- 0:08When an avoidant wants to come back, they're not just going to
- 0:11show up at your door or tell you directly.
- 0:15That's because avoidance are prideful, cautious, and careful,
- 0:20so they're going to test you in quiet, strategic ways.
- 0:24With avoidance, it's always about strategy and you won't
- 0:28even know that you're being tested.
- 0:31The tests are meant to reassure them that if they do come back,
- 0:35they're not going to lose themselves again.
- 0:37So today I'm going to discuss the three tests that your
- 0:41avoidant ex will use before coming back and how to make sure
- 0:46that you do not fail them. So stay tuned.
- 0:49But first, welcome back to my beautiful no contact Army.
- 0:53This is the general of the No Contact Army, Lucia with the art
- 0:57of love. And have you been a good little
- 1:00soldier? If you have, then you've
- 1:01downloaded my app Silencio to help you stay in No contact.
- 1:05The link to that is underneath every single video and podcast.
- 1:08And if you too would like to join our army, all you have to
- 1:11do is hit the subscribe button and the bell notification and
- 1:15you're in. And to read our manual, go to
- 1:17nocontactsecrets.com where you can read 2 free chapters before
- 1:22you purchase the book. So before I tell you what the
- 1:25three tests are, I want to talk about why avoidance even test
- 1:29you in the 1st place. So they're not testing you
- 1:32because they're cruel or they want to hurt you.
- 1:35They're doing it because they're scared of needing someone.
- 1:39They're terrified of being seen and rejected and of losing
- 1:42control of their emotions. So every move that they make
- 1:46during this stage is an attempt to see whether you can handle
- 1:50their fears. And if you can, you're actually
- 1:52going to help rewire their nervous system to see that love
- 1:56can actually feel safe. So the tests aren't about power,
- 2:00they're about safety. Without knowing it, they're
- 2:03actually looking for a stable anchor since their childhood was
- 2:07so unstable. So the first Test is that
- 2:12they'll want to see if you're still emotionally available for
- 2:15them without risking rejection. They want to know if you're
- 2:19still waiting and if you've been affected by the silence.
- 2:24They want to confirm that you haven't moved on so that they
- 2:27can feel safe that you're still there as an option.
- 2:30As usual, the best way to pass this test is to do absolutely
- 2:35nothing. Don't chase them.
- 2:39Don't post anything that they could think is aimed at them.
- 2:42Don't start liking their posts back when they start liking
- 2:45yours. That is not how you're going to
- 2:49get them back. Avoidance want both emotional
- 2:53safety and challenge. And most of y'all you just give
- 2:57emotional safety without the challenge.
- 3:00They need both. So when you don't jump just
- 3:03because all of a sudden they pop back up, they'll question the
- 3:07story they had told themselves that you would always be there.
- 3:11And that's when they're anxious sidekicks in, if they're a
- 3:15fearful avoidant or an anxious avoidant, and they'll wonder if
- 3:19they lost you for good. And that fear is what ignites
- 3:23their pursuit. So you pass the first Test by
- 3:27doing nothing through silence and self respect.
- 3:31The next test is the vulnerability test.
- 3:34Once they see that you're calm and you're not chasing them and
- 3:37I'm talking to you guys with an anxious attachment style,
- 3:41they'll send a surface level text such as how have you been
- 3:45doing? What they're doing is gauging
- 3:48your energy. They're looking for emotional
- 3:51clues. Are you mad cold, super excited
- 3:55to hear from them. If you're angry or needy,
- 3:59they're going to back away. If they sense that it's OK,
- 4:03they'll share something a bit deeper like I've been thinking a
- 4:08lot about the past or I missed you.
- 4:11And if you rush in to reassure them by saying something like,
- 4:16well, we could have made it work, or I miss you too, believe
- 4:20it or not, they're going to feel pressured.
- 4:23So you want to respond with something like, well, what have
- 4:26you been thinking? And this works because it's
- 4:29neutral but curious. You're not cold, but you're also
- 4:34not giving them emotional reassurance.
- 4:37And that forces them to clarify their intent.
- 4:41You're not matching their vulnerability or nostalgia that
- 4:45way. If they're fishing for
- 4:48validation, they're going to stay vague and just say oh
- 4:52memories. If they're more introspective,
- 4:56they'll open up and say something like, well I realize I
- 4:59didn't handle things right. Either way, you get information
- 5:03without giving up power. If they say I miss you, it could
- 5:07mean several things. It could mean I'm lonely and
- 5:10need comfort. I miss how you made me feel or
- 5:14I've reflected and actually want to rebuild.
- 5:19And you can respond with, well, what is it exactly that you
- 5:22missed? And if they say you, you can
- 5:25follow up with what about me? Are they going to say something
- 5:29emotionally lazy like your smile or emotionally accountable, like
- 5:35the way you made me feel safe even when I didn't deserve it.
- 5:38So you'll basically know which version of them you're dealing
- 5:41with and you can respond with I miss the good parts too, but
- 5:46that alone doesn't fix what went wrong.
- 5:49That way you acknowledge their emotion, but you're keeping
- 5:53reality front and center. And absolutely do not respond
- 5:58with I miss you too because now you're rewarding nostalgia
- 6:03instead of accountability. And don't ask why because that
- 6:07puts you into the interrogator role and that will trigger their
- 6:11defensiveness. When an avoidance says I miss
- 6:14you, that is not the finish line.
- 6:16It's a test. So your goal is to respond in a
- 6:20way that makes them reveal their intentions.
- 6:23If they can go deeper, there's potential.
- 6:26If they stay surface level, you've got your answer without
- 6:29giving anything away. So with this test, they're
- 6:32subconsciously checking if they can be open with you without
- 6:35feeling trapped. The more composed you are and
- 6:39show emotional self-control, the more their defenses melt.
- 6:44When you show that you can handle closeness without
- 6:47creating chaos, then they can't help but feel closer because
- 6:51they feel safe with you. So this test is passed through
- 6:56emotional composure and the last Test is reconnection.
- 7:03They'll want to keep in touch and meet up, but they're not
- 7:06going to come right out and say that they want to get back
- 7:08together. And this is their way of
- 7:10cautiously checking to see if you're going to trigger them
- 7:13again. So during this test, they're
- 7:17looking to see how you react to inconsistency.
- 7:21And if you hadn't already figured it out, avoidance are
- 7:25not consistent, especially fearful avoidant.
- 7:29So the key to dealing with an avoidant is to understand this.
- 7:33That way you won't be thrown off with the hot and cold and the
- 7:36push and pull. And if anything, you'll come to
- 7:39expect it. So during this test, if you're
- 7:42demanding clarity or asking a lot of questions, you're going
- 7:47to fail the test. You disarm their fear by staying
- 7:51calm and grounded, which is often hard to do if you have an
- 7:55anxious attachment style. Which is why I always suggest
- 7:58that if you're in no contact with an avoidant, you should be
- 8:02working on yourself. And I always suggest the book
- 8:05Anxiously Attached, and the link to that is underneath this
- 8:07video. So something amazing happens
- 8:12when you pass all three tests. The avoidance stops pulling
- 8:17away. Hallelujah, stops being hot and
- 8:21cold. Because the number one thing
- 8:23avoidance need and want is someone who's consistent.
- 8:28Yes, I know, even though they're not consistent.
- 8:31So avoidance. Don't believe promises, they
- 8:33believe patterns. When you consistently show that
- 8:38you can remain calm, have emotional mastery, and can love
- 8:42them without losing yourself, they'll realize your loved won't
- 8:46threaten their freedom. And they'll understand that
- 8:48committing to you means that they finally found the peace
- 8:52that they've been so desperately looking for.
- 8:55And if you're one of those people who wants to make a
- 8:57snarky remark in the comments such as oh this is too much
- 9:02work, avoid the avoidance run from these people, then go away
- 9:08and stop watching videos on getting an avoidant X back.
- 9:12If you're so done with them as you would like to have us all
- 9:17believe, then why are you taking the time to not only watch a
- 9:21video on avoidance, but to also leave a negative comment about
- 9:25them? So go away and date an anxious
- 9:29or secure. If you don't want to have
- 9:32emotional mastery then you should not date an avoidant.
- 9:36OK so now I want to hear from the rest of you.
- 9:40Has your ex tried any of these tests on you and what happened?
