- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:32Speaker 2: for millennials who want financial freedom. Welcome back to another
- 0:37Speaker 2: one of our Friday Drinks episodes where we get to
- 0:39Speaker 2: celebrate the Money wins and confessions from how She's on
- 0:42Speaker 2: the Money community that She's on the Money team are
- 0:45Speaker 2: all here and as you can probably tell from the
- 0:47Speaker 2: quality of this audio, we're remote once again.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Hello team, But you guys just sounds so excited to
- 0:56Speaker 3: be yay, but in true Friday.
- 1:02Speaker 2: During style, like nothing's gonna stop us from doing this episode. Tony,
- 1:06Speaker 2: what happened on Monday's Money Diary?
- 1:10Speaker 4: So we chatted to a young woman who is absolutely
- 1:14Speaker 4: killing it. She never went to UNI and she's now
- 1:16Speaker 4: making over two hundred thousand.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Dollars a year as a real estate agent, and which
- 1:24Speaker 5: was really cool just to showing like there's different ways of,
- 1:27Speaker 5: you know, getting into a high paying job.
- 1:29Speaker 4: You don't have to have gone to university, you don't
- 1:31Speaker 4: have to have done any higher education. You know, if
- 1:34Speaker 4: you just like work really hard, you can get there,
- 1:36Speaker 4: which was a really cool insight and it was awesome
- 1:40Speaker 4: to hear about how busy she is really.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Just also her passion.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Like I think the one thing I really took from
- 1:47Speaker 2: that episode was she wasn't just like a hard worker.
- 1:51Speaker 2: She had such a vision of her future and a
- 1:53Speaker 2: vision of what she wanted to achieve, which I was like,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you're amazing because we're like, oh, how did you know?
- 2:00Speaker 2: Because she was quite intelligent at school, which I think
- 2:02Speaker 2: a lot of people just assume, well, if you've got
- 2:04Speaker 2: a good atar, or you got a good school obviously,
- 2:07Speaker 2: or go to university. And she was like, no, my
- 2:09Speaker 2: drive was always to earn a killer amount of money, and.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I made it happen. It was like, oh, that's very cool.
- 2:15Speaker 2: So she was like super switched on, but also knew
- 2:18Speaker 2: what she wanted and what she didn't need to achieve that.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I just really liked hearing that and just knowing that
- 2:23Speaker 2: while it's the minority, like anyone can do it if
- 2:26Speaker 2: you really want to do it, all right, Jess, what
- 2:29Speaker 2: happened this week on our Wednesday deep Dive?
- 2:32Speaker 6: So this week you and g spoke about something that
- 2:35Speaker 6: we get questions on all the time, which is seeing
- 2:38Speaker 6: a financial advisor. When do you do it? How do
- 2:40Speaker 6: you find one? How much does it cost? Because I
- 2:43Speaker 6: think sometimes people are a little bit taken aback by
- 2:46Speaker 6: how much it actually does cost to see an advisor,
- 2:49Speaker 6: which is why we talk about all the different options
- 2:51Speaker 6: and platforms that are out there and all of the
- 2:54Speaker 6: different things that you can really expect, because seeing an
- 2:56Speaker 6: advisor is a very personal experience. But I think a
- 2:59Speaker 6: lot of people are also a little bit put off
- 3:01Speaker 6: because they feel like it's overwhelming or confronting. So you
- 3:05Speaker 6: guys really broke it down so that people can have
- 3:07Speaker 6: a little bit of an overview of what they might
- 3:09Speaker 6: chat about if they do see an advisor.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and when you don't need to see an advisor
- 3:14Speaker 2: as well. I think was a really important piece on
- 3:16Speaker 2: that because so many times people will be like, oh
- 3:18Speaker 2: my gosh, I need financial advice, and you'll be like, oh,
- 3:21Speaker 2: you don't, actually like you actually just need to go
- 3:23Speaker 2: away and do your budget, like that's what you're asking
- 3:25Speaker 2: for help on. And if you want help, great, but
- 3:27Speaker 2: a financial advisor is going to be a very expensive
- 3:30Speaker 2: way to get some budgeting help.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So I really liked that episode.
- 3:34Speaker 2: I'm biased because I am a financial advisor, but I
- 3:36Speaker 2: really liked the clarity we could provide and in all
- 3:38Speaker 2: the honesty. I kind of wish we'd done that episode
- 3:41Speaker 2: like a year ago. I just feel like, once we
- 3:44Speaker 2: finished recording it, I said to Georgia, why didn't we
- 3:47Speaker 2: do that earlier? Like that was so necessary, so embarrassing
- 3:50Speaker 2: from us. But we learn and we grow friends, we
- 3:52Speaker 2: learn and we grow.
- 3:54Speaker 7: I learned how to spell financial advisor.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Which I didn't know before I took this job.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Impressive.
- 4:01Speaker 8: Did you just think it was.
- 4:02Speaker 7: Like or I thought it was, Oh.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of I guess misconception. I guess
- 4:09Speaker 2: it doesn't actually matter at all when it comes down
- 4:12Speaker 2: to it. But the American way of spelling advisor is
- 4:15Speaker 2: with an O R at the end, and the Australian
- 4:17Speaker 2: way is er at the end. So I'll always correct
- 4:20Speaker 2: content that has R because like, I'm not American, but
- 4:24Speaker 2: anybody else wouldn't even blink twice. It's just me being pedantic.
- 4:29Speaker 6: Can confirm my copy has been corrected previously.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Guys, if I'm pedantic and really annoying to work with,
- 4:37Speaker 2: I'm so welcome or I think it is time to
- 4:41Speaker 2: move on from Victoria being pedantic into Ryan's money wins
- 4:44Speaker 2: and confessions from the community this week.
- 4:46Speaker 9: So last week I made the bold claim that we
- 4:49Speaker 9: had the Facebook Marketplace money win of the year early.
- 4:53Speaker 8: Mind you, in July, I've said we cannot be beaten.
- 4:57Speaker 9: It was Lauren who made not only a ale of
- 5:00Speaker 9: a car on Facebook Marketplace, but a profit on a car.
- 5:03Speaker 9: And as we know, cars usually decreasing value. So we said,
- 5:07Speaker 9: who can beat that? Tell us your best second hand
- 5:10Speaker 9: money wins, and.
- 5:11Speaker 6: My lord, the people delivered. They really did.
- 5:14Speaker 3: They always do.
- 5:15Speaker 6: You never disappoint.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Is this going to be the best?
- 5:18Speaker 2: She's on the Money podcast of the year, because it's
- 5:20Speaker 2: the episode where Ryan says he's wrong.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Is that what's going to go on wrong all the time?
- 5:26Speaker 3: And I can take it at least you.
- 5:28Speaker 9: Can best podcast I'm wrong and I'll get to the
- 5:32Speaker 9: key winner. Barbara has blown us out of the water.
- 5:36Speaker 9: From last week, Okay, let's art with Anika, she said
- 5:40Speaker 9: ninety five percent of her wardrobe is thrifted and people
- 5:43Speaker 9: always ask, oh, where do you get your clothes, and
- 5:44Speaker 9: they're always shocked when I say, oh, they're secondhand. So
- 5:47Speaker 9: during Lockdown last year, Anika started a vintage website because
- 5:52Speaker 9: she was basically just cleaning out her wardrobe and thought, oh,
- 5:54Speaker 9: this stuff's good. I won't just throw it out, I'll
- 5:56Speaker 9: try and sell it. And she has made ten thousand
- 6:00Speaker 9: dollars selling stuff from.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Her own wall, from her own wardrobe.
- 6:05Speaker 6: That is insanity.
- 6:08Speaker 9: So she knows the places to go and she goes
- 6:09Speaker 9: and picks up the good stuff. And apparently there's a
- 6:11Speaker 9: bit of a scene where you're like, oh, yeah, that
- 6:12Speaker 9: place in that zuburb you go on a Tuesday morning,
- 6:14Speaker 9: that's when they get the new stuff.
- 6:15Speaker 3: So how do you find that information out?
- 6:17Speaker 2: How do you find when they get their latest drop?
- 6:19Speaker 8: People know when the drops are. They become really good
- 6:23Speaker 8: at knowing.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yet, but how do I get in on that, because
- 6:25Speaker 2: like I want to go to the Brighton.
- 6:27Speaker 7: One, you have to be in the know.
- 6:28Speaker 8: Yeah, well we got to contact Anika and then over.
- 6:31Speaker 3: The years and has slide into my DMS.
- 6:33Speaker 7: I'm very interested.
- 6:34Speaker 9: Yeah, she's been accumulating stuff and has made ten thousand dollars.
- 6:37Speaker 9: And she said it was just a bit of a hobby,
- 6:38Speaker 9: but now I guess it's a legit side hustle.
- 6:40Speaker 8: It is.
- 6:41Speaker 6: It definitely is all right.
- 6:43Speaker 9: Holly said that she has just furnished a unit that
- 6:46Speaker 9: she's planning on, like she's selling a unit that she's
- 6:49Speaker 9: been living in, and she instead of spending two thousand,
- 6:53Speaker 9: five hundred dollars to get it professionally staged.
- 6:55Speaker 3: She's a lot of money.
- 6:57Speaker 8: Yeah, well, I think that's normal in stage's standard.
- 6:59Speaker 6: Yeah, staging expensive and fine, and you pay by week
- 7:03Speaker 6: as well, so like you'll pay that amount for like
- 7:05Speaker 6: an eight week run if you're maybe, yes.
- 7:08Speaker 9: But with staging, it is, I guess an investment because
- 7:11Speaker 9: you know it works. You get a higher because people
- 7:14Speaker 9: look at the house, it looks lived in. You can
- 7:16Speaker 9: pitch yourself there. But Holly said, you know what, that
- 7:19Speaker 9: does feel a bit expensive. So she went onto Facebook
- 7:21Speaker 9: marketplace and spent six hundred dollars instead of twenty five
- 7:25Speaker 9: hundred to kind of stage it and make it look
- 7:27Speaker 9: nice herself, then sold the house, then sold all the
- 7:30Speaker 9: stuff for the same amount of money she paid for it,
- 7:31Speaker 9: so essentially got staging for free and she sold her place.
- 7:35Speaker 8: Well done.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a airpiic's and six such of bucks is
- 7:39Speaker 2: honestly like, it's still a lot of money, but it's
- 7:41Speaker 2: next to nothing in comparison.
- 7:44Speaker 8: Well, and you got it all back, so yeah.
- 7:46Speaker 6: Can I give you a sneaky staging real estate tip. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 6: we want to hear it if you are staging on
- 7:52Speaker 6: the cheap. But instead of getting a bed frame and mattress,
- 7:56Speaker 6: you just get one of those bed height air mattresses
- 7:59Speaker 6: andres that you can put a head wall behind it,
- 8:01Speaker 6: and with all of the correct like betting on it,
- 8:03Speaker 6: you wouldn't even know.
- 8:04Speaker 9: Well, can I share a story? I once jumped on
- 8:08Speaker 9: a bed in an open house and it was a
- 8:09Speaker 9: wooden box.
- 8:10Speaker 8: With a doner on it.
- 8:10Speaker 2: And yeah, but like of course you did, run doesn't
- 8:16Speaker 2: care for you, guys.
- 8:17Speaker 6: I was just about to say, no one sits on it,
- 8:19Speaker 6: so who would know?
- 8:20Speaker 8: Well, and it's just like, hey, I'm going to go
- 8:22Speaker 8: jump on the bed, all right.
- 8:24Speaker 9: Allison got a five dollar pair of Doc Martins in
- 8:27Speaker 9: her size, great condition and broken in.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Five dollars for Doc Marks broken in as well.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Tony wears Doc Martins and looks so sassy in them.
- 8:36Speaker 2: They expansive, aren't they?
- 8:38Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 8:38Speaker 4: They are generally like anywhere from two to four hundred dollars,
- 8:42Speaker 4: depending on what type.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, and she got some for five.
- 8:45Speaker 2: But where do you get five dollars at a second
- 8:48Speaker 2: hand store, like a Yeah, let's go to Liz.
- 8:55Speaker 9: She recently bought her first home. Congratulations Liz. She completely
- 9:00Speaker 9: furnished the entire house for under one thousand dollars. What well, Obviously,
- 9:06Speaker 9: buying a house you need a deposit. You don't have
- 9:08Speaker 9: a lot of money left over. And she thought, Hey,
- 9:10Speaker 9: if I get the best stuff later, that's fine. I'm
- 9:13Speaker 9: just going to get the basics. So I went onto
- 9:14Speaker 9: Facebook marketplace got heaps of secondhand stuff. She said, it's
- 9:17Speaker 9: more than fine. We feel really great in our new
- 9:19Speaker 9: house and I spent less than one thousand dollars on
- 9:21Speaker 9: everything can put unbelievable. Now we crossed to our shoes
- 9:29Speaker 9: slash heels report of Victoria Devine.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Hello, Yeah, reporting for Judy.
- 9:33Speaker 8: How much would we pay?
- 9:34Speaker 9: I'm just going to embarrass myself trying to pronounce this,
- 9:36Speaker 9: Tony Bianco?
- 9:38Speaker 8: Is that how I pronounced the shoes?
- 9:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Tony Bianco, I.
- 9:43Speaker 8: Don't know what thought they were, but just ballpark. How
- 9:45Speaker 8: much could you pay for a pair of those?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Between one hundred and three hundred dollars on average?
- 9:49Speaker 3: I reckon? Is that? Tony and Jess?
- 9:52Speaker 6: Yeah, depends on if it's a boot or lax.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Yeah, a boot would be more expensive.
- 9:56Speaker 2: If you should Honestly, she's here far more.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Fashi I am okay, I would say about two hundred dollars.
- 10:03Speaker 3: There you go.
- 10:04Speaker 9: Dannielle paid ten dollars at an O shop, wears them everywhere.
- 10:10Speaker 9: She said, And why wouldn't you for ten bucks? And
- 10:12Speaker 9: you've got a nice brand like that?
- 10:13Speaker 2: That's five dollars per Sue Tony is that you wear?
- 10:17Speaker 7: Yeah, that's that's.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Not a joke.
- 10:20Speaker 8: That was what.
- 10:23Speaker 4: I was laughing, because Ryan said, and why wouldn't you
- 10:25Speaker 4: wear them every day? Or with a brand like that?
- 10:28Speaker 4: He's got no idea. But I love the commitment.
- 10:31Speaker 8: And here I am with my heels Lingo ladies.
- 10:35Speaker 4: Shoes on the footwear, all right, shoes on the money,
- 10:39Speaker 4: Shoes on the money.
- 10:41Speaker 6: Ryan missed a shoot investor.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Sorry, you don't don't think I'm funny.
- 10:52Speaker 8: Well, I don't need to wear heels, so I could
- 10:53Speaker 8: be like the barefoot investor.
- 10:54Speaker 1: That doesn't work.
- 10:55Speaker 3: All right, Let's go investor.
- 10:58Speaker 9: The greatest money win not just from marketplace, but any
- 11:01Speaker 9: money win of the entire year.
- 11:04Speaker 8: Barbara is from Barbara.
- 11:06Speaker 9: Come mate, bar What a legend in two thousand and
- 11:10Speaker 9: one was that twenty years ago Barbara bought a car
- 11:13Speaker 9: for five thousand dollars.
- 11:15Speaker 7: Hey, guys, Carbra, the lockdown is getting to me. Someone
- 11:25Speaker 7: said help.
- 11:26Speaker 8: Yeah, you're about to say bravo to this story about
- 11:28Speaker 8: a Prado. It is ay.
- 11:31Speaker 9: She bought it for five thousand dollars, She drove it
- 11:34Speaker 9: for nine years, and last year sold it for fourteen
- 11:38Speaker 9: thousand dollars on the marketplace, making it a ten thousand
- 11:43Speaker 9: dollar profit. Over ten thousand dollars profits only ten years.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Barbara, take the wheel?
- 11:50Speaker 2: You serious, Carbra, Barbaraanta, what how.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Do you even do that?
- 11:58Speaker 2: But in saying that SUVs have gone up insane amounts
- 12:03Speaker 2: over COVID, so she's making hey while the sun really
- 12:06Speaker 2: does shine?
- 12:07Speaker 9: Yeah, so, Barbara, and I mean, if anyone can top
- 12:10Speaker 9: making profit on a car that they've driven for years,
- 12:13Speaker 9: this is ludicrous, car, Bra, to steal Tony's pun, you
- 12:17Speaker 9: are the winner of the year.
- 12:19Speaker 8: What does she win? Give her a car?
- 12:22Speaker 3: No, she doesn't win a car. Stop committing to that.
- 12:25Speaker 2: We can't afford that kind of budget, Ryan, She can, right, well,
- 12:29Speaker 2: she can buy.
- 12:29Speaker 10: Her own car money whim.
- 12:40Speaker 2: All right, So we are back without energy, which obviously Tony,
- 12:44Speaker 2: Jess and Ryan are dwindling on. I would say this week,
- 12:48Speaker 2: but that's our offensive. Yes, sorry, but that is because
- 12:51Speaker 2: we're in lockdown again, and we've been talking in the
- 12:54Speaker 2: team about how hard this lockdown is mentally. And it's
- 12:58Speaker 2: funny because we have a new person in our team, Catherine,
- 13:01Speaker 2: who I'm sure will introduce to you guys at some point,
- 13:04Speaker 2: but Catherine's from Canberra, and because Catherine's from Canberra, she's
- 13:07Speaker 2: never been through a lockdown, so she's like, oh, that's fine, no,
- 13:10Speaker 2: just stay home and just yeah, Like it's funny seeing
- 13:16Speaker 2: the difference between the rest of the team, who were
- 13:19Speaker 2: slightly traumatized and I would genuinely say have a level
- 13:22Speaker 2: of PTSD from it, and Tony this morning we were
- 13:25Speaker 2: on Zoom and you summarized it perfectly. It's not for
- 13:27Speaker 2: us day one, it's like day two hundred, and it
- 13:30Speaker 2: is really hard and it just feels really overwhelmed me.
- 13:33Speaker 2: So I thought I would ask the team how you're going,
- 13:36Speaker 2: what's going on, because I think that this is something
- 13:39Speaker 2: we should talk about more often, because you know, you
- 13:42Speaker 2: can't just be all sunshine and roses and beautiful peach
- 13:45Speaker 2: posts on Instagram, Like for me, this has been really
- 13:48Speaker 2: hard and I really don't enjoy it. And you know,
- 13:51Speaker 2: I'm very privileged in that I can still work throughout,
- 13:54Speaker 2: but like, it doesn't make it any less of a
- 13:57Speaker 2: mental load for me to be stuck at home and
- 14:00Speaker 2: feeling like I'm on a row wheel.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Yeah, And like you said, yeah, it's it's cumulative and
- 14:05Speaker 4: it just feels like so heavy.
- 14:07Speaker 7: And for us in Victoria, obviously there's.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Been two hundred days or something in the last two
- 14:12Speaker 4: years that we've been locked down. It's a lot of
- 14:16Speaker 4: it's yeah, And when you think about it like that,
- 14:19Speaker 4: you know, it was this time last year for us
- 14:21Speaker 4: that we got locked down for what two three months
- 14:23Speaker 4: or whatever it was, and we.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Had no idea what was going to happen or where
- 14:27Speaker 2: it was going.
- 14:28Speaker 4: It's really difficult, and I guess it's just about keeping
- 14:31Speaker 4: it real, like you said about how we're all feeling.
- 14:33Speaker 4: And for me, over the weekend, I've been trying to,
- 14:36Speaker 4: you know, boost up my Instagram and post a bit more.
- 14:39Speaker 7: And I was like, cool, I've got all this time.
- 14:40Speaker 4: I'm going to come up with all of these things
- 14:42Speaker 4: to make and all of these reels or tiktoks to post.
- 14:46Speaker 4: And then I sat down and I just was bashing
- 14:48Speaker 4: my head against the wall trying to be creative, and
- 14:50Speaker 4: I was like, you know what, I actually just like
- 14:53Speaker 4: zapped of my creative juices.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Got sorry, we are out. We are fresh out over
- 14:59Speaker 2: here in Tony's house.
- 15:01Speaker 9: Well, not being able to leave the house and change
- 15:03Speaker 9: your surrounds is for creative when I'm in rute, and
- 15:07Speaker 9: I would say to anyone, like, creatively, just go for
- 15:09Speaker 9: a walk, change the scenery, like look at something different.
- 15:12Speaker 9: That'll just you know, get your juices flying. But when
- 15:14Speaker 9: you know, it's literally the opposite of that, You're staring
- 15:16Speaker 9: at the same blank wall you've been staring at for
- 15:18Speaker 9: two hundred days straight, and you're like, oh, where all
- 15:20Speaker 9: the spark of inspiration come from? Well, alert, Probably not this.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Apartment, So yeah, surprise, surprise. But it does all roll
- 15:28Speaker 2: into one. And I think it's really worthy of note
- 15:30Speaker 2: that it is hard, and I know that so many
- 15:32Speaker 2: people are struggling financially, and I've had so many dms
- 15:36Speaker 2: from people being like, hey, like I'm about to go
- 15:38Speaker 2: into lockdown for the first time. I'm in Adelaide or
- 15:41Speaker 2: you know, the people in Sydney, their lockdowns have been
- 15:44Speaker 2: getting significantly.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Harsher over the last couple of.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Weeks, and that's to me, that feels really cruel in
- 15:50Speaker 2: a way because they're having it slowly taken off them
- 15:53Speaker 2: instead of like all right, stay home, like we're just
- 15:55Speaker 2: going to fix this, it's kind of like, well, what
- 15:57Speaker 2: are the rules today?
- 15:58Speaker 3: Are they moving? Are they like? Are they different? Like
- 16:01Speaker 3: how long are we going to be here? And I
- 16:03Speaker 3: just feel like, yeah, it's not easy for.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Any of us, but you know, we're all trying our best,
- 16:09Speaker 2: and we you know, I was talking on Instagram about
- 16:11Speaker 2: this earlier this week, like whilst some of us might
- 16:14Speaker 2: be financially stable and some of us might you know,
- 16:17Speaker 2: not be at all and be really stressing, Like, we're
- 16:20Speaker 2: all in the same situation, and we're all in this
- 16:22Speaker 2: storm and it's all impacting us significantly, regardless of what
- 16:26Speaker 2: kind of ship we're sailing. But I guess as a team,
- 16:30Speaker 2: something that's been really helping us suggests, which I think
- 16:32Speaker 2: you've been loving, is our lockdown pilates, which we have
- 16:37Speaker 2: been doing as a team every single morning.
- 16:39Speaker 6: Yes, it's been so fun. I yeah, my mental health
- 16:43Speaker 6: has not been great this particular lockdown, like a lot
- 16:46Speaker 6: of people, and I've been finding it really hard to connect,
- 16:50Speaker 6: like with the team and even just with my partner.
- 16:52Speaker 6: I'm really lucky that I do live with someone, but
- 16:54Speaker 6: I've been finding it really tricky to kind of get
- 16:58Speaker 6: into the day and start off right. And so Victoria,
- 17:00Speaker 6: I think it was youth who suggested we all do
- 17:03Speaker 6: a little pilate session in the morning. So we get
- 17:05Speaker 6: on Zoom and we do a little Keep It Cleaner workout.
- 17:08Speaker 6: But yeah, it's been so fun. It's literally twenty minutes
- 17:11Speaker 6: out of our day, and it's so nice that we
- 17:12Speaker 6: can do it all together and feel a little bit connected.
- 17:14Speaker 6: And for people like me who are having a little
- 17:17Speaker 6: bit of a hard time mentally, that small amount of
- 17:20Speaker 6: exercise and we do ones that do not require any
- 17:22Speaker 6: equipment because I am not a sporty gal. I don't
- 17:25Speaker 6: have the weights, I don't have the resistance band, I
- 17:28Speaker 6: have nothing. So we've been doing the ones with no
- 17:30Speaker 6: equipment and it is genuinely they don't lie, those indorphins,
- 17:34Speaker 6: they do not lie. You feel so much better afterwards,
- 17:37Speaker 6: and it's been really nice for us to just do
- 17:39Speaker 6: something as a team.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and we're not sponsored by Keep It Cleaner, but
- 17:42Speaker 2: we do love Stephan Laura, but Also they do have
- 17:45Speaker 2: a YouTube channel where they have a couple of workouts
- 17:48Speaker 2: that you can do with them for free. And the
- 17:50Speaker 2: thing I like about them is that it feels like
- 17:52Speaker 2: you're in a class, like they're actually talking to you
- 17:54Speaker 2: like a person instead of just like working out and
- 17:56Speaker 2: you're trying to keep up. But also I know they
- 17:59Speaker 2: have like a one week free trial so that you
- 18:01Speaker 2: can give it a crack and see if you like it,
- 18:03Speaker 2: and that's a money win, Like.
- 18:05Speaker 3: That's pretty good thing to do.
- 18:07Speaker 2: And I just genuinely really like the platform because it's
- 18:11Speaker 2: bringing my team together and we've got something to do,
- 18:13Speaker 2: and you best believe that. Every single morning, I'm like, hey,
- 18:16Speaker 2: assumling guys, it's Pilarate's time. And you kind of get
- 18:20Speaker 2: to go at your own pace because like Tony screen
- 18:22Speaker 2: and Jess the screen and my screen, they're all teeny tiny,
- 18:25Speaker 2: so you can't really see what the other person is doing,
- 18:27Speaker 2: but you know they're they're keeping you accountable.
- 18:29Speaker 7: And you can just hear each other breathing or going mad.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Or me being like what push ups?
- 18:35Speaker 1: No?
- 18:36Speaker 3: I said Pilarates.
- 18:38Speaker 11: The grunts of support from they're there genuinely so in
- 18:43Speaker 11: the group chat today, Was it deliberate that when someone
- 18:47Speaker 11: said is it time for pilates it was instead written
- 18:50Speaker 11: it's time for pies and lattes.
- 18:52Speaker 8: Was that a deliberate joke? Or is that just what
- 18:54Speaker 8: you guys were doing.
- 18:56Speaker 7: We're actually just eating and drinking coffee on zone.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, it's actually what we do. And you could have joined.
- 19:02Speaker 2: I haven't seen you sign in you.
- 19:04Speaker 9: Guys started when my shift on radio starts.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Multitask right, Yeah, you could do radio pilarates? Could you just.
- 19:15Speaker 8: Doing pilarates whilst on the radio? And here's justin Bieber.
- 19:21Speaker 3: That does not sound like ballartes.
- 19:24Speaker 8: Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I've got a lockdown win.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Yeah, what is that?
- 19:29Speaker 8: So obviously a bit more time at home and we
- 19:33Speaker 8: just sort of did that.
- 19:34Speaker 9: Oh were they meaning to clean out that spare cupboard
- 19:37Speaker 9: for ages? Let's just you know, those kind of jobs
- 19:39Speaker 9: that you can just end up putting off for years.
- 19:41Speaker 3: My wardrobe is clean for that reason.
- 19:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:44Speaker 8: So I actually found this bag full of coins.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Money, bag full of money, and John and I'm up.
- 19:53Speaker 6: Having a bag full of money that you didn't know
- 19:55Speaker 6: you had.
- 19:55Speaker 2: And then and then literally broadcasting that on a national
- 19:59Speaker 2: money podcast.
- 20:00Speaker 3: And expecting people to not think you're a drug dealer.
- 20:03Speaker 8: No, it wasn't like wads of notes. It was more like, you.
- 20:06Speaker 7: Know, if you've sent coin, Yeah, like.
- 20:08Speaker 9: Where you put the coins. And I used to just
- 20:09Speaker 9: like keep them in a bowl by my desk at
- 20:10Speaker 9: the end of the day. And I must have just
- 20:11Speaker 9: tipped it into this bag when we moved house and
- 20:13Speaker 9: then I found it. And I did find some like
- 20:16Speaker 9: American notes and stuff, and I reckon there was about
- 20:18Speaker 9: fifty or sixty bucks money. Yeah, So I mean, if
- 20:21Speaker 9: anyone ever used coins every again, I'm going to have
- 20:23Speaker 9: a win there. But having said that, I can't even
- 20:26Speaker 9: remember the last time I used like a physical currency.
- 20:28Speaker 3: So yeah, but that's a win. That's a win.
- 20:32Speaker 2: And I've actually done that before, and I thought that
- 20:34Speaker 2: finding it would be really hard to deal with because
- 20:37Speaker 2: I don't use coins anymore. But most big bank branches
- 20:41Speaker 2: now have the coin sorders and you can kind of
- 20:43Speaker 2: just go and tip all the coins in and then
- 20:45Speaker 2: it tells you how much is there, and they say
- 20:48Speaker 2: do you want to just put directually into your bank.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Account and you're like, yeah, money, that's awesome.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, So Google like the coin sorder because I know
- 20:57Speaker 2: they're not at every single branch, but you literally can
- 21:00Speaker 2: the money into a coin sorder and then it'll be like, oh,
- 21:02Speaker 2: that's one hundred and twelve dollars twenty Ryan, John, how
- 21:05Speaker 2: do you want that converted? And you'll be like, put
- 21:07Speaker 2: it in my bank account and then it's in your bank
- 21:09Speaker 2: accounts so satisfying.
- 21:11Speaker 9: Remember when we were in like say, primary school, and
- 21:15Speaker 9: there was like, guess how many.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Jelly beans do you reckon?
- 21:20Speaker 9: If I take a photo of the just what of coins?
- 21:24Speaker 9: Whoever in the She's on the money group guesses the
- 21:27Speaker 9: closest gets the money.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yes, that is the lasting I do it.
- 21:33Speaker 2: It's like jelly beans, but better lockdown activity.
- 21:37Speaker 7: Everybody can participate.
- 21:39Speaker 8: Well, by the.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Time she's on the money has all of their shrapnel
- 21:42Speaker 2: and they are willing to gift it to you. By
- 21:45Speaker 2: the way, just to disclaim this, I will not be
- 21:47Speaker 2: paying postage, because I.
- 21:49Speaker 10: Will be.
- 21:51Speaker 8: We'll send a bank transfer.
- 21:52Speaker 2: But we'll make Ryan go to the bank and film
- 21:54Speaker 2: himself putting it through the coin sort and then goes out.
- 21:58Speaker 9: By the time this podcast goes out Friday morning, there
- 22:01Speaker 9: will be a photo in the Facebook group where you
- 22:03Speaker 9: can see the coins, so that'll be in the Facebook group.
- 22:06Speaker 9: Speaking of wins, Jess, win or confession in Lockdown this week.
- 22:11Speaker 6: Win car park win off the back of my car
- 22:13Speaker 6: park loss.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Last Jess, You've got to get a life, literally, like.
- 22:19Speaker 6: My life is driving in and out of this car park. Yeah,
- 22:22Speaker 6: that's exactly what it is. It's that I'm not driving
- 22:24Speaker 6: to work because we're working remote least, I'm saving myself,
- 22:26Speaker 6: like seventy five dollars I'm parking.
- 22:28Speaker 3: That's so much money.
- 22:29Speaker 6: So it's so much money, and normally I do catch
- 22:32Speaker 6: the train, but with COVID, I've just been trying to
- 22:35Speaker 6: reduce the opportunities for myself to come into contact needlessly.
- 22:39Speaker 6: And I'm in a very privileged position where I can
- 22:41Speaker 6: afford to drive to work and I obviously have a
- 22:43Speaker 6: car and stuff, so I'm very fortunate. But like the
- 22:48Speaker 6: money and the cost of parking, and I'm really lucky
- 22:50Speaker 6: that I can afford to come in, but like that
- 22:53Speaker 6: seventy five.
- 22:54Speaker 7: Dollars, I can it's some money.
- 22:55Speaker 8: Win.
- 22:56Speaker 3: That's a very good Tony.
- 22:57Speaker 6: How about you? How'd you go?
- 22:59Speaker 7: I've got an fashion.
- 23:02Speaker 4: So being in Lockdown obviously is played on the emotions
- 23:06Speaker 4: a little bit and my boyfriend Torbes and I have
- 23:08Speaker 4: been like, oh yeah, let's order something naughty. Let's order
- 23:12Speaker 4: some naughty food. Let's you know, indulge in Uber eats,
- 23:15Speaker 4: and we've actually so actually, this might be a future
- 23:18Speaker 4: money win. We've actually deleted all of the uber eats
- 23:24Speaker 4: and delivery apps off of our phones.
- 23:28Speaker 3: How did you do that? In lockdown?
- 23:31Speaker 4: Honestly, we were just ordering so much food. Now, I
- 23:33Speaker 4: was like, this is getting ridiculous. It's costing a fortune.
- 23:36Speaker 4: We're ordering really naughty food. So we're eating like, not
- 23:39Speaker 4: very well and it doesn't make you feel better.
- 23:42Speaker 7: You think that eating like.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Crappy food's going to make you feel so good and
- 23:46Speaker 4: like indulgent, but it just makes you feel awful the
- 23:49Speaker 4: next day.
- 23:50Speaker 7: So we've deleted them all.
- 23:52Speaker 4: I don't know how long it's gonna last, but hopefully
- 23:54Speaker 4: it's a future money win that we're no longer ordering
- 23:56Speaker 4: food on Uber eat.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Do you think it'll last longer than the time Ryan
- 24:00Speaker 2: said he won't have takeaway coffees?
- 24:03Speaker 4: That's a challenge. That's a great challenge. You know what,
- 24:07Speaker 4: I'm going to last longer than Ryan did?
- 24:09Speaker 9: That is aggressive and that is the last time my
- 24:11Speaker 9: history's in a podcast about how long I last?
- 24:13Speaker 8: Thank you very.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Sorry, not sorry, Let's move on to me.
- 24:19Speaker 7: Victoria.
- 24:20Speaker 2: So I actually have a confession and it's oh, it's
- 24:25Speaker 2: actually a bad comfession.
- 24:26Speaker 3: It's like not thousands of dollars or anything.
- 24:29Speaker 2: It's just like the pinnacle of lazy lockdown life.
- 24:33Speaker 7: Right, so uh huh.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Everybody knows I'm slightly addicted to the mochiese that you
- 24:37Speaker 2: get at coals on a good day. They are seven
- 24:39Speaker 2: dollars a box. If they go on sale, you get
- 24:41Speaker 2: them for four dollars a box. I'm obsessed. They are
- 24:44Speaker 2: coconut milk. The coconut milk chocolate ones are the ones
- 24:47Speaker 2: that I die for good.
- 24:49Speaker 8: How many in the box six?
- 24:51Speaker 3: So it's like not exactly a great investment, but like
- 24:56Speaker 3: I love them. They live on die trees.
- 24:58Speaker 2: They are delicious, so you've got to let them frost
- 25:00Speaker 2: a little bit because then they are peaked performing amazing. Anyway,
- 25:04Speaker 2: the other night in Lockdown, we just announced lockdown, so
- 25:08Speaker 2: I was a bit frustrated. I'd had two glasses of wine,
- 25:11Speaker 2: realized they weren't any mo cheese in my freezer. Couldn't
- 25:15Speaker 2: drive because two glasses of wine and also during lockdown,
- 25:18Speaker 2: that would be a bit irresponsible. I've only been going
- 25:20Speaker 2: to the grocery drinks, very very questionable. I paid for
- 25:26Speaker 2: Uber Eats to bring me one box of chocolate mo cheese.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Gloria and must be not.
- 25:37Speaker 2: So expensive, and I just in the moment, I was like,
- 25:41Speaker 2: I don't even care, this is what I want.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I'm going to look after myself.
- 25:44Speaker 2: And it was like close to twenty dollars and I
- 25:47Speaker 2: literally regret it, like it's obviously.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Not going to cripple me.
- 25:51Speaker 2: It's not like I'm in crippling debt, but like, what
- 25:53Speaker 2: a bad money decision from me? That just highlights the
- 25:58Speaker 2: fact that I have literally no self control.
- 26:00Speaker 8: How were they though?
- 26:01Speaker 6: So good?
- 26:03Speaker 3: And do you know why they were good guys?
- 26:05Speaker 2: Because they came from a random seven to eleven, like
- 26:08Speaker 2: four suburbs across and so in the time it came
- 26:11Speaker 2: from there to my house, they're.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Defrayed with the perfect amount. That's very good.
- 26:15Speaker 9: Now you bring it to the table and say it's
- 26:17Speaker 9: a confession. But Victoria Devine, do you regret your decision
- 26:22Speaker 9: at all?
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:24Speaker 2: Kind of kind of because I knew what'd have to
- 26:26Speaker 2: tell you. I knew i'd have to tell you, but
- 26:29Speaker 2: I enjoyed all of the Mochi's. The only thing I
- 26:32Speaker 2: regretted was not buying two boxes because that transport fee
- 26:36Speaker 2: was really expensive delivery, and when they arrived Steve wanted
- 26:41Speaker 2: to share them, and I was like, oh, I didn't
- 26:42Speaker 2: sign up for this.
- 26:43Speaker 7: I hate that.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I like your own box Steve.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Got, And so I ended up. Instead of being able
- 26:52Speaker 2: to be a garbage guts and have all six Mochi's,
- 26:54Speaker 2: I got three, which is probably what I deserved given
- 26:57Speaker 2: and I paid for them on roots all right, And
- 27:01Speaker 2: I think that's probably enough.
- 27:02Speaker 3: For me, guys.
- 27:03Speaker 2: But just before we head off, we'd like to acknowledge
- 27:07Speaker 2: and pay respect to Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's.
- 27:11Speaker 2: They're the traditional custodians of the lands, the waterways and
- 27:14Speaker 2: the skies all across Australia. We thank you for sharing
- 27:18Speaker 2: and for caring for the land on which we are
- 27:20Speaker 2: able to learn. We pay respects to elders past and present,
- 27:23Speaker 2: and we share our friendship and our kindness.
- 27:26Speaker 4: The advice shared on She's on the Money is generally
- 27:28Speaker 4: nature and does not consider your individual circumstances.
- 27:32Speaker 3: She's on.
- 27:32Speaker 4: The money exists purely for educational purposes and should not
- 27:35Speaker 4: be relied upon to make an investment or any financial decision.
- 27:39Speaker 4: And we promise that Victoria Devine is an authorized representative
- 27:42Speaker 4: of Australia Pacific Funds Management Proprietary Limited ABM three four
- 27:47Speaker 4: one three two four six three two five seven AFSL
- 27:50Speaker 4: three three nine one five one.
- 27:52Speaker 9: If you are in lockdown, take care of yourself, jump
- 27:54Speaker 9: into this. She's on the money Facebook group Guess how
- 27:56Speaker 9: much Cash of God?
- 27:57Speaker 8: And it's yours.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Heay, that's so much fun.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I can't believe we've got something better than jelly beans
- 28:03Speaker 2: on this podcast. Bye guys, Bye,
