don't worry about it. So she goes with some random
- 30:03Speaker 2: mom and she's like hey, you got this, and he's
- 30:05Speaker 2: like yeah, I bet and these are like a couple
- 30:07Speaker 2: of pills and then Curry has to take across the
- 30:09Speaker 2: state line. Yeah it was it like it was something
- 30:14Speaker 2: like that stuff.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like riddling, yeah, yeah, or some well.
- 30:21Speaker 2: We're not doctors, guys, but it's like riding like that's crazy.
- 30:27Speaker 2: She shouldn't have done that, and I don't, so that
- 30:31Speaker 2: means I gonna drug up your kids. So he's like,
- 30:33Speaker 2: chill the fuck out, and it's a lot of parapreezing. Meanwhile,
- 30:37Speaker 2: like Aiden's like my son does not eat therapy. What
- 30:41Speaker 2: my fifteen year old son needs is a gun in
- 30:43Speaker 2: the woods and co betting with me, Like we're back
- 30:47Speaker 2: to the family bad. So I'm actually getting a little
- 30:51Speaker 2: eye opening right here because I'm over here, like wait
- 30:53Speaker 2: a second, motherfucker, Ad is back in the picture. And
- 30:56Speaker 2: the next year in the series made you choose to
- 30:59Speaker 2: watch yet I need you to watch it. Let me
- 31:02Speaker 2: tell you we last week we saw the second movie
- 31:07Speaker 2: and I was just like, well, like I get the disappointment.
- 31:13Speaker 4: As far as like what was the plot that people
- 31:15Speaker 4: were there, but like the part, the whole part of
- 31:17Speaker 4: like Aiden and her and her cheating on Big with Aiden.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I was like, I paused a couple of times. I
- 31:23Speaker 2: was looking at I was like, hold on a second,
- 31:26Speaker 2: because I'm like, you both are doing bad things here. Well,
- 31:30Speaker 2: her reason was because he wanted to be a regular
- 31:35Speaker 2: fucking old man. Yeah, she was like, I get that,
- 31:38Speaker 2: I didn't sign up for this, but this is what
- 31:40Speaker 2: I'm This goes back to like she wants to Yeah,
- 31:45Speaker 2: my dude just wanted to watch the next game afterl
- 31:47Speaker 2: we not work for twelve and she's like, no, we
- 31:49Speaker 2: got her out into the galla. He's like another one.
- 31:52Speaker 4: But when she calls up and tells, she's like, I
- 31:54Speaker 4: forget the excuse, but she says something a long life,
- 31:56Speaker 4: like oh, and it just it was an accident.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I'm like, accident, You're you went to his hotel. What
- 32:04Speaker 2: bing many gotta do is not take the bullshit. I'm
- 32:09Speaker 2: let me tell you about my friend Carry.
- 32:11Speaker 4: She drove across the desert to this guy's hotel and
- 32:15Speaker 4: accidentally kissed him.
- 32:18Speaker 1: At no point would I ever shape my life around Carry,
- 32:23Speaker 1: And I do think not only is she obsessed with
- 32:28Speaker 1: being swept off of her feet and the only priority
- 32:31Speaker 1: in the relationship and this and the other, but like also,
- 32:36Speaker 1: she'll just keep chasing it. When Big is like, do
- 32:39Speaker 1: I have to meet your friends? And she's like yeah,
- 32:42Speaker 1: we're getting serious, and he's like okay, and then he's
- 32:46Speaker 1: very clearly trying to stand her up for that first
- 32:50Speaker 1: meat and great Emrianda's like I knew he was, like
- 32:52Speaker 1: that made and then Charlote is so excited because he
- 32:56Speaker 1: does show up and I was like, Harry, it's a
- 32:58Speaker 1: game he went to see if you were gonna call
- 33:01Speaker 1: him on his ship in front of all of your
- 33:03Speaker 1: friends and you would not, Well, I actually.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Think that's smart because I'm not gonna get I'm gonna
- 33:09Speaker 2: show you my crazy private so that you know, don't
- 33:13Speaker 2: ever fucking do that again, because if you go off
- 33:16Speaker 2: in front of the president, it's like you have an
- 33:17Speaker 2: audience and we know how she's gonna be in private.
- 33:20Speaker 2: It's not gonna hold any week. But like in that
- 33:23Speaker 2: cortinuous situation, you gotta pull a guy asside.
- 33:28Speaker 3: You have to go if you ever fucking pull some
- 33:33Speaker 3: ship like that again.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Miserable okay byes, Okay, yeah, okay, oh my god, so
- 33:40Speaker 2: have you came. Let's have a great night. And then
- 33:42Speaker 2: they're like, what the fuck I.
- 33:45Speaker 1: However, she never does look like I'm gonna kill you
- 33:49Speaker 1: eyes and once she's still like see he showed up
- 33:52Speaker 1: and this is fine.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's yea. It is kinder crazy. Also, I
- 33:58Speaker 2: think I always say and Samantha was ahead of her time.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I think they gave her too much ship, and I
- 34:04Speaker 2: don't think they were very supportive. They were not very
- 34:06Speaker 2: girls girls about like about her. Yeah, they were also judgy,
- 34:12Speaker 2: like when she had a threes or I think she
- 34:14Speaker 2: dated a woman like she did hit a woman. And
- 34:18Speaker 2: it's just like why at this point, right, y'all been
- 34:22Speaker 2: fussing so fucking long? Why you be questioned? Why are
- 34:25Speaker 2: you questioning? The girls never called you crying like oh
- 34:29Speaker 2: my gosh, like so and he just broke up. If anything,
- 34:32Speaker 2: she's like, oh no, no, fuck this guy up and
- 34:34Speaker 2: I need to know what am I. They sure don't
- 34:36Speaker 2: complain when she gets them to be a people. Okay,
- 34:39Speaker 2: s the fuck? Don't you get sex with whoever you
- 34:44Speaker 2: was coming. I do think that she is outlanders, Like
- 34:48Speaker 2: the second movie is like girls, you girl, girl, you
- 34:52Speaker 2: just got kicked out of unrealistic. Yeah, like some of
- 34:58Speaker 2: it somebody did there's people who do that, but no,
- 35:01Speaker 2: they were literally just like what are why would you
- 35:07Speaker 2: even throw that out there?
- 35:08Speaker 3: And then that's something movie is crazy.
- 35:11Speaker 2: But in the first one, it's just like she fucking
- 35:15Speaker 2: like she fucking wrote, let me tell you something. Having
- 35:18Speaker 2: a group of friends like that is actually because regardless
- 35:22Speaker 2: of how we feel about them, because they're all kind
- 35:24Speaker 2: of right ship, all of them collected as like that.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Because when he didn't fucking show up, Samantha was on
- 35:30Speaker 2: the fall. She was getting hit chy. She's booking the flight,
- 35:34Speaker 2: you know. Miranda was like, let's fucking get a lawyer.
- 35:38Speaker 2: See what's yours. We're gonna get your apartment bed. Charlotte
- 35:41Speaker 2: was offering sympathy but also like I really don't know
- 35:45Speaker 2: what she it was more comforting, like she was like
- 35:47Speaker 2: comforting her, and it was like, Buck, some bitch is
- 35:50Speaker 2: right for each other, like even though they even though
- 35:52Speaker 2: they're kind of shitty to each other too, Like I
- 35:55Speaker 2: wish I had a lawyer, a fucking pr by pocket off,
- 35:59Speaker 2: Like what that life would be grand?
- 36:03Speaker 3: Yeah, hit big.
- 36:06Speaker 1: When he did show up for the wedding, like he
- 36:09Speaker 1: stands her up at the aisle and then he's like
- 36:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna show up anyways and tell her maybe we
- 36:14Speaker 1: shouldn't be married people, but who we definitely should be
- 36:17Speaker 1: people to one another. And Charlotte hits him and says, like,
- 36:21Speaker 1: I told my girl that she was gonna be good
- 36:23Speaker 1: with you, and you made me a liar?
- 36:26Speaker 2: What did do you think about that? That whole wedding? See, well,
- 36:29Speaker 2: I mean, obviously it was I thought that youture was unrealistic.
- 36:34Speaker 2: To be honest, I was like, yeah, that turned me out.
- 36:37Speaker 2: I was like, this would have made more sense on
- 36:39Speaker 2: the sidewalk, but.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Not a Utah.
- 36:44Speaker 2: The Charlotte's face definitely you see it like you ever
- 36:49Speaker 2: have that friend who is like you've never seen them mad? Yeah,
- 36:53Speaker 2: but the second you do, you tell you want to
- 36:56Speaker 2: tell me like, well watch out, watch out. That that's
- 36:59Speaker 2: the kind of look she had on her friends.
- 37:01Speaker 4: It does remind me like a lot of what you
- 37:03Speaker 4: just said though, that like you know, she having this
- 37:07Speaker 4: group of friends you have like somebody who can do something,
- 37:10Speaker 4: but like she's a supportive you know. Yeah, she's that
- 37:13Speaker 4: person who is willing to go up to the person
- 37:15Speaker 4: that just kissed you off. Yeah, you know, like to
- 37:18Speaker 4: have a friend like that who is willing to put
- 37:21Speaker 4: themselves out there like that. Emotionally, yeah, yeah, I feel
- 37:24Speaker 4: like that really solid part.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Welcome.
- 37:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I think too, Like in the grand scheme of things,
- 37:32Speaker 1: it's always Miranda going, is anyone gonna fix this? And
- 37:37Speaker 1: then Samantha going this is very fixable and not a
- 37:40Speaker 1: big deal, and then Charlotte going, no, I've already fixed that.
- 37:45Speaker 2: I got recover her energy, Like that's why when that
- 37:49Speaker 2: tree she went down and obviously stopped playing with my girl, Like,
- 37:54Speaker 2: stop playing with my girl. When Miranda got pregnant, said
- 37:57Speaker 2: to her, I was just like, also release the shackles
- 38:02Speaker 2: that Miranda has on her, Like she does not want
- 38:05Speaker 2: to be with Steve. She doesn't want to be with Steve.
- 38:07Speaker 2: She does not want to be with him. The first
- 38:09Speaker 2: time I saw that show, I was like, fuck Miranda, Okay, Steve,
- 38:14Speaker 2: he is a fucking saint. Okay who she thinks she is.
- 38:18Speaker 2: When we first started rewatching it, Manny's like fuck this guy,
- 38:23Speaker 2: he was like, and he was like, lastomous, don't ever
- 38:27Speaker 2: say that to six in the city. Can like are
- 38:29Speaker 2: you walking out of your mind? Goes fuck this guy's sheeve,
- 38:32Speaker 2: fuck this guy ate it. When he like first intro
- 38:35Speaker 2: to He's like, fuck it. I was like, I'm learning
- 38:38Speaker 2: so much, but tell me why fuck him? No? Actually, well,
- 38:42Speaker 2: it's funny about aiden was that when he first showed up.
- 38:45Speaker 4: I don't think I had much of an opinion about it,
- 38:48Speaker 4: except that, like, Okay, the guy's obviously just trying to
- 38:51Speaker 4: be like he's trying to.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Make you a little, not make you better, but like,
- 38:55Speaker 2: you know, maybe adulthood. Adulthood influenced you, you know, carry
- 39:00Speaker 2: give them a break, give them. But that scene with
- 39:05Speaker 2: a cigarette, bro, that threw me off the edge.
- 39:08Speaker 4: I paused it and I was like, hold on a second,
- 39:11Speaker 4: hold on, my guy, you just walked into the situation.
- 39:16Speaker 2: You don't know why she's smoking that cigarette, you don't
- 39:19Speaker 2: know why she needs it right now, and don't you
- 39:22Speaker 2: fucking dare tell somebody mid cigarette to put it out.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I didn't like them from that point forward.
- 39:30Speaker 1: My stance is, if you're morally against cigarettes, okay, then
- 39:35Speaker 1: don't then take smokers out of it. Like I'm not
- 39:39Speaker 1: dating single dads because I don't want kids, So why
- 39:42Speaker 1: are you dating a smoker if you don't like smoke?
- 39:45Speaker 2: Like I'm not a smoker. I don't smoke. I smoke weed.
- 39:48Speaker 2: I don't smoke cigarettes. I don't like the smell of
- 39:49Speaker 2: cigarette to you. I don't. I'm not a fan of it. However,
- 39:53Speaker 2: I'm socially aware enough to know that if somebody just
- 39:57Speaker 2: lit a cigarette, nothing fucking finish it.
- 40:00Speaker 3: And your cigarette that dollars?
- 40:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, like the side eyes she gave him in
- 40:08Speaker 5: that second, I was like, oh no, Bro, go Beck
- 40:11Speaker 5: his side, go Beck, his side.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Baby was so critical, hold on, hold on that, you're
- 40:18Speaker 2: not talking to my girl carry like that. We could
- 40:21Speaker 2: talk about Carrie like that, but you can't talk about
- 40:24Speaker 2: you walked in, Bro, Why why are you take that?
- 40:28Speaker 1: Aden and Big have such I'm gonna get this my
- 40:32Speaker 1: way because I wanted my way like privileged behind them
- 40:36Speaker 1: and be and it manifests in very different ways. Like
- 40:39Speaker 1: Big was like Samantha and Miranda were right when they
- 40:43Speaker 1: were like carry, everything's always on Biggs turns.
- 40:45Speaker 3: And she's like, what are you talking about?
- 40:48Speaker 1: And they're like, you literally walked into a restaurant that
- 40:50Speaker 1: he was in and he would not say hello to you,
- 40:53Speaker 1: like because he didn't agree to see you that day
- 40:59Speaker 1: and then, but everything was also on Aiden's terms because
- 41:02Speaker 1: Aiden was like, I get that you're sex collamlesness and
- 41:06Speaker 1: you think that like that's cute, Like your New York
- 41:09Speaker 1: lifestyle is so cute. However, have you ever been to
- 41:12Speaker 1: the woods? Have you ever made sour though? Have you
- 41:16Speaker 1: ever like, have you ever thought about two kids in
- 41:19Speaker 1: a minivan situation? And she'd be like, I don't know,
- 41:22Speaker 1: I guess I really haven't thought about it. And Aiden's like,
- 41:25Speaker 1: and I think it's what you've been waiting for all along,
- 41:28Speaker 1: and he would keep.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Planting those ideas in her head.
- 41:34Speaker 1: And then he's he is so nice like on the outside,
- 41:39Speaker 1: like he's that typical like schmoozes all of your friends,
- 41:42Speaker 1: good natured guy. Oh, I'm so funny, Steve and I
- 41:44Speaker 1: have so many laughs.
- 41:46Speaker 2: He's a car You can't be mad at a carpenter when.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Jesus not Jesus that then you do have to cheat,
- 41:55Speaker 1: well hot take, then you do have to cheat on
- 41:58Speaker 1: guys like that because you cannot escape them.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I don't think that's true. And here's why I'm gonna
- 42:05Speaker 2: tell you why, Carrie, was it strong enough to play
- 42:09Speaker 2: the head games?
- 42:10Speaker 3: Correct?
- 42:10Speaker 2: That's that's the that is the fucking problem right there,
- 42:13Speaker 2: which I think is such a disservice in her character,
- 42:15Speaker 2: because yeah, there's such a thing as like I want
- 42:18Speaker 2: to be with someone who's not gonna play games. Okay,
- 42:20Speaker 2: so you get what I need and right, because he's like,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I'm this is what I want. There's no head games
- 42:26Speaker 2: about it. This is what I want. He's very direct
- 42:28Speaker 2: about it. That's it. We're big, she she was, She's
- 42:32Speaker 2: never learned how to play true, that's all it is.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Because if I go into a restaurant and you ignore me,
- 42:38Speaker 2: I'm gonna ignore you too. We just too motherfuckers ignoring
- 42:41Speaker 2: each other. I've never met you in my life. Like
- 42:43Speaker 2: we we're gonna I'm gonna match what a rateorgy and.
- 42:46Speaker 1: I'm gonna call you the wrong name the next time
- 42:48Speaker 1: you say hello to me, I'm gonna hurt your feelings.
- 42:52Speaker 2: In a few way.
- 42:53Speaker 4: But like does play head games though, because he's the
- 42:56Speaker 4: type of guy, like he puts up this whole like
- 42:59Speaker 4: this look obviously he cares what people think, because that's
- 43:02Speaker 4: why he was telling Carrie how he feels about her lifestyle,
- 43:06Speaker 4: because it will make him look that right, So he
- 43:08Speaker 4: puts up He's the type of guy that puts up
- 43:10Speaker 4: this energy of like I'm the same one, so that
- 43:13Speaker 4: if you go crazy.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Or if you do something wrong, it looks like you
- 43:17Speaker 2: did it wrong.
- 43:18Speaker 4: That's why he invited her to his hotel, because he
- 43:22Speaker 4: could have easily gone across the sands.
- 43:24Speaker 2: And he could have her hotel, but she went to
- 43:28Speaker 2: his hotel. Now she looks like the Hope ladies. Sometimes
- 43:31Speaker 2: you watch the shows with the man and be like,
- 43:34Speaker 2: what's the game play? But see he looks like the
- 43:37Speaker 2: same ones. He's just there for work. That is fucking interastic.
- 43:41Speaker 3: He's an I'm always right and I'm always good guy.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah, you can't be mad at a carpenter. What are
- 43:47Speaker 2: you mad at? Jesus? Can I tell you the part
- 43:49Speaker 2: that fucking made me sick? And Mandy? Also, you you
- 43:53Speaker 2: tell me how your thought that Steve and Aiden were
- 43:56Speaker 2: friends or they were friends acting back, because.
- 44:01Speaker 4: I think I dropped my cup when I found that out.
- 44:03Speaker 4: I thought I was even like, I pause it.
- 44:05Speaker 1: It was like, whoa Steve just just literal two broke
- 44:10Speaker 1: guys pulling from out of their league.
- 44:14Speaker 3: And then and it's like that's what they have in common.
- 44:17Speaker 2: And then again, living in New York. New York is
- 44:21Speaker 2: so big, you would think you could find anyone. No,
- 44:24Speaker 2: actually it's so big that you only talk to people.
- 44:26Speaker 2: And then they brought a bar together, right, Yeah, they
- 44:28Speaker 2: didn't a bar together. Yeah. I was like, really good
- 44:32Speaker 2: because they didn't. They weren't friends. I always thought they
- 44:35Speaker 2: were friends and then they like but like they were
- 44:37Speaker 2: never they knew they exclusively met because the Miranda. Yeah,
- 44:42Speaker 2: after the breakdown.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Steve also played the aiding game where he was like,
- 44:46Speaker 1: you should want my baby and my broke.
- 44:49Speaker 2: Ass, and like, have you ever tried having fun that
- 44:52Speaker 2: is not as extreme as aided? But yeah, Steve did
- 44:56Speaker 2: that too. Oh I hated stee well, I she hated
- 45:00Speaker 2: Steve and at the very beginning when when he first
- 45:04Speaker 2: met him, because I was a fan of Miranda, she
- 45:06Speaker 2: made me choose somebody, so I had to choose someone,
- 45:09Speaker 2: and I looked I looked at Miranda more like Okay,
- 45:11Speaker 2: I like her. She's I'm a fan of what she's doing, right,
- 45:15Speaker 2: And I was like, oh my god.
- 45:17Speaker 4: And so Steve comes into the picture and I kind
- 45:20Speaker 4: of felt like he didn't know his position, you know,
- 45:25Speaker 4: like she's a fucking lawyer, bro, she's.
- 45:27Speaker 2: Got to be up early in the morning. You try
- 45:29Speaker 2: to have her like stay over to cuddle, and like
- 45:32Speaker 2: she's got a meeting, bro, Like, this is a working girl.
- 45:35Speaker 3: You know you work opposite schedules, and her job means
- 45:39Speaker 3: more than yours.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Like I didn't know what to tell her. God makes
- 45:42Speaker 2: way more than yours. And like, I get it. You're
- 45:46Speaker 2: trying to get her to settle with you, settle down
- 45:49Speaker 2: with you because you love her. I totally get that.
- 45:52Speaker 4: But he wasn't playing it the right way and the
- 45:55Speaker 4: sense of like seeming supportive of it. He seemed like
- 45:59Speaker 4: he was trying to like bring her down at his level,
- 46:01Speaker 4: and I wasn't.
- 46:02Speaker 2: A fan of that.
- 46:03Speaker 1: He has short man syndrome. So did he love Miranda
- 46:07Speaker 1: or did he love that he could bag Miranda and
- 46:10Speaker 1: then impregnant Miranda and trap her.
- 46:13Speaker 4: I can see that, And definitely it was a trap.
- 46:16Speaker 4: I would say that. Yeah, Like if you if you knew.
- 46:19Speaker 2: These people as people and they were all just friends
- 46:22Speaker 2: that we were talking about, you'd be like, Yo, my guy,
- 46:24Speaker 2: Steve got her pregnant. She's not going anywhere.
- 46:27Speaker 3: What are I going to that wedding? I don't know
- 46:29Speaker 3: if I can.
- 46:31Speaker 2: What about when he got the dog? Oh? Like this
- 46:36Speaker 2: is too much, too much, tout a fucking dog.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Yeah, there was like a point where, like every Steed
- 46:41Speaker 4: storyline was like, my guy just keeps making mistakes.
- 46:44Speaker 2: But at some point, at some point when when she
- 46:48Speaker 2: got blaming, when she got I got to be honest
- 46:53Speaker 2: over when she got.
- 46:54Speaker 4: Pregnant, I really like kind of change out there, and
- 46:58Speaker 4: I'm just like, look, friend, you're not gonna you're not
- 47:03Speaker 4: gonna have an abortion. You and I both know that you're.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Gonna have the kid.
- 47:07Speaker 4: And he's yeah, nobody's saying I have a mentality of
- 47:10Speaker 4: like nobody saying you gotta beat with them, but raise
- 47:13Speaker 4: the kid with them.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Like you gotta be you gotta be okay with the
- 47:17Speaker 2: fact that he's gonna be the father of the kid.
- 47:19Speaker 2: So when they ended up together and he bought the house.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Brooklyn, Brooklyn, Brooklyn, I was kind.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Of like Miranda, like, you're kind of fighting against the
- 47:29Speaker 2: water right now. But then he cheated and cheated.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because of his short aand syndrome, because he's always yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 2: So he's not gonna say he was making mistakes and
- 47:39Speaker 2: mistake you.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Know, showing it.
- 47:41Speaker 1: So having a one night stand with someone and then
- 47:44Speaker 1: them showing up to your house days later, to be like,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I have your phone number and I decided that we
- 47:49Speaker 1: should be seeing one another as like illegal, do not
- 47:53Speaker 1: show up to my house.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I guess it's okay, this is right, because the part
- 48:01Speaker 2: of be like, oh, that took a lot of fun
- 48:03Speaker 2: after to come back in here, and like the other
- 48:05Speaker 2: side of me be like, that's fucking weird.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm intrigued and.
- 48:08Speaker 2: I want to know more. Like to me, i'd be like,
- 48:10Speaker 2: that's I want to know more, Like what else are
- 48:12Speaker 2: you willing to be if you're willing to know what else?
- 48:15Speaker 2: Which is probably sick, and I could take a look
- 48:17Speaker 2: at that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I guess okay. But
- 48:21Speaker 2: some things are like cell phone usage, social media. None
- 48:25Speaker 2: of that was like a factory back then, and so
- 48:28Speaker 2: I feel like some of the stunts that they were
- 48:30Speaker 2: doing it absolutely would not work right now, but it
- 48:34Speaker 2: also wasn't a big deal back then. I watually what
- 48:37Speaker 2: it would takes you out is like TV shows that
- 48:39Speaker 2: have scenes with the cancering machines, Oh my god, and
- 48:43Speaker 2: we don't even you know.
- 48:44Speaker 1: The new iPhone update was like you'll never find your voicemails,
- 48:47Speaker 1: and I'm like, I've never listened to a voicemail, so
- 48:50Speaker 1: that's fine. After watching this is also like my hot
- 48:54Speaker 1: mein take, after watching all of sex of listening and
- 48:59Speaker 1: then and just like that, I gotta tell you, Miranda,
- 49:01Speaker 1: Brady wasn't worth it, Like Brady not a great guy,
- 49:04Speaker 1: not worth it, your son, your son that you shackled
- 49:08Speaker 1: yourself to stee for not great.
- 49:11Speaker 3: It's a weirdo.
- 49:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but like Brady didn't stand a chance, yes, right
- 49:19Speaker 2: by Magda exact the first season of and just like that,
- 49:25Speaker 2: this is white people shit. I'm sure you I don't know.
- 49:28Speaker 2: But like Miranda was letting his girlfriend, who happened to
- 49:31Speaker 2: be a spicy Latina, so I don't even because they
- 49:34Speaker 2: live in Brooklyn and she would stay. The girl would
- 49:36Speaker 2: stay at the house like sleepover. They're having sex with
- 49:39Speaker 2: a pass for home, not having sex. And I was
- 49:42Speaker 2: just like and Miranda's like hello, like respect, and I'm
- 49:47Speaker 2: like this you allow us to happen. At what point
- 49:51Speaker 2: was nobody like are you out of your dad? Damn line.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Brady is a jump skier. Every time you see him
- 49:57Speaker 1: as like a teen, you're like ah, and then he
- 50:01Speaker 1: talks and then you're like, I want to turn this off.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Steve said Steve Core. But it's like Miranda, Oh yeah, yeah,
- 50:09Speaker 2: I the we It sucked great because I think just
- 50:14Speaker 2: like that really had a uh it could have been yeah,
- 50:19Speaker 2: and I the stool. I was probably a little more
- 50:22Speaker 2: interested in the kids, to be honest with you. But
- 50:25Speaker 2: I like just like that because I was like, oh,
- 50:27Speaker 2: when I'm sixty, I could still be fab and fabulous,
- 50:30Speaker 2: Like yes, yeah, I could still be out here in
- 50:33Speaker 2: the streets. I could still be having That's what I
- 50:36Speaker 2: liked about it.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I need to go back to Stephen the dog, because
- 50:40Speaker 1: here's the thing. I have a cat, but I grew
- 50:43Speaker 1: up a dog girl. I love dogs, but I.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Can't stand a surprise unwanted dog.
- 50:51Speaker 2: That's like a second unsurprised unwanted child. But then you
- 50:54Speaker 2: eventually want to talk.
- 50:55Speaker 1: But like, yeah, if a cat shows up to my house,
- 50:59Speaker 1: you know they're gonna nap and they're gonna like, you know,
- 51:02Speaker 1: lays around, and then they'll probably leave. Kats love to leave,
- 51:06Speaker 1: but a dog, an unwanted dog, is so much energy
- 51:12Speaker 1: and effort you can't just if you know, Miranda isn't
- 51:16Speaker 1: a dog person, and you're like, I know, I'll just
- 51:19Speaker 1: get my way and buy the dog.
- 51:22Speaker 3: That's that's abuse, that's foulsol abuse.
- 51:24Speaker 2: Yeah no, yeah, because he even guilt shippers. Yeah, the idea,
- 51:29Speaker 2: the dog thing with Steve, the idea of brain it's
- 51:33Speaker 2: not a small dog, but it wasn't a small dog,
- 51:36Speaker 2: and that doesn't That's something that really kind of bothers
- 51:39Speaker 2: me when you see big dogs and small apartment lily
- 51:43Speaker 2: situations like that's gonna be awkward for the dog. Yeah, yeah,
- 51:47Speaker 2: that bums me. It's like you couldn't get her a
- 51:49Speaker 2: chihuahua or something. It was her apartment. Something Maga could
- 51:55Speaker 2: help with, Maga dog mag do Bob can we talk
- 52:00Speaker 2: about because this is where I was like, everybody's wrong.
- 52:06Speaker 2: That check that Big gave her to save her apartment.
- 52:10Speaker 2: I don't remember she did.
- 52:13Speaker 3: I think she gave it back. I don't want it everywhere.
- 52:16Speaker 3: And like this is from the lady who.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Has the misogyny podcast, who's like they're always trying to
- 52:20Speaker 1: control list with money. I would have taken the money.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Take that money, all that grief, all that grief of
- 52:25Speaker 3: following him around New York, setting him to like you,
- 52:28Speaker 3: that's your time and your hourly rate is whatever.
- 52:32Speaker 2: He wrote you a check for like, I can't believe
- 52:36Speaker 2: that I was just like, first of all, I would
- 52:39Speaker 2: be on cloud mind and you won't be able to
- 52:41Speaker 2: tell me shit or some man okay that I'm not
- 52:45Speaker 2: even in a relationship with dropping a thirty k check,
- 52:48Speaker 2: Like you're not telling me not I am fly, I
- 52:51Speaker 2: am that bitch like you. I would be writing that shit.
- 52:55Speaker 2: And I don't give it bout what nobody says. Did
- 52:57Speaker 2: somebody give you a thirty thousand dollars check? Vib No, okay, no,
- 53:01Speaker 2: they did it. That's yeah, yeah, definitely because she was
- 53:05Speaker 2: in a situation where because they ate it. Yeah, well
- 53:08Speaker 2: she needed because of it. Oh yeah he did that.
- 53:11Speaker 2: I didn't even talk about that when I'll say and
- 53:13Speaker 2: how he's a weirdo. The fact that he got left
- 53:18Speaker 2: her with this in the hole in the wall.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Basically the kind carpenter just has a tantrum and leaves
- 53:26Speaker 1: you with a hole in your wall.
- 53:28Speaker 2: There's something that she didn't want. Yeah, she didn't want
- 53:31Speaker 2: the other apartment. Now that she didn't want, she did it.
- 53:34Speaker 2: She loves her part of the way it was, Yeah,
- 53:37Speaker 2: he chose. Oh my god, I can't believe I'm his No,
- 53:40Speaker 2: like realize that, Yeah, he did that and then fucking
- 53:43Speaker 2: said I want my but oh my god, he is
- 53:45Speaker 2: a terrible person.
- 53:46Speaker 1: He's a terrible person. Also, I would have catched that
- 53:48Speaker 1: check and I would have told nobody. They would have
- 53:50Speaker 1: been like, Daly, where'd you get that money to save
- 53:52Speaker 1: your apartment? And I'd be like, don't worry about it.
- 53:54Speaker 2: I'm I got it.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Thought some prayers, my powers, I may nifested it is
- 53:59Speaker 3: what I did. I lit a candle.
- 54:01Speaker 2: You got that? What did you think about the whole
- 54:05Speaker 2: Charlotte not giving them? Like I thought I was gonna
- 54:09Speaker 2: bring that up. Actually on the other side again, having
- 54:12Speaker 2: a friend like Charlotte giving you the ring and saying
- 54:16Speaker 2: do what you need to do with this. Yeah, but
- 54:17Speaker 2: that came like, like I thought that was really weird
- 54:21Speaker 2: because how about asking myf Like I know she didn't ask.
- 54:26Speaker 1: I am taking the ring to pawn it though, Like
- 54:28Speaker 1: I do believe that the only way that we get
- 54:31Speaker 1: out of the trap of like needing men to cut
- 54:33Speaker 1: us at thirty kight check is if we all start
- 54:36Speaker 1: to village our bills together, like what are your bills?
- 54:39Speaker 1: What I've got the movie this week? You can have
- 54:41Speaker 1: Chili's next week, Like it's all gonna be okay.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that was like a creepy. But because also
- 54:47Speaker 2: when she's an apartment hunting and you use the prices,
- 54:51Speaker 2: me and him were hackling. We were crackling. We were like,
- 54:55Speaker 2: so twenty something years ago apartments did because she was
- 54:58Speaker 2: only exclusively with the Manhattan. We're fucking what it costs
- 55:03Speaker 2: now to live in like the worst part of the Bronx.
- 55:06Speaker 2: And I was fucking crackling, and I was like, I
- 55:08Speaker 2: cannot believe that it has not changed a bit. How
- 55:11Speaker 2: relevant all of this. Yeah, that was a really funny,
- 55:14Speaker 2: sad episode, was the Lanks.
- 55:16Speaker 1: I would have gone to convince myself in my head
- 55:20Speaker 1: and be like, well, the only reason I was fucking
- 55:22Speaker 1: around with Aiden anyways is because they fucking traumatized me.
- 55:25Speaker 1: And then Aiden put a hole in my wall, So actually,
- 55:27Speaker 1: this is big problem and I'm taking it thirty.
- 55:30Speaker 2: Thousand dollars and the jury says yes.
- 55:34Speaker 1: I also looked at like, for a group of women
- 55:38Speaker 1: who are so secure in their own friendships and in
- 55:41Speaker 1: their lifestyle, Harry hates to see another woman coming. She
- 55:46Speaker 1: couldn't ever get over that big head ex wives. I
- 55:49Speaker 1: was like, but you knew why are you stalking these
- 55:52Speaker 1: ex wives? Remember when she went to the church to
- 55:56Speaker 1: look at his mom.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah, I was so embarrassed for her. I was
- 56:01Speaker 2: like I would not go out with her, oh because
- 56:05Speaker 2: Carrie Cambon.
- 56:05Speaker 3: Things go like that, right, showing up to a church
- 56:08Speaker 3: and then like with Miranda, I was like, this is wild.
- 56:12Speaker 2: I'm not going.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I'm not going with you to stop this Fand's mother.
- 56:17Speaker 2: I feel like Sex and the City really perpetuated this
- 56:21Speaker 2: thing of like if you're a Pole City girl thing,
- 56:23Speaker 2: you definitely have friends and you're like in the gay culture,
- 56:27Speaker 2: and I think some people who aren't those type of
- 56:31Speaker 2: women really were like purposely try to recruit gay men
- 56:38Speaker 2: to their friend group to like learn more about like
- 56:42Speaker 2: you know, gay people invented brunch. Yeah, women batchelor red
- 56:47Speaker 2: party that we like we took over, and then straight
- 56:50Speaker 2: people as a people just like totally goring brunch. Yeah, totally.
- 56:55Speaker 1: In the City ruined lesbian bars, is what happened. Yeah,
- 57:00Speaker 1: So so Samantha dating that woman. I think it's Miranda
- 57:04Speaker 1: who says that bisexuality isn't real. She's like, what are
- 57:07Speaker 1: you talking?
- 57:07Speaker 3: Or it's Carrie. One of them goes what are you
- 57:09Speaker 3: talking about people aren't by that's made up?
- 57:13Speaker 2: If it's Miranda who says the fucking like, then you
- 57:17Speaker 2: got to watch the new show because you're just like girl.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I know that.
- 57:21Speaker 1: Carrie says it when she ends up sleeping with a
- 57:24Speaker 1: bye guy and she really likes them, but she can't
- 57:26Speaker 1: get over it. Yeah, she's like, because bisexuality is just
- 57:30Speaker 1: Gama not coming out or whatever. She says something horrific.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Charlotte has the hardest time with Miranda coming out and
- 57:38Speaker 1: just like that. But when Samantha comes out. I think
- 57:40Speaker 1: it's Miranda who's like, who the fuck do you think
- 57:43Speaker 1: you are all of a sudden walking up to brunch
- 57:45Speaker 1: today gay?
- 57:46Speaker 2: Like, what are you talking about? I mean that would
- 57:49Speaker 2: have been my reaction too, But I think she was
- 57:51Speaker 2: like probably always into that and she just never met
- 57:54Speaker 2: a bitch that was cool enough.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I have one last question before we probably read uh,
- 58:00Speaker 1: do you think watching it currently now that this show
- 58:06Speaker 1: holds up as technically women centered entertainment or does the
- 58:11Speaker 1: theme of there being like you have to be concerned,
- 58:14Speaker 1: Like I blame Charlotte for a lot of all of
- 58:17Speaker 1: the things that women allowed happened to happen to them
- 58:20Speaker 1: on Sex and the City because Charlotte was always there
- 58:23Speaker 1: to tell you, but this is going to pay off
- 58:24Speaker 1: when you get your fairy tale. This is just all
- 58:27Speaker 1: going to pay off when he finally picks you.
- 58:30Speaker 2: But it works for her, But it worked, but it
- 58:32Speaker 2: worked for Charlotte. Yeah.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Yeah. But do you still think that this gets to
- 58:39Speaker 1: be a pillar of women's centered entertainment.
- 58:43Speaker 2: I think it does, honestly, because I don't know so much.
- 58:48Speaker 2: If it was a lot, if there were a lot
- 58:50Speaker 2: of women in the writing room to put these stories together,
- 58:53Speaker 2: I doubt at all that they were easier than one.
- 58:57Speaker 4: But I feel like most of the stories the guys
- 59:01Speaker 4: were like pick a guy for this week and then
- 59:05Speaker 4: he's gone, right, Yeah, definitely, And even the guys who
- 59:11Speaker 4: do stick around, their stories revolve around what's going on
- 59:16Speaker 4: with these four women. So I think it's done really well.
- 59:20Speaker 4: And they don't do like I'm a fan of comedy
- 59:23Speaker 4: and I love when there's a good joke put in,
- 59:26Speaker 4: but there's like no there. It's hard to pinpoint a.
- 59:29Speaker 2: Part where their jokes aren't landing, you know, because it's
- 59:33Speaker 2: not a comedy show. But the funny stuff is like okay,
- 59:37Speaker 2: that was good. That was good. But I feel like
- 59:40Speaker 2: in Sex and the City.
- 59:42Speaker 4: Obviously it was guys writing it. You know, it took
- 59:45Speaker 4: years for to get women in the writing room. But
- 59:49Speaker 4: I feel like I don't see anything where it's putting
- 59:53Speaker 4: their characters in a bad light. Definitely puts guys in
- 59:56Speaker 4: the bad light, which is a good thing because I
- 59:59Speaker 4: feel like it's more listening.
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I mean when I was always defending Taylor Swift until
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: right now when her and I are night over the
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: last yea, thank you, thank you for being honest. So anyway,
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: her and I, But when I was a defender, I
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: would always say that the reason why Taylor Swift's songs
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: and albums about her ex's land is because sometimes you
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: do have to center men in art to make other
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: women wake up to the bullshit that's happening. So like,
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: all too well, I think that that's an anthem about
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: when she seems like.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: It was rare.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: I was there, I remember it all too well. That's
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: her being all like, you sold me a story. I
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: remember it being good, and then you ripped it from
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: me because you were just fucking gaslighting me the entire time.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: And I'm like, women need that song. So I think
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: that like sex and them said, he did so much
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: sexuality wise, getting women to talk about sex with their friends, infertility, fertility,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: unplanned pregnancy, abortion, Like they ran the gamut throughout that
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: entire show and we're still talking about it.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: For me, it is women centric because of basically of
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: everything you said. But as a young woman watching that,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: I was like, oh, fuck these guys, Like I like
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: really resonated with the Samantha of it all of like
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: I can have sex without having emotional attachment because sex
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: can be fun, sex can be all these things done safely,
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: can be all these things. I don't have to feel
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: bad about it. I don't have to feel bad if
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: I'm talking to three four guys or if I'm like, oh,
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: if this one's acking up, I'm gonna get it. Like
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: to me, that was such a pillar of my colleges
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: into my early twenties, and I don't know if I
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: would have felt that way if I didn't have a
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: show like that. That was like really sending the message
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: of sexes for everybody. Men. You know, don't let men's
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: ideas of what a woman's supposed to be be inflicted
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: upon you. Because like even the men that Samantha dated.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: It was like they you know, she's tall, blonde and beautiful,
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: but she's a boss and nobody's gonna tell her what
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: to do. She's gonna tell you what to do. And
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: that to me was just like, oh, I can do that.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I could be saft like Charlotte, I can't. I can't
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: do that. But it just shows like different ways, different
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: outlets of like finding love, Like you can be a
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: carry and it could work out for you, but the
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: trauma that led you there might be crazy, but you
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: are still capable of finding love. You know, Miranda, whether
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: it's what a woman or a mant, you're capable of
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: finding love. You are capable of Samantha capable of finding love, Charlotte,
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: like these women are. It teaches you like you are
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: capable no matter which character you are a finding love,
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: but you have to be youthful. You cannot fit there
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: because that's what Charlotte did with Trey, and she's like,
- 1:03:03Speaker 2: oh my god, I fucking hate him. I fucking hate
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: And even when Samantha was, uh, like his name Jared,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: and she was just like, I don't like the person.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: I like, I love you, but I just don't love
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: the person I am, and I love myself more than you.
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: And I was like, Sis, yes, and.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: When you need to hear shit like that, at the
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: end of the day, you're going to the grave with yourself,
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: so you better love yourself.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: Yeah, And I don't know that I would have would
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: have had that outlook if it wasn't for this show
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: to be like if a boy, if a guy broke
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: my heart, yeah, I'll have a day or two your crime,
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: but also then the anger rage and like I'm this
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: bad bitch and like fuck him, I'm at a run
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: five miles, I'm gonna like. I think it did a
- 1:03:51Speaker 2: lot for the culture, and I know, like people are
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: so pissed off about this spinoff, but I also think
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: if you had the time, I think it could have
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: been a great hill and especially for women over fifty,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: over six, and to show us young women like you
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: don't die when you hit your thirties, when you hear
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: your forties.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I think because we always end episodes with manifestations, and
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: sometimes I just I'm like, and that manifestation was good enough.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: I'm out from doing my own job. But I think
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: if I could manifest anything out of sex in the City,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: it would be more character driven stories where it's like,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: by the end of the season, I know these people
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: in and out, and I don't know if we get
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: to do it in ten episodes, it's.
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Really tough because I mean it's by the end of
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: the first season.
- 1:04:37Speaker 4: I would say stuff like my friend Carrie is so
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: I would say something like that about shows anymore.
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: But you know what the gag is, the original Sex
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: and the City was only ten episodes. That is kind
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: of crazy.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Well, okay, we end every episode with our guests telling
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: us what they've learned from our topic and then a
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: manifestation that they'd like to add back into the collected entergy,
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: so we can end the bullshit.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: But what do you think was your.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Biggest takeaway from doing a Sex and the City rewatch
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: in twenty five?
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: My big wow, what did I learn?
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I was your life lesson?
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: My life lesson? My life lesson was that watching it
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: with a man who's never watched it before really opened
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: my eyes to a lot of other theories, like the
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: whole aiden theory, because I was like deceived theory of
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: it all because I was just like those guys agreat
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: those are the guys who want to end up with
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: so rewatching it with a guy who's like oh no, no, no, no,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: was like, was like, well, damn, you should have been
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: a dating Like where have you been on the side.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: What I want to manifest back is like how cool
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: New York us to be and how like Lively used
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: to be. And I would manifest that culture back if
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: I could hopefully, hopefully do a full circle of whatever's
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: happening now we get to go back to that.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: What I learned doing the rewatch definitely, like I said
- 1:06:09Speaker 4: in the beginning, I've learned that it's probably the most
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: accurate to New York lifestyle. It really if you take
- 1:06:15Speaker 4: away the characters and just like take a look at
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: what's going on in the background. It is definitely that
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: that feel and that look that you look for when
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: you come to New York. And then like the dirty
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: parts too.
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Like the things that they're doing when they gets into
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: the scrap, but also like watching it like I was
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: always out of.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: The roof with the jokes. There's this joke on Forgetting
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: Sarah Marshall where he's drunk and he's like, oh, I'm Miranda,
- 1:06:45Speaker 4: I don't have that much sense, So I'm Samantha I
- 1:06:48Speaker 4: have sex with it.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Like, I heard the joke, but I didn't understand it
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: until now. And then you watch other shows and you
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: can see how influential this show was. Because I was
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: definitely pausing like, oh, I've seen that's that's where they
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: got it from. You know, I definitely see just watching it.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: I don't want to say it opened my eyes because
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: I've always been as far as I can tell, at
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: least the last ten years, I've always been I want
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: to say an ally.
- 1:07:21Speaker 4: You know, I've never really been the type to be
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: in a guys group and be like, all the guys
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: are right. I've always been kind of on women's side
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: on stuff. I've always leaned towards that.
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So it didn't really so much open my eyes,
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: but watching it was really fun to understand what the
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: hype was because it was good if it got me
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: in the first couple episodes.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: As far as what I would like to manifest, would
- 1:07:49Speaker 4: I like to put out there, You're right, they should
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: do a show about Stan.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: It can't no, I like, somebody could put young Stan
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: on the streets of New York.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Television. Gay, Yeah, put it on there?
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Why not? Like these side characters that kept coming back. Yeah,
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: like because they're that's all you know already, They're gonna
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: keep They're not just gonna let go of VIP, you know,
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: like they're gonna keep trying to make as much money
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: as they can so they diet wanna be side characters
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: and give them the show? Why not? I'll watch that.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: I would like to see like some skits from people, though,
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: like of conversations that you know happened that weren't you know,
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: Like how like the whole conversation of Steve and Aiden,
- 1:08:41Speaker 4: like when they first met and decided to become friends,
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: and like the whole thing of them getting a bar
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: together hadn't been a conversation there about Carrie. You're right,
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: they were talking about it about the women. But I
- 1:08:54Speaker 4: want to hear I want to know what they were saying.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: No, me too, Yeah, yeah, you share that.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: Are you sure we should be doing this? It's fine, man,
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: It's fine, They're gonna be fine. Man, nobody's gonna get mad.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: Sure about this?
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Uhh Yeah.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: And everyone's final reminder was is that sex in the City?
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Was I actually about those men at all?
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Did you?
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: Could you imagine me? Aiden?
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: And again, I'm not I'm not on seeing any of
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: them at this point, but like to be aiden and
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: it's like, man, I just wish that I could live
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: up to the man that my girlfriend and her friends
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: referred to as Big.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: But Big was also jealous of eating.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Yeah, no, they hated one another because you are coming
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: back because now we're best friends. Uh so, thank you
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: so much for this being your first of many episodes
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: and they once again thank you for seeing my comment
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: on an Instagram feed and it was like that girls should.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: Be our friend. Yeah really, Yeah, we're out.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Make sure that the tolerators and everyone know where the
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: they can find you and sport you.
