- 0:05time span so we can
- 0:06make decisions quicker like this is how you this is how you
- 0:09work smarter and not
- 0:10harder because you're actually really intentional of what
- 0:13you're using your energy
- 0:14on we waste so much time and energy on things that don't
- 0:18actually matter and don't
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: actually move our business forward
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Sherp Strategies, Sweet Success.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Hello, everyone, and welcome.
- 0:37You are listening to Sherp Strategies,
- 0:39Sweet Success,
- 0:40and I am your host,
- 0:41Tiffany Swedensky.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: And today I am talking with Kaylee Kennedy of Limitless Coaching.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: I met Kaylee back in July, I think it was, at the GLM Mastermind.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: And she comes from a PR background.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: And actually that day I was talking about PR.
- 0:59And so she came right up after I did the presentation and we
- 1:02just started talking
- 1:03about PR and marketing and what she is doing and invited her
- 1:07here on the show.
- 1:09So I'll let her finish out the introduction and just go over
- 1:13what she's doing for
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: her clients right now.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Tiffany, and thanks for having me.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: It's nice to see you again.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so I'm a business and mindset coach now.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: My background is in customer service.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: I have a degree in public relations,
- 1:27worked in marketing and PR and communications and event
- 1:29planning and all of the
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: things in my corporate life.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: And a couple of years ago,
- 1:34I invested in mindset coaching for myself actually right before
- 1:39my son was born.
- 1:40I didn't love my corporate job,
- 1:43didn't love the cubicle life,
- 1:45just wasn't feeling fulfilled.
- 1:47And I invested in a mindset coach and that changed the complete
- 1:51trajectory of my life.
- 1:52And personally,
- 1:54first of all,
- 1:55like stepping into motherhood with confidence during COVID-19.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: not expected.
- 2:02That's when I really realized that what I had learned in the
- 2:05mindset space was
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: like,
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: there was something really special there.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And that's when my business started.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: So I started my business during COVID.
- 2:11It'll be going on five years in January,
- 2:13this coming January,
- 2:14which is really exciting.
- 2:16I've worked for numerous international coaches prior to going
- 2:20off and starting my
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: own kind of consulting and coaching business.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: in January of 2024.
- 2:26So what I actually do and how I actually support people is I
- 2:30help them build
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: businesses that feel as good as they look.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: I find a lot of entrepreneurs,
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: small business owners,
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: lawyers,
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: which I know you work a lot with,
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: they can build that super successful business,
- 2:40but a lot of people lose themselves on the path of building
- 2:44those businesses.
- 2:45So I really want to help small business owners and
- 2:47entrepreneurs align their
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: values,
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: who they are,
- 2:51what they stand for with the businesses and be able to achieve
- 2:54that kind of
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: aligned,
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: deep inner success.
- 2:58And there,
- 2:59there really is something magical about mindset and,
- 3:02and coaching.
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm used to a few times in my life too.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: And, and oddly it was a doula.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: I actually hired a,
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: that I think technically that was my first mindset coach,
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: so to speak was a doula when I was having my son.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Cause I wanted a specific type of birth,
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: a specific type of labor,
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: which is unmedicated and didn't feel confident I could do it alone,
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: I guess.
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And it was actually really cool.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: It was a really nice.
- 3:26SPEAKER_01: And like you said, there's something really cool and magical about it.
- 3:30So I guess like from you,
- 3:33you said business owners kind of lose their way in business.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: Can you give me like a,
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: you don't have to like name names or anything,
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: but can you give me like a,
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: maybe a more specific example of what that looks like?
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 3:46So I would say a lot of people who end up coming to me come to
- 3:51me because they've
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: built this business,
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: but they burn out.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: They're working, hustling, grinding, doing all the things.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And they've actually lost sight of the things that really matter.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Because burnout is,
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: yes,
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: it's from doing too much,
- 4:05but it's also from not doing enough of the things that light
- 4:08your soul on fire.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: And I find,
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: especially here in North America,
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: and I'm up in Canada,
- 4:14but I think we are very much like North America work culture is
- 4:17the hustle,
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: the grind,
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: the just go,
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: go,
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: go,
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: busy,
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: busy.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: And in the busyness of life,
- 4:24we sometimes forget our purpose of why it is that we're
- 4:27actually doing the things that we do.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: So I've had clients who are just burnt out,
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: who like they want to basically like burn their business down.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: They're like, I'm done.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: Like I can't do this anymore.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: Stress,
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: chaos,
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: not putting their families first,
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: getting to that point of like,
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: what is this all for?
- 4:46So I'd help them come back to reminding them what it's all for
- 4:49and then building a
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: business from that space.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: So yeah,
- 4:52Even if they've already built a super successful practice or
- 4:54business or whatever,
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: like I work with a lot of,
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: I do work with lawyers,
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: I work with real estate agents,
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: a lot of people who are in sales,
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: I work with other coaches.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Before they get to that point of actually burning their business down,
- 5:06I take them back to that why and then help them kind of
- 5:08reground and regroup in
- 5:10that space so that they can start showing up differently in
- 5:12their business.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: And a lot of that too is subconscious reprogramming.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Like the North American work,
- 5:19how we've been programmed to work here in North America isn't
- 5:21sustainable.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: So it's no wonder that we burn out, right?
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Like we're not taught to put ourselves first.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: You go on an airplane,
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: they say,
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: put your oxygen mask on before you put anyone else's oxygen mask on.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: But we're not shown how to do that.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: So I help people do that again.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: I don't know if that kind of helps clarify that a little bit more.
- 5:39Earlier this,
- 5:40I guess this summer,
- 5:41I read The Gifts of Imperfection by Renee Brown.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: I hope I say her name right.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: And I really recommend that one.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: It sounds like you're familiar as well.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: But she very much talks about like just embracing the imperfection,
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: the importance of incorporating creativity.
- 5:59And just the thing that sticks with me is just like waking up
- 6:04and like just accepting that.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: that what you do that day is enough.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Like whatever you get done or do that day is enough.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: And as a business owner,
- 6:13you start the day with like 10 things on a checklist and you
- 6:16get to like five,
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: seven of them if you're lucky,
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: all 10 if you're on fire.
- 6:20And it's hard because that's every day there's something left
- 6:23undone that gets
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: pushed to the next.
- 6:26And I love owning a business,
- 6:28but it's like it's a lifestyle and it's a lot of work.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: I feel like I'm stating the obvious.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: And so I mean, it's so, so easy to get burned out doing this stuff.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: And just because I most of my listeners are lawyers or work for lawyers.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: And so I got to ask the classic question,
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: like,
- 6:44how are lawyers different from the other business owners that
- 6:48you work with?
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: And how are they different?
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: That's a good question.
- 6:54I would say I've seen a lot of comparison between my lawyer
- 6:57clients and my clients
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: who are in financial services and real estate.
- 7:01I can see a lot of similarities in the drive and just how those
- 7:06people in those
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: industries show up.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: the difference between lawyers are usually the education,
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: usually the experience to get to where you've gotten to,
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: because there's a lot of education,
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: there's the
- 7:19the interning and like all of the things that lead up into
- 7:22actually practicing.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: What I have noticed,
- 7:26I've had this conversation with a couple of my clients is the
- 7:29people who kind of
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: move through that with a more positive mindset,
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: more positive outlook,
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: more self-compassion,
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: more self-acceptance are going to build the more,
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: I'm going to say not successful,
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: but successful and aligned practices.
- 7:43Because the thing is we can't build,
- 7:45like we build from a place of chaos.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: We build chaos.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And when I say chaos, I mean like your nervous system.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: I mean your mindset.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Like most people are steeped in fear.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: They're steeped in worry.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: They're steeped in lack.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: They're steeped in limitation.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: They're steeped in other people's expectations.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: They don't really know who they are.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: They don't, you know, bad habits.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Like all of these things.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Like you just pile it up, right?
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: It doesn't really matter what industry you're in.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: That's one for them.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: Notice,
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: I just know for lawyers in particular,
- 8:16because there's a lower barrier to entry with some of these
- 8:19other professionals
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: that I work with,
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: there's a higher barrier to entry,
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: but sometimes that comes with actually putting on more pressure.
- 8:26So they get to that state of building their own practice or
- 8:29moving up in the
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: practice,
- 8:31and they've already been working from this place of pressure
- 8:34and expectation.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: So that can break you pretty quick too, right?
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: I don't know where I heard this or if it's like a study or something,
- 8:44but I do believe that there's a correlation between more
- 8:47education or people with a
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: higher intelligence and then just like anxiety because you're more,
- 8:54SPEAKER_01: I guess,
- 8:55aware of the consequences or your future thinking and you're
- 9:00going too far and the
- 9:01SPEAKER_01: worry just starts to build and build.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: And worrying is a habit.
- 9:06And the more you do it,
- 9:08the more you will do it and you'll continue to do it.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: And it doesn't help.
- 9:12Like it doesn't thinking about all of these things and just
- 9:15constantly kind of
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: churning it over in your head.
- 9:18SPEAKER_01: It really doesn't help.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Although business owners were still going to do it.
- 9:22SPEAKER_01: Like my husband was,
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: I forget,
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: he was talking to me about something and in my defense,
- 9:26SPEAKER_01: it was kind of boring.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: And he looked over at me and he was like, you're kind of distracted.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: And I was like,
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: well,
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking about ways of making money,
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: which is genuinely,
- 9:35SPEAKER_01: honestly true.
- 9:35I was looking up at a corner,
- 9:37like had a quick business idea and mulling over in my head.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: And it's hard to turn off.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: But when you're a business owner,
- 9:43you kind of have to be just like doing that stuff and thinking
- 9:45about that stuff.
- 9:47I think it's interesting that you compared lawyers to,
- 9:50to real estate agents.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: I'm sure a lot of them don't think about it like that,
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: but it is very much like a hustle,
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: hustle lifestyle when you're trying to get new clients.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: That's where the,
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: that's kind of the,
- 10:00the parallels that I see is that hustle that grind or that
- 10:04thinking they need to be
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: on 24 seven.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_00: And that's also like the industry.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: That's what the industry tells you.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: So then you accept that idea.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Like it's funny when you mentioned anxiety,
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: what I have learned in my own experience of releasing a ton,
- 10:21like I used to be a very anxious person is anxiety really
- 10:25happens when you let the
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: outside world in and
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: We don't know how to not let the outside world in.
- 10:31So when I like talk about the mindset work that I do is I help
- 10:34people build up that control.
- 10:35So their self-control so that you can stop letting so much of
- 10:39the outside world in
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: because we let the things around us control us.
- 10:43Like one of my favorite examples is you're driving to work in
- 10:47the morning or
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: whatever and something happens that pisses you off.
- 10:51It happens in five seconds and you let that five seconds ruin
- 10:53your whole day.
- 10:54Because the same thing could happen to me and I'll just brush
- 10:57it off,
- 10:58but it's a choice.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: And we keep making these choices to let the outside world in.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: That's essentially, that's a habit, right?
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: And that's a very strong habit that we have here in society.
- 11:08So the more you're able to take that power back and really like
- 11:12know that,
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: wait,
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: no matter what's going on outside of me,
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: I can control my attitude.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I can control my mindset.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I can control my state.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: I can control my energy, right?
- 11:21You're going to move through life and you're going to move
- 11:22through business a lot
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: more peace and a lot more grace.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: And it's when you think about it,
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: when we're in school,
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: we are basically always comparing ourselves to each other.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: And maybe they've changed it.
- 11:36SPEAKER_01: I'm thinking back when I was in school,
- 11:38but there is competitions over who got the better grades or who
- 11:43made a team or who
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: didn't make a team who was pretty.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: And
- 11:48Being a kid's hard and it's very much like sizing yourself up
- 11:51to everyone else.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: In a lot of ways, school is oriented to do just that, the competition.
- 11:57But then when you get into the business or real world or
- 12:03whatever you want to call
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: it,
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: you basically have to,
- 12:05SPEAKER_01: like you mentioned,
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: deprogramming a little bit,
- 12:08deprogram yourself from that kind of routine because life isn't
- 12:13like it is in
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: school.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: You're not...
- 12:15It doesn't matter like who gets the best grades or who's on the
- 12:18team or whatever.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: It's about you and your happiness and your success.
- 12:22And so for lawyers or anyone who goes to school for a really
- 12:25long time,
- 12:26it is so competitive.
- 12:27And even the grownups who run businesses are susceptible to
- 12:31like fear of missing
- 12:32SPEAKER_01: out and like copying the market and not copying,
- 12:35but like wanting to do the marketing that their competitors are
- 12:38doing or why do
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: they have more cases than I do or something like that.
- 12:41SPEAKER_01: At least from the marketing perspective, that's what I see.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: Every business owner falls into a trap of comparison to some extent.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: Some like really let it control them.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: Others I noticed like they can use that as fuel and inspiration.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: I think most fall in the middle.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: And not trying to make this about marketing, but like,
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: when a business is good at marketing,
- 13:04or that doesn't necessarily mean that they're successful kind
- 13:07of under the hood.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: And just with an individual,
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: they can take to themselves to Facebook every day,
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: post a selfie,
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: look good,
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: say something fun,
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: inspirational,
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: and get lots of engagement.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: But you know,
- 13:21behind facebook their life's a wreck and they're putting on a
- 13:23good front and
- 13:24marketing can be that way and so if you compare yourself to
- 13:27another business's
- 13:28marketing and think oh they're just doing so well they're
- 13:30growing so fast a lot of
- 13:31that just might be you're just you're buying into the marketing
- 13:34that they are
- 13:35successful and so it's so easy to like fall in the trap because
- 13:39like literally as
- 13:39marketers we're engineering that kind of we want people to see
- 13:44our marketing and
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: like it and want to copy it and all that stuff
- 13:47Well,
- 13:48I think the world's craving more authenticity and even
- 13:50marketing,
- 13:50right?
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: And I mean,
- 13:52I look at the last couple people that I've hired and it's
- 13:56really like the energy
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: speaks more than their marketing.
- 13:59Like I really like look into who they are and like all vibes,
- 14:03like vibe checks,
- 14:04right?
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: Like trusting my intuition more so.
- 14:06And I feel like because of social media and because of
- 14:09technology that we have now,
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: the more people I talk to, that's what they're looking for, right?
- 14:14Like,
- 14:14I'm not going to hire someone and ask them,
- 14:16like,
- 14:16what's your educational background?
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: I don't need your resume.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: It's like,
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: I'm going to look at the work you've done,
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: the clients you've worked with,
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: and then do a vibe check.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, and if we vibe, then I'm good, right?
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: So it's just interesting.
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: I feel like
- 14:28we do business in different ways but when you're stuck in that
- 14:31trap of comparison
- 14:32it's like it's you're already losing that authenticity so it
- 14:35like starts with
- 14:36figuring out like well who you are and how do you want to show
- 14:38up what do you want
- 14:38your brand to say like what are your values how do you want to
- 14:41communicate that i
- 14:42always tell my clients it's like it's yes you're going to be
- 14:45doing action in your
- 14:46business because there's always going to be the like the doing
- 14:48stuff i always do
- 14:49this like the keyboard like there's always going to be the
- 14:51doing in business
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: But when you set your energy before you start the doing,
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: like when you're really like intentional about that,
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: it's going to come out differently.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: Like everything's energy.
- 15:01So a lot of the work that I do is help people center that
- 15:04energy so that like when
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: you're doing lead generation,
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: when you're doing marketing,
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: when you're out networking,
- 15:09like you can align that vibe with who you are and what you want
- 15:13to attract.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: I mean, happiness attracts happiness.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: And well,
- 15:20in the same way that the reason I have to kind of force myself
- 15:24to smile is because
- 15:24SPEAKER_01: I have a resting bitch face.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: And I hope I don't get censored for that.
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: But I walk around and I'm like,
- 15:30And people don't come up and talk to me like people are walking
- 15:33up and talking to
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: me when I put on a light smile and I become more approachable.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: And I mean, that's the basic example.
- 15:39But like,
- 15:40if you approach like what you do with happiness,
- 15:44like you are happy.
- 15:46SPEAKER_01: Your work's going to be,
- 15:47SPEAKER_01: and it's just going to attract,
- 15:48SPEAKER_01: I guess,
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: just to get woo-woo about it again.
- 15:51I do have a question I'm eager to ask,
- 15:53and I don't know if you'll be able to answer.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: Are your demographics pretty split between men and women?
- 15:58SPEAKER_01: Have you worked with both before?
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: I've worked with both.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: It ebbs and flows.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Right now, I'm like 95% women.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: that I'm working with.
- 16:09There's been,
- 16:10I would say my split is,
- 16:13I don't think it's ever been more than like 75-25.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: So I do tend to attract more women in.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: I love working.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: Honestly, I love working with men.
- 16:24I think too,
- 16:24especially like bringing some of this mindset stuff and the
- 16:27values work.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: So I find working on values and vision,
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: like it aligns with women more and men are like,
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: they're a little bit more in their masculine energy,
- 16:37SPEAKER_00: right?
- 16:38So getting them to kind of break free from that,
- 16:40it's a really cool process.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: It's incredibly rewarding, especially when
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Like, I always celebrate my clients wins, right?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Because that's why I do what I do.
- 16:50But it's like when I have my male clients being like,
- 16:53I'm actually,
- 16:54yeah,
- 16:54business is great.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: And I'm being the father that I want to be.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: That is what, like, I just got goosebumps saying that.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: Because this is what it's about, right?
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: life's not about business.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: It's about who we are and how we get to experience that.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: So I find for like, for women, they're more like tapped into that.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: But for men,
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: like I got to kind of break free,
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: break through some,
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: some old,
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: old male programming and patterning to get that in.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And it's just, it's a really, it's really, really special.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: And
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: The cool thing about,
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: so I'm a business mindset coach,
- 17:24but the cool thing about the work that I do is how it ripples
- 17:27out into like their
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: family and personal life and men or women.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And like, for me, that's what it's all about.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: We had a, like a health scare.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: My son was diagnosed with cancer when he was two.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Oh my God.
- 17:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah,
- 17:41he went through two years of intense chemotherapy and he
- 17:45actually finished last
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: September.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: So just over a year ago, finished treatment.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: He's doing fantastic.
- 17:51But things like that happen and you're reminded of like what
- 17:54actually matters.
- 17:55And that's where really my business has started to shift from
- 17:59that experience to
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: helping people realign with that because like,
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: yeah.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: I get to grow a super successful business,
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: but I also get to be the mom and wife and person that I want to be.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: And I can do it all in a way that just like feels really good.
- 18:13And I think sometimes it takes those moments to shake us out
- 18:17and remind us of like,
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: what are we really here and why?
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: I mean, in my personal experience, like growth comes in, it's,
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: Like a slow march and then like sudden revelations.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Like there's always progress,
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: like a little bit of it,
- 18:37SPEAKER_01: but it's those like big moments where all of a sudden,
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: like you realize like,
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: oh shoot,
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: I need to start doing this or I need to stop doing this or I need,
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think of examples.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Like all of a sudden, like your life is changed.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: I mean,
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: even something as simple as like,
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: I used to have a milk subscription and this sounds really stupid,
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: but I used to have a milk subscription.
- 18:56that I paid for farm fresh milk each month and I literally
- 19:00drove down the road to
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: the farm to get it.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: And it's not that far,
- 19:05but it was far enough that it was like an out of my way that it
- 19:08was like a chore,
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: like a mental chore.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: I had to plan to go get it.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: I had to clean the bottles.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: I had to do all this.
- 19:15SPEAKER_01: And like,
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: again,
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: this sounds so stupid and minor,
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: but I was just like,
- 19:18SPEAKER_01: the milk is great,
- 19:19but I'm just going to cancel it because like the mental burden
- 19:22of that trip
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: It's like it was way more than what it was worth.
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: And I mean,
- 19:28that's like it was like three months of me like contemplating
- 19:32canceling it and
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: canceling it.
- 19:33And all of a sudden I feel like my life's like 10 percent
- 19:37better because I just
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: don't have to worry about that one thing.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: And I mean, I'm sure you're, you know, God.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah,
- 19:42I was just gonna say what you're saying is so interesting
- 19:44because this is something
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: that I coach on is decision making.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: Because like it's and this is your example is actually perfect,
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: because what I find,
- 19:51especially with with business owners is like there's decisions
- 19:55that it's like,
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: oh,
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: yeah,
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: these are the pros and cons list.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: But so we sit in a state of indecision.
- 20:01So like I think you said it took you three months to actually
- 20:04cancel that.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: And yeah, life's 10 percent better.
- 20:05SPEAKER_00: But.
- 20:06Think of in that three month period of time,
- 20:08like how much energy you gave to the milk.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Like,
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: you know,
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: even before you were actually going to pick up the milk,
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: you were probably thinking about having to pick up your dreading.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Like the amount of energy that we spend in this state of indecision,
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: which is actually in between the two decisions,
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: like the decision to do it and then actually doing it,
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: actually canceling it.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: we waste so much energy.
- 20:30So like learning how to shorten that time span so we can make
- 20:34decisions quicker.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Like this is how you,
- 20:37this is how you work smarter and not harder because you're
- 20:39actually really
- 20:40SPEAKER_00: intentional of what you're using your energy on.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: We,
- 20:44waste so much time and energy on things that don't actually
- 20:47matter and don't
- 20:47actually move our business forward so it's like learning how to
- 20:50like okay how do i
- 20:51just cut these things out so that i can keep doing the things
- 20:53that i want to do in
- 20:54the way that i want to do them i have a workshop coming out i
- 20:58did it in the spring
- 20:59and it's i'm gonna like launch it as a digital product but it's
- 21:02a workshop of
- 21:03SPEAKER_00: overcoming self-sabotage because we all do it we all sabotage ourselves
- 21:07SPEAKER_00: starting to understand like, okay, how do I stop sabotaging myself?
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: Because again,
- 21:12it's that same energy that we use in between like the actual
- 21:16doing the thing so
- 21:17that I can actually achieve my goal with more ease and more
- 21:20peace and more joy and
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: not spend so much energy thinking about canceling the damn milk,
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: right?
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's I mean, you're so right.
- 21:32Like,
- 21:33and it's so funny,
- 21:34because you look back and you're like,
- 21:36why did I wait?
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Like, why did I?
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: And but like, the human mind is so interesting.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: Like,
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: I mean,
- 21:44SPEAKER_01: stating the obvious,
- 21:45but there are just like so many layers of things sometimes like
- 21:50keeping us from
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: like,
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: just doing it or just like,
- 21:54SPEAKER_01: taking the risk or making the decision.
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it's easy.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Sometimes it's like canceling a milk subscription, right?
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: But sometimes like you're really grappling with like,
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: I don't want to say values,
- 22:07but maybe like things that you've learned that you need to
- 22:11unlearn about whatever
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: business life,
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: because you learn,
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: you pick up good and bad lessons over the years.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: And like, sometimes it's hard to know, like,
- 22:21What are the things that you're doing that are helping you or
- 22:24what are the things
- 22:25or mindsets that are actually like holding you back and like
- 22:29keeping you from
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: achieving like what you're meant to achieve?
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: I say like 92% of our behavior comes from our subconscious mind too.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: And it's all like, so, you know, we have default settings.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: We have just this habitual way of being.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we'll be like, I don't know why I'm like that.
- 22:46And it's all ideas that are essentially like programmed into
- 22:49our subconscious mind.
- 22:50So the mind is so interesting because we actually,
- 22:53it's subconscious,
- 22:54it's unconscious.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: Like we don't know what's in there.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: So most of the time we're walking around,
- 23:00like not even really truly understanding ourselves or why we do
- 23:03the things that we
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: do,
- 23:03SPEAKER_00: which I find like so fascinating.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that is really interesting to think about.
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: Because I mean,
- 23:09SPEAKER_01: I feel like I know myself,
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: but also like,
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: and I call it autopilot,
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: but have those like autopilot moments where it's just like,
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: what am I doing?
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: Like,
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: and I mean,
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: for me,
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: like,
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: mercifully,
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: it's not as I've gotten older,
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: like fewer kind of autopilot moments,
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: I guess.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: But like, I guess it's true.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Like, a lot of like, you don't really...
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: You, we don't really know ourselves.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: And a lot of things that we do are driven by emotions, stimuli, hormones.
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Exist experiences, expectations, like trauma.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, trauma.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: I was thinking the other day,
- 23:51because I was contemplating like why it's so hard to like reach
- 23:54out for me,
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: like I'm talking about me,
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: so hard for me to reach out and do networking,
- 24:00SPEAKER_01: like just to show up and say like,
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Hey,
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: how are you and just show up in somebody's life.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: And I was thinking about I had a really long like car ride the other day.
- 24:07SPEAKER_01: And I was like,
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: I think it's probably related to like,
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: when I was a kid,
- 24:12I invited myself over to a friend's house and I got really
- 24:17scolded for it.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: And like I never quite forgot that.
- 24:21And like to this day,
- 24:23like I still feel like weird about like inserting myself.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: And I mean, honestly, it's probably good advice.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: Like you really shouldn't invite yourself over.
- 24:32But because an adult came down on me is like,
- 24:34that's something you should never do.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Like it just kind of like we've been talking about programming,
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: program me not to be like that or to try not to do stuff like that.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Just simply that one experience right into your subconscious mind.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: So like so many things come from that.
- 24:49I use the same when I first started my own business because
- 24:53like I'm in business,
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: I'm in sales,
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: right?
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: I need to sell, I need to reach out, do all of these things.
- 24:57SPEAKER_00: It was COVID.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: So you're in people's DMs.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: Like that's how you had to grow a business then.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: There was no networking.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: And I really struggled with that.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: And I had to peel that thread back.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: And I remembered when I was growing up,
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: my mom would always have something to say after a telemarketer called.
- 25:15So anytime I went to reach out to someone,
- 25:17it's like,
- 25:17well,
- 25:17I don't want to bother them.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: That was just my...
- 25:21SPEAKER_00: But so I had to change that story.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: It's like, I'm not bothering people.
- 25:24I'm providing a service,
- 25:25like,
- 25:26you know,
- 25:27and there's nothing personal,
- 25:28right?
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: Like, it just really learning how to shift those habits.
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: But it wasn't the actual habit and the thing of reaching out.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: It was actually the idea behind the things.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: Same thing with you.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: It's the idea behind placing yourselves in these environments that...
- 25:42feel uncomfortable because everything goes filtered through
- 25:45that one experience.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: Like we have our conscious mind's great.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: It can think,
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: it can originate ideas,
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: it can accept ideas,
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: it can reject ideas,
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: but our subconscious mind can only accept ideas.
- 25:56So those experiences end up getting accepted into our
- 25:59subconscious mind as like an
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: idea,
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: belief,
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: behavior,
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: or paradigm as I call them.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: And then everything else gets filtered through.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: So we start to think new thoughts or start to,
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: oh,
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: I'm going to go out and network and build my business.
- 26:12Well,
- 26:12that idea then gets filtered through that experience in your
- 26:16subconscious mind.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: You talk yourself out of it.
- 26:22Well,
- 26:22just to reference marketing,
- 26:24because that's where my mind's at a lot of times.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: I feel like specifically attorneys have this,
- 26:30SPEAKER_01: and maybe it's just most business owners,
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: have this allergy to promoting themselves,
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: right?
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 26:37And it takes a lot of audacity to like put yourself out there
- 26:41and say like,
- 26:41you're great.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Come give me money.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: Like it does take like a lot of courage and a lot of audacity.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: And I think lawyers have been taught specifically not to do that,
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: but to stay humble,
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: do good work in the cases will come that all that good stuff.
- 26:59And you have to learn like when the advice you got was good
- 27:03advice or bad advice.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: And when it comes to marketing and growing a business,
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: like that's just something like you,
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: you kind of have to get past is like,
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: yeah,
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: I'm putting myself out there.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: I'm promoting myself.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: I feel that way about Facebook sometimes.
- 27:19SPEAKER_01: And maybe it's because I judge other people.
- 27:21SPEAKER_01: That's my problem.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: Somebody posts a selfie on Facebook and I'm just like, eh.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: But now it's so hard for me to post selfies on social media.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: I feel terrible when I do it.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: And it's just something I got to get past.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: And it's because...
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: I'm a millennial,
- 27:36SPEAKER_01: like where I'm,
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure if you are too,
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: but like posting like photos and taking selfies.
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: Like I remember a time when that was like a faux pas,
- 27:45SPEAKER_01: like you didn't want to get caught doing that,
- 27:46SPEAKER_01: but you know,
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: now it's completely different.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, absolutely.
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 27:53SPEAKER_01: Well, we're coming up kind of close to the end of our time.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: Just got two more questions we're going to go through.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: So first we went through a lot and I really appreciate,
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: I mean,
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: this is,
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: I usually talk to marketers,
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: so this is very different and very intriguing.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: Although I don't feel like that's a good word,
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: but I'll have a lot to think about later basically.
- 28:13But is there anything that we didn't go over that you wanted to
- 28:16talk about on this podcast?
- 28:18Yeah,
- 28:18talking about like the subconscious mind and how we see
- 28:21ourselves,
- 28:22right?
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Because we like form judgments and things where we see ourselves.
- 28:25So we actually have like a self image and a self perception
- 28:27that we hold in our
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: subconscious mind.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: And this is across the board,
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: like,
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: it doesn't matter how much education you have,
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: like,
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: it doesn't matter what work you do.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: you have this subconscious image.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: And the truth is you can't actually outperform that image that you hold.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: So this is where like,
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: until you start changing that image,
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: this is why people are afraid to be visible.
- 28:46SPEAKER_00: This is why people are afraid to be seen.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: This is why people are afraid to,
- 28:49they're afraid to show up confidently because they actually
- 28:52think they're going to
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: be cocky because that's the judgment.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: Like, so it's all of these things.
- 28:56So once you start to change your subconscious imaging that you
- 28:59hold of yourself,
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: and I'm not talking about like how you
- 29:03like look in the mirror like I'm literally talking about how
- 29:06you think how you feel
- 29:07how you move that's when things start to shift so it's like
- 29:11it's so much deeper
- 29:12than just doing the work to build your business it's actually
- 29:16like becoming the
- 29:17person who has that alignment and that confidence to do the
- 29:21work and show up in
- 29:22like an authentic way and yeah I just thought that was
- 29:25something to touch on and
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: maybe some more food for thought for you and your listeners today too
- 29:31And I really liked what you said about the subconscious can
- 29:34only receive like,
- 29:35SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I've heard that before.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: But I mean,
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: I that's that's honestly like,
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: I don't think feel like I ever thought about it like that.
- 29:41SPEAKER_01: And that's just so true.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: So where do you want people to go look you up, learn more about you?
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm on all the socials, Instagram and LinkedIn for business.
- 29:51So I'm at the Kaylee Kennedy on Instagram or just Kaylee

- 30:01launching right now
- 30:02too for helping people reprogram their subconscious mind and
- 30:06just build a life that
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: feels really good and achieving that success that's like inner and outer.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: It's like we want both and it's okay to want both.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Well,
- 30:17if you want this kind of change that we've talked about here on
- 30:20the show in your
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: life,
