- 0:00during this process as I was going from a 65 inch waist somewhere in the low to mid thirties I had discovered that the best way having failed so many times trying to restrict calories it it almost came to a point where I was like well why even eat in the first place so then I started going down that rabbit hole he didn't seem to think it would be an issue to miss a meal or two so then of course as I always do I took it to an extreme and I started being able to become accustomed to not eating for longer periods of time one of the things that I found out as I was looking into the research and deciding whether to restrict calories or fast a lot of questions that I needed to have answered in support of my new position needed to happen so I started not just looking for proofs that showed that fasting was superior to Clark restriction I needed to also find the data and I know why that's a while that might not be important to some in order for me to have been successful and getting rid of all that body fat that takes time even when you're totally starving yourself even when you're not eating starvation is comes down to those last few moments of life I believe where you die as a result of not having any food and your body has ended up completing all eating all of its internal systems including that last component that it's gonna need to use for energy which would be after goes through all the fat all of the muscle a lot of organ it's gonna hit that brain and truly yes a person can die of starvation it takes it takes a lot of effort to get to that point and I would say that starvation is something that a human being is not as much in control of as fasting when people fast usually it's to maybe solve a medical condition lose some weight get closer with god get an answer to a universal or personal or some kind of question these are a lot of reasons why people won't eat also stress depression those things also cost people not to eat when I was doing the research I realized that as a result of not eating your body goes into ketosis because it starts to burn fat for fuel you've probably heard this the Atkins diet was something very similar now they have paleo and carnivore of course the substances that you're eating or pretty much low in carbohydrate but there's some variations as to where the origin of the meat and things come from and then what you're limited to some allowed dairy some don't some allow red meat some don't some allow you to have a few seasonable fruits seasonal fruits and vegetables some don't so there's a lot of rhyme and reason to the way things work but I had to do that research and find out more about it so what I ended up discovering and something you can look into as well and again before you do anything this is these are my experiences these are things that worked for me it necessarily might not be healthier good for anybody else to do that's why you need to do your research with your doctor but what I realize is that when a body goes into ketosis and that would include not eating getting into ketosis cause you can also do it by limiting your carbohydrates and when you do that because you burn through it after you have not eaten carbohydrates for 36 to 48 hours it's gonna depend your body stores some of that sugar in the liver so you have to burn through that but let's say you as an individual were not to eat any carbohydrates or an incredibly low amount less than 20 grams a day for example IE approaching diabetes maybe have pre diabetes or even diabetes it's gonna be a definite noticeable change in your blood sugar because while your blood sugar is gonna remain constant the blood sugar is gonna be obtained by a mechanism your body is able to do called gluconiogenesis where it actually will convert that stored body fat that you're burning it'll convert that into glucose for sugar for the cells that require the brain and these other things so your body fixes it as long as you have fat to burn starvation would potentially indicate you burn through all your fat and now you're going to organs and these other things it's an out of control thing that you don't have you don't have control over it cause you're starving right you don't have any food so that's where starvation is on other end of it we're talking about fat people obese people people with 5 10 15 pounds of fat 20 50 100 200 pounds of fat being able to conquer that system by using by utilizing the fasting so the doctor said you know Connor it's probably not gonna be a problem you missing a meal or two great so I took it a little bit further than that where I was missing multiple meals for multiple days and after I was able to get control over my refeeding the next meal the break fast that's how that's broken down when I was able to get control over breakfast that's when it started to work so not only has my research which would also follow line with fasting because then when you don't have any calories coming in your body goes through a change you're in for a treat because it probably isn't going to be easy in fact it's difficult just skipping a meal let alone not eating for multiple days in a row this might be something that your body very well needs but again you need to talk to your doctor first what I noticed is not only did my metabolism get to start to burn more calories as a result of stopping that incoming sugar and glucose because my insulin was so low it was burning ketones which is a very healthy fuel source and ketones are derived from store body fat at least in a carbohydrate that the typical American diet with the processed food in the carbohydrates you're gonna have a very difficult time getting to a caloric low where your body is going to have to tap into stored body fat it's probably not gonna touch it so every year you just get fatter you're losing muscle after 30 in a male and this continues to decline so if as as a kid if you were fat as I was and then as a teenager then as a young adult then as an older adult and you carry this fatness all the way through my solution for that for me was not eating for longer periods of time and once I started to wrap my mind around what the doctors were saying about in these it started become more and more mainline with the fasting with actually giving your body a break and then the type of food the consumption is also important if I blow it out every day and eat and over abundance of calories in a ketogenic diet or carnivore diet I will still be able to put on fat because I'm over eating but with that process it is a little bit more difficult I can eat a gallon of ice cream no problem in a sitting it's hard to eat a dozen hard boiled eggs in a city so while the caloric content I'm not sure if those are close probably not but let's say the total caloric content were the same and it was a dozen eggs and so much ice cream it was the same I would bet you dollars to donuts that if I were to go the ice cream route every day is my caloric needs we're gonna find out over time that calories aren't calories even if I'm eating an over abundance of calories but from eggs my body type and the way that I end up is gonna be a lot different more than likely less sick less insulin dependent less of any kind of a health issue if I were doing the egg route versus the daily ice cream route it's just a basic thermogenic burn that is creating your energy in your body and thereby putting on fat and muscle it doesn't seem to be accurate the the saying is I can have 1,000 calories of cookies or 1,000 calories of broccoli course I'd rather have the cookies is probably gonna give me a much better body much better health markers much better longevity indicators those things than eating the other once I realized that I wasn't able to access my body fat unless I was in ketosis then that next step into the fasting really seemed to make a big difference because now I have that extra fat and protein that I hadn't been eating because now I'm eating the right foods in that ketogenic way cause there is more protein than a ketogenic diet than there would be if you were eating high sugar or even the recommended daily allowances of carbohydrates and sugars you're going to be limited on the amount of protein you eat because you're eating less of it because you got that filler in there as far as the sugar goes and you're missing out on some good protein if you're eating that way as well so it just seemed to fit perfectly all across the board and that was the game changer for me so not only was it ketosis I noticed when I was in ketosis and fasting I was able to slip in and out of a longer fast a lot easier then if I had to have my body switch over from being a sugar burner which most of us are if you're eating sugar and carbohydrates you know potatoes and fruits and vegetables and meat of course but you have some rice and potatoes and bread and pastas and that's what your diet is and that's kind of how you eat every day more than likely you are going to be a sugar burner so for you and if you ever cut out carbohydrates from your diet and just stuck with let's say eggs meat fish very seasonal very local if you've never done that then you've never had your body switch over fuel sources from being a sugar burner into a fat burner so the fastest thing you can do to lose weight is not eating that's the fastest caloric burn I believe there is nothing better than that even if you go caloric restriction caloric restricted what I found out is whenever I restricted calories even more hungry restricting calories than I was when I wasn't eating at all which is amazing but what happens is your hunger hormone after you miss a meal or two or three starts to not respond as harshly as it did before and when you're in ketosis the response I would venture to say is probably even less than it is when you're in a sugar burning frame so if you're in a ketosis or fat burning frame your body is burning that at opposes to store body fat for fuel then your body is gonna respond accordingly and I venture to say because the studies have seemed to show up from what I've read you actually have a higher caloric burn in a metabolic way every day when you're in ketosis versus caloric restriction again another benefit some of the detriment to using a the fat and protein approach cutting out carbohydrates it's gonna be something you're gonna have to ask your doctor I don't know what detriment there could be you look online everybody says it's not sustainable fasting isn't sustainable well fasting is a lifestyle that I've adopted that has seemed to work for the past two and a half three years getting me into a skinnier version of myself and then able to have me add the muscle back to it through therapy and these other things but having the diet and the protein in play is really really important it used to be they called it insulin resistance if you remember that and that wasn't that many years ago now they're calling being fat metabolic resistance the insulin what you're doing when you're eating in a ketogenic way you're keeping the insulin very dormant you're keeping it very low when you're eating proteins and fats your body isn't spiky insulin albeit protein has a little bit of a response in some but again if you look at the graph both fat and protein that they're very very close to each other and again very low in response when you look at sugar or starches or fruits or carbohydrates that spike is even is very pronounced that's the insulin that your body is releasing because there's a very narrow space for sugar in your blood if it gets too high your diabetic and you start getting stuff cut off because of your circulation and immune system response it's horrible and if you're low and it keeps your insulin low so your body now because you don't have that active insulin your body now has to switch from sugar burning to fat burning and it's gonna go after that stuff that you've saved on your skeleton over time that fat there's two types folks there's the visceral fat the internal organ fat and unless you've been scanned or have had some kind of more in depth fat review on your body you're not gonna know how much of that you have but visceral fat is probably that first fat that's gonna leave you if you're super obese you're still gonna see some changes in in the exterior body fat belly fat facial fat under the skin fat you're still gonna see lots of changes but thank God that when you're starting this process if you have that visceral fat that organ fat that's choking out your heart your lungs your liver and all those other internal organs that's gonna be where that fat's gonna come off first time on the plan time on the diet is gonna be the difference and consistency 70 to 75% success all we're asking for is a C you don't have to get 100% but just do me a favor if you fail a couple of these pop quizzes that come up make sure you do some studying and get back on the wagon immediately don't let you failing and eating bad or doing something that isn't part of your plan don't let that derail all of your efforts you have to get back on it you have to get back in the process you have to get back with it and you have to continue there's gonna be things that come up be wary to have some things revealed some sickness come out some other issues come out in the way that your body is gonna be healing and taking care of things as long as of course you have your doctor's approval in those sorts of things but after a 14 day fast there was a lot of healing in that for me and besides all the fat loss and the really that's the fastest you can go you might be able to drop a pound of fat a day if you're not eating every day you have to see how that's gonna affect you you're gonna drop a lot of water depending on how your body is made up and depending on what types of food you've been eating but at the beginning you're gonna be going to the bathroom quite a bit especially if you're in a caloric surplus state and majority of your food is gonna be carbohydrates and of course the sugars if that's the case then once you cut that out and don't eat for a while your body is gonna purge a lot of that water so you get to see a massive change on the scale in my case if I go in from a sugar burning way and that's the way I've been eating and I cut that I get back on the fasting bandwagon cause I've got a little too happy and put on some poundage that I wanna deal with I will start that fast immediately and even for me if I've gone from having a couple weeks of relaxation and eating crap that I probably shouldn't have once I put that back into check then within that first three or four days I've dropped quite a bit of weight I can drop 50 to 20 pounds very quickly but again that's water and at my size at 6 1 right now flowing about 2 70 at my lowest I was 2 45 but a lot less muscle here at the 2 70 figure um I wanna trim that back a little bit get down to two 50 to 60 go 3 to 4 days water only fasting maybe that first 24 to 36 hours dry do a few more days water only and then have a nice gentle refee a couple eggs maybe a couple hamburger patties but stretch that out over an hour and a half and then call it a day and then the next day I'll have a singular meal probably protein rich as I but you do that for a couple weeks you're gonna be dropping off quite a bit of weight and that's usually enough to get me back where I need to be if you're going into this for the first time or the first of the last first time I should say if that's the case then you'll need to pay very strict attention to your refeeds in addition as I stated before this is super important if you do mess it up which you probably will there are some of you that will vanquish the lion the dragon no matter what you'll finish this because now you've heard something different you've heard something new you've heard that research is important you've heard that you need to climb down the rabbit hole in whichever way you're going to go if you really wanna restrict your calories and that's the way you're gonna torch off your body fat great learn about it bring it all in study it know it if you're gonna lose fat use fasting or paleo or carnivore learn about it eat it enjoy it become a convert and go with it and just know that you always owe yourself a break but when you do mess it up don't let your guilt carry you through for a long period of time because you'll just continue to be fat and continue to gain fat as you feel sorry for yourself lift yourself up and move on people can only make you feel what you're willing to feel that's it I'm Connor with honor I hope this helps we'll talk to you the next one be well take care I spoke to my doctor uh even if you're metabolicly harmed every year that you're not lifting weights and one's gonna be loaded with sugar and the other one's not therefore when they say all calories are equal then your body doesn't have those negative responses typically that is with so many things in life
