- 1:29That is true.

- 1:46That's it.
- 1:46I know I'm a nutrition coach.
- 1:47You guys, do you guys see my hair?
- 1:48Oh man, I'm a hot mess.
- 1:50I should probably clean up a
- 1:51little bit before these shows.
- 1:53Well,
- 1:54I'm excited to check in with you today.
- 1:55We've been kind of doing our
- 1:58formal check-ins on Thursday,
- 2:00so we have some direction
- 2:01going into the week because
- 2:02I think it sometimes sets
- 2:04you up for success knowing
- 2:05that you have a plan going
- 2:06into the weekend.
- 2:07It's kind of like a double
- 2:08check-in because your
- 2:09Tuesday check-in is kind of
- 2:10like also setting you up
- 2:11for the week ahead.
- 2:14Last week,
- 2:14we were coming off of your
- 2:16amazing weekend experience,
- 2:18getting to experience some
- 2:20athleticism with the quarterfinals.
- 2:23Um, travel,
- 2:25I think months ago at this point,
- 2:27it was what seems like
- 2:29months ago at this point, man,
- 2:30I don't know.
- 2:31I feel like all last week I
- 2:32was so consumed by the damn
- 2:34leaderboard and I'm not
- 2:35even like competing this year,
- 2:37but I could go off on a tangent on that,
- 2:39but I'm not going to,
- 2:40we're going to focus on Scott's journey.
- 2:42Maybe we'll, if we have time,
- 2:43we can close up on some CrossFit talk.
- 2:45Uh, but, uh, but yeah,
- 2:47so I think that you did a
- 2:48really good job over the weekend,
- 2:50you know,
- 2:50just kind of being able to be
- 2:52mindful while still
- 2:53allowing yourself to enjoy
- 2:55obviously being with friends and family.
- 2:57Uh, we did talk a little bit about, um,
- 3:01some stuff at home that's
- 3:02been affecting you and,
- 3:03and primarily over that weekend,
- 3:04that was very apparent.
- 3:06That's kind of affecting you a little bit.
- 3:08Um,
- 3:10And we are going to kind of
- 3:11obviously talk a little
- 3:12about that today with
- 3:13whatever you want to share.
- 3:15But last week so far, you know,
- 3:17your main goal was, you know,
- 3:18from my notes from you,
- 3:19I'm looking at right now is
- 3:21getting better about
- 3:22logging ahead of time or as
- 3:24you go so that you're not, you know,
- 3:25at the end of the day,
- 3:27only getting in 100 grams
- 3:28of protein and that you're
- 3:29getting in enough stuff.
- 3:31So how do you feel you did
- 3:32with that goal of like the
- 3:33pre-logging and all that stuff?
- 3:36I think I did really well.
- 3:37I don't think I did well
- 3:39hitting my protein over the weekend.
- 3:41Um, cause it was really,
- 3:42really busy for me.
- 3:44And we'll explain that in a,
- 3:45in a minute or two, but, um,
- 3:48I was just so exhausted at
- 3:50the end of the day that I
- 3:51didn't eat late.
- 3:53So I didn't have the chance
- 3:55to make up ground.
- 3:57I gotcha.
- 3:58All right.
- 4:00Um,
- 4:01Well,
- 4:01I know I'm going to let you talk
- 4:03about it a little bit
- 4:03because I know that you've
- 4:04been having some stuff
- 4:06going on at home that you feel like.
- 4:07I mean, your title right here,
- 4:09mental health is a part of
- 4:10the whole thing.
- 4:10And I think that I have my
- 4:15thoughts that I'm going to
- 4:15write down right now before
- 4:16I forget them.
- 4:17But I want you to kind of
- 4:18talk about why you titled it that.
- 4:22So I'm going through a
- 4:24season of life where my wife...
- 4:30my wife is really struggling
- 4:33with some things in her life.
- 4:36And when you,
- 4:37when the love of your life is hurting,
- 4:39you hurt too.
- 4:41And so it's really affected our lives.
- 4:45And it really started to
- 4:47become impactful the
- 4:48weekend we went to Michigan
- 4:51and became more evident.
- 4:53Since then,
- 4:54I've had to take up a lot more
- 4:57of the responsibilities
- 4:58around the house because of
- 5:01what she's going through.
- 5:02And I'm going to keep that
- 5:03private for now and her
- 5:06battle and what's going on there.
- 5:09but it's meaning that I'm
- 5:12cooking all the meals,
- 5:13which in one way is an
- 5:15advantage because now I get
- 5:16to control what we eat,
- 5:18but I'm exhausted at the end of the day.
- 5:22I'm cooking all the meals.
- 5:23I'm cleaning the house.
- 5:24I'm doing the laundry.
- 5:25I'm,
- 5:26Plus,
- 5:27we started this project in my
- 5:28backyard that I can't just let sit.
- 5:31So I'm back there.
- 5:34Double banger in the
- 5:35backyard with my
- 5:38sledgehammer taking posts
- 5:39out of the ground.
- 5:41But all of this and then the
- 5:42stress of it all.
- 5:44And there's stuff going on
- 5:45with my daughter too,
- 5:45which is added to that as well.
- 5:48Not as bad.
- 5:49That's a temporary thing
- 5:50that we just had to give
- 5:51her a car for a couple weeks to fix.
- 5:54So we're down to one car in
- 5:55our house as well.
- 5:58Oh, geez.
- 5:59And so with all that, I'm super stressed.
- 6:03I'm not sleeping as well as
- 6:04I was a couple weeks ago.
- 6:06And it, you know,
- 6:12you always told me like
- 6:12cortisol levels affect all that stuff.
- 6:15And it has become very
- 6:16evident to me as I'm
- 6:18tracking more and more stuff,
- 6:20how much it is affecting everything.
- 6:23And probably your blood sugar as well.
- 6:26It is.
- 6:27My blood sugar's up this week.
- 6:30Um, so I'm really trying to,
- 6:32I'm trying to eliminate as
- 6:36much of the processed carbs
- 6:38as I can from my diet to
- 6:39get that blood sugar back down.
- 6:40Um,
- 6:44And, um, and again,
- 6:46I've had to do all the grocery shopping.
- 6:48I'm doing the cooking.
- 6:49So I've had, I've, I,
- 6:52I'm looking that at looking
- 6:54at that as a blessing in
- 6:55some way that now I can
- 6:56control all that stuff a lot more.
- 6:58And that's the one thing I
- 6:59can't control in this moment.
- 7:02Yeah.
- 7:02I'm really focusing on that
- 7:04and my tracking.
- 7:06So I wanted to, uh,
- 7:08First off, thank you for sharing all that.
- 7:09And I want to kind of talk about,
- 7:10but I got to make a joke, dude.
- 7:12I got to make a joke, okay?
- 7:13Your story's not funny,
- 7:14but we got to make this lighthearted too,
- 7:16all right?
- 7:16Okay.
- 7:17If I got ladies in the chat, all right?
- 7:19Got ladies in the chat.
- 7:20I know I got ladies in the chat.
- 7:22And I might even have some
- 7:23mom dads in the chat.
- 7:24Because what I just heard was...
- 7:27I got to be a mom.
- 7:28I got to do a full-time job.
- 7:30I got to get to the gym.
- 7:32I got to eat my food.
- 7:34That's mom life that you're
- 7:35talking about right there.
- 7:36I got to do all the kids' laundry.
- 7:38This mom life shit sucks.
- 7:42I just had to make the joke.
- 7:43I had to make the joke.
- 7:44But I'm also dad.
- 7:47I know, but that's what moms do.
- 7:49Mom's got to play mom and dad,
- 7:51but they don't have to do the whole,
- 7:52I'm just, I'm kidding with you.
- 7:54I'm honestly,
- 7:55I'm just putting a shout out
- 7:56to all my moms that are in
- 7:57the chat right now,
- 7:58because that's all I was hearing.
- 8:00Cause I hear that so often.
- 8:02Oh my gosh, I got to do the laundry.
- 8:04I had to go grocery shopping.
- 8:06My kid needs to go play sports.
- 8:08I got to do this.
- 8:08I'm like,
- 8:09is literally,
- 8:10so your experience to get to
- 8:12the nth degree.
- 8:13I just had to make the joke
- 8:14first and foremost,
- 8:15because we are going into
- 8:16something that's very serious for you.
- 8:19And part two is like,
- 8:21I think everybody in the chat, myself,
- 8:23can relate how it is really
- 8:26hard to enjoy things in
- 8:28life when you want to
- 8:31invite somebody that you
- 8:32love to be a part of it and
- 8:34they just can't enjoy it
- 8:35the way that they want to.
- 8:37And it brings a level of
- 8:39guilt to yourself.
- 8:41And it steals the joy out of it for you.
- 8:43And then you feel guilty
- 8:44about feeling like you're
- 8:46not enjoying yourself.
- 8:47It becomes this cycle of like this.
- 8:48And I think we can all
- 8:51relate to that feeling and
- 8:52knowing how we just want to
- 8:53be able to feel better.
- 8:54I mean, I'm not married,
- 8:56but like my mom isn't well.
- 8:57And my mom will make plans.
- 8:59She's like, I want to go hiking.
- 9:00I want to do this.
- 9:01But I'm like, mom, you can't.
- 9:03I know you say you want to do these things,
- 9:05but you're going to make it
- 9:06like 10 minutes before
- 9:07you're going to overheat.
- 9:09I know that.
- 9:09And it sucks because I want
- 9:11her to be able to enjoy those things.
- 9:13So I totally understand and relate.
- 9:15And I'm going to tell you that
- 9:17I am really proud of you
- 9:19because I do see a huge
- 9:21improvement in your food quality.
- 9:24I think that your weekend,
- 9:28I think there was probably some busyness,
- 9:30but I think also it's okay to be like,
- 9:32hey, it was the weekend.
- 9:34I tend to be a little bit
- 9:35more flexible with things,
- 9:36just full transparency.
- 9:38When I look at your food on the weekend,
- 9:39it wasn't I'm focusing on
- 9:40minimally processed carbs.
- 9:42It was
- 9:42Hey, I'm going to enjoy a little bit.
- 9:44And that's okay because
- 9:45that's the 80-20 life.
- 9:47So I think that that's also
- 9:49where your protein might've
- 9:50been lacking a little bit on the weekend.
- 9:51And that's totally okay.
- 9:52You did the right thing.
- 9:54That's the part of the
- 9:55flexibility of this.
- 9:57But I mean, what I see is like,
- 9:59So when I say this, guys, just so you know,
- 10:01it's like he chose a whole grain bun.
- 10:04He chose the right carbs,
- 10:05but he had some ice cream on Saturday.
- 10:08That's flexibility.
- 10:09That's structured flexibility.
- 10:10He chose a high protein,
- 10:13higher complex carb dinner
- 10:14with this vegetable.
- 10:15I think he had carrots for vegetable.
- 10:17I remember I had to look back at it again.
- 10:19Yeah.
- 10:20you know what, I'm going to also have,
- 10:21you know, you had cauliflower and I'm,
- 10:24you know,
- 10:24I'm going to have an ice cream cone.
- 10:26That's part of life.
- 10:28So just something I wanted to mention too,
- 10:31but I think you honestly did well,
- 10:33but I want to talk about
- 10:34the other thing that I
- 10:36wanted to kind of quickly
- 10:37say before I open up the
- 10:38floor to you again is
- 10:41When we talk about health, right?
- 10:44We talk about goals when it
- 10:46comes to fat loss.
- 10:49You know,
- 10:49I think that there's a difference
- 10:52between people chasing a
- 10:54goal of weight loss or fat
- 10:55loss from a place of
- 10:57aesthetics that can be unhealthy.
- 11:00And then there's a place
- 11:00where it can come from health.
- 11:02And health is defined, in my opinion,
- 11:07by more than just how you
- 11:09look physically.
- 11:11or even your physical health,
- 11:13your mental health,
- 11:15I don't even think that
- 11:16they should be separate.
- 11:18I don't think that mental
- 11:20health and physical health
- 11:21could be separate.
- 11:22Like your brain is not
- 11:24separate from the rest of your body.
- 11:26Right.
- 11:27I think that we have this, like,
- 11:28I don't even know what to call it in,
- 11:31in our common day world
- 11:32that like mental health
- 11:34isn't seen as important as
- 11:36our physical health.
- 11:37And
- 11:38They they're they're the same.
- 11:41You can't have one without the other.
- 11:43If you are not mentally in a
- 11:45good head place,
- 11:46you are not physically
- 11:47going to feel well.
- 11:48And if you are not
- 11:49physically doing the things
- 11:50you need to be doing,
- 11:51you are not going to mentally feel well.
- 11:53You cannot have one without the other.
- 11:56And so it's really important
- 11:58for you to also, you know,
- 12:01we've talked about this and
- 12:02sure that you are doing the
- 12:04things for yourself
- 12:06mentally that you need to stay healthy.
- 12:09And that does come down to
- 12:11thinking about these things,
- 12:14controlling what you can control,
- 12:15like talking yourself
- 12:16through those things.
- 12:17Like it's, it's a different approach,
- 12:19right?
- 12:20Like it's not, it's not macros.
- 12:22It's not clean eating.
- 12:23It's,
- 12:23it's literally the mental side of
- 12:25things is much more
- 12:27gray matter for lack of better terms.
- 12:30We're talking about the brain,
- 12:32but it really is.
- 12:33It's gray.
- 12:35It's learning how to manage
- 12:36stress and how we react to
- 12:39it and not to become a
- 12:41creature that just kind of
- 12:42goes back to the comfort of like,
- 12:44whether it's food or
- 12:45isolation or avoiding things, it's saying,
- 12:48no,
- 12:49like I've got to mentally push through
- 12:52this.
- 12:52That's how progress is made.
- 12:53And that was the only other
- 12:54thing I want to say.
- 12:57Yeah,
- 12:58and that's what I'm really trying to do.
- 13:00I'm just sad right now.
- 13:04I'm just sad.
- 13:07The person I love more than
- 13:09anything in this world is hurting.
- 13:12And I can't help it.
- 13:15I can't make it go away.
- 13:18And it's really
- 13:20incapacitated her a lot to
- 13:21where I'm almost at a
- 13:24caretaker role right now.
- 13:28And it's, it's really hard and I'm really,
- 13:32really struggling and I'm sorry,
- 13:34I'm getting emotional,
- 13:35but I'm really trying to
- 13:39focus on that because of,
- 13:40I have to take that role on.
- 13:42I have to be the best I can be right now.
- 13:49This is where I will say that.
- 13:53So like separating emotion
- 13:56from logic and emotion from
- 13:57decisions is so hard in the moment,
- 14:01right?
- 14:02But the more we allow ourselves to accept,
- 14:05like it's okay to be sad,
- 14:07just like it's okay to be happy, right?
- 14:10It's okay to be happy.
- 14:13We have a hard time.
- 14:14Everybody in life has a
- 14:15really hard time feeling
- 14:17negative emotions.
- 14:19But if we realize that emotions,
- 14:21whether good or bad, are okay.
- 14:24It's okay to experience sadness.
- 14:26But the most important thing
- 14:27is just like when you're happy,
- 14:29when you're sad,
- 14:31structure and routine is
- 14:33the number one thing you
- 14:35can do to keep yourself going forward.
- 14:38If like...
- 14:39Let me flip it around a little bit.
- 14:42Let's just say you're really happy.
- 14:45You just found the love of
- 14:47your life and you're at
- 14:48work and you're like, oh,
- 14:50and you're like daydreaming
- 14:51about like that date night
- 14:54last night and can't wait
- 14:56to see them again.
- 14:57I'm like,
- 14:57you're not thinking about work
- 14:58and you're just like living
- 14:59in La La Land.
- 15:00You ain't going to get shit done, right?
- 15:01Like, come on, put your shit together,
- 15:03get back to work, right?
- 15:05that's the flip side of things,
- 15:06being happy.
- 15:07We can have the exact same
- 15:08experience when we're sad.
- 15:11We just have to learn how to
- 15:13stay consistent, structured, focused,
- 15:15like separating emotion is so hard,
- 15:19but it's a skill that you build.
- 15:21And the more you do it,
- 15:24the better you get at it, you know, and
- 15:27And I know I used to have a
- 15:28lot of negative coping mechanisms.
- 15:30And I still, to this day,
- 15:32will find myself in times
- 15:34where I'm dealing with
- 15:35anxiety and sadness or whatever,
- 15:36because I deal with this stuff too.
- 15:38I think we all do.
- 15:40And finding myself not even
- 15:42thinking about it,
- 15:43but wanting to go back to
- 15:44one of those coping
- 15:44mechanisms that I know
- 15:46might serve the purpose of
- 15:48me dealing with the emotion,
- 15:49but aren't going to really help the fact.
- 15:51It's not going to help
- 15:52change the situation.
- 15:54I've had to catch myself and be like,
- 15:56This isn't rational.
- 15:57This is emotion.
- 15:59And that's why structure and
- 16:01routine in these times is so important,
- 16:04you know?
- 16:05And the other thing I'm
- 16:07going to say is like
- 16:08minimizing what doesn't have to be done,
- 16:11right?
- 16:11Like, so yes,
- 16:13you're working on a yard
- 16:14project right now.
- 16:16But if like it doesn't get done this month,
- 16:18oh, well, like no big deal.
- 16:20Like it's not a big deal.
- 16:22You don't have like some,
- 16:24unless you have some like
- 16:25party coming up on a
- 16:26specific date where you're like,
- 16:28I've got to get this done by this date.
- 16:30Like put that shit to the
- 16:32back burner because right
- 16:33now your wife matters more, you know,
- 16:37extra work stuff.
- 16:39It's funny.
- 16:40I was going to make a post
- 16:40about this tomorrow about
- 16:42how your boss doesn't own you.
- 16:44You get to punch a clock.
- 16:45you get a break at work,
- 16:47like work stays at work,
- 16:48which I think you're pretty
- 16:49good at home is home.
- 16:52And, and that's it.
- 16:54And, and,
- 16:54and I think the last thing on
- 16:55this is like,
- 16:56your wife also knows that
- 16:58you're doing a lot, right?
- 16:59She knows,
- 17:00she knows you're taking on a burden.
- 17:02She's going to be patient with you.
- 17:04You know that she's going to
- 17:05be patient with you.
- 17:06Anybody that's being taken
- 17:07care of is grateful.
- 17:10And if they're not, they should be.
- 17:11And then, you know,
- 17:14So they're grateful.
- 17:15She's grateful for everything, you know,
- 17:17so you're doing what you
- 17:19can as a husband.
- 17:22Yeah.
- 17:23And in the most part you're correct,
- 17:25but pain makes you say
- 17:27things sometimes you don't mean.
- 17:29So I go through that as well.
- 17:31Um,
- 17:33And just to let people, like,
- 17:35my wife and I's
- 17:36relationship has never been better.
- 17:38Like, her and I are doing great.
- 17:41She's just going through
- 17:42something right now that is
- 17:44heavily impacting our lives.
- 17:46And I'm just trying to pick up the slack.
- 17:53And it's really hard.
- 17:55And I'm just doing the best I can.
- 17:58And here's something that
- 17:59I'm going to actually talk
- 18:00to you about too, though,
- 18:01with this as well, right?
- 18:03You know,
- 18:04not disclosing too much of your
- 18:05wife's situation,
- 18:06but I think some of it we
- 18:08both know there are some
- 18:10things that she can be
- 18:11doing on her end to help
- 18:12better the situation.
- 18:14And that's frustrating for you as well.
- 18:16But knowing that, like,
- 18:19you can only pick up so much stuff.
- 18:20I lost Carol.
- 18:21You lost me for a little bit.
- 18:23Oh, well, I was just saying, you know,
- 18:26you picking up the slack
- 18:27for somebody else who knows
- 18:28that they need to pick it
- 18:29up a little bit in their own life.
- 18:30If you don't take care of yourself,
- 18:33who's going to be left to
- 18:34take care of you, right?
- 18:36You don't want to be that
- 18:37burden on somebody else.
- 18:39I know I don't want to be
- 18:39that burden on somebody else.
- 18:41I know that for myself.
- 18:42So it's really important for
- 18:44you to prioritize your
- 18:45health and your fitness and
- 18:47your everything and staying
- 18:48consistent and
- 18:49And not feel guilty or shameful for that.
- 18:53And if that means that the
- 18:54laundry doesn't get done
- 18:54today because you got to do
- 18:56some stuff for you,
- 18:57like I'm sure she'll be
- 18:59able to find a pair of
- 18:59clothes to wear for tomorrow.
- 19:01I promise.
- 19:02If that means that like
- 19:03you're doing crock pot
- 19:04meals and it's easy for you
- 19:05because you don't have to think about it,
- 19:07that's what you're doing this week.
- 19:09You know what I mean?
- 19:09Like you got to be able to
- 19:10take what you can get at that point.
- 19:14When this week I have like,
- 19:16like I have taken care of myself.
- 19:18I have eaten well.
- 19:20I've done all the things.
- 19:23I'm just not sleeping well.
- 19:25And I'm, and I'm worried.
- 19:26Yeah.
- 19:28So enough, enough of that.
- 19:32That's where I'm at right now.
- 19:33All right.
- 19:34But I'm,
- 19:34I'm confident that I've set myself
- 19:38up for this week really well.
- 19:40Tomorrow's my mom's birthday.
- 19:41I'm actually taking the rest
- 19:42of the week off of work.
- 19:44Hell yeah.
- 19:46My mom's birthday is tomorrow.
- 19:48We're going to go see her this weekend.
- 19:50Just kind of get out of the city.
- 19:52Go out in the country.
- 19:54Kind of chill out a little bit.
- 19:57And yeah,
- 19:59just try to relax a little bit
- 20:02this weekend and see how things go.
- 20:06I think that that's going to
- 20:07be so good for you.
- 20:08And I know that your mom...
- 20:10is a very healthy individual,
- 20:11which is going to rub off.
- 20:13I think she's going to, you're going to,
- 20:14you're going to do great.
- 20:15So I think that, okay,
- 20:17we know that right now,
- 20:19mentally you are in a place
- 20:22where you can sink or you
- 20:24can swim and you're going
- 20:25to keep swimming because
- 20:26you got all the support in
- 20:27the world and you're strong
- 20:29and you've been through
- 20:30hard shit in your life and
- 20:31you're going to keep going.
- 20:32I know that.
- 20:34Um,
- 20:35I saw it was one of my questions I
- 20:37haven't asked yet.
- 20:37Jake asked,
- 20:38have you been going to the gym?
- 20:39Um,
- 20:41I have been this week.
- 20:42I have not because I didn't
- 20:43have access to a car.
- 20:44Okay.
- 20:46But like Monday yesterday
- 20:47was Cindy with every four minutes,
- 20:51a 200 meter run.
- 20:52I can, I did that in my garage.
- 20:54It was so easy.
- 20:55Okay.
- 20:56So you're doing,
- 20:57you're doing workouts at home.
- 21:00Yeah.
- 21:00And then when I have access to the car,
- 21:02I go to the gym.
- 21:04Well, yeah, but you don't have a, so,
- 21:05so you haven't been,
- 21:07you probably aren't going
- 21:07to make it to the gym this week.
- 21:08Realistically.
- 21:09Yeah,
- 21:09because I'm off the next couple days.
- 21:11I can take her to work, drop her off,
- 21:14have the car for the day.
- 21:15Most important thing is that
- 21:16you're getting a workout in.
- 21:17A week like this is what I'm saying.
- 21:19I'm not worried about you
- 21:20doing it at the gym if
- 21:21right now convenience is a thing.
- 21:24Like I said this,
- 21:25I think I forget where I went,
- 21:26maybe on my stories.
- 21:28Last week,
- 21:28because I've been slam busy right now.
- 21:30By the way,
- 21:31if y'all want to join my jumpstart,
- 21:32I'll talk about that a little bit.
- 21:34But I realized last Sunday
- 21:37that I went to church on
- 21:39Sunday and I got my
- 21:41groceries and I didn't
- 21:43leave my I hadn't left my house Sunday,
- 21:45Monday or Tuesday.
- 21:46And all I'd done was like
- 21:48client check ins and work.
- 21:49And I'm like, oh, my God,
- 21:51you got to go to the gym today.
- 21:54You got to get out of the
- 21:54house because I'm like
- 21:56going to become a little
- 21:56hermit because I can work out at home.
- 21:58But yeah, like there's time for like,
- 22:00you just got to get out and go, right?
- 22:02Like that was, I did the same thing today.
- 22:03I'm like, all right.
- 22:04I didn't want it to be
- 22:05another week where I didn't
- 22:06leave my house again.
- 22:06So I'm like,
- 22:07go to the gym today and make it happen.
- 22:09So I did.
- 22:09I got to, because you got to sometimes.
- 22:11But in those times, like you just got to,
- 22:13you got to grind.
- 22:14You got, you have to use every hour.
- 22:17like judy said it's gorgeous
- 22:19here in ohio so sunday
- 22:21literally I was doing
- 22:22nothing but swinging a
- 22:23sledgehammer for like two
- 22:25hours yeah trying to get
- 22:27these deck po the support
- 22:29posts out of the ground
- 22:31from where we remove my
- 22:32deck and so that was a
- 22:35great workout on sunday and
- 22:38I literally in my head was
- 22:39picturing double banger
- 22:41from the crossfit games in like what 2012
- 22:45That's a good one.
- 22:46Yep.
- 22:46Um,
- 22:46and just hitting those posts as hard as
- 22:49I could with the sledgehammer.
- 22:50Yeah.
- 22:52Yeah.
- 22:52And I think you're, uh,
- 22:53I think you're going
- 22:54through some shit and
- 22:55you're doing an awesome job.
- 22:57So nutrition is looking pretty good.
- 22:59Um, just kind of looking over some things.
- 23:01Your fat intake has still
- 23:02been a little bit high, but, um, I, I,
- 23:06I have a couple of ideas to fix that.
- 23:08Yeah.
- 23:09I think that if we have to
- 23:10get to the grocery store,
- 23:12Yeah.
- 23:12But it's not every day.
- 23:14You know,
- 23:14it was like yesterday was a
- 23:15little bit high.
- 23:17Um, you're doing fine.
- 23:19Simple as fix for you would be honestly,
- 23:21just as simple as in the morning,
- 23:23because you like to do two
- 23:25different types of protein
- 23:27and they're both typically higher fat.
- 23:29I would say cut your eggs
- 23:31down to one egg and do egg
- 23:33and egg whites.
- 23:34That'd be an easy fix.
- 23:35And that's going to set you
- 23:36up better for the rest of the week,
- 23:37the rest of the day.
- 23:38My store was out of egg
- 23:39whites when I went over the weekend,
- 23:41because that was a change I
- 23:42was going to make.
- 23:43Yeah.
- 23:44And I have not been able to get them.
- 23:46I just have to go when they're in stock.
- 23:49I would do that.
- 23:50I don't know.
- 23:50I haven't tried this yet myself,
- 23:53but everything goes viral, right?
- 23:57When protein powder first came out,
- 23:59like people were putting
- 24:00protein powder and everything.
- 24:02Greek yogurt came out.
- 24:04Everybody's using Greek
- 24:04yogurt and everything.
- 24:05Then it was cottage cheese.
- 24:06But I have seen people that
- 24:08are using cottage cheese in
- 24:09their eggs to bump up the protein.
- 24:11And apparently it's delicious.
- 24:13I haven't tried it yet myself.
- 24:15But I know that growing up,
- 24:17we used to always put milk
- 24:18in our scrambled eggs.
- 24:19So I'm like, maybe it's similar.
- 24:22I don't know.
- 24:24Because whenever we would make omelets,
- 24:26we would always add milk to that.
- 24:29but I'm curious that might
- 24:30also help you get the
- 24:31protein up a little bit,
- 24:32keeping the fats down.
- 24:33So, um, yeah, I mean, Heidi mentioned,
- 24:36yeah,
- 24:37you could just obviously get rid of
- 24:38the yolk, but I'm like, you,
- 24:40you don't want to waste it.
- 24:41I don't want to waste the yolk,
- 24:43like money going down the drain.
- 24:46It's expensive right now.
- 24:47So, but yeah, you totally can.
- 24:49Bruce said the same thing.
- 24:50If you wanted to,
- 24:50you can throw the yolk away,
- 24:51but I think you're whatever
- 24:53we're doing well, um, you're doing right.
- 24:55So,
- 24:56Oh gosh, the comments in there.
- 24:59So, all right.
- 25:01So this week,
- 25:02when are you leaving to go to your mom's?
- 25:05Friday.
- 25:06Okay.
- 25:06So you're home still from
- 25:08now until Friday.
- 25:12Have you, has the messages been helpful?
- 25:15Do I need to keep doing
- 25:16those or do you feel like I
- 25:17can take those away and
- 25:18you're going to remember to
- 25:18do what you got to do?
- 25:20They're probably helpful.
- 25:21Okay.
- 25:22As much as I find them annoying at times.
- 25:24Okay,
- 25:25let's keep them going because I want
- 25:27to make sure that we keep
- 25:30them going then.
- 25:31I'm going to keep them up.
- 25:33And then how many workouts
- 25:35do you feel like you can
- 25:36commit to this week?
- 25:37You got one in your garage.
- 25:39Yeah,
- 25:41I'll do one tomorrow and Thursday for
- 25:44sure.
- 25:44And then I'll be out.
- 25:47So part of the reason I'm
- 25:48going home is to help my
- 25:49mom get a lot of stuff out of the shed.
- 25:52I'm going to be working that weekend.
- 25:54Okay.
- 25:56You're just a busy, busy guy right now.
- 25:58Yeah.
- 25:59All right.
- 25:59I'm going to go ahead and
- 26:00put this reminder on again.
- 26:01Make sure Wednesday, Thursday, Jim,
- 26:05and then the weekend working.
- 26:07Okay.
- 26:09And I'll be back Sunday.
- 26:10Awesome.
- 26:11All right.
- 26:13This week, like I said,
- 26:15I feel like aside from you
- 26:16having a little bit more
- 26:17flexibility on the weekend and
- 26:18Your fiber count is looking much better.
- 26:20You know,
- 26:22I would still really like to get
- 26:24it over 30.
- 26:24You're still kind of
- 26:27walk in the fine line of like 25 ish.
- 26:30That's just going to be good
- 26:31for your blood sugar.
- 26:32And you don't have to do it.
- 26:34It's not just vegetables.
- 26:36It's also the types of carbs.
- 26:38It's really,
- 26:39that's where we have to really focus.
- 26:41Right.
- 26:41Like, so, um, you know, like for instance,
- 26:46like, you know, the Welch's fruit packs,
- 26:48those are great.
- 26:50They're delicious,
- 26:51but it's 34 grams of pure sugar.
- 26:54Um, if we can change,
- 26:56I'm trying to cut out.
- 26:57Yeah, exactly.
- 26:57So like, those are the things that like,
- 26:59so I want to give you some
- 27:00tips to replace them with.
- 27:02Simple fix there is doing berries instead,
- 27:05like some raspberries,
- 27:07something like that.
- 27:07If you're craving something
- 27:09sweet like that, raspberries,
- 27:12if you like any kind of melon,
- 27:13I don't know what, I live in Florida,
- 27:15so I don't know what your
- 27:16grocery store seasonally
- 27:18have up there.
- 27:19We never, I feel like everywhere.
- 27:20I just talked up on strawberries,
- 27:23blackberries, and I have some grapes.
- 27:27That's good.
- 27:28And then like any of your, when you're,
- 27:31when you're building your meals, it's,
- 27:34it's not, it's hard to remember this,
- 27:36but like, you know, things like pierogies,
- 27:39raviolis,
- 27:41those things should be used in moderation,
- 27:44like as almost like a
- 27:47here and there, like as you're like, Oh,
- 27:49like a weekend thing.
- 27:50And you're getting better
- 27:51about changing those things out.
- 27:52So like,
- 27:53I only saw that kinds of stuff
- 27:54once or twice.
- 27:55That's why I'm thinking,
- 27:55but like looking for either
- 27:57a whole grain pasta and,
- 27:59or which you have found those,
- 28:01I don't like them,
- 28:02but you like those miracle noodles.
- 28:03But I think even a whole
- 28:05grain pasta would do you better.
- 28:06Cause you're going to get more fiber.
- 28:08Um,
- 28:08that kinds of stuff would be helpful
- 28:10for you.
- 28:10Uh, you do, you do potatoes.
- 28:13If you like sweet potatoes,
- 28:14that's another option.
- 28:16Um,
- 28:16Anything like that for your
- 28:18for your main meals is
- 28:19going to be helpful, but
- 28:21Overall,
- 28:22that's going to be my focus is
- 28:23getting your fiber over 30 grams.
- 28:25And if you want,
- 28:26I don't even mind helping you.
- 28:28I've done this for a couple of my clients.
- 28:29Let me just build you out a sample day.
- 28:31What I'll basically do is
- 28:32I'll take what your
- 28:34traditional day looks like.
- 28:35Hey,
- 28:36if you just made these couple of
- 28:37little swaps,
- 28:38you would see how your fiber skyrockets.
- 28:41And it might even be adding something in.
- 28:44It might even be adding in a
- 28:45snack that has higher fiber.
- 28:47It might not even be
- 28:48changing out much of anything.
- 28:49It might be more of an
- 28:50additional thing that you
- 28:52add in rather than worried
- 28:54about taking things out.
- 28:59Okay.
- 28:59So that would help as well.
- 29:02Your weight looks good.
- 29:03It's at 282.
- 29:04So that's good.
- 29:06Obviously things are still
- 29:07kind of moving in the right
- 29:07direction despite the stress.
- 29:12So I feel like anything else
- 29:15that you want to kind of
- 29:16work on this week?
- 29:16I think that this week you did great.
- 29:19I think that you've, you know,
- 29:21you got a battle ahead of you right now.
- 29:23And I feel like you're doing
- 29:26the right things for yourself.
- 29:29So.
- 29:31Okay.
- 29:31Yon put about the grapes.
- 29:33Those cotton candy grapes are awesome.
- 29:36I'm going to be honest though.
- 29:37They're, I mean, grapes are great,
- 29:38but they are, they're still,
- 29:40and not that there's
- 29:40nothing wrong with fruit.
- 29:41Oh my God.
- 29:41If I say this, people are going to be like,
- 29:42Oh my God,
- 29:43she's saying I can't eat fruit.
- 29:43No grapes are pretty high in, in sugar.
- 29:46So, and not a lot of fiber, but yeah,
- 29:49Um,
- 29:49but they're still delicious and they're
- 29:51still fine to have.
- 29:52So just letting you guys,
- 29:53I don't want you guys to
- 29:53think I'm telling you not to have any,
- 29:55any grapes, have the grapes, but, uh,
- 29:59yeah.
- 30:00By the way,
- 30:00if anybody wants to join in on
- 30:02my 21 day jumpstart,
- 30:04get an idea for how I do things,
- 30:06how we work.
- 30:08You are welcome to join in
- 30:09fit body RX jumpstart.com.
