- 0:00Have you ever noticed how easy it is to rush through your life as a mom?
- 0:06We spend so much time managing schedules, thinking ahead, taking care of everyone around
- 0:13us that eventually life can just feel emotionally flat.
- 0:19And even when there are good things all around us, and especially moms going into summer
- 0:26when our routines are changing, the house gets louder, busier, it's really important
- 0:32that we learn how to create more space and peace and abundance in our everyday lives.
- 0:39And if that's something you've been craving lately, you are in luck because I've got three
- 0:45excellent ways for you to make this average week feel abundant.
- 0:51If you're tired of people pleasing, caring too much, and wondering why peace still feels
- 0:57so hard to hold on to, you're in the right place.
- 1:00Hi, I'm Lori, mom, former people pleaser, and your boundaries coach.
- 1:06Here we talk about how to protect your peace, set healthier boundaries, and get clear on
- 1:11what actually matters so that you can build a life that feels lighter, calmer, and more
- 1:17satisfying.
- 1:18So let's stop the chaos for a minute, moms, catch our breath, and get into this next episode.
- 1:28Welcome back to Healthy Boundaries for Moms.
- 1:30This is your midweek reset.

- 1:38up five free one-on-one coaching sessions soon for moms who are feeling overwhelmed,
- 1:46emotionally exhausted, stuck in the people pleasing loop, or just needing help creating
- 1:52healthier rhythms, boundaries, and more peace in your everyday lives.
- 1:58These spots are definitely going to fill up quickly, so be on the lookout for that announcement.
- 2:05And I'll also have links down in the show notes, so be looking for that.
- 2:09It will have a link for the Healthy Boundaries for Moms Facebook group and the weekly newsletter
- 2:14so that you can stay connected and encouraged throughout the week.
- 2:18So today we're talking about the three ways to make an average week feel abundant.
- 2:25And honestly, I think this is something a lot of moms are craving right about now, because
- 2:30I think many of us are living in survival mode without even realizing it.
- 2:36We are just constantly mentally carrying things, rushing from one thing to another, and eventually
- 2:43life can just feel flat, even when we have great things going on all around us.
- 2:50So what is the first way that we can create this abundance?
- 2:55We are going to look at creating space.
- 2:59I think this is one of the biggest reasons life stops feeling abundant, is because we
- 3:03stop leaving space for anything, right?
- 3:07We have no space in our schedules, there's no space in our homes, no space in our minds.
- 3:13Emotionally, again, no space.
- 3:16We're just constantly mentally carrying things around.
- 3:20We're thinking ahead, we're managing those schedules that our kids have, we're solving
- 3:25problems left and right, and we're anticipating needs that haven't even shown up yet.
- 3:32And we're just trying to keep everything running smoothly.
- 3:36And eventually, even the good things start weighing us down, because there's no margin
- 3:44left.
- 3:45There's no room.
- 3:46So here's a verse in Ecclesiastes 4.6 that says, better one handful with tranquility
- 3:53than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.
- 3:59And honestly, I think so many moms have two, three, four handfuls, but no peace.
- 4:07We have those full schedules and full calendars, our brains are mentally full, but internally
- 4:16we feel so exhausted and emotionally stretched thin.
- 4:21And sometimes abundance starts by removing things instead of adding things.
- 4:27We are so used to just adding more and more things.
- 4:32Not every empty space needs to be filled.
- 4:36I mean, there's a mom out there that I think really needs to hear this.
- 4:39Not every empty space needs to be filled.
- 4:44Not every summer activity has to be a yes, okay?
- 4:49And not every moment needs a bunch of noise or productivity or stimulation, because I
- 4:56don't know about you, sometimes abundance to me looks like a slower morning.
- 5:02It's a quieter, peaceful evening.
- 5:06It's when my schedule is less packed and it's when I can say no without guilt.
- 5:13So this creates margin so your nervous system can actually breathe again.
- 5:20And I think when we create this space externally, we start feeling spacious internally too.
- 5:28They affect each other.
- 5:31So here's the second thing we can do.
- 5:35Let's increase the quality of our lives.
- 5:39This is the second way we can take an average week and make it feel abundant, okay?
- 5:45And I don't mean making your life more expensive or more impressive to other people.
- 5:50I mean just more intentional, more rich, and more connected.
- 5:55Because I think sometimes we confuse abundance with access, expense, when really abundance
- 6:02is often just depth.
- 6:05It's deeper conversations with our friends and our loved ones.
- 6:09It's more intentional moments and being present, enjoying things slowly instead of rushing
- 6:17through them and trying to get them knocked out.
- 6:20Kids often remember connection more than constant entertainment.
- 6:27And honestly, I think that this is moms too.
- 6:30Maybe that's why putting your phone away during dinner can make for such good conversation.
- 6:37Or how about when you plan a date night?
- 6:39Or take a family walk?
- 6:41We do that a lot in our family.
- 6:43We go for walks in our neighborhood, and those are our best moments as a family.
- 6:47How about just laughing out loud with a friend, like a good belly laugh?
- 6:52Slowing down enough to realize that listening to your kids is really keying you in to what's
- 6:59going on in their lives right now.
- 7:02How about creating simple family traditions, like Taco Tuesday?
- 7:07We've even done Taco Tuesday on a Monday in our family.
- 7:11But these are fun family traditions.
- 7:13Being emotionally present instead of mentally distracted.
- 7:18Because abundance is often less about having more and doing more and experiencing more
- 7:25things.
- 7:26It's about being deeper in the moment and being present.
- 7:31So number three, I want you to plan small escapes that restore you.
- 7:38So we've all had a vacation on the books, and we've all been excited and looking forward
- 7:42to it.
- 7:43But I want you to learn that you can create these small escapes throughout your week to
- 7:48look forward to.
- 7:51This is going to really make it feel abundant to intentionally plan these small escapes
- 7:56that are going to restore you.
- 7:58And I don't mean you need to drop your life and get out.
- 8:02I mean, just create moments that help you reconnect with yourself, to your peace and
- 8:08to God.
- 8:10Especially as moms, we are spending so much time pouring out of ourselves emotionally,
- 8:15mentally, physically, relationally.
- 8:17We leave ourselves drained and we never intentionally refill ourselves.
- 8:24And eventually we start functioning completely depleted on empty tanks.
- 8:30And that's why I think it's important to create something to look forward to every
- 8:35single week.
- 8:36And it doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate.
- 8:39Maybe it's something simple like a hot bath after the kids go to bed or drive with worship
- 8:44music in the windows down, sitting outside with your coffee on the porch or walking through
- 8:49a bookstore with no agenda.
- 8:52I personally love to grab a coffee at a coffee shop, at a library or a bookstore and just
- 8:59grab a magazine or a book that I've been wanting to look at and just have time quietly
- 9:04in that library or in that bookstore.
- 9:08How about going to a park you've never been to before?
- 9:11Listening to calming like meditation music.
- 9:14You could go for a walk in your neighborhood or wherever that you would like to go for
- 9:18a walk.
- 9:19Go get your nails done or just create a peaceful evening at home, a dinner by candlelight.
- 9:26Or maybe you're going to just read a book you haven't read at home.
- 9:30Research actually shows that nature, music, beauty and calming environments help to lower
- 9:37stress hormones and improve your mood.
- 9:40So God designed our bodies to respond to beauty, quiet, rest, music and nature.
- 9:46We see this in Psalm 23 where it says, he leads me beside quiet waters.
- 9:53He restores my soul.
- 9:56I think a lot of moms are spiritually and emotionally exhausted because we rarely slow
- 10:01down long enough to let ourselves be restored.
- 10:05Sometimes abundance is not about adding more responsibilities and more accomplishments.
- 10:11Sometimes abundance just looks like creating moments where your soul can finally breathe
- 10:17again.
- 10:18So ladies, as we move into our summer and our routines begin shifting, I really want
- 10:24to encourage you not to wait for some future version of life to finally feel peaceful or
- 10:31abundant.
- 10:32I want you to start creating it now.
- 10:34I want you to create more space, increase the quality of your life and intentionally
- 10:39create moments that are going to restore you.
- 10:42I really believe abundance often comes from attention, from you noticing the sunset, your
- 10:49kids are laughing, there's a peaceful moment, good music, a quiet drive and a conversation
- 10:55with your spouse.
- 10:57Sometimes we are praying for things that we are already living inside of, the family,
- 11:03the home, the answered prayer, the slower season you once begged God for.
- 11:09In 1 Timothy 6, 6 it says, but godliness with contentment is great gain.
- 11:15Contentment is not complacency, okay?
- 11:19It is learning how to recognize goodness that we are living every day in our lives.
- 11:26Because maybe abundance isn't about building a bigger life.
- 11:30Maybe it's finally learning how to fully live the one you have already.
