- Jessica Figueroa: Yeah. Good morning, podcast listeners. I have the cutest story to share with you about my youngest daughter. One day I was sitting across the table from her and her hairline at her forehead looked funny. So I leaned in a little closer and I couldn't quite pick up on how it looked off. But then as I leaned closer, I noticed that there was a chunk of hair that was really short, like to the scalp short. So I asked her, I said, Did you cut your hair? But it was right at the crown, right at the and she said, Yes, I did. I said, I kind of chuckled. I said, Well, why did you cut this little piece of hair? And she said, Well, I was trying to part my hair down the middle, and that chunk of hair wouldn't go to the right or to the left. Wouldn't go on either side. So I cut it. I said, okay, solved that problem. I said, But did you consider that it's going to grow back? And then I saw the look on her face. She's eleven. And I watched her have the realization that this hair was not going to stay short forever. And then she said, Well, I'll just keep cutting it. I said, Okay, that's one great option as well. and this has grown out. She decided not to keep cutting it. But my favorite part of watching this little chunk of hair grow out is her decision-making skills are growing and she's learning. And most adults don't have great decision-making skills because decision-making skills take a lot of failure. And fear of failure is very serious. So most of us avoid making decisions because we're afraid of failing. But you take an 11-year-old with a chunk of hair that won't go the right direction. She's not afraid to fail. And as it's grown out, now it's about down to her eyeballs. Every time I see her, I think, might we all be bold enough to be willing to make decisions and fail? Because through those failures is how we learn. So just for today, we're going to make a decision, even though we're not sure how it's going to turn out. Because I think avoiding decision making comes because a lot of decisions we have to make aren't the good decision versus the bad decision. Sometimes we have to decide between two good things, or sometimes we have to decide between two bad things. If you've ever voted in a presidential election in the past 20 years, you might feel that pain, right? I have to make a decision between two choices and I don't like either of them. But a decision must be made. So today's just for today is about decision making. And sometimes you've just got to cut. the hair and learn the lesson afterwards. I love doing this with you guys, and I'll see you tomorrow.
