- 0:00What's going on, everybody, and what's going on, folks? My name is David,
- 0:04and I'm your legendary host of this legendary podcast, the Deconstructed Topic Podcast.
- 0:11And once again, we got always a good one, always a good one.
- 0:16I'm over here, and I hope you're all doing well, my legendary people that are
- 0:19listening out there, that it's day one, day two, or you're brand new to this podcast.
- 0:25You know, we grab a little topic, and we kind of deconstructed the D-Wig,
- 0:29Which is, hey, that's my name, David. Let's go.
- 0:32Let's go. But today, I got a little story, story time.
- 0:37And it's one of those things that off the bat, I'm just going to tell you off
- 0:42the bat that this is a little podcast episodes in regards to where us as humans,
- 0:48we kind of tend to get caught,
- 0:51in these situations where we kind of feel like we kind of live in a cycle.
- 0:56You know and you repeat that cycle and it is the same patterns over and you know it kind of feels,
- 1:03in a sense deja vu but hey listen we're gonna talk about it now I'm not here
- 1:08to kind of tell you how to break your cycle because only you can but I'm here
- 1:13that one of the things that we need to do,
- 1:15when it comes to situations like that is we need to acknowledge what we can't do,
- 1:22and I did tell you that I do got a story time, so grab everybody out there that
- 1:25is listening, wherever you're listening to my podcast, crank it, you know.
- 1:32And be respectful for others in case that you crank it in a little bit too much.
- 1:37By all means, if you want to crank it on the train, you know,
- 1:41your little portable radio, by all means, people are probably going to be like,
- 1:44wow, this guy makes sense. And, you know, I actually thought about that.
- 1:50Kind of cranking my podcast because, once again, it's not radio or anything
- 1:54like that. It's not noise that's going to bother people. but my soothing voice
- 1:59will probably be like, huh, yo, I like this cat right here. Who that?
- 2:04But anyways, it is a deconstructing type of podcast. Take a deep breath when
- 2:08you're listening to my podcast. And once again, always put yourself in a situation.
- 2:14And in this one, in this episode where we kind of, I know people are going to
- 2:18probably sit down and wonder. It's like, wow, cycle. Like, you know,
- 2:23what is a pattern? What is a cycle that we kind of fall into?
- 2:27Hit the like button The like button is always appreciated In these channels,
- 2:31Wherever you're listening to my podcast And always, as always Feel free to share
- 2:36And there's a lot of people I always said in my podcast The motto is,
- 2:41Saving a mind is saving a life,
- 2:45And it was not too long ago.
- 2:47You know what? It was long ago, but not too long ago, right?
- 2:51And I find myself where I'm waking up today, ready to go to the gym,
- 2:55you know, set the tone, work, whatever it is, you know, a little bit of that balance.
- 3:00And, you know, I call a cab, and then as I, you know, get into the cab,
- 3:05me and the gentleman is having a conversation.
- 3:09And, you know, the conversation within five minutes came about,
- 3:12you know, out of nowhere.
- 3:14The dude was kind of feeling a little bit compelling. and I'm not going to say
- 3:16probably, okay, maybe 10 minutes, was compelled to kind of like,
- 3:20you know, there's a little, how can I say, his part with his things that he
- 3:24needs to address and so on and so forth, you know, in his household, he's working.
- 3:29I'm a little bit extra these days, you know, to do that thing thing.
- 3:33And the next thing I'm like, you know, that's interesting because I do got a,
- 3:37podcast. Here's my card.
- 3:40Check it out. And I even give him one of my cards or business cards with my
- 3:45info and my text if you need someone to talk to. And let me tell you something.
- 3:50That young brother fell elated. They was like, oh, my God, thank,
- 3:54you know, the Lord. I think everything happens for a reason for putting me in here.
- 3:59And, you know, you being a passenger, oh, my God, yo, this is a special moment
- 4:03because I've been thinking about doing a podcast and so on and so forth,
- 4:06but I don't even know where to start. So I'm like, okay, hold on.
- 4:10I appreciate the umbrella. Once I got off the cab, as I'm walking to the trainer,
- 4:16I start to get this sense.
- 4:17Now, it's not a sense of deja vu out of nowhere, but it's more of a calculated
- 4:22deja vu that you kind of sense, okay, I've seen this movie before.
- 4:27I've heard this before. I've been in that situation before.
- 4:33You know, and you start to kind of like, okay, because I always said,
- 4:37and it's very key, The moment, especially if you wake up in the morning,
- 4:40the way you set your day, the way you set the first hour of your day,
- 4:44it's what most likely is going to transpire for the rest of the day.
- 4:50I'm over here taking the public transportation, the train.
- 4:53I go to the gym and, you know, I'm having a decent workout. And then,
- 4:57you know, it's funny as I'm having a workout, then I can say I was just not feeling up to par.
- 5:03And I do recall why I was not feeling up to par. And then the day before,
- 5:07you know, I ate something where I felt that like, wait a minute,
- 5:10I kind of got sick before, but it tastes good.
- 5:12You know, ever been in that situation that you know that you're going to eat
- 5:16something that doesn't do you good, but you still managed to eat it because it was good?
- 5:21So it's you fighting that little kind of thing in your gut instinct,
- 5:25like, baby, don't eat it, whatever.
- 5:27So I'm not feeling up to par, you know, feel a little bit nauseous,
- 5:32whatever the case might be. And then I'm like, damn, after I'm done with the
- 5:36gym, you know, I love my gym brothers and sister. They try to pep me up.
- 5:40But I'm like, damn, I've seen this movie before.
- 5:44I've, you know, basically it's that same moment of deja vu. Amen to that.
- 5:48You know, the situation with the young brother in the cab, the same situation,
- 5:53kind of similar to what's happening. I'm like, okay, you know,
- 5:57David's going to say amen to that. You know, I'm just saying,
- 5:59you know, amen. That's, you know, confirmation. But amen. Praise the Lord, right? Thank you.
- 6:04And I'm over here doing my thing that I, you know, do my professional thing.
- 6:08And again, a couple of things that, you know, needed to be addressed.
- 6:11And I'm like, damn, I feel like I'm been and I've seen this movie before.
- 6:17And it just starts to think and I'm like, okay, huh.
- 6:22So what do you do in that situation? It's midday. You're already going through
- 6:25these little cycles that life, it just continues.
- 6:29And then to top it off, there's a situation I'm going to tell you.
- 6:32And I want to say, when I say I'm networking, networking for me and for those,
- 6:37my audience out there, they'd be like, oh, what does that word mean?
- 6:40Networking. I'm always hearing networking. People that are close to me, networking.
- 6:44Networking to me, it could be self-explanatory, but it's basically anything
- 6:50that's anything to talk about my podcast.
- 6:54Whether I, you know, I just met a stranger or I went to a calculated little
- 6:59bar there, you know what I mean?
- 7:01Whether I go online, on my socials, boom, boom, boom That's what networking
- 7:06is And in the train, my beautiful public transportation here in New York City Ow!
- 7:13That's a whole different store As I'm doing this networking,
- 7:17there's a story developing.
- 7:20I'm not going to try to engage in details here. But on that day when I'm feeling
- 7:25like this cycle, where I'm living in, not just living a cycle,
- 7:29you live in a movie the whole day.
- 7:33When you've seen this movie before, you heard this story before,
- 7:36it is that thing where your mind, you're going to be like, damn,
- 7:39okay, what can I do different?
- 7:42There's a movie out there for those people out there that love movies.
- 7:45There's a movie called Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. This is an old movie,
- 7:49you know, from the 90s, I believe, early 90s, if I'm not mistaken.
- 7:53You know, the movie, it's one of those comedy, drama, whatever it is.
- 7:58And then, you know, it sets in the day of Groundhog Day for those people out
- 8:02there. Groundhog Day is that day that they grab this animal that is a groundhog,
- 8:06I believe in Pennsylvania or somewhere.
- 8:09And basically during the month of, what is it, February or the first week of
- 8:13February. Okay, how's the winter going to be?
- 8:16But in this movie, the premise of the movie is that this person starts to wake
- 8:20up every day, living the same life until he starts to realize,
- 8:24okay, what can I do different?
- 8:26Do anything that I do could change the outcome of the whole day.
- 8:32And of course, obviously, that would be one. But then you got to acknowledge
- 8:36what's going on, what's in front of me.
- 8:38As I'm in the train, again, that's a little story developing with somebody that I'm networking.
- 8:44And looking at the person from afar and I'm saying to myself,
- 8:49geez, I've seen this movie before.
- 8:54I've seen this story before. I mean, I'm sorry. I've heard this story before.
- 8:59It's a cycle that we just like, wow.
- 9:03So again, what's the lesson to learn here?
- 9:06We already know how life is. We're going to have more downs than up.
- 9:12I always say, look at sometimes in life, nine out of 10 times,
- 9:16something bad is going to happen. Somebody's going to get sick.
- 9:19People will pass away. There's going to be emergencies that you have no control,
- 9:23But what is it that you do that one time that something good happens?
- 9:28What are you going to do with it?
- 9:30And I'm not saying that we should expect that 9 out of 10 things that happen in our life.
- 9:36But a lot of times that comes from the cycles that we can't seem to break.
- 9:42So we got to kind of think about, okay, what does our cycle comes in?
- 9:46You know, because, you know, with stress comes procrastination,
- 9:50comes that thing of guilt, More stress you feel You know And hey listen I'm
- 9:54wanting to say That I got little demons You know In my closet You know I love to network.
- 10:01I love to network But I found myself Hey You know But networking And I'm Having
- 10:07beers at the same time I mean That's all cool and dandy Until you wake up the
- 10:11next day You be like You know,
- 10:15Loneliness Isolation,
- 10:17You start to feel like a failure You start doubting yourself You start avoiding everything,
- 10:22And these are these little patterns That I did mention That hey listen If there's
- 10:27one thing about this episode And again I'm not here,
- 10:32What can I say? We all have our little cycle to break.
- 10:36But what I'm here is to kind of remind you, or at least pep you up,
- 10:40that we have to acknowledge some of our patterns.
- 10:44You know, we become too comfortable. We believe in something,
- 10:48but we can't kind of like not break it, you know?
- 10:51Sometimes we got like a little bit of lack of awareness of what's going on.
- 10:55Like we can't change the pattern. Like, wait a minute.
- 10:57What can we do that's different? What did you say yesterday that could be different today?
- 11:03Can it be that if the same thing is happening, it's that you're doing exactly the same thing?
- 11:08Once again, we got to break these little patterns, these little cycles, these little things.
- 11:13I remember years ago, there was a very endearing friend of mine who basically
- 11:19was saying, damn, why do I feel like there's always something happening?
- 11:23It's not me getting sick, there's somebody in my family, and it's a cycle.
- 11:27And look, respectfully so We must understand the world that we live in Because
- 11:32living in this world I mean, hey, listen We're all going to breathe,
- 11:36some air That's not good for us We're all going to eat something that's going
- 11:39to harm us We're all going to drink something that's going to harm us We're
- 11:42all going to do something,
- 11:43But the one thing that we can control,
- 11:47Is our emotions in terms of What we can control,
- 11:51And in life we shouldn't be Those in that spot Where we're going to harm others because hey, listen,
- 11:57this is why we're going to fall into the same pattern.
- 12:00So breaking that pattern, acknowledging it, you know, you got to identify what's
- 12:06triggering, what's triggering that thing that up.
- 12:10That cycle. What do you do when you wake up? And listen, I've heard some people
- 12:15say, listen, you know, hey, same stuff, you know, same prep. What does that mean?
- 12:20Oh, I'm over here hanging in there. You know, what does that mean?
- 12:23When somebody tells me I'm hanging in there, I tell them, hey,
- 12:25listen, go to a discount, go to Target, go to somewhere, Amazon,
- 12:29get a new pair of hangers.
- 12:31You know? But we got to identify that stuff. We got to kind of interrupt that
- 12:35routine. We got to practice somewhat of a new response.
- 12:40You know, one time not too long ago, I was in a, you know, taking my little
- 12:43cab, you know, to the train station and I started engaging in,
- 12:49you know, what's going on with the city when it comes to crime.
- 12:51Like, hey, I've lived in New York City and crime has always been a thing. But you know what?
- 12:57Towards the end of the ride, I kind of flipped. Like, OK, what can we do?
- 13:01What can we set our sights on something positive? You know what I mean?
- 13:06Because if we always, you know, focus on those little things That's why I say
- 13:09when we focus on certain things that are negative That backfires,
- 13:15I mean, not backfires, but it reflects you,
- 13:18And then you start to live at it You start to live, you know,
- 13:21with that cycle If in this place there's a cycle of crime And then we thinking
- 13:25about it, we always got that in our mind Obviously, you want to be aware of
- 13:29your surroundings Then we live that,
- 13:32So breaking the cycle It's not just something where you could just be like Okay,
- 13:37you have to make that decision What are you going to do?
- 13:40It takes a lot of things, man But the choices And start practicing Something different.
- 13:48Always remember is this and then I always tell people you're not don't let habits
- 13:53dictate your life now I'm one to say that we kind of live the past the present
- 13:58and the future all at once,
- 14:00but you're not the past you know you're not you know you're the cycles that
- 14:04are happening it's it's cycles it's not a bad cycle it's not good cycles for
- 14:09the most part these are not good cycles that's why we kind of wake up with that stress.
- 14:14But just remember that day that you had a wonderful day.
- 14:17What happened that day? What was that cycle about?
- 14:21Because if it's a pattern that you're going to start to learn,
- 14:25hey, listen, you could always apply it again, you know, relearn it.
- 14:30Because, you know, if you want to start, and if we all want to start something
- 14:35new, then you got to kind of take that moment to stop repeating that story that
- 14:40you always told yourself,
- 14:43acknowledge the cycle and address it don't end and start the day oh here we go again,
- 14:52because the cycle will end and you will start a new one and eventually a new
- 14:56one will come in but seize the moment to what extent you're gonna say not this time,
- 15:03not this time all right my peoples this is the constructing topic podcast feel

- 15:31those cycles and start new patterns.
- 15:34All right, take care. I'm out of here. It's your boy, Deconstructing Topic Podcast. I'm out. Peace.
