- 0:59SPEAKER_03: Now let's jump in.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: All right, so no further ado, I want to welcome Sienna Olsen.
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: I really wish you were sitting next to me, to be honest.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: So especially in your setup, it looks so cozy.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: Oh my gosh.
- 1:14SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't know.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: Well, you'll you'll definitely have to come out for one of our IRL events.
- 1:19SPEAKER_03: We've got one in Newport September 20th.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: So it's so awesome weather here if you want to come out for that.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: But yeah, we'll make it happen.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: It'll be great.
- 1:27SPEAKER_03: And then maybe you can do another one together.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: But anyway, we have so much to talk about today.
- 1:32SPEAKER_03: We have so much in common, not only as coaching, but mindset, the type of woman that you and I really I think who we are and who we deal with.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: So I would love for you to kind of tell our listener a little bit about Slow Rex, your background, and how you and I got connected.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: And I think that's a great foundation coming from your mouth versus me telling the story.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: So I am a chiropractor.
- 1:59SPEAKER_02: So I have my doctorate in chiropractic and master's in sports medicine.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: And I am a practicing chiropractor still.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: And I also have my own business outside of that, which is really focused on sustainable longevity optimization, which is where slow RX came from.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: And the biggest thing with Slow RX for me is, you know, my one of my catchphrases is more is not better, right is best, and right is best for you.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: So I really prioritize that for every single one of my women that I work with because so many of them are just flooded with information and they don't know where to start.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: And it's not because they're not smart, it's just because there's an abundance of information and they've tried so many things that have failed them.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: And sometimes you just need someone to bring you back and give you that bird's eye view and be like, this is what's best for you, and this is what the plan is.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: And then everything just falls into place so much faster and it lasts so much longer, too, than these like quick hit things.
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: So um, the way you and I met was a really fun story.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: So I am in Lori and Chris Harder's uh mastermind, and they both were really helping me just glow up into this peptide space because, like anything, it's uh a whole new world, but especially in peptides, it's kind of like the Wild West.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: And it was kind of like a very uh serendipitous moment because I was getting into it and they were getting into it, and they're like, hey, this is gonna be great.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: You really need to meet Stephanie.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, perfect.
- 3:28SPEAKER_02: And now here we are working together.
- 3:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, we had a fun phone call.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: I remember that day really well.
- 3:34SPEAKER_03: You know, and it's for me too.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: I I top with this like I'm all about linking arms right now because when you mentioned that it's so crowded and so chaotic, I it wasn't always like that.
- 3:47SPEAKER_03: And so I think for the well, I know for the consumer, for the middle-aged woman, for any woman, right?
- 3:53SPEAKER_03: You're getting on social media, I don't care what platform you are, your algorithm is going to take you down.
- 4:00SPEAKER_03: Anytime you pause on something for long enough, it's like, oh, this is what you want, right?
- 4:04SPEAKER_03: And all of a sudden you've got these perfect looking women walking around, like telling you everything that you should be doing.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: And there was a girl the other day, literally, she's like, I think I've talked about my podcast before, but she said, So I am a model and I'm 26 years old, and I go to my last meal is at four every day.
- 4:21SPEAKER_03: And then I go to bed around 8:30.
- 4:25SPEAKER_03: Do you have any friends?
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Who eats with you at four?
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: You know, and so I think part of it too is, and Lori and I talk about this a lot, and I I think we'll dive into this a little bit today, is just you know, what does it really mean to be, you know, optimized?
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: And what does it mean to feel your best?
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: What does that look like?
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: And I'm older than you, but I think there's a lot of things that were sold to us, like more is better, right?
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: Like, I mean, how many supplements do we have sitting on our counters?
- 4:50SPEAKER_03: Like between a TikTok shop and oh, I have Korean glass skin.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, we're sold so much stuff, right?
- 4:57SPEAKER_03: And I find myself too, I now tell myself to pause and be like, okay, do you really want that or need that?
- 5:03SPEAKER_03: And I think it's a a time when it's like, how do we scale back the 20, the 12-step skincare?
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: And how do we say, okay, what do we really, really need?
- 5:12SPEAKER_03: And you're right, having some sort of coach.
- 5:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, I have a business coach who's like half-life coach, and like I leave and I'm like, all right, I've got tools to regulate my central nervous system.
- 5:22SPEAKER_03: And it's no different than someone saying, like, I need tool, where do I start?
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: And like I have them start, and I'm very thinking we're very similar.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: It's not a lot because half the barrier to entry is like, oh my gosh, especially in the peptide world, what am I gonna put into my body?
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: How do I inject?
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: Do I wanna inject?
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: There's just so much behind it.
- 5:43SPEAKER_03: What are you seeing right now from kind of when you got into this industry?
- 5:48SPEAKER_03: And you see it a lot, probably taking it from your chiropractic world, right, where you're helping people, now you're moving it into another area that is both physical and mental.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: So, what are you seeing with your clientele and how has it changed?
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Well, I think, you know, of course, the GLPs were probably the most popular right out the gate, just because they had the FDA backing behind them, doctors are able to prescribe them.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: And especially after the last couple of years, there's just been this huge boom of people using them, which I obviously have nothing against them.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: I think GLPs are fantastic and are incredible tools for people.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: And I think one of the cool things, especially with within the GLP1 space, is that initially I remember when they first started getting a lot of uh attention, there was a lot of fear around them because you were hearing about all these big scary things happening when people were taking those CPICs specifically, like paralytic ileus.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: So, like your intestines stopped working, or pancreas issues, or gallbladder issues.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: And so there was all this fear-mongering around it, but we didn't actually understand why it was happening.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: And so many of these people who were having these issues come on were because they weren't implementing the right lifestyle changes with it.
- 7:06SPEAKER_02: They just didn't have the education from the providers who were prescribing them these things.
- 7:10SPEAKER_02: Like, hey, you do need to change your lifestyle because if you continue eating McDonald's three times a day while you're taking this and your digestion is slow, you are going to run into problems.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Whether you're on Ozimpic or not, this is not good for you.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: So I think that's one of the cool shifts that I've seen is that the fear around GLP1 specifically has really decreased because we have more awareness of the positive effects and long-term effects that these medications and peptides can have.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: One of the cool things that I've experienced in practice is there's a lot of surgeons who are now starting to recommend things like BPC 157 to my patients to help accelerate their recovery process post-surgery, which is so cool.
- 7:54SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm always like, who's your doctor?
- 7:56SPEAKER_02: Who told you that?
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: And they're like, so and so.
- 7:58SPEAKER_02: I'm like, oh my gosh, I love them.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: Yes, right.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: It's just such a game changer to get your cells on board with this traumatic event that your body is going through.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: Because any surgery that you have, even if it's non-invasive or pretty minor, it's a foreign invasion to your body and it's a it's a trauma.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: So adding in these tools to help you recover faster and feel better is one of the most exciting things for me, especially as it's getting more integrated into the Western med medicine side of things.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: And the recover, you know, the recovery piece.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm finding too, and I'm curious, you're right.
- 8:37SPEAKER_03: Like I think there's a lot of fear around it, and there's also a lot of stigma too, where someone wants just permission to be able to go on and to try something.
- 8:45SPEAKER_03: And then there's a whole category of like it didn't work for me, or why has it not worked, or I was flatlined.
- 8:52SPEAKER_03: And so I think what's interesting too is I think a lot of us as coaches and doctors who are really spending time working with our patients and understanding it in clients is that like because it's not a one size fits all, there's a lot of people who have no business being on a GLP, whose bodies can't tolerate a GLP.
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: And so I've got a great example right now of a client who came in.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Same thing.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: She's like, I'm so desperate to lose this weight.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: And I went on a GLP about six months ago and I was flatlined.
- 9:19SPEAKER_03: I like lost 10 pounds in two weeks and I couldn't move.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: And I she's a high functioning, powerful woman who speaks on stage a ton.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: Like, could you know she does not have time for that?
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: And so we kind of went through a mirror of stuff, looked at some blood work, and then just kind of figured out like how to get her going again.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: And now she's like so excited and she's had tons of success and she feels wonderful.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: And we were able to pair it with some other peptides, and just it doesn't have to be this experience that just flatlines you or takes you to the sidelines.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: And I just feel unfortunately, between the med spas and some of the doctors, and just not really having a philosophy of low and slow and everyone's different, I was shocked of how many people I'm dealing with of like, okay, let's get this to work for you.
- 10:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: And I think, I mean, for me, one of my clients that comes to mind as well was in a similar boat, and she had tried uh various forms of GLPs uh three different times before she and I started working together, and she's like, for whatever reason, my doctor told me I should take this again.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: It hasn't worked.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: Um, but maybe if you can help me with it, we will get somewhere with it.
- 10:27SPEAKER_02: And once her and I really focused on her foundation and getting her lifestyle habits dialed in, and this was not like a huge overhaul where I'm like, Yeah, you can't eat this food group, and you have to go to bed at 7:30 and only drink water.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: Um, it was very just subtle changes, and it's kind of like a game of Tetris where you just like find all the pieces that fit together for your specific puzzle.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: And she lost 35 pounds over the course of six months of us working together, and she felt incredible.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Like she was like, This is so easy.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm still enjoying my sandwiches and like having cocktails with my friends and going out to dinner with my husband.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: And so it was a really rewarding experience for me and her just being able to show her, like, if you just like tweak things just right, you really don't need to add in all this stuff to get you to where you want to be.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: And I think that's where you know a lot of people run into issues, is that because they aren't adding or fine-tuning these things, then they're just automatically getting an increase in their dose.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: And then as the dose goes up, they feel worse and worse and worse, and their hair starts to fall out, and then they're like, oh my gosh, this is like poison.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Why am I doing this to myself?
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: And then they rebound, and it's like, oh my gosh, if we if I could have just like held your hand and like walked two steps ahead of you, we would have avoided this whole thing, right?
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: Well, and that's true.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: And I, you know, I say, you know, my my job as a coach is if I do my job within the first month, like you're off to the races.
- 11:59SPEAKER_03: You don't need me.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: You do not need me.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: If you listen, we can touch, you know, come into the loop community, feel supported.
- 12:06SPEAKER_03: You're gonna be you're gonna be more than fine.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: You're gonna be great.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: But you're having to make these little changes and these tweaks and understanding that it is a lifestyle, but it's not an overhaul.
- 12:16SPEAKER_03: And I think that's something that's really important.
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: And I think the shift that we're seeing is just like, yes, you have to make changes.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Is lifestyle important, but it definitely does not mean that you cannot have a life.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: And I don't necessarily think mentally going in a place of like, I need to live at the gym, I need, you know, I'm eating 800 calories, I'm of course you're not sleeping, and all these other things happen is like, how do you use it simply as a tool?
- 12:43SPEAKER_03: And I'd say, like, I was saying this the other day, on my 45-minute coaching call, I want to say maybe 40% as peptides, and the rest is really asking a lot of questions and understanding and where are they mentally and what are their expectations and managing their expectations, and then also knowing that, like, yeah, the other outliers every now and then, but for most people, done the right way.
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: It's one of the most powerful tools that that I'm seeing with your client.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: You know, I think we not laugh, but I think we really resonate where it's like it is oftentimes a high-functioning woman who's doing a lot of things, who's like nothing is working anymore.
- 13:24SPEAKER_03: I'm doing all the things I get that a ton, or I get like, I've never had to deal with weight my whole life, and now all of a sudden I have a tie, you know, it's just it's almost like looking in the mirror and saying, like, is life over?
- 13:35SPEAKER_03: Like, I don't know where to begin because I keep doing more of everything that's not working.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: Or feeling like I I am doing all the right things, but I don't even look like I work out.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: That's another comment on that eye here, and I'm like, oh, that is so frustrating.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: And yeah, to your point, like it's like they have this mirror moment where they look at themselves and they're like, what the hell is that?
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Like, this is not like for all the effort that I'm putting in, this is not a reflection of like everything that I'm doing.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:05SPEAKER_03: You know, I have this conversation and I I think it lands is I ask them, okay, so you go to the gym four or five times a week.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: Is anything changing?
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: No, but I'm afraid to get worse.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, okay, so the definition of insanity is something over and over expecting different results, but you're doing something you're telling me because you don't want to get worse.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Like, what if you could get better?
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: You know, what if I told you if you're willing to actually go to the gym three days a week and not five?
- 14:32SPEAKER_03: And what if I actually said to you is like, I know that you love Pilates?
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: And I'm not telling you not to do Pilates, but I'm saying we're gonna have to shift the number of Pilates days to the number of like, do you want to change your body composition?
- 14:44SPEAKER_03: And I think body composition is something I didn't focus on a ton growing up.
- 14:49SPEAKER_03: I didn't focus on honestly until I had to really change my body composition after my knee surgery.
- 14:56SPEAKER_03: And you probably see that a lot in your chiropractic world is post-injury, like a lot of people do not have choices, and their body composition has changed dramastic, drastically because they, you know, they lost a lot of muscle, they're injured or whatnot, they can't control things.
- 15:10SPEAKER_03: Of like me really explaining to a client client, like what does it mean to change your body composition?
- 15:15SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm in a microdose of a GLP and my weight has been exactly the same my last three DEXA scans.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 15:22SPEAKER_03: I mean, to the which is crazy, and you're going at different times of the month and day, and for a middle-aged woman, like usually we fluctuate a lot.
- 15:29SPEAKER_03: It hasn't because at the end of the day, my body composition changed.
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: You know, I I look different, my muscle to fat ratio is different, but how do we focus on that, right, instead of losing weight and being skinny?
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: Because I know, and I'm sure you see this for clients, and I'd love for you to elaborate.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Oftentimes you're gonna get them into the gym and like they're they might not lose weight.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Or I say you might feel like you're a little heavier or you might look heavier because you haven't let go of the inflammation and the water weight, but you put on muscle.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Give it time, trust the process.
- 15:58SPEAKER_03: That's the hard part, I think, for people is just like really trusting a process.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: And that's definitely something that is really important where you know, setting those expectations and just outlining the possibility of where where you're obviously going to end up, but also trusting the process along the way that like how you get there may not look like how your mom got there or how your sister got there, or this person on Instagram that you follow who achieved XYZ in 30 days.
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: Like just really honoring yourself and your own journey through that process is one of the key things that I focus on.
- 16:37SPEAKER_02: Because I think, especially as women, it's really easy to get caught up in you know, this low grade competition with one another, not even in a in a nasty way, but um maybe comparison is a better word, where it's like, oh, well, she she did this so fast, and I'm like still kind of just like, you know, doing a shuffle, and it looks like she's sprinting through this whole thing.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: And it's like, well, you have no idea what kind of work she did a whole year leading up to this whole thing, where she's finally sharing this piece of her journey with you.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: And I'm sure to someone else, like where you're at, looks like you're sprinting and they're doing their version of a shuffle.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: What's that saying, you know, comparison is a thief of joy, right?
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: Because like it's hard to celebrate your own wins when you're like, well, Susie looks this, you know, and it's so hard as women.
- 17:24SPEAKER_03: Like, I'm not saying men don't have it at all, but I do have to say, like, and I, you know, I'm leaning into this a little bit more.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: I've always been a person who like kind of like played small a little bit and was like, if someone gave you a compliment, was like a little self-deprecating, and you're like, well, and or I never wanted to make somebody feel bad.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was always just kind of playing that shuffle, yeah.
- 17:47SPEAKER_03: And lately, and maybe it's an age thing, and you know, Lori and I are leaning into this a little bit on our podcast together, is like, how about we be unapologetic to wanting to be hot?
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: And like just as simple as saying, like, yes, like you know, and I think you know about this.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: I'm like, Yes, it is okay to want to feel hot and look like I don't know where this whole thing of like, oh, I want to lose weight, so I'm like healthy and I live a long time.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: Like, yes, obviously, that is like wildly important to me too, for like myself and every single person I talk to.
- 18:24SPEAKER_02: But like, dude, don't you want to be snatched too?
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: Like, it feels good to look good.
- 18:29SPEAKER_02: Like, you want to look at yourself in the mirror and be like, I look incredible, I feel amazing, and like and own it, right?
- 18:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it just like you just glow when you feel that way about yourself.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: Yes, everything just falls into place so much easier.
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: You attract better people into your life.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Like, it's just like this really incredible domino effect that happens.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: And I think we just to your point, we need to give ourselves permission to be like, hell yeah, I'm hot.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: I mean, my gosh, like, and and I struggle with it sometimes too, because like you don't want to ever come across as complimenting yourself.
- 19:02SPEAKER_03: But when you you know that woman who walks into the room and the energy shifts, and mind you, she might not be the prettiest and she might not have the best.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: It's it's an aura because she feels so good about herself and she feels hot, and it's it there's a whole thing around it that I kind of want to lean into with my community and like let's just call it what it is and just stop saying like I'm a has been or like I, you know, I'm 50 and like what's gonna happen?
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: I'm like, oh my gosh, like I feel the best I've ever felt.
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: Like I I walk around being like this is amazing, like, but I'm not c I'm not comparing maybe the age, but like I'm not comparing myself to the person on Instagram who's given you their best angle or their best photo or their you know filtered look of whatsoever.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: It's just like, how do we as coaches too go, okay, like, yeah, let's just call it what it is.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: Like you want to look your best, feel snatched, whatever that look is, you will feel it.
- 19:59SPEAKER_03: And it is about being hot again.
- 20:01SPEAKER_03: It's like putting on that dress and walking into whatever a date with your husband, your boyfriend, or like a wedding or a graduation, and just being like, wow, I feel so good about myself.
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: And it comes from within.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: And I think it also comes from, like you said, like taking the time to say it's not just one thing.
- 20:20SPEAKER_03: Like this peptide is not going to solve all the problems.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: Will it solve a small handful?
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: But there's so many other pieces to work on as you're going through this and just owning what you want for yourself.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: And I think, you know, especially with peptides, they are like little amplifiers.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: They make good things more pronounced and they can also highlight bad things.
- 20:43SPEAKER_02: Um, like if you, you know, aren't very mindful about what you're eating or, you know, slowing down and actually enjoying what you're eating, then you're gonna really feel it, especially if you're on a GLP one.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh my gosh, I feel so uncomfortable because your stomach isn't digesting as quickly, but you just inhaled so much food so fast and now it's just sitting there and you're like, this is terrible.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: So then you get this kind of instant mirror reflection back to yourself of all these little things that you've kind of ignored or have just gotten used to over time because habits and it can amplify, like, oh, these are the slight shifts that I need to change to help myself feel more comfortable.
- 21:22SPEAKER_02: And over time, all of a sudden you turn into this radically different person who has all these mindful habits in place because you have this peptide that is amplifying all the things that need to improve for you.
- 21:34SPEAKER_03: You know, a conversation I have a lot, which I think works with a lot of my clients.
- 21:37SPEAKER_03: I'm not a big macros person.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: I'm big on understanding what food is, you know, understanding kind of what you're eating.
- 21:43SPEAKER_03: And you know, you might need in the beginning a little bit of a tool to kind of help you understand a portion size.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: But I really, for the most part, just say, okay, I want you guys to focus on every single meal, ask yourself, where is the protein?
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 21:55SPEAKER_03: And you these surprise how many people come back and they're like, that actually really worked.
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Just ask yourself.
- 22:01SPEAKER_03: And if you can't answer that or you do not know, well, then you can you know figure that out.
- 22:05SPEAKER_03: But they make different choices when they're like looking at a menu.
- 22:08SPEAKER_03: And I think so many of us looked at a menus, and I can speak for myself being like, what's healthy?
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: I don't know what's healthy.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: Okay, I'll gonna get the salad with the dressing on the side, and um, I guess I'll get some shrimp, and I don't want any dairy, and then God forbid if I eat the bread, and then you end up even eating the bread and doing all the stuff, and you don't eat your sh your, you know, you don't get steak or chicken or something that has the most protein possible.
- 22:30SPEAKER_03: And you have so many calories from the salad dressing, and like just not understanding.
- 22:34SPEAKER_03: And I think the feedback I have from a lot of clients, like, gosh, I just go and I'm like, okay, where's the meat?
- 22:40SPEAKER_03: Like, where's the chicken?
- 22:41SPEAKER_03: Where is a piece of steak?
- 22:42SPEAKER_03: Where's a pork chop?
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: Like looking at that category where I think it's women, we are so afraid of that section of a menu, right?
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: We're like dabbling over here and we're trying to put things together that we really kind of like when at the end of the day, you can eat all the other things.
- 22:57SPEAKER_03: Like, just make sure that you're having when you're leaving your meal, you're like, wow, that's I had a lot of protein and I'm satisfied.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: Versus, like, we all know this is like you eat everything except what you really want or you're satisfied with, and then you go home and then you're like, well, I want this and I want that, and they make all these poor choices, versus really saying, like, what does my body need?
- 23:15SPEAKER_03: And then it's a responsibility.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: If you're on a GLP, this is actually one thing that works really well as well that I say, and I'm not sure if you find this, but I just said it, like, it is more of a responsibility because you aren't going to want to eat as much, and you are naturally gonna eat less.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: So what you put into your body is that much more important, you know, because yes, if you don't care and you can eat a bag of chips, but like if you eat a bag of chips and you're full, well, that didn't help you out.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: No, I I loved, I heard you say that on a different podcast.
- 23:44SPEAKER_02: I was like, yes, responsibility is such a good term for that because so many people are like caught up in their feelings.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: Well, like, I don't feel like going to the gym, I don't feel like eating right now.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: And it's like, well, your feelings are fleeting, and you're gonna have a different feeling here shortly about what the hell's going on because you don't look the way that you want to look where you feel like crap.
- 24:08SPEAKER_02: So it's like that's where that responsibility piece comes in.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: It's like, yes, you need to start with your protein and prioritize that uh to preserve your muscle mass.
- 24:17SPEAKER_02: But also, my favorite thing ever is when girls come to me and they're like, How do you have such long hair that's thick and your skin looks amazing?
- 24:24SPEAKER_02: I'm like, I eat my protein.
- 24:26SPEAKER_02: Like, yes, I have a skincare routine, and honestly, I don't deserve the hair that I have, but I'm thankful for it because I'm a bun and run girl.
- 24:34SPEAKER_02: Um honestly, it's because I eat so much protein, and all of this is built from protein, all of your cells.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: Like your DNA is protein.
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: So when you give yourself enough protein, everything just works so much better and you look better.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: You too, and I think what's really important for all you listeners is that don't lie to yourself.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: We all tell us the stories, we all lie to ourselves.
- 24:54SPEAKER_03: Like at the end of the day, your blood work will also help you with your protein levels, like it'll tell you where your protein levels are.
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: Like, are you?
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: I'm to be honest, like I tend to get blood work back that still says sometimes your protein levels are low.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: And I am like, How the heck can I eat more protein?
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: But it just reminds you of like, come on, Stephanie, like you can do better, we can all do better.
- 25:13SPEAKER_03: And so that piece is like, why would you spend all this money on GOPs are not cheap.
- 25:21SPEAKER_03: So why would you spend all this money or get into the place where like you've all this other host of other issues that are happening because you're just not focusing on some of the things that like yes, things can be a little hard sometimes, like yeah, that's life.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: Like you never saw a person who like you are like, Oh, I want to emulate their body physique or what they look like, and be like, oh, they probably just sleep in and don't do much and eat whatever they no, like the reason someone looks like that is that that is a lot of hard work and intention and accountability and all of it.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: It's just consistency, and consistency is like the least sexy word and thing to like oh, but if you just focus on just one more day at a time instead of like, okay, for the next six months, I'm gonna do this, and if I break that chain, then I'm an absolute failure.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: It's like we can't we have to get rid of this like all or nothing mindset, and I think especially as women, we have that mindset where it's like if I'm not perfect, then like what's the point?
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's like well, even if you just stuck with like one thing and you got really excellent and consistent with that for like again, just like one day at a time, but that one day at a time compounds over you know four weeks, and then you add on something else that you want to get really good at, and then soon enough, after a year, you're gonna look like you have a totally different earth suit and you're saving money because you're not making expensive pee, just taking all these things, hoping they're gonna band-aid fix you.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: You're actually implementing the things to change yourself from the inside out.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: I have a girl who calls it the fuck it, and it's so good.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: Let's like, it's like, I mean, it's like I don't love to swear, but it actually is the best word I heard for it where they're like, you're doing so good, and then you're just like fuck it.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: And then you come off the bandwagon.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: And so I also try to really work with people said when you lift weights, and no one wants to hear this, but I'm really realistic, I'm like, it's gonna take six months to a year.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: Like, what do you mean truly of getting a foundation?
- 27:12SPEAKER_03: Now, you might be somebody who genetically you're very lucky, but I think for most women who are changing their body composition, like it's gonna be six months to a year.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: Like in six months, go get a diet another DEXA scan, and you'll you'll start to actually be like, oh wow, I'm making progress.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: You might not see it as much as you'd like to, but like it takes a lot of time, and especially if you're in your middle age, because there is a lot that's working against us that we're working to get into check.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: But I think this expectation that like Rome was built in a day, or any of the any woman that you see walking around the inst Instagram or anywhere that has a lot of muscle on, that is years.
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: You know, that's probably a they're an athlete in college, a lot of years.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: So, like comparing yourself is not where you want to go.
- 27:56SPEAKER_03: Like for your body, you know, starting with a DEXA scan, figuring out where is your your base point?
- 28:01SPEAKER_03: Oftentimes, which I love, Sienna too, is that like look at your body mass index.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: Like, if it's telling you it's not healthy, I don't care what body dysmorphia you have, good or bad, like it's telling you something.
- 28:13SPEAKER_03: So, how do we start to work in that category of like, okay, like this is what we're dealing with, and the quickest way to start to change that is to manipulate what you're doing.
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and um, and I don't want to say it's that simple, and I do have a ton of empathy, but sometimes I get a little bit like when I look at my life, what how crazy it is, and I'm not saying other people's lives are not crazy, but I'm just like it's it's it's more of a desire to be consistent and really want to change versus someone who thinks they get a quick fix from a GLP or a peptide.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: That mentality of the quick fix is the one that I'm just like that gets you in trouble.
- 28:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: And I think you know, with the GLPs, they can definitely help someone who is having a hard time getting started to get positive reinforcement to keep going with any of the changes that they're starting to see.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: But if they lack the component of, you know, showing up for themselves and doing all of the lifestyle changes, or maybe they need to add in another layer of accountability where someone is handholding them a little bit more so that you know, sometimes showing up for yourself is hard, but when you have to show up and report to someone else, it's a lot easier for you to follow through on things.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: And then eventually you get to the point where you're like, oh yeah, this is like just a part of who I am, and it feels a lot more natural.
- 29:37SPEAKER_03: Do you have your clients report to you?
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, some of them, it kind of depends.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: There's a handful of them who have been with me long enough that they're like, I just really like checking in and talking to you and making sure I'm doing well.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: Um, and then I have a handful who are very much like I needed to hold my hand every single week.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: And so we'll do like email or loom check-ins once a week with each other.
- 30:00SPEAKER_02: So it's it's kind of variable and very different for each of my clients, but there's a good blend and it's really fun.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 30:07SPEAKER_03: I know I think that's you know, I can think of myself with my coach that I do is I only talked to her.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Well, I I I had a really intense program with her, and then I haven't used her for a long time.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: And I recently am like, hey, I need some more support.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: So I was like, is there like a hybrid I can do?
- 30:21SPEAKER_03: So we literally only have a call once a month, but we can voice note, we can voy, I can do unlimited voice notes.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 30:28SPEAKER_03: And without expectations, like I voice noted her this morning, and I'm like, I could hear back tomorrow or the next.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: You know, it's she we're usually pretty good, but just that little voice note, I feel like I'm like, I may should implement that in my coaching, is sometimes just like that little question or the little check-in or the reminder, or how do I get out of my head, or you know, what relationship do you place the scale with your clients and GLPs?
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: I'm curious.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, it's it's not my biggest priority.
- 31:00SPEAKER_02: If someone is, you know, on the higher end of, you know, body mass in a sense of like more fat mass, it may be a higher priority in the beginning.
- 31:12SPEAKER_02: But I, regardless of where they are at, I always look at their body composition first, along with their weight.
- 31:18SPEAKER_02: And I really implement um measurements and pictures too, just because again, when we are starting to add in resistance training and you are starting to actually consume enough protein throughout the day, you will hit a point where it kind of feels like you're stalling out or looks like you're stalling out per the scale.
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: But then when you actually do your measurements and then you're looking at your pictures, you're like, I look so different.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: And my favorite thing is when they put on clothes and they're like, I wore these shorts last summer and now I'm swimming in them and I have to go by completely different wardrobe.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: That's like And they had no idea.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they had no idea.
- 31:54SPEAKER_02: That's like the best thing about my clients who live in a place with like all four seasons.
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: It's like once a quarter, we're like going through like, oh, these jeans, or oh, these shorts, and I'm like, this is so awesome.
- 32:04SPEAKER_02: And also, I'm sorry for your wallet, but also this is really great.
- 32:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Well, and it's like the slow and steady kind of gets you there where you don't even realize it because it's been over a course of like a decent amount of time, which I think is so cool.
- 32:16SPEAKER_03: I told my workout group because they're all different shapes and sizes, and we had a photo of like our first like month together, and like a year, I mean September actually like two years, and this wow, and we're all vast, we're built really differently.
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: Like I'm a petite person, like in general.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: Like I've got small feet, small wrists, like I'm small.
- 32:35SPEAKER_03: I have women who are like, you know, like small on the top and curvy in the bottom, and you look at every single one's body composition is just wildly different.
- 32:44SPEAKER_03: And like it's fun.
- 32:45SPEAKER_03: They come in there wearing like you know, crop tops now, and like it's just like you watch, but it's taking a it's taken a long time, but it's so fun just to see how it can change with loop health.
- 32:55SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you've been dabbling on it yet in our chat groups and stuff, but so we I decided on like because I coach so much on the progressive overload and explaining what it is, and really saying, like, do you have a trainer nearby?
- 33:05SPEAKER_03: Because it's not as easy in the beginning to figure out what it was.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: I was the person who used I didn't love lifting weights, but I'd go in and I'm like, okay, okay.
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: There was no method to the madness, and like then I'm like, Well, why is nothing changing?
- 33:17SPEAKER_03: I'm lifting weights.
- 33:18SPEAKER_03: Well, I just wasn't lifting properly, and it did there was no real system to it.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: So I decided so I've with uh my trainer Brad, who's kind of does this German recomp.
- 33:28SPEAKER_03: So he well, the way he works is like everything's in three-week periods, and you do the same two workouts either two times a week or four times a week, depending on what you want to do for three weeks, and then we switch it up.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: So I'm like, well, why don't we just professionally film it?
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: So they professionally filmed me doing the first set and then my boyfriend doing the male's version.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: So we're gonna have that on loop health, which I think is really cool because not only can you do it, and he explains the difference, like the reps are there, but he'll say for progressive overload, you need to make sure your last two reps, you know, you're making that kind of face that you're like as you get up.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: And so understanding if you're gonna do it on your own, this is what you need, or bring this to your trainer and you know, just say, hey, help me really, you know, every three weeks you only need to meet with them, maybe the first week.
- 34:12SPEAKER_03: Have them walk you into what that looks like.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: Get the weights that you need, and then you're off to the races for the next two.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: So I'm hoping that it's a tool that people can also use and then figure out kind of what works well with them.
- 34:23SPEAKER_03: So I'm excited for you to check it out.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: That is gonna be so awesome.
- 34:27SPEAKER_02: I've done some uh German volume training in the past, and it's it can be really intense, but I think especially when you have the split set up the way that you were describing, it's gonna be really easy for people to integrate it into their life at any phase of their fitness journey.
- 34:42SPEAKER_03: Because I mean it's it's 45 minutes.
- 34:45SPEAKER_03: It's 45 minutes, and what I do like is like this is phase one.
- 34:49SPEAKER_03: And even if you're like an avid lifter, like I could go do phase one right now, and it would still be great.
- 34:55SPEAKER_03: Like there'd be nothing about it where I'm like, oh, I'm not no, it's like anyone can start, but everyone can, you know, they'll be able to go through the different phases, so they feel like, hey, I can start no matter where I'm at, depending on the weight.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: Because I do feel like, and I don't like to like be so black and white with things, but like unless you are really an anomaly, I don't know any middle-aged man or woman that can get the BMI and body composition that they want without lifting a heavy weight.
- 35:27SPEAKER_03: Like, I mean, I mean, you might look really skinny, you could be skinny fat, but I think if you did a DEXA scan, I don't necessarily think you're like, okay, this is actually what I need to age well.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:36SPEAKER_03: And to make sure I don't hurt myself or break a bone or my, you know, bone density, all the things that matter.
- 35:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 35:44SPEAKER_02: That's is one of the big things that, you know, I think a lot of people want to lose weight so that they look toned.
- 35:50SPEAKER_02: And they only want to work out so that they look toned.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: And I get that.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: But it's like you would have to take a lot of steroids and lift for a very long time for you to look like a big puffy balloon before like you would look anywhere close to being bulky.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Like, you just have to get blood flow to your muscles and put your muscles under stress to inflate this balloon for your muscles.
- 36:17SPEAKER_02: And then as you lose weight and the fat comes off, then you actually have something to show.
- 36:22SPEAKER_02: And then that's how you get your toned look.
- 36:23SPEAKER_03: But if you just Okay, so this word, by the way, the word toned is so funny.
- 36:27SPEAKER_03: And I know that you're that the way you talk about it.
- 36:29SPEAKER_03: I know you how you feel, how I feel.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: Excuse my language, but what the fuck is toned?
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: Like toned.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: When you ask somebody, it's like, no, your body fat is low enough that you can show a muscle that you have in.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, that it's it's your body composition.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: It's like toned is actually being able to show a muscle because you have you're lean enough for the muscle to show.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: And it's like so funny.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: I just I want to be toned and I don't want to be bulky.
- 36:52SPEAKER_03: I just want like Pilates arms and I want to be toned.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: Well, someone who's able to have Pilates arms has the foundation of muscle enough and it's gone their body fat low enough that you can see the muscle.
- 37:03SPEAKER_03: It has nothing to do with the Pilates.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 37:06SPEAKER_03: I mean, and I don't mean to be, but it's just I think sometimes it's really funny.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: And you're right, you go through the different stages of what it takes to put the muscle on, and like it's not going to be a linear experience.
- 37:19SPEAKER_03: You know, you go through the like you said, you go through the bulking and then the cutting.
- 37:23SPEAKER_03: And not I'm I'm not even saying with calories, I'm just saying for oftentimes of like you're in periods where you're working harder, they're in your periods that you're resting where you can recover, and the day that you're working hard, you might put on your jeans the next morning and be like, oh, these are tight.
- 37:35SPEAKER_03: They have no, they're they're tight because your muscle says a lot of water in it because you're training and eating the right way.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: A week later, after some recovery days and sleeping, you put your jeans on and you're like, oh, they feel great.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: Same body, just different composition.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: And that's the same thing that happens with uh people who will, you know, especially when they first start getting into resistance training, and then they do a workout, weigh themselves the next day, and they notice that the scale has gone up a little bit, and they're like, oh my gosh, see, I gain weight when I lift.
- 38:04SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Yeah, you did gain weight, but you just attracted a ton of water into your muscle tissue and you're sore.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: And so you are holding water weight into your muscles.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: And if you just give it a few days, it's all gonna come off.
- 38:18SPEAKER_02: And this is a good thing.
- 38:19SPEAKER_02: Like, this means that you stressed your system, and that doesn't mean to say like you have to stress your system that hard every single time you work out to get results, but especially when you're starting out, it's very normal to see those fluctuations in your weight, especially on the scale, because your muscles are literally full of blood and water, and they're taking time to recover so that you aren't sore anymore, and you're also growing your muscles, which is what we want, so that you can look toned.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: Toned.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, we're gonna call this this podcast the art of being toned.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:50SPEAKER_03: I know one of the things too.
- 38:51SPEAKER_03: I with this, and I actually, this is how I personally use the scale, and I sometimes suggest it to my clients is like check in with the scale, but it's a check-in, and it I want you to check in when you're feeling good.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: Okay, when you're not feeling good, do you want the scale?
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: Usually the scale is gonna confirm why you're not feeling good.
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: The scale's not gonna be like, oh, I'm completely wrong.
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: And the scale lies.
- 39:16SPEAKER_03: So the scale's lying on so many ways.
- 39:18SPEAKER_03: So, like, even myself, like if I go on a trip, I don't jump back on a scale probably for three weeks.
- 39:24SPEAKER_03: And then one day when I'm feeling like really good, I might get in the scale and I'm like, oh, but like the scale to me is for women is the biggest liar.
- 39:33SPEAKER_03: And we use it as this confirmation and it either sets the tone of our day, right?
- 39:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, you know, and there's some days like if I got on a scale, I'm like, oh my god, I've lost three pounds.
- 39:45SPEAKER_03: There's no, I think there's no way I have not lost three pounds, you guys.
- 39:48SPEAKER_03: I'm dehydrated.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: I probably didn't drink enough water the day before.
- 39:52SPEAKER_03: There's a thousand other reasons, and I sometimes freak out because I'm like, I don't want to lose three pounds versus like, or sometimes you're like, I don't want to put on six.
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: That is not what's happening.
- 40:00SPEAKER_03: And I just wish we could figure out a better system.
- 40:03SPEAKER_03: Like, I like the clothes system.
- 40:05SPEAKER_03: I just like how do I feel in my body?
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: Like, how do you check in with yourself?
- 40:09SPEAKER_03: And also, like, and I don't mind is a devil's workshop.
- 40:12SPEAKER_03: Go distract yourself.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: Like, what are you doing every day if you're nitpicking and taking photos and checking photos and getting on the scale?
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: Like, let it lie, let the lifestyle work, let the peptides work, free your mind.
- 40:24SPEAKER_03: And like you said, like check in per season.
- 40:27SPEAKER_03: I mean, yes, there's some holding accountable, but there's a much better matrix to hold yourself accountable than the scale.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:33unknown: Yeah.
- 40:34SPEAKER_02: That's just me though.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: And I think the scale is wildly overrated for a lot of people.
- 40:41SPEAKER_02: And one thing I really work on with a lot of my clients who are addicted to the scale or believe the scale is the holy Bible, is you know, when you step on the scale, we really want to approach it as like a neutral thing.
- 40:54SPEAKER_02: This is just data.
- 40:55SPEAKER_02: This is not a determiner of like who you are as a person.
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: Like, okay, this is the number.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: I am still me.
- 41:04SPEAKER_02: And that's this is where I'm at today.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: Check the box, we're good.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: We can move on with our lives.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: We don't need to get hyper focused on it or do it multiple times a day.
- 41:13SPEAKER_02: Um, it's just one of those things where like practicing that neutrality really is good, so that you can just get on it randomly whenever you want, and it doesn't feel like you're the biggest loser stepping on the scale for the first time in three months, and you're like looking with one eye open, like, oh my god, let's play today, and you're like sweating, and then you're like, oh, and then you see it and you're like, Oh, okay.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: Yes, you know, it's funny, I and I have this feeling with all kind of all of data, like all the devices and all the rings and the whoops and the eight sleeps and all the kinds of I mean eight sleeps is a whole different category, but let's say like aura, I was an early adapter of the aura ring.
- 41:50SPEAKER_03: First one, because that was my mindset when I was at that time of my life.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: I don't know, it's like eight, ten years ago, I don't know whenever it came out, but I think any device, including like weighing your food in the beginning, is great.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: Because you're like, I'm kind of setting a baseline, I'm trying to understand where things lie, and then you literally need to let it lie.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: And like with the aura ring, like I talk about this a lot, but I'm like, I don't want to know your sleep score.
- 42:16SPEAKER_03: I don't can we talk about anything because if you're telling me your sleep score, usually you're complaining about it.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: And otherwise, like no one runs in, I'm so excited at the best sleep score.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: I mean, every once in a while I have a friend who like loves her sleep score, which is like, I'm high five, I'm glad you had a good sleep score.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: But oftentimes, like you wake up and you're like, I know the first thing I usually say to my boyfriend is, oh, I slept so well, or I didn't sleep well.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Well, let's say I'm like, oh, I slept so well.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: I feel great.
- 42:46SPEAKER_03: And then I look at my aura ring, it's like, oh, your HRV is like in the tank and rest today.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:51SPEAKER_03: Well, first of all, I'm not gonna listen to that, my personality, like, unless I like know I had a terrible sleep.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: But if I think I had a good sleep and I feel good, I'm gonna go live the day based on that, not because a ring told me that I had a shitty night's sleep, even though I feel great.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: And then vice versa.
- 43:09SPEAKER_03: Like, let's say I know I slept for four hours and not seven, and for some reason my ring is like ding ding ding.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: Like you want, even though you slept only four hours, everything is like perfect.
- 43:19SPEAKER_03: I just think we sometimes like use that data instead of listening to our bodies.
- 43:23SPEAKER_03: And I think that goes similar to the scale.
- 43:26SPEAKER_03: It's like all this stuff is important to touch base.
- 43:28SPEAKER_03: You know, if you are struggling, like, okay, let me figure this out.
- 43:32SPEAKER_03: Like, okay, yes, my blood sugar is definitely spiking in the middle of the night.
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: I can see it in my ring.
- 43:37SPEAKER_03: Like, I think there are some things that where the data is really important, and then I think there's a time when we just need to like put it on the side and check back in with ourselves, like the caveman did, and be like, how do I feel?
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: Like, how do I truly feel?
- 43:50SPEAKER_03: Okay, I want to dive into a couple things.
- 43:52SPEAKER_03: I want to make sure we get this in before I get told I don't have time.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: Talk to me about your clients using trisepati.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: versus Red of True Tide and the back and forth and how in your because I use it in a very specific and particular way with my coaching and I'm curious a what you see and then how do you use it and differentiate what client kind of needs which GLP and for what reasons.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: So across the board I am I I always tell people I'm like the most conservative person on the planet.
- 44:23SPEAKER_02: With all of the peptides but especially with the GLPs because I think our bodies are brilliantly made and we just need to figure out what we need to add to nudge your body into the direction that it needs to go so that you get your desired outcome.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: And starting with a less is more approach for sure.
- 44:44SPEAKER_02: So um you know that's just the mindset I take with all my clients and especially when they get into the peptide space it's just kind of like Disneyland and they see all these buzzwords of like all the things that it can help with for all these other peptides and they want to take everything all at once and I'm like no we are going to start with one thing um maybe two like I like to pair uh trazeptide or retitrutide with BPC depending on the person.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: But typically I just start to I just start with the one thing so that we can really get the hang of like how they are responding to that one thing and what their body cues are and then we can slowly build up on that specific thing until we find their sweet spot or we can start to add on things once we find that sweet spot and they're good and they want to start working on other things.
- 45:36SPEAKER_02: So as far as Trisepotide and redotrutide how I decide between the two um I always say red atrutide is kind of like the really cool older big sister that shows up every once in a while and she's like here with all the fun stories and cool things and she kind of and trusepitide is like the really fun aunt who is just really fun to talk to but she you know you know she does a lot but she's kind of a little bit more behind the scenes with all the things that she does.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: And so people who experience more food noise or more anxiety in general or just need something that's a little less intense on the nervous system, I will typically recommend that they start with something like truseptide because it is one of my favorite peptides.
- 46:29SPEAKER_02: I've microdosed it myself and one of the coolest things that I've noticed with it is how much clearer my brain is like I feel just like so level and like my resilience and comeback rate is so much faster.
- 46:43SPEAKER_02: Like I'm a very busy person like you and so it's just like yes hurt things happen stressful things happen and it's not that I'm spiritually bypassing those things.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: There are times where it's just like you gotta acknowledge it.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: You put it on the shelf so that you can read that book later and you just move on with the next thing.
- 47:03SPEAKER_02: And so that's one of the kind of frameworks that I take into consideration when I'm making recommendations for people with trusepatite versus retta.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: Retta though I really love it just because that glucagon agnes that has its own pathway and helping shuttle nutrients back into the muscle and helping preserve more muscle mass over the long term that's kind of my default one especially for the woman who is like going and she's working out already and she just needs like a little extra bump to decrease inflammation and finally get the weight to come off that one is like incredible.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: I mean I love them both so much.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: But that's the birds I've done and they're different.
- 47:45SPEAKER_03: I think you described it really really well um and most of my clients are very open to my suggestion.
- 47:52SPEAKER_03: Like they might come in and be excited about Retta because they it's all of the internet and you hear all these stories and then I explain to them like hey listen like this is how I view the two of them given your goals and given some of the stuff that you want to work with and your you know what what I'm seeing your blood work I would love for you to start here.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: I start most people on trisepotite uh lean and burn I mean lean because a couple a couple reasons like you said it I think it's it does kick in a little quicker.
- 48:19SPEAKER_03: I think it gets you a little without you know there's there's some you know red is I love mean that's what I microdose right now is like that's that's the peptide that's helped me.
- 48:28SPEAKER_03: I tend to have people start on Retta if they're at they don't want to lose much weight they want to change their body composition a little bit they don't have a lot of anxiety they're they're they want to fine tune right I think it's a really really powerful fine tuning one and you can stay really low and have a lot of effects for it.
- 48:49SPEAKER_03: I think on trisepatide I think what's great is like if someone wants to be like I need to lose 10 pounds I'm like they're not going to want to be as patient as I'm gonna probably need them to be to put them on such a low dose of Retta.
- 49:00SPEAKER_03: So I'm like let's let's start here and the fun thing is kind of you said it's like you know this an older sister versus the ant I always say like the great news is not neither one are going anywhere.
- 49:13SPEAKER_03: And by the way I take a lot of people who are on Retta back to to trzepatide because just taking out the percentage of GLP and GIP and upping it a little bit on still a microdose of trisepatite, they can their whole body almost recognizes it as a new compound in its system is like, oh here we go.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: It's a great jump start.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: So like playing with the two as you're dealing with a client who's been on it for a long time or having some stalling or some side effects that they might not like.
- 49:43SPEAKER_03: But I don't necessarily the newest is best.
- 49:45SPEAKER_03: You know I said just because it's like the newest iPhone like oh you want the better phone I mean the camera but there's some systems that work really well in the older phone that are less complicated or whatever whatever it is.
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: But I think really understanding why you are taking a certain peptide of any sort and making sure it's the right for you based on not only your goals that you're saying like there's some other things that can happen as a side effect that like what are you more predispositioned to be like yeah and what what does your blood work look like too because someone who has a lipid panel that looks like it's on fire is like well we should probably maybe add something to like be more aggressive about that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: So that's where I really like the research behind REDT so far is all of the metabolic and lipid uh markers for people who are taking RETA are just decreasing so much faster compared to trusepatide.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:40SPEAKER_02: But again it it is a little bit of a heavier hitter and so that's may not be right for every other person and that's where you can incorporate other peptides to address more of those things in addition to truse.
- 50:54SPEAKER_03: It's so fun.
- 50:55SPEAKER_03: I mean it's so fun being able to like nerd out with you about this kind of stuff because it is not a one it's not a one size fits all A.
- 51:03SPEAKER_03: And B, I think and this is why we you know I'm hoping that you're loving this part of loop too is just like being community is so much more fun.
- 51:10SPEAKER_03: And I think for my clients and your clients just being able to chat and chat groups with other women and like it's great that they have me but I just I think they learn also so much more just from like you know a random person they met online that's being vulnerable and sharing their story.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: They're like oh I'm not alone I can tell them they're not alone all day long.
- 51:29SPEAKER_03: But when it's coming from the horse's mouth and saying wow this one feels like or they had the exact same experience that I had I thought I was an outlier but this is kind of how I feel I just as we grow and learn more about peptides and more peptides come to the market I just think the community is going to grow more and more and just that aspect is going to be so important.
- 51:49SPEAKER_03: It's sounds okay this is going to be such a strange analogy analogy but it's kind of like when you have like the AA community right or you have a community that is like really focused on like I don't know music festivals or whatever your jam is right if you're a hippie everyone kind of has like these are my people I don't know if I'm doing good analogy of explaining it to them but I do feel like when you're kind of like oh no these are my peptide people like we all kind of speak the same language at least for me I find it like very interesting.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: Like I hate leaving a dinner table sometimes being like oh we talked about was your interior designer and your pillow where I'm like shoot me versus if I find a like minded person right and you're like wow I left that conversation just feeling so much more inspired and excited.
- 52:35SPEAKER_03: So that's I just think that's what's so fun about what we're creating and you being part of it and kind of all of this.
- 52:40SPEAKER_03: Okay so now you have to be deal with my rapid fire questions since CJ gave us the five in the morning.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 52:45SPEAKER_03: So if you could go back Sina to your 20ish year old self pick an era around there what would you tell her of your advice be oh man I mean first I'm like thinking about how I love being my age now.
- 53:04SPEAKER_02: Actually my birthday is tomorrow so I'm like really have been thinking about this a lot.
- 53:07SPEAKER_03: How old are you?
- 53:08SPEAKER_03: I'm turning 32 tomorrow oh my God you earned such a beautiful time of your life yeah wow I'm so envious that you're so smart and you the fact that you know so much at your age about peptides and how like you're gonna sail through the next chapter that I'm sitting in.
- 53:27SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah it's I love getting older like I definitely really resonated with you when you're like I'm in my 50s and like I'm not trying to do the comparison thing because like as I've gotten older I'm like man I just like feel really like cool with myself and if it continues like this I'm all about getting older.
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: Um I think I would tell her my 20 year old self I mean to be quite blunt I would uh tell her to chill the fuck out yes I love that like that's I mean I was so high strung and just the definition of like you have to be militant about everything.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: Like every second planned perfectly and if you deviate you're a failure and like just super super hard on myself.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: And as I've gotten older it's like yes like you have to have a plan and you know a rhythm so that you stay on track with things.
- 54:19SPEAKER_02: But the more fun you can have in your life like it makes all the hard stuff like way less intense and yeah so I guess the PG version would be to just have more fun.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: Like loosen up have more fun and you're gonna really notice that like things click in a lot faster when you're having fun too.
- 54:40SPEAKER_03: I love that that's that's actually great like advice for anybody I think in general no matter what age you are but the fact that you can see and you're only so you're turning 32?
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 54:49SPEAKER_02: Ah well happy birthday baby girl you can be like my daughter all right so um what's a daily like non-negotiable that you have uh daily non-negotiable I have is um I mean I like have to sleep with my eye mask.
- 55:15SPEAKER_02: Oh girl I got one of those Manta eye masks and it's like total blackout but it has Bluetooth headphones so then I can listen to my sleep meditation while I'm laying in bed.
- 55:28SPEAKER_02: And um it is just lovely.
- 55:31SPEAKER_02: I absolutely love it and I look like a steampunk freak sleeping next to my husband.
- 55:38SPEAKER_02: He actually thinks it's really cute because I'll have like my manta eye mask on with my sleep sounds and then I have my mouth tape but underneath my mouth I have my retainer and mouth guard.
- 55:48SPEAKER_02: So I am like football player steampunk princess just like living my best life.
- 55:55SPEAKER_03: Isn't it the best?
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: I mean I like the the days of like sexy going to bed have changed.
- 55:59SPEAKER_03: I'm like oh yeah my mouth tape I have my eye mask I have like my sound machine on like level like seven um I mean everything has to be pristinely perfect.
- 56:09SPEAKER_03: It's so funny I think as like but it works and the like I think the sleep thing is hands down I'd say the same thing it's just like such a big piece.
- 56:17SPEAKER_02: Okay so like what's a guilty pleasure that you have you're like uh it's not at the end of the day it's not the guilty oh okay so my guilty pleasure um I've recently decided that like TikTok comment sections are like my ultimate favorite guilty pleasure to read um and then I love reading the reviews on like things I want to buy online so like if it's like Sephora reading the reviews there or like Amazon I I just love the comment sections.
- 56:45SPEAKER_02: I think they're so funny and like unhinged.
- 56:48SPEAKER_02: Well something's like reality TV or like I can just like like I can just get taken away in these yeah yeah I I think it's so funny.
- 56:58SPEAKER_02: I mean and then as far as like uh like food or drinks go um I love a good glass of champagne I'm a bubble squirrel I love a good espresso martini and French fries with ranch oh yeah so good I love all those things okay so this is a harder one if you had to pick one peptide like what's your favorite peptide oh so hard I mean I have absolutely loved how I have felt on a microdose of trizeptide I think it's incredible again just like what it has done for my brain um is really amazing my second favorite which I'm really trying hard to decide between the two but I love Cselank.
- 57:43SPEAKER_02: I think Cselank is so it is so good.
- 57:49SPEAKER_03: I love Celank so much wait that's so funny because that was on Hunter Williams podcast and he they asked me my favorite peptide and I said Silenc and like literally his wife was like that was not expected.
- 58:02SPEAKER_03: That's so interesting we have the same one yeah yeah yeah I mean that that's I'm off of it right now and I definitely feel it like I'm on C Max and to me C Max has not hit like Selenc.
- 58:13SPEAKER_03: Like it's just it's different brain pathways for me for sure.
- 58:17SPEAKER_03: Alright this is actually a good one and we're to end on for your birthday.
- 58:20SPEAKER_03: So where do you see yourself in the next 20 years?
- 58:24SPEAKER_02: Ooh in the next 20 years um I see myself I mean I think my my biggest goal again is like and I I kind of hinted at this earlier but I wrote an email about it is like I just really want to be a part of the movement where women feel empowered to say and feel like they're hot and look like they're hot.
- 58:48SPEAKER_02: And so whatever that looks like for me 20 years from now maybe it's speaking on stages maybe I have my own podcast by then I just really want to be a part of a community of women and a part of a movement where we all feel empowered enough to say that about ourselves and not feel any shame or guilt about owning that within ourselves too.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: So that's what I see and I also see lots of travel and spoiling my future nieces and nephews.
- 59:15SPEAKER_02: I don't have any yet but I know I'm gonna be that cool aunt at the dinner table.
- 59:19SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 59:19SPEAKER_02: Yes you you already are by the way oh thank you thank you thank you so yeah that's kind of that's kind of like the 20 year thing I think I'm definitely more of a feelings manifester um and I just know it's gonna be really really fun.
- 59:35SPEAKER_03: Well you're on the right path I'm like I'm super excited to have you part of our community and Lori and I it's it's interesting that I brought it up because that is our theme right now is just like and we're so much older than you but just like really owning who you are and saying like I I hate the word vain but just saying like no I I want to like I want to look hot.
- 59:54SPEAKER_03: And I think looking hot like we said is a feeling and so I think we should end on that for everybody it's just like how do we just want to feel and look our best at any age right and it's like it is more of a mindset than I think it is of anything else.
- 1:00:08SPEAKER_03: Like I think it all connects together.
- 1:00:11SPEAKER_03: And so having coaches like you and tools and just like I encourage everyone just be curious guys like if you're wondering like sign up like get a coach inquire more like listen to these podcasts because knowledge is power and just not being black and white thinking and being curious.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_03: So I think we should end there.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_03: Come to Newport on the 20th for our RL.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_03: We're gonna get all the information out there but if you can make it it's it'll be fun to see in person.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_02: Definitely we'll make it a priority because I've seen like a few things like pop up for that weekend but as soon as you said I'm like I'm in I'll be there.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_03: All right okay let's block it off.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_03: All right well thank you for coming on and I can't wait to see you and be part of loop and everything that you're doing for such a young age your powerhouse badass.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_03: So happy birthday thank you thank you for having me it was fun um bye until next time thank you for tuning in
