- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi. It's Adam here now in this
- 0:41hypnosis session. It's all about calming bladder
- 0:46sensations now. This might be a desire to pee if
- 0:50you don't really need to. Pee or a?
- 0:52Feeling of discomfort but if you have any of these recurring
- 0:57thoughts and sensations, they can be quite intrusive and
- 1:03sometimes they don't go away It's almost like if you have an
- 1:06itch and no matter how many itch how many times you scratch it,
- 1:09the. Itch is still.
- 1:10There, just imagine that in your bladder.
- 1:12That would take a lot of your thinking time and be quite
- 1:15frustrating, quite annoying. And the client I was working
- 1:18with had that and they had it all checked out.
- 1:20They'd seen urologist, they'd had lots of tests.
- 1:23There was nothing actually wrong with their bladder, but their
- 1:26mind would keep taking them to that place.
- 1:29And therefore this hypnosis session deals with two key
- 1:33things. One, easing the sensations in
- 1:36the bladder, almost treating it like a fire alarm that is now
- 1:41going off when there is no actual fire.
- 1:43It's just a false alarm. And then secondly, dealing with
- 1:47the root cause of health anxieties, because sometimes
- 1:52people get themselves in loops where they think, what if
- 1:54something's wrong? What if I'm sick?
- 1:56What if I need to go to the toilet?
- 1:58And it just kind of plays like this.
- 1:59Kind of loop. So it's designed to help with
- 2:02those things. Now, if you do have a bladder
- 2:05sensation, this session is going to be more useful.
- 2:08But if you have any health anxieties, the structural root
- 2:12cause, the metaphors in this still may be useful.
- 2:16And if you like the idea of a bespoke session for you and your
- 2:19individual circumstances, there will be a link in the
- 2:22description or on my website, adamcox.co.uk, where you can
- 2:26book a completely free consultation call.
- 2:28We'll have a chat over Zoom and who knows, we might start
- 2:31working together directly rather than just listening to my
- 2:34recordings. For now, though, find a quiet,
- 2:37comfortable place where you won't be.
- 2:38Distracted or disturbed? Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:09Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:19resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 3:24And as you exhale, give permission to release any
- 3:34thoughts, any worries, echoes of tension.
- 3:41Just allow it to release and feel it release in that outward
- 3:46breath, breathing in a feeling of relaxation and releasing any
- 3:56tension. Just allow the outward breath to
- 4:02carry on for longer than it normally would until your lungs
- 4:08are completely empty. Then as you breathe in, feel
- 4:15like you're breathing in from your belly, not your chest.
- 4:23That's it. Feel like you're breathing in
- 4:28fully and the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you
- 4:35feel. And the more relaxed you feel
- 4:42the deeper you breathe. As your body relaxes, your
- 4:48imagination awakens. Eyelids getting heavier, jaw
- 4:56getting loose. Just feel a sense of tension
- 5:01melting away from your body. And I want you to think back to
- 5:08a memory perhaps seven or eight years ago on a visit to New
- 5:16York. And I want you to imagine
- 5:20observing a version of you in your memory walking around the
- 5:29lake in Central Park. And I don't know if you're
- 5:38observing yourself from the perspective of a stranger who
- 5:43just happened to be there, or if it feels like you're a floating
- 5:49TV camera following you around and just observing.
- 5:56I'm just wondering what you notice about that version of
- 6:01you. And we need to get a sense that
- 6:07that version of you had a different connection and
- 6:16observation of their bladder, That version of you.
- 6:24We're thinking less and focusing less, just a particular part of
- 6:33your body. And I wonder if you can feel a
- 6:41sense of connection with that version of you, a version of you
- 6:47that had more of that perception of normality, that there were
- 7:02absolutely sensations in your bladder, but they were low level
- 7:09sensations. If you needed to go to the
- 7:15toilet, you did. And if a sensation came up, it
- 7:20was brief before becoming background noise, you to imagine
- 7:28perhaps seeing you, perhaps on a bridge or a path nearby the
- 7:35lake. And I want you to imagine
- 7:42pausing time, almost like everyone in Central Park is
- 7:49paused except you. And just imagine floating into
- 7:58that version of you feel what it would feel like to have that
- 8:08very low, no sensation in your bladder.
- 8:15Instead, focus on the ripples in the water of the lake, perhaps
- 8:25the trees surrounding the lake, maybe the skyline of
- 8:31skyscrapers. They're off into the distance
- 8:40and just connect with that feeling.
- 8:44Feeling of being comfortable and relaxed in your own body.
- 8:56I want you to imagine while everyone else there is paused,
- 9:00frozen in time, you can use this time to just relax, reflect and
- 9:12connect. And perhaps you could imagine
- 9:21doing something that you get to do in this moment.
- 9:30Maybe you could feel like a child and climb a tree.
- 9:37Or perhaps you could imagine finding a small boat and just
- 9:47going out there in the middle of that lake.
- 9:51Or perhaps finding a bench and just sitting and connecting with
- 9:57yourself. That's it.
- 10:02Because in this moment, in your imagination, there's nothing you
- 10:08need to do and nothing. Nothing you should be doing
- 10:16either. Nothing needs fixing, and
- 10:23nothing thing needs watching. Just allow your nervous system
- 10:29to come down a notch and there in Central Park, find that deep
- 10:38natural rhythm and imagine your awareness gently widening, as if
- 10:47your attention no longer needs to zoom in on one area, as you
- 10:55start to believe that sensations are simply messages, and not all
- 11:04messages are urgent. And you can recall a time when
- 11:13there was a fire alarm with no fire, a smoke alarm with no
- 11:18smoke, perhaps even an alarm clock set to the wrong time as
- 11:28you accept an irrefutable truth that not all alarms are accurate
- 11:37or useful. Some alarms were installed for
- 11:44past conditions and simply haven't been updated yet.
- 11:52And you know that's true because there would have been a time
- 11:57where you set an alarm to wake you up, and it did on one day,
- 12:05but the alarm continued on a day when you didn't need waking up
- 12:10at that time. And what if certain sensation
- 12:18that you've been feeling we're a protective alarm to make sure
- 12:27that you get things checked out, to make sure that you're safe?
- 12:35What could have been useful for one moment in time then becomes
- 12:41annoying, frustrating, or just irrelevant at a different point
- 12:50in time. Take your awareness and look for
- 12:58a part within you, because I think somewhere inside you is a
- 13:05protective part, like a system designed to keep you safe.
- 13:15And maybe this part. Learn something important
- 13:26connected to someone important to you.
- 13:35Perhaps there was someone that because of a medical issue, it
- 13:41did affect their bladder, maybe an enlarged prostate.
- 13:48And that would makes sense that that protective part knows that
- 13:55those early warning signals can mean that something gets checked
- 14:01out that if left unresolved could lead to a bigger problem.
- 14:09And I want you to thank that part, because that kind of
- 14:13vigilance once made sense. Communicate with it directly.
- 14:21Tell it thank you for trying to protect me.
- 14:29And that part isn't broken. It's simply running an old
- 14:37pattern that could have been useful once, but is no longer
- 14:43useful now. Just like that smoke alarm that
- 14:50goes off when toast is burned, not when there's a fire in the
- 14:54house. Loud, convincing, but not
- 14:58dangerous. well-intentioned, but unnecessary.
- 15:09And if there's a protective part trying to keep you safe, there
- 15:14is a part also within that knows now knows that you've already
- 15:25checked for any problems. You now know it's not helping.
- 15:35In fact, it's contributing to more stress and more worries and
- 15:41more thinking. I want you to get a sense of
- 15:49that alarm you set that was useful once, but if it kept
- 15:53going off at that same time every day for three years, you
- 16:00might wonder if that alarm is ever going to turn off.
- 16:07There is a wise part within you that knows that you have been
- 16:10checked. We've ruled out serious causes
- 16:14of problems and that part knows that these sensations fluctuate.
- 16:22It's not constant, and if it can change then it means it's not
- 16:30permanent. That wise part knows that
- 16:37there's been times where it's felt unnoticeable.
- 16:44A zero or one on that scale of 1 to 10 and this Y is apart.
- 16:52And communicate directly with your alarm system directly,
- 17:01telling it thank you but you don't need to work this hard
- 17:07anymore. What if the alarm doesn't need
- 17:12to be switched off? Just turn down to a very low
- 17:18volume. Because that alarm that goes off
- 17:25at a level 10 is annoying. Frustrating, but if the volume
- 17:31was a level 1, it just becomes insignificant background noise.
- 17:44It's a start to imagine that sensation has a volume dial, not
- 17:53an on off switch, and that can feel true to you.
- 17:59There's been moments that it felt like a Nine or A10, and
- 18:04other days like A1 or A2, like a dimmer switch rather than just
- 18:11an on or an off switch. So whether you think about it as
- 18:17a volume dial or a dimmer switch, notice something that
- 18:23could be useful? That when you try to force the
- 18:29dial down, it often makes it stick or jump back to the
- 18:37previous setting. But what if curiosity, allowing
- 18:45and gentle distance turns that dial down naturally?
- 18:54Some people call it the law of reverse effect.
- 18:59The harder you try, the more elusive it becomes.
- 19:04But when you don't try at all, it turns down all by itself.
- 19:11So instead of fighting the sensation, trying to analyse it,
- 19:16control it, you allow it to be there, you give it permission.
- 19:26And as you give it permission and acceptance, what if you
- 19:32notice that? The volume or the dimmer switch
- 19:36naturally all by itself, intuitively dials down
- 19:45incrementally, one small notch at a time, That an 8 can go to a
- 19:537A7 can go to a 6A6 can go to A5, and A5 can go to a four.
- 20:06A4 can go to a three or A2 or A1 until it's hardly noticeable.
- 20:15Just like an itch somewhere on your body that you don't notice
- 20:20not because you controlled it, but because you stopped
- 20:24wrestling with it. Allow your unconscious to learn
- 20:36a concept, a technique, that if it returns to anything above A6
- 20:45or A7, name it neutrally. It's not a problem, and you can
- 21:02breathe into the space around it, there around your diaphragm,
- 21:08not into the bladder, but around it.
- 21:13You acknowledge it, don't aim to control it, and then just
- 21:19imagine that dimmer switch or that volume switch going down by
- 21:2710 or 20%. Because here's the interesting
- 21:32thing. If you accept it, relax around
- 21:38it, and imagine it dialing down 10%, then if you repeat that 10
- 21:47times, even the strongest sensation becomes negligible.
- 21:58There's something reassuring about knowing that if the
- 22:01sensation can move from an 8 to A7, it can also move from A7 to
- 22:07A5, and then from A5 to a 3A2 or A1.
- 22:16And you already know that this is possible because your body
- 22:22has done it before. But when your body did it
- 22:25before, notice how it didn't need you to do anything at all.
- 22:35Your body knows how to lower that intensity all by itself.
- 22:53Some people have seen one of those Chinese toys.
- 23:01They call them a finger trap. Put your finger in and if you
- 23:08try and force your finger out it gets stuck.
- 23:14But the harder you pull to escape the tighter it grips and
- 23:23the moment you soften, relax the trap loosens.
- 23:30Or think of the monkey trap. They put nuts or food there in a
- 23:40glass bottle or jar. If the monkey goes in, grips the
- 23:47food, the fish shape means they can't escape from the bottle or
- 23:53the jar, and sometimes all the monkey needs to do is to let go.
- 24:02Then it's free. But instead it holds on.
- 24:08It keeps being attached to something, and that keeps it
- 24:15trapped. And what if your bladder
- 24:21sensations work the same way? What if attention and checking
- 24:28and analyzing? What if all of these keep you
- 24:33attached on acceptance? Allowing and trusting allows you
- 24:39to release. And whether you imagine
- 24:45releasing from the finger trap or letting go of what's inside
- 24:50the bottle to be free of it, imagine your bladder doing the
- 24:54same. What if your body responds best
- 25:02to acknowledgement and acceptance rather than fixing?
- 25:11Allow an idea to take root deep in your mind.
- 25:15Your body is not your enemy. It isn't failing you.
- 25:21It's not punishing you. It's learning.
- 25:29What if each time you respond with a curious, calm
- 25:36acknowledgement and acceptance instead of control?
- 25:43What if the system slowly but surely starts to recalibrate?
- 25:52The alarm learns that you are safe.
- 25:56The signal fades faster and the baseline returns to normal.
- 26:07I want you to imagine you're still there in Central Park, but
- 26:15you are now there in your future.
- 26:19More than a year in your future. A year of your body letting go
- 26:27of unuseful attachments, a year of what ifs evolving from
- 26:37negative outcomes to positive outcomes.
- 26:42More than a year of those dimmer switches and volume switches
- 26:49dialing down the intensity. I want you to imagine then
- 26:58you're still there in Central Park, but now in the future.
- 27:05And I want you to imagine a future where it feels like
- 27:10you've had either low level or no level sensations in your
- 27:14bladder for more than a year. You have regained trust, a
- 27:21feeling of comfort. And I want you to imagine that
- 27:29in the past and in the future, this is no longer an issue.
- 27:37You notice something has changed.
- 27:41The sensations either rarely appear at all, or if they
- 27:48appear, it's briefly, quietly, and then just moves on, like an
- 27:55itch you notice that fades into background.
- 28:01Your mind no longer needs to race, analyze, catastrophize.
- 28:09No checking, no vigilance, no analysing.
- 28:13Feel what it would feel like to trust your body again.
- 28:21Bladder sensations return to the background where they belong,
- 28:28the exception only being a very full bladder as a gentle nudge
- 28:36for you to take a bathroom break.
- 28:41And I want you to imagine that future continues into day-to-day
- 28:47life. Imagine returning from New York
- 28:53into a regular pattern routine, and that normality returns with
- 28:59you and you can move through your day with ease, comfort and
- 29:04confidence, and your body remembers how to feel normal.
- 29:21imagine being in a room you know well, ABS lying down in a
- 29:29relaxed way, wondering what if things get better and better?
- 29:40And as you hold that thought, it's time to return.
- 29:45So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 29:52nose. Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle
- 29:57your toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the now.
- 30:04As I now count from one to 10. Two will waken you starting to
- 30:10count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8 open your eyes.
- 30:18Open your eyes. 910 wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
