- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you'll be listening to a short hypnosis session
- 0:47created for a client that was struggling to try new foods.
- 0:52And they really wanted to broaden out the variety of foods
- 0:57that they were eating. They felt comfortable with
- 1:00certain foods and a lot of things like toast and certain
- 1:07snack bars. But they did find eating hot
- 1:11chips in, in England, we would call them chips.
- 1:15America might call them fries, but effectively hot chips was
- 1:19certain things that they were fine with.
- 1:22So you're going to hear an element of harnessing that state
- 1:27where they were kind of on autopilot, they kind of felt.
- 1:30It was easy to do. Because they've done it before.
- 1:33And then that's transferred into this idea of what if they just
- 1:37kind of noticed that they were trying something else
- 1:40accidentally and quite liked him.
- 1:43And it's kind of like this. Covert.
- 1:45Way to trick the mind into feeling like, yeah, it's only a
- 1:49big deal if it's made into a big deal.
- 1:52So this element of it's kind of like an easy thing to do and to
- 1:56catch the mind off guard. I think it's quite a good way.
- 1:59So if you have been called a fussy eater, if you struggle
- 2:04with certain foods, then you might get some value from this
- 2:06session. It's not very long, but it might
- 2:10just kind of help you recall a moment where you're totally fine
- 2:14eating foods and then that can map across to different food
- 2:16types. So find a quiet, comfortable
- 2:18place where you won't be disturbed, relax and enjoy the
- 2:22session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 2:56you breathe in, breathe in and slow, calm, relaxing breath.
- 3:04And as you exhale, just allow any feelings of tension, stress,
- 3:10or worries to feel like they're leaving your body in your
- 3:18outward breath. Just by breathing in and
- 3:24breathing out slower and deeper. Feel a sense of letting go,
- 3:37letting go of old ways of thinking and old habits that no
- 3:46longer serve you. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 3:51relaxed you become. As you position your body in a
- 3:56way to enable you to feel even deeper relaxed.
- 4:05Feel your arms getting heavier and heavier.
- 4:09You're breathing, becoming more relaxed, almost like you're
- 4:14sinking into a place of pure calmness.
- 4:21The deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become, and the more
- 4:27relaxed you become, the more your imagination awakens.
- 4:38And I want you to use the power of your imagination to remember
- 4:45a time when you were going out to.
- 4:49Get food. And maybe that was a time when
- 4:53you went to a local chip shop or a cafe not too far away.
- 5:04And I want you to observe yourself like you're seeing
- 5:07someone that looks like you almost see yourself on
- 5:15autopilot, like you're an invisible observer.
- 5:21See yourself as you wander in, make the order, wait for a bit
- 5:31and notice how relaxed, how calm.
- 5:37Notice how you breathe your posture.
- 5:43And then imagine waiting for the order, collecting it, and maybe
- 5:49eating a chip or two even before you leave.
- 5:58As you observe, you can't help but come to the conclusion that
- 6:04this is a version of you that has no problems eating when you
- 6:11feel comfortable, when you just accept.
- 6:18It's a natural, easy thing to do, and I want you to imagine
- 6:27rewinding it, see yourself arriving, and this time when the
- 6:35order arrives, there may be something slightly different.
- 6:42Perhaps instead of normal potatoes, it might be sweet
- 6:48potatoes, or a different root vegetable like parsnips, or
- 6:54something else. But I want you to see that when
- 6:59you eat it the same way, it's just as effortless.
- 7:06Imagine seeing yourself putting your hand perhaps in a bag,
- 7:11taking a bite, chewing and swallowing.
- 7:14It's so, so easy. Rewind 1 more time and this time
- 7:22step into that version of you feel like you're opening the
- 7:26door, going into that place, placing the order, and then when
- 7:32it arrives, grabbing a handful, taking a bite and noticing that
- 7:41the taste is slightly different but still enjoyable.
- 7:48And notice how easy it is to eat when you're not thinking it's
- 7:56just something you do. I want you to think of another
- 8:02occasion, perhaps at home, and observe as you perhaps eat a
- 8:11piece of fruit, maybe a raw carrot, but then also observe as
- 8:19you see yourself eating that same thing in a different way.
- 8:26Maybe this time the carrots are boiled.
- 8:33Perhaps you see those chips served on a plate but
- 8:38accompanied with something else. And I want you to get a sense
- 8:44that you observe as you eat the way you would normally eat, but
- 8:50this time just add one additional food similar to what
- 8:56you normally eat, but slightly different.
- 8:59Or maybe the same food cooked in a different way.
- 9:03But observe as you see yourself effortlessly managing to eat in
- 9:10that way. Easy, simple, straightforward.
- 9:17And what you know for sure that you're observing yourself eating
- 9:23that food you don't normally eat, rewind, step into that
- 9:28version of you, and then feel completely relaxed in the same
- 9:35way that if you were eating a plate of chips.
- 9:39Only this time it's something slightly different.
- 9:45And maybe it's sweet potato chips, or maybe potatoes that
- 9:50are mashed or served in a different way, or maybe the
- 9:55carrots are boiled, or maybe it's a different vegetable.
- 9:59But feel, how could it feels to enjoy the taste, the texture,
- 10:04the chewing, the swallowing, and it all feels natural, relaxing,
- 10:11like you've been doing it for years.
- 10:15And notice when you think of it this way, it creates a self
- 10:20fulfilling prophecy. From this point forward, you
- 10:27won't treat it like it's something new, you will treat it
- 10:31like it's only a slight variation from something you've
- 10:36already been doing. To allow your mind to think of
- 10:45something just outside the comfort zone, similar to what
- 10:51you've eaten before but slightly different.
- 10:56And allow yourself to observe or imagine eating and it's
- 11:02completely fine. Relaxing no different from
- 11:07eating a handful of chips and just experienced that now
- 11:28allow your mind to look for easy wins, slight variations that are
- 11:40just ever so slightly different from how you've already been
- 11:45eating, with an assumption that it will be completely fine and
- 11:53noticing whenever it is. When you sleep, your mind will
- 11:59imagine eating food you haven't tried in years, enjoying those
- 12:05foods, feeling a desire to effortlessly, naturally add a
- 12:16tiny alteration to a meal or snack or way of eating, giving
- 12:24you the opportunity to surprise yourself, a shot to nothing.
- 12:34If you try something and it works, then it gives you more
- 12:39evidence that more change is possible.
- 12:43And if you feel any resistance, don't need to force yourself,
- 12:49just leave it for that time and revisit another time.
- 12:57It only takes one time of choosing, chewing and eating
- 13:04something to know you can do it from that point onwards that it
- 13:11becomes one of your regular foods that you enjoy.
- 13:19So allow your mind to hold onto a belief that this isn't about
- 13:27not being able to, it's just teaching your body and your
- 13:35brain to do it in a way that feels comfortable, safe, and
- 13:42relaxing. It's time to return to the
- 13:48present, having a sense that this is just a way of learning
- 13:57something slightly different from those things you already
- 14:01know. So take a deep breath in through
- 14:05your nose and out through your nose.
- 14:10Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes as I now count from
- 14:141:00 to 10:00 to awaken you feeling alert, focused, and in
- 14:18the moment starting to count. 123 Waking up 456 More alert.
- 14:277-8. Open your eyes, open your eyes.
- 14:31910 Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
