- 0:21They want me to stop. People think I'm acting crazy. Whatever.
- 0:24I'm not acting crazy. I saw something.
- 0:27James Franco, I'm posting a lot of videos on TikTok that he's been seeing aliens.
- 0:32Insert theme song here. This is the Daily Starcast. I give you the news and made me a laugh.
- 0:37I'm Lindsay Vernick and today is July 15th, 2026. Hey.
- 0:43This is just a little quick health reminder to make sure that you're wearing
- 0:47your sunscreen because yes it's so hot out but also.
- 0:52Even if you aren't at the beach or you're not really outside you should be putting
- 0:56on sunscreen even if you're just going for a walk or something because the uv
- 1:01is super high right now and you can get color,
- 1:05even being outside for like 30 minutes i mean obviously i'm not a dermatologist
- 1:10but i do know that the uv has been really high and you can get color,
- 1:15really easily so you don't want to get wrinkles put on your sunscreen,
- 1:20so in real news california is leading a group of 12 states and they're suing
- 1:26to block paramount's proposed 110 billion dollar acquisition of warner brothers,
- 1:32calling it the biggest hollywood merger ever like yes this is still going on can you believe,
- 1:38All of the state's attorneys generals are like, this combined company would control about 27%,
- 1:46of all theatrical movie releases and basic cable programming.
- 1:50What's even crazier is that along with Disney, Universal, and Sony,
- 1:55there would be just four companies and they would control 86% of movies released in theaters.
- 2:02They argue that it's a monopoly waiting to happen leading to higher prices fewer
- 2:08movies fewer jobs and a lot less competition and paramount is just like guys you're overreacting.
- 2:17We're not getting too big. We're just trying to compete with Netflix and Amazon. Like, look at them.
- 2:23But I mean, if this merger goes through, the opening credits of every movie
- 2:27is just going to say, produce five, and then just say the same five people.
- 2:32And then at that point, why even list their names? Just write the same five people.
- 2:38Watching sports is no longer enough now. Now people are treating going to games like a trip to the gym.
- 2:45The other day at the FIFA Club World Cup final, one person went viral after
- 2:50he spent the match doing squats, spinged lunges, and jogging in place in the stands instead of,
- 2:56I don't know, like, you know, just sitting in the seat and watching the game with a beer.
- 3:01At one point, when he was doing his little lunges, he bumped into the woman
- 3:06in front of him, who finally turned around and snapped, there's literally a game going on right now.
- 3:12Believe it or not, he's not the only one doing this.
- 3:15Fitness viewing is becoming an actual trend now.
- 3:19There are now events where fans can run 5Ks while watching soccer matches on
- 3:24giant screens so they can get their workout in without missing kickoff.
- 3:28Apparently, we've reached a point where people can't just watch TV without optimizing something.
- 3:34Like, we literally just can't sit anymore. We have to burn at least 600 calories,
- 3:39hit 10,000 steps, hydrate at the same time, while also tracking our heart rate,
- 3:43and obviously remembering who just scored.
- 3:47So now movie theaters are in talks with Peloton to install bikes so everyone
- 3:52can still watch the latest Christopher Nolan film while getting their workout in.
- 3:56The Pentagon just released 40 new UFO files, and one of them involves something
- 4:02flying over a nuclear weapons facility in Texas.
- 4:05The files include 14 documents, 19 videos, 4 audio recordings,
- 4:10and 3 images from agencies including the Pentagon, NASA, the CIA,
- 4:14the FBI, and the Energy Department.
- 4:17The strangest case out of all these files happened back in 2015 at this plant
- 4:23near Amarillo, Texas, which is one of the country's main facilities for maintaining nuclear weapons.
- 4:29Security saw an unidentified object entering the airspace, and the facility
- 4:33got placed on lockdown while everyone tried to investigate what was going on.
- 4:38This object was described as roughly four feet tall and two feet wide,
- 4:42and it was moving very slowly.
- 4:44It made no sound, had no visible propulsion system, and when they tried to approach
- 4:50it, it changed speed and direction before disappearing back into the sky again.
- 4:56The Pentagon isn't saying, yeah, this is aliens. They're just saying,
- 4:59we have an object, witnesses, reports, and we still don't know what it was.
- 5:04It doesn't get more of a government message than, we can't identify the thing
- 5:08hovering over the nuclear facility, but there's nothing to worry about here. Enjoy your weekend.
- 5:14Another file came from a military pilot with 28 years of experience and described
- 5:19seeing an object with flight characteristics that were unlike anything he had ever seen.
- 5:25Maybe it's aliens. Maybe it's a secret military project. Maybe it's Maybelline.
- 5:31In Lindsay life. Yesterday, I needed a quick break from work.
- 5:34I decided not to go to a mic or improv last night, which I do every weeknight, pretty much.
- 5:41But I still need to get out of the house for a minute. Like also,
- 5:44my apartment barely has any windows in it.
- 5:47So I just kind of feel like it's, I don't even know what time of day it is.
- 5:51If I don't look at a clock, it's very weird in here.
- 5:54But anyway, sorry. So I was like, I need to get out of here for a second and go for a walk.
- 5:59So I was literally just wearing like a t-shirt and shorts that very much don't match,
- 6:06barely any makeup just kind of showered didn't do my hair anything whatever
- 6:11and I was like you know what like whatever I'm gonna be out for like 20 minutes
- 6:15who could I possibly run into on the east river so I'm on the phone with my dad I'm like walking,
- 6:20and I see this like really hot guy with his shirt off.
- 6:24And I was like oh like he's cute and then he says hi to me I realized I already freaking dated him,
- 6:32and of course I was literally just thinking five minutes before like maybe I'll
- 6:36run into somebody I should like maybe put on clothes that match maybe a bra
- 6:42too and I was like no what are the chances what are the actual chances of this,
- 6:46of course it happens with my look.
- 6:49Things I'm thinking about. Okay, so as you might know, I work freelance,
- 6:53so I'm quite often without a job and I'm scrambling to figure out what I'm going to do next.
- 7:01And I'm not dating anybody. But as of right now, I have a job and I feel like
- 7:10my roster is starting to fill up a little bit again.
- 7:13And by that, I mean, might have one list on the name soon. So yeah.
- 7:19Talk to me in two months. Then we'll see where things are.
- 7:23Cooking tip of the day. If things are going to expire soon, make sure you cook
- 7:29them. You don't actually have to eat them.
- 7:31You can have them for lunch tomorrow or maybe not, but it's better than it just getting thrown out.
- 7:38Feedback, comments, questions, a nice Jewish boy looking for a date,
- 7:41email me at lindsay at thedailystarcast.com.
- 7:44Thank you so much for listening to this one today. Have a great day and I'll
- 7:48talk to you guys tomorrow.
